Aloette — which opened in 2017 at the corner of Queen Street and Spadina Avenue — is the Michelin recommended neighbourhood bistro as imagined by the Alo Food Group. It's where our taste for haute cuisine meets cravings for cheeseburgers and lemon meringue pie. Aloette is open daily for dinner, lunch on Fridays, and brunch on weekends. Walk-ins are encouraged.
Here with my son for happy hour. How can u not give a 5 star?! Excellent service especially with explaining the menu. The cocktails were fantastic. The alouette wedge salad, by far, is the best salad I've ever had. The stuffed olives also didn't disappoint and the fried chicken was simply amazing. Portions were excellent.
Great experience. We walked there around 9pm on Thursday night and they served us until 11pm, which was perfect. Service was great, loved our waitress and food was delicious. I had the octopus carpaccio and the butternut squash dish. Both unique and tasty.
Exceptional customer service, nice and cozy atmosphere, and dam their fries and burger are goooddd. The pie is sweet and should be shared amongst a few people. There are not too many seats so would recommend making a reservation.
The food is very unique and flavorful. It is definitely a perfect date night restaurant. The Aloette burger is a must 8/10. The fried chicken has that sweet and savory flavor from yuzu. It’s a hit or miss depending on your taste bud. I have heard a lot about their lemon meringue pie. I love it but my bf isn't a big fan. I like the sour taste and the lemon flavour so 8/10 for me.
Lives up to the reputation 100%! Haters can hate all they want, but we choose to LOVE this place! FOOD: We came here for a late night dinner and really enjoyed the food! Staring of course with the steak that was done medium rare to perfection—soft, juicy, flavourful! My parter had a burger and said this was the best burger ever and we need to return. Though done with the meal, we decided to eat the carrot cake and my goodness, this was a true carrot cake—not processed, but fully delicious! SERVICE The service was exceptional once they came, however it did take a moment. I think they may have been understaffed that day. ATMO The atmosphere is not bad, but the music was a bit loud. The food definitely made this place special!
With its one-Michelin star sister restaurant Alo on the second floor, Aloette has a lot to live up to - and it does, staying grounded (pun intended) with a menu that features upscaled bistro classics. When I first walked in, I was surprised by the small size of the restaurant. While the bar-and-booth layout looks cramped at first, it's relatively spacious when you are seated. We started off with the beef tartare & grilled sourdough. The tartare was savoury and tangy and the beef wonderfully tender. It also came with the complimentary to-start potato cheddar bun, which was amazing - but fair warning that a second is $6. 😬 For mains, we got the wagyu truffle burger and Aloette fried chicken. Taste-wise, the burger was good. The patty was juicy, cooked to a beautiful medium rare, and stood up to the flavourful truffle gruyere. However, I wouldn't know it was wagyu if it wasn't in the name. It was also awkward to eat as the bottom was very soft from the burger sitting in the truffle jus. Even using a fork and knife (which I think is what it's meant to be eaten with), it was quite difficult to cut into bites without the whole burger collapsing. Bonus points for the pickle on the side - my friend said it was the best pickle he's ever eaten. The Aloette fried chicken is a must-order - incredibly crispy and juicy, with an great balance of flavour from the seasoning and yuzu honey, with or without the hot sauce. Additionally, you can wrap it in the lettuce, pickled radish, and cucumber they provide on the side. We also ordered a side of the potato tots. Made with a latke-like center, these were seasoned well with a super crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Don't forget to dip them in the provided Aloette (bloody mary and aged cheddar) aioli, which was packed with flavour - it was so good, I would buy a bottle if they sold it! All in all, Aloette is the perfect choice for a nice night out with friends. Note: If you want to take good photos, don't go at sunset like we did - the dim lighting and sunlight through the windows make for some difficult shots 😅
After being on our list for a long time, we finally came to Aloette for brunch, as a party of four with a reservation. Overall, we had a good experience but we left with mixed feelings… The food was very tasty but, the menu was presented as “shareable” yet several items were actually too small to be shared and there weren’t many “regular” portions. In addition to that, most items didn’t include sides, besides bread toasts. So, if you wanted a substantial meal, you had to order more. Nothing wrong with that but, it was already a little pricey. The staff was very friendly and diligent, even though the service had a couple of hiccups. The atmosphere inside was cozy and warm so we still enjoyed our time in the restaurant.
Had brunch here on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm. It was pretty easy getting a table for four. The interior is intimate, but feels appropriately sized. The finishes and decor looked elegant but comfortable. With the music, it was a nice weekend vibe. I had the chicken and waffle. The waffle texture is alright. Personally, I like my waffle to have a nice crust to it but somewhat fluffy in the middle. This was more on the crunchy brittle side so it kinda crumbles when you bite into it. The chicken was flavourful and don’t remember it being dry. The syrup was great, but it would’ve been nice if the container they had them in was filled with more. It wasn’t enough to get a good amount of syrup throughout the dish. It was savoury and not too sweet. I’d come back to try their other dishes. I had a good experience overall.
I doubt how this restaurant got Michelin star. I am writing to Michelin seperately to review this. The food is average. Worst was after 1 hout in restaurant (we had reserved table 2 weeks in advance) our server asked us to hurry up as next reservation is on way (before this we were indirectly pressurized to hurry up by server coming couple of times asking if we were done) . The reservation never mentioned anything of 1 hr time slot to finish your meal. Our total bill for 2 was approx 200 dollars so we were definitely not cheap clients who were wasting table space. Really disappointing service and attitude which spoiled the whole mood and conversation Drinks were also disappointing. Old fashioned was served with multiple ice cubes. Which Michelin star does that ? Shows the place has no class in service or food. Looking at 5 star reviews here seems current crisis in country and oligopolies have had folks started accepting low mediocrity as great EDIT: The restaurant mentions traffic added to stress. I am not sure what traffic are they referring to. The only stress we had was server coming every couple of mins checking if we were done and telling us we need to hurry up as next guest in on way. This was after 1.5 hrs at restaurant which is pretty normal if u go out for a brunch on weekend for some important business discussions. Also to reiterate our reservation mentioned nothing on time limit
Maybe a bad day or did I go to the same restaurant as all these 5 stars ? Burger was small and like a slider and not much on it or taste - not worth $22. The fried chicken was bland & really you could get better fry chicken elsewhere but not for the $34. The triple fries was like McCain fries - I was shocked and so was my guest as she ate there before. The service & staff were 10/10 and awesome. The space was super tight and so were those tables for tall and big people. Im sure there is more to this place but it was a miss for sure.
Had a lovely time here with a business colleague. Although some of the plates are small, Aloette is not pretentious, instead it delivers in meaningful ways (1) incredible menu for clean drinks and fresh food (2) great environment with sweet tunes and warm vibe (3) amazing people Kabriel was so friendly, authentic, and attentive. Love it!
The cocktails were excellent, and the service was commendable. The food was enjoyable overall, with the exception of the fries, which were excessively salty perhaps the kitchen mistakenly added salt multiple times, rendering them inedible. We brought this to their attention, and they promptly removed the charge from our bill, which we greatly appreciated. The mini martini accompanied by fresh oysters was delightful, beautifully presented. The decor and ambiance were impressive; however, the music was somewhat too loud, and the choice of rap did not align with the overall atmosphere/decor of the establishment. I would certainly return, as I am eager to try the fried chicken. Our meal included oysters, a wedge salad, shrimp and grits, rib steak, and we shared both the carrot cake and lemon meringue pie, which were exceptional. The wine selection was also noteworthy, particularly the Pearl Morrisette Pinot Noir, which was outstanding.
The food is delicious (the butternut squash is unbelievable), the service was amazing, quick, and attentive, and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night. Definitely recommend!
Consistently excellent. Appropriate service. Highly recommended.
Stopped in for a drink, having just eaten elsewhere, but the menu looks fantastic. Looking forward to returning for a meal. My wife and I have a combined 35 years in the industry, and it was clear to us that this place runs very efficiently and very professionally. Hannah was a delight.
Ordered several dishes, loved everything!
Not too many vegetarian vegetarian options unless you re ok with just salad but accordingly to my friend the burger was good. Service was amazing, very professional and welcoming attitude, well done specially since you barely get anymore good service around the city. The main reason of my 3 start is the loudness, the space is small and very very loud. The acoustic system and the arch ceiling seems to be echoing the conversation so when you re sitting at the bar you just hear everyone and have to shout to have conversation. It just made the experience uncomfortable.
Excellent staff! Our server was amazing! I believe her name was Kabriel? The name was on the bill. One of the most attentive servers I have ever had. All the employees work hard to ensure the guests are taken care of. The food was delicious and the presentation was excellent.
Weird
Look no further if you want to eat in one of the best chic restaurants in Toronto. Great staff and service, only eclipsed by the truly incredible dishes. The lemon meringue was even better than the photos! Thanks Aloette Restaurant for finding us a place at the bar, you made our trip.
An upscale French bistro brought into a cozy diner-inspired setting.
This diner-esque looking restaurant treats everything as if its a fine dining experience. I highly recommend you get a reservation because seating can be quite limited. The atmosphere of this place was perfect. Classic hip-hop playing while the servers engage in friendly conversation. Im not the biggest connoisseur of alcohol but my cocktail was a perfect blend that didnt taste overpowering. They highly recommend sharing plates and youre given plenty of food. We got the yuzu chicken with bibb lettuce, roasted cauliflower with truffle, shrimp and grits, and french fries with an aioli. Every dish was a 10/10. The fries were just fries but the aioli was addicting. The yuzu chicken with the bibb lettuce, sliced yuzu, and pickles was perfect. I dont typically enjoy shrimp and grits and that was also scrumptious. This was a perfect dining experience and if you can afford it id highly recommend their fine dining sister restaurant. This is a must see go in Toronto
It was OK but we felt this was overpriced for what the food was, and it was uncomfortable sitting at the bar. Signature burger took a long time to come out, and we felt it was not very memorable at all (both of us agreed that the burger we had at a local snack bar in Niagara Falls was way tastier), such that we could not understand the hype/ other reviews? The bun was not even warm. There was a long hair in my burger which I pushed aside on my plate (I still ate the burger as I was over the meal and hungry and just wanted to leave). The rest of the patrons appeared to be enjoying themselves, and it is obviously a very popular venue so maybe judge for yourselves. But do get a booth/ table.
Same classic dishes(tartare, squash, foie gras). Burger and the scallops are a bit too salty
Been going over the years. Never fails to impress me. From the venue, music, service and of course food. Remains my favourite restaurant in Toronto. Brilliant.
We have visited Aloette in 2018 and the food was fantastic. We were so excited to come back to this gem. What an unexpected experience. Apthough the staff was lovely and the service was fast and easy, the food was underwhelming to say at least. The only thing we enjoyed was the cheese bread. The salmon was super salty. The lettuce dressing smelled like it stayed in the fridge for a week. Even the fries were bad. The hamachi with ham was the weirdest combination possible. The octopus was so thin you could see through it. For $28 that was insane. The portions were very small. We left hungry with a $200 plus bill. This is my review from 2018: We are ao happy we discovered this little sister of Alo. Everything was fantastic - the food, the drinks, the service. We stayed in Toronto for four days and had to eat there twice. It was so good! Gorgeous interior! We can only imagine what they serve at Alo.
Food was very good and the atmosphere is like an elevated diner! Went for my birthday and was disappointed that I wasnt offered a birthday treat.
Modern diner style restaurant. Food tastes so good and staffs serviced us well. Will return if I have a chance.
Everything was on point! Those olives were a killer bite. The octopus melts in the mouth. Beef tartare was tender for its uniqueness. Lamb was killer. Fries stayed crispy till the end. But that Butternut squash was hella good. Service was awesome. And the manager did a great job.
Always a great meal. Cozy place to talk.
Recommend the short rib! The Chicken Frie Maitaike mushroom was alright. Cavatelli was good but its probably priced too high for just pasta in my opinion. Service is top notch. No wonder this place is one of the highest rated restaurants around. Hope to try all of their menu items! I had no luck making reservation online for the weekend but went to the resto and checked with the hostess/manager and got a reservation on sunday at the bar table. Might be worth a try to just walk in?
Food, service, ambience were all 5/5. Staff was super friendly, great experience.
We got the octopus carpaccio, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken. All were fantastic.
The dishes are exquisite and varied. It is a rare Canadian dish. My friend thought it was too salty, but I am used to European tastes and do not find it particularly salty. It goes well with some local craft beer. The oysters may not be in season, so they are a bit thin and have no taste, which is quite disappointing.
Nice place, good service, the burger didn t really do it for me. I guess having to eat a burger with a knife and fork wasn t my thing but also the taste wasn t there either. The foie gras thing was tasty tho
Nothing special, I had higher expectations. Burger was not even among top 3 of the best ones I have ever had.
Excellent service food and drinks. I risky recommend
Some say it s the best burger in town I haven t ate every burger in town, but this one is pretty darn good. Food : 5/5
Delicious in every sense
A very cute, cleverly designed restaurant maximizing a tiny space. Genuine, thoughtful service. The burger, complimentary bread, and lemon meringue pie are worth the visit alone. They are all so, so good. My partner loved the lamb skewer but I thought it was too pricey for what you get. Steak tartare was good. I d say skip the foie gras and French fries, neither of which are anything special. I would definitely go back and try the wedge salad next time.
Amazing service!
Small place and food was interesting and good. A little bit pricey for the food portion. Had the prime beef, fried chicken (recommended) and salmon tartare (recommended).
Recommendation from my son, very good place for friends or family. Very good service, fast and friendly. Very good cocktails and excellent food
A cozy place with a lovely vibe servicing simple but at the same time extraordinary gastronomic delights.
Didn t understand the hype with this place. Hamachi crudo was lacking in acidity and tasted of oil. The heirloom tomato salad they had as a special was lacking salt. The Alloete burger was the star and no complaints there. Made the visit worthwhile. Service was very slow and disappointing. Food
Oh my we were so pleasantly surprised with our order! The tots were really excellent, same with the fried chicken, house burger, and lemon meringue!
Outstanding burger!
I ve been here multiple times and I ve never had a bad experience. The food is always so delicious and flavourful. They have amazing classics (like the burger), but I always enjoy the seasonal menu additions as well! The staff are professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend for a nice dinner out.
AVOID!! SO many other restaurants in Toronto, why this one..?Service started off terrible. It was my partners birthday and I wanted to let the resto know during the booking but they never bothered to listen. I called on Saturday noon, to update my booking for 9pm same day. The hostess picked up and immediately was like I CANT HEAR YOU!! But she still managed to hear that I wanted to update my reso to 9pm. I said I ll call her back right away as I fix my network, she said ok fine. I called back within 10 seconds and no pick up. I tried calling back again and again for the next hour trying to let them know this is a special occasion for my partners bday. No more pick up - So I gave up. Plenty of other restos in Toronto, this one is a joke when it comes to customer service for a high end resto..
We went there without any reservations, and luckily we were able to find a table. The restaurant is small and narrow. It was pretty crowded around 2 pm. The service was great. Servers are attentive. Our server, Michelle, is knowledgeable about the menu. The portion of the food was quite small for its price. But we would go back to try their signature cocktails. :)
10/10
Lee was awesome, we were seated outside and it was a little chillier than we thought. We asked to sit inside but unfortunately they didnt have space. But Lee was gracious and accommodating regardless of this. The food was great! The Aloette burger was far better than the more expensive Wagyu truffle burger, save yourself some money!
Went here in on July 17 for my sisters birthday, there was no celebration or cake. Also the quantity/quality of dishes especially the meat ones has gone down over time, food was quite salty. I have been here 3/4 times over past couple of years and have also been to the restaurant upstairs Alo. Service is also not as great and pristine as it used to be, water refill had to be requested.
Why do you have a window to the dirty dishes in the back in front of the bar? All i smelled was clorine while dining. Unpleasent. Food was not good as their burger was salter than my sweat. Beef Taretare was one of the worst I had. Service was very out of whack. We waited 15 minutes for a simple burger. Yet the people who came after us had their burgers. The lemon pie they are famous for is basically the same filling from a Chinese lemon bao you can get for a buck. Save your money and trip here. Overall, this experience was really bad. I would not recommend it at all. McDonalds is better.
Everything was fine until I found a long hair in my fries, which changed everything. Considering their level of professionalism and attention to details I wasn t expecting to deal with this type of situation there. They took care of the dish which was nice, but I feel the whole experience wasn t that great at the end.
PERFECT!!
So wonderful to see this place after a long time. Lovely to see a new generation of young hospitality workers doing things right. I finished my hospitality shift early and chose to treat myself to a steak on my way home. It ended up being one of those special solo dining experiences. Steak was wonderful and the frites were unreal. Had to try both desserts, just perfect. Chocolate Peanut Butter Sundae was stellar. The wait staff are very young but very old school which has been missing from Toronto for awhile. They were on top of basic water service and touched the table just the right amount of times. Andrew was awesome, shoutouts to your team!
Excellent food and service ! You should DEFINITELY DEFINITELY DEFINITELY order the WAGYU TRUFFLE BURGER Food
Incredible food. Experienced combinations of flavors I ve never felt. Went again: was extremely mid
The Aloette burger definitely hits the spot, I would recommend.
What a great experience we had with our two children aged 13 and 18 to mark the oldest s birthday! We chose several dishes to share, in discovery mode, letting ourselves be guided by the wise advice of the passionate waiter. Everyone enjoyed it, even the youngest who was more skeptical about the portions (of course, he was more charmed by the fried chicken!) but the gastronomic combination was perfect! Thank you for this delicious visit which ended with the tasty chocolate-peanut butter sundae
The restaurant is really small. They try to pack the diner to its full capacity and there was very little room to sit comfortably. The bar stools were uncomfortable and the person sitting next to me kept brushing elbows against me because of the lack of space. They literally mean it when they say its the size of a bus. For all of this trouble, one would hope that the food is unbelievably good but its not. Its decent but does not surprise. lettuce head with puffed rice and nuts was 18 CAD and was quite basic. I will say that the focus is on neat presentation of the food but everything else is a let down for a michelin star restaurant. We tried the olive skewers, the lettuce head with puffed rice, asparagus tempura, lamb skewers with some sort of eggplant puree. Jasmine sparkling tea and yuzu.
It was amazing
Great service from Andrew and Kelly, the hostess was super accommodating when we called earlier in the day to reserve a table for 3 adults and 2 children. We tend to take our younglings in all our culinary adventures. The Iceberg Lettuce Appetizer was amazing, Octopus Carpaccio looked sumptuous (but had to skip on it as one of of our guest was not keen on raw or cured seafood). The lamb skewer, both Aloette and Truffle burger was worthy of the Michelin Star. We also had Aloette fried chicken. To finish it off we had Lemon Meringue Pie. The chicken, beef and lamb is certified halal for any Muslims curious. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: They have few options Dietary restrictions: Has Halal options, would accommodate requests Kid-friendliness: Not designed for kids but they accommodate children. It is a cozy space so no room for high chairs.
Great place to sit and dine casually. Great food and great service. I highly recommend. Food : 5/5
The interior of the restaurant is very nice and has a great vibe, perfect for a night out. The appetizers were delicious and promising. Unfortunately, the main courses arrived cold, and the quality of the food was not up to our expectations. I hope they can improve in the future.
Always a pleasure coming here after work for a bite. Their Hamachi Crudo and Beef Tartare Crostini to start are refreshing and light to snack on with a group of four. We shared their staple Aloette Burger, Asian inspired Aloette Fried Chicken, Grilled Short Rib and Ricotta Agnolotti. The burger was juicy and didnt feel heavy; fried chicken had a nice tartness from the yuzu honey with a nice kick of acidity and heat from the takuan and sauce; short ribs were nice and smoky with that nice numbing tang from the gochujang rub, add the mushrooms and flakes for that umami profile; seafood agnolotti was the highlight for the mains as it had this nice balance of brine and butter, the cheese mellowed everything out creating a nice harmony to enhance the mussels and clams. Ended the meal with some Lemon Meringue Pie, another staple and a must try. Theyve been pretty consistent over the years and it hasnt disappointed our group yet. Service was amazing and attentive as they touched our tables many times to follow up on our guests experience. Recommended.
You have to try the iceberg salad, the foie parfait and the sundae foie gras. Its all amazing!
Absolutely stunning place to go for fine dining. The place is small but lovely atmosphere. I went for lunch here . Every dishes is crafted perfectly with perfect portion size for reasonable price. The service was also amazing and managed very well. Vegetarian options: Veg menu available Parking: difficult to find parking as streets are narrow and crowded Wheelchair accessibility: This is on first floor so wheelchair accessible
Everything I ordered was tasty and delicious. My cocktail was amazing Also I highly recommend the oysters Food : 5/5
The Aloette burger is famous in Toronto, and I can see why. The griddled cheese is amazing, and the triple-fried fries are the perfect side. I highly recommend getting the tots as well, as they are potato pavé style. The service is excellent, and they were very accommodating to our larger-than-usual group. Highly recommend this place.
The downstairs diner of the Michelin Star restaurant ALO does not disappoint! Bustles yet is small and intimate. The service in this restaurant is quick and efficient and our server was attentive and gracious. After being seated he offered his recommendations which included the Iceberg Wedge, Burger and Lemon Pie as these are originals . We accepted his recommendations. Accompanying our first courses we chose the ALO Pinot Noir Rosè, a perfect pairing. The complimentary cheese brioche and compound butter was perfection. The wedge salad is dressed with a tangy and creamy dressing, the puffed wild rice provides a delightful contrasting crunch. Along with the salad, we enjoyed the Foie Gras Parfait. I have to admit that this was the best version I ve ever had, creamy, flavourful, and texturally perfect. The expectations of the burger did not disappoint either, as the grilled Beaufort cheese elevated this seemingly humble classic. The prices are very reasonable at Aloette and the experience is so worth it! Kudos to our server who, along with the food made our time memorable. I will be back to this exceptional restaurant. Oh! Next time we will get the lemon merengue too full this time around. Strongly recommended.
Good music, great food and amazing people! A lovely home away from home!
I had one of the best burgers Ive ever had here. The dish presentation was outstanding, and the staff were incredibly attentive, providing excellent service. Highly recommend!
Loved it! It s on the Michelin recommendation list for a reason! It s a small place but run very efficiently. We were seated at the bar and our host was attentive and warm. We ordered the iceberg wedge salad, tempura asparagus and Alotte fried chicken. But we changed the fried chicken to Shrimp and grits after 5 minutes and they were able to accommodate it. They also have a potato bread with a house mousse as a compliment side. Loved the flavor profile on all the dishes. I think their iceberg wedges salad is famous and for a reason! I would totally recommend this place but go with a reservation. We went there without one but they were able to accommodate us luckily at the bar. Also I guess the menu changes from time to time and my friend had tiger shrimps last July which was not on the menu today. Vegetarian options: There are veg options on the mains but the server can give you options that you can choose from.
My partner and I went back to Aloette for our first time in five years. Our first time going was amazing, the food was outstanding, service fantastic and we had recommended to everyone we knew. Our experience going five years later was the exact opposite. In typical Aloette fashion they let us know that we order everything up front and that they would ensure they brought everything out so that it was fresh. Instead we received majority of our meal all at one time, and unfortunately were left with most of it cold. The worst part of our meal was the fried chicken. It was bland and served with a sauce on the side that resembled bottled Piri Piri. Not only did they fail to elevate it but it was equivalent of ordering fried chicken from a sketchy Chinese restaurant on Uber eats that s an hour away. My partner and I both got sick and had to cancel our plans for the rest of the night. For any restaurant I would ve been dissatisfied, but for a restaurant like Aloette I m just defeated. For the money we paid, it was no way for us to celebrate our five year anniversary.
Fries were good, burger was small. Four pieces of small oysters. I guess upscale diner means portions are small. Not worth the price.
Tried take-out twice but both experiences are disappointed. Burger was very salty (can t have more than 3 bites) even though it s good quality meat. As a $22 burger in high-end restaurant, the food tasting quality should be consistant.
Amazing. That is the only word I can use to describe this place. The taste of the food was spot on. I got the beef tartare, hamachi crudo, and the lamb skewer. The lamb skewer with the eggplant is one of the best bites Ive had in a long time. And you have to eat their bread. Normally I dont eat the bread since it tends to be a filler, but this one is a game changer. Very light and buttery inside with a croissant outer texture. Simple perfection!
The Hamachi crudo with iberico ham was gorgeous, never had a combo like that before. The wagyu burger was good but the cheese didnt really do anything for me. It was rubbery and bland, and didnt add anything to the burger. The jus and truffle though, my goodness they were intense. I actually would have liked more jus like the way they do it at Petit Trois and Foie Gwa. The fries were very salty, as they should be. Be prepared to spend lots of money here. This meal after tip was right at $100
Food was amazing, super flavourful and delicious. I especially enjoyed the Hamachi. Service was very good as was atmosphere.

Took an hour for the food to come. But wow was it worth the wait. Delicious
Definitely
Wow, wow, wow! Everything tasted so good, you cant go wrong with any of the dishes. The service was exceptional, always there when you need but not overbearing, and very friendly - would highly recommend!
Great food; I had an Aloette burger, which was one of the best burgers I have ever had, with a wonderful cheese.
Excellent!
While the food tasted okay, the hostess here really needs to stop profiling customers. expect some cold attitudes and intrusive comments as appetizers.
Never disappoints! Love the food and creative cocktails here, the aloette burger and fries are staples and can t be missed!
The beef tartare and wagyu burger were WOW. Very good service too. You wont regret me!
Very disappointing. We are visiting from UAE and heard great things. Condescending behavior from the person who greeted us Patio is just next to a busy street with a speaker next to our heads Main course came for me - shrimp and grits - I had one bite and it was repulsive - no one came to ask if everything was alright nor acknowledged that it was a full plate when they cleared. Not worth the 750$ we paid. Service in Toronto is abysmal since covid yet tip expectations have skyrocketed. So wild.
What a lovely experience we had for dinner. It started when we were greeted warmly by Amanda, the restaurant manager, whose genuine enthusiasm for hospitality set a welcoming tone. The interior strikes a balance between modern chic and cozy intimacy, with soft lighting and stylish decor creating an inviting atmosphere. Throughout our meal, Amanda ensured impeccable service, attentively catering to our needs and offering insightful recommendations from the menu. We started our culinary journey with the Tuna Tartare, a refreshing blend of flavours complemented by avocado and citrus. For the main course, the Aloette Burger stole the spotlight a juicy, perfectly cooked patty topped with caramelized onions and aged cheddar, served with crispy fries that were simply addictive. Overall Experience: Aloette delivers an exceptional dining experience that blends high-quality cuisine with a relaxed ambiance and attentive service. Amandas professionalism and passion for ensuring a memorable visit added a personal touch that enhanced our evening. Whether youre seeking a casual lunch or an intimate dinner, Aloette promises a culinary journey that celebrates the best of local ingredients and global influences. Final Verdict: Aloette stands out as a must-visit destination in Torontos vibrant dining scene. Whether youre a local looking for a new favorite spot or a visitor seeking a taste of Torontos culinary diversity, Aloette offers an inviting haven where every dish is a testament to creativity and quality.
5/5 Everytime you can close your eyes and pick any dish and feel safe that it will amazing
Food is amazing, I ve been here a few times and it is consistently delicious. However this last visit the service was very bad. Waiter immediately made us feel rushed by pushing us to order as we only had the table for 90 min (there were 4 of us?!). When the wrong food was brought for a member of the group, the rest of us were told to start eating, it ll take a while to get the right dish . Cleared the table before everyone was done eating to rush the last of our group and removed the bread before she had gotten to it. They brought desert out before the last person had finished eating their main and their plate was still at the table - rude. Felt rushed through the entire meal, overall bad service from our waiter while the other waiters were being very polite and friendly.
Not a huge fan of the brunch menu, but their regular food menu is pretty good. Portions run very small. Would recommend the wedge salad which has a lot of interesting textures and good dressing. It was a bit alarming that the mimosa was so bright orange too but still was a good drink.
Update review in2024: Ive lost count of how many times Ive been to Aloette, but its definitely over ten. The biggest surprise this time was having a table available for walk-ins. Every other time, Ive only been able to reserve a spot at the bar. Aloette is hands down one of the best restaurants in Toronto for me. After being in Canada for so many years, Aloette is the restaurant I visit the most frequently and am consistently delighted with the overall dining experience. Honestly, it surpasses Alo and Alobar in my opinion. Each appetizer was to my liking. The biggest surprise was that the menu changes every few months!!! Dishes that I enjoy, such as beef tartare/Foie gras/octopus/lettuce salad, are presented in different ways every few months. This means that my favorite things are constantly being renewed without repetition in my life! The new combinations always bring a lot of innovation. I truly hope Aloette continues to stay innovative! The standout main dish this time was the lamb skewer! The lamb skewers are fatty but not greasy, with a tender and glutinous interior and crispy edges. I highly recommend them to every meat lover out there, regardless of whether you usually enjoy mutton or not; one bite and youll be hooked! The accompanying sauces also hit the spot for me; I used my bread to scrape every last bit of them! You don t need to wash dishes!!!Another classic must-try is the Short Rib. The burger, on the other hand, was a bit underwhelming, perhaps because I have a strong preference for well-seasoned patties. The newly waygu burger patty was rather plain in taste.Desserts are always a must-try for me, especially with new items on the menu! Goose liver ice cream was a delightful surprise! I particularly enjoy when a dish combines various textures, especially the sweet and savory. Trust me, Aloette is truly worth a visit! I hope Aloette continues to excel in culinary excellence! You are the reason I stay in Toronto! Review in 2023: Perfect experience!!! I have always believed that Aloette is committed to doing a good job in catering. I have been in Canada for two years, and Aloette is the restaurant where I check in the most repeatedly. Even the same food will be presented in different styles, which always amazes me. I think Aloette is the most worthy restaurant in the Alo series to taste. I hope Aloette can continue like this! Iceberg Salad: This is my first time trying salad here. The taste really surprised me! Its the first time Ive experienced salad that can be so delicious. The combination of crunchy nuts, avocado, salad dressing, and fresh vegetables is just right!
All the food was delicious! Our favorite was the foie gras parfait and the wedge salad. We wanted to try the foie gras sundae but their machine wasn t working Highly recommend this restaurant!
Food was alright but nothing special for its price. Friendly service but the seats were uncomfortable (not enough space for people)
Brunch was rather disappointing though perhaps I ordered the wrong things. Had the chicken and waffles. The sambal dressing / maple syrup was alright. Though would have preferred the dish to have more acidity and spice. The hot sauce brought to the table was unfortunately not really spicy. The triple fried fries were good and the bread and butter to start was also delicious. I m personally quite a fan of Aloette go but would reconsider other spots in town before going here. Really friendly service though!
The team here is really awesome and trustworthy. I think this place served the best dirty martini I ve ever had. The food was lovely.
Sat at the bar for lunch. Ordered oysters to start and a cocktail each then a burger and the giant prawn. Service and food were both excellent.
Probably the worse restaurant I have eaten at. How is this a Michelin star? First it wasnt a hospitable welcoming from the host. Then I was seated next to a complete stranger at the bar eventhough there were about 20 free stools. The next lady to come in was seated comfortably at the opposite end. The hostess didnt even let me scoot down. The place is super small. A make shift dice restaurant outside Alo. Alo of course has a better atmosphere. The food was atrocious. The beef tartar came on 2 small crusting and was mixed with I think mustard and did not taste good. The asparagus tempura barely had tempura. The lamb kabab meat tasted weird and stringy. Their cocktail was water down. Really nothing here had the signs of a Michelin star. Although I think Michelin standards have gone down over the years. Far better places to eat in this city.
The service that we were given at Aloette was extremely good. The waiter made sure we had an amazing time. The food was very good as well!
Superb discovery in Toronto. Extremely good and well presented dishes. Top notch service! I recommend the truffle burger and the lemon meringue tart :)
Came here for dinner and overall enjoyed our meal. They were able to accommodate us as a walk-in which I really appreciated. We sat at the end of the bar where we got to see the kitchen. Having worked in kitchens for a number of years while I was in university, I loved seeing how clean and organized everything was. It was clear that everyone took a lot of pride in the work they do which I loved. We ordered the burger, salmon tartare and lamb skewer then finished off with their lemon meringue pie. Everything was really delicious and I had a fantastic date with my partner. My only major knock on the place is that the lamb skewer came as a single skewer when all the photos on social media show the order being 2 skewers in a plate. I personally thought that was misleading and I was a bit surprised when the food came.
Lunch at Aloette was just great! The serving staff were very nice and helpful, coffee was on the table right away, and readily refreshed. The server explained the special for the lunch menu, smoked salmon tower with savory pancakes. I ordered that, and it was delicious - the tower also included some tasty additions for my pancakes, a flavourful cream cheese, delicate cucumbers & tomatoes and capers. Delish! My partner ordered the pork belly and escargot, I had a taste, it was so good. We added an order of the double fried french fries, yummy! We also had a mini loaf of very fresh cheese bread added to our meal, which was wonderful. The place was very busy, and we sat at the bar/counter, which was quite comfortable. We really enjoyed our meal here, highly recommended!!
Excellent! Excellent service and food! Ill be back! We.
I went on Mothers Day with my sons. I had a lovely time. Lemon Meringue Pie is
Terrible and humiliating experience. We booked an indoor table for 11am, arrived on time, and made our order around 11:10am. Got our drink around 11:15am and foods arrived 11:50am (see the timestamps in pics) - a bit of long wait but fine, it was our anniversary we could bear with it. Around 12:15 pm, a group of family arrived (for your contexts, we are people of color and this family is white) - and then the blonde lady who stood at reception walked to us, saying we were hitting the time limits (despite there were few other tables that arrived earlier than us and still finishing their foods) and they would move us to the bar so that we can finish our foods there and to make space for the white family. This is such a humiliating experience - will never ever come back to this place again. If you are people of color and you do not want to be treated like this - avoid this place at all costs.
Good vibes, kind staffs, amazing dishes
Real genuine service. This is how dining should be.
Incredible food, cocktails, and service. 10/10.
Over promise, under deliver. What is this menu? Burgers and gochujang? The servers moved my glass to its correct position that s creepy bro. The only good thing about this place is the ambiance. Burger? BLAND, the crisped cheese is not a good flavour. I saw several tables send back food uneaten.
The flavors here pack a punch - by itself each dish was delicious, but together it might feel too rich (e.g. the lemon tart was amazing, but after three bites it was too sweet for me). My favorite dish was the iceberg wedge salad, I could eat this for lunch by itself!
Amazing brunch experience
They were extremely accommodating when booking a reservation via email. I picked a date and then had to change it after my wife told me we had a prior engagement elsewhere. Whoops. Sorry. The booths are able to accommodate 4 people. We brought our 7 year old and the 5 of us were able to squeeze in. Due to the squeeze, they offered to coat check us, which was nice. We came here for brunch and the food was delicious. We brought my wife s parents here and they couldn t get enough of the food. They normally eat Chinese food so it was great to see they enjoyed it. My daughter loved the Aloette Fried Chicken. She loved wrapping it up with the greens. She also enjoyed the pickles and the honey on the chicken. The only issue we encountered was they forgot two orders of fries. They apologized and they comped us for the fries which was very much appreciated. We didn t plan on asking and they proactively offered. Thank you. Perhaps the next time we come here, it ll be for dinner as their menu looks really appetizing.
I went there for brunch, and it was top notch experience all around. the decor: chefs kiss. Probably the best chicken and waffle Ive had in Toronto. the chicken was perfectly seasoned, the waffle was moist but not overly soggy. the sweet glaze on top was a perfectly brought the whole dish to together, balancing the sweet and savory. our server was attentive and very friendly and engaging. (forgot their name) I would definitely recommend trying out their brunch menu
Fantastic meal as all dishes superbly prepared and delicious from the roasted brie on toast, short ribs and waygu burger with fried gruyere. Nice cocktail and beer selection.
Flawless. I had a spiritual experience while eating the burger
Great experience overall - setting is lovely, service is impeccable. We were sat at the bar towards the kitchen which was great as we got to see the magic happen. Everything was spot on and the value for money is great. I definitely recommend coming here for dinner in a date setting. Very relaxed, yet unique and memorable. Delicious.
The brunch menu is so good!! Love the food and the vibe
The service was top notch, ever helpful but not overbearing. The space is tight but from that a delightful ambiance emerges. The food was a hit from start to finish. An amazing experience to share each and every plate. Top tier wine list.
We tried there for brunch and the food quality was exceptional, each plate was quality checked by the chef and inspected for perfection. Although one of our food arrived lkke 30 minutes late, it was so yummy that I wouldn t reduce and star.
Aloette is an amazing spot for dinner and crafted cocktails. We didnt have a reservation but luckily able to grab a spot at the bar. The cocktails were delicious! The vibe at this place is unpretentious, elevated but not stuffy. The fried chicken was tender and crispy and a huge portion served as lettuce wraps. The squash was a surprising hit of flavours and textures. We ordered the pie and I ended taking it home, it was a giant delicious slice! We had a great time at Aloette.
We were excited to try Aloette, but were disappointed to find no vegetarian options on the menu. When we asked the waitress about this, she simply confirmed they had no vegetarian options that night. Considering the restaurant s reputation, we were surprised she did not discuss our preferences with the chef first. Although we did not get to taste the food, the atmosphere was pleasant.
We managed to visit Aloette on a last minute reservation after our previous brunch plans fell through.. and we were pleasantly surprised by our experience! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely! We loved the music playing during our meal too. My only constructive feedback would be to be a bit more prepared for possible dietary restrictions and have well-thought-out backup options for anyone who comes in with the more common allergies and intolerances. That being said, they were still more than accommodating with my gluten intolerance. I wouldnt hesitate to go back there!
Great food and great vibes
At Aloe te Restaurant , the service is top-notch. From the warm welcome to personalized recommendations, the staff goes above and beyond. The attentive yet unobtrusive service, coupled with a cozy atmosphere, creates a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for both excellent food and exceptional service.
We got their valentine special set menus. All the appetizers were great! Very satisfied with the taste and the overall quality. However, everything after that was too salty. We couldnt finish their ricotta and steak at the end because it was just too salty one after another. Their dessert was tasty.
Appetizers are amazing, would recommend trying out a variety of them!
Everything was really good, and the staff were very friendly.
Delicious!
Flavour explosion. A place a foodie would enjoy. Well thought out dishes and you can taste all the components working together. Service and staff were excellent.
We shared the Aloette Burger and Shakshuka Royale. The Shakshuka was decent, my favourite part was the nduja stuffed olive but was not a huge fan of the merguez sausage because I dont like ground lamb. The Burger was well seasoned, cooked perfectly, and the beauford cheese really compliments it. I would definitely come back just for the burger. The lemon meringue pie is by far the best Ive ever had in my life so its a must try. The acidity of the lemon is perfectly balanced out with the sweetness from the crust and meringue. On top of that, the service was incredible. Everyone was so attentive and nice. Our server Bennett was so friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and diligent.
Delicious!!!! Wow! Excellent food, subtle blends of flavour. Lovely presentation. Attention to every detail. Perfect service, knowledgeable guidance with the menu and wine selection. Look forward to my next visit.
Came here for a birthday dinner and the food was absolutley delicious. The complimentary cheese bread was so good, I would pay for more. The beef tartare was amazing, a bit steep for $22 for only 2 pieces/servings, but very delicious and flavourful. The lamb skewers were a bit heavy but the vegetable mix on top helped a lot to cut the fattiness. The aloette burger was alright, but nothing amazing. So surprised to say the star of the show was the crispy butternut squash, it was sweet and salty and so yummy I would come back just for this. Service was also great, our cups were never more than half empty, our server made great suggestions and accommodated to all our requests. We were worried it would be cold since we sat at the first booth but the wind was kept out surpringsly well. Highly recommend. I would love to try their brunch as well.
I do brunch often around the city and my partner likes the coolest, most interesting menu she can find. This time my parents were coming down so I found a menu I wanted to try and since I love Alo I figured Aloette will be awesome. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! this is my new favourite brunch spot with a reasonably priced menu filed with nothing but hits. The burger is light, simple but exceptional; with a perfect patty, and I just don t want to ruin the rest. The chicken and waffles is the best I ve had in Ontario and the pork belly was interesting and definetly worth having if you love pork belly like I do (not my favourite in the city but exceptional for a brunch item and at that price). Warning, the crepe is not what you d expect and you should ask the server to describe it to you. Since I m not big on desert I skipped it but it was a really interesting dish. The fries were great and worth the $10. All in all the dishes were interesting, balanced, rich in flavour and I left full but not stuffed.
Years later, it s still worth the hype. Truly always a great evening at aloette, their decor, the hip hop and classic rap playing during dinner, their creative drinks and amazing service. Always makes me want to come back again. Don t miss their tartare, stuffed olives, and bread/butter. Top notch.
I loved the place and appreciated the fact of being seated in front of the chef we were able to see how he finished every single plate. I didn t like the kind of spritz and how they serve it. The lemon pie is a highlight it is quite delicious and has a peculiar sourness, not from lemon but from lime. The fries, and the wagyu hamburger, were good. The butternut squash was a surprise it looked good but tasted even better and really enjoyed the balanced flavors on the lamb skewer.
I ate there with a group of three other people on Saturday, Jan 27. One of us got a really bad case of food poisoning. Called the resturant after. Had to leave a voicemail. Nobody even reached out to me after. Anyway. The food tasted good but I not going back.
Flawless 5 stars. The food here is actually exceptional and completely lived up to the hype. The staff were very pleasant and personable. The atmosphere is perfect for date night, very cozy. The chop salad: one of the best I ve had, the dressing had so much flavour 10/10. Fried chicken: like a premium version of KFC, lots of flavour, great sauce 9.8/10. Burger: perfect crust, perfectly cooked, perfectly juicy 10/10. Sweet potatoes: just like thanksgiving! The best I ve ever had 10/10. The fries: solid, they re just good fries, nothing extremely good about them just tasty and quality 8.9/10. Overall, one of the best spots in recent memory for Toronto. Deserves its Michelin recommendation!
Phenomenal food and service. Managed to squeeze us in for dinner service and were super professional in order to maximize our experience. The special was oysters with finger lime arils, cucumber gremolata and Thai basil. The menu was fresh and diverse, many nods to southeast Asian cuisine but the ricotta agnolotti and nduja stuffed olive canapés show their talent for food is broad. Cocktails were inspired, with culinary notes, and a good variety from long and flavourful to short, complex, and boozy. Great vibes, good music, warm cozy atmosphere and an elevated experience. Super happy to have visited, this meal made the trip worth it, you bet we will be back.
Consistently delicious. And its such a treat to go somewhere you can always rely on. Ive had probably half the menu and theres yet to be a dud. Can be busy and its super small, but its very cute and charming and the food doesnt disappoint.
Food is always great, from the 3 times I ve gone, the front staff have been the best in every way to accommodate and welcome us in. 2/3 times the service staff were great, in fact the first server left an impression on us which is why we continued to return! The most recent time one specific server had attitude and tried to make a point out of me ordering for my boyfriend as he parked the car which I don t mind considering you can tell she had no boundary between work and personal issues. Food always tastes great and presented perfectly. Do not let this review repel you from this perfect restaurant, just avoid the ginger girl server! Parking: Following the side alley you ll see a parking structure.
Tasty food that seem like they re part of a tasting menu, but you can order what you want from the menu! Very old style restaurant feel with a vintage vibe, but tables are cramped if 4+ people, which we were.
We came here for dinner on a Sat night. Service was good, considering how busy the place was. Nice washroom in the basement also. The food was really good. The complementary bread and truffle butter was the best Ive ever had! Aloette burger, fries, and beef tartare were all amazing! Cant say the same for drinks and dessert. We ordered 4 different cocktails from the menu between 2 people and the flavour combinations just werent hitting. We have had a lot better at other high end restaurants. Was excited to try the very hyped lemon meringue pie for dessert, but was truly disappointed. It was way too sour and my husband and I couldnt finish it.
Dine in for a 12 pm reservation on Sunday. The food was really really good!! I devoured the butternut squash dish, so creamy and great mushy texture with a little crunch from the nuts. The yuzu sauce on the fried chicken was surprisingly tasty and turning it into lettuce wraps with radish and pickles was great. The premeal cheese toast with spread was also so yummy! The place itself is quite small and a little cramped with limited booth seating but there is a bar area to sit in as well. Interested in checking out their other branches Alo and Aloette Go. Customer service was excellent and I cannot recommend the food enough
Everything was fantastic!
Stopped by here for a late Sunday night dinner. Had high expectations given the review, but ultimately was pretty disappointed. tldr: iceberg wedge was the only must try item For starters we had the beets and the iceberg wedge. The beets were very sour and just okay, but the highlight was definitely the iceberg wedge. Lots of tasty dressing, and crunchy toppings. Single handedly saved the meal. For drinks we had the peach lemonade, which had 0 peach flavour and at $14 is extremely overpriced. Definetly would not recommend that. Entrees we had the truffle burger and the fried chicken. The fried chicken was quite enjoyable, but the batter is very cumin heavy. The truffle burger comes drenched in a sauce, so you have to eat it with a fork a knife which is quite awkward. I tasted zero truffle flavour and ultimately this item was a disappointment The lemon merigue pie for dessert was just okay, it was quite sour and not all that enjoyable. Service speed wise was good, water was refilled promptly, table cleaned inbetween courses, etc. However the staff was quite rude at times, simple inquiries were responded with rude answers. Probably having a bad day. Overall, would not go back but if you are set on this place I would definitely recommend the iceberg wedge.
We ordered cocktails, burgers and fries, beef tartare, oysters, wedge salad, and dessert. The one bite beef tartare was unexpectedly salty, so much so that it ended up curing the finely minced raw beef. The burger was average at best and didnt quite live up to its hype IMO, the saving grace was the melty chunk of grilled Beaufort cheese. The foie gras sundae was unique and memorable. All things considered, everything was very expensive for what it was - especially the nicely decorated wedge salad given that it is a half a head of iceberg lettuce. The service was bad. We waited to try this restaurant for years but its regretfully a one and done. There are plenty of French restaurants in Toronto that arent pretentious at all. For high-end burgers, steakhouses are much better options at a similar or lower price point. Dont come here just for the burger or you will be disappointed! Even if you stick to Burger Drops, Extra Burger, Rosies, hell even McDonalds you will be happier. We wont be back.
Every dish was incredible
My wife and I were really looking forward to a nice dinner here, but we were left disappointed. We expected small portions, but these portions are extremely small for the pricetag. The portobello on the portobello skewers tasted great, but the quinoa was crunchy, chewy, and bland...its not a nice combination. The Wagyu burger wasnt seasoned or cooked properly. On the plus side, the duck confit pasta was delicious. The staff were also nice and attentive. Overall, I expected a far better experience, especially because we dined at Alo recently and it was one the best dinners Ive ever had. We know Aloette could be a great dining experience, but the menu needs a huge overhaul.
Iceberg Wedge Salad is a must-try. Aloette burger & fries were good as well!
The food is rich, delicious and innovative. New flavors mixed with familiar comforts make this establishment a must-do when in Toronto. The service was above and beyond from our server Kabrielle but the entire staff worked in perfect sync to make the night unforgettable
Delicious food and awesome atmosphere. Had dinner at the bar with a couple drinks. Shared 5 dishes, grilled beet salad was my favourite. Service was impeccable and the cozy atmosphere made for a perfect night.
More than expected. Went for the burgers we had heard so about and they were splendid layers of beautiful flavours cooked to perfection. Had one order fries and one butternut squash per our excellent servers reco and both rocked, with the squash being a creative and tasty side. Beautiful, warm space that feels big though remains cozy. Leave your dining experience in these great hands and you wont be disappointed
A scrumptious, delightful gem. Easy-going, lovely, knowledgeable staff. Gorgeous cocktails that are so good, youll want to try them all.
Great tasting menu
Everything we got was delicious, especially the complimentary bread and butter and triple fried fries. Wasn t a fan of sitting at the bar, wish they offered us seats at a table.
A chip off the old block. Amazing intro to what you can expect upstairs. Great service as well
Aloette is a must-visit destination for foodies and is sure to delight your taste buds. Its fine dining sister-restaurant ALO upstairs has always been one of the most sought after reservations in Toronto and Aloette upholds a similarly high standard for the food they serve in a more casual diner setting. The Aloette Burger is a showstopper that is sure to leave you craving for more. The thick melty patty of beaufort cheese that tops a perfectly medium-rare beef burger is what sets it apart. The rest of the burger however keeps things dignified with lettuce and onions. Perfectly executed, without trying too hard. Youll probably be pretty well fed after their loaf of cheddar brioche bread on top of whatever you ordered (everything sure to be good), but dont leave without having their Lemon Meringue Pie. It is a perfect blend of sweetness and tanginess that will take your taste buds over the top. Not surprisingly Aloette is listed in the Michelin guide and ALO is honoured with a star, but any local will tell you that they were one of our favourites long before Michelin decided to pay a visit to Toronto.
FOOD: Salmon Sashimi & Sea Urchin: I thought its sashimi but it came with rice. The sashimi and sea urchin part is good, but the crispy rice is meh. Aloette Burger: Its so cheesy, the cheese is as thick as the patty. The beef is tender, brioche bun is very soft. Pork Sandwich (daily special): this one is decent but I like the burger better. Brioche & butter (comped): quite salty, the butter is actually buttercream but its sweet so it doesnt go very well with the salty brioche. Foie Gras Sundae: pretty sweet and slightly savory after taste. I dont taste the foie gras. The ice cream was great. SERVICE: I was sitting at the bar so therere always some servers standing right in front of me, the service was very fast. VIBE: the place is much smaller than I thought, not so many seats and the hallway is also very small.
This restaurant has become my go-to spot, and the wedge salad is an unexpected delight that keeps me coming back. Despite being just a salad, its incredibly delicious. The cozy atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a perfect place to unwind. The staffs friendliness enhances the overall experience, making every visit enjoyable. A definite recommendation for those who appreciate great food in a welcoming setting.
I was lucky enough to go in and it was so delicious. It was a place where all the food wasnt too strong and the taste and texture were so well balanced that it was enjoyable to eat.
A true favorite. Everything has been delicious here.
Food, drinks, and service all top notch. They do not miss here!
Food is so delicious, great lunch specials for a fair price. Highly recommend for a small group, booths are very comfy to sit in. Service is above excellent!
Came here with my family a while back, and forgot to write a review. Food was alright, however portions were pretty small given the price. Service was a strong point!
The Rockford Peach & Open Doors cocktails were excellent and the atmosphere was bustling but not too loud. The food itself was quite underwhelming for the price point. The staple Aloette burger was surprisingly small, which would be fine if it was a good burger, however it was extremely dry and flavourless. I also had a bite of the lamb ragu pappardelle but didn t love it - the lamb was tough and wiry and the sauce was average.
Cute super tiny space. Great service but the food fell short. Ordered the little neck clams and lamb Ragu pappardelli. Surprised on how small the portions were for each dish. The complimentary bread and butter tasted better than what we ordered. Disappointed on the lamb ragu which tasted like fish or anchovies and some pieces of the lamb tasted gamey. For the baby clams- there were about 7-8pieces, definitely not worth the price of $26.00 Was still hungry after I left the restaurant because the portions were super small. Overrated and pricey.
-Hamachi Ceviche -Complimentary Bread & Butter * -Lamb Ragu Pappardelle * -Nem Stuffed Chicken Wings * -Triple Cooked Fries -Foie Gras Sundae *
Definitely believe the hype about this place! It deserves all the praise it receives. Excellent casual-cool-yet intimate atmosphere, incredible tasting and looking dishes served with a panache, poise, and professionalism, and the cocktails are great too! Bartenders/staff/servers were awesome and attentive, professional, polite, and easy to talk to. Will definitely be going back for another round in the future! Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options here, to be honest some of the best food we ate was vegetarian. Dietary restrictions: They ask about any allergies or modifications needed before you order.
Really awesome, quaint diner-esque with a touch of modernity and metropolitan feel. We tried a lot of food and it was all very good. The apps come in orders of 2, tapas-bite size style, but they can add a 3rd piece if asked for. We tried the warmed olives, sashimi, beef tartare and complementary house made bread with garlic butter that just melted in your mouth. We had a couple of cocktails, and some wine. For our mains we tried one of the features, the fried chicken this was just unbelievably good. Excellent spicing, crispyness, flavor and texture. Would go down well with a light beer. Will definitely be revisiting. They do take reservations, and I do recommend this as a nice quiet date spot for you to try.
This is a solid pick for an upscale lunch. The beef tartare and pork belly were great along with the cheese bread!
From the moment we walked in, I felt the impeccable service. The whole team from the hostess to the waitstaff were amazing!!! I felt very taken care of. I especially liked how they checked up on us and changed our plates multiple times without ever needing me to ask. Aside from the flavourful dishes, I loved the drinks. We ordered 8+ dishes and left feeling very full. Each dish was full of unique bold flavors. Definitely would have back!
Great service, amazing burger!
The vibe is great (if a little loud and crowded given its tiny footprint), the menu is very cool, the service was impeccable and quick. Our dishes did not wow as I hoped they would. They were certainly interesting, well presented, and tasty...thats not my point...my point is none of the plates we ordered knocked our socks off as we had hoped or even expected them to. Some chefs call it the best burger in the city. It was a beautiful and beautifully built burger, but it did not fly for me as a number 1 burger ought to.
I ordered chicken burgers through Uber Eats! Other than the tons of not tasty spices it had also there is a big chunk of dark meat in my sandwich! Honestly it was disgusting and disappointing! Couldnt even have more than 2 bites!
I was lucky enough to get a seat at the bar as I walking around the city - service was very efficient and engaging - the hamburger and fries were outstanding - I agreed with the hostess who remarked on the simplicity of a great burger - the Woodhouse Lager was perfectly cold and a nice match with the burger.
Food & service are top notch. That Autumn squash was the best squash course I have ever had in my life!
The cabbage wedge is interesting and tasty but somewhat hard to cut and eat clean. Burger is juicy and very good indeed, which deserves the reputation! Not impressed by the hamachi ceviche at all it is very different plating compared to the prawn one which is not available currently. Complementary bread is cheesy but unfortunately does not go with the truffle cream at all simple sourdough bread would have been better. Service is nice and quick but this place is very busy with loud music even on a Monday not recommended if you want some quiet chilled date.
My wife and I had an amazing experience at Aloette last night. Food was beyond our expectations. Super super tasty. They really have their flavours down to a science with a very simple menu! I would have to say the service is better than 99% of the restos out there. Always checking on us and making sure our glasses were always full! We had the nduja stuffed olives, beer tartare crustini, hamache ceviche, seared scallops and the burger. All in all an amazing night. Thank you!
We re back again. We had a fantastic lunch. Everything was delicious. Bit far and away were the olives. Could eat those all afternoon, with a bit of bubbly of course.
Customer experience was great. Friendly, informative service with coat check. Drink menu has great non alcoholic options (Sparkling Jasmine Tea was flavourful and refreshing). We started with the Salmon Sashimi. Salmon was fresh and on top of warm crispy rice. Next was a Potato Cheddar bread along with beef tartare. Potato cheddar bread was warm, moist and delicious. Beef tartare was packed with flavour. We progressed to the Octopus carpaccio which was a burst of flavours (one of my favourites of the evening). The lamb skewers were tender and tasty. The sauce helped complete the dish. The burger was the best thing we tried on the menu. The meat was juicy and cooked medium. Fried cheese in the burger elevated the flavours and the bun was really soft. With the burger we had fries and Brussel sprouts as our sides (I preferred the Brussel sprouts to the fries). Dessert was a Foie Gras Sunday. Soft serve ice cream with the flavours of Foie Gras. At first the flavour profile shocked me, but as you eat it with the maple syrup the flavours start to blend and complement each other like a singer being support by an experienced band.
The food was delicious but wasn t too comfortable with the environment (music was a bit loud and it was very hot in there especially when it s packed).
Food was delicious, but stingy. I ordered the lamb skewers for 38$. What you get is two skewers about 1cm in width, sitting on some sauce. Theres no salad, no vegetables, no rice. These things would cost the restaurant literal cents to add. The lamb was soft and tasted good, at least. Service was also very subpar. In a nearly empty restaurant there were significant waits to order, to have our water topped up, to ask for the bill etc. You can eat for relatively the same price at Bar Isabel, same quality of food (might be even better honestly), and VASTLY better service. There, you feel like youre getting your moneys worth aswell.
Incredibly unique space. Booth only seating (which is superior) and long narrow layout evoke an old timey train dinning car. Food and service are both exceptional.
