Serving up brunch-y comfort food in Toronto's Junction neighbourhood.
Not sure how long this place has been open for but I am thrilled to have finally discovered such an amazing brunch place a few blocks away from home. Stopped by for the first time today and absolutely lovey this place. Food was beyond delicious. Portions were super generous. Prices was super reasonable and service was perfect 👌🏻 couldn’t have asked for anything better. If you’re looking for a super yummy brunch option in the junction, look no further. Just be mindful of wait times - we booked online and waited about 1 hour before our table was ready.
Best brunch in the West end by far. The homefries are amazing and everything is very tasty. The brisket benny is my go to and the apple pancakes are definitely a must have if you like pancakes. I've been on a weekend and during the weekday and the food and service were best during the week when they weren't slammed.
My lifetime search for the ultimate home fries is over. They are by far and away THE BEST anywhere. That good! Will be going back today before I head home.
Staff was very friendly. We got the Basic and eggs Jenny and then our stomach wasn't good after 🥹 Really want to love the food here but after the experience we won't be coming back. Home fries were good, but you could really feel the oil.
This place is the one to try for brunch or lunch if you find yourself in the Junction! Always packed and busy, which says something yeah? The food and service are always mazing! Generous portions and reasonable prices. I’ve never ordered something I didn’t like!
My wife introduced me to this breakfast spot early in our relationship. It has become my favourite breakfast spot in all of Toronto. Whenever we are at our Toronto home, we go here for breakfast 9/10 times.
The best home fries I've ever had. Layers of thin cut potatoes cooked then deep fried. Amazing texture amazing taste. My eggs jenny was delicious as was the salad. Definitely going again.
3 of us stopped here for breakfast after seeing it on several “best of” lists for breakfast spots in Toronto. The portions were generous and the food tasted great. Two of us had the Apple French toast with a side of bacon and the other had “The Basic”. I would highly recommend the Apple French Toast, but the home fries were also very good and a unique take on home fries. The waitress was on top of coffee refills and very attentive. Overall it’s a very solid spot for breakfast or brunch.
Goated brunch spot
Great food, friendly service
Great breakfast and love that they have a waitlist
The best of breakfast in one place. This is my new standard and I couldnt be happier about it. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free available
Dirty food Eatery is my favourite brunch spot in the city!! Host, servers and cooks are always so friendly and deliver the best service. Today, we put our names on the waitlist and our table was there and ready for us as communicated. The lovely server and host Robyn was exceptional! A true hospitality expert A couple who denied their reservation tried to take our table and in good faith, Robyn honoured our reservation so that we could have the best dining experience. Food was delicious as always. Eggs Jonny on the buttermilk biscuit (a modification they happily accepted), is my go-to! Caesar s with pickled beets and espresso martinis were delicious! (Coffee too :)).
We went here for brunch, and ordered the French toast and breakfast (scrambled eggs and peameal bacon). The home fries were excellent however I found a piece of hair on my peameal bacon and quietly notified the server. They re-made my peameal (I hope) but I received no apologies, no compensation for the food violation. The server still charged us full price for the meal! The restaurant was full of fruit flies that we had to constantly swat away during our meal. Would not go back.
The Bobs Burger artistry on the wall as we entered was a green flag! A friend from the neighbourhood brought us to DFE for brunch. Our server (Robin) was attentive and relatable. The food was abundant and delicious (omg shrimp cake benny), the home fries (layered potato goodness), the drinks were proper (blueberry bourbon smash & bourbon peach ice tea), and we left with key lime pie cookies to spread the DFE word to others. Well be back.
Exceptional eatery! Highly recommended.
Consistently good food, and drinks!
We eat here all the time, atleast several time a month, the food and service is always top notch. Will continue to go and would recommend it to anyone.
Used to love this place but has gone downhill. Served was very robotic/bad service. Poached eggs were poached hard; not on purpose. Food was dry and way less tasty than before.
Small restaurant. Went on a Wednesday at lunch time and there was no line. The chicken waffles were to die for. The home fries are a must try. The leave you a water cup at the table to fill your water as you need. The service at this restaurant was amazing. The waitress quickly gave us a new water bottle when we finished ours and the wait for our food was short.
We ordered their signature brunch chicken&waffle for take out. However, the Colour of the fired things are so dark, the chicken and the fires are just like being burned. The oil they used for frying must has been used for more than a thousand times! But that s not the most unacceptable part as healthy issue is not something I concerned most when eating out. The worst thing is that the chicken is so dry and bland, which made me feel like it s totally a waste of my money to just get such a junk food for a Sunday brunch. Never will go to this place again.
I went for lunch with a friend today and, unfortunately, it wasn t a great experience. We were seated by the window, which was nice, and both of us ordered the chicken and waffles. However, what came out was one chicken and waffles and one eggs Jenny. The server insisted that s what my friend ordered, even though I had clearly said I d have the same thing. Things got worse when I received my waffles there was a hair on the plate. Instead of properly addressing the issue, the server just used her hands to grab the hair off the plate, said sorry, and walked away like nothing happened. It was very disappointing, and I expected better service.
Chicken and waffles were absolutely amazing, blew my expectations out of the water and the best crunch on fried chicken I ve had in a while. Salmon jonny was super delicious too. We dined at around 2pm, pretty late so sadly they were out of their home fries. Service was certainly not the most welcoming but understandable since they are so busy. Overall highly recommend and definitely coming back!
Its inappropriate how good the Eggs Jenny is.
Food was not enjoyable and made me feel sick. When brought up to waiter and management they did nothing.
I was a regular at dirty food and truly have enjoyed their food over the years. Yet, my last dine in experience there was the most horrifying thing Ive ever went through within the walls of any restaurant in the GTA. I have a three year old daughter and an 8 year old son & alongside my boyfriend we frequented this restaurant pretty often and always enjoyed their food. On one particular date I noticed our waiter whose attitude and service towards us was very horrible to say the least. Thought it was appropriate to gossip about my 3 year old child in the restaurant to her Co workers and management. It made me so uncomfortable but I decided to confront her about it and at first she denied it, but then she admitted that for sometime now everyone has been talking about how disturbing my daughter is at their restaurant (her noise levels) she is a toddler. Which is fine I completely understand and agree that my daughter can be loud but she is a toddler and at no time in our various visits to the restaurant was it addressed personally to my partner or I. In addition, the manager proceeded to state that my toddler was the cause for their falling numbers in business and customer return and when my partner returned on another occasion for pick up they banned us from their restaurant. I have no desire to ever eat in an establishment that treats people like this no matter how good their food is. Just a personal experience I wanted to share.
Our delicious go-to family-friendly neighbourhood brunch spot. Great food, friendly staff, tasty seasonal menus. Treat yourself to a Dirty Caesar you won t regret it!
Excellent establishment that takes its food seriously and has relationships with regular customers. Delicious chicken and waffles and everything on the menu looked good.
Great food, friendly service. And their home fries are mouthwatering!!!
What is this joke of a place? Tried going once and they were so full they dont take walk ins. Second time I try to make a reservation and they dont take any. Serve whoever is lucky to attend a table. Terrible service and so inconvenient to plan a brunch breakfast.
Food is amaaaaaazing!!! Our favourite brunch spot hands down!
It is not that easy to find good brunch food that is creative, tasty, and balanced but they are it. And I have high standards when it comes to food! So give them a try, you won t be disappointed.
Service and food amazing, they labelled and wrote messages for us to see when the food arrived. Little details matter . Totally recommend.
First time here and we were not disappointed! The food was absolutely amazing and the drinks were fantastic. It was all topped off with our great server, Robyn. Definitely will be back! Food : 5/5 |
Food is always so amazing here! Never an issue with that. I would have given 5 stars but our server had a sour attitude from start to finish. It was not that busy. At the end when we paid, the server was over my shoulder staring which made it uncomfortable.
Busy busy busy. The wait-list for this place was crazy long, but since a friend recommended it, we decided to stick it out. The wait-list app through Yelp was unreliable and Im pretty sure we were only added to it 30 minutes after we joined because they were having problems with the system. Other than the high quality eggs, the food was just okay considering the time we waited and the high cost. Friendly staff, however, we will not be returning.
Amazing brunch food and awesome staff Parking: If you dont mind a short walk its fine. Food : 5/5 |
The eggs were beautiful but the food was not worth the nearly 3 hour wait and 50 dollar bill for 2 people with no coffee. Loud and cramped would not reccomend if you enjoy an intimate brunch. Food
Delicious breakfast, huge portions, service was great. Definitely going back! (fried halloumi as a side option, whaaat??! )
Absolutely love this place. My friends and I come here regularly for brunch and I simply have not had a better Benedict (the Jenny is my fav); chicken and waffles or anything of the other amazing dishes. The service and care is also welcoming and warm and personable. As they are usually busy make sure to plan ahead!
Great for brunch!
The egg yolks was as gold as the sun. The apple jonnycakes was perfectly sweet. The homefries are a must try. Overall, the presentation was great too.
Great little spot in the junction. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was incredible. Highly recommend!
Seriously one of the best brunches I ve had in Toronto. The stacked potatoes are insanely delicious, as were the cornmeal pancakes and everything else making up the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. Not the cheapest but worth every penny; my new go-to spot.
Every time we come its amazing! Definitely get their stellar home fries! Fantastic service, incredible food. Amazing !
Nomnomnom!!
Got the Blueberry Sweet Potato pancakes. They were delicious! Could barely tell they were gluten free. They were great about accommodating my dietary restrictions as well. Wish they had more plant-based options, but really happy they had something on the menu I could eat :) Dietary restrictions: They were good about accommodating my Blueberry allergy.
Food is exceptional and service is attentive and genuine. The gluten free bread is homemade and yummy. I d recommend this spot to anyone looking for a cozy brunch destination with fantastic eats!
This place loves its potatoes and rightly so, theyre delicious. Family friendly atmosphere. Busy but not overcrowded as some places can be. Service was friendly and efficient and the delicious food arrived quickly. Ill definitely go again. Vegetarian options: They had substitutes available to turn some menu items into vegetarian friendly options.
Hey you want brunch in the Junction...this is the place. Excellent choices for everyone. Johnny cakes are a must. Wait list is an interesting way to que patrons...but dont be in a rush...worth the wait nonetheless.
Really nice spot to get a home cooked breakfast. I was impressed by the potatoes. That style of potatoes takes a lot of time and effort. Would definitely return if I am in the area. I would like to try their biscuits and gravy
Ordered brunch pickup and love that can conveniently order online and preset a time for pickup. We samples two Basic brunch spreads and added on Apple Jonnycakes as well. Definitely hit the spot and satisfied our cravings; tried a bit of the Apple Jonnycakes on top of it too and boy was it incredibly filling! Had nice leftovers for brunch the next day. Great presentation, tasty portions, we would return for another brunch experience.
Wow! The Food is sooo good! Chicken waffle definitely my favourite in the city! Home slice fries are heavenly! The vibe is amazing and so warming! Worth waiting!
Delicious breakfast ! Home fries were incredible.
We had to try their Brunch. It was great!
One of THE BEST french toast I have ever had. I wish I had one right now, to be honest.
Loved the food here, those crispy potatoes were to die for! Good service as well. The menu isn t huge, which is how menus should be, otherwise it gets overwhelming. 5 stars
The best !!!!! So lucky to have dirty food in the junction !!!!! Kid-friendliness: Perfect kids menu !! Food : 5/5 |
this place is popular so make sure you put yourself on the waiting list, as they can have a queue of 50 minutes. we ordered 2 Dirty Burgers ($23 each), the salmon jonny ($24), the chicken n waffle ($23) and a london fog ($5) in terms of pricing it was definitely more expensive for brunch but the quality of the food and the portions were stellar so definitely worth the price. the salmon jonny was the most delightful twist on eggs benedict, the hollandaise sauce, with the blue cheese balancing the savouring nature of the smoke salmon. the poached egg was cooked to perfection. the pancakes were so incredibly delicious, it made me want to order their more sweeter offerings so i ll definitely comeback to try those. homefries is the best side you can order, they re absolutely delicious, crispy, buttery and filling.
Really good food and service. Parking: Street parking and green p lots available with a 5 min walk. Kid-friendliness: Its good for kids Wheelchair accessibility: Sidewalk access.
Amazing food, a must try Vegetarian options: Fried pickle substitution on the eggs Jenny is sooo yummy Food : 5/5 |
The food is so good that I tipped the chefs.
The best brunch in the west end. No reservations but you can show up and arrange a table if available, or wait for one. The eggs Benny is legit; the sangria delicious
Best eggs Benny in the city. The home fries keep me up at night in my dreams, the home made hot sauce is FANTASTIC. Best of all is that you can put your self on the digital waitlist so you don t have to stand around outside for a table. 10/10 every time.
Love the no drama, casual, laid back atmosphere we had the Brisket Benny and Salmon Jonny it was to die for surprising the accompanied salad was super tasty too My new favourite brunch place at Bloor and Dundas
My favorite breakfast place in the Junction!! I usually get the basic breakfast or brisket benny, both are so delicious and well executed. You can taste the care. Their homefries are unlike any other. I don t know if I d call it that but my god, they are so crispy and tasty. They also have hot sauce that I assume they make in house that I d recommend giving a shot if you like hot sauce. I m not a fan of red bell pepper but it s quite tasty and has a nice roasted flavor and it s got heat to it as well. For weekends, especially on Sundays, I recommend timing your commute accordingly when you join the waitlist. I waited an hour for 2 people on a Sunday late morning. However, when my partner and I went on a Friday morning (albeit not the most fantastic weather in the winter) there was no wait and we were immediately seated.
Excellent
Incredible brunch! We loved everything we had, from the cinnamon roll, to the shrimp cake Benny. The coffees were fantastic and the service was wonderful.
One of the best brunch in the city with amazing owners. Love their home fries.
This a great place for breakfast in the Junction! We always food the food great and the staff very attentive and accomodating. We love the vibe and the healthy options!
My partner and I got the apple Jonny cakes & smoked salmon eggs Benny to share. The food was delicious, well priced and the staff was so friendly! We highly recommend if you re looking for a delicious brunch spot
The breakfast sandwich is pure heaven in every bite! The home fries...OMG, so delicious!
Hands down the best eggs Benedict and home fries in Toronto and arguably the entire world
Brunch here was fantastic. The Brisket Benny was very good - served with one of the best home fries I ve tried anywhere. Loved the DIY mimosas. Would definitely recommend.
Simply delicious brunch.
I have to give 5 stars because the food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond. They close at 3PM and we arrived at 2:40PM, I had no hope of being able to eat here because they were so close to closing. We went in and asked them if it was possible, he said let me check and they let us stay and eat. I was shocked because most kitchens close 30 minutes prior but they chose to accommodate us. So thank you to the lovely staff for going above and beyond, it was a lovely gesture. He handed us the menu, told us the specials and let us take our time in ordering. I ordered the Johnny Cakes which was literally apple pie pancakes (had the crumble, cooked apples and an apple sauce). The pancakes were delicious, cooked perfectly, warm and tasted like an apple pie. The restaurant is small, intimate and cozy. It felt like you were eating with family.
had lunch there today. biscuits & gravy is actually buttermilk fried chicken, white gravy, on biscuits with some collard greens. classic southern meal. perfect in every way. Kid-friendliness: they even have a kids menu (didnt bring my kids today but will next time since it was my first time)
Possibly the best eggs Benny in the city
This place is always busy but it s because it has the best brunch in the neighbourhood. The caesar with beet juice is fantastic. Amazing eggs Benny and home fries. 10/10!
Probably the best eggs benny I ve had in Toronto!!
I checked into the online waitlist at 10am on a Sunday morning and they told me my table would be ready by 11:15am. We got there right before our time slot and they still weren t ready for us. I got the text about our table at 11:55am and I find that extremely unreliable considering its an electronic system. The food is good albeit sometimes too salty. I recommend the sweeter dishes to avoid that. All dishes are priced between 15-25$ except for the kids menu. Fresh orange juice for 5.25$ seems a bit excessive too. I m not sure it is worth the wait but if you don t have any other choice then it s ok.
Dirty Food Eatery does brunch right. The food is delicious, has little twists that make them standard from other restaurants, and is reasonably priced. That does mean that there is almost always a wait so be prepared!
Love this place! Note: this is for cheat day only. Their homefries are unlike anything anywhere. Imagine a pan full of thinly sliced scalloped potatoes cut into cubes and deep fried. Theyre amazing! There are always little changes to the menu that keep it interesting. Family favourite.
My favourite brunch place, Best home fries ever!!
We wanted to dine here. We drove 30 minutes. Stuck in traffic and late for our reservation. The lady called to see if we still wanted to dine in. She was super nice and said we could take the next spot once we got there. It was all good until we got there. There were two empty tables and a high tabletop facing the street empty. The guy asked if we had reservations. Told him the story he checks with the lady, You can have the next table as the ones are held for reservation. We will let you know when because I looked at the empty spots when he doubled back. Okay, no problem. Now what bothered us and hence why we left despite driving 30 minutes to go here was that we acknowledged what he said and we stood by the door because it was -3 outside windy and cold plus rain. The guy had the audacity to come walk beside us and say, folks, are we clear like what do you want us to do wait outside in the cold or did he assume we didnt speak English because we are visible minorities. Either way, we didnt appreciate the tone at all. It felt racist and unnecessary, and I refuse to spend my money in any organization that allows their staff to speak to people like they are dumb.
Admittedly the waiting list system is a bit of a drag, but if you time it well it can still be very helpful. Food is so tasty - some of my favourite hashbrowns and I live for my Eggs Jenny!
Had a bit of a wait here but its worth! I love the Southern brunch flare and the food was honestly too good. So flavourful and decadent! I had the brisket benny which was perfectly cooked. The brisket was fatty and tender and the home fries were so buttery, crisp and so indulgent. The staff was also very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
Great hole in the wall find. Crazy portions and fair pricing, nothing over 20 dollars. And the spicy fries are really flavourful
You ll never want home fries from any another restaurant again once you ve tried Dirty Food.
Eggcellent!
Overall 3.5/5. Service was fast and attentive. Drinks, appetizers and the custom hot sauce they have was amazing. Brunch was a tad bit disappointing than what I expected. I ordered the shrimp cake Benny and I was a little surprised that it came deep fried with poached egg and sauce but no muffin, with additional fries. So altogether it was extremely heavy. I would have personally preferred pan fried cakes over toast
Was good
Amazing brunch Their Caesars are delish Home fries are to die for. A must try!! Food : 5/5 |
*** Hair in food/ Poor customer service. *** We went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning looking forward to the food. One person ordered an Egg Jenny and when it was brought to them, there was a piece of hair deep in the eggs which they pulled out. They went to go inform the waiter and the waiters response was Well what would you like me to do about that?. Excuse me. If it wasnt obvious, a replacement (and an apology on behalf of the team wouldnt hurt). When he brought out the replacement and placed it on the table, the entire party including the waiter immediately noticed yet ANOTHER HAIR in the meal and the waiter proceeded to say Well... all I can say is it definitely wasnt our fault. Well then whos fault is it ?!?! It was literally just placed on our table. He again said, well what would you like me to do about that?. No apology. No offering on how to correct this. No complimentary meal/ drink/ anything (not that this would be necessary but would help with the poor experience encountered). I dont doubt being a waiter in Toronto is a stressful job, but I felt basic customer service etiquette was a huge shortcoming here and for this reason I will never return.
Dont trust Google when it says its not busy. Its always has a steady stream of people because of the quality . Make sure you leave alot of extra time if you are heading over for lunch on a week day. Food is excellent. We got here at 12:10 to join the wait list. Came back at 12:36 to enquire about the status. No text message, unfortunately . Had we known we were not going to get a message, we should have stayed. Very good that every table had a bottle of sanitizer. From 12:10 pm arrival to wait for a table to take out 12:58 pm
Five stars! The young man serving was the most polite. Could tell he was busy but knew just what to say. Loved the salmon.
Great restaurant, excellent food, friendly wait staff but a relatively small menu which is the reason I gave this place a 4 instead of a 5. I would firent Orly eat here again because what they do, they do really well!
Tiny spot with great food. We joined the online waiting list but we still had go wait 30 min for a table, I guess they gave out table away. Food is quite good and the portions are huge. Worth try it.
Had the beef brisket Monte Cristo and the Salmon Benny. The Benny was really good, but the Monte Cristo was amazing. The home fries were like little crispy clouds of deliciousness. Ill be back! Parking: I found it easy to find street parking for brunch on a Wednesday. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu.
Very very solid spot, delicious food!
5/5 for every metric possible. Although a brunch eatery, I was reminded of a café in the best way possible. The food was delicious (Chicken and Waffles with the side of spicy fries). The creole spice on the fries was perfect for a person with a low spice tolerance to enjoy them, and for those with higher spice tolerances to appreciate a good flavor. Aesthetic of the drinks was brunch-y, just what was needed. Servers were great. Add yourself to the wait-list in advance though!!
The wait for this place is TOTALLY worth it. Super cute and cozy lil spot. All 3 of our meals were finger-lickin good! Service was a tad bit slow but the place was packed in their defense. Would totally go here again and again and again!
So, so, good! We loved everything we ordered for brunch ..but would absolutely just go for those hasbrowns! Absolutely delicious and great service. Thank you! Food
Fabulous and unobtrusive service. Excellent, flavourful food. Happy conversation all round and no loud music to talk over. Thanks!
Lively atmosphere, top notch food, great service.
I have been here a few times and the quality of food and service is consistent. Everything on the menu is really good and won t disappoint. Their chicken & waffle sandwich is a must try and don t miss out on their home fries. I also enjoy their eggs Benedict. Only downside is that they can get pretty long line ups but it is worth the wait.
The food tasted amazing and it was great portion sizes. You can tell they make a lot of things themselves and I would come here once a week if I could! Would definitely recommend the home fries
Very popular and tiny place makes for a loud and chaotic environment. Servers vibe was overwhelmed, at times. Having said that, the food service was quick and the food itself was really, really good! We had the Chicken and Waffles and the Special, which was a Pork Belly Benny.
Stopped randomly for a late lunch with friends and asked if our dogs could sit with us at one of the two small tables outside. Dogs were allowed, our server was very nice, they let us stay as long as we wanted to chat, the food was good (home fries were VERY unique and they use really high quality eggs there). Overall very pleasant meal and experience!
Delish!! I ve been wanting to come here for a while now so some of my girls and I finally came in for brunch the other day and wow! The explosion of flavour was so savoury and so unexpected, I will definitely be back again. I highly recommend their chicken and waffles, the candies jalapeños were such a nice touch as well as the jalapeño infused syrup. My mouth is watering as I write this review right now 10/10
Good food. There are not that many options on the menu though. Apart from the waiting times, the food, service and restaurant are fine. Went with a group of friends and they all loved. Food : 5/5
Really good! The food was excellent. I got the Eggs Jenny with fried green tomatoes and salad. Flavourful and satisfying. The staff were also very nice. Highly recommend :)
Very popular for brunch so if you havent reserved be prepared for as much as an hour long wait, but usually youll be able to be seated in less than 30 minutes. I had the Strawberry Johnny Pancakes (very good, very filling) but got a look at their Benny and it looked hearty as well. Our server was very pleasant - attentive without being overbearing - and all the clientele seemed to be families or dating couples... so if youre looking for a good brunch date place consider this one. Meat and vegetarian options available.
Two breakfast poutines and coffee please. Yep, poutine for breakfast, and damn it was good! I m still thinking about it - it was so good. I may dream about it - it was so good. Excellent service too, in this cute and busy little spot.
@the chicken waffle sandwhich. There is absolutely no reason for a sandwich to be this good! And don t get me started on the fricken home fries . This sandwich makes me want to fight , dance and make love all at the same time. Favourite part are the candied jalapeños!?! And they give you an extra drumstick , gtfo I m calling 911. Super good , I will be back !
Amazing service, amazing and fresh food.
My boyfriend has an anaphylactic egg allergy so we always check the menu of restaurants before hand to make sure there is something he can eat. There was vegan pancakes on the menu so we thought it d be fine. When he tried to order he said he had an egg allergy and the waitress said the pancakes are made on the same grill and therefore cross contaminated. I am not sure how they can call it vegan when it s cooked on top of a grill with meat and egg on it. How would you feel if you were vegan and you knew your food came into contact with animal products?
good!
This is easily, and unexpectedly one of the best breakfasts in the city. The quality and flavour of food was amazing. On par with Lady Marmalade (but with a more casual atmosphere).
Wow did not expect how good this was. Everything was a hit! Salmon Johnny. Chicken and waffles.
Loved the food!
I ve been here so many times, and have only ever had great experiences. The wait list can be long, so especially on weekends you ll need to plan your visit a bit more, but trust me when I say it s worth it. No matter what you get; all the food is incredible
Very tasty brunch, with great menu. staff friendly,
If I could give 6 stars I would. Highly recommend the chicken waffles, what a mix of textures and flavour explosions in your mouth. Let s just say in definitely coming back to try the other items. Note, I did hear the chef say they ran out of an item and it s only 1PM, so be warned!
It was an almost two-hour wait to get in here for mid morning brunch. This may be preference based but I wasnt a fan of my dish, the Eggs Jenny. The bacon slabs tasted too salty and I really disliked the buttermilk biscuit texture, much preferring the standard English muffin. Also, I was really expecting more from the home fries; they tasted lacking in any seasoning or flavour besides the oil they were cooked in. The salad was great. Servers were very friendly and good vibes atmosphere. I think had I gotten the salmon benedict, which my partner did and raved about, Id give this a 5 star rating.
Got the Eggs Jenny and chicken & waffles both came with house fries (your choice). The house fries were really good! I loved the syrup for the chicken it was so different from the norm. The chicken was massive and really good overall. The waffle was nothing special, honestly it just seemed like a filler not much flavor or texture (I usually like it crispy or a nice fluff). Eggs Jenny was a lot sweeter than I thought for a savory dish, most likely from the bread. It was a really good benny overall.
Our favourite breakfast place!
LOVELY!!! First time visit Sept 1. Great Atmosphere; Great Server - Ashley; Great Chef - Hannah. Great Food - Peach Jonnycakes - so DELISH!!! Will be back to try the Eggs Jenny. Hil
Absolutely perfect. Excellent food. Everything is exceptional. Best chicken and waffle imaginable. Food
Wow!! That was a life changing brunch! The fresh ingredients and combination of flavors just work so well. Perfect execution and presentation. My compliments to the chefs and staff for an incredible meal, a wonderful experience, exceptional service, and the best Breakfast/Brunch I have ever had in Toronto!
You know what, I m not a morning person so I go out for brunch perhaps once a year. And boy am I glad I was introduced to this place. I ordered the Salmon eggs Benny, and wow when I took a bite of that there were stars in my eyes. They use high quality eggs, you can tell because of the colour of the yolk- and it was perfectly cooked! The milk pancake wasn t sweet and paired so well with the eggs and smoked salmon. It wasn t soggy either just fluffy. I LOVE smoked salmon and this place was no exception. The combination together is something I will recommend to everyone everywhere. The server was nice too, reminded me of a neighbour who would bake pie and shared it. One thing is I do wish they gave us straws for the ice latte, because towards the end if I tried to drink it, ice would simply fall into my mouth. Atmosphere was good too! Busy, as expected, but in no way did I feel uncomfortable or have my space invaded. It was so nice coming here, thank you for having me :)
Homefries were so good. Portions were massive. So tasty! Definitely coming back.
Fabulous brunch dishes. Bring an appetite as the portions are generous. A gem in The Junction.
Great surprise. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Excellent special eggs Benny. Really good service. Will be back
Amazing breakfast!! Best home fries !!!!!
Brisket Benny and chicken and waffles are immaculate, vibes are immaculate, chef John is an absolute legend, btw the huge complex line on the wall is a condensed image of the Mississippi River. Dirty south . Do yourself a favor and check it out
So damn good. Home fries are 10/10. Chicken and waffles 10/10.
Amazeing mornings!?
I would highly recommend visiting another restaurant. The kitchen has an issue with mice and cockroaches.
This place gets super busy, but they are so organized! And they are busy because the food is AMAZING. It was my first visit and I cant wait to go again.
I love trying the new benedicts they have everytime I go, its the best, my go to place for breakfast/brunch. They have the best home fries, always so perfectly crisp. The fresh juices are really good, and I love the london fog latte. I love that you can get on the waitlist on your way there instead of waiting an hour outside like some places.
This place is the bomb!
Wow, amazing food and service. We came here randomly and I honestly will be coming back soon. Brisket was juicy and home fries were amazing. If you want a great local spot then I would definitely recommend this place. There is a wait list or seat at the window (no wait) (which we did but only after we asked since they didn t offer it)
Worth the wait. And the home fries my god! What are these chunks of heaven?? Dietary restrictions: Decent gluten feee options. Note that the deep fryer isn t gluten free. Food : 5/5 |
A little popular brunch spot located in The Junction known for homestyled comfort food, and a menu that changes regularly. They dont take reservations here, but you can join the waitlist on Yelp, which gives you an estimated wait time for a table, which makes is pretty handy for those who live in the area so they can plan when to leave the house. The atmosphere here is pretty chill, but a bit noisy due to the small space. I had to make an effort to speak louder to have a conversation. The food is served in very good portions, and well priced. I loved the asparagus and potato rosti eggs benedict dish I ordered. All the flavours within my dish blended nicely together, and I really enjoyed the balasamic hollandaise combination. The staff here were all friendly, but because this place can be pretty busy, it can sometimes be hard to get the attention of someone, or may need to wait a bit for service.
So satisfying!
Theres a good reason for this place having a lineup every weekend. The breakfasts are some of the best in the area, and dont skip the on the home fries, theyre my favourite in the city.
I have been coming here for years but this was the second time I was made to feel like an inconvenience. I had joined the waitlist around 11:30 in the morning hoping to get a spot around 1:30. I get that its prime brunch time. My brunch companion arrived before me and was told that there was a walk in availability for 2 but they wouldnt give it to him since I wasnt there yet. I was literally 5 mins behind. We were both made to feel like liars. We ended up taking the seats at the window counter but wow was it apparent we werent welcome. We sat down and were immediately asked what we wanted to order. I had just taken off my coat. I asked for a tea first to get a chance to look at the menu. The tea came very promptly which was nice but again a rush to order. It felt very uncomfortable. The food was ok, large portions, but we both ordered eggs medium and got runny (which I hate). The food was good but both of us had stray items from the fryer mixed in with our food. The legendary home fries which I came for were a weird mix of over fried and underdone. Then more rushing to pay and leave. Yikes. I know lots of restaurants hate brunch service and people tend to linger too long but we certainly were not doing that. I dont know why they felt were were so inconvenient for eating there today but I will hesitate to return now.
Everything was amazing!! The dressing on the green was really good . Their home fries are the best, it crispy and some spice seasoning on the fries is really good as well. The salmon Jonny is amazing , hollandaise wasnt too bitter, my favorite so far, even though I dont really like hollandaise. Everything seemed homemade, and soo fresh. The drinks are good, we had cappuccino and hot chocolate . Worth for every dollar we spent!! I would recommend to join the waitlist before you go.. it usually busy on the weekends.
Fried green tomatoes will make you sing
We tried this place a couple times before reviweing. It was great this morning! Great service and great food! Highly recommended!
Enjoyed a really great breakfast on Saturday morning. Excellent coffee. Eggs Benedict with green tomato and hollandaise was perfectly done. For the side get the home fries crispy and so good! Service was attentive and friendly. Calm atmosphere perfect for the weekend. Went back this weekend and had the Benedict special turkey sausage on a latke with the home fries it was DELICIOUS. The latkes were perfect just like the ones I ve had in Winnipeg. Bravo!
I like!
Best home fries Ive had in my life. Best Benny Ive ever had. The gluten free bread is more like a buttery corn bread and is frickin amazing.
my fiancé had three bites of the burger and found god.
We had the peaches & cream pancakes and the chicken & waffles. Both were delicious. Dont miss out on the homefries!
I ate a dirty burger with the restaurant s home fried potatoes. I did not have a great experience, however. I found the burger to be extremely fatty. Upon first bite, clear fat ran out of the burger and onto my hand. Not like a nice juicy burger. Like fat. The texture of the burger was odd, too. The bacon on the burger was not a strip or two of bacon; it was more like real bacon bits. But they were either stale or too thickly cut or something, for the result was that I had to chew these small, tough chunks with my burger. I also had the the home fries, which are super buttery and fatty themselves, so I found myself actually nauseous when I finished my meal. I managed to eat all the burger, but simply could not finish those greasy potatoes, and I am not one to normally leave anything on my plate. So overall, I was very disappointed, since a $20+ burger should make you feel like you just ate something amazing. Our server was super friendly, so one star is for him.
One of the best brunches Ive ever had. The home fries are heavenly. Perfect eggs. Strong drinks. You cant lose.
Great little spot with awesome food
Fantastic brunch spot in Toronto. It has a cozy vibe to it and we sat at the bar. The highlight has to be the buttermilk biscuit that came with the eggs jenny. The ribs were great too and the white toast had a soft appeal to it that took me back to my childhood. Thank you Dirty Food Eatery team for a great experience. We will see you soon!
Chicken and waffles might be the best I ve ever had. Everything was fresh and delicious.
One of the best breakfast sandwiches Ive had in a while. Do yourself a favour and double down for both the fried green tomatoes AND sausage (if that fits your dietary needs/wants). You wont regret it!
Wow. Just wow. I rarely feel compelled to leave reviews for restaurants, positive or negative, but this place has some of the best breakfast food youll ever have. Even the hash browns are crazy good! Great service and friendly staff too. Just be sure to book your spot in advance.
This place is FIVE STARS! I d give 10 if I could. Some of the best food I ve ever had and the vibe is awesome. I love the low counter with full view of the kitchen - makes me feel like I m getting a home cooked meal at a friends place. Had the Brisket Benny, and while the brisket was great, it was probably my least favourite part of the meal (and that s saying something). The home fries are OUT OF CONTROL - buttery, flaky, delicious. Hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy, almost cheesy even, eggs poached to perfection, and even the side of greens had an incredible acidity and smokiness that I ve never experienced on a salad. To top it all off, the homemade roasted red pepper sauce will be living rent-free in my brain for weeks. Don t miss this place.
Came here for brunch and it was amazing. The food was delicious and our server was very nice. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the salmon eggs benedict and would definitely recommend both. The home fries were some of the best that we have ever had so make sure you order them!
So good! The chicken and waffles were to die for. Very small, if youre going for brunch definitely add yourself to the online waitlist first.
Had brunch here, and was disapointed. Resto was dirty, food didnt live up to expectations. The kids couldnt eat the pancakes, thats how low it was. Will I visit again? Probably not.
Great value for your money. Amazing food. Staff is super nice. Coffee refills.
I ordered the apple cinnamon johnnycakes. I initially tried to order online around 9:30am but the site was giving me a pickup time of 12:00pm. I decided to call and they were able to have my order ready in 20 minutes. Comes with 3 decent size johnnycakes. If you have ever eaten at Dennys or Coras Id compare the size to their pancakes. The pancakes are fluffy and very filling. I initially thought they messed up my order when I did not see any apples on my pancakes. However to my surprise they were baked inside. They are topped with oat crumble which is appears baked as it has a nice crunch to it. Overall flavorful and not super sweet. I will definitely order again and recommend
Have been several times here for breakfast and brunch. Delish food! Really big portions! To the point where I think my partner and I will be sharing next time because we had a hard time finishing our meals. Very well priced! Super nice staff. Could not recommend more!
Random find while I was visiting Toronto, food was so good, the server was awesome and helpful. Definitely coming back next time Im in the area
Visiting from California I decided to try this place out since I was in the mood for Brunch. They had a 2 hr wait time but it was worth the wait! I ordered the salmon Benedict s I recommend it if you like seafood! The pancakes were nice and fluffy and the salmon was fresh! The fries are really good crispy in the outside and the salad was good I enjoyed the vinaigrette. While I was waiting I ventured and did some sight seeing while building more appetite. If I ever return to Toronto I would come here again!
Great place, lovely staff & owners, food is great, love their coffee :)
Always the best food!
Great brunch place with interesting (and strong) special cocktails. Super tasty but indulgent food, prepare your arteries. The restaurant is quite small, so groups larger than 6 will have issues getting a table.
