Now celebrating their 29th year in hospitality, HOTHOUSE is proud to be known as a local culinary institution in the community. With a focus on international cuisine, menus are updated seasonally and feature dishes and flavours from around the world. Their regularly curated, rotating food and drinks menu offers thoughtfully-designed specials every day of the week. Also known for its signature Sunday Brunch Buffet, which boasts an omelette station, waffle bar, roast beef and ham carvery, dessert tables, complimentary coffee and tea as well as a live jazz performance. After undergoing a significant renovation to the restaurant and patio in 2019, their 12,000 sq ft location can host over 675 guests, including licensed outdoor space.
Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful location. The fancy accompliaments could be dialed down a little bit. The pork tenderloin was perfectly cooked. Was there as part of a group tour with CAA Niagara's Journey's team and the menu provided had some choice but could be a better amount of options.
Hot House Restaurant in the St.Lawrence Market stands out as one of Toronto's most popular dining spots, renowned for its exceptional food, vibrant and spacious ambiance, and impeccable service. The menu is a delightful mix of international flavors, featuring gourmet pizzas, succulent steaks, pasta dishes, seasonal salads, and decadent desserts. The extensive vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options cater to diverse dietary needs, making it a top choice for all diners. The Frutti Di Mare, Sunday brunch buffet, and expertly crafted ribs are notable recomendations. My favourite as a vegetarian is their Winterlicous menu of imaginative dishes as pictured from the last one, of Tuscany Farro Soup, Vegetable Kebabs and Cardamom Olive Cake. I'm looking forward to the next. The ambiance is equally impressive, with spacious, colorfully decorated interiors and a sunlit 150-seat patio perfect for enjoying fine Italian wines or Canadian craft beers. Whether it’s a heatwave or a chilly evening, the restaurant provides a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Attentive and friedly staff go the extra mile to accommodate guests, including handling dietary restrictions with care. Located in the heart of Toronto at 35 Church Street at Front, Hot House is steps away from local landmarks like St. Lawrence Market. With street and nearby parking available, it’s a convenient and memorable spot for any occasion, which I recommend.
Wonderful place close to Lawrence market. HOTHOUSE is a chill spot for a quick bite. They've got a good selection of pizzas, pastas, and other nosh, all at a decent price. The vibe is super relaxed, making it a great place to chill with friends or family.
Nice place, spacious patio with a vibrant atmosphere. Quite a variety on the menu gives you many options to choose from. Food was average overall, nothing really stands put in terms of flavour and taste. Service could be better, perhaps be more friendly and accommodating.
The Sunday Brunch is a must try while you are in Toronto. There are just so many options it is impossible not to please everyone at the table. Everything I ate was really good, but my highlights were the salmon Wellington, the lasagna, the waffle and the pudding. You can try everything and eat as much as you want, which is good since it allows you to explore all different flavors they have to offer. Plus, there’s live music, with an amazing jazz band playing to make the environment even more pleasant.
The atmosphere is really amazing, the decoration is very chic. But we went on the week day, I believe it was on Wednesday, the service was ok, but as the place was not busy I was expecting more attention. The food, although well plated, was not so good. I think it could taste better. My mother in law took a risotto made of fregola. It was the first time that we tried it. It was bland, not seasoned at all.
The ambience was super cool..! But food wise .. it's more expensive and tastes average for the amount we are paying.. We juts found a steel dish washing scrubber in pasta they served .. but they just didn't add that in bill..please pay attention while eating! Their spicy mango margarita and french martini was so good..
Long wait for food. I had the spinach salad with grilled chicken (add-on). The chicken was dry, like it was leftover roast chicken that they grilled. 🤔 My father-in-law had the cob salad, and it looked good. I should have had that. Tourist spot, so be prepared to wait a while. Not for working people with only 1 hr for lunch. 😁 Best for after work/before a show, etc. Look at other reviews - other dishes seem to be ok. Would try the pasta next time. Our server was really pleasant; made sure water and coffee refills were done. We sat in the covered patio area. It can get hot out there. Thank you.
Hour and a half wait decent food very fancy restaurant not for the unwealthy and kids will not like it. Dietary restrictions: Low variety
Is a busy place even at lunch time it is very busy. Lunch was a 2 hour plus duration but food and atmosphere was great.
Sunday brunch was excellent. Great place to go.
Bystling place with a huge buffet spread. Loved the smoked salmon, salmon wellington, bacon, and French toast of all
Good crowd pleasing restaurant. Food was good, service was nice despite being very busy near the holidays.
Great vibe, very polite staff and amazing food. Great spot for hanging out with your gang or teammates.
Yesterday went for team lunch.in a single sentence our whole team entered in the restaurant starving and came out starving. No taste and quantity also not sufficient to most of my team members. Overall regretted for going for team lunch to this location.
Really enjoyed this place! We got the ragu pasta and the mushroom pasta - both were excellent. Service was on point despite how busy it was. I would recommend coming here!
Best Sunday brunch buffet in the city.
Good food, service can be improved
Staff very attentive, had the best Angus burger I have ever had at a restaurant.. great place , not cheap, but not super expensive either Vegetarian options: Very good veggie wrap on the menu and a great veggie stir fry
Sunday Jazz Brunch is always a delight and the perfect way to enjoy a Sunday morning or afternoon downtown.
Went here for office Christmas dinner. Service was beyond exceptional and food was good as always. Been here for the brunch, highly recommend you go and enjoy their brunch menu.
It is a great place to enjoy a high quality buffet in the city of Toronto. However, if a tourist like me is looking for something uniquely Canadian here, I think it is a little different. The restaurant was busy and the food was satisfying enough, so it might be a good place to relive the daily lives of the people of Toronto.
Subject: Disappointing Experience, Except for the Waitstaff The only redeeming aspect of our evening was the exceptional service provided by our waitress. Unfortunately, everything else fell far below expectations. The drinks we ordered from the bar were the worst we ve ever had so bad, I couldn t even finish the first sip. The mussels were shockingly small, even considering they might not be in season, and the pasta was undercooked and hard its baffling how something as basic as cooking pasta was missed. In times like these, where money and food are more precious than ever, it s incredibly frustrating to see my hard-earned money wasted on such a disappointing experience.
Great city patio and resto location. Server friendly and responsive 3 people for lunch good beer selection. I ordered blackened fish salad and a few minutes later told not any more left? So I had torilini in tomato sauce and I swear it came out of a can!! I would never eat here again
The live music was fantastic and added a vibrant atmosphere. However, the breakfast buffet left much to be desired in terms of taste.
Food here is a winning combination. Must try event.
It was a nice night with long-time friends. The food was so so not that great (cold when it came). The service was long it took more than 25 minutes wait. The atmosphere was alright because there were not a lot of people in it.
Sicilian Gnocchi...I have been coming here for over a decade now and it is what I order everytime. Sometimes I will get the mussels first or split an entree and let the gnocchi be the appetizer but I will never not get this dish. Love it here
Fantastic visit. Took a group of family for dinner and we all really enjoyed our meals. I had the seafood risotto - wow. Two has the jambalaya - had to takeaway left over, really enjoyed it. Lamb shank with creamy polenta - a double WOW Patty was our server and she is a superstar - knowledgeable, helpful, attentive. Deserves a raise! Hadnt been here in quite a while and so glad it has stood the test of time. Really strong recommendation.
Excellent food and service. I was lucky enough to meet Executive Chef Shane last night and let him know his food is amazing! Thank you
This was a nice find on our holiday in Toronto. The food was of good quality and not deep fried, but the kids pasta meal lacked any meat (just pasta and sauce). Drinks were good and they had a half off bottle of wine on the night, which you can take away in a bag if you did not finish it. The server was very professional and courteous, the atmosphere was good, and the location was also very good. Good wide view of the street also. Would recommend overall, we had a nice evening here.
Excellent food and service
If I could rate it 10 stars, I would. Lets start at the beginning: Originally, I emailed Piano Piano to ask about having my group of 18-20 people eat there. In my email, I specified I just wanted everything to be easy going and smooth. No deposits, no minimum spends, no restrictions on where we sit in the restaurant, and definitely not a long list of things we can and can not do. After I realized they werent going to let up, I found HOTHOUSE and read all the amazing reviews about their Sunday Brunch Buffet and decided to give them a call. First, I spoke with Nadia (sweetheart who told me her birthday was also on Sunday), then I spoke with Ramil to make the booking. Both of them were extremely easy to speak with and VERY easy going when it came to booking larger groups. I paid nothing up front, had no minimum spend, didnt need to pay ONLY 1 bill for the group and accommodated us in a semi private room, at NO EXTRA COST!!! I knew I had chosen the right place to celebrate my birthday! Upon Arrival: I was running 10 mins late, and 2 of my guests arrived 7 mins early. The host/hostesses were kind enough to seat them right away, without making at least HALF of the group show up first (like most places do). During the brunch: Sean, was our server, and I have to say...HE WAS AMAZING!!! Friendly, Attentive, Patient, very Thorough and Efficient. I couldnt have asked for a better server!!! I was able to meet Nadia (my birthday twin) and greet her a Happy Birthday as well! Before we left: There were several employees who we encountered that day. Ones who helped our server clear a whole set table behind ours, just so we could have a nice space to do the birthday cake and to take more pics. Another server came to take our group pics as well. Every single employee was pleasant, friendly and patient. OVERALL...my guests and I had the most amazing brunch experience and we will definitely be back again! Thank you HOTHOUSE restaurant!!!
I came here for brunch and had the eggs benedict. The food was not very good and the potatoes tasted very old.
I dont know why people like this Restaurant. Had a bad experience.
Great place to eat. Food was delicious and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Came here for their AYCE Sunday brunch buffet. This is a great spot if you re looking for a day time special occasion spot with a large group. Price was $45 pre tax. Food was as you d expect from a breakfast buffet. My favourite items were: the chipotle mussels, lasagna, seafood salad, and their omelettes (from the omelet bar!). This was a large restaurant especially given the location. Food was located in two areas - one area was their omelet bar / roast beef bar. The other area was more for self served items. Seating was decently comfortable and drinks (ie. coffee / tea) was unlimited with the brunch.
Most amazing breakfast buffet in the planet! Be careful not to eat too much like I do every time.
This place never disappoints. Wonderful service and food is delicious.
It was good, but I found the brunch buffet very overpriced for what you get. Makes more sense to do a la carte IMHO
Overall just a good spot. Nothing really blew us away but we did enjoy our meal
Excellent food wonderful customer service.
Pretty average and kind of underwhelming venue. Smash burgers on the menu are not smash burgers, you will get a regular burger.
Recently attended a wedding reception here and was absolutely blown away by the service here! The staff made this an incredible experience! Everyone that walked by us offered us food and drinks all the time! Such hardworking people work here. The food was fresh and tasty. The place is myself was warm and cozy.
Service was great, but the food was extremely disappointing. Every dish was either over or under seasoned. Would not recommend.
The standard of their food has dropped tremendously. We waited a really ling time as well before we were served our food. They may be a good breakfast and brunch spot, but their lunch and dinner meals are poor.
Was here a few years ago. It was a great experience. I was back yesterday and it was a great experience again. Even better I might say.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner that was advertised as $30. Well, thats without appetizer or dessert. The whole meal is $48. It was hot and a huge portion, but not tasty! The turkey was some kind of processed turkey roll. The stuffing was soggy and tasteless. The cranberry sauce was Sour. The mashed potato was under a pile of all the other stuff and smeared on the plate but smeared differently on each persons plate - no consistency TD it was supposed to be decoration. We really felt like we were in a cheap dinner for Thanksgiving. Very disappointing.
I have to change my review of this place. I think the luster of the food has gone downhill. Thanksgiving dinner today consisted of plain mashed potatoes, two halves of one, yes one brussel sprout and turkey with cranberry sauce. The mashed potatoes were spread over half of the plate and everything else placed on top of it. This is the second time I have been disappointed now.
Went with my family and enjoyed a fantastic turkey Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings! They even had a Vegetable Wellington for my Mom who was looking for a meat alternative. Im so grateful we came to Hothouse because the food was delicious and high quality. The service was totally on point! Every staff member from hostess to server, and busser to manager was amazingly wonderful. Thank you for your attention to detail and using fresh home-made ingredients. I highly recommend and guarantee we will be back!
Food: To be honest, the food experience was a little disappointing we understand the idea of shrinking the buffet menu is a method to improve its quality. Unfortunately I didn t really see the improvement the roast beef was on the dryer side and by the time I walked my dish back to my table, the meat was already cold. I wanted a small piece of salmon Wellington but the server was too busy making an omelet for someone else so I didn t bother waiting. The salad bar was quite sad they tried making a nice seafood salad but it was just a few pieces of shrimp and calamari over a large bed of mixed greens, which did not seem appealing to us. There were only a handful of cheese and cold cuts selection as well at the charcuterie section. Also, no muffins or danishes to choose from very limited croissants and breakfast baked goods. The only thing that stood out to me was their delicious sticky toffee pudding. Otherwise, the mussels were alright and that was it. Service: we were greeted nicely by the staff upon entering. The server was friendly but kinda disappeared for a good chunk of time however, we weren t bothered by it as our dishes were cleared in a timely manner. Atmosphere: it was a cozy place to be, catching up with family and friends. They continue to have their Sunday live jazz which was quite nice. The restaurant also had a bit of a facelift since our last visit so, everything was visibly clean and well kept. Overall: I don t think my family and I are in a hurry to revisit this place anytime soon. For its price tag, we definitely expected more from them. However, if you are looking for a place to hangout with family and friends for a Sunday morning meetup, it is a great place to be.
The server Sonny was very attentive. The food was tasty. Dietary restrictions: They were able to accommodate a mushroom and onion allergy Food : 5/5 |
Great food and the server was really nice and patient with us.
I had a wonderful time , celebrating my birthday here. The food was great , the pineapple mimosas are refreshing and the atmosphere was pleasant
We tried this place today and unfortunately we were very disappointed. Hosted was lovely, super friendly and made sure we understood that it was a brunch buffet not regular menu. The server initially was ok, but then seemed to disappear, we had to track her down for drinks, refills and ask another server to find her and bring us the bill. The food itself was good. The variety was appealing and everything was tasty. I would have felt more comfortable with the seafood options being on ice vs sitting on the table. Unfortunately we never did get a coffee or tea because our server was MIA. I definitely would not rush back here in a hurry.
The Sunday brunch buffet is great
The mimosas for bunch were a good deal but the service and food quality was poor. We were a large group with reservations ahead of time and it took a long time. 3.5 hours for drinks and mains and we didn t order any appetizers.
Went to Jazz Brunch. Great food, very laid back jazz. Nice location and atmosphere. The brunch is extensive and worth it if you are hungry.
Pretty outdoor area. The food is good, but the price is rather expensive compared to other restaurants. You definitely pay for the location in Old Toronto. The service was quick and attentive, but unfortunately the burger came with onions, even though we had specially ordered them.
A place where you eat properly.
A special mention for the service because it is efficient and attentive. The cuisine is meticulous and the cocktails well made I recommend
Patio was nice. Staff is always friendly and nice. Convenient location. Wasnt hungry, so I just had the pea soup- it was alright. I heard theyre known for their weekend brunch..I guess its time to stop by for that soon.
Amazing food, Fantastic friendly staff. 100% recommend dining there.
Came for lunch on a gorgeous day, fantastic patio! We order lattes, the beef short rib, the chicken skewer dish, and everything was delicious! And treat yourself to one of their espresso martinis because they are out of this world! Highly recommend
The atmosphere is great, surpassed only by the service. I ate the jambalaya and though it was too salty. But maybe its just me. The tiramisu is to die for. Wheelchair accessibility: They placed a ramp on the front steps. I think it is a upon request thing.
Modern and elegant restaurant with a great view of the town. The staff was very attentive and the food was great.
Dietary restrictions: Great understanding for food allergies Food
Very good quality of food, attention and moderate prices.
The food and views from the outdoor patio were a solid 5! I had the salmon with risotto. The salmon was slightly underdone (just how I like it) and fresh, and everything else on the plate was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Unfortunately, it came with the top 2 worst service experienced - and I travel and eat out a lot. Our server barely greeted us when we arrived, and at the end of our meal, we sat with empty/no plates and no water for at least 15 minutes without any kind of acknowledgement as she stood nearby chatting with other staff. It wasn t busy. I had to look around for a while to try and get her attention to ask for the bill. No asking if we wanted dessert or anything else. The lowest tip option was 18%, which is lower than my usual tip, but in this instance it seemed borderline outrageous for the complete lack of service received. So, food was amazing but service was terrible. I d recommend getting it to-go.
My family loves going here for Sunday brunch. Always a great time. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly Food : 5/5 |
As always, the food was very good. The service depends heavily on the person in charge of the table. Some are a bit inattentive, others are very accommodating.
We had a la carte brunch this morning. The service was great, excellent even. The food was disappointing. Theyd used so much vinegar to poach the eggs that we couldnt taste the other ingredients, and the English muffins were nearly impossible to cut through without a steak knife. More attention needs to be paid to quality in the kitchen.
My experience at Hothouse in downtown Toronto was disappointing. The service was subpar from the start. Despite requesting water and indicating they would bring them, our server brought drinks first. She didnt provide cutlery or napkins, and after dropping off our meals, she never returned to our table. We had to track down another staff member to get any assistance. The food didnt make up for the poor service. The breakfast burger was unflavored and extremely small, not worth the money. The St. Lawrence Classic breakfast was average at best. Overall, the lack of attention and underwhelming food left much to be desired.
(French version of the notice below) I loved my dinner at the HotHouse restaurant in Toronto. The food is excellent and the employees are very friendly. I had the 6oz flank steak which was excellent and for dessert the Lemon Cream Shortcake! Im already looking forward to my next trip to Toronto to return! See you soon! Really nice patio seating! Wex had the bruschetta, gnocchi, and bolognese, which were all delicious! Very high quality b food, highly recommend!
Went here with my girlfriend for brunch and must say it was amazing! One of the best patios in the area, food was amazing and drinks to!
Everything was great exceptional service by Kalki
Such an iconic Toronto institution that is struggling. Always phenomenal food accompanied by equally great service. I highly recommend the jambalaya as its been one of my all-time favorite dishes. Support the restaurant if you can.
Good place
Amazing atmosphere..solid food...the service could use a buff..no drinks in cans
Very peaceful service, great food
Hot House has been my go to place for over 20yrs and it never disappoints. Good food, reasonable prices and great service.
Great food great service
Love this place, great date spot and beautiful patio, fair prices good service.
Server was pleasant but not well trained. Server was interested in taking orders but never bothered to provide cutlery and napkins.
We are visiting our son here, and that s why he takes us where he often goes. We like everything. The service staff is very polite and friendly. They work quickly and efficiently. Thanks a lot. Health to you all.
Pork ribs as a main dish, and chips. If I remember correctly, the fries stopped at my host across the street, but fortunately the ribs were in extra-large portions (for $3 more they give you a double portion... from memory from $17 to $20... dont shoot me if I err). A beer each, and with $35 each including tip we all left feeling full. Canadian dollars... Id say 25... P.S. The photos were taken in the area, because there are many nice things within a radius of 200/300 meters. Unfortunately I didnt photograph the food, and what do you do with the restaurant tables? :)
The food was delicious and well-prepared. I enjoyed my Frutti De Mare. However, the wait time for the food was a bit longer than expected. Overall, a great dining experience.
Classic ladies who lunch place. Go for Sunday brunch!
Casual dining or go just for lunch is ok
Stunning
I would definitely go back to Hot House for both the quality of food and service as well as their ambiance I went with my colleagues for a team lunch and everyone was happy with their food, I ordered their jambalaya which was really scrumptious and delicious. So since google doesn t allow me to write a second review, I wanted to uodate my review and say that I went back to Hot House this week and sat in the patio with my friends, the food I ordered was Bolognese pasta which we shared with Bruschetta and fries. Everything was delicious and well priced
I and my daughter had severe heartburn and reflux with diarrhea after eating there. Never again. Food
It used to be great. However lately, food did not taste good at all. Service was not welcoming. No more going there anymore. Food : 1/5
Went here with my boyfriend, was greeted nicely and we were sat to our table. We had asked the waitress what she would recommend between our options as the food is quite expensive. I ended up getting the lasagna and he ended up getting the cavatelli pasta. The lasagna I received was unfortunately extremely bland, and cannot justify the price of $26, plus tip plus tax. I honestly recommend getting a big dish of Costco lasagna for $26 that can be split for a family of 4, as even that is more tasty and savory than the one at this restaurant unfortunately. The cavatelli pasta that my boyfriend ended up getting was just as disappointing, with it being extremely flavorless and the waitress asked if he wanted extra chicken, however she did not inform us about the extra $8 upcharge that comes with getting the extremely dry and bland chicken. Such a shame as the patio of the restaurant is beautiful and very scenic, I just wish the food here would reflect that. Overall, I would go here only for a drink and to enjoy the view, food was subpar at best.
Great food (Farro Salad as a vegetarian option, Korean Chicken, Chicken Burger and Cobb Salad). We came at a late lunch time on a Friday and were seated right away. Great atmosphere, patio seating option and great service.

I have been here before. The atmosphere and venue space was pleasant and open. However it was according to the server a fairly slow day except it picked up quite a bit for the dinner rush at 6pm. Being served a meal took over 30 minutes as the kitchen was extremely busy. When the meal for 5 people eventually came overall the food was very good but one meal was cold. After waiting so long we did not want to send it back.
Had dinner at the Hot House on Church & Front Street on Sunday 7th July 2024. As the weather was comfortable I opted to sit on the outside patio which was nicely shielded from the Street by flower planters. Though I ordered the Chicken Vegetable soup as my starter, I was soon thereafter told that the kitchen had run out of it (7pm) so changed my starter to a small Cesar Salad instead. My main meal was the Seafood Linguine which tasted very nice and had a bit of spice to it. (The other main course at my table was supposed to be Penne with Chicken on it, yet it arrived without the chicken!). The Hot House in the St Lawrence Market Neighbourhood is great place to eat when you dont want fast food but yet you dont want a formal meal either.
Amazing spot! Great brunch, drinks and atmosphere! 10/10
Went for the Sunday brunch. It was nice, but there were not a lot of options for vegans.
Food was very good. Service was friendly
Was a fantastic experience. The food was fresh and delicious. Staff was very good. Food
I was really looking forward to trying this place out but was quite disappointed by the food. The service and atmosphere were great though. We got the fried Korean chicken bites, which seemed to be less chicken and more coating, and the dressing was too tangy and could have used a squeeze of lemon. We got the Short Rib Papardelle which was also quite underwhelming in flavour. The texture of the pasta was perfect but the sauce and seasoning were lacking and the texture of the shredded beef was also not very appetizing. I appreciated the waiters friendly and courteous service.
Best food in Toronto
FAN TAS TIC Sunday brunch!!!
Great drinks, good food, excellent service. $11.00 Margarita Wednesdays!! Food
This has to be the best restaurant Ive ever been to. The food was absolutely delicious. In our group not one person left a scrap on their plate. We all ordered something different and it was all great.
A quiet place to eat! Consistently good food and kind serving staff.
Beautiful restaurant, but more importantly, beautiful people who work here. Food was delicious!
amazing dish highly recommend
Cozy place
Everything OK. Food really good, service friendly - a little more attention would have been even better. There were only a few tables occupied.
Worst dinner ever . On Sunday May 26th, after spending the day visiting Doors Open Toronto, my wife and I, along with her friend, decided to head to the Hot House Restaurant for dinner as it had become our first choice as we were occasional visitors in the past. We arrived at approximately 6:30 p.m. and were seated immediately as most of the tables were available. Approximately 10 minutes later we placed our order then waited for 45 minutes or so before my wife and her friend said what I was thinking, that is What s taking so long? and Where was our dinner? -- the latter question being directed at our server who said that she would check. About 5 minutes later the first 2 dinners arrived with the person serving the dinners saying sorry when advising that the ribs would take a couple of minutes. After another 12 minutes or so, my short ribs finally arrived but not before their absence proved to be a distraction to my wife and her friend as I just sat there while they neared the end of their meals. Once I finished I told the greeter that I wanted to check out a process which took the better part of another fifteen minutes with no explanation or apology from the waitress who served us. To make matters worse, our friend commented to me on 2 occasions that we were never served bread despite there being a station where she observed them to be prepping break directly across from us. What started out as an Anniversary dinner at what had become our Go To restaurant in the area turned into my wife s Worst dinner ever comment on the way home. A disappointing experience to say the least.
Was here for a party of around 120 people 2 days ago. Food was amazing (butternut squash ravioli) and so were drinks (mezcal Margaritas for me but also tasted strawberry bourbon smash which was awesome). And service was excellent. Def recommend for great food and service for a big party event.
Initially we were having a delightful afternoon on the patio, until a.manager possibly the owner ,was overheard demanding that our waitress justify our presence at our table, when I had already ordered my second drink and my compangion a third appetizer. Needless to say we wont be returning, and for the record we had already purchased enough that with tip we paid over $100.The waitstaff were delightful, and was looking forward to giving them a.great review... but the clueless money hungry management killed the whole experience.
The tip starts at 18%. Otherwise everything is OK
Pretty good Canadian food.
What a great experience!! Highly recommended
Good food
This restaurant was good, I came here to eat before a show and the food was excellent. I decided to try something new and had the beef short rib with the sweet potato mash, usually I dont like trying new things when I am starving but have been here before and know the food is good, the short rib was excellent. Dessert was a great addition as well, as the presentation was as beautiful as it was delicious.
Ate here again recently and so many of the mussels were dead and broken, I ended up eating one of the bad ones and Ive been stuck on the toilet and throwing up since. Im not sure what happened to this restaurant, but Im certainly not coming back again. This used to be my favourite restaurant but judging by the recent negative reviews Im not the only one whos gotten sick from their food. Previous review: Have eaten here for years through the different management changes, still a wonderful experience, AND a dog friendly one at that! Menu hasnt changed in a while, but it doesnt truly need to, because somehow its just never boring.
Hothouse is great for its atmosphere and buffet. The chef is nice, and its a good spot if you want to listen to live music. There are lots of different locations. Its cozy, crowded, and perfect for family gatherings. Its ideal for having lots of family and friends at one big table.
You will always enjoy your food. Doesn t matter which cuisine you order from, their chef will do perfect. And it s not just about food, their bar tender is a pro too. Their staff are nice. Because of its location the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. From breakfast to the dinner you ll enjoy your meal.
My wife and I used to go to the legendary Sunday brunches when we lived in town 15 years ago. We were in town during the week and stopped by for lunch and did not disappoint. We enjoyed the fresh air of the patio and the service was just the right amount of attention and we were out in a reasonable amount of time (we had only an hour). Food was delicious.
This is a great place for breakfast. They have great options for people who like eggs or bread or fruits. They also have good drinks. This place is crowded and has a good vibe. This is a family place. Many people come with their family and dogs ; if you want to go out and eat have a great breakfast on weekend in the round downtown this is a great place
Eaten here many times, everything is outstanding including the food, service and atmosphere! The Jimbalaya is a hot favourite with my colleagues and me!
3.5 stars They have very nice outdoor seating areas and a pretty good brunch menu. The food was okay - a pile of fluffy pancakes with berries and whipped cream ($20 a bit steep). Quinoa burger and fries okay, ravioli was fine. However, the service was not particularly friendly (i.e. pleases and thank yous), and it wasnt like they were busy. Didnt feel particularly welcomed or appreciated. Not thanked by staff as leaving restaurant, and they were just standing there. Hope this can be improved. Also, as I was looking through past Google reviews I noticed that there were no replies for the management. This shows a lack of concern for customer satisfaction.
The food is good Parking: It s downtown Toronto, so you need to find paid parking Food : 5/5 |
Great ambiance, average service. Food was subpar. The Jerk cauliflower is over battered and too heavy on Turmeric. The chicken sandwich is a great idea just a bit too dry.
Nice food, big portions, nice staff and good ambiance.
Food taste was ok.. Cost was a little high... Place was good with birds...a little crowded... Pasta quantity is high.. Chicken burrito rice quantity was very less.. Mentioned spicy but still wasnt spicy the Thai bowl noodles.. Service was good ...
The Hot House is always exceptional from the food to the service to smart and relaxed atmosphere. I almost always eat here when I am in Toronto. Close to Union and to lots of theatres.
Live band
Excellent experience
Poor service. Meal appears to have been thrown together with excess sauce. I ordered the Jambalaya. My wife had half ribs and fries
Never disappointed when income here. Good atmosphere and not too loud.
Was introduced to this place by a friend who goes here annually for mothers Day and her birthday brunch and the food is exceptional, the staff are very friendly and professional and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing.
Great service, plating and food exceptional!
I have been going to HotHouse for many years. Their service and quality of food is always consistent. It would be great if menu options change more frequently.
Food was delicious, excellent service, would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
We were somewhat disappointed in our experience this morning. After having travelled nearly 70km to reach the restaurant the overall experience was mediocre. Pros: * the server was pleasant * the restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance was very nice. * the deal on the mimosas was great and tasty Cons: * the food was brought out incongruently. One of the meals came late and after the rest of us finished eating. My father had his meal last and was starving at this point. * the kids beverages came late and not in kids cups with lids of some sort. By this point my kids were super frustrated and thirsty. * the portions on certain breakfast entrees were small and unacceptable. For example: the pancakes or French toast - no protein like eggs. This is not breakfast! It needs protein and not just carbs. * I ordered the chorizo omelette and while it was delicious, the portion was small and most of the plate was potatoes and toast - not even a tomato or avocado. The toast on top of everything was burnt. I love their usual Sunday brunch buffets but their a la cart needs work! I highly recommend that the head chef sit down and with the owner and come up with a menu where value matches quality, quantity and price. I usually love this place but after today would I recommend? Probably not! That said if you get a table for the brunch buffet -give it a go.
Made reservations for Mother s Day dinner expecting the menu, but the restaurant decided last minute to extend the breakfast buffet which was not communicated to the party in addition to having a deposit. People in the party with dietary restrictions that anticipated a menu where they can order their own food. For such a busy day you d think that there d be timely communication as the reservations would have been made prior to the actual day. Dietary restrictions: Few gluten free options for the buffet
Decent food, a little pricy but took forever for food to arrive during relatively empty lunch.
This sticky toffee pudding might top our list .toffee sauce cleverly sandwiched in between the layers of sponge. Icing was unexpected but didn t make it too sweet.
I visited Hothouse and I was extremely let down by the customer service. Despite hearing good things, my visit wasnt great. We ordered the French toast with mixed berry compote and mushroom Benedict. When the food arrived, the Benedict was the original which includes pork. We sent it back and shared the French toast while waiting for the right Benedict. The French toast was nice and the Chantilly cream really brought the dish together. Once the correct mushroom Benedict arrived, we were about to dig in but noticed multiple hairs in the dish. When I informed the staff, they nonchalantly took the plate. Nobody from management bothered to apologize or acknowledge it, which was pretty frustrating. When I raised my concerns with the manager, Arife, he took zero accountability and offered us a gift card for next time. Why would I come back? The whole hair-in-the-food thing makes me worry about the kitchens cleanliness. Overall, I wasnt impressed. They need to work on their customer service and cleanliness for a better dining experience.
Came on a busy Sunday (Mothers day) and the rate per person is $5 more than the usual buffet rate. It was unfortunate that they had several issues in the womens washroom during one of their busiest days. Only 2 out of 8 stalls were usable. Anyway, the food was delicious and we have our next reservation booked! On that note, highly recommend making reservations for your visit.
Theyre definitely not concerned with catering to vegans, but the rest of our party enjoyed the food and variety. Our reservation seemed to be only a loose commitment, lol. Sooooo loud in the section we were in. If you have good hearing, ear plugs might make your time more enjoyable.
Half price wine night is a great deal. The food is good.
Nice food and very friendly staff
Love love love their Sunday brunch with live jazz trio! Always a family favourite
Good food, fun atmosphere.
The food used to be better.
good place for brunch!
Had drinks here and it took a while to get. We got fries and sausages which took a while to come to the table. I had a Smokey grapefruit margarita and there was too much smoke in it.
We went to Sunday brunch. Food excellent right by St Lawrence Market so great area to be
