Limited seasonal dishes & a rotating selection of experimental beer in a small brewhouse with patio.
Bellwoods Brewery is the epitome of Toronto’s overpriced mediocrity. $26 for a burger that barely reaches reasonable size and $30 for one sausage with a small side of mashed potatoes. The flavour of both - acceptable, but it fails to amaze, excite or even tinkle any appetite. The service was honestly perplexing. The waiter brought out the burger first, before the appetizer quesadilla, and significantly ahead of the other dish. He also zipped away the plate that was not even finished, including the cutlery that was still being used for the quesadilla. He didn’t ask - just literally snatched it away. Very poor service experience. The stout was alright - it lacked the silky, rich quality of an imperial stout. This was my second visit, after an underwhelming first, and makes me unlikely to want to return.
The foreground on which this place shines is the location and the Atmosphere. Apart from that, we were served mediocre food. Our first serve of the Beer was flat which is appalling as the place is a Brewhaus. Service is super late , wait 30 mins to be seated on a Saturday evening , for someone to just hand over the beer can to you ... yes beer in a can.
Visited this brewery recently with a friend and my dog, and while it was a relaxed, welcoming place, there were a few things I wish were different. We sat on the patio, which was dog-friendly, but no one offered water for my dog — something I’d expect in a pet-friendly setting. The cider selection was also pretty limited, with only two options. For a brewery, I found that a bit odd. We arrived between lunch and dinner, so they weren’t serving meals, just a few snacks. However, there was no menu for the snacks, which would have been nice, even if just a small one. The vibe and design inside were great. Everyone there was friendly and accommodating, which made for a pleasant experience overall. The cherry cider was a highlight for me; it was really tasty!
A very nice restaurant at the very good location to relax and enjoy inside or outside. Apparently they have their own brewery as well. Their menu is fun and fresh like their food. Unfortunately, we have a bad experience with the super rude waitress there! However the manager tried to make it out and give us 30% off on our bill. You are living in Canada not to see this type of behaviours.
I had the opportunity to taste various beers, including IPAs and lagers, at Bellwoods Brewery. They also recommended tacos, which were amazing. Everything was perfectly paired, from the flavors of the food and beer to the atmosphere and the service. Our server, David M., took great care of us with a warm smile and excellent service. Highly recommend this place!
A great experience! We loved their beers as well as the non alcoholic ones. A beautiful and comfortable space with both indoors and outdoors. Great dinner menu. Everything was great but we loved the tuna crudo and lamb sausage. Service was also very friendly. They also have a retail side where they sell beer and merch. Nice place too to hang out while having their beer slush!
The atmosphere is good but the service was a disaster, we ordered two foods with with my partner and got the second one with 15 mins delay after the first food. The servers came back several times double checking what we ordered and everything was too slow. Food was not bad, as the burger tastes delicious but the trout salad was bad. The good thing is the atmosphere is great.
Love this place! The space is inviting and chill. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was super amazing, friendly and helpful. Always willing to just chat while pouring beers, even though she was getting totally slammed. We had the cheese plate and an order of fries. Perfect pairings. Try the spicy jelly king! I can't wait to go back next time we're visiting from Calgary.
Had dinner here last night. The duck I had was exquisite, the caramelized Brussel sprouts and maitake mushroom with the butternut squash puree paired perfectly. My other friends enjoyed the burger and fried chicken sandwich immensely. Our servers were great. Especially Nicole, who was funny and very bubbly.
Does not serve food past 10 but serves alcohol
I came on the recommendation of Daniel, a Brazilian who served us at Osteria Giulia, thanks Daniel!, and I was really surprised by the beers. Until then, my reference point here, in Canada, was Dieu Du Ciel, but this experience was a very pleasant surprise. The variety, complexity and quality of the beers are far above average! Really recommend!
Myself and a few friends signed up for the Toronto Brew Pass and were pretty stoked that Bellwoods was our first stop. When we got there the place was pretty busy and we were told there are no tables, so we decided to head to the bar to grab a drink. We were then told that we cant just walk up to the bar and get a drink and that we should wait outside for them to come serve us. It was about -5 to -10 degree outside with a bunch of people crowded around one heat lamp. After 15 minutes no one bothered to come out so we ended up calling an Uber and heading home instead of finishing with the other three bars. If youre going to be this unwelcoming, perhaps dont include yourself in the brew pass. Im not sure if the two guys working last night are just new to the service industry, or both had a bad day, but the only service that was provided was convincing us we shouldnt come back.
We popped in for a beer and an appie or two. Our server Ali couldnt have been nicer and efficient! The fries were awesome, with plenty of mayo. The golden beets - devine! We had the bourbon-aged stout as a followup beer... But it was more like sherry/cherries/chocolate - delightful. And if you go, check out the basement bathrooms - clean, fresh and fun!
Great atmosphere. The food was great as well. Jesse was our server and we were a group of around 15. He was great with recommendations.
Went to pay cash for our bill.. and was told they dont accept Canadian Currency because they are an American franchise... how are they allowed to operate in Canada? They accept Canadian Debit no problem..
The food was good but I cant say the same for the service, the waitresses were so rude. I will never come here again with any of my friends, they dont want people from a foreign nation to come anyway!
Would I come back here? Probably not after paying $26 for a mid burger at best. My wife makes better burger patties with a value pack of ground beef and 5 minutes. But the kicker is that they serve it to you on a plate with 4 pieces of lettuce stacked up, slightly salted, but not dressed. How embarrassing. I wanted fries with burger pretty standard, they charged me $12 for a side of fries!!! Albeit the fries were amazing, but come on $38 for a burger and fries. You re a brewery not a Michelin star restaurant. Definitely not again
The two ciders I had were excellent. Duck hearts were amazing. Friendly staff.
Staff are in a hurry! I was expecting better service and much nicer staff given the rating and price. When I go to a brewery, I want to talk about different drink options, suggestions, and newer additions. It wasn t like that at all. Atmosphere is good and the place is nice tho.
Jelly King Sour Beer Recommendation: Surprisingly ordinary
This place is absolutely amazing, great atmosphere and great beer. What more can a girl ask for? Highly highly recommend!
Updating this as their service has significantly dropped. After close to 10 years going, I dont think Id recommend this place anymore. Last 2 visits havent felt right. The staff just seem to drag their heels with everything. Bellwoods is a Toronto institution by this point. If you like beer you need to go. Their non alcoholic options are great too. They have everything down to a science at this point and know it. I appreciate every visit. Wheelchair accessibility: Both sides are accessible.
What a delightful spot. Waited in line for about 20 mins on a Saturday at 330pm. Beer was tasty, fries were delicious. Service was excellent!
I love it here and Jesse is the best!!!
Lovely spot for casual drinks. Love the outdoor vibe
Great atmosphere, perfect spot to grab drinks and chit chat.
Great place, would recommend for taking someone out but not spending a million dollars. Extremely good burger I was shocked.
Like very very very much
Fantastic service, patient and attentive server.
$10 for a pint epic toronto moment. line was long when there were plentiful seats. it s not bad, but there are definitely better options on the street!
Great staff and service. Amazing vibe.
Great place to have drinks and enjoy with your loved ones. Staff is great. Service was quick Food
Great location to stop for a drink and to people watch. It can be difficult to get a seat though.
A couple of pints after a day on Toronto Island. Menu looks good *beets!* but were just here for the beer.
Cozy bar, nice staff, pretty good craft beers
A little more on the pricier side, but pretty normal for toronto. good vibes in there, bathrooms are spacious and clean. lots of mirrors inside, very aesthetic
The best beer. Somehow also great food. Please dont go, leave spots for me.
Service is so weak!
Some of (if not THE) best beer in the city. Stopping in for a pint on the patio or at the bar on the way home from work (before grabbing some cans to take home) is such a treat, but nothing compared to having multiple pints with friends here. Love their fries, but that beer is so darn good.
Friendly staff and great beer! Cant go wrong. Perfect place to meet up with friends or go on a first date!
Great spot but terrible for and service. Apathetic. Useless. Overpriced.
Great place for a beer and grub!
The atmosphere is fine, but a few of the female staff members were quite rude. We left early due to this.
Their patio is dog friendly and their staff were great at accommodating us with nice seating on a busy night! We had the prickly pear Barn Owl ale (such a beautiful pink colour!) and an Alfonso mango Motley Cru ale (really great if you re a big fan of those sweet yellow mangoes). Both drinks were recommended by our awesome server Jesse. He answered all our questions, served us so quickly, and went above and beyond by treating us to a sample of a thick dessert beer that was mollassesy and complimented the vanilla peaches dessert we had (the peaches were poached I think, a bit hard to break apart with forks but delicious, and the basil vanilla combo of the ice cream was sooo good!!!) On top of all that it s a pretty aesthetically pleasing place to sit down for a date without feeling too snobby or pretentious. For the two bottles of ale and the one dessert our bill did come to $65 so it s maybe not a go-to choice if you re on a tight budget, but for being in the area it is and having a lovely ambiance/great staff, it was money well spent! Looking forward to checking out their north location for a different experience too, they are apparently dog friendly there as well!
Great place pumpin out great brews. The food we tried (corn on the cob, fries) were equally as good matching the service we recieved. Unfortunately not available for growler fills but you can buy their bottles and they also serve other localish brews by the bottle. Get over there early and avoid the lines!
Love, love, love this place! Went there for a beer or two and ended up staying the whole day/evening. The beer is great, the food is good and the staff is awesome. 11/10 experience.
Emma served me and she was absolutely incredible
The beer was great, atmosphere was perfect. Had a great day here.
A must to go if you re in the area!
Overrated and poor service.
Very good sour beers!
This place has been our go to after dinner They have nice patio and vibes Food
Really fine place with delicious food and amazing drinks! The washroom was very clean. I wish the portion size was bit bigger but other than that no complaints.
Great beer, awesome food and a great location. Was living in Toronto for 3 months four work and this was the weekend local. Get the Jellyking sour! Food : 5/5
Fun Afternoon!
The poached peach with ice cream dessert is cracking. Also recommend the Jutsu IPA. Nice staff and quick, attentive service.
Overpriced and poor service with rude host . Feels like cheated . Beers Is fine good sitting space .
Really nice place to grab a drink with your friends along Ossington
Really good burgers
Great beer and great atmosphere with outstanding service.
Jasper was our server. He was the best and totally made our night. The ultra premium lager is delicious.
Patio is nice and the beer is very good quality, highly recommended for a quick drink after work
Cold bevs, reasonably priced food and great atmosphere!
Amazing beer, great service, and awesome atmosphere. Its such a good spot to meet up with friends. I highly recommend trying the maple creme brulee.
Last Sanday we Went there all the way from Markham, for a quick lunch and beers. Friendly staff, good beers, but food is WAY too expensive Other than that we had a good time. Just make sure you eat before you go there
Decent but nothing special, good Overall
I do not know why breweries have t try to make beer sound like wine . . . I do not want beer that Has a hint of blueberries . . .. I had to ask for a Beer that did NOT taste like fruit! and it was excellent. Our server was good and was able to answer any questions about the beer and the food. Service was quick and efficient and staff were friendly. The brewery has enlarged by taking over adjacent buildings to provide additional seating so even though it was a busy Saturday, we did not have to wait to get a seat.
Talk about feeling out of place. This restaurant was so intensely white that for the first time in a while, I felt out of place. Folks just looked at me funny too. Like they were surprised to see a brown guy here. Service was a bit slow and food is alight. Nothing special.
The food was delicious and well presented, the service was absolutely outstanding, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The current beer selection isnt quite to my personal taste, but Ill certainly come back again in a few months when their taps have rotated to some new options.
If it s summer you have to try their Bellwoods Slushie it s life changing
Great selection of beers. Service was attentive. Food is too expensive ($20 for a mediocre turkey sandwich, NO sides)
Love their food, vibe and setting. Amazing food, try the tuna or the zucchini dish... Exquisite!
I recommend the beer to everyone I know. Great food and staff. Food
Classic vibe of ossington. They have 3 beers that are non alcoholic, tried 2 of them which were enjoyable. Will comeback.
I love the ambience and the overall design of the place. The location is great. They are known for their beers. Food options are limited. Healthier options even more limited. You shouldn t go there to eat but to spend a few hours with friends, drinking a couple of beers. Service is decent. The waiter had a little bit of attitude, forgot our order, but gave us a little discount because of this.
I had a terrible experience at here. When I asked for a beer tester before ordering, the Asian bartender rudely insisted I place an order first. It made me wonder if the beer is that bad, are they afraid I won t buy it after tasting? The receptionist was equally rude when I brought up the issue. Poor customer service and questionable beer quality? I won t be back.
Excellent craft beer. Havent had the food.....yet
Cool spot, slowest services in the industry. Servers dont seem very competent.
I tried it for the first time today. I liked the appetizers. They were a little pricey though. Jesse waited our table and he was very friendly.
Great food great beet great vibes.
Easily one of the best spots in the city. Amazing beers on tap and great locally sourced food too. Atmosphere is wonderful and lively.
Beer lovers Valhalla...with a similar steep price if you get in.
food is mid at max but overpriced. Service is unprofessional. Just get a beer but its quality is going downhill nowadays
Greatest brew pub in the city.
Great beer and snacks
Mid
Great service by Nicole...
Impeccable service by Nicole <3
Never felt so unwelcomed and uncomfortable at a dining experience in my life. We (M/F couple) were seated at a picnic table by a hostess to which 5 min after we were questioned by our server if we were even sat there. The female server treated us drastically different than to the ladies that were seated beside us 15 minutes after. Overall, she was rude and cold. She forgot our food order, and when we saw the people beside us receiving the same item we had ordered, we felt extremely uncomfortable and asked for the check. Good beer but god awful service. To Bellwoods Brewery, make sure you re hiring respectful, welcoming, customer driven servers cause your beer is too good to be given a bad reputation by bad employees. Wish i could have had a better experience as my partner and I commuted quite a ways to get there. Hope it s different for others.
Great vibes, good food, and service. Hidden gem in Toronto! Must visit place in Toronto!
NEver fails . Great Staff, food and service. Beers are great too. I like the jolly
I will start by saying I loved the beer. Now... service was awful! We arrived at a time in which they dont serve food besides of Bread with Cheese, olives or French fries. We ordered 2 beers and went for the bread with cheese as we didnt have many options. They told us beforehand that we might need more bread and we could ask for it if we wanted. As they said, we needed more. We had to ask 3 times within a span of 20mins or so and they never brought it to the table. We were hungry so I asked for the bill to go somewhere else. I left 5% tip because of the bread and waiting thing. The waiter was there looking at the machine and I guessed he got mad anout the tip, so as soon as we paid he came back and tossed the plate with bread saying here is your bread. We were a bit in disbelief. When I asked him why he did that and that it was rude he just said have a good night while smirking. I was totally pissed about. I didnt there to pay your salary, dude. That is your employers task, and if you want more tip, dont leave people 20 mins waiting for bread.
Dietary restrictions: They were able to handle a peanut, nut and seed allergy well. Food
Nice beer. Food is okay.
Haven t been to Bellwoods since before Covid, and the new renovations/space are great. The beer selection is second to none and there are lots of great dishes that pair perfectly. If you like craft beer, this is the place to be.
Vegetarian options: Meat-free beer!!! Food
Love the atmosphere here!
My favorite brewery in Toronto. The beer is great, the food is delicious.
Planned ahead and made a reservation. Arrived on time. Was told that the table will have to be vacated in 2 hours - which was OK as we did not plan to stay for longer but ... it was unusual and unexpected. Another surprise: some items announced on the menu were actually missing, including the one I was initially aiming to order. Not a big deal - ordered the lamb sausage instead, and it was reasonably good. But ... Now, let us get back to beer. The Hellweiser, their dark lager, was not bad and most certainly excellent, based on North American standards. The final, and, this time, a good surprise: Bellwoods is pouring beer from its local pals (a guest tab). The best beer I had that evening was the one from Burdock Brewery, they call it a Dreamy IPA. Not too heavy, very fruity and refreshing. My friend was just OK with his selection: he ordered a Bellweiser. To sum it up: we had a very nice evening at a very nice place in Junction area. The service was friendly but not without issues. While the food is good, the value (considering a rather steep price) is somewhat questionable. I will make sure to visit Bellwoods Brewery once again. But first I will pay a visit to their pals, the Burdock Brewery.
Grilled eggplant was amazing. Oh. The beer was good too
Every single dish is superb. The portions are not too big so you can taste different dishes. The service is wonderful: everyone is helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Booked my engagement party here! Susannah and the team were extremely organized and helpful, this is a fantastic place to book events. Will absolutely be using them again for events in the future!!
Dietary restrictions: Great place pick up beer for day travel Parking: Free parking near Food : 5/5 |
Awesome local beer selection but the lineups are whack. Get your beer and go to the park, thats the proper way to enjoy this place. Only amateurs try to drink here.
Great beer selection, as expected. The staff is attentive, friendly and easy to approach. You can also book for groups on their website. Food
Got served by this super cute guy named daniel. Unlucky enough I couldn t get his number, but i m hoping to go back soon to get it. He was so nice and he needs to be promoted because he s just so damn cute!
Great Beer the Roman Candle is our Fave!
Chill vibes with atmosphere and ambience. Rotating beer taps with selection. Friendly and attentive service.
Enjoyed some craft beers on the beer terrace. The jelly king sour beer was my favourite.
Food was very goooood braised beef and mushrooms pot pie was super delicious I didn t like the attitude of the staff Food
TLDR: Triple check your bill. Good beer, bad service. The waiters would take our order and then send someone else to take the order again. Some of the orders got duplicated and we had to contest the bill, some orders never came. The waiter was condescending and acted as if we were stupid or something.
Crowded and noisy but that means its good, popular and everyone there was having a good time. The best microbrewery we found in Toronto. Also excellent food and phenomenal service.
Best Place to have Lunch and Dinner. Went there on Tuesday for Tacos. Best Tacos Ever. Also had some fries with Sparkling Water. Food : 5/5
Good beers! Food is great too.
Nice beers and nice staff!
bad service by Nicole .
Too loud. Beers were good.
Great beer. Fun place
Been a Bellwoods fan from the early days back when the bottle shop was sold out dry. Amazing brewery and beer as always.
Always friendly staff and good beer.
Beautiful Patio! Loved the atmosphere. Staff were nice too.
Best brewery in the city!
The beers are excellent and great non alcoholic selection. Atmosphere is hip but extremely loud music in the background.
Love the vibe of the brewery. They also have really good burger and fries.
Great neighborhood brewpub with tasty beers and bites to eat. We stopped in for happy hour and got some $6 pours of beer and a delicious scotch egg. The rest of the food on the menu sounded and looked amazing. I would return to try more if I wasnt visiting for a just a few days.
Been drinking their beers for a while now so knew it was going to be good. Finally made it to the brewpub and the food and people were just as good. Highly recommend the pot pie. One of the best things Ive ever eaten.
Quick Service n Efficient n great beers
Great place to grab beers with friends! Lots of beer options
Fun place to visit as innovative beer and food.
What a great way to start the patio season! You can try all the delicious offerings of bellwooda brewery, and they also let us bring our own food in the patio section. The only issue is that to sit on the patio it was a $3 dollar surcharge on each drink. It will add up quickly. I understand why its there since its a popular destination.
One of the more solid (and I believe older) breweries in the city, located in a very busy part of town.. Fairly large, wide ranging beer menu. Prices are on the higher side, especially considering some come in only 12oz pints. Every beer we tried was crisp and delicious. Sampled a few of the food items as well - above average quality on some regular favorites. Staff have always been a bit indifferent here when Ive visited. Never outgoing or overly positive, but never rude either. Average at best but when you are busy all the time, do you need to be anything more? Wouldnt be my first go-to for a brewery in Toronto but its certainly well regarded for good reason.
Good service
Has some beers and bites here. It was all great and the beer definitely males the trip worth it! A bit of impatience from my server but Id still come back.
Check it out if you are in Ossington. Solid beer.
Was there for a wake. We had the whole olace rented out for a few hours. Great place! Has multiple places to sit inside, as well as a patio. The drinks were really good. I probably tried one of everything at least. Everything was of great quality. The staff were all amazing. Every single one of them were extremely professional the whole time. They were very friendly as well. I chatted with a few people, just good vibes. After the wake was over, the place was almost just as crowded with regular patrons. Clearly a sign of how great this place is. 100% recommend! You all are awesome!
One of the bests brewery in town, good beer and food. Sometimes is hard to find a table, but it s worth.
A Toronto staple. Only critique is that there were no vegetarian main options on the menu this time.
