King’s Café restaurant first opened in 1996. It is located at the heart of the Kensington Chinatown area in Toronto. The restaurant has a modern interior atmosphere and our cuisine varies between Chinese, Japanese, Indian, with vegan and vegetarian meals. All dishes are made fresh from scratch. Tea is also important to King’s Café, with a wide selection available. King’s Cafe retains its original name but all other locations afterwards were named Zen Garden.
I’m picky when it comes to food, and this is hands down one of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants in the GTA! Every dish we ordered was good. I didn’t want to stop eating 🙈 The service was fantastic as well—everyone was sweet, genuine, and nice. It’s hard to find a vegan restaurant with such high-quality food here, and I’m so happy I finally found one that satisfies my Asian food cravings!
Really enjoyed the vegetarian / vegan dining experience here and will definitely come back. Restaurant is quite spacious with lots of tables and well spaced out. There is a section at the back with frozen and non-perishable food selection and variety of tea options for purchase. Food was great. Really enjoyed the dim sum items, especially the siao mai and sticky rice. Found the rice noodle a bit soft but tasted better when you leave it a bit at room temperature. Try the Rooibos tea and if you like it, you can buy a box from the back! 2 things for improvements: (1) Have common condiments available on the table - soy sauce, vinegar, hot sauce. (2) Have a mid to larger size tea pot.
The food was pretty okay. As a vegetarian, the faux meat definitely tasted pretty close, but it's been a while for me. I would recommend it for someone who does not eat meat but wants to get close to the experience. Otherwise, the food isn't really that remarkable.
A good Asian vegan/vegetarian restaurant that serves mainly Chinese food, along with a few other options. Dishes containing dairy and/or eggs are marked, and are easily identifiable for vegan diners. Some of our favourites are the BBQ bun, BBQ spare ribs, Mixed veg “Lo Han Chai”, Rice noodles with soy beef, Enoki mushroom balls, BBQ seitan, Teriyaki burdock, Sao mai, Wellington, and Veggie dumplings with sesame sauce. The BBQ spare ribs is something we always get.
We have been visiting this place for years, and while living in another country I missed this place quite a bit. We had the pleasure of returning to it today and it was as good as ever. It’s totally vegetarian (with a little shop within if you like any of their faux meats and want to take some home). Today we got the chicken, broccoli and mango in sweet and sour sauce and some curried vermicelli, with shredded soy chicken. Both were excellent. There’s also a small selection of vegetarian sushi and some dim sum small plates should that be more to your liking. I recommend the curry puffs.
We really had a fantastic meal. Large menu. Asian Thai Chinese. Vegetarian but everything can be made vegan. Had the vegan Peking duck for the first time. Outstanding! Very nice polite lady server. Nice atmosphere. Clean. Delicious. Hit the store where a nice lady sold us all kinds of stuffs like vegan snacks and teas and sweets. Definitely a cool place to visit. Near Kingston market. Highly recommended
This place was highly recommended by avid plant food lovers. Overall this is a very affordable vegan dining option with high value eats. Seating wise, there's a lot of space and usually it's safe to walk in. The menu is extensive with a great variety of options sure to satisfy nearly all diners. We tried so many different dishes - from sushi, fried rice to fried meat substitutes - and everything was good! The larger tables also have a lazy Susan which makes sharing these large portions fun - and the best way to dine here is in a big group. They also have tea specials. The location is also great, being nestled in Kensington Market. I think we had a new server, she was friendly but kept consistently messing up with serving basics throughout the dining experience (#utensils, tea cups and bowls etc. needed for our group) - the restaurant was very quiet that cold day so we were one of the few groups dining. We also ordered some extra dishes but the order never went through to the kitchen properly so we had to leave without it due to time constraints.
This is my favourite Buddhist restaurant in Toronto!! Absolutely amazing. The food is delicious (Tom Yang Soup is my fave) the staff are super nice. It’s all vegetarian/vegan without onions or garlic. They’re super accommodating, it’s accessible and lovely. There’s even a shop inside where you can buy all sorts of delicious Buddhist food to cook at home! I went here all the time in when I stayed on campus, it’s my go-to restaurant.

SO YUMMY!!! Highly recommend!
Never a bad meal no matter what I ve tried! Even when I m eating meat it still is my favourite Chinese food in the city, their meat dupes taste like the real thing.
i still cant believe that chicken was vegan
Vegetarian options: Loads of options for vegetarians and vegans, and they are ALL delicious! Food
Great food, amazing variety for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike, friendly staff. Vegetarian options: All of them.
This is one of my favourite places. I ve been going here for 10 years! Exceptional food and the people are lovely! Very kind and considerate. Highly recommend going if you re vegetarian or vegan. They re BBQ Setan is to die for!
The food was delicious restaurant was immaculate. The service was outstanding and we went to their store inside the restaurant and shopped and bought some delicious items. The mature lady that served us was so knowledgable so kind and so generous we could ve stayed for hours. I have been a vegan for decades and would return time and time again.
Best vegan food I had in a long time
Delicious vegan dumplings sum! I recommend fried veggie croquette and sao mai. The stuffed lotus leaf sticky rice is also always a must friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Clean! Vegetarian options: Items marked on menu with dairy and eggs
An absolutely incredible restaurant. The menu is Asian but completely vegetarian. A must in Toronto for every vegetarian. The service is very friendly and the food is delicious. The drinks menu also offers pressed juices that go perfectly with the food.
Love the restaurant. Very disappointed by the packaged products. Not as good as they used to be.
Very good vegetarian Chinese food Vegetarian options: All vegetarian Food : 5/5 |
Vegetarian options: Best truffle fried ice ive ever had, 100% recommended Food
First time in this cafe! Ordered the combo meal for one person Got C72 sweet and sour lappa The soy nuggets, spring roll, wonton soup and the lappa tastes amazing! Theyre fried, but not oily. Taste is just right Salad provided was fresh Server was likewise very patient and accomodating Will come back for some more delicious food!
Great, reasonably priced food and super nice service. Quiet chill atmosphere.
This is my absolute favourite restaurant and go to place whenever Im in the city. The food is consistently delicious. Fair prices too. And very attentive service. The restaurant is so clean it sparkles!
We dropped in for a midday meal and were blown away by the value of the food and beverages! We shared the spring rolls and our lucky five year old gobbled up the soy nuggets! We also had the best juices, I personally could have ordered two more of the carrot/apple/ginger juice Kid-friendliness: The server was so kind to our five year old, asking questions and taking genuine interest.
One of my favourite vegan restaurants in downtown Toronto! Service is a bit slow but it s a family run restaurant so it s understandable. In any event, the food always makes up for it.
Amazing and awesome Vegetarian Restaurant Very much enjoyed the flavours packed into the dishes. Going back! Food
Great vegetarian spot. I ate here 3 times while visiting Toronto. Nice tea list. Gluten free options. The vegetable soup broth is super tasty. The hot and sour soup was nice and thick and tart. My dad enjoyed his wonton soup and the gf noodles with beef was excellent as well. The lemon grass fried rice is something I must recreate when I get home. Highly recommend for my vegan & Gluten-free friends
The food is always great! Love the large menu and fresh food. The only reason for 4 is because the prices have increased dramatically! It used to be affordable, but now its not for a full meal. Dietary restrictions: VEGAN! :)
Great food. Great surrounding. Great customer service! Highly recommended!
Drive all the way here from Oshawa just be told we can t eat because there s a wedding party. Eight years we re coming here every weekend. A few months ago they botched an order and wouldn t replace it. Looks like I may have to find a new place to eat. every meal is more than $60. Often $80 plus tip.
Food
My fav
Service is great but food quality is not so great. Ordered their dim sum and first off their steamed dumpling had a burnt taste. Assorted gluten was average. From fried spring roll is not so good. Maybe it was the type of food we ordered wasnt good. Would consider other (non-dim sum) fried noodle/ dishes later
Excellent vegetarian and vegan options. Friendly and mindful staff. Very knowledgeable and even have a little store inside to sell food and tea!
It s a great restaurant. The food is delicious with delicate aromas. I tried the veg Curry with mushrooms and I loved how the vegetables were still crispy and fresh. The service is really attentive, friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxed. I will come back :)
Weve been visiting this restaurant for many years and the great food quality never wavers. Its consistently delicious, beautiful, satisfying food. Pre-pandemic we did have a couple of instances of poor service but in recent years, always lovely and attentive service. This is literally our favourite restaurant. Dont miss the enoki mushroom balls and the Kung Po soy chicken combination meals!
This place is one of the best restaurants in the city without a doubt. I m devastated I didn t know it existed earlier. Every menu item we ordered was exceptional. The staff literally could not have been nicer. I will be going here an unbelievable number of times and I suggest you do the same immediately.
We love it here! Best food ! Food
Vegan food is excellent. However, they need improvement with the service, sometimes is very slow. They also need somebody that speaks and understands English for orders and reservations over the phone.
We ordered a number of dishes to try, and my favorite was the truffle fried rice with pine nuts. We came away very full for $25 per person after tax and tip. Highly recommend it, whether or not youre vegetarian!
Server was so nice but the food was terrible. Ordered dumplings and it came with no sauce. The sweet and sour soup was slimy and the ribs were under seasoned cubes which didn t look like the picture at all. The mango chicken had a slimy salty sauce on it which tasted foul. We had a few bites and packed it up to take home to throw in the trash. Had high hopes for this place since me and my partner are vegan and wanted to support them. Would not recommend.
Great vegetation/vegan place with many delicious options.
Sometimes when I get take out they think that Im a third party delivery person and then try to argue with me over why I dont have an insulated bag. But thats the worst thing that happens here.... because ultimately the food is so extremely delicious that its fine. I really love the barbecue seitan and I could literally live off of that stuff and the lo mein curry noodles with all the delicious veggies
This place is sooo good! Order anything from the menu but my favorite is the bean curd with Bok choy.
Kensington vegetarians local favourite
a kensington gem. great menu selection with a coexisting store at the back to purchase dried and frozen goods as well
Great place. Friendly kind staff. Delicious food. I ve never had vegetarian Chinese food but it was really good.
I recently visited the Kings Cafe in Downtown Toronto for some vegan food and takeout. I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and helpful the staff was! I ordered the truffle fried rice with pine nuts, carrots, and black fungus ($16.99), which had a hint of truffle flavor not as strong as I would have liked, but still good nonetheless. My favorite part about this store is that it is filled with Taiwanese imported goods with a good variety of sauces, frozen meals, and snacks they even have a huge selection of tea! The staff will walk you through products and provide instructions on how to best use certain products such as sea moss. Overall, I highly recommend Kings Cafe for a beet of plant-based delight! Lettuces celebrate their 26th anniversary! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian restaurant.
Soooo good and great service
Great location & great food.Dishes prepared quickly and prices are quite reasonable.
To our surprise, the restaurant was open on the first day of the year. The inside of the restaurant was really clean, which is rare to find in downtown Toronto. We are delighted to have amazing Taiwanese vegetarian foods with the warming atmosphere! Kudos to King s cafe for this irreplaceable experience to begin the year!
Very nice vegetarians restaurant! My family and I loved their truffle fried rice, Teriyaki burdock strips and dragon whisker rolls (in pics). Each dish absolutely astonished us with their rich flavour and the creativity that s put into making normal dish vegetarian! Would definitely come again!
Absolutely delicious vegetarian food. If you told me there was no meat being served I would not believe you! The staff was also really welcoming and recommended some dishes to us since it was our first time. Will definitely come back here again.
I ve been going to this hidden vegan gem for over a decade and it s where I insist on taking all my vegan and non vegan friends when I m in the Kensington Market vicinity. I highly recommend the king pó soy fritters, barbecue seitan, and fried soy noodles and the lemonade is fantastic too! Pricing is very reasonable for the deliciousness of the food and the portions you get.
Really tasty dishes. The fake duck, seitan platter and fake chicken nuggets were especially good. One of my favourite vegan/vegetarian places to go to.
Probably my favourite restaurant of all time :)
We just love this restaurant. Delicious food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff and great service. Their reddish cakes and hot sand spicy soup are the absolute best. New items on menu as well. The seitan ribs were out of this world!! Love the in house store where I stock up on healthy teas.
The fact that this place has been around for as long as if has speaks volumes. Good value and great option for vegetarian and diet restricted individuals
Love this place!! You must try their barbecue steamed buns!!
Wonton soup was a little bland but everything else we tried was great. Highlights are the drumsticks and the tofu rolls. Vegetarian options: Fully vegan restaurant
Loved the taste of the food. The best spring rolls I ve ever had!!! Curried vermicelli was great!!!!
This is a really great vegetarian (almost completely vegan) Chinese restaurant. The food was really good to amazing. Whatever else you order, get the green beans. The flavors are subtle but complex and texture/bite is perfect. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back again!
Extensive vegetarian menu and every plate weve tasted is delicious. These people care about what they do, and the food is cooked with love. Parking: Parking lot conveniently located behind the restaurant.
Staff are friendly, service was good and asked if want to have $2 promotion herbal tea (burdock), which tastes good but not sure extra for refrill i havent asked. Enoki Mushroom (my favorite dish even in Zens garden) but this is my first time to come Kings Café location and i had the combo which has lots of variety (enoki mushroom, salad, sping rolls, chicken nuggets, and purple rice) and dim sum also is good as well. There are round large tables good for family, friends, and occasion gatherings. I will definitely try Vegan Wellington next visit :)
Best fake meat Ive ever had. Order the spare ribs!
The red bean cake/bun is so good. Super flaky and golden. I could eat 5 of them
reminds me of home... good Cantonese vegan dishes
I go here quite often and I must say that it is always a pleasure! The food is delicious, the service is spectacular and the overall atmosphere is so calming. Its definitely my top place to go to when I can!
Good vegan food
Awesome food and awesome service. I highly recommend
Delicious food and very attentive service. The variety of dishes is astounding. The restaurant is very simply appointed and sparsely decorated, but the lack of ambiance fades as soon as you take the first bite.
Highly recommend! Ive been going here for over 10 years now, even before they renovated many, many years ago. The quality of food has always been amazing and the portions are generous. There is a great variety of amazing vegetarian dishes and theyre all very flavourful. Unlike many other new and trendy vegetarian restaurants in Toronto, I dont feel price gouged. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere was peaceful. The restaurant was also very clean.
Their dishes are very creative and delicious. Can t believe they are all vegetarian-friendly! The staffs are also nice and welcoming. Recommended
The vegetarian restaurant has friendly service and delicious dishes. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: It is recommended that the sushi-type meals like the barbecued pork are more delicious, and the fried rice is not greasy and has just the right taste.
This restaurant was SO GOOD!! Easily top 3 of my favourites in Toronto now. The service was excellent, the steamed buns and spare ribs were to die for. I wish I lived closer, I already cant wait to come back!! So so delicious and affordable
Healthy, vegetarian Asian restaurant with a small market. Vegetarian sushi, seaweed crusted bean curd are my favorite meals here.
Awesome vegetarian food! Great flavors, free oolong tea (with conditions) awesome milk tea! For those around the old town or Kensington Matker, must try! Arisa, who served us, was accommodating and just great!
Cannot say enough about this place. If youre vegetarian or vegan its an absolute must visit. Wish we lived closer!
Parking: There is a parking lot in the back Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp. Food : 5/5 |
A good variety of tasty vegetarian / vegan dim sum plus & oolong tea. Really great fruit salad and dressing.
King s is run by the same people who do Zen Gardens, and I must say the food is quite good, especially for the price point. Their bentos are especially lovely, whether ordering in person or through takeout (I ve done both many times). One of the biggest selling points for King s though, is the location. The space is quite nice, with a large window wall that opens on warm days to overlook the happenings of Kensington. A great spot to sit with friends and people watch, especially on a busy day.
The food was decent, not amazing. The waiting staff was trying to be helpful but even asking for recommendations did not help with narrowing down what we should order. Staff said the fried rice dishes could serve 3 people but when we got one, it was just enough for one person maybe. Silky tofu was good, food came out quickly but the menus were the issue, the prices were not updated, inaccurate. The music also did not match the vibe of the restaurant. Vegetarian options: All options are vegetarian and theres indicators for vegan dishes too. Wheelchair accessibility: There was a ramp at the front of the store.
An amazing vegetarian cafe in Kensington Market. Their dumplings, miso soup , mushroom dishes are delicious. Highly recommended!!
The food was incredible, and the servers incredibly friendly. Highly recommend the pumpkin vermicelli!
The wagyu beef was amazing, service was ok
My favorite restaurant hands down! Love their food and service. AND they have a little grocery store inside where they sell their own products which are absolutely delicious! Please try the vegan bacon, you WILL NOT regret it!
Very yummy food and great service! Went here with my girlfriend for valentines day.
This is a great place to bring vegans and non vegans to eat. The BBQ seitan is unreal. Also this place has the best veggie steamed pork buns.
Good vegetarian Chinese food in Kingston Market. Try the bento combos.
I was really excited to go to Kings Cafe after a long time away. Sadly this place prioritizes their delivery services and ignores their customers. My date and I waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our food, while watching delivery orders get cold, then go out the door. Then proceeded to watch plate after plate being delivered to a large party that arrived 30 minutes after we did. It was acknowledged that our order was late, but nothing was offered except for tea. We couldnt tolerate waiting any longer and left before the food arrived. This was a severely disappointing experience. I wont be going back.
A lot of great vegan options here! They also sell groceries. I strongly recommend the facon and the vegan beef wellington. Its better than real beef wellington in my experience.
I always recommend King s Cafe to my friends if they go downtown. The waiters are always nice, patient and helpful. The food is so yummy The atmosphere is relaxed. I just had a chance to visit yesterday. The sour and spicy soup is my favourite . I also ordered some other dishes and they were all delicious.
Lots of options. Tasty, delicious food, great service. Recommend it.
The waiters were extremely patient and polite. There are mostly vegan options on the menu. I got the rooibos tea, teriyaki soy and fried green beans. Everything was delicious.
Great chinese-style vegan food! Reminds me of the food I had at Buddhist temples back in China. The Kung pao chicken, spring rolls and the wonton soup cant go wrong!
I would not recommend eating here. The quality of the food is poor quality and Im certain they use frozen corn and carrots in their dish. Terrible service. The server laughed in my face when I told him the tofu dish didnt taste good and was very aggressive. He refused to replace the dish with something better. The waiter was very abrasive and in your face, he didnt care that I wasnt happy with the dish. He did not care that the food didnt taste good and he waved his hands in anger and spoke very demeaning. Ive been to many restaurants and this was by far the worst, overall a very bad experience. My stomach felt sick as well after eating the food. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.
I was really excited to see so many vegan options!
The food quality is pretty good, but serving portion and prices for the same makes no sense. They have doubled the price in the last 3 years (which is fine cause of inflation) and made the quanitity / portion size of the dish half (almost like children size servings), so effectively increasing prices 4 times.
Been going to this restaurant since I was a kid! Such nostalgic Taiwanese flavours at a reasonable price, would recommend to anyone craving light, healthy but flavourful fare. Kings has an on-site store offering proprietary vegan products including snacks and frozen veggie meats. The staff are so friendly and accommodating as well. Love their curry fried rice, a classic we order every time. We tried their enoki mushroom balls (the Chinese mahogany sauce was so good!) and their new wellington, which was such a unique dish that weve never had at a vegan restaurant before.
Shame to say I didnt have a great time here. The whole place, especially the cuisine, is stuck in the 90s. Its great to have a fully vegetarian / vegan spot, but the crazy large menu means theyre really extending themselves and quality drops. The food was okay.. Vegetables cut way too big, undercooked and quite tough. Tofu was bland; the General To Chicken dish has baby corn from a can in it. Crinkle cut carrots(!?) Rice was $3.00 for a tiny bowl. Stuffy and devoid of air conditioning. Needs a major overhaul. Not worth it.
Always love this place, surprisingly good vegan Chinese food! The BBQ pork substitute was absolutely delicious.
Always excellent food in appropriate portions. Are go-to for when we have out-of-town guests. Always good service.
Absolutely amazing! So Tasty!!
Nice food and has a little grocery section that sells amazing vegan jerky.
Enjoyed a few dishes, will go back to try more.
We had a great meal here, we ordered a bunch of items, my fav was a small salad with this great orange dressing. We also enjoyed the spring rolls. Service was great and the people watching was fun as well.
Absolutely tasteless. Lacked flavour and salt. Really dissappointing. I just do not understand how any cook can get it so wrong. (Stir fried noodles with soya sauce & Rice noodles with soya beef) Sweet and sour lappa - just ok Siu mai - tasteless, no flavour Chicken drumsticks- not bad but the plum sauce was horrible. We threw away 90% of the food. They need to find a better chef that knows the basics.
This restaurant is a gem of the city, serving Asian vegetarian cuisine that everyone can enjoy. I have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience. The food has wonderful texture and a rich umami flavour. I recommend sharing a main dish and / or a noodle / rice dish with a group and rounding out your meal with some of their smaller plates each so you get to try many things (my personal favourites are their dumplings, avocado temaki, spring / summer rolls and small soups). Their drinks are also delightful with amazing fresh juices and gently floral herbal teas. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean, and normally not busy so it makes for a relaxing environment. Service can be a bit slow (there may be only one server) but is always professional and friendly. There is also a small store which sells many of their teas and some unique vegetarian products. One of my favourite spots in the city.
AMAZING food!! great customer service.
The food was amazing and very good quality, and the staff was so kind! If your in the are you need to check this place out!
The restaurant is clean, bright, and has friendly service! The food is incredibly tasty, with lots of variety. The lo han chai noodles, steamed veggie dumplings, crispy soy nuggets, and vegetarian shrimp are all family favourites. We go out of way to eat here, highly recommend!
Delicious vegan dishes cooked to perfection. The quality of each dish was top-notch. The service was excellent and the place is an oasis of tranquility and is extremely well-run and clean.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options
Always great experience with Kings, whether dinning in or taking out. Lots of great options on the menu, so whether you want something familiar or to try something new, they have something for you! The servers are very friendly, helpful, and always excited to explain a dish or answer whatever questions you might have.
I genuinely love this place. Amazing food, super kind staff, and always sparkling clean.
Love it! Great menu of options and all vegan too! Fast service.
I love this place. Food is amazing and the best part is they have frozen veggie foods you can buy. Its a bit like a mini market inside the restaurant.
Quiet, vegetarian and never busy! Right in the heart of the busy Kensington area, this vegetarian and vegan Chinese food place serves meat-free dimsum and traditional Chinese entrees. They also have a retail section where you can buy frozen dimsum, high end Chinese teas, and assorted snacks and candies. The service is polite, quiet, and non-intrusive. Its a great place for a quiet lunch/dinner, insulated from the bustling neighbourhood.
DELICIOUS! Here s the updated menu as of November 2022.
We always get delicious veggie food here. This visit we got sushi, dumplings, hot & sour soup and noodles. The food arrived quickly and hot! Ill always keep coming back here.
Food is not fresh, mostly warmed up from frozen and very expensive in my opinion. Hence the emptiness of the place compares to neighbouring busy restaurants. They raised their prices on imported vegan goods 30% within 5 months to keep up the cost and it was ridiculous for customer. Service was ok, nothing too special.
Great Vegetarian/vegan option in the market. Love supporting these people. Cute spot with kind service and great tea options.
Delicious!!!!
Best vegan food in Kensington
Great service. Good food! There are so many choices that I had to come back the next day to try some more.
Lovely staff..great tasting food, wish the portions were more.. ..like Greens Vegetarian...
Very nice all vegetables food
This place has a giant menu. For people who like vegan meat it offers dozens of options, for people who would rather stick to veggies, they make delicious oyster mushrooms, and spicy eggplant. Cant wait to get to go back here!
Delicious food, well priced, clean and capsular atmosphere. They also have a little grocery store in the restaurant. Amazing vegan food, I always try something new and I am never disappointed! Highly recommend.
Delicious vegetarian meal!
Really good food. The selection is amazing and the service is really fast. I especially enjoy the little market in the back corner.
The faux meat is top notch.
King s is an amazing place for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike! Their faux-meat dishes are exceptional and taste like the real thing. Additionally, the staff are all extremely nice and welcoming whenever my girlfriend and I come in. They also have a great store built in to the restaurant where you can buy plenty of vegetarian friendly products for cooking in your own home. I would recommend kings to anyone looking for great Chinese food.
Top spot for a healthy meal in Kensington!
Plant based meal, delicious
Kings Cafe is my all time favorite vegetarian restaurant. Their menu is diverse and consistently delicious. The servers and chefs are always so friendly and welcoming. I visited recently and the COVID protocols for both indoor and outdoor dining are cautious executed. The best part is that they sell mock meats in their shop. You can take the frozen/dried products home and try your hand at making any of your dine in favorites.
Great selection of vegetarian dishes! Love my soy ham fried rice! Its a good portion size too.
Consistently really great vegetarian food! Very tasty and great portions.
Best vegetarian food ever
Food here is fantastic! Delicious
Great vegetarian dim sum with good service. We ordered the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, imitation shrimp dumplings, fried turnip cake and stir-fry eggplant rice noodle. They were all very tasty. We also ordered the black ice tea and a healthy drink made with ginger, carrot and apple.Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
This place is incredible!! It s a must try for vegetarians/vegans in the city. Everything I ve tried has been insanely good. These people have meat substitutes down to a SCIENCE. I can t recommend this place enough! I will say, sometimes the service is a bit slow but they re always friendly and it is 100000% worth the wait.
Excellent for vegans. Sell Vegan fast cook middle, a variety of mushroom noodles, beef noodles, fish noodles, and etc. All confirmed Vegan foods.
Every time I make a trip to Toronto , take a friend out I make sure to make a stop at Kings Cafe . This is my most fav route vegan /vegetarian restaurant . The Kung Pao chicken is the best, the emoji mushroom dish is exquisite and the I. Store grocery store of vegetarian/vegan versions of fish sauce, meats, and fish alternatives is insanely awesome. My only wish is that we brought Kings cafe back to Waterloo region.
Fantastic food. Amazing variety of vegan options
I love all the vegetarian options that are popping up in the city, this is a very good one to try I quite enjoyed it make sure you are supporting the small businesses around you !
Everything is vegan or Vegetarian here... yay!! We ordered bunch of dumplings. Their hot and sour soup was delicious too with a hit of soya and vinegar.. Cant wait to come back
TLDR dont go here! The worst experience I had in Toronto There are so many good restaurants around it so I really recommend not sitting here Had a really disgustingly sweet entree and when I told the waiter he didnt care or agreed to replace it/give a discount for the bad experience
Wasnt so great, unfortunately :-/ We had 3 dishes, two if them were ok minus (kinda flavour less, but not gross), and the third was just bad. We told the waiter and he didnt seem to care, and the best he could do was give us 10% discount on a dish we did not eat. I feel like they could give us our money back or at least replace it.
The best vegetarian I have had in a long time. Extensive menu. Friendly staff. Beautiful neighborhood.
Best seitan Ive had. Amazing food, nice staff, and a nice little shop inside too.
It tastes so authentic and wonderful! The service is great and i love the tea selection. It s my favorite place to go to now.
The BBQ Buns are the best!!! I get them all the time! and they are so nice:)
We just had the oyster mushroom stir fry. Clean and well kept. Polite staff
Exceptional!! Where was that vegetarian BBQ pork all my life???
One of the best vegan restaurants in Toronto. Delicious food, excellent service.
If I want vegetarian food this is my first and often only choice, excellent selections that are all so very tasty I have the most difficulty when ordering because I want it all! Great location and a nice relaxed and quiet atmosphere make this a hands down favorite. If you havent been here you simply MUST!
Marvelous .The food is excellent
Food is good. Servers are pleasant. Ambiance not the best!
Love the food. A lot of variety for vegans
If 0 stars was an option i would give it. Our service was beyond terrible to the point where we had to ask multiple times for our food. The waitresses messed up everyones order and gave people wrong food. We did not leave a tip and got called out by our waitress for not tipping her awful customer service. Do not go to this restaurant! There are plenty of vegan restaurants around, save your time and go to them.
Ive never been more dissapointed with a restaurants service then I have at Kings Cafe. I went with a group of people for a birthday party and when it was time for cake we were handed the box and denied any help, plates and utensils. We had to figure it out ourselves because not everyone in the group tipped (which they made very clear). Honestly very surprised by the high rating. I will not be going back.
Great variety of vegetarian dishes to choose from!
Vegan food with a Chinese twist... try the duck with plum sauce!
I always come here for the vegetarian dim sum. I cant speak for the rest of the menu, but I find the dim sum quite faithful to its meat counterparts. Flavour and texture both well done. Absolute gem to be able to get vegetarian versions of food that traditionally contains meat. There is also a little take-home section where you can purchase vegetarian frozen items to take home and make yourself. Some of the items for purchase are directly from the menu too! I have always experienced good service. Polite and unobtrusive. Friendly when my friend and I were confused how we should try to eat one of the new dishes we ordered (answer was wrap in the lettuce leaf and eat with your hands). I tend to eat at quieter times, which means the food is usually ready pretty quickly. I think it is important to understand that Eastern establishments have different expectations for service than Western ones. The servers wont repeatedly come and check on how the food is tasting and ask whether they can get you something every 5-10 minutes. If you need something, politely get their attention and they will be happy help!
The food is delicious and the staff are helpful and friendly. I bring my non-vegetarian friends here all the time and they agree its the best faux meat around. The little shop at the back is amazing, they have a wonderful selection of teas and veggie-friendly meats. Highly recommend!!
Some of the best vegetarian dishes in the city. Spicy eggplant, Kung Po chicken are great
Im always amazed by vegetarian restaurants that make me think I can go vegetarian if it means this! Very flavourful with good textures and mouth feel.
Food was delicious, very simple area, good for a catch up location for people wanting to try a non-meat based menu
Great food! Highly recommend the BBQ seitan.
Yummy food.
Such a lovely spot in Kensington Market with such sweet staff! Its a fantastic choice for those looking for a vegetarian meal. They have a lovely eating space with a shop so you can buy some of the ingredients to make some of the dishes at home.
