247 Wallace Ave, Toronto, ON M6H 1V5, Canada
Brewery, taproom, and bottle shop. Juicy, flavourful, and sometimes funky brews including IPAs, pale ales, and sours.
Excellent variety of beers! We also loved the grilled Italian sandwiches. Chris was an amazing host and made everyone feel welcomed. We’ll be back for sure.
We wanted to try in person. We've had a few different beers from Small Batch. Knives Out and System Overload were our favourites.
Cute little brewery with a small patio. A nice variety of beers, some sours, some IPAs and some barrel aged beers. A unique feature of this brewery is that they publish all of their recipes, so if you want to try home brewing, you can replicate your favourites.
Halo is a really cute brewery tucked away in a great location. They offer an incredible selection of some of the best and most colorful sours you will ever have. Whether you are drinking them fresh from the brewery or at home on your couch they are uniquely delicious and make for a great conversation!
Absolutely loved it here! Great outdoor patio, awesome staff and the beer…wow! Key Lime Shapeshifter was incredible - the flavors came through in such a unique way. I regret not bringing any back to the states with me. Don’t miss this stop.
Probably the best sour beers I've had. The lagers and IPA were top-flight too. The chips + pico were the perfect snack. Add the cozy, bike-friendly neighbourhood to the mix and you've got an ideal little local brewery.
The most hospitable owner and staff. Definitely a place to visit. They have a great selection beers. The IPA's are my favourite! The taproom has space to sit and enjoy a wide range of beers and a patio as well.
Small but very nice selection of good brews. The place is on the small side but it never gets too packed in here. Definitely do a 4-beer flight if you ever drop by. If you're lucky, sometimes they hand out free donuts :) The only downside is that this place is a bit out of the way
Loved this neighborhood brewery with delicious beers. The sours are amazing and the staff is very friendly!
Had the Marys Brigadeiro Chocolate Salted Caramel Imperial Stout, which is full of flavor!
My closest local brewery - awesome selection of great beers (an evolving list too), great deck and indoor vibe, and awesome staff that always give my dog(s) a treat - shoutout to Sam at the bar, who is always very helpful!
It is an impressive place with very friendly and passionate staff and unconventional and delicious beers.
Great vibes, interesting beers
Great beers, great vibe, and great service from the bartender (Chris). Our favourite of the 19 breweries we visited while in town!
Friendly, unpretentious, relaxed place to enjoy good beer
Great quaint little brewery.
Lovely micro brewery
Cool little brewery, with a nice variety of good craft beer
A must try! The beers are excellent and made on site. The service was incredible and Meghan really took the time to talk about the beers and answer any and all questions. I couldnt have hoped for a better experience as a newcomer to the city. I will be coming back soon!
Love the feel of this small local brewery. Staff was friendly. Beers were great. Loved the laid back vibe. Will definitely visit again!
Love the variety of styles and options.
Small place, but atmosphere very good. Choice beer okay.
Lovely
I confess I ve never been to the taproom, but I ve had their beers more than a few times over the years at Baker Street in Kitchener, and they never disappoint. I cannot wait to visit in person.
Great beer, great staff, would highly recommend
The Event Horizon was great, sweet and smooth. Similar to a Guiness but I think its more pleasant.
A must visit! Wide range, friendly staff, cute atmosphere and delicious beer. What else could you ask for!
Great place! Great beer! Great atmosphere! Even better people! Absolutely love Halo! So cool.
Dreamy, vibrant sours
Creative selection of sours.
The beer is really delicious
Excellent beer and atmosphere!
Great spot!
Great location and amazing atmosphere ! Terrific variety of different beers, something for everyone! Wow!
Favourite brewery I visited in Toronto. Tiny space and with good vibes. Staff were incredibly nice and informative. Beer was insane, nothing I wouldn t recommend.
Passionfruit Shapeshifter is great. Focaccia sandwiches from Bevi Birra are 10/10 as well
Good vibes. I love it here
Great beer and ambiance
I really like their IPAs - e.g. Doom and New Wave. Servis is nothing but courtious.
Tried the magic missile and its my fav beer now! First time trying craft beer and loved it!
I Cant believe it has taken me so long to write a review of this place. Ive been part of the furniture since they opened. What a selection of Beers. From Hoppy IPAs, stellar Ales, and hands down one ofnthe Best Stouts out there, and some wild sours!! If you want to let your taste buds go on an adventure, get hiking to this place. Staff are always always out standing and great for some good chat!! The Friendlyness and beers keep them super busy!! As always thanks for a stellar Job!!
Great spot with a variety of beers and knowledgeable and friendly staff.
I had a great experience here! Sydney was an awesome server. She gave awesome recommendations and served a packed house quickly and efficiently. Ill definitely be coming back next time Im in the city
Lovely ambiance, excellent beer.
Friendly service...I highly recommend the guacamole and chips. Beer was very tasty.
Great modern brewery space with a fantastic range of craft beers! The shapeshifter sours were amazing.
A superb micro brewery featuring hop forward and juicy flavoured beer. The patio is always a nice place to land after a day at work. Run by fun people who definitely deserve your business!
Tiny but mighty! Couldnt find a seat on theor patio, but was pleasantly surprised by how many beers they had on tap. The young lad who served us was very friendly and knowledgeable as well. Pictured is one of their IPAs and a tart blackcurrant beer
I love the beer here! Always so many options. The sours are to die for. I also learned that the tables by the wall are perfect to play as standing desks. They have wifi so its a great place to work and have some drinks! Great place
Halo serves consistently excellent craft beer with friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. The recent addition of a patio increases its summer appeal, but it is a great stop any time of year.
Intimate and welcoming atmosphere and accesible, well equipped and unique outdoor patio space.
Pleasant and helpful staff, great selection of beer leaning towards sours and fruit yet IPAs and stouts are here as well. Out door seating is available
Beers were good I tried a couple of hazy IPAs. The patio was very small and could use more fun and good vibes. Hence the one point less. Everything else was great about the place
This brewery was excellent! The setup and look of the indoor seating and serving was really interesting, with a great selection of different drinks to try. They had some unique flavours, including seasonal options to try at different times of the year. The staff was friendly and, despite it being really busy, kept up with everyone that wanted to sit in or take some drinks away.
Excellent variety of beers and the staff were great! We will definitely be back.
Great beer. Lovely little spot. Kind and knowledgeable staff.
I like this brewery, they offer unique varieties of beers. Their key lime is excellent. Unfortunately their internet system was down yesterday so it was cash-only, so I wasn t able to try many others. It s more of a small, intimate vibe, rather than other breweries that are busier/ larger. They don t have a kitchen but they do offer snacks like chips and guac.
Had a wonderful experience at Halo. We frequently visit breweries but have only been to Halo a few times. Sidney was amazing at explaining beers and made the experience very welcoming and fun. We will be returning again, looking forward to our next visit.
Great vibe, friendly staff, did a tasting tray and a great selection of beers. Highly recommended.
Shapeshifter FTW!!!
Excellent beer, great service. Youd think the train tracks right by would be miserable but it in no way affected our enjoyment. Relatively quiet, few and far between. Go here.
To me they have Awesome beer. And the staff is very knowledgeable on Beer.
Price gouging local craft brewery, and the beer itself lacks any flavors resembling craft. Awful service at the front counter, and to spend $7.50 for a can of local beer that lacks carbonation, flavor and anything to justify the price point was a disappointment. First time customer, and will most certainly be my last.
Seriously the best! Cannot say more lovely things about this place.
Different and unique selection of sours and IPAs here. Ace service in the fact that theyre so knowledgable about their offerings and quick. Put this on your pit stop for a brewery crawl.
Cool little place. Cool people. Excellent beer. Its very small batches so the beer is a bit pricy but its a good treat and worth trying.
Great beer, really diverse selection that is done well
Decent beer - but quite expensive compared to other Toronto breweries.
Great coffee and super friendly service
Some interesting beers available here.
Love thee beers. Staff always help in picking the rt beer. Decent prices for such an excellent craft beer.
Cute brewery! Super small seating area so we had to get takeout beers! The beer was not my favourite. The new purple haze was not to my liking but overall a cute spot.
Nice little spot, a lot of choice on tap
Friendly staff nice little quiet patio and great selection of beers
Absolutely love this place. The staff are always super friendly and helpful and also love their seasonal beers! Highly recommend.
great quaint brewery. Need better snacks, but overall, a great break from the big boys nearby.
Always seems to be the same lady working, she is super friendly, welcoming and helpful. She makes the whole experience so much more fun. And the beer and fantastic and its location in a neighbourhood right next to the train tracks add to its character. Its quite small so fingers crossed theres a free table.
Amazing little local brewery with a great selection in an awesome up and coming neighbourhood!! Dog friendly. Great spot!
Friendly servers who arent afraid to give you a run down of local food and fare. Ask for Meghan!
The venue itself is nice, but the beer all tastes the same lacking in any distinct flavors.
Good beer. Great food pop-ups! Dogs allowed!
Great place, awesome beers. I wish they were open longer
Local hidden gem
Creative and humble local brewery with delicious brews. I had the chance to visit this place with my team and they were very welcoming and nice. I tried Elder God which is a brett saison and I did enjoy it! Its pretty small inside but theres a cute little patio in the front so I guess it helps letting more people come try out their beers when the weathers good. I absolutely love the fun and unique decorations they have. You can see they put efforts into it. Would love to go back to try more small batches sometime soon.
Cozy neighborhood brewery with tasty beer.
Ive tried just about every IPA out there, but nothing that tastes as good as the 2 I had ( Doom and Non Newtonian). Not just the taste but the aroma. I need (not want but need) to try the rest now.
This place has some of the best craft beers Ive tried however the prices are completely absurd. $7.50 for a 473mL can of beer to go. I already knew about their high prices when I used to buy 500mL glass bottle beer there but now they changed to cans with a reduced size and maintain their prices. I am done with this place. They are gouging everyone and happy to do it. When you complain about the price they always have a remark. They offer no discount for volume purchase outside of their growler which not only do you have to buy from them but also offers such a minimal amount of saving it is not worth it unless you are committed to overpaying for all your beer.
Amazing brewery with a great selection. If you like sour / stronger beers, this is the place to go.
Some of the best beers I ve had and good rotation. But $7.50 for a tall can and up to $14.00 for a 500ml bottle is absurd.
They are now doing 473 ml cans instead of bottles but charging the same price. Not a fan of this kind of move. They do nice beer, but I will not be returning to buy a can for $7. Will give support to other local places.
Nice selection of beers but what we liked most was the service. If you want to sit on the patio, they have a great system where you text your order. The server was so friendly and that made our stay that much better.
Hidden gem because of the location and The beers. They always have new craft beers.
Great place for craft beer. If youre into sour beer, there lemon shapeshifter is excellent. Also the design on their growlers is lovely.
Friendly staff and excellent beer
Really tasty beer, and love that they share the recipes online! Im an IPA guy and have enjoyed all of them, plus have tried a few of their more adventurous brews, all so good!
Delicous beers, great customer service. Awesome local spot.
Amazingly friendly staff and the best beer in the city
best brewery in the city
I was on Wallace two nights ago on an errand for my wife and stumbled upon this place. I purchased a growler of New Wave IPA and a can of Magic Missile pale ale. I was impressed by both and will definitely return. Both were citrusy and sour. The staff were very friendly and the patio looked inviting (and Im looking forward to visiting when the weather is nice).
On of the best and smallest breweries in the city. If you are looking for great beer and love talking about beer you have found your new home.
Underwhelming experience. Nice beer but not a brewery atmosphere...more of a neighborhood hangout.
A cool little spot to grab a pint or flight. Mostly sour beers or IPAs. Service is friendly and knows their beer. Close to the subway.
Its a very snall brewery, but the beer is fantastic
Small cozy place to grab a beer with a great sours selection
Top notch beers.....these guys are always making new and interesting brews that cater to the drinker that wants something unique and flavourful. Picture attached is the list on 19 Jan 19.
Their pomegranate sour is my favourite thing to drink right now. Can t get enough!
Great selection of sours (the Cherry one is definitely my favourite) and nice, modern-cozy decor. Will definitely come back!
Awesome little place delicious and unique beer selection. Girl at the counter was friendly and helpful at selecting a good beer.
A great local brewery especially if youre into Sour craft brews. I stopped in for a drink with a friend once and now have been ordering their beer online ever since and gifting it to friends. A bit more of a mature/refined taste than most of Torontos craft breweries, I would say HALO is closer to Bellwoods than Steamwhistle. Id really like it if their taproom was bigger but theres something to be said about the quaintness of going there. Ensure you follow them on FACEBOOK as they have pop-up tasting experiences from time to time.
Great microbrewery. The Blood Orange Shapeshifter (a citrusy sour pale ale) is one of the most incredible beers I ve ever had.
Everyone had to get into one line to buy one beer. I needed two lines to get two beers but they just didnt have that. One bathroom.
Disappointed. beers are all over the place.
Colorful little taproom found on my Toronto adventure. Bartender was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable. Beers were good, tried the Shortest Path as Chroma Key. Tasty. Would definitely recommend.
Always the best. Never disappointed in the beer, service or ambiance. Forever a favourite.
Good beer, better service.
Worth the visit to try out an interesting rotating selection of beer. Their fruited beer selection is great. Good pricing and friendly atmosphere. They accept Bunz points for everything.
Ion Cannon and Event Horizon are definitely favourites!
What a little gem this place is. Truly unique craft brewery - why do I a have to live in Mississauga?!
The perfect example of a Toronto neighborhood serving up gose, saisons, and sours.
Definitely worth a visit, specially for those folks who dont like the taste of beer as they have a great selection of fruity tasting beer. Listen to Erin. I had her pick 3 out of the 4 beers I had and they were in my top 3. The bottom one was the one I picked hehe.
5/5 and nothing less. Great atmosphere, the bartender was friendly and welcoming. She was eager to talk about her beer, the city, and give recommendations. Their beer was very good. If you like sour beers its the place to go.
Delicious beer in a charming Toronto neighbourhood. Halo is worth the trip for exceptional craft beer.
I dont like craft beer. I make fun of my friends for liking it. Everything tastes over the top hoppy and unbalanced to me. Every beer Ive had from this place stumps me because theyre delicious and well balanced. They feature flavours subtely and make me describe beer like a jerk. I still hate craft beer... Except Halo.
Very friendly staff, great beer, and a nice location
A lovely local brewery with a very intimate setting and nice rustic decor. The staff are friendly and helpful, the small batch beer is unique and delicious. A great place to either finish a work day at or start your night into the weekend. And after you finish a few you can take some bottles home with you. Check this place out if you are ever in the west end!
Love this place, their beers are always so creative and delicious.
Cool set up, good beers, too small.
Variety 2/5 Location 5/5 Price 2/5 Beer 5/5 Visits: 5 The place is small but not hard to get to, and its easy to reach by public transit which is a big deal because most *good* breweries tend to be deep in industrial parks. It can be pretty hard to get a seat as its fairly cozy - last couple times I visited I had to get beer to go, or was standing on the rail at the side. The beer here is very good. It leans very heavily towards sours and beer with sour elements to it, but they also tend to have a few hazebois. I dont think Ive ever had a bad beer, just maybe a couple outside my style (they can get very, very tart). I have two criticisms. The first is that the beer here is quite expensive. You might spend $30 on four bottles to go, which is, as Im sure everyone would agree, a lot. You are getting quality for the price, unlike some of the hipster breweries in the area, so I suppose if youre looking to get beer for a house party but dont plan on drinking volume this is the place. The second criticism is that the beer really leans into the sour territory and lacks variety. If youre not into sours, sour-ish stouts, or hazy ipas, theres not much for you here. If you love exactly that and nothing else, you really cant go wrong here. Label arts pretty too.
Small space but big beers! Very friendly staff who seemed to be fairly informed. Numerous fruited sours/sour IPAs, fresh pales and other unique styles. Not normally interested in can/bottle artwork but theirs seem to catch my eye.
Good little brewery with limited space for drinking but with very nice beers. Friendly people; modern style brews with lots of citrus hops.
Cozy little brewery. No food beyond some snacks unless theres a popup. Beers are experimental and delicious. Branding is fun and inclusive. Nice to always see so many rad women working there.
Great place & the beer is amazing! I love the variety of sours and different beers, and theres always a new beer to try :) will keep coming here!
I did a microbrewery tour yesterday - went to Halos, Hendersons, Lot 30 and Bellwoods. Halos is a quaint nook in the wall place set in a residential area. I had trouble getting in the door when I first got there - it was packed (seemed to be a microbrewery cycling tour or similar happening?). I think this would be a great place to sip and enjoy a beer or two when its not insanely busy - has a corner coffee shop in Gastown (BC) feel to it. I only had one drink - their standard IPA (dont remember the name) - it was alright but I did prefer Hendersons equivalent down the road. Halos is definitely worth a stop on a microbrewery tour.
Film-tastic.
Small spot. Good beer
Amazing beers that you wont find anywhere else. Super friendly staff that knows beers. Try it and you wont regret. They also do sampler trays!
Great sours. Very refreshing and informative staff.
Absolutely amazing service when my boyfriend and I went. The beer is awesome, something for everyone, and the woman working was not only knowledgeable but extremely personable. I would recommend to anyone, I know I will definitely be back.
Delicious beer. Try the soft pretzels.
Great sours and amazing space
Came here for a drink with my sister and it was a nice small brewery with a interesting selection of beer. The server was very friendly and helpful in addition to her attention to detail such as getting us water without prompting after we were done our beer. I would definitely recommend getting a casual drink with a friend here again.
