The LC Cafe - An authentic Hong Kong Style restaurant coming soon near you. 老朱餐廳 - 港式西餐
The food and service were excellent. Each dish came in generous portions, definitely worth the price. The cafe also had a lovely ambiance, making it a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. We ordered three dishes, and each came with a drink of our choice, all of which tasted fantastic. Will visit again 😆
Had the steak on iron plate last week. It came with their soup, salad and drink. The soup I got was a bit sweet at this place, salad just spring mix with one tomato and very little dressing. The steak sauce lack flavour but there salt on the table. Overall, just okay la. It’s pretty busy here, it feels fancy. I would like to come back and try other items some other time.
Baked escargot is TOO SALTY not recommended and won’t order it again. The taste of black truffle fried rice with abalone and chicken, and baked black pepper sauce on ox tongue with fried rice are good. Just too much entire round pepper in the sauce. HK style milk tea is good and silky too! Overall, nice tableware and environment.
Good Hong Kong style restaurant. Good and silky milk tea. A slightly better quality food at a much higher price. The portion is quite small, actually. Staff are nice. The deco is still new and stylish.
Came here on a holiday night for dinner and got seated right away. There aren’t many two seaters that seemed comfortable, they reserve the sofa seats for bigger parties it seems. Otherwise, the decor inside is very elegant and has the upscale vibe which is on par with the pricing and quality of the food they serve. I personally loved the lobster bisque Arborio rice. They serve it separately with the bisque and they pour half of it in the rice for you and leave you the rest of the bisque to drink on its own! Extremely filling as good portion size. The chicken steak with black pepper sauce was also very savoury and flavourful, the pepper taste is extremely strong and we loved it as well. Cash or debit only. Definitely coming back for afternoon tea and their desserts 🤤
Food is excellent. Service is great. Atmosphere is very loud, with hard walls that reflect everyone's chatter. It's as loud as a busy restaurant during dim sum. Other than the very loud dining room, it's beautifully designed and laid out. We ordered the Thai basil shrimp spaghetti, lobster bisque with rice, and the white wine clams to start. The food is on par with any good Western restaurant such as Joey or Earl. The chef is definitely classically trained. I will be returning to eat through their menu. It's nice to know there are high quality Hong Kong cafes in GTA.
I always wanted to try this place when I passed by but it doesn't open until close to lunch. We arrived at around 430 pm today just in time to get their $10 cash only afternoon tea promotion. We didn't know about it ahead of time so we just shared one dish as we were low on cash. The fried chicken people ordered looked so good but we went with the beef ho fun so we wouldn't get a sore throat. It is on the smaller side but great for a snack. It was 100% perfection and amazing. Great wok hay, a good amount of large soft pieces of beef. Best I have ever tasted. Their regular menu has a lot of fusion pastas that my friend has tried and vouches for. I cannot wait to come back! Also, loved that the water served there is warm :) Edit: tried their regular menu. Pork cutlet with french mushroom sauce is delicious. I wish it had more gravy though. It came with 2 huge pieces which made the $20 price tag more acceptable. Hot milk tea was perfect and again, the warm water served was the ideal temperature. The Angus beef red curry was good but not especially memorable.
We came here for tea on a Friday afternoon. The tea set is now on promotion at $10/set from 3pm to 5pm. When we arrived at around 3:15pm, the restaurant was almost full. After we sat down, there were people waiting for table. Better to come a bit early if you don’t want to queue. We ordered one club sandwich and one fried beef ho fan with hot milk tea. I am impressed by how they serve milk tea. Unlike normal restaurants and HK style cafe in Toronto, hot milk tea here is served in Le Creuset cup while cold milk tea is served cold in a little ice bucket. The sandwich with chicken was served in a big plate while the ho fan was served in a small plate which made the portion of the ho fan look much smaller. The portion of the ho fan is right for me, just I think it could be a bit more salty. The sandwich is good. The price of tea set is great, the staff is attentive, and the decor is modern with comfortable seating. Overall, I had a good dining experience here and will come back again to try other dishes!
Very good for the December special!!! But why 2 dollars for ice for a drink? 1 dollar is standard. Also the salad could use a lot more dressing but other than that, my course was very good
The parking lot is small and it is difficult to find a parking space. The price of the food is not cheap, but the food is mediocre and the service attitude is not so good. No matter how busy and crowded at the time, the waiters are still chatting and laughing, but do not do anything serious. I saw that there were multiple tables waiting for more than ten minutes to pay the bill, but no one paid attention. The guy waiting for the takeout had already seen the food in front of him and just waited for more than 5 minutes for the staff to confirm. The staff here seemed not to understand what multitasking is. No place to spend money and get angry.
Very good only wait for 5 min Three order
Great place for a cozy meal! Food is yummy and there are a lot pf truffle options! The service is great! Barely any wait time for a table. Their milk tea is scrumptious!
Food was delicious, came quickly after we ordered as well. The tea milk tea was flawless as well. The staff were quick and polite. Great experience all together.
The food was good though a little on the pricer side of a Hong Kong cafe. Definitely go for the afternoon tea special, otherwise, it feels a little much for what youre getting. The food was well cooked, and came out without too much wait. The servers primarily speak Cantonese. The place was clean and spacious.
Came in wait for a long time for staff to clean table for us. Than someone walked in and gave our table to them. We walked out. No thanks even if there s even a promotion.
The waitress was very rude when I asked her question. The coffee was warm and no taste. The shrimp toast was okay. It was my first time to go there. But it is the last time, too. I talked to my friend about this cafe, he had the same experience about the staff being very rude. to him. It is really the way they talk. He also decided not to go there again.
Their afternoon tea set special is a great deal. I tried several of the menu items but my favourite is always the french toast and the spaghetti with meat sauce. Very classic and I love how it comes with a drink with their 10$ price tag. Ive found that getting takeout to avoid the crowds has worked well for me and their online ordering system is also very seamless.
The food is very delicious
we went to that place for afternoon tea. It was packed! The food and service were good, but the portions were small. I guess thats to be expected with afternoon tea. But get this, when the bill came, they had a cash discount! The spaghetti on the menu was $12.99, but they only charged us $10. What a nice surprise!
Understaffing, bad service, subpar food quality and dishonest business practices We visited this elevated Hong Kong café on a Sunday afternoon. My first impression was that it felt small, with the typical HK café setup of basic tables and chairs. My wife tried ordering beef ho fan, but it was unavailable, so she opted for Afternoon Tea Combo #3. However, when she requested it, the waitress replied bluntly, stating she couldn t remember all the different tea combos and insisted my wife specify exactly what she wanted. Instead of politely asking for clarification, her tone made it seem as if my wife was inconveniencing her, which felt unprofessional and unacceptable. There was also no syrup served with the French toast. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, assuming it was seasoned enough not to need any. However, the toast turned out to be only savory. When I asked the same waitress for syrup, she responded with a visibly annoyed expression. While I understood they were short-staffed with only three employees serving customers, it was still no excuse for poor customer service. By comparison, Café de Hong Kong on Hwy 7 has over seven staff members for a similar crowd. The food quality was disappointing; the fried items were overcooked, leaving the exterior overly hard. Portions were small, but that was understandable given the afternoon tea pricing. When we received the bill, the prices differed from those on the menu. When I inquired, I was told it was due to a promotion. I asked why this wasn t posted anywhere in the restaurant, and the waitress explained it could end at any time and walked away. In any case, the promotion seemed negligible, as the French toast was listed at $8.99 on the menu but charged at $10 on the bill. In conclusion, this was a frustrating experience, and we won t be returning to this café.
After 1 hour finished dinner, not feeling thirsty. Food quality reflected in the price, you get what you pay for.
bad food, poor service. With this price like at least $25+ per person with tips and tax. Highly not recommended. Go somewhere.
The food was not very good quality and was overpriced. On top of that, there was dirt in our drink. The owner always having an attitude, not friendly at all. Do not know how she run her business. It was overall a very bad experience.
Settings too tight too close to the next table. Definitely Hong Kong style space wise. The food is good. Except for the mussels which had sand in them. Hope they will improve on that. Desserts need improvement big time. Parking: Difficult to find parking. Otherwise, I would have been going there more often. If the desserts can be improved, thats another reason I would want to go more often. Most important is parking , really.
Parking in this area is hard to find. Food options are great and decent value for the price. I especially enjoyed the ox tongue dish. Ordered the seafood Arborio this time. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu
I had gone thru the google review before I went there. Some said their price and service. Cause I don t eat carbs, as a Hong Kong, there is not much ppl doing low carb. In which I am quite surprised. I like taste and dishes are quite high standard. For service, maybe they always full house, a bit under staffs, however they were so nice and attentive. For price I am not ok if I can get the quality I wanted. I saw happy faces next to me while i was my lunch. Will return for other items. Cheer!
Unexpected location for this little cafe but the food was great! This isn t really a Hong Kong style cha chaan teng although they do have great tasting milk tea - we found the lobster rose pasta and red Thai curry beef delicious! Would definitely come back!
Great hk style food, got the ox tongue rice, it was flavourful, tender and juicy. Gravy and rice was great too.
DISHONEST practice !! LC Cafe offers $10 happy hour / afternoon tea deals. Unfortunately, customers are always told that their Singapore vermicelli is sold out for the day, but this item becomes available right after happy hours. They LIE about it because its regular price is higher than other items on their special menu. Why not removing it entirely from the menu instead??
They have a purpose in doing this. The mushroom cream soup is so delicious, it doesnt feel like its poured out of a can. The baked pork chop with rice is generous. The taste is not unpalatable, but it is not similar to the baked pork chop rice that I am familiar with. The juice is somewhat similar to that of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, so it should contain the juice. The base of the rice is quite dry. Personally, I recommend adding more juice to the noodles and more cheese to make it taste better. The steak was really good, it was called medium, and it was quite red when cut out. It definitely meets the requirements. The fries at the bottom taste pretty good. Its a little bit pretty, but I think its a bit sweet for my taste. It doesnt suit me. There are a lot of dishes I want to try now. Will return.
Good
The interior decor looks stunning. Food was not bad. Pricing is slightly overpriced it was more on the atmosphere side. The HK milk tea looks okay, just instagram worthy.
came here with my boyz and we had a good time overall. the food quality was amazing but i found the portions to be pretty lacking, as its def not filling. prices were pre high here too compared to other hk cafes so i think this one is aight.
The lobster rose pasta was delicious. The portion is a bit small though considering its around $25 after tax.
This was our first time to try this restaurant and quite disappointed about the service. Initially, no one told me about the $10 cash promotion until she ordered the wrong item for us. We were in a hurry and left immediately once we finished the food.
The food tasted good but the curry Angus beef was room temperature and not tender.. We thought about sending it back. The tomotato pork chop was good and same with the truffle shrimp risotto. Honestly the place looked nice but the price didnt match the food provided. The meals come with a drink but it should also come with a soup at that price.
We went to your place twice. Overall the food was good, especially the beef hoi fun, which tasted really good with wok hay . The shrimp toast was also good. For the club sandwich, it seemed to be missing something. if it could add in some bacon, the taste would be much better .
Highly recommend the shrimp cake sandwich with iced milktea!
One of the server (lady) is unfriendly and impatient. Not sure whats wrong with her attitude while taking our order. Poor and rude attitude. The other servers are friendly. Food quality is ok, soup is very salty. We had ox tongue with spaghetti and chicken & pork on sizzling plate.
I ordered a baked pork chop dish that took 40mins to make. My order was likely missed but the staff refused to admit it. They kept delaying my order and later said that they ran out of pork and had to re-batter it. I wish they had just communicated this from the beginning so I could ve ordered something else but all I got were confused stares every time I asked for an update. The dish looked rushed when it finally arrives which hurt the taste.
Price is mid-to-high Food OK But the baked rice is a bit salty
The food is good, but the seats are cramped.
A more upscale HK cafe than the others offering good selections on the menu. Food was delicious as I tried both the black pepper chicken steak and the shrimp cake burger. A very generous size cup of tea/coffee is included with most meals. Would come back again and try more dishes.
he restaurant has a great atmosphere, with simple and bright decor. The steak was delicious, , and the meat was tender and flavorful. The presentation of the dishes was also very impressive. Overall, a very enjoyable brunch experience!
Not very accessible, tight seating when packed. They do not like give a 4 seater to less than 3 people (when all the other 2 seaters are full). I gave up on trying to get a table for dine in (there are plenty of available tables but they only wanted to give me a 2 seater) and ordered take out. Unfortunately take out had very low priority- they mentioned 15 minutes wait and it ended up being almost 30 minutes. Many people who arrived after me received their dish before mine, because they were dine in.
The meals in the afternoon tea time between 3 to 5 pm are superb, great value, and good tasting. Will continue to visit.
Enjoy the tea time menu as everything is $10 so far. Hot milk tea comes with le crueset cup. Food portion is smaller but for what you are paying, its not a bad deal and the food is tasty so will definitely come back again
I would like to give a five but the that I tried was a bit disappointing despite that the waitress said the restaurant was not specialized in frying dishes. For the good side, the price for tea set is unbeatable even though the size of the dish is smaller than usual (termed as mini in the menu). Other dishes like and are good for money too and the is tasty and very Hong Kong style-like. For those missing home Kong, the milk tea is a must try. And, as everyone here speaks Cantonese, you can imagine youre still in Hong Kong.
Update after my 3rd visit - August 2024 _----------------++------ I need to downgrade the rating from 5 to 4 stars in all categories. We had and Club Sandwich. The was super greasy and tasteless. The milk tea was weak. The club sandwich and were good as usual. Perhaps because they are having promotion $10 fixed price for all afternoon tea, the place was full and noisey. Also, there is just one single use bathroom for each gender, there was a line to use the facility. Hence the overall experience was as great as our last 2 visits. -------------------------- This place has just became my new favorite HKG style restaurant. Nice decor, good service and delicious and generous portions food.
There is still a long way to go between the French lobster soup and COVA 1817, but the price is similar, it lacks the sweet aroma of lobster and shrimp paste, and it is only slightly warm when served. I also ordered the charcoal-burning Lyonnais black pepper sauce chicken chop with rice, but the chicken chop was a bit dry. I ordered another cup of hot water twice but was still missing when I paid the bill.
Very good food and service. Victor was extremely helpful and made sure our experience was amazing. Highly recommend trying if you already havent.
I ordered a baked pork with rice which came with a Staub baking dish. The presentation was great, but the food was too salty and not hot, even the baking dish didn t feel heated up. The price is totally not worth for the taste. Milk tea is not bad tho.
We always like to dine in Cha chang tang (Hong Kong-style cafe), however in Montreal, there is no Cha chang tang good, we have to go to Toronto for that, recently we went to Toronto for a mini vacation, and the main reason the trip is to eat in various restaurants as the standard in Toronto is a lot higher than Montreal. Our hotel is located in Richmondhill, therefore we searched on Google for a good Hong Kong-style cafe in the area. Finally, we found The LC cafe, we went to try this restaurant during the high tea time, there were four of us that sat in a table for four, I found that the tables were laid out quite close to each other, I had been banged in the back 3 times during the meal by other diner. We only chose 3 dishes to share for the meal, since we were not so hungry. We decided on the stir-fried rice stick with beef, baked pork chop on rice, and baked spaghetti, each dish comes with a drink, we chose a lemon tea with ice and two Hong Kong-style milk tea, each dish marked on the menu is $12.99, as for the stir-fried rice stick with beef is excellent, the baked pork-chop on rice is ok but the baked spaghetti is tasteless, the portion is average, as for the drink. the iced lemon tea is ok and the Hong Kong-style milk tea is very good, the tea is silky smooth, and its been a long time to had a good Hong Kong-style milk tea. when we asked for the bill, we looked at the bill and found out that each dish only cost $10 instead of $12.99 on the menu, that is a good deal for us, overall we will recommend this restaurant to anyone if you come to this area.
First time to here for a lunch. This is a small HK style restaurnat and the tables are very close to each other. After sitting down for 5+ minutes, still no one came to ask me what I wanted, although a waitress came to my next table to greet the customers she knew and chatted. She just stood beside me! I have to waive another waitress to come and order. I ordered deep fried HK style shrimp toast and hot coffee. I saw a waitress was holding the toast and coming to me, and then turned back and gave it to another table! Then, that waitress came to me and said it was given to another table by mistake and needed to order again! What? I saw her was coming to my direction and turned back to another table. Is it by MISTAKE?? I asked her how long I have to wait and she said around 10 minutes, and asked me are you in rush? If I am not in rush, I have to accept their MISTAKE?? I told her it is my lunch time and I have go back to office. I am not coming for a high tea! Since I came here is mainly for the shrimp toast. I waited for another one. It is freshly deep fried but too dry. The coffee is just warm, not hot. Will I come back? No! Too many HK style cafe nearby and no one to receive such services, well, no services!
Returning customer, price is above average but fair for its quality. Their drinks definitely is a must try!
I dont really expect much in terms of customer service when it comes to HK cafes but I couldnt ignore this experience. Ordered a yuen yeung and it was really sour (perhaps old coffee beans?) - asked the server if they could possibly remake it. We were rudely told that its just how it tastes... Disappointing to be honest. The atmosphere is nice - Ill give them that.
UPSCALE HK FOOD REASONABLE PRICE ____________________________________ Lobster bisque risotto was good. Milk tea is amazing. Decor is beautiful. Definitely not your average HK cafe. Great job. Another amazing place to go for food along with the cart noodle shop.
Great food and service.
Had the Ox Tongue. 10/10 would highly recommend. Need to come back to try other things. Food
Coke costs 4.5, but you have to drink it as a cold drink with a meal and add two mosquito bites. It s funny!
It was the first time I went to have the afternoon tea of dry-fried beef river, spaghetti with meat sauce, and frozen lemon tea, which was less sweet. The dry-fried beef river oil is extremely delicious, and the frozen lemon tea is less sweet and becomes sweeter. The cash discount is not stated or written, and the debit card machine is required for the regular price, and the staff is tanned. No next time.
Atmosphere: clean, bright Food: with respect to the tea time special, both items ordered are over average, milk tea is also up to standard Service:good, consider to tell us ahead of time what is on special, willing to answer questions we ask
The environment is comfortable, the product is good, and the pork chop buns are generous! Yuanyang milk tea is delicious
Bit under staffed.Server took our order, but I guess it was so busy that she forgot to send it in. After 15min we wanted to add a 3rd plate. Its then she realized that our order was never send and she has forgotten was our orders was and have to ask us what we order.
Delicious
The price is fair and the quality is good. Overall, its a pretty good restaurant.
Fancier HK style cafe at a higher price point Good food, a lot more western influence in their dishes and decor Up scale dishware and colour theme Mugs are Le Creuset and some dishware are Staub Great service, tables are quick to be cleaned and turned around Lovely and clear menus High tea menu available
It specializes in Hong Kong-style cart noodles. I was supposed to try new products, but I couldn t stand the food-free cart noodles, so I continued to order the family portrait every time. Every ingredient is cooked separately. The only drawback is that Abalone, I think it is better if abalone is cooked independently and tastes the same as other foods.
This fancy little HK cafe was so busy on a midday Friday, then I remembered its probably because their afternoon tea (3-5pm) is so much more worth than their regular menu. For almost half the price, you can get similar items (although some items are labelled as mini) and basically taste your way through their menu. I think everything we ordered was pretty good, but nothing stood out to me as the best, although I never tried truffle scrambled eggs before so that was unique. I definitely do wanna come back and try more of their menu. After 5pm the rush immediately stopped, so I think if you wanted to try this place, consider arriving closer to 3-4pm than 4-5pm if you want to make it for afternoon tea, or if you dont care, anytime after 5pm should be less busy. My parents and I arrived around 4:40 and waited 10 minutes for a seat, so we only just made it for the afternoon tea time. Another curious thing I noticed is that if you order off their app/site, the afternoon tea prices are $10, but they are $12.99 if you dine-in. One of the employees confirmed this for us as well, so if youre hoping to save a couple dollars, just order take out online.
Afternoon tea set is very cost-effective $10 worth of food The whole store is full today. It s good to see many silver-haired people helping you
Service was a little slow but it was fine after trying the delicious food.
Spent a relaxing afternoon with family on a Saturday here. Food was good with friendly service and environment. The deep fried shrimp toast was out of my expectation, even better than some famous restaurants we tried in Hong Kong. Kid-friendliness: My kids enjoyed the food and environment here
I should have ordered something else, I guess.
The Sing Chew fried rice is so delicious that you remember to take a photo before finishing it. Although the price is relatively expensive, the quality of the food is very good, and the drinks with the meal are very large.
The food is average but service was very good/friendly. The decorations were very nice. Recommend.
Found staff nice & attentive, especially with our 2 kids. $51 for 2 main & 2 drinks, which is reasonable nowadays. Tiger schrimp spaghetti is what i preferred the most. Lobster bisque with arborio rice is decent.. not a risotto, not a soup. Its steamed arborio rice in the middle of lobster bisque.. hot lemon ice tea was part of the main dish price, needed to add $2 for ice lemon tea Parking: Shared with several businesses. Parking is narrow Kid-friendliness: Have high chairs & kids plates & rubber cutlery. Staff is nice with kids as well
Update Apr 2024: Visited again, but this time for lunch, since my friends said they had a good experience. The menu for lunch is the same as the dinner menu. I ordered the club sandwich and my mom ordered the thick toast with iced butter. Both items did not come with a drink since it was not tea time (3pm to 5pm). The price of the club sandwich is standard for an HK cafe, but I would say its a priced higher since it comes without a drink and other HK restaurants usually have a drink. The thick toast with iced butter was a terrible choice. It costs $6.99 + tax for two slices of bread and 4 pieces of butter. Definitely not worth it. Unlikely to return again. Original review: LC Cafe positions itself as a high end HK cafe. The service from the staff was good. The decor/atmosphere was nice - it definitely felt more premium compared to other HK cafes. The items on the menu are more expensive than other HK cafes located uptown. Most items on the menu include a hot drink. I found the hot HK milk tea to be really good - the tea was very smooth. Unfortunately, the baked bolognese spaghetti I ordered was not. The spaghetti was dry and lacked flavour. I ended up leaving half of it unfinished. It was not worth the $20.99 (the most expensive baked bolognese spaghetti Ive had). My parents liked the lobster bisque with arborio rice that they ordered.
I ordered at the front for takeout and lady server was talking sht about me to her coworker in front of me in Cantonese, and I am canto so I understood everything they were saying.
Its not cheap, but feels like a high-end tea restaurant in Central. 20 yuan per dish plus tip, the milk tea base is too old and astringent. Overall the taste is okay.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and everytime I come out very pleased of going there. The owner is super friendly and staff are so good at their job. Food is top notch and excellent in quality and flavors. Owner saw my partner take a piece of zucchini from my plate, and he rushed in the kitchen and brought a plate of zucchini for her on the house. How cool is that? This is my favorite restaurant now.
Just take the photo of soup and appetizer, the iron steak is too messy to deal with. But all are in good favor. It is an alternate deal for going regular Cantonese restaurants. Good.
The best eisbein and sauerkraut ever! I usually do not like this dish, but they made it so tasty and perfect temperature. The skin is crispy and plenty of meats. The sauerkraut and sides were perfect. The price is a bit pricey (perhaps can make it into a combo with a drink and dessert to make up the price) The sizzling plate dish was pretty good. I like the Lyonnaise black pepper sauce, however the salad could be better, such as pairing with HK style salad, as it is a HK cafe. The service is a bit slow and need to change the restaurant temperature as it was chilly. Overall, good new restaurant to try. Parking: Difficult to find parking, not much spaces
High quality hk cafe classics
Came in for the $10 afternoon tea special and got the shrimp toast, duo fish and shrimp sliders, Singaporean noodles, and Swiss beef noodles. Food was mediocre, nothing special. The fish slider and Singaporean noodles tasted the best. Not really worth it for the regular price. Drinks were not good at all, that was the weirdest hot chocolate I drank I had to brace myself to finish it and their tea blend was too bland, so the lemon tea and milk tea drinks weren t good either. Service was okay but they wouldn t combine two 2-person tables to make a 4-person table, so we had to wait.
3rd here, first time lunch. The food was pretty good before. Not sure is it cause it is weekend lunch and they got busy, the milktea taste like milk only, before it got really good and strong tea flavour. The baked ox tongue rice was super oily, barely finished 1/3 and had to takeaway. I had that before it was much better. Another ox tongue boullion the sauce was too little and pale. Wonder did they change the chef. $50+ for 2 for lunch is way overpriced But it is really clean tidy and new.
First time visiting. Heard about this place from a few friends. Nice decor. Friendly service. Pork chop sandwich/fries/salad and milk tea were all very good. Lots of attention to detail from the Le Creuset mug and coaster to the plating. Thanks for a great lunch.
Today I called to take out Gillette Pork Chop. The waiter called me and asked me if I needed any cutlery. I asked for instructions on the phone but there was no cutlery. A male waiter was talking to the manager on the phone. Tell him if the customer is angry. After answering the phone, the manager insisted that I didnt need tableware so he didnt provide it. He meant there was nothing wrong with it, but the fault was that I didnt need tableware to eat. The price is more expensive than ordinary tea restaurants, and the service is worse than ordinary tea restaurants.
Hidden gem. Brilliant service and excellent food. We dined in on a Friday night, parking was pretty bad, but the restaurant wasnt too busy. In fact Im really surprised by how not busy it is, given the fact that the food is excellent and service was great. Price wise it was around 25 dollars per person, portions might be small compared to other HK style restaurants, but for me it was perfect. The staff was polite, professional and hard working, food was awesome, perfect 5/5! Special shout out to the owner/manager who chose the utensils, cups, and overall food presentation. Really high quality stuff, it makes a huge difference in the dining experience.
Worst service never ever seen. waitress has atttidue, throw the bill on your desk , gave u back face . Food tasted ok but too greasy. Never will come back
We went there for afternoon tea, but was very crowded. We order 3 cause, 1 angus beef noodle ($13.99), 1 baked pork chop rice($12.99) 1 french toast ($8.99). There was no notice about promotion price anywhere or mentioned by the waiter when we order our food. We checked the bill, all 3 items were charged at $10 per item. The service man mentioned promotion price is $10 per item. How come the original price for French Toast $8.99 were charged for $10? Over charged by $1.01 What theory of promotion price for over charge an original item was less than $10? The quantity and quality were just moderate and doesnt value for the original price Parking: narrow parking
After much anticipation finally tried out the LC cafe and it was a little disappointing. The decor of the establishment is very chic and I loved the le creuset mugs and the bronzy water cup with their cafe name branded. Our server was friendly and helpful in answering my questions about the menu which was very much appreciated. It s also nice that 1 standard hot drink is included in the price of all the dishes. The lobster egg on rice came out steaming hot but like many reviewers have mentioned before, unfortunately the ox tongue dish came out lukewarm at best even the gravy. I ll go back maybe once more to give them another shot when I m in the area next. Likely will try one of their pasta dishes or the lobster egg on rice. Parking: Narrow parking lot with tight spots
The decor is reasonably nice looking inside. However, since I went during afternoon tea time atmosphere was not as tranquil as it could be. Nonetheless, the service was still pleasant and efficient. The fried shrimp toast was the show-stopper, the photo doesn t do it justice. It looked way more impressive in real life. And it tasted good! The rest of the food was all fine nothing too exciting. They currently have a promotion where all their afternoon tea set meals are $10 which is a great value! I am interested in going back perhaps for dinner to try out some of their other items!
Their deep-fried HK style shrimp toast ($12.99) was an ideal seafood to bread ratio, the toast topped with shrimp paste and a butterflied shrimp. Indeed, the toast was slightly greasy (expected from this dish), but it was well drained so that it remained crispy and wasn t overly oil logged. The starter was a better than the LC lobster roll ($22.99), which my husband described as mostly mayonnaise with little chunks of lobster. Its only saving grace, the bun was at least fresh and well toasted. Feeling hungry, the striploin steak with lobster tail on iron plate ($42.99) seemed like a good choice with soup and salad included to complete the meal. LC Café s Russian borscht follows an Eastern European recipe and includes chunks of beets, so the soup is sweeter than normal. It s also thicker while still having the slight kick of spiciness. Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer the tomato, cabbage, and beef version any day. Still, the soup was better than the green salad, which was essentially a handful of spring mix tossed in watered down balsamic vinegar. Without other vegetables or even olive oil, it was a harsh and disappointing salad. The hot plate was really hot, which means that if you don t want your steak over cooked, I d recommend getting it less done. You ll also want to start tucking into the vegetables and fries as they will start to burn. Scoop some onto a side plate to avoid having them getting overly done. Not surprisingly, the striploin wasn t the greatest quality and needed more seasoning so that its flavours didn t rely so heavily on the Lyon black pepper sauce. It s strange as the pork chop with lobster tail ($36.99) that my mom ordered was marinated so much that it was too salty. Sadly, there seems to be little consistency on the flavouring of meat. Even though the dinner arrives with plenty of fries, I wish the restaurant offered a choice of sides as I would have preferred rice instead. At least the lobster tail was a decent size but would be easier to eat if left whole and pulled out of the shell to make it easier to cut. The LC Café offers pleasant service and comfortable tables, which is a plus. They also didn t rush customers out of the restaurant, many sitting there after their meals were complete. Long live the older Asian plazas.
Ghostwriting - Homeowner s Words I think the food is salty, but the texture is good
We have tried the Noodle Bar at Warden/HW7 many times and have been very good every time. They opened another HK style Cafe in Scarborough. This cafe is very spacious and the decor is upfront. They even use Le Creuset as their cup for tea. I believe they will eventually run it as an upscale cafe. We were there for afternoon tea, and their menu was $10 flat for their trial period. We ordered the Deep fried HK style shrimp toast and Mini Singapore curry vermicelli with abalone slices. It was the first time we found shrimp toast in Toronto and the dish came hot and crispy, as well delicious. The Singapore vermicelli was just average because the vermicelli was still smashed together. Will come back again for other specialties.
Food is a bit pricey but worth the price tag. Unlike other hk cafe, you can feel that they put in a bit more care into the food and service. They offered even offered me extra sauce on the side!
The 4 stars rating is based on its afternoon tea menu The restaurant is having a promotion on their afternoon tea menu for $10 per meal from 3-5. Portion is kinda small but the taste and its service is good. The cafe setting is very good and the use of good quality utensils increase customer experience. The 3 of us had to order 4 meals
The baked pork chop rice is too salty, the French lobster soup with Italian rice is not good, the Sichuan scallop stewed with lemon soda has no taste, the iced milk tea is good, the shrimp toast is good, the overall food is not proportional to the price
It s delicious, exquisite, and the price is reasonable!
Great deal for happy hour, got the club sandwich and chicken wings with fries. Both were very good and the portions are generous for the discounted price. The milk tea was also very smooth!
LC Cafe is located in the Scarborough Village shopping area. The Western-style restaurant is quite unique, moderately delicious, and affordable. The afternoon tea from 3 to 5 oclock is even more crowded, and the seats are packed. There are three or five close friends, or an old couple getting along. Lets taste delicious Western food together. high food quality, decent utensils, nice service, but high price relatively; high food quality, decent utensils, nice service, but high price relatively;
Take the route of a high-end tea restaurant. The tableware is all branded, with Staub plates of baked rice and Le Creuset cups of milk tea. The presentation and presentation are carefully thought out, and the price is of course higher accordingly, regardless of the taste. try
Today I took out two afternoon tea baked pork chop rice. I ordered by phone at 3pm. I received a reply that I would pick it up at 3:25 and arrive at 3:20 to pay. The waiter asked me to turn around, so I had to go out and wait for 5 minutes before entering. The waiter said that the chef had not yet arrived. When I made it, I mainly cooked it for dine-in first, and then took it out at 3:45. When I opened it at home, the hot milk tea and hot lemon tea had turned into herbal tea, which made me feel uneasy. Since the main course hadnt been served yet, why did the tea have to be made first? The tea is served immediately after ordering at 3 oclock. After 45 minutes, the rice is served and the tea is cold. As a neighbor, I hope this can be improved
In the heart of Scarborough with nice branding and great services, cute cafe with modern decor . The food offerings are mostly Chinese Cha Chaang Tang with a modern touch and there are afternoon tea time available between 3-5pm. Food portions are a bit smaller for their afternoon tea sizes but the drinks included come in Le Creuset mugs which is generally larger than average restaurants. Hot chocolate available for the kids and lots of French fries option. Great seating area to meet with girlfriends.
The afternoon tea set is good value, but the tomato pork chop rice is so sour. The sauce is too sour. It is the sourest tomato pork chop rice I have ever eaten. Order with caution.
Visited for the first time. Food is a solid A. The pork fingers are lightly battered and tasty. The chicken steak is MASSIVE. The biggest piece Ive ever gotten from a restaurant. Lots of value. Service is A+. Even when everyone was busy, the servers who were eating their dinner (i.e. on break) would stop to take care of the tables. Atmosphere is A+. The restaurant aims to provide an upscale environment with high quality plating and utensils and have successfully achieved their goal. Well done. Will come back to try more. Dietary restrictions: Able to substitute rice for cauliflower rice, for those looking for a lower calorie option.
Went here for lunch today as recommended by a friend. When I walked in was impressed with the overall look of restaurant and cleanliness. Ordered the Baked Pork Chop rice with cherry tomatoes and pineapples. I tried a lot of this dish at other restaurants and this is probably one of the best tasting one I ve had. Portion was generous even though a bit more pricy then other restaurants.
Value for money, good service and good taste
Overpriced for a Hong Kong style cafe. Food took 40 minutes from order to table as well. There were only 7 tables seated at that time.
Food was delicious, lots of meat! It gets loud inside and the top machine has only 15% as the lowest feature. Worsening the otherwise perfect experience Food
The food wasnt terrible, just slightly salty. Unfortunately, the service was lacking, with unhelpful staff, making it an unpleasant dining experience.
Plating for the tea sets are appealing with special discount that wont break your wallet. Deep fried items such as shrimp toast, chicken wings with french fries are crispy. Baked porkchop rice and spaghetti bolognese are delicious. Truffle cream sauce is divine.
Decent food waited 25 minutes for my food.
I had made reservations for this cafe. I personally wouldn t call it a cafe as I see cafes are more quiet and a place to study or read. But this seems like a cafe you d find in Hong Kong, so probably that was the idea. The food was good, nothing special about it. The menu is quite extensive it seems like a high end Hong Kong cafe style. The matcha latte was quite good. We went during happy hour so the meal was decently priced per person.
The Tiger Shrimp Pad Thai was not good. The sauce in the pad Thai tasted like a tomato sauce. The dish had chewy, over cooked pork mixed into the noodles when nowhere on the menu states that pork is in the dish. Because of this, I only ate half of the food. Service was lacking as well. We had to wave down a server to take our order. Then through dinner, no one came to check on us. We had to wave down the server again to settle our bill
We came here for the afternoon tea. The chicken leg was very crunchy and flavourful. The potato salad is little blend in flavour. The prawn on toast is average. Good service.
Visited twice in one week already, this place was just that good. While they are a HK style cafe, some of their dishes are not the typical ones. They add a little twist to make their food more fancy and elegant. It s almost like a fusion between HK and western. But they do have the homey HK dishes if that s what you re craving for. Plating for their dishes were pleasant and the taste could not be better. Their milk tea (hot and cold) tasted amazing and on point, but their lemon tea didn t have enough tea flavour. Loved their Tiger shrimp spaghetti with cream sauce. Wished they accepted credit card though (only debit). Excited to go back to try more next time!
I love your brand
We had for lunch : Lobster bisque - A+ Chicken soft bone - A Black truffle with shrimp & egg - A- Beef tongue - D The tongue was too soft and the sauce was stale. The dish looked dead ! I love the restaurant and most of their food. The only missing ingredient in order to be a great restaurant is they don t serve alcohol. I suggested to the owner that he should at least serve wine and beer. A good meat dish without wine is like a day without sunshine. Will definitely go back to try the other dishes on the menu. And looking forward to their wine and beer additions.
Went there today for afternoon tea and take out, the food and atmosphere there were good: Good price and Good settings for dine in. Yet, there were some downsides about the food that hopefully would be improved: 1) the milk tea that comes with the meal tastes too thick, there might be too much milk added; 2) we ordered a Singapore-style fired noodles ( , the overall taste is fine but we found that it might be too spicy and there were some curry powder unevenly clustered in noodles ( they might cooked this in rush since we order it during the last-call period in the afternoon?). In addition, we found a small mental string(picture attached) being left in the noodles while I almost swallowed it and it might cause severe health issues. They should be more careful and no rush when trying to use the new-washed wok for cooking. Hope they could avoid these problems and get improved in our next visiting.
The meat of the ox tongue dish was bland and cold. The rice was low quality rice and also cold. The oven baked dish was burnt, and the rice beneath the sauce was also cold. The HK style tea was bitter. Maybe they mixed the old tea with new tea, and ended up spoiling the whole pot. This was absolutely a no no in brewing beverages.
This restaurant is for those looking for an upgraded HK cafe experience. The decor is fancy and menu offerings deliberately luxurious. You ll find Ingredients such as black truffle, tiger shrimp and angus beef added to traditionally basic dishes. As a result, price point is high for HK cafe style food. However you do get better ingredients and higher quality food. The chefs here are skillful. Each dish I had was cooked perfectly. The most refined HK cafe food i ve had in Toronto. Flavour, texture, sauces, doneness they ve nailed it all. Honestly a little shocked how good they make HK style food. I recommend checking out LC cafe. Just remember to level set your price expectations as this is not your usual HK style cafe.
Every dish I had so far are excellent. Just the milk tea had a little more milk the second time I went.
The lobster sauce is very rich, better than most Italian restaurants.
Theres a waitress with an attitude.
Food was okay but for HK style food it is too pricey for what it is. We got the prawn and bbq pork with egg on rice and for $22 + tax and tip the portion side is almost a third smaller than other places and 1.5 times more expensive. Only 4 prawns and maybe 10-12 pieces of cha siu. They could at least add more rice to make it more satiating or filling. It s not even fried rice just basic white rice too. The only positive was that the cha siu was crispy and had a good balance with fat but I don t know if it justifies the cost. The creamy prawn pasta with dried tomatoes was okay but took longer than expected to serve and took another 5-10 minutes after finishing the rice before it was served. The dining room was barely half full so not sure why it took so long ymmv. Also don t know why making a cold drink is $2 extra, other places charge maybe a $1 but I mean you re getting less drink and more water but I guess it s to pay for the le creuset mugs.
A good place for quick Hong Kong café style in Scarborough. The food was good and decent portions, but the price is fairly expensive for a cafe.
A special Hong Kong style cafe
Had a wonderful dinner with family on a week night. Need to wait 20 minutes for a table. The food came bit late but the service was excellent especially Agnes, who kept us informed & assured of timing. A comfortable experience yet more staff would be appreciated Parking: The plaza there was always busy & need to park far but free.
we ordered the lobster pasta with rose sauce and the indo fried rice. Fired rice is pretty good, chicken was realli juicy and the texture is quite soft. I like it, but the lobster pasta is just okay, the sauce tastes like meet ball sauce. HOWEVER, service is ridiculous. We have to confirm the order more than 3 times with the staff and still sending us a wrong dish and try to blame the customer LOL. Price doesn t match the service and the food .
Based on the price, LC Cafe can be considered a mid-level restaurant. Let s talk about the environment first. Because each table is placed too close to each other, it will collide with the benches at the back. The background music in the restaurant is Jazz, but because the waiter is holding the knife and dish too hard, the collision sound is similar to DJazz. Okay, okay... Let s talk about food D. It can be said that the presentation of all food is 100 points. As for the taste, the shrimp toast is well cooked and has the taste of old Hong Kong; the baked pork chop rice has a good local salty taste on the surface of the pork chop, but the whole pork chop is bland, the fried rice base is too dry and hard, and the tomato sauce is not good Its not enough, but the crispy texture on the surface of the pork chop is good. The lobster buns are two conjoined dinner buns and are too dry and hard. The lobster filling is delicious and chewy. Milk tea (must be served later), so fragrant and smooth!
A bit pricey.
Im low-key conflicted about this restaurant. I feel they put more emphasis on presentation than food quality. I mean theyre using Le Creuset here and their interior design is nice so this is an upscaled HK cafe. That being said, I do want their cups LOL. Anyway, food was definitely a bit on the pricier end which goes with their upscale vibes. I can see others rating this place lower because of that. Food was okay la. The spaghetti didnt come off like its freshly made with good texture. Thats kinda one of the quality we look for. The tuna tartare was bland. They had greens on top, seasoning, and olive oil. However, you usually expect stuff like avocado or other things mixed in. The lobster risotto was good though - bonus points for the bisque pour. Their eisbein with sauerkraut was a bit dry but doable. Unfortunately, uncle and auntie arent about the sauerkraut life though. Seems like there are some European influence on the menu. Im not against that though. Two of our orders came with free drinks so thats a plus! Tl;dr: theres more emphasis on presentation than quality and flavor of food.
A good experience, food service and decoration are all ok.
What a great way to start a Saturday on September 30th. This beautiful LC cafe is at the soft opening stage so only open from 11:30-3:00pm until further notice and close on Tuesday. The ambiance is beautiful, very modern with nice walls. Gold theme with nice tables. Service was nice and friendly. I saw a couple beside me asking for recommendation and the waitress patiently makes some recommendations such as stir fries and baked rices and other popular items. Ive ordered the Spaghetti alle vongole, clams were a good size and good portion. The French lobster bisque with Arborio rice was tasty. Rich but not too salty and a good portion of lobster chucks. The special lemon hot drink was so good that I ordered two and on my second one now as I am typing this review. So soothing for my throat. Perfect for autumn and winter! The LC popsicle comes in HK milk tea or Mango vanilla at $4.99 each were made in house. I love the HK milk tea flavour, so smooth and delicious. I am so glad LC cafe opened and will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.
One of the best in town now. The lobster pasta is the best. I like the truffle scramble egg on rice. Plus the iced milk tea. Love it
Food was burned after over an hour long wait. Services was horrible, because of soft opening, everybody pretty much wait for half an hour for their food but when my food still not here over 30 minutes, I asked the waitress and at that they found out they forgot to put in my order but they didn t put my order into a fast track instead so other people seated half an hour after me got their orders and I still waiting. I will never come again
Lobster rice soup was really delicious. Staff were very friendly. Very unique popsicles and ice cold. The hot grill pork chop and chicken steak was very hot and sizzling. My kids love it Is there any vip cards?
in general, the food quality is good and better than typical HK Style restaurants but it cost more too.. but I do prefer this to pay abit more for quality. Worth mentioning the beef in the fried rice noodles in Swiss sauce dish and the red curry dish, the beef is actually thinly sliced , tender and have beef taste. Typical beef in HK style restaurants are either dry or no beef taste. Thumbs up for the beef from here. But HK milk tea is average not enough tea aroma if they are asking for $4.99 a cup when order separately. the original dish I picked was not available after waitress took my order so I am asked to pick a different dish but the dish took a while to arrive, pretty much arrive until my friends has finished all their food already. It s soft opening so I disregard the long wait or I would give two stars in normal days. Hope they will iron out the bumps. I would visit again when in the area
It took a long time to get the food ready (around 45mins) and saw customers sit next to me left before the food served. We order a steak on iron plate and it is overcooked . The black pepper sauce is plain. The fries under the steak is soggy. I ordered Thai basil and chilies fried rice which is different from the one I had in other thai restaurants... too sour and not really spicy It is expensive too...One platter, One Soup, 2 normal drinks, 2 orders of food. Total of dollars (includes tips and tax) for 2ppls
I have been waiting for this place opening its door since spring and finally I gotta try when they soft open on sep 30th. We ordered lobster bisque, borscht, baked tomato pork chop w/cauliflower rice and deutche crispy pork knuckle. For the starter, lobster bisque was good but borscht was even impressive! I d say it s so condensed tasted even better than hk OG Tai Ping Goon. If it came with a warm small soft dinner roll would perfect it. As for the cauliflower rice option for my baked tomato pork chop, this low carb almost keto version did not disappoint. The freshness of the tomato puree, the right texture of the pork chop plus the cauliflower rice went so well, I wolfed down the whole casserole while waiting for the crispy pork knuckle. When we ordered it, the waitress gave us a friendly reminder that it would take more than 30 mins. By the time it was served, it took more than 30 mins and the gigantic crispy knuckle was literally smoking hot. When I cut it open, I could hear the crackling sound of the crispy skin contrasting the tenderness and juiciness of the meat. The combo of crispy skin, tender meat, sauerkraut and mustard in one bite was so matched and we love it! Lastly, I had the mango vanilla popsicle to wrap the whole meal up. The LC cafe is a rare high quality in TO with a lot of . Highly recommended this place and I will definitely come back for more. Please keep it up. Hope that by the time of grand opening, everything has run smooth and no more unsatisfied customers complaining about waiting for their food. =P
Terrible experience from chef, and service. My dad ordered a pork cutlet dish, the kitchen messed up the order and served chicken, my dad didn t know until he took the first bite and realized it isn t pork. We told the server, she was polite and mentioned she will talk to kitchen and bring us a pork cutlet. After a few minutes, the chef (man in charge) came to talk to us, saying since we have already started eating (not an untouched dish that he can take the whole dish back), nothing much that he can do, as if we are the one to be blamed because we only found out it isn t chicken after we took first bite?
Im disappointed with their red curry. It tastes so wried and beef was a bit over cooked and rough. The portion for curry is way too small compare with served rice.
The lobster bisque has a floral note and is light. The chef may have used a Rose rather than Brandy? The shrimp spaghetti is really good. The sauce is creamy with sun-dried tomatoes. Pork cutlet is really juicy and tastes well. is average, . Lemon tea is very good. They re really generous with 4 slices of lemon. Portions are a good size. Good for sharing. Service is very good. I ll give them a 4.8 star. Please be patient with service. Don t expect quick in and out. Good ambience. Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs available
LC Cafe is a new popular Chinese cafe in Scarborough. It is still in soft opening. We are surprised that we dont have to wait for line up. We ordered one baked chicken with zucchini, and grilled tiger shrimps pasta. Both are very tasty, and Premium quality. Price point is a bit high. The most disappointment is we had to wait 50 mins for our food to come, which is quite unacceptable for a cafe. For food, they are obviously good, but need to work on the improvement of waiting time for the food to come.
I didn t know what to eat at lunch today, so I saw someone recommending their lobster soup Arborio, so I thought about trying it. Unfortunately, it was already sold out when I got there, so the three of us had to order the mushroom soup Arborio and curry Angus. Beef rice, lobster spaghetti, and iced milk tea. Let s talk about wild food first: 1) I like the mushroom soup Arborio a lot. Both the rice and the soup are delicious. The mushroom soup is a sufficient portion, but the portion of the rice is really small. I personally think that the minimum portion should be twice as large as it is for men. It may cost 1.5 times more. (When I ordered it, I asked him about the snacks he ordered. He said that because Arborio is fuller, he is afraid that some people will eat too much. I don t know, but if you can add money, It would be best if you get bigger and get elected) 2) Curry Angus beef rice. I haven t ordered it personally, so I can t comment too much. The portion size is not too big, but it s normal. 3) The portions of the lobster spaghetti are not too big and are normal. The lobster meat is about 1/3 - 1/4 of a lobster. But the taste is really too common. It s not that it s hard to eat, but I really don t know how to make it. If you try the signature meal again, you will definitely not order it again. 4) Iced milk tea, generally good to drink, but I only like it if it has a strong tea flavor. Serve: Basically everything is normal, the staff are very polite, the only problem is the meal time. We serve 3 kinds of dishes, basically we eat the 1st dish before serving the 2nd dish. The problem is that the dish we serve is not a set menu. 1 After one person finished eating, the food he ordered arrived first, and the food of the second person arrived. There was a huge difference in time. (But it is on a trial basis, so it is understandable, but it needs to be improved) environment: Personally, I think the decoration, tableware and furnishings give it a high-end feel, but unfortunately there are too many tables and the space is not enough, but the price is acceptable Price: Mushroom soup Arborio is not expensive, but if the portion size is not too large, it is a bit awkward, and there is no reason to order 2. The lobster spaghetti is too common, so it feels a bit expensive. Iced milk tea only costs CAD 3. , acceptable. At the same time, cash is 12% off, and the average price per person is about CAD25, which is acceptable. Summarize: Overall its OK, but I personally think the price-performance ratio isnt too high. If I go there again, Id probably mainly want to eat their Arborio, but if the portion size doesnt increase, I dont know if Ill order it next time. I might try it next time. When I went to other places, I saw that the baked rice and steak were both OK. But you have to try them first.
Just giving my honest review of the restaurant. The Restaurant looks nice! Its a high end HK cafe, the names on their menu are pretty Wow Curry Beef w/ - taste ok and good portion size
Nice foods and friendly service . Highly recommend!
I realize theyre still new and in soft opening mode so the experience was ok considering how busy they were. I appreciate the nicer decor and dishware (Staub). A more premium feel. But still decent value and quality for the food. I ordered the baked ox tongue with mushroom sauce and substituted for the cauliflower mash. Cauliflower wasnt mash but riced. It was very garlic loaded. Maybe a little too much. It came with 3 very thick slices of tongue. Most Ive seen from any but also more expensive than any other.
Both food and service are really good! Will go back again!
Finally got the chance to try out this new restaurant today (Sat, Sep 30 2023) during its soft opening. It tentatively opens from 11:30 am till 3:00 pm; close on Tuesdays. We placed the order @ 12:40 pm for 2 items - (1) Chicken steak with Tiger Shrimp on iron plate (sizzling hot plate) that comes with my choice of French mushroom sauce, Soup of the Day, Small salad, Fries & hot beverage and (2) The LC Red Curry with Angus Beef & Rice with hot beverage. The hot HK Style milk tea that we chose came fast but the entrée came 45 to 50 minutes after we placed the order. Well... I was okay for waiting for such duration cuz I was not in a rush and theyre still in soft opening phase. Guess thats the reason why the chef/owner couldnt determine the grand opening date yet cuz they cant expedite their orders in a reasonable time with a full house of customers. Talking about the quality of food & taste... The ingredients like beef, tiger shrimp and chicken steak (meat from chicken thigh) were fresh and cooked to perfection. The red curry was hot & spicy but not the kind of hottest. I particularly like the French mushroom sauce cuz its tasty with small slices of mushroom & bacon in it. Surprised to see a big chunk of tomato hidden underneath the big piece of chicken steak. Almost forgot to mention the HK Style Borscht that I chose was rich in flavour with tiny little chunk of beef in it. Im very satisfied with the quality of food & services provided by the staff. Hope that this restaurant can keep up its high standard without compromising its quality of food after its grand opening in the future. Will definitely come back to try out the other delicious food items in the menu; including the milk-tea popsicle as dessert! ***Revisited on Oct 15 (Sun) for lunch*** Food was served within 15 to 20 minutes thats more reasonable now. Keep it up!
Had the pork chop and chicken chop on hot plate. The pork chop was good but the chicken chop was overcooked and very dry. It was on the salty side. Fries were McCain fries and not fresh cut. The black pepper sauce lacked flavour. Their Hong Kong style Russian borscht was good but on the oily side.
Lovely dinning place! Excellent food and great service!! Keep up the great work!! Excellent dinning experience! Thanks to all the staff.
I have been here a few times and every time the food is really consistent and tasty! The staff are very attentive and the owner is really passionate which shines through in his food. The menu is more upscale than the regular HK cafe and for the quality, ~$20 is more than reasonable for every dish. Portion sizes are pretty generous and I often find myself unable to finish so I get to have some nice leftovers afterwards. My personal favourites are the baked pork chop on rice with tomato sauce and the lobster bisque. The owner always makes the effort to engage with customers and is really kind. LC cafe deserves all the business they get and the hype!
Came here for dinner tonight with my parents. It was pretty much a full house and it was nicely modernly decorated! Service was super attentive and we were promptly seated. We ordered lobster bisque, tiger shrimp cream pasta, and steak chow ho fun. The lobster bisque was a bite salty ( commented by my parents as well) however it was nicely presented. They serve the dish with the lobster chunks to ensure you that there is real lobster meat and then they pour the soup on top. It was a little pricey however, at $14 a bowl for little bits of lobster. The shrimp pasta was really good and decent portion size that I couldnt finish but at a staggering cost of $22. My parents comment on the chow ho fun was that it was pretty good ( I didnt try it) and that it had good wok hey lol. Each dish comes with a drink of your choice from what I could tell. Overall food was good. However its quite pricey for a HK cafe.
Went there for dinner with my family. We ordered pork chop chicken on fries. Thai spicy rice The food ok with the price. Fries are costco fries (some are burnt as they are on hot plate), tomato sauce is too sour.Meat is juicy; soft which is the only thing I like. I think it is $25. Ordered cold drink; got charged $3 more. White rice is $5.5 per bowl. ( i thought I heard it wrong but yes, inflation I guess) The thai spicy rice is dry. Taste good; one person portion is $17, add cold drink,$3 more Nice place; modern deco, clean washroom. Total bill is $70. It is a high end hongkong cafe.
The food was a mixed experience: my baked Angus beef rice was good, my husbands Thai minced pork rice was way too spicy and not aromatic. I had the soufflé which was a huge disappointment (it tasted like melted marshmallows, on a slice of bread). Service was ok. The place was crowded and tight.
Went there on Sunday afternoon around 3PM. The food was nice ( we ordered the tiger shrimp pasta with creamy sauce and dried tomato, fired angus beef Ho Fan and HK style shrimp toast, really authentic and my husband even said the Ho Fan is exactly like the one he had in HK. It was pretty amazing!). But here is the reason I only gave 1 star due to the following incident. The waitress in the photo attached below, she was coughing on me without covering her mouth when she gave the menu to us which makes me feel very uncomfortable. Further more she kept touching her hair and face and rubbing her nose while delivering the food to customers. I also observed that she was coughing on other customers as well. This is so gross! Absolut zero tolerance on those critical behaviors especially she is client facing. Other waitress in the restaurant either tied the hair up or simply keep the hair tidy. No one is like this waitress touching hair or rubbing nose whenever she can. This waitress can use hair pin to keep her hair tidy and wear a mask if she knows she would cough randomly. Anything this waitress does is causing health and safety issue because she can easily contaminate the food with harmful bacteria or viruses with lack of self awareness. I suggest the owner of the business better have a chat with this lady and pay attention on those red flags when supervising.
Lobster spaghetti with rosé sauce
Im just here cuz I heard a spoiled little brat from tiktok wanted his meal for free cuz he was tiktok famous
HK Cafes = baked OX tongue and this one did not disappoint! Expensive? Yes Worth it? If you re an OX tongue lover, it s worth it! Thick cut slices - cooked to perfection - like no other HK cafe Both the grilled and baked OX tongue are full of flavour and tender. Must try - their iced HK tea
My first visit to LC Cafe was an interesting experience. Initially, I thought it was a typical Hong Kong style cafe, but to my surprise, it projected itself as an upscale restaurant with refined HK style cafe food. While the price point was on the higher end, I didnt feel that the food quality or service justified the cost. The food was above average for a typical HK style restaurant, but the service was what you would expect from a budget establishment. We ordered the lobster pasta and shrimp pasta, both of which were recommended items, but unfortunately, they tasted exactly the same. Overall, I was pleased with the food, but the price was a bit steep, and we could have gotten similar food for much less elsewhere.
Really enjoyed the meal and the service.
A little bit pricey for this area, but they are doing a great job with the service and the atmosphere! Food is great, service is excellent! Food
I really wanted to like the restaurant as the atmosphere was wonderful, but I just couldn t. Up until placing our order, everything was perfectly fine. Staff were extremely polite and friendly, and the restaurant seemed refined. The owner (I assume he is the owner as he spoke to multiple tables aside from ours) didn t even bother to speak to us after telling us that we would experience an additional 5 minute wait for the lobster bisque dishes we ordered. I expected an apology, but instead he focused on other clients and avoided eye contact with our table. After waiting for over an hour for two dishes (lobster bisque with Arborio rice), the dishes were still missing. We were slightly disappointed albeit understanding as it is their soft opening. The dishes arrived after an hour long wait, the two dishes arrived without the sauce. The first dish received the sauce pretty quick, but the second one took another 5 minute wait while the Arborio rice just sat there. Overall, the food lacked taste and the quality was not there. The server offered to swap one of the lobster bisque dishes out for another dish, and I accepted. However, the owner should have been the one to step up as opposed to his staff. This is poor service at its finest, especially considering his attempt at creating an upscale atmosphere. To summarize, my gripes are with the owner and the food. I have no issue with the staff members, as they are all very accommodating. The food quality was bland and subpar as well for a price tag of $120 after taxes. We will not be dining here again due to the unprofessionalism showcased by the owner.
Came for the first time and was very impressed with the service and food quality. Photos have been attached in this review, because of the extra rice portion, the ox tongue rice would have looked much more presentable with circular shape but I honestly do not mind (to me that already looks super mouth watering). The owner is modest and down to earth which has made our visit very enjoyable. Hands down one of the best first impression from a restaurant. Servers are all very nice and approachable. Milk tea was bang on - silky with great tea taste without excessive bitterness. Despite knowing that I wouldnt be able to sleep tonight with the caffein rush, its totally worth it. The gravy on the ox tongue rice was not some random brown sticky sauce that you get from average chinese restaurant. There is fullness, brothy taste to the sauce. Lobster arborio was equally great with lobsterful taste in the sauce - it was a full-on lobster soup right there. The lobster meat was fresh and it just mingled very well with all other ingredients on the plate. Recommended and definitely coming back again.
Crowded and tables are right next to each other, you can literally touch the next table. Food is good but pricey considering in Scarborough. They use Staub and LeCreuset to serve meals, really impressed about that. Service is very good, all Cantonese speaking, they are friendly, attentive and fast Parking is always a problem in that plaza
Congratulations to the newly opened Nice restaurant in Scarborough. Food is yummy, There is a special high tea Time from 3- 5 pm. The shrimp Toast Must order , shrimp taste is delicious and not Oily, fast service, though it is pretty full. There are lots of choices u can choose. For sure, we will come back often.
Living in this part of town forever, I always want to support the area businesses so I really wanted my visit to be good. However at the end, it was unfortunately disappointing. From my standpoint, the challenges they need to review given they may still be in their soft opening stage: 1. Hot HK milk tea and yuan yang - not enough tea taste, evaporated milk overpowered the tea 2. Better planning for a tables order i.e. in my instance: ox tongue rice arrived first, 5-10 min later beef ho fun noodle arrived, waited another 10-15 min but the lobster roll with fries never arrived and we just cancelled it. As we wait until all dishes arrive before eating, the meals that had already been placed on the table became cold. When we requested to cancel the lobster roll, someone came to explain that since we came in close to the opening of the restaurants day, some dishes would come out slower (shoulder shrug). 3. Food taste - very okay level of taste. Only area of improvement from my tables two dishes was that the ho fun was a bit too oily. I wont give this place a repeat visit given my experience but I do hope they consider fixing a few things to improve their guest experience as they move forward.
Very good foods with exceptional good service. Ivonne and Mandy served our table of 11 people. It is one of the best newly opened modern cha chan teng in Toronto. The portion of the dishes is comparatively small. If you re looking for quantity vs quality, you d better go to somewhere else. Good job!
Delicious and large portions with their baked rice, service was good and fast
Seating feels tight and cramped for the atmosphere that theyre going for. The price point and presentation of food is higher, but its cramped. Groups of 2 or 4 are ideal. The food was good. Presentation was pretty. They do have a noon tea 3 to 5pm menu with mini versions of their main menu. Most items come with hot drink, +2$ for cold, + 3$ for specialty (hk milk tea is a special item) Would come back to try some other dishes.
Really impressed with this new HK cafe. Decor is retro ish everything matches. They put a lot of thought into the visual. Of course the food is also very good. I will definitely be back. We ordered the Lobster spaghetti, ox tongue with spaghetti and chicken knuckles. I was slightly disappointed with the chicken knuckles, they forgot to season the dish when they served it and also, imo it could have used more frying time. It wasn t crispy enough. But overall, I still give this place a 5 star.
I went last Sunday at 3pm and to my surprise they offer afternoon tea menu , so we ordered different dish, shrimp toast, pork chop rice, include drink , beef tongue noodle, stir fry beef noodle , this is a upscale place for Hong Kong style cooking
The lobster bisque with rice can use some cheese and a little more taste, the lobster pasta was much better. The rose sauce was tasteful. Overall most food was on the expensive side.
Basic service, food tastes terrible, worse than fast food with ridiculously undeserving prices.
Typical Hong Kong style cafés and foods are very fresh and tasty, and the price is on the high side.
Its a bit of an upscale Hong Kong style cafe. The food is decent. Servers are friendly. Since its a more upscale cafe, the price is more expensive than the usual Hong Kong style restaurants in Scarborough.
Had the opportunity to visit LC Cafe on a Saturday afternoon, the place was absolutely packed, but we were seated very quickly. The interior is nicely decorated, but with a lot of seating and tables placed together it can feel cramped. Also when we went, it was really chilly inside, perhaps the heating wasnt working? Service was friendly and attentive as far as HK cafes go. The menu consists of a variety of HK cafe and Western-inspired dishes. Pricing is definitely much higher compared to other HK cafes. We ordered a tomato sauce pork baked rice as well as the tiger shrimp with spaghetti. Both of them were very delicious and well-made, the quality and portions are definitely high. The HK milk tea was a bit on the watery side. Overall, I enjoyed my visit, but Im not sure Id readily come back. The premium price point is definitely reflected in the quality of the dishes, but for me, I dont know if I can justify paying $5 more for the same dish compared to competitors, especially since the seating was so cramped. If the price reflected a more premium seating/table experience too, that would be nice.
HK diner but with fancy dishes. Great customer service, but my tartare took maybe half an hour to get to me (I suppose thats fair). Its a little cramped but the decor is stylish.
Lobster spaghetti The sauce that comes with the beef tongue rice is mushroom juice, which doesn t feel too spicy. Baked pork chop, a pig with some toughness
Another new HK style high quality food and service restaurant. I just hope they offer liquor & wine to pair with the dishes. Seating space is a bit tight otherwise overall great experience for first time here. Will come back again.
Ordered two baked rice, both of them are lukewarm, it should sizzling hot. Tea is only warm, not impressed. Also, mixed the order with other table
Service was courteous and prompt, food was good and served quickly. Went for lunch, will definitely return for dinner. Restaurant was very clean and modern.
Good Food
First time trying this restaurant! Good quality food and tasty! The food and drinks presented very nicely! The staff provided excellent services and friendly!!
My friend took me to this new HK style cafe this week. Food quality is average, service is great, food display is impressive. I believe the chef had worked previously with some top western restaurant. I ordered lobster bisque risotto, shrimp toast n clams. The clams n shrimp toast were delicious. The risotto is lack of lobster flavor. However, their desserts look amazing, their coffee was good too. I would try it next time. The restaurant was small capacity n very crowded. Not suitable for a big group chatting. Small party of 2-4 may easier to get a table. Parking is an issue, very crowded during lunch hour. I parked somewhere else n walked back to the restaurant. Parking: Its impossible to park during lunch HR, I parked somewhere else n walked down to the restaurant
The service was the same as usual. I had to make a barbecued pork with smooth egg and tiger prawn rice. The smooth egg with barbecued pork was like an omelette. It was not slippery. The dried tiger shrimp was pan-fried.
A restaurant cafe with a refreshing Asian/Western fusion food. Prices are decent enough and food is tasty and presented well to serve. However, the sitting area is rather packed and not well-spaced to consider for Covid enviroment. The tables/seats along the corridor could be less in number to allow for this. After all, restaurants are usually only crowded during lunch and dinner hours. I tried their meal during the afternoon tea hour. They accept only debit or cash. It took 25 minutes to prepare the food as adviced. The complimentary HK milk tea was lukewarm. I asked it to be microwaved heated, but they advice that it would spoil the taste but suggested replacing a new cup, which I did not take up the offer. Then, the Fried chicken legs with potato salad ($12.99) was a disappointment as well - the green salad was without dressing and the potato is cold served with a tasteless creamy sauce. The chicken leg was at best insufficiently marinated with salt and pepper. Today, decided to try their Western eat of French Lobster Bisque Soup ($13.99). Taste like lobster bisque you could get from M&M stores. Just added with 4 droplet-size cut lobster meat. Then, there is also the Deep Fried Shrimp Cake ($11.99). Much like what you get from Dim Sum restaurants and filled with paste than shrimps. Tasteless without the tartar sauce. Mr Congee served better and tastier Fried Wantons filled with 100% shrimps (4pcs) for only $5.00. I guess this is my final review for this LC Cafe. Enjoy if you dont mind the pricey and tasteless dishes on the menu.
Very impressed with the quality of the food. Great service! Clean and good atmosphere. We will be back :)
German Salted Pork Knuckle $36.99 It is similar to Hong Kong-style roast pork. The pork skin is crispy but salty, but the meat on the inside is tasteless, and the overall lack of sauce makes it dry. Borscht $8.99 The color is dark and salty, but the ingredients are good, including two pieces of beef. The beef teppanyaki meal has a soft texture, and it feels like there is a lot of loose meat powder in it. The service is okay, but there is room for improvement. The waiter did not take the initiative to add water, put away the dishes, or add paper towels. He only came after being asked.
Big portions, really good quality and tasty food. Pricing is higher than average but quality is up there.
It s our first time visiting on Sunday evening at 6p. The flavors of the food was good but the temperatures of all the food seems a bit off to the cold side. It s especially noticeable since we d ordered a hot iron plate and a baked rice expecting both to be piping hot as usual with HK cafe style food. Shrimp toast - taste was good, fresh ingredients but the breading was a bit oily, not light and fluffy, again seem to me that the oil temperature is not right. Hot iron plate with chicken and pork with black pepper sauce - It came with soup and salad, I had the Borscht soup, it was really good, salad was nothing special. The hot plate taste was good but was expecting it to come sizzling hot, when the server poured the sauce over the hot plate when it came out, there s hardly any sizzling and as we started eating, the food cooled very quickly. Not much different than it being served on a regular plate. Baked rice with curry ox tongue - the taste was 5 stars, the fried rice based was done well but everything was just warm not hot at all. They served the dish in a stub but it s hardly hot when the food came out. Milk tea tasted good, an average milk tea with a good balance of milk and tea taste. Overall ambience and service was good, a pleasant experience only wished the food was more hot. I plan to bring my parents for a visit sometime soon as they also like HK cafe food. Hopefully, they can address the temperature issue next time we visit.
If you like drinking tea from the bag come to LC cafe. Waitress there dont know how to package a simple take out drink. Paid premium for poor service.
I saw that they put great care into preparing their food, not like we eat junk. I am a family of 5, and everyone liked it after they finished eating! I will try the pork knuckle next time!
Honestly, I am disappointed with this visit. Perhaps my expectation was a bit too much when this restaurant was recommended by my friend. The only thing I noticed the difference is their price, which is 20% higher in general. The spaghetti with shrimp was pretty good in general, but nothing is special. The pork is too hard or over-cooked. The ice Hong Kong style milk tea was really a milk tea as it was too milky but couldnt actually taste the tea. But the way they present the ice tea was really attractive. For the price of it, I could get a better quality of dishes. Sorry, I cant recommend it.
