Great diner food and friendly staff

Excellent sandwiches and omelettes, good coffee. The service is okay to good but the atmosphere is not very welcoming, like an old-school diner. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a fully accessible ground floor washroom.

Such a cute spot with decent food and good prices.

Place needs a major revamp as expected compared to other locations outside Toronto. Place needs a full revamp. Home fries were tasteless, have tasted better before. Wraps were ok and the burger was the only nice item we had. Server was nice though. Washroom also needs a bit of work.

The food is always good and so is the service. No issues there at all. Super friendly staff. I just wish the place was cleaner. Old splatters of ketchup on the wall at our table, doors to the bathrooms were really dirty . Lots of dust and dirt on surfaces.

This restaurant closes at 3pm. I walk in at 2:10pm and I am rushed out by a man with glasses on behind the counter saying, We re closed. We re closed. He s also moving his hand as he s saying this as if to wave us off outside. Very disappointed in this service. Didn t even get the try the food so I can t even rate it one star. I also understand food service, I know last minute customers can be annoying; but I walked in an hour before, let s relax.

I popped in before work for a very late breakfast and early dinner, tired from my previous week Effy was lovely, made my day preparing me a coffee to go :) If you get great service SHARE. Thank you

I have been to many sunset grills and this one was absolutely terrible. The ambience was just awkward, dark and dirty looking .. the food was less than half the portion compared to other sunset grills.. our server didn t have a pleasant approach.. as though she really didn t want any customers to serve .. overall I would say terrible and won t be going back there again!

Fire this old server of yours who wears spectacles. Slow, rude and bad service. Not coming back here again!

Sunset isn t known for fine dining, its a popular local breakfast place with excellent and attentive staff with a fast and efficient kitchen.

Ordered the Southwest vegan hash and it was terrible- very bland and just gross, the onions, peppers & mushrooms are barely sautéed, more like steamed, and there no chives at all, the description says topped with fresh chives. The guac was the worst, pretty sure it was rancid :( Dont waste your money on this item in particular. Ive had other menu items, and they were ok.

Great breakfast. Bacon is high end . Service quick,efficient and friendly. The only complaint I have is that the home fries were like cut up boiled potatoes. I m hoping that this is because I was the first customer of the day so I am not holding it against them .

Potatoes were cold the bacon was deep-fried and the waitress kept looking at us but never came for the bill. I got up a payed cash and left without a tip. Ive never had to do that ever before and wont go again .Heather

To spend $25 on an omelette, and have it look like it was dropped on the floor, is not fun. Look at the olives, just dropped on top at the end. Tried calling restaurant, they said they re too busy to fix. Ok too busy for a customer, I guess

Great diner food, great GREAT service people.

This place staffs very rude people. They appear to be unhappy, don t enjoy their job and/or want to service customers. Impatient and no kindness at all. There is a bug problem. As you spend a lot of your time swatting away their resident flies while your eating. Blew my straw off the table because I was trying to blow a bug away and they legit complaints about me trying to litter while holding food and utensils in my hand. The staff happily will disrespect you, while defending their fruit flies, tell you their done with you, put their hand in your face, and walk off when you are having to explain why you are having to try to eat, blow away the flies, and keep things on your table. Definitely HIGHLY discourage if you re new and visiting. They treat their locals and regulars warmly but non regulars, forget about it. Rudeness is definitely on the menu. Served hot.

I used to love eating breakfast here since I was a child but it has really went downhill since the pandemic started. The quality of the food isnt the same, and not to mention the competence of the staff is a bit questionable.. multiple times Ive ordered on DoorDash from here and they are constantly forgetting orders of bacon, fresh fruits, juices.. etc.. leaving meals incomplete. Recently, my order was placed on DoorDash and they didnt confirm it in the computer system for 20 means, meaning no driver knew to be on route.. but they had my cold food sitting there. When I asked for fresh food to be made in regards to the ladys error she asked me if I could just warm it up!!!! Warm up my $50 breakfast!? What a disrespectful disgrace. If you can, go to the Queen Street location or order from the Queen Street location.

Paid $30 for this place on Skip, the portion size was something you d get as an army ration, looked horrible and things I paid extra for didn t even show up. Toronto has a lot of good food options, this is not one of them.

This has been one of my favourite breakfast places since 2009 but today will be my last time coming back The food has changed so much little to no love anymore and the blonde waitress is always condescending and rude after rushing us to order I forgot to ask for well done when the food came out it was undercooked and had no colour I asked if I could have it cooked a little longer she then said okay so bacon burnt and eggs over hard got it obviously not what I asked for but I didn t want to go back and forth with her any longer, ruined my morning

You ll never know if they re open or not! Sign on the door says open til 4:30pm on sundays. Shoed out of there at 2:25 saying we close in a half hour. It s slow . Wouldn t even let us sit down because they wanted to close early. Hope the owners see this. So don t trust google OR their signage. What a place.

30 minutes to get a glass of water when it was not busy? You might want to trying cleaning the kitchen. Maybe clean all those dust bunnies are hanging down above where they are cooking. Maybe change those dusty tiles above the kitchen. The state of that kitchen is disgusting.

Barbara helped me out this morning with my takeout order. Her customer service was top tier. She knows what shes doing The food was also good. She was not stingy on the condiments--which I loved. She gave the perfect amount of ketchup and strawberry jam. Thank you Barbara.

Food was good and staff was really friendly. The plain pancakes and the blue berry pancakes were not that great like the others locations. Everything else was amazing!

Nice place, vacant service, but good food

Today I ordered a 4 scrambled eggs and 4 side sausages and they literally gave me 2 scrambled eggs and still charged me for 4. I have been going to this place for years for take out and they treated me like this today for no reason. I go to the Richmond st location which is close to my workplace all the time and when I ask then for 3 eggs, they give me the right amount which is much bigger than what Coxwell gave me today in a tiny box. I am cancelling Sunset Grill altogether because of this theft. I will cook at home going forward of just go to other breakfast places like Dennys.

Ordered 3 eggs, received 2 eggs, toast was burnt, bacon was over cooked crumbling in a deep fryer instead of on the grill! Waitress said that I was the only person to complain today!

One banquet burger with home fries and one cheese burger with fries. Pretty darn good burgers ... require both hands!! The service was great on Sat around 1:30pm.

Service is ok. The bacon was very salty and the sausage was greasy. But the pancakes were wonderful and not little bits.

There should be a star system here for Value for money... for a sit down place, this is a great spot. the home fries are usually great, as long as you dont catch them on a day they havent cooked the potatoes through, but that hasnt happened in a couple of years. If youre looking for a cheap sit down family restaurant and like that hometown vibe of the old beaches, this is it, I recommend it.

The classic diner experience. Went on a Sunday morning and had everything from pancakes, scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage and bacon - everything came out in less than 30 minutes and was cooked to perfection. Definitely a staple in the neighborhood.

Dined around 2pm on a Friday, best and most fresh eggs benedict I had. Great and hospitable staff

Food was good, but service was great! Very friendly staff! Really good coffee too.

I ordered the full breakfast. The toast was cold. Butter didnt even melt. Asked for eggs to be sunny side up. Over cooked and one egg was broken. Bacon burnt. The best part was the friendly service provided by the waitress that served me. I would give her a 8 out of 10. Without her I would have given no stars.

Lady at the counter was obnoxious and rude obviously they don t know how to talk to people and should really learn how to if they want to stay open

Busy neighbourhood outlet near Danforth and Coxwell. You will find all the classic breakfast fare as well as sandwiches and burgers. Very reasonably priced with generous portions in the post-Covid world. Fast and friendly service. Always a good choice when you want a breakfast for lunch! I like their French toast. Breakfast-time specials available for those who are on the go early

Server was friendly but the food was terrible I ve never had smoked salmon I didn t like before this. Eggs Benedict was bland. Bacon super salty. Eggs tiny. Potatoes were old and burnt (saw it was sitting then re-cooked it was after 1pm but this is an all day breakfast place) $57 for 1 adult + 2 kids

I had initially given this place 5 stars but what happened today is something that ruined my whole day. The blonde waitress must have an attitude problem or something more serios than that because theirs no way in Hell you will rush and yell at me at the same time, rolling her eyes with her hands on her waist. She first starts by informing us that the menus were redone and quickly asks us to hurry and rush when we werent ready.secondly, my menu has an important piece of information missing/torn that made the confusion even worse..i have been coming here for 7 years but its unfortunate that today is the last time that I will have a moody and confused waitress ruin my day. I give 5 stars to all the other wonderful staff who came to the rescue.

This location is rather grungy and would benefit from a deep clean and facelift. The staff are super friendly - almost too friendly I ve watched the boss sweetheart and touch his waitstaff quite a bit. It s antiquated and disgusting. The food is okay- the coffee is hit or miss.

My wife uses a walker and they are very accommodating

I went in for takeaway. Hot, crispy home fries, fluffy vegetarian omelet, and rye toast. The stuff of simple dreams. The plus was there was very little wait time and my food was still hot when I got home.

I tried their 3egg bfast which was cheap, but not worth try though. Funny that it s called three eggs but barely 1 egg as you can see in the pic and previously cooked potato . Anyway the service was very fast, you can get the bfast in 2-3 mins. Over all : Service : Food :

Sunset Grill Danforth is your basic no-frills breakfast and brunch spot, with fast service, that gets your food out quickly. Most of the menu items are standard breakfast fare (e.g. pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon). The value is pretty good as the portions are large and relatively wallet friendly.

Always perfect for breakfast lunch and dinner. Great value, friendly stuff.

This was our first breakfast out in Toronto on this trip, our first breakfast (after 2pm!) out in weeks and we really enjoyed it. The owner and staff went out of there way to make sure we made the most of this outing. We re happy to recommend and we ll be back.

Taste of food is as like as homemade food, my family is very happy to have breakfast over there. Price is really reasonable. Lovely atmosphere and attitude of working people are cordial that somehow similar to our own family members.

Cheap ,but not delicious.

This is for the Danforth Ave location. Ordered Eggs Benedict. Hollandaise sauce tasted like it was made from powder, like those Knorr sauces for gravy. Eggs were poached, enough said. The pemeal was a bit more tender than jerky. But the hash potatoes were well prepared and not overly seasoned. Matronly service is relaxed and friendly.

We had the omelette and the french toast breakfast. Great portion, so yummy.

Called to place my order and waited over 5 minutes only to have them hang up the phone on me. Upon calling back I still didnt get to place my order. THEY CALLED ME BACK AND HUNG UP ON ME. This must be the new pandemic service

Nice servings size, good customer service. Bacon and sausages were on point, not extra salty and perfectly cooked. Coffee was a little weak, not strong enough and the cup was a little small, but if they offer refills (which I forgot to ask) then it can be overlooked.

Both Sunset Grill and AW should attract people to these spots for Breakfast Lunch and ... I enjoy both places. I love Sunset Grill for a sitdown. AW root beer & burger and fries for a takeout.

Such a wonderful place, customer service is great and food was delicious. If youre in the area definitely stop by the mega breakfast will keep you full majority of the day. Definitely with the stop.

Was a regular before covid but only went back a couple of times since things got back to normal. Both times food was good, good portions and value is still there. Was there around noon on a Monday so it was and quiet not too rushed or packed like it can get on the weekends.

Food is fine and get reasonable value. But the service is awful. Ive been several times because its convenient. But every time... yikes. The waitresses are reliably rude, inattentive, mostly vacant. Often plates of food are essentially dropped onto the table perhaps to express annoyance? Theres usually odd behaviour too, like when I watched (while waiting to pay) one of them come up and kick another in the leg for jokes. Who does that? (Also: the men s bathroom is awkward at best: the urinal is *immediately* adjacent to the door, so that if anyone enters the door hits you.)

Pretty convenient location, right outside Coxwell Subway Station. Their food is nice and waitresses go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, you can also eat in and order out. Quaint eatery overall.
