I love feeling it is like a home made meal. The food is delicious.

Family group. 8 people great sevice and everyone says their meal was great.

Excellent breakfast experience!

Pancakes where really bad after returning it twice first set still had batter and was wet and mushy second set dry and to thick so its just crumbled apart service was great waffle was good and some of the other things were fine a little cold for some items but I can tolerate Atleast that wouldnt just for food related reasons

Egg sandwich came with no eggs no sauce on it and no coleslaw

You can do better. Used to be better. But someone has lost their passion in the kitchen. It s just meh okay, like someone else said in the reviews, can get better for cheaper at McDonald s

Just garbage. Potatoes were hard, cream served with tea, French toast was basically just bread VERY lightly dipped in egg Also it s filthy in there. Like dingy old diner I can get down with but you should at least have a decent breakfast then

food was pretty good aside from the home fries (home fries are undercooked, unseasoned and serving them should result in a federal prison sentence), service was slow and clunky, and the entire restaurant is grimy. but i guess, it all adds to the authentic restaurant vibe!

Whats happened to this place? There used to be some pride here. Over easy eggs were still runny (?!), a cable box behind a TV fell and hit me on the shoulder up against the wall (no ones fault really), and a very long blonde hair cooked into my bacon, which to their credit, they comped me for (not that they had much of a choice). The clincher and what has me writing this review...the condition of the mens bathroom. Either side of the urinal, the stall wall and the dividing panel, have a solid 5-10 cm of flaking rust along their entire bottoms. Ive seen cleaner back road gas station bathrooms. Absolutely disgusting. Also, an empty paper towel holder with spray-painted graffiti all over it. Something 2 screws, $10 and 5 minutes would fix. Theyve given up and so have I, will never be back.

Great service and decently priced food.

Used to love this place, in fact I used to have a positive review for it, until I went to order one morning and realized that a lot of the things are marked up almost 50% on Uber Eats compared to the online menu on their website. And thats BEFORE all the superfluous fees added by Uber themselves. It used to be such a great family restaurant, now it seems like they just want to run it like a profit mill as the food quality has plummeted in recent years.

Our server was very nice but noticing a common trend with most subset grills is that they are all very dusty and are overdue for a deep clean. This is what makes me hesitant to go to breakfast places there is always a layer of grime on everything

Power breakfast

The sunset grill fell far below expectations, rude waitresses, dirty cooks and disorganization led to a very short stay. Calling 45 minutes in advance cannot save the staff from blundering our business. We waited 20 minutes to receive our reservation before leaving due to poor service and cleanliness. We didn t get to try the food and are unable to comment on it.

I ve been to this location twice and had my breakfast needs met. The food was decent and service was quick. The coffee was okay, but I needed to add cream in order to join it. I dropped 2 stars because the restaurant needs a serious deep clean. The floors are filthy with what looks like years of traffic and grim. The kitchen looked clean which is the most important.

Visiting from NB and this was a great brunch spot. Definitely want to go back and try all their eggs bennedict options!

Very good food and service

The waitress this morning was rude. We were not greeted us in any way where we felt welcome. She dropped off water we didn t ask for, threw the menus down on the table and she walked away without asking if we wanted coffee. She stood off to the side and talked with her coworker while my fiancée sat there waiting for service. All we wanted was a coffee and a good hot breakfast. We just got up and walked out. We don t have to put up with that.

It was a sad experience. Tired establishment in need of a great deal of work. Understaffed Food was acceptable but nothing of note Hollandaise sauce on eggs Benedict was thick like goo.

They are fast and efficient. You dont have to sit and wait for long, so it is a good breakfast/brunch place. The price is also quite fair. You get what you paid for.

Went more for the nostalgia from when I lived in the area but definitely expected better than we received. I know they are busy, the restaurant is narrow on 2 levels, is long and crowded. It s in need of sprucing up and a good cleaning. Our order was 2 sandwiches, 1 with fries, 1 coffee. Every table around us on upper level came in after us and all received their food before us. Our waitress just kept repeating how busy they are and food is coming. Received our sandwiches app. 45 minutes after we sat down, both with fries that were barely warm. Won t be back ever to this location but I really like the one in Niagara Falls that I will continue to frequent.

Always a great classic dinner experience here at this location. The staff is always on point and pleasant when they serve my girlfriend and me. The food is always cooked just right. We have never had to send anything back or worry about poor-quality food.

Went here with a friend for a late lunch and had a great meal. It s an old school diner in a really fun part of Toronto called the Beaches. Reminded me a lot of Venice Beach in Los Angels. I am partial to diners so for me this was a great recommendation. Trust me, they do not skimp on the portions. There are a lot of these places around the greater Toronto area, but rumor has it this is one of the original locations. There are some small sets of stairs leading up into the back dining rooms so I don t know how accessible the place would be. Also there is a steep flight of stairs down to the restroom in the back that I think would be hard to navigate for some older or handicap clients. They service was fabulous and the food came in portions big enough to have leftovers for days. Wheelchair accessibility: There are some stairs leading up into the back dining rooms that would make it hard for a wheelchair to get up there. Also the restroom is in the back down a steep flight of stairs.

Ordered take out today and I had asked for deep fried home fries and instead of doing that I got cold and what seemed to be boiled home fries, they had no spice or seasoning whatsoever. Chocolate Pancakes also had this mint aftertaste and genuinely tasted very bad. Tried to call the restaurant and it seems like they have turned off the phones.

I used to come to Sunset Grill on Queen St E in the Beaches all the time when I lived here - the service and food were great. And that is the problem - that is no longer true I ordered Eggs Benedict with Bacon. The Hero of the dish is Hollandaise sauce, or should I say it should be the Hero mine was curdled - visually as well as taste wise. When I pointed out to the server, she defended it and said they served it like that the morning. So, the sauce was sitting there the entire morning until they served me the breakfast at 9:30 am. The server never apologized for the food. The manager was nowhere to be found. I will NEVER eat at this establishment again. So disappointing to pay $22 for breakfast that is simply terrible.

Great casual spot with delicious foods! Ordered meals from the all-day breakfast and they were all tasty. Servers are kind and its just a fun place to be if you want the authentic diner experience.

Delicious food, and great atmosphere! The menu had lots of choices as well. Our waitress was so friendly and nice!

We there for breakfast, the service was good but weren t over easy like I asked and the egg in the French toast was cooked. I won t be going back.

Been going here for years, always good food and friendly staff, it is a diner so don t expect a fancy brunch, but it s cheap and cheerful every time.

We went on Sunday morning for breakfast, when we arrived there were a lot of people but there was a table available. The place is small and the smell of the food lingers in the atmosphere. The two waitresses tried to serve everyone, but it was difficult. We were able to place our order and the food was very good. The experience was good and we ate well for the whole day.

Ive been to many Sunset Grills and this is by far the worst Ive been to. The cleanliness is not up to par and the service is always terrible. Ive always had to ask for missed orders, cutlery, condiments and more coffee, even when its not been busy at all and from more than server any time I go. It wouldnt take much to improve the service but if theres any consistency that is its consistently subpar so never expect standard service and you wont be disappointed.

Basic breakfast and not as up to date as other Sunset locations. Seemed short staffed and a bit untidy. Hard to find parking in the area but overall ok service, except my toast was burnt and by the time it was replaced my breakfast was finished.

Not as good as it was a decade ago

One of the worst dine out meals Ive had in a long time. The bacon cheeseburger was sloppily made, and almost grossly cheesy, and greasy. If I read the menu right, it was supposed to have mayo, relish, and mustard on it, but only came with mayo, and overall it lacked flavour. The home fries were good however, crispy and comforting. The restaurant itself is also unattractive, dirty, poorly laid out, and noisy. The bathroom is also cramped, rusted, and dirty looking. Service even lacked from the waitress, who wasnt prompt, or chipper at all, and made no follow up to check on my meal, or to bring my bill. The bussers seemed more kind, and friendly. The only good thing from my experience is the price, but its not enough to make me a return customer. Avoid.

Pancakes were kind of garbage, they should seriously change their recipe. Otherwise the food what half decent.

Our server was excellent even though she was new. I was really happy with my breakfast as the cook accomodated my strict diet. Sunset grill has remained top notch throughout the years.

A good old diner, small but comfortable. Sometimes there is only 1 or 2 severs so when it is very busy service can be quite slow.

We went yesterday at noon to have a late breakfast. We didnt like the place because it looked and felt unclean and had too much of a fried smell. The first coffee they served us was lukewarm, and we had to order another one. Then my husband ordered a steak with 3 eggs and French fries, which were more or less and I ordered a spinach and feta cheese omelet, which I found acidic, with a little tomato... At first I didnt give it much importance, but I didnt feel like continuing to eat, it made me a little disgusted (I only ate a little, less than half) and I brought it home. I didnt make it home and I vomited a little when I got there (outside). Then, I was vomiting all afternoon, for 4 hours and with a lot of nausea and disgust. It was difficult for me to get the restaurants phone number, but I was finally able to call them to warn them what had happened to me and to stop serving that food. The man who helped me said that the manager was not there and that he would call me today, but he didnt even apologize. Today, I waited all morning and nothing. At 2 p.m. I called again and spoke to the manager. He apologized somewhat, but didnt acknowledge that it was their problem. He wont refund our money, but offered to do something for us next time we go. I told him that I didnt think we would go again, because we didnt like the place and it seemed dirty and run down. He didnt want to acknowledge that and became defensive, insisting that there was no fault on his part and that if we come back, hell see what he does for us. I told him again that I dont think we will return because the place is unkempt and run down and we didnt like the food or that the dishes were greasy. And there it was all.

I go here all the time. The food is fast and delicious. The servers dont hover but fill your coffee cup regularly.

First time at this location, friendly staff, slow, dirty place, waited a bit for drinks, ordered breakfast over easy eggs, turkey bacon, and potatoes and the eggs . were not over easy and not even cooked properly still had raw parts and turkey bacon had an off taste 1st wasnt even cooked much and the 2nd lot still wasnt any better couldnt eat They dont bother to do coffee refills, unorganized, original waitress didnt even check in on us to see how we were another lady did. The cooked was on the phone in the kitchen area with mask off his face talking on the phone Weve been to many other locations of sunset grill and never had an experience like this defiantly will not be going back here and I definitely will not recommend.this location they dont care about their customers lucky I looked over my bill as they charged for an extra meal which shouldnt have been there

Awful, soggy, undercooked food. Probably the worst breakfast I ve ever had. The club sandwich is nice and wet and soggy too. The Lawrence location is so much better, not sure what the issue is here but will never be eating here again.

My family and I have been going quite often recently because we can t get enough of the delicious breakfast they have! ( French Connection! Yummm :) They have great portions and OMG that french toast is just cooked perfectly! The service is also great and very friendly. Would totally recommend great location.

Breakfast was so good friendly staff

The eggs are always runny, but those bad boys are still delicious, the bacon is always plentiful and they have the best damn staff on the beaches. My folks used to bring me and my brothers here when we were young and the restaurant hasnt changed one bit!

My first visit was back in 1979 and it was fantastic been back there quite a few times over the years when Im in Toronto had the most amazing huge tasty breakfast for under $10 not to mention the service was fantastic

Horrible Meal. Terrible Service. Ordered a breakfast and substituted the home fries for a salad. The meal itself was mediocre at best. Also the salad was no where near fresh, not to mention consisted of whole circle slices of cucumber and tomato placed onto of a bed of browning lettuce with soggy grated carrots on top. When I returned hoping to switch it for a different kind of salad, or at very least a fresh one, I was responded to with hostility, a sour attitude and not even an attempt at resolving my problem. If you like good service and a tasty meal, this is NOT the place to go.

Sitting in sunshine grill, heard some positive reviews of the place and decided to have brunch, for a potential gathering for an employee brunch this weekend. Not after todays experience, customer service is atrocious, you sweat yourself in a restaurant that is barely filled while 2 servers take there time getting with clients.I also had to walk to the kitchen staff and place my own order. Staff is destroying the experience to a place I thought would be an experience to remember. I wont be recomming this place to anyone and am ashamed, being an active member in the beaches. Get your act together Sunset, wheres the people that care about delivering the best service. Just lost a customer for life. Such a shame.

Well the food here is quite nice and delicious so no complaints there however it is a little bit pricey and me and my friend got here at 7:00 to get food which is when it opens but it opened 20 mins at least after it said it would but overall I enjoyed my experience

Typically the service is great, but whats up with the DRY and I mean REALLY DRY pancakes??? Ive been to other Sunset Grills and their pancakes were excellent, but this location has the driest pancakes Ive ever had!

lThe OG mega-brekkie joint. Back when people ate real breakfasts, back before crushed/smashed/ransacked avocado on toast (defo not white, probably organic rye/pumpernickel) Canadians like us Brits had big bloody breakfasts. This is that place. Its not quite a great spoon, its bigger and better than that, but you leave with a similar feeling is sation, slight overeating and contentment. This Sunset Grill, on Queen St East, out near the beaches is the one that birthed the franchise. Come, pay homage to the Mother of Dragons, I mean breakfasts.

I generally go to the Sunset Grill on Danforth at Coxwelll. It is always great. I happened to have a craving for pancakes and went to the Beaches location. They were the worst pancakes I have ever had! They were raw on the inside. More like a cake than a pancake. The waitress was very efficient and immediately disposed of the raw ones. The fresh ones were at least cooked but still nothing like what a pancake should be. Very artificial and tastes like a cake. I wont be having any cravings for pancakes anytime soon!

Good food, clean and ftiendly!

Delicious food, many choices to choose from. Great and courteous staff, always on top of orders and making customers comfortable. If you ever have watched bar rescue and they talk about how a good draft beer is poured into a nice clean glass well you can expect that at the Sunset Grill.

Not the same as the Sunset Grill chain. Eating area is not particularly well maintained and the toilets were pretty grim. Food is Ok, but not what you expect from a diner like this, as most of the dishes shouldnt be too hard to make well.

Consistently good and cheap.

A place is a must visit place. I went to this place very first time. I loved the decor and the location of this restaurant. This particular sunset grill has really good options in the menu. The service was great and I found it was faster than any other sunset grill i have ever been too. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, server took our order right away and the food was on our table with in few minutes. They were pretty quick with refilling coffee and water and all servers were checking up on us every few minutes that was good and professional. The restaurant was clean and the staff was professionally dressed even the cooks had clean chef coats on and the kitchen space was kept clean even when restaurant got really busy. I will recommend this place to everyone who wants to have a nice brunch experience. You will not regret this place at all.

Standard breakfast fair but A full lunch and dinner menu as well. They offer a turkey bacon alternative to those who do not like pork products. The coffee is pretty good.
