I did not know that scrambled eggs w bacon could be this delicious. The eggs were hot and soft and the bacon thick and crispy but not greasy. The drip coffee was also tasty. There are about 12 tables and some bar seating. Reservations are recommended for evenings and weekends especially. I've been in the evening on a Thursday before and it was packed. Luckily we had a reservation then. We did a walk-in for weekend brunch but arrived at 11 and got a seat. It was and stayed full after that w people who had reservations. Service was great - our server was super busy but very friendly and helpful. Love the vibe of this little place. Very chill but elevated and classy. I can't get over those fluffy eggs.
Got a table as a walk-in on a Friday night! We were seated at a high table at first, but my friend has back issues. The first server didn’t really try to help us when we asked to move, but another one was so nice and arranged it for us. We had the steak frites, Milou burger, and the panisse salad. The steak was good, I loved the flavor and the sauces that came with it. My friend and I didn’t even realize our cocktails were mixed up until we were halfway through. It wasn’t the best experience in terms of service, but I’m willing to give it another try.
Great food and vibe. Their menu and branding is super cute. Should definitely try Croque Monsieur and Milou Burger they were amazing !
I love the vibe in here. Steak frites was legit 10/10. A little disappointed that the burger fell apart instantly and the bun felt much bigger than the patty. Service was great. Bar stool was wonky and table was uneven 🫥
Hidden gem! Atmosphere of old Parisian bistro, feels like you are not in Toronto. Highly recommend steak and fries, steak just melts in your mouth. Great service and amazing cocktails. 5/5
The vibe was really good. The people were nice and the food was pretty nice. The salad was the best in our opinion, but the other two burger and croque madame were a bit heavy and just alright for us.
Came here on a Monday evening with some girlfriends and sat on the patio. Vidal was our server and he absolutely nailed the recommendations. I got the vegetarian dish and it was like eating a fluffy and crunchy mashed potato. Online says our table is reserved for two hours but after an hour and 40 minutes, we were asked to leave. It was done very nicely and with tact but just something to note if you plan on hanging around after to chit chat. Really great experience and super excited to come back!
Went for brunch on Saturday. We were greeted warmly and able go chose where to sit as we arrived at ~10:30am. We really appreciated the high quality of ingredients. The burger with fries and a side of aïoli were simply delicious. The salad with roasted hazelnuts and crumbed white cheese was very good. The cheesecake was nice as well. The also made a very nice latte. Service was friendly and efficient. We will be back!
Went for dinner with a friend and it was a lovely space to sit, chat, and laugh. The staff was friendly and the vegetarian option did what it had to do! Would recommend for a nice evening with friends.
One of the better service experiences in Toronto. Food never disappoints. Food
Will HAVE to come back again! Get steak frites.
Went to Milou with a good friend for steak frites dinner with a cocktail. Great food and drink. Good portions, steak perfectly made and reasonably priced for Toronto. Good vibe, not too loud, cozy ambiance. Service was good too -not too in your face, and not pushy by shoving ATM card machine after bringing the bill (which most places do). Just leaving the bill gives you a chance to breathe and figure out how you want to pay (e.g. split, etc.) and just not feel rushed to leave. Overall a great experience. Will go back!
Service was very slow and food was alright
Went there for coffee and hot chocolate today. Sat at the bar, the bartender was unbelievably kind and attentive. My sister and I will definitely be coming back!
Nice place, young vibe. Very nice server. $45 corkage. Nice bistro fare, but I give the edge to Le Baratin.
Food was exceptional. All staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. Highly recommend for a great dining experience.
Absolutely amazing brunch experience. The place with soul. Scrambled eggs with smocked salmon delicious. Decent cappuccino. European vibe Food : 5/5
Best escargots I ve had in Ontario so far
Lovely bistro tucked away on the Dundas West strip. An excellent selection of spirits and wine pair well with phenomenal food options
I saw the bad reviews say the staff here were rude, so I was scared going in. After visiting, Id say they are curt and not very warm. Its cool to have a French bistro in the city, the restaurant itself is very beautiful, although it is cramped. They didnt have a lot of vegan options for me, so I just had a baguette for brunch. I dont think Milou is made for me. Vegetarian options: Your options are either baguette, fries or a drink. Good luck.
Absolutely delicious. Indulged in the Bouillabaisse and Basque cheesecake and both were divine. The cozy atmosphere and exposed kitchen give it a lively feel. Friendly waitstaff. Will definitely recommend to friends when visiting Toronto!
Great vibe!
Confit duck is so delicious
I wish the food were better. The Bread Pudding was just a bit soggy, not crispy on top and presented in two slices. Duck confit skinny and not as they sau nothing to write about.
We had a great experience when we went for brunch on Milou. The staff were super friendly
I had this little thing with brie cheese. It was an appetizer. It was quite nice.
Great atmosphere
When I visited there for lunch, I enjoyed the food and services a lot so I decided to go back for dinner. However, their steak was very dry even though we ordered medium rare. Atmosphere and servers are nice always.
Came here for brunch on a rainy Saturday. It gets quite busy on the weekends so make sure to make a reservation! Decent service. They kept forgetting to refill my coffee. I recommend trying the croque madame and Milou breakfast.
Very good
Fresh juice is not pressed at home or during the day. Americanized French food ok but a bit greasy, prices are good
This place is very good looking! The style of it, such as an interior design and up to the kinds of plates that they are using - it s all very beautiful, and definitely makes you want to stop by there. I enjoyed my experience in there, although, on a sensitive matter, I found it a bit overpriced This is something that not everyone might agree on and I totally understand that for a nice atmosphere and service, it should be worth to pay more. Nevertheless, I believe that there are places in similar price range that have a better food-price balance. My recommendation is to check out ahead their menu and prices before visiting to make a decision on your own on whether it s reasonable for you!
Cute spot! We were served by Nathan who was very patient with our questions about the menu! I highly recommend the Duck confit. I recommend the patio sitting area in the summer
Bitter green salad. Delicious Croque madame Delicious Cheese and bread wonderful. Would definitely eat here again
Awesome brunch. Nice inside and on the patio. Great place to start your weekend.
Went for Thursday lunch, around 1:30pm. Restaurant was completely empty, super laid back vibes. Food was seasoned well but not too heavily. A bit pricey, especially the seafood platter but not outrageous for Toronto
Great patio
We ordered duck poutine and several croque Waited for like 40 minutes for the dishes on Saturday noon The pulled duck taates good, poutine is average level For croque, the taste is good but theres one sauce that has weird taste on the bottom layer which we dont like, taste a bit bitter
Just cute. I feel like there is no word need for Milou. Food is always amazing. Been here few times and this time I tried brunch for the first time. Tasty. Really lovely
My two friends and I went there for a dinner and we did love the ambiance. We also enjoyed the cocktails and wine however we thought each of our food was a little bit salty. We ordered burger, steak and the duck entrees.
Fantastic food and service with a great atmosphere
Lovely place with great food and service. Highly recommend
Ordered le american burger/sandwich which had veggies and omelette. The sandwich was too buttery and the dijon mustard doesn t go with it. Also the fries on the side were very oily for me. Customer service from the server was great. Food
Awesome space with great energy. Staff was very friendly and bartender was excellent. Excellent selection of appetizers and a great burger.
My friend and I were absolutely shocked by the service. Server could not have been more rude and disinterested. Hostess was not friendly either. It s unfortunate given that the food is so delicious. We had one nice server who brought us one of our drinks - we wished she served us the whole time!
Fantastic neighbourhood spot. Had post-work happy hour martinis and oysters. Oysters were on the tiny side but delicious, martinis were made well, and servers were very welcoming and very accommodating. Highly reccommend !
Came here on a Friday afternoon, around 2pm. Wasn t very busy, but the service wasn t very warm or attentive. Didn t kill the experience overall, but I find it s worth mentioning. Food was just what I wanted! I ordered the burger since I was in the mood and it definitely delivered. Love the space, I sat outside on their side patio and it was just lovely.
Had the onion soup which had little flavor. Ordered a terrine which came six small pieces of sliced baguette, clearly not enough. Asked for more bread and they brought 1/2 of a frozen baguette which costs $6! Bread is the staple of French restaurants. It should be on the table at all times. Charging for it is akin to making customers pay for ketchup at burger joint.
Food was great, tartar was amazing. Cocktail was alright, nothing special. Very nice casual laid back vibe Food
Being French and living in Toronto for several years, I wanted to rediscover Parisian bistro cuisine. Simply put, dont go there. I ordered steak fries and felt like I was eating a block of salt, both for the steak and the fries, with a pepper sauce that tasted like butter. I always ask to take away the leftovers, but this time, no. If youre looking for local cuisine, youll be disappointed. If youre looking for a French-style experience, you will be too. The service is what it is, we sit you down, we come by two or three times to ask you if everything is okay and thats very good. At the same time, were not in a Michelin-starred restaurant, so I wasnt expecting anything more. Finally, its expensive for what it is. Im a French person who has been living in Toronto for a few years, I was craving Parisian bistro cuisine. In a few words, dont go there. I ordered a steak fries and felt like I was eating a block of salt, both for the steak and the fries, with a pepper sauce that tasted like butter. I always ask to take the leftovers home, but not this time. If youre looking for authentic French cuisine, youll be disappointed. If youre looking for a French experience, you will be too. The service is what it is: they seat you, come by two or three times to ask if everything is okay, and thats perfectly fine. Its not a Michelin-starred restaurant, so I didnt expect anything more. Expensive for what it is.
Food was ok. Service was unusual - we were served by several different people. It is a lively atmosphere. The seating for a group of 7 is a narrow table with the bar stools - very tight space and hard to have all the plates and cups. Water is served in small, cheap glasses. We expected a wow effect food - food was good but not wow that we expected.
Ive never had a bad meal from this cute little neighborhood spot - but whats compelling me to write today was my server... I wish I could remember his name, I think it was Jeremy. Tall dude, tattoos, adorable, worked the day shift this past Tuesday 6/11. He was exceptional given the current state of customer service everywhere (TRASH), took his time with us to make sure we tasted our wine choices and found one we loved, and even asked the kitchen to make my favourite (croque monsieur), even though the breakfast menu had recently ended and it was well into lunch. Dear owners: please treat this man as the gift to your establishment that he is ... he really made our entire day!
The ambiance is vintage with a laid-back French vibe. The food also tastes great. Recommended dishes: Steak and Fries ($36): I am very satisfied with the quality and doneness of the steak, and the fries are crispy. Dipped in the accompanying sauce and black pepper gravy, its really delicious. Bitter Greens ($19): The vegetables are fresh and refreshing, paired with nuts for a rich texture. Since I don t eat goat cheese, I requested to have it removed. The slightly bitter taste and mildly sweet dressing go well with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, making it a low-calorie and substantial salad perfect for pairing with wine. Its worth mentioning that the stairs to the restroom are quite steep, so please be careful when using them. Vegetarian options: Do have vegetarian choice Parking: Green p
Mixed feelings review- hopefully they take it constructively from big supporters to fix and improve experience. The chef is the biggest asset of the joint. The ower(s) are passionate but too disconnected from the clientele. That leaves management in charge. Real shame. Their engagement and skills are not to par - mostly do not care.
Over priced and under delivered. Couldnt keep up with the brunch rush. Maybe seat less?
Must try their steak and frite! Great vibes, perfect for dates, girls night out and celebrations. Small place so make sure to make resos well in advance
Big fan of the veggie portions - the Brussels sprouts and etc on the duck confit were great. Duck itself was kinda dry. My gf got steak frites and they were kind of rubbery.
The French server made my day and recommended me the best dishes after my weak attempt to say what I needed :D Food was outstanding, the basque cheesecake is a must.
Milou is a nice little stop in France, in downtown Toronto! Everything about it is lovely - the food, the decor, and the service are all so great! My friend and I are definitely planning on coming back to try other menu items! Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian food options, one of them being the Croque-Monsieur and Croque-Madame!
Are you dumb, are you stupid? I ll take my steak medium rare with a side of fries and a glass of Lambrusco If not a Kronenbourg will do. I ve been coming here since it opened. Genuinely one of my favourite restaurant in the city. 10/10
Food was great. But the hostess and restaurant did not get back to their email and have no way of calling them. They automatically put you at high tops if you have 6 people and don t properly communicate when you requested a table. They then placed us at a table outside and it was freezing. Great restaurant if you re seated inside. Would be nice if they responded faster to their reservation email. I had sent a note 2 days before and they called me day of 45min before.
The steak frites are amazing
This is a cute restaurant, it will remind you of a place that s straight out of France however the menu is very limited. Their brunch, lunch and main menu are all different and some food items are not available based on the hours. We came in to try the burger but couldn t because it was in the lunch menu and we came around 6. I would not recommend it if you are a picky eater.
Visited this quaint diner, attracted by its cozy vibe and the close-knit seating arrangement, which makes it a popular spot for first dates. The small tables and proximity to other guests do create an intimate atmosphere. However, while the ambiance has its charms, the culinary experience left much to be desired. The menu, though seemingly promising, ultimately fails to deliver. The dishes we tried were unremarkable, lacking the flavor and excitement. Unfortunately, I cant say the food was memorable or worthy of recommendation. Service was a mixed bag. While the overall staff demeanor was ok, our main server displayed a puzzling attitude. Interactions felt unnecessarily challenging, with simple questions about recommendations, menu details, and portion sizes and was met with bewildering responses. It felt as though every inquiry was a chore, with answers provided grudgingly, if at all. Despite the service hiccups, there was a redeeming moment when the staff acknowledged forgetting our oysters order. We appreciated their willingness to rectify the mistake without charge, especially since the oysters, much like the rest of our meal, didnt live up to expectations. This gesture was a small consolation in an otherwise underwhelming dining experience.
Lovely lunch date spot! Ordered the streak frites, delicious, the best I have had since ordering the same in France. Such a nice ambiance and feel to the place, kind staff, delicious food. Food
Delicious food and fast service. Busy spot. Great steak frites w peppercorn sauce. The escargot was tasty too! Food : 5/5
What a wonderful culinary experience. Ordered steak tartare, escargot, steak frites and cheesecake. The steak frites stole the show. Absolutely scrumptious. Tender and well flavoured. Best steak I had in my life. 100% will be coming back for more steak frites lol
Stopped in with a friend for lunch, we each had a cocktail (mine was virgin) and the burger with fries. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful and gave the perfect amount of space. The food and drinks were delicious- cannot recommend the fries enough, they were amazing. Overall, the place had a nice atmosphere, kind of cozy, albeit a little busy, but thats just testament to how good this place is
New fav bistro.
Overall excellent experience, great food and service. Best dirty martini Ive ever had, and a fantastic seafood tower. This will be joining the regular rotation of restaurants.
Simple, delicious, decadent.
Went for brunch, food is tasty but pricey for what you get. Pretentious service which I didnt quite enjoy. Cool to check out but probably wouldnt go back.
love this spot - the steak frites/french onion soup are delish
Excellent breakfast of scrambled eggs with creme fresh, sourdough toast and double smoked bacon.
Nice vibe very cozy place to hangout with friends grab some delicious cocktails, wines and food .
Great burgers and fries.
Horrible service.
Everything was so amazing, the fries were unreal.
I went to this place with high expectations, but the taste was more ordinary than I expected. I had Croque Madame for brunch, The Croque Madame was a bit greasy because there was a lot of cheese and ham, but the sour sauce took away the greasy taste so it was good to eat. The quantity is enough for one meal. Its not a special taste, but I think it would be nice to try it at least once. The store interior was pretty and the staff were friendly!
Came here for a friends birthday and left blown away by our dining experience. The ambience is always intimate and beautiful but our effortless service from Michael and the rest of the team was unforgettable. They even played a song that they heard the birthday girl at our table was singing which was such an extra special touch. The food was amazing but the thoughtfulness from the staff really stood out over anything. Thanks so much for a really special night milou!
Went today for dinner. Waitress was very snooty..If this was in Paris it would be ok...however, just because some of us are not wine drinkers doesnt mean we deserve the attitude. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Bill on the higher side for casual dining.
Went for a chill, catch up with a friend. It was a Monday night and we weren t expecting much but we were very pleasantly surprised! The vibe is so cute and inviting, definitely makes you feel as though you could be elsewhere in the world. The menu is great, with a good amount of classics in addition to unique offerings. The drinks, excellent (Mondays are half price wine!) But the real icing on this cake is the service. Laura and the other server (Curtis, maybe?) took care of the whole restaurant so seamlessly, and with (seemingly) zero stress. They were the kind of servers who turn a casual outing into a core memory. 10/10 recommend. Definitely will be back with more friends. A new favourite go-to. Thank you!!
Milou is one of the best brunch spots that I ve been to so far. My friends and I went there early since we had a reservation at 10AM. Staff was friendly. Food was great! I had their Milou breakfast which had soft scrambled eggs, toast and smoked salmon. I also had their fries. The alioli dip for the fries was so good! I ll definitely be back for their dinner service because their dinner menu looked interesting! The vibe was good too. I love how it feels like it s a local spot. It s relaxed and chic. Love it! Would highly recommend.
A really cute and cozy French restaurant! Came here for brunch with my mom and we had a really good time. The service good and the food was delicious! This was my first time trying a croque madame and I really enjoyed it. I also tried some of my mom s plate, which had the scrambled and bacon. I would try that next time with the smoked salmon. I do wish they had more options for brunch, but I would probably come back for their dinner service too.
This was delectable. The crispy mushrooms might be one of the best things I ve ever eaten. Very small menu (because it s a bistro) so maybe not good for kids or vegans
Came here for dinner as we were craving steak frites! Very much Parisian vibes on entry. We can never usually decide if we want steak or clams so we ended up with both. We started with the caesar salad and the crispy bacon on top is chefs kiss. The french onion soup was tasty but we ve had better (could pass). The steak frites were deliciously seared with a crispy rim on the exterior and it came with a side of peppercorn sauce and the fries were thick cut, moist and light. The clams were tasty as well but cooked in likely a curry/white wine broth - not my first choice for flavouring but still interesting. We ended the night with a basque cheesecake which was also delicious. Overall great vibes, good/attentive service and would definitely return for brunch.
Really lovely restaurant and staff. Stopped by for a solo dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the crispy mushrooms and cheese dish.
Cozy vibe. Tasty drinks. Great service. For food we liked the French onion soup, bitter salad, and lemon tart. Our steak frites was not good. Table beside complained about theirs too, so maybe an off night in the kitchen. Would try again and go back for brunch.
Added to the waitlist, hostess said 30 minutes, never texted me, gave up after 2 hours!
Food here was incredible and service was fast. Felt a little rushed due to going on New Year s Day and having a few people without bookings requesting a table. Food was undeniably delicious though.
Been wanting to try Milou since we moved to Dundas W and it did not disappoint. When you walk in, you get the sense that everyone there are regulars - it feels cozy and local and a quiet kind of chic. Every item was delicious. I had the smoked salmon croissant and it will live on my head rent free for months the to come. Perfectly balanced, light, fresh and just decadent enough. My partner had the Croque Madame and said it was very good but a little heavy on the ham. The coffee was perfect and so was the dessert (half portion). I really don t have a single complaint, everything front the atmosphere to the service to the food was spot on. Put this on your list of must-try brunches in the city! Dietary restrictions: Not many options for dietary restrictions, limited menu
This place reminds me so much of the bistros back in Paris. Service was super friendly, and the duck confit is definitely up there for me! The scrambled eggs were also so good! The menu is limited but they are such good staples. Definitely give it a try!
Had the best time. My gluten and dairy free allergies were accommodated. Amazing food and service. Great place to celebrate a birthday.
Great food and a chill vibe. Slowly becoming a go to spot for lunch. Always come for the duck confit for lunch...it is next level. Pairs great with the elderflower hibiscus Lemonade. Today I had the burger, with fries and the lemonade again. The bun can get away from you a little bit it managed to hold its shape as I was finishing the burger. Fries come with mayonnaise for that true French feel. Great spot in the summer with their patio. Usually not super busy for lunch outside the summer season. Parking: Tons of street parking in the area.
Milou had been on my list for a while, and with all the reviews I had high hopes for this place. We got the 1/2 dozen ousters, tartare, french onion soup, and the steak frites (not imaged). For drinks, we went with the waiter s recommendation, and the Cabernet was really good and heavy-bodied. The oysters were fresh. The french onion soup was good as well but not as rich as I have had in other places downtown. Our main issue was the tartare. The only thing you could taste was mustard/pickles, and you would get mostly pistachios with every bite. That dish was a disappointment. The steak frites were good. The peppercorn sauce was great, the steak was cooked medium rare to perfection and it was soft. But again, I have had much better steak frites in the area. The seating situation is a bit confusing too if you are a party of 2, as you get the corner seats next to the window, which can easily get cold. I had my coat on throughout the dinner. Also, it s booth-like with no back so after a 2-hr meal you re almost leaning on the window or the table next to you. I probably would not come back to milou for dinner, maybe for brunch.
Came here as a party of two. The atmosphere is really loud at night, it s hard to hear the server or anyone at your table. The server didn t tell us any of the specials, we only heard of them later from the next table over. We felt rushed out by our server, potentially because we weren t drinking. The food was ok. Ceasar salad was fantastic but the steak frites was nothing to write home about. We ve had much better in the area. The steak was tough. We ordered the basque cheesecake and while it was good it took forever to come. This place was on our list for a while to visit and I had high hopes based on the reviews but unfortunately we likely won t return. Maybe for brunch.
Cozy quaint restaurant that is perfect spot for a cold winter night. Enjoyed a beautiful evening catching up at the bar seating. The Fondu is a must have and the service was wonderful. Our server (the bartender) was knowledgeable and thoughtful end ensured top notch hospitality. Looking forward to checking out the Brunch menu next!
Good food, good vibe. A tad overpriced and hit or miss service.
Went here for dinner with a friend. Not sure wed either of us rush back. They are very fixated on setting times for people to eat and leave. Their web site said 1.5 hours for 2 people but their reservations system said 2 hours. They twice told us wed have to leave by 8 although they had other tables for 2 empty. We also told the waiter, early on, we needed separate checks. Then, when he came over at the end of the meal he said: So, one bill, right? and denied wed told him about the separate checks. No, you never told me. The place also gets very noisy as they keep the sound system on high even after the place has filled up. So, Milou isnt a spot for quiet dining or a leisurely meal, nor is it a good place for slow eaters.
Really disappointed after going here during Do West Fest - they charged $16 for a tiny one-ounce spiked lemonade. They also closed their bathrooms so, after spending so much money on our drinks, we had to use the festival porti potties.
The food was delicious, however the service was terrible. We were told by the hostess a table outside was being cleared off for us and to go wait there. We sat at the table after it was cleared and another hostess came over with two customers that were behind us in line, and stared at us awkwardly without saying anything until we got up. The hostesses didn t apologize for their mistake - they did however give us a table 5 minutes later inside, but our waitress was downright rude and seemed annoyed the entire time. Quite disappointing and wouldn t rush back anytime soon.
The quality of food is amazing! Crispy Mushroom was tasty and delicious. Nice presentation. Basque cheesecake slice was near to omg level. Very very good There is at least one vegetarian option on each section like appetizer and main dishes. Luckily, I got a chance to drop by here last time. Enjoyed the food! will definitely drop by again for brunch.
Visited here for breakfast, cozy spot and amazing staff, the coffee was also amazing. I loved the service and how lovely the staff were. The food was also very good and fresh. We ordered the milou breakfast and croque madame. I loved the croque madame, very creamy and delicious. Overall it was a great experience.
*Homer drooling* Nothing more needs to be said - some of the best food Ive ever had! Food : 5/5
Dropped by for brunch not realizing that it was a different menu. I got the Milou burger which was very good I will be back for the dinner menu
Steak and frites are great!! Steak done as requested, I did wonder about the cut as it is a little fiber-y or flaky but it was good anyway. The fries were crispy and salted well, the sauce garlic sauce was great with it. Service definitely can be better, in terms of speed and friendliness. We sat outside and that was a vibe.
Unbelievable food and service. Ambience is impeccable.
Loved the vibe of this place, but I wouldnt eat here again - Id come back for drinks and appetizers only. The service was 5/5, the food was a 2/5. The salad was great, but the steak frites were horrible! The meat had no taste and was chewy - not good quality meat. Really surprised to hear people say the steak is good...also found a piece of hair on my plate, but it was after I was almost done, so didnt mention this to our waitress. Ambience was really nice and service was quick, friendly and attentive.
Good but wouldn t go back. Escargots and fried mushrooms are way over salted and I love salt. We were not told that the app size was made to share. Seems like this spot is for the hip instrgram younger crowd as it all looks nice but there is better food to be had elsewhere.
I loved the foods! Everything was tasty!! The service was excellent, our waiter was very friendly and the atmosphere there was amazing!
Hard to do better, we are picky but this place is just perfect.
A lovely little bistro! Exterior is so charming and felt like we were transported to a small French neighbourhood. For food we got their escargot & steak tartare for appetizers and steak frites & duck confit for mains. The mains were definitely the highlight for us: both meats were incredibly juicy and tender. Apps were good but a tad lacking: the pistachio on the steak tartare was a bit overpowering. Escargot was a bit tough, but it did come with bread which went well with the sauce. Friendly service and food was served at a good pace. Only note is that it was a pretty hot day and it didn t seem like there was A/C inside. Overall a pleasant dining experience, will be back to try their brunch next time!
I had walked past this place and had been wanting to try it. Overall, it was a great experience. I really loved the cool chill vibes. It s not as crazy busy and loud as on Ossington. You can hear each other talk. I went on a Friday evening. Staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Service was great. It looks like they do take reservations . We just walked in and we re lucky to get a table on the patio. Their oysters were very good. I really enjoyed my duck confit. It has a good amount of salad and awesome crispy potatoes. We also got the steak frites which was very good. It was nice and tender and the sauce was great. I was a bit disappointed they only offer 2 desserts as I love desserts. But I can understand that if you want to serve high quality food and be consistent, smaller menu is best and that s what they have. We did enjoy their basque cheesecake. It is rarer to find in Toronto so that was great that they offer it. Definitely recommend this place and will come back for brunch.
We only got appetizers which were quite good. -1 star for the martini which wasn t great. Service is spectacular and our waiter was very helpful.
Burger was overpriced. Asked for no onions on my burger but still got them. Asked for ketchup and got a meager portion. Croque madame was delicious and plentiful for the price. Temperature a bit too warm.
Probably the most under seasoned food I ve had in Toronto. Steak frites came out warm, and service was extremely under par. Seemed like it was inconvenience to our server to keep water topped up or to get plates cleared. Save your money lads.
Great neighbourhood spot with a well thought out menu. Food is always solid. Atmosphere is great. Only sore spot is service, which can be slow or inattentive (last two times they either forgot something on my order or got it wrong).
Cute bistro with a very Parisian cafe vibe! The food was good, but the wine was great. Also love the outdoor patio.
Poor service Bad experience Service
The worst dining experience ever. It was the first time in my life to encounter such treatment at a restaurant in Toronto. The servers had an extremely poor attitude. They said, If you dont like my attitude, you can leave. Later, they even rolled their eyes at us and slammed plates on our table. At that moment, I seriously considered calling the police because this kind of attitude was only directed at our table. This led me to leave a tip of 0.1 for the first time!
NEVER EVER WENT TO THIS PLACE!!!! It was the first time in my life to encounter such treatment at a restaurant in Toronto. The servers had an extremely poor attitude and they do care who you are even you are a customer but you have to act like you are the servant. They said, If you dont like my attitude, you can leave. That s ridiculous. Later, they even rolled their eyes at us and slammed plates on our table. At that moment, I seriously considered calling the police because this kind of attitude was only directed at our table. This led me to leave a tip of 0.1 for the first time
food is pretty good and reasonable price. Our server was nice too, but the woman that appears to be the manager has a terrible attitude. It s almost like being in Paris, so maybe it s intended as part of the experience.
The steak frites are some of the best I ve had in the city! The octopus salad was good, service was a little weird and not too busy but a quaint little spot, good for a date night
By far my favourite place to take folks both visitors and local. The brunch is so good with large portions (no matter what you order the portions are generous). The staff, always welcoming, charming and knowledgeable. It is my forever place, so dont you dare go anywhere!!!
We have been there twice and enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Patio is available.
Can get better steak frites elsewhere.
I tried the duck confit, it was okay. The service and the ambiance were amazing!
The 4.2 ratings here make sense. Milou is so-so when it comes to the food, but service here is known to be bad! My friend and I tried coming here and upon arriving, we were greeted with were busy by one of the staff and they left... No hi how are you, or even a better way to say Im sorry were very busy right now, please wait a few minutes. I mean sure, they were busy and almost full, but thats not the way to talk to your customers. Anyways, after 15mins or so, they finally came back and we decided to just get takeout out because we didnt want to add more burden to the poor staff working...
Exquis! Consistently booked out for dinner, its easy to see how with the manager Katie and the Milou team showcasing the menu each night. The space is bustling yet cozy with a distinctive bistro air of good wine by the bottle and impassioned conversations all around. The cocktails, wine and food are all excellent. UPDATE: Arrived for brunch, coffee and scrambled eggs were solid, the Croque Madame is divine.
Been meaning to try this place out since moving to the area and it did NOT disappoint. Service was great, food was excellent, and its just generally a really cute place to sit and chat over a couple glasses of wine and a really wonderfully done meal. Will be coming back to try the dinner menu!
Great food, cute interior. Steak frites were tender & cooked to perfection. Duck confit was amazing, highly recommend. We tried escargot as well and we loved it!
Cute spot. Great and attentive servers. Brunch was amazing.
Such a great spot - this is a spot that specializes in a few special dishes and executes them perfectly. We had a great anniversary dinner and made our way through their menu step by step. They have a great steak tartare, a very tasty fried mushrooms, which were a great lead-in for their steak frites, which were deliciously divine. Their Caesar salad garnished with a giant strip of bacon was a major standout as well. All that said, it was the friendly and thoughtful service, and quirky French-inspired setting that really put this place over and above expectations.
Steak frites were okay. My steak had a very grey colour, while someone else I was with looked better. Taste was decent, but Ive had better for cheaper. Fat could have been seared more as well. Id also expect something better than the McDonalds ketchup ramekins for the peppercorn sauce and mayo. They started to disintegrate by the end of the meal. Kinda disappointed since everyone always hypes this place up. Escargot was good but very salty, even as someone who loves salty foods.
Duck confit and steal frites were both delicious. The meat was well cooked and the sauce pairing is amazing. The decor and the atmosphere is lovely too.
I tried the Milou Breakfast! Great choice, mushrooms were amazing and tasty. Also, the service was quick and the place is great and warm. Ill definitely go back!
Had a great brunch. 4 of us walked in early on a Sunday and were able to get a table. Croque Madam was perfect! A great neighbourhood addition!
Good food, I would recommend the Bitter Greens salad. But I got charged for 2 cheesecakes when I only had one. They probably got confused, because there were two plates on the table this is very unfortunate and I wish I caught the mistake sooner!
Very nice outside patio, great brunch.
Friendly staff and delicious food! Have been wanting to the this spot out for their croque madame and it was so good.
Everything was amazing would recommend as a date spot
Best brunch!
Food was super delicious, though it is a very small menu (for dinner at least). Best apple pie I ve ever had in my life . Service was great and vibes were good. Would recommend and will return!
Their attitude is the worst
Really enjoyed the cocktails and food. Salad was amazing and steak frites is probably the best i had for the price, definitely recommend
Very cute corner spot with an inviting interior. We ordered the cirspy mushrooms (photo), steak frites, duck confit, and basque cheesecake. Highlight was definitely the crispy mushrooms and basque cheesecake, super tasty. I found the steak frites good and cooked to my requested preference but tasted like salt was used to compensate for flavour. We booked on resy and showed up 15 min late due to TTC service disruption (stuck between stations) and were still seated. Unfortunately, there was no way to reach the restaurant (no option on the Resy app despite claims for there to be nor a phone number). Service was good, our waiter had great personality; however, we experienced a delay for our entrees (+20 min) because they were accidentally delivered to the wrong table. Totally understand mistakes but it wouldve been nice to see some compensation (e.g., covering the coke or dessert I ordered).
Garbage service on Saturday September 30 afternoon from the lady server. Ruined our experience.
Amazing experience overall! Benjamin our waiter was so great and friendly :) food was delicious, got the shrimp cocktail with homemade sauce that left us wanting more, the Niçoise salad is not the typical French version but the variation with the tuna steaks worked well, others at my table loved the steak and the duck. Good wine selection. Cocktails were standard. The ambiance was lovely too. Coming from a French family 1 we can say this felt pretty authentic with a local twist!
A top spot! Always wanted to go here and had our first experience tonight. Amazing staff, great vibe, and superb food & drink. Felt like dining at a good friend s house with the 1:1 attention. Thank you Benjamin & team; will be back soon!
Great Experience. Even better scrambled eggs.
Love this place. Jackie was incredible!
a fine French restaurant
Absolutely amazing! Super happy with our meal, incredibly impressed with the caesar salad and the mushrooms. Service was excellent as well. One of my new favourites.
Glorious steak frites
Love this place. So consistent and great brunch options. Service is friendly and the feeling inside is great summer or winter. Can be a bit of a line but always moves. Highly recommend.
A true French bistrot vibe with a small but very well curated menu. We shared an amazing tartare accompanied with two glasses of beajolais nouveau (last glasses they had so we were lucky) which was amazing. Very cozy atmosphere ideal for a date, will definitely be back!
Steak is inconsistent in quality everytime you come. Service was passive aggressive
Fast service. They have small kitchen and can see the food being prepared. Food is absolutely delicious. I had the classic croque madame and it s simply delicious, burger is also very good. Food : 4/5
I love the music they play here. The bartender was lovely and the steak frites were incredible. Will come back to try their cocktails!
Absolutely fantastic! Wanted to try here forever, and we weren t disappointed. The cheese was out of this world, steak was perfectly cooked and the choux pastry was crisp and delicious. Service was excellent and atmosphere was great. Prices were also super reasonable, especially for Toronto. Found a new go to spot, can t wait to come back!
Loved every bit of this place. Steak tartare was exceptional - the pistachios added a good crunch. Steak & Frites were wonderful- beautifully cooked. The staff and ambience were top notch as well and I would definitely return!
Really cool atmosphere. Cocktails were pretty good. Will be back!
We ordered brunch menu, food came out lovely. The waiters were all so kind, you need to check out their bathroom lol
Walking into Milou is like stepping out of Toronto and into a quaint Parisian bistro. The atmosphere is spectacular with a beautiful bar in the center and so many lovely decorations on the walls. Our server was so friendly and we had a lovely chat with her as she was serving us. The food transported me right back to Paris and was absolutely spectacular. If they have it, do not miss out on the lemon tart because I still have daydreams about it! Absolutely do not hesitate to give it a try, we will definitely be back.
tasty, great service, & coffee too!
