Brick-lined bistro serving Belgian-Canadian comfort food made with seasonal ingredients all day.
Very nice, quick attention. The waffles were beautiful, tasty. It was a great decision to start the day in this place. We almost give up on the long line but we stayed there patiently. I think it was worthy.
Came for the Benny but loved the Waffles instead. I cannot express how amazing the waffles are. However they are expensive for their portion size.
Tried out Petit Dejeuner for the first time! Went around 12:30/1ish, and though there was a small lineup, it went by pretty quickly. Inside it’s a bit dark, especially as you move towards the back of the restaurant, but ample seating for 2/4 guests. I got the Waffles Benedict, and I loved this dish because I got to have both savoury and sweet breakfast items. Their waffles were perfect and airy, though I was craving 1 more, and the eggs benny was yummy! Also appreciated the apple slaw as opposed to classic potatoes on the side. My partner seemed to enjoy his Hungry Man plate! Service was great, wish the drink items (specifically the juices) were a bit easier to understand (my table and the table next to me didn’t understand the differences as it sounded like there were only 2 options but really it was separate drinks). Would definitely go back and try other dishes!
Pretty descent breakfast spot. The benedict was good. The apple slaw was very nice. The waffles were excellent but I wish they were bigger. The location is a bit "grim" and dark for breakfast.
Lovely place for the brunch, we came around 11:00am Saturday and we saw a lane of 10 people. After 10 minutes the lady found a table for us, and she was super nice. Cosy place, chill atmosphere the place fare away from the touristic area. The food is very good with a big portion. You can custom up your breakfast if you are not sure to finish your meal like me.
Love love love the waffles! So light and crispy. I will definitely be returning to this spot for more. It will be difficult to order waffles anywhere else in the future. The eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was also super delicious, I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture of it.
My boyfriend and I have been eager to try Le Petit Déjeuner for a while, and our recent visit did not disappoint. We each started off with a latte, which was a perfect way to begin our meal. The lattes were smooth, creamy, and had just the right amount of kick to wake us up and get us ready for our breakfast. I opted for the Benjamin Benedict, featuring their in-house smoked salmon. The smoked salmon was exceptionally flavourful, with a rich, smoky taste that really stood out. It was perfectly paired with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, creating a delightful combination of flavours. The dish came with a side of apple slaw, which was surprisingly tasty and added a refreshing crunch to the meal. The home fries were a good complement, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, providing a satisfying contrast to the smooth texture of the eggs and salmon. My boyfriend chose the house smoked salmon omelette, which also came with a side of apple slaw, home fries, and bread. While the omelette with smoked salmon was a bit on the salty side, it was still enjoyable, with the same delicious smoky flavour adding a unique twist to the classic breakfast dish. The accompaniments were consistent with my dish, making for a well-rounded and satisfying meal. We were pleased to find that the wait time to be seated wasn’t too long, even though the restaurant is quite popular and small. Inside, the atmosphere was really nice, with a cozy and inviting vibe that made our dining experience pleasant. We were lucky enough to be seated in a booth by the window, which added a lovely touch to our meal as we enjoyed the view and natural light. Overall, our visit to Le Petit Déjeuner was very enjoyable. The in-house smoked salmon was a standout surprise, adding a rich and smoky flavour to both of our dishes. While the omelette was slightly salty, it was still good, and the Benjamin Benedict was a delicious choice. The atmosphere of the restaurant was charming and comfortable, enhancing our overall experience. We highly recommend Le Petit Déjeuner for anyone looking for a delightful breakfast or brunch spot. With its tasty food, pleasant ambiance, and reasonable wait time, it’s a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal. We rate our experience 4 out of 5 stars and look forward to visiting again.
A hidden gem because the review from another site does not reflect our experience… The food is excellent so we came back a second time over the weekend to try other items on the menu, and the quality is consistent with great taste. The waffles are freshly made and the eggs Benedict are absolutely amazing. The omelette was as good as expected on the second day. Our new place to go whenever we will be visiting Toronto. Definitely worth a detour when you are in town!
Fantastic meal and service as always, bennie and omelette on point!
The meal is extremely good, and it arrived quickly. The place is small and a bit cramped, but the food is delicious.
Food was average. Ordered a Spanish coffee, just a few drops of rum in there watered-down coffee. Cist me $20. My eggs were pre salted and peppered, which I didnt like. Smoked salmon was extremely salty. Only one server, the bartender who looked like it, didnt want to be there at all. Will not recommend this place.
A small cozy restaurant with a vintage decor. Great service and a varied breakfast menu.
So disappointing. I always walked past this place and saw busy lineups on weekend mornings. So, my friend and I took a weekday morning off, and came to Le Petit Dejeuner (I ll refer to it as LPD) for brunch. We both ordered the famous Belgian waffles (mine was with Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict Belgian Waffle, hers was the berry waffles) and my friend stopped eating because something tasted off, slightly fishy. She looked at the waffle and there was surely something grey-brown and blotchy cooked into her waffle batter. She told the host/manager that she saw something weird in the waffles she also showed her and was concerned about contamination. The manager apologized and offered my friend to have another meal made to replace her bad dish. My friend and I were pleased with the customer service until this point. What happened next is that the chef actually came out and confronted my friend. He told her that she was wasting food, that his Belgian waffles are the best/famous, and that if she doesn t like them, maybe she doesn t have the palette to appreciate good cooking. The chef was incredibly condescending, rude and accusatory. My friend was honestly trying not to eat contaminated food. She s not trying to waste food. If a customer gets food poisoning, the liability falls on the restaurant. The chef clearly has an ego and I can t believe he would come out and berate a customer like that. Over his bad waffles. Even other diners at the restaurant around us looked appalled. Anyhow, the Belgian waffle chef was so aggressive in his confrontation that my friend cried. The chef figuratively and literally gave my friend a poor taste of LPD. I am upset because my friend and I was just trying to have a nice meal on our morning off, which, again, we took off so we could spend time together. This definitely left a damper on the day. I m glad that the host apologized for the chef s behaviour and comped the experience. She offered to enforce that the chef make another meal, but we no longer wanted to eat there anymore so we both packed up and left. The manager ended up giving us a complimentary meal to apologize for our experience and invited us back another time, but I m doubtful that we would come back to LPD for brunch. One thing I won t deny is that LPD is a quaint, vintage/historic looking spot so I understand the appeal and charm of the place. But if we re talking about the food, it is nothing special. The chef needs to get off his high horse. Don t come here. There are certainly better places for brunch.
One of the best brunch spots in the city, in my opinion. The food came fast, staff were very helpful in providing options and it was finger licking good!
The waffles were nice, but for 20 bucks I except two eggs in an eggs benny.
Came to Toronto for a couple of shows, and hit Le Petite Déjeuner for breakfast after a recommendation from the hotel. As we walked up we were assured that we were in for a good experience as there was a long queue outside (on a chilly day in December) so it must be worth it and it was. Had the spinach and Brie omelette, so fluffy and flavourful. From the food, to the service to the old episodes of UFO on the television it was truly a fulfilling experience and worthy of its praise and reputation.
Get this: ONE shot of espresso for $5, served with a side of attitude. Even if its the best coffee in the entire universe, which it isnt, a single shot does not command that type of pricing, especially when the young bartender followed it up with poor customer service. I suggested they lower the price so as not to discourage future business, and she simply shrugged it off. Poor form all around. I can understand paying $3 maximum for a single shot, but not $5.
Very good coffee, my husband ordered for pulled pork on egg benedict it was so delicious, my benny on smoked salmon was superb as well as my daughter s waffles which was crunchy & tasty. Overall, this is best brunch in toronto so far. A bit pricey but u get what you pay for with an Excellent customer service from the staff.
The vibe was great but the experience it was overrated. Waffles were solid but not extraordinary. Portions lacking. Price was outrageous. $90 for a juice, small side of potatoes, their standard breakfast, and one waffle with one poached egg.
Dark disinterested almost inedible brunch!
Le Petit Déjeuner is a true neighbourhood gem. My everyday brunch go-to for 7+ years. Known for the best, real Belgian waffles in TO - yes! - but their benny s, lunches & dinners also special. Super fresh, made with care & fantastic vintage vibe. Great energy, relaxed, fun. Amazing staff.
One of the best breakfast spots. Theres usually a line up, thats the only downside.
I don t usually go for sweet breakfast items but I was in the mood for fresh fruit, the waffles are not too sweet, not too heavy, just perfect.
The waffles are so good I almost got more to-go! My partner and I got the waffle melody and Id definitely reccomend it. This place is for sure worth the detour
Waiting out there for bout 15min in the morning, the food didn t let me down at all, the waffle are so crispy, so good, the size is perfect for person who doesn t eat that a lot, definitely top1 waffle in Toronto city!!!!!!!
Quite the mixed experience here. The food was really good (especially the waffles) but was unfortunately stone cold. The smell coming from the downstairs washroom was awful. We had to change tables.
This place is overhyped and not worth the wait. The menu is confusing, with about 70% of the options being sweet. The food itself is nothing special, and the portions are small for the price. The restaurant is very cramped, filled with tables, and has a strange smell. It feels dark and more like a pub than a brunch spot. The waffles are dry and oily.
First time back here in 7 years, which was too long! But it was just as great as I remember. Croque Madame and strawberry waffles are outstanding.
Sercive was the most amazing aspect of this restaurant. To note, they also have a really great espresso machine. I recommend their cappuccino =)
Perfectly balance flavored for a breakfast! Apple slaw is very original and we tried their fresh beet/apple/ginger juice it was excellent!
A wonderful place with great food and great service. Highly recommend!!
Cute little cafe on King Street. Amazing food. Best waffles around!
Mediocre across the board.
The items we got were : - French toast with fruits (This was really delicious! The french toast was cooked perfectly, and the crispy parts added a nice contrast to the soft bread. There was a lot of fruit, and it was filling.) - Eggs Benedict Florentine (This was good but I would say the hollandaise lacked some tartness) - Belgian Waffle with Bacon & Egg Benedict (The waffle was sooo delicious! Lightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on this inside). The only thing that I was not a fan of was their home fries. There were carrots and celery in the home fries, and it wasnt crispy at all.
Great food and atmosphere!
great cosy breakfast place on Sunday morning with great service and good food. good price - quality. only point of improvement is the cutlery is of a very poor quality. forks and knifes can bend anyway you like. i m sure they will replace this with something more suitable to the rest of the quality of the food and service.
Wonderful waffle
My go-to place for brunch. Love their egg Benedict and scrambled eggs. 10/10 Food, service and ambience- Highly recommended! Food : 5/5
Food is fantastic. The service and atmosphere is great.
Very good breakfast and seems to be always crowded. Second time visiting. Almost closing time and was hoping to sit outside. Parking: TTC
The place is cute and cosy, however, the food didn t match up to the hype and was strictly average. The bacon was chewy, the waffle was just OKAY. Wouldn t pay so much for this standard of food honestly. Give this place a miss!
Service was friendly. French toast was very good. Apple-slaw accompanying the Croque monsieur has an acquired taste (personally).
Great food and friendly waiter, very busy (quite popular) so service was a little slow.
Great service the Benedict eggs were delicious they were perfectly cooked ands the waffles were extraordinary
The place is nice and the location is great, but the food doesn t match the hype and is very average at best. Disappointing.
The Petit Dejeuner is an adorable little breakfast and brunch location. Their service is fast and enjoyable, while the environment is both calming yet invites an aura of community and creativity. On the other hand, the food is delicious and leaves a craving for more! Overall, the Petit Dejeuner is a must go for anyone who wants a proper breakfast in Toronto! With love from Windsor!
A Great brunch spot in the East end. Highly recommend.
Friendly service and excellent waffles! The portion was smaller than expected, just one egg. Food
We loved everything about this place waitress was very nice and food was fresh and delicious, we went for brunch. Waffle was great
good place to eat
The waffle was light and crispy. The French toast was not too eggy. Nice food.
Good brunch, the waffles are great!
We really enjoyed this place. Waffles are amazing They are crispy and soft. Very delicious food in generous portions. Some culinary novelties and good atmosphere. Recommended for breakfast or brunch. 100%
I can t believe I never left a review for petit dejeuner! But let me tell you about this place, it cured my hang overs and fed me during my university years. I absolutely loved this place. It s been a while since I ve been there, because I m no longer in that area of Toronto any more. I always got the same dish, a smoked salmon eggs Benny with the hollandaise on the side. Service was also fantastic here! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I really need to make time and enjoy one of my favourite brunch spots again.
Bit of a wait to get in on a Saturday morning, but the food was great.
Great local breakfast place. Never had a bad meal there. Recommend going during the week because its busy on weekends.
Genuinely have no idea why people would go here. The food is mid but super overpriced, the portion is terrible and the vibes aren t even that good. Service was okay.
Decent dinner spot but Amazing breakfast spot
My wife and I were at the optic zone, opticians on Jarvis Street. We wanted to stop for a coffee on the way back to the car and found this charming place. And had a wonderful vibe. We ordered a couple of Americanos, which were truly superb. We are coming back.
Food is delicious, service friendly and prompt, definitely recommend
Loved everything. Service, food, music, staff.
I have never had Belgian waffles this good in my life!! This place is one the best Brunch spots in Toronto....its a must try!
Awesome. Amazing staff and just as great waffles. Really enjoyed our breakfast and the conversation with the staff. Would highly recommend.
Ordered a egg Benedict that comes with a waffle. Cant remember the name of itwas red pepper and onion egg Benedict. It is 17 flats, thought that they so at least give me 2 eggs, but came with 1 egg, so the portion is smaller then I thought. Food was ok, nothing exceptiona but also not 2 bad. . Slow service for a non busy day. Super dirty table and seat. I needed to wipe them myself. Wont come back
I went to Petit Dejeuner this morning excited to try the eggs benny, the first one arrived super runny, just slightly thicker than water* unfortunately I wasnt thinking of a photo of it at the time) , they offered to change it and the second one was Like 2 hard boiled egg. After another 15 minutes of waiting for my order the 3rd one was again a total disappointment. I dont see any reason to go back to this place...
Host not very welcoming and rude, and service feels a little overwhelming and snobbish, not very pleasant. Portions super small for the price. I asked the waiter that I want to speak with the manager and she said still in bed. Never come back.if you were in back y can t she call you . When we got there there was no line at all the fact there was 6 tables empty yes that worst place I been in my 53 years in Toronto
This is my go-to place for brunch every weekend! Love the food and atmosphere and it s a perfect place for a late breakfast. My favourite is their Eggs Benedict!
It was worth the wait to try the fluffy, blueberry buttermilk pancakes and the delicious coffee. Service was friendly, efficient, and kept the coffee flowing!
Had a delicious brunch here today. Arrived at brunch time and the wait was about 15 mins and well worth it. The waffles were yummy. Has a nice vibe. Food : 5/5 |
Still the best waffles in the city.
we waited maximum 10 minutes and we went around 10:30 ish on a Sunday. the service was very fast and we got our food with what felt like within 5 minutes. the food is yummy and the proportions are decent. service was good until the end, where she hadn t come back to our table for a bit so turn over for tables weren t rushed, felt bad because people have to wait outside for seating. Good safe choice to have breakfast/brunch at! (Excuse the terrible lighting of the photos lol)
Great atmosphere, and service. Food is amazing, get there as early as you can!
There was about a 10-15 minute wait when we arrived around 10:20 on a Sunday (turnover of the first group of customers as they open at 9). Overall it was pretty good and was comfortably filling despite it looking like a smal portion. Tried one of their specials which was a unique Duck Benny / Benedict for $28. The duck was very soft, fall off the bone, and quite tasty. Not a huge fan of the English muffin and home fries. The apple slaw was unique and good.
Waffles 10/10 Sausage 9/10 Scrambled eggs 8/10 Juice 12/10 I cleaned my plate which is rare for me in any restaurant
Fantastic waffles, bacon was cooked to perfection, the staff were all incredible and approachable. I dont usually like to sit at the bar but it made the wait time less on a busy day and it turned out to be a great choice having conversations with the staff about different restaurants to consider in the future.
I recently visited this place with high hopes after reading glowing reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfying. The quality of the food was extremely disappointing, lacking in both flavor and taste. The eggs seemed to be of the lowest quality, as did the other dishes; the fried potatoes were soggy, and even the coffee had no discernible taste. After seeing such positive reviews, I had expected a much better dining experience. However, I left feeling let down and unsatisfied. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this breakfast place to anyone looking for a delicious and enjoyable meal.
Very cool, cozy spot that makes you want to stay and hang out. Amazing waffles cooked with care. Hands down the best I have ever tried. Thank you so much Johan. You and your friends made for a very memorable Birthday. We will never forget it. Lots of love Derek and Jen.
A place that doesn t serve maple syrup with their pancakes is mediocre in my opinion. Overhyped and rude service.
I love this place. Absolutely love their apple slaw. Havent been there in a while see some changes to the menu. I was so looking forward to having the sausage loaf. But they got the typical breakfast sausages which were good. But nothing compared to that sausage loaf. Atmosphere is always good.
202310 I came here at noon on holiday and waited in line outside for ten or twenty minutes. It was a delicious brunch and the service was very good. I couldn t decide which of the two drinks to choose, but the clerk actually let me try it!
The food and service were awesome! I got the Hungry Gal with my eggs scrambled with a side of fruits, and it was really filling. Our server was also very quick and friendly. The space in the place was very tight fit, however. A solid place for a Sunday brunch spot!
Excellent food and service
Cozy breakfast place with great service. Recommendations were on point, egg benedict was nice. Crêpe was not what I expected, but was ok
Ambiance was nice, service was good however the food was just okay. Mainly I would suggest they increase the portion size of the food. The waffle Benny only comes with one egg, and the side of home fries comes on a small side plate with maybe 10 pieces at the most of fries. Overall, the size of the dishes just seemed a bit skimpy- we had to go to the bar next door to fill up afterwards.
Service was great! Food was super, super disappointing. We were expecting at least something standard, but we ate half our meals and left. Got the eggs benedict and hungry gal breakfast. Potatoes were undercooked, slaw was a strange combination of flavours, coffee was bad and portions were small. DO recommend the fresh juices as they were delicious. Plenty of better breakfast/brunch places in the area for $30/pp.
Indulge in a delightful morning escapade at Petit Dejeuner, nestled in the beating heart of Torontos bustling market district. This charming breakfast nook exudes character with its rustic vintage ambiance, transporting diners to a bygone era of leisurely brunches and whimsical conversations. As you step inside, the air is filled with the tantalizing aroma of sizzling bacon and the promise of perfectly poached eggs. From beloved classics like bacon and eggs to the indulgent allure of Bennies (eggs Benedict), theres a dish to satisfy every craving and ignite your taste buds with pure delight. But its not just the menu that sparkles at Petit Dejeuner; its the vibrant atmosphere that infuses each bite with an extra dash of magic. As you sip on their fabulous freshly squeezed juices, you cant help but feel a sense of rejuvenation, as if every drop is infused with sunshine and vitality. So, whether youre a seasoned breakfast connoisseur or simply seeking a morning pick-me-up, Petit Dejeuner beckons with open arms and a promise of culinary bliss. Prepare to be enchanted by its irresistible charm and leave with a smile as bright as the morning sun.
Very good brunch. The waitress took a while to bring us our coffee (it was very, very little) and told us that she was on the house. This place is really nice
Always great, best breakfast spot in the city
The waffles tasted like donuts - very unique flavour. Portions a bit small but still enjoyable. Prepare for a line on the weekend.
We had a great time! It Feels like an Irish pub but great breakfast place and I loved the atmosphere. Good service too! We had a great breakfast!
Amazing food & fantastic service. The slaw on the side of our breakfasts had a nice balance of sweet spice and sour.
A good place for brunch and vibes. Worth the wait out side tbh. But you know what, patience is a function of excellence. 3.75/5 food.
Wonderful breakfast spot with great service and atmosphere!
Amazing have to go back
Love the small but delicious menu
First time back at Petite Dejeuner in a number of years (pre-pandemic). Sadly, they seem to have stopped their lunch munu for an extended brunch one. Had the ham and cheese omelet, which was quite good. Service is still friendly and casual. The decor needs a redo as its looking tired and the whole bohemian vibe is done. All in all, still an excellent little restaurant serving quality dishes at a fair price.
Finally had the chance to check this place out today after countless recommendations from friends. Our wait for a table was around 15 minutes which was pretty reasonable given the chilly temperature outside. Food was served very quickly after ordering and our waitress was very nice and helpful despite messing up a couple of our orders (minor things like a croque madam vs croque monsieur and sunny side up eggs vs poached). We ordered a bit of everything but the things that really stood out to us were the croque madame/monsieur and the waffles. Freshly squeezed juices were also very good. Overall very happy with our experience and will definitely be going back!
I think it s ok to say that it wasn t my favorite smoked salmon benny nor did I think the Belgian waffles. I found the ridges of the waffles over cooked. The ambience was moody which I get but a bit too dark. But overall it was good. On the other hand the service was amazing and super attentive. Line up was about 25 minutes during peak time.
At 4/5 star it s the best service you will get in Toronto. If you re okay with waiting in line for a little over 30 minutes this place is a must for breakfast.
Warm and cozy, great service
This place is a well-oiled machine, and the food is incredible. Dont bother looking elsewhere for breakfast/lunch, just go!
Tasty breakfast, small but cozy place, good service. I liked Ham and Cheese Omelette. Espresso is not good.
Great place for breakfast, everything is fresh and very good, the place is in its own right but very authentic, I recommend if youre looking to start the day off right!!
The smoked salmon is done In house and it s sooo good. I highly recommend the smoked salmon eggs Benny.
Came here because of the good reviews but a bit disappointed. We ordered 2 Egg Benedicts (one with salmon one with premeal bacon) and the salmon one tasted quite salty. The latte was AWFUL for $4.25
Very unpleasant and haughty waitress who kept us waiting without even serving us, I strongly advise against using this place for breakfast. She yelled at me just because I asked her when we would have a table, if I could I would have given it 0 stars.
Everything I expected from a lowkey breakfast restaurant. You get that local vibe from it. Went there for Misch Misch birthday breakfast. first the pros, loved the vibe and static of the place, the food was really amazing, tasted really good, I got the smoke salmon bennies and Misch got the hungry gal. The coffee was also good, definitely a diner coffee. Now why I took one star away, the place was too dark for my taste, specially for a breakfast restaurant I kinda want lots of light. Now it s hard for them to get natural light as they face north but I think afew more ceiling lights would be just fine. The server was also friendly dude and he did check up on us which was great, but as far as rating, I give 5 stars to a server that goes an extra mile to make a conversation with you and asks you about your day. Overall I really liked the place for east Sunday morning breakfast. Parking: You can find street parking in next street Wheelchair accessibility: Street level
Worst experience I ever had! I was arriving here at 11:10 and waiting for my food for almost 1 hour. All the tables come after us either were having the foods or almost finished them while we are still waiting. We were actively checking with the order but the waitress kept telling us to wait. After waiting for like 40 min, we checked again with another server, a white man. He said he d go check but he barely did anything and just come by and said it s coming . He was not even looking at us while saying that, super rude and walked away right away. For the first time after 2 years living in Canada, I feel like I was being racial discriminated. We left at 12:05. We didn t have the chance to have the food since my friend s train back to Ottawa leaving soon and we don t have the pleasure to wait any longer. Hope the foods are worth it for the discrimination you might experience when going here.
Waited 20 min to get in. After 30min we ordered, we checked with the waitress, she did not do anything, just tell us it s gonna be 10 more minutes. We waited another 20 minutes, noticed other two tables ordered behind us already got their food. So we asked another server, he said his going to check. And then he walk by us, standing really far away that we don t even realize he was talking to us, said it s coming without looking at us. We then find our waitress and telling her we are leaving. She said but the food is coming. (Where??) She laughed like we are being unreasonable. Btw, maybe Asian people should not come this place. Or you are going to be treat like this.
Best waffle Ive ever eaten
Deceiving: small portions, salmon too salty, few fries, slightly overpriced and the service is so so, waitress not very pleasant.
Food average, very small portions.
Good laid back place to get breakfast. The waffles were really good and so was the smoked salmon. Highly recommend to go!
Great breakfast
This place is not what it used to be before Covid. Menu is significantly smaller. Food quality has gone down and not worth the price with mediocre service. Used to be my favourite place for French Toast in Toronto and it s now like sub-par diner French toast. Also tried eggs Benny with waffles. Hollandaise sauce doesn t taste good (or fresh), apple slaw has weird sauce on it and ok waffles. Wont be returning.
AVOID this tourist trap. One would expect much higher quality food for the prices theyre charging. As you can see from the pictures, the dishes are bland and underwhelming. The scrambled eggs were dry and brown. The waffles tasted like they came from frozen and absolutely no fruit garnish was added (FYI, its little things like that people expect for a $20 breakfast dish). Greasy spoon food going for gourmet prices here.
Food was great, fresh ingredients and exactly as described. Real maple syrup and whipped cream served with the waffles. The hollandaise is well balanced and very good. Portions seem to have shrunk or scaled due to inflation and cost of goods. Service was friendly, but they seemed short staffed and a bit overwhelmed. Be prepared to wait for a table (around 15 mins on a Sunday)
hot chocolate is delicious, both meals are delicious
I loved the three cheese omelet. The place has a down to earth vibe to it and I really enjoyed my time there with friends, definitely worth the line. ***Beware: those dolls on the walls are replicas of the owner and his family.***
Fantastic food and service. Lovely waffles.
Tried to eat here today with my family, but the server was incredibly rude. Pushed us outside to wait behind the sign, which was fine. Open tables with no idea how long the wait would be.. my wife went and asked after 5 min and was told, Not sure. A simple smile, or good morning, the wait will be a few min would go a long way.
Not sure what the rave is about service was top tier. The waffle had a weird texture and taste, the food is pretty basic i think the presentation is amazing but for the price and amount not worth the waiting in line. Specially if you don t eat meat. The French toast however was absolutely amazing!
The waffle was insane, I can eat it every morning. Crunchy outside and soft inside.
Best brunch in Toronto! Quick service with no wait times! Iced Coffee drink with Bailey s is amazing and the eggs Benedict was divine
Good place for a breakfast in downtown core, people lined up for its open. Due to too many people ordered the same time, our food were served about 40 minutes after we ordered. Good vibes in the little hub, cute and quirky decorations. I definitely recommend here.
We came in to try this place out for some breakfast on a Sunday afternoon. There was about a 15 minute wait to get a table and then a few more minutes to place your order with the server. Service was very polite and attentive once the rush seemed to calm down though. We enjoyed the salmon Benedict and an omelette. Both were delicious so I d say it was worth the wait!
The food is great, definitely one of the best spots for brunch in Toronto! Servers are always amazing, very polite and attentive. Our favorite place in the neighbourhood!
If you schedule with your friends to meet here at petit desjeuner, make sure you all arrive at the same time: they won t allow you to sit before everyone arrives. Zero flexibility: customer service: 0.0
Food is not bad, but it is overpriced and the portion is small.
Came for breakfast this morning, waited for about 15 minutes which is understandable as it is a small place. The vibes are great, really cozy& I loved the music in the background. My eggs benedict was delicious& hit the spot! My only problem was the utensils! They were so flimsy and I found it very hard to cut up my food. But I will definitely be back!
Absolutely delicious waffles, but it felt like the portion size was a bit too small for the price, not too long of a wait in line seeing as they have such few tables (which actually makes for a cozy atmosphere) - very friendly staff and quick service :)
Very cozy with nice decor and good music. The staff were so friendly, and the food was INCREDIBLE. Thanks to Nikki and Heather for a great morning!
Enjoyed the eggs benny meal. The apple slaw was a pleasant surprise and one of my favourite parts of the meal. Also really appreciate them leaving you water at the table and making sure its refilled.
Its a Cozy friendly atmosphere.
Very good but the orange juice was not fresh. Still great thought I will def come back!
The spot is small and delicious. You should not be surprised if there is a wait, especially for larger groups.
I ordered a hot chocolate it was really nice but the quantity is not enough for the price. And the cappuccino I ordered didn t have enough milk. It was basically a Americano. And the food I ordered had to have fruits but I didn t get any. That s why I m giving 1 star for food. Taste was not the greatest or worst just okay.
I wish we got the name of the girl that served us, she was so friendly and her recommendations were spot on. The coffee was good. The French toast was buried under fruit, cream and syrup. Lovely.
Amazing place good food nice ambiance and staff AU TOP
It was a very nice experience, the waitress was very nice, the food was amazing !! i really recommend this address if you have to pass through Toronto
We ordered Benedict style Veronique waffles and Benjamin bennies. I loved the combination of salmon and porched eggs. Tried it for the first time.
Really fun atmosphere. They had the walking dead playing on the screen and Mariah Carey playing on theb speakers loved it definitely a fun Vibe. The bar tender was super nice
This is a cozy and charming cafe that serves delicious Belgian-inspired breakfast and brunch. I ordered the apple cinnamon waffle and the smoked salmon eggs benedict, and both were amazing. The waffle was crispy and fluffy, and the eggs were perfectly poached. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The only downside was that the cafe was quite small and crowded. Expect a short wait, but it was worth it, and I would definitely come back again.
Waffles are light and fluffy, salmon Benedict is great. Customer service is nice. Its usually packed, so go during off hours if you can. Like up can be long. My only complaint is that the servings can be small, and price is a bit high for what you get. Ill definitely visit again Vegetarian options: Spinach egg Benedict options
Brunch staple in the city
This place has character and the french toast was incredible.
Amazing food and great service.
We were visiting Toronto for a few days and decided to eat here for breakfast on our first morning. The food was so good we came back the next day without hesitation. Everything we had was exceptional. The cured salmon was fantastic as was the waffle that came alongside it. On our second visit my wife had the Croque Monsieur and I had French Toast. Both were amazing and my eggs were cooked perfectly each time which should be expected of a breakfast restaurant but lately many have fallen short of this standard.
It s good but it s really overpriced.
Food is just terrible, and very dark place
Every time I come to Toronto I try my best to eat here, for 5 years now. The food is thoughtfully prepared, with belgian cuisine on the menu that you cant find anywhere else. Service is attentive but not disruptive, and its always a mix of savoury and sweet dishes on their brunch menu. Be prepared for a line outside and down the street -totally worth it, but be patient and dont take it out on the hardworking restaurant staff k?
Price above average Portions small Food strictly average, nothing special about it Design below average Service good For brunch to wait 30 ( not worth)
Waited 45 minutes for the best waffle in Toronto and ended up not even ordering one. Luckily the service was excellent and they offered one for our long wait! The breakfast was pretty ridiculously good though!
Had brunch at Le Petit Dejeuner this afternoon with a friend, and it was great. Managed to get in after a 30 minute wait - reason towards the end of the review. This place seems like it always has a waiting, so be prepared to wait. 15 minutes minimum. The vibe inside is really nice, the service is great and the food is amazing. My friend and I grabbed hot chocolates, a French toast with strawberries and bananas, and a breakfast sandwich. The food was worth the wait. One less star because of the rule with seating - if you have a table for two but just one person is lined up (as you re waiting for your +1 to arrive), they can t seat you until the person accompanying you arrives. It was cold today and waiting outside while my friend was on her way was not pleasant. Would be nice if I could have placed an order in advance for the +1, so the food could arrive just in time for them to make it.
There was a line up to get in at 9:15am so you know itll be good. The service was excellent and the food was worth it.
The food was tasty, good portion size, and was delivered in few minutes. The service was great, there is a small waiting line due the size of the place and having a high demand of customers. The inside had a very dim light, is sometimes hard to read the menu, and the tables are squeezed together, other clients bumped into our table several times, and I felt a strom smell of pain while eating. In my honest opinion, the price was fair, but they need to get rid of the smell.
One of the best brunch restaurants in Toronto and best known for their authentic Belgian waffles as well as their egg dishes. The waffles were made fresh when you order and come just crispy. Coupled with the Eggs Benedict and any of the options such as smoked salmon or peameal bacon makes it a very complete dish. The apple slaw was also a very good addition to go along with the Eggs Benedict. Recommended as a brunch spot downtown and is well known. Anticipate a potential lineup especially on weekends.
Love love love their waffles!
This place is always a JOY. Service is beyond friendly. Food is hearty and the waffle... Well, its like biting on a dreamy cloud. If you can, try going on weekdays to avoid line ups. Food
I got the benedict style waffles with bacon and it was pretty good, however, the portions were pretty small. I was still a bit hungry after the meal. The interior is small and very dark, I had to use the light from my phone screen to be able to see the menu. I would say it s not worth the long wait but if you re able to go early enough or during a time where the line isn t super long then definitely check it out!
My first time here for brunch on a Sunday at 10:15 with a friend. We were seated fairly quickly and served shortly thereafter. Great hot coffee and fast service. I ordered the florentine eggs benedict but didn t enjoy them much, they were underseasoned and bland. Not a fan of the home fries either. The worst part of my experience was how dark it was inside! I could barely see my plate and it just did not feel like a good atmosphere to enjoy a nice brunch. Felt small, dark and dingy - more like an atmosphere for a cocktail bar. Overall, great service, food is nothing to write home about, and unappealing ambiance.
The best breakfast place in Toronto 100%!
