940 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON M4M 1Z2, Canada
Just opened our new location on 940 Gerard st E
I tried to give this place a chance since they are local and I do like the food ( yes nostalgia food type/ places ) but I have an issue every time and I can't really seem to communicate with the staff ( shy introvert with conflict issues). I'm recognized but not greeted. Have been in a couple of times over the last 2 weeks and have had issues each time. But didn't realize until getting home and checking the food. Nothing major just maybe reading the menu wrong ( both burger and hot dogs had older/stale toppings and drinks are not included with the Saturday combo which caused a payment issue which I wasn't made aware of until the next time I stopped in. I tried to correct it but could not understand the issue so I pay in cash now. NOT worth it to return and WILL NOT recommend this location to friends and family .
I stopped by this spot out of curiosity, and I’m so glad I did. The smoked meat was tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The rye bread and mustard made it even better. The staff was friendly, and the cozy atmosphere made me feel right at home. Definitely a place I’ll be visiting again soon!
Because it was our first time, they let us try a sliced of the smoked meat even though we're committed to buying a smoked meat on rye bread. Nice quick bite until we visit montreal again. Definitely be back for second n third when in the area. I'm looking forward to their downtown location.
paid around $27 for two mediocre sandwiches. was not tasty and there was barely any chicken in the wrap. not recommended.
I had a delicious smoked meat sandwich, complete with coleslaw, and garlic dill pickles. The small was actually large, and around $10.00!!!! Excellent!!!
Should have read the reviews before i tried the food beef patty was cold wings were cold nuggets cold They were tiny wings and nuggets tasted like they were pre cooked then frozen or bought from food basics then re heat I work right around the corner soo no reason why my foood should be cold very dissatisfied
i went to this place on a monday night, it has a 24 hour sign on the outside, however after spending 10 minutes looking over the menu and deciding to go in to order something for myself i was told that all they had was beef patty - and when i looked to see there was a singular burnt beef patty that was almost completely black and clearly inedible. i was disappointed because i saw they had a 20 piece chicken nugget for 10$ and i was really looking forward to that, especially because it’s impossible to find such a good deal on chicken nuggets now a days. the guy was also very nice when i asked him if they were still serving food.
Looking for a sandwich and all I got was disappointed. The lady serving me was fine but I believe the manager or owner need to rearrange the steps in which the food is arranged to save time. The sandwiches are small and pitiful, especially for the amount they'll charge you. This place really needs to consider a menu or recipe overhaul as nothing I could taste in these sandwiches tasted original or authentic. It was more like something bought from the convenience store right across from them. There's really only one thing to save this place and it's a complete overhaul of the way they run the place.
Good food
Very good and friendly staff
Good vibe, great food, great service I guess local should check out this joint Food
Excellent sandwich! Best smoked meat in the east end of the city!!
This place has amazing food
Graet food owner very nice
best Montreal smoke meat without having to go to Montréal!!
Very good food and good service
Everything perfect.
Not 24 hours like all their signs. Not even past 1030 on a weekend like their Google hours
Corned beef is horrible! It tastes and looks like canned meat... Disappointing. I dont recommend eating there.
disgusting food. this is no way authentic montreal smoked meat. so salty
Their Montréal smoked meat is not authentic. The amount of beef included is pathetic and its thinkly sliced like cold cut. Nothing about this sandwhich is Montréal style smoked meat
The meat here is indescribable. Perfectly cooked, seasoned nicely, and they give good portions of meat
Giving one star because I was all set to pickup a couple of Montreal Smoked Meat sandwiches but it was not to be. I was looking for something Im very familiar with (Having lived in Montreal and knowing Schwartzs very well) Problem was, when I found the page for this place, it said OPEN but when I went in, the guy in the convenience side of the storefront told me theyre CLOSED today. So, I guess Ill have to roll the die the NEXT time I want a sandwich. UPDATE: So, I decided to give them another chance and went back today (Tuesday Feb. 6) but guess what? Yep, you guessed it, they were closed TODAY also. Whats going on, is this some kind of JOKE? The guy at the convenience side of the store didnt know anything either.
I tried to go here at 8 pm. We drove from Scarborough to try it. Google says they are open until 10. This restaurant shares a store front with a convenience store, and the nice people at the cash said they are closing at 6 now 4 hours before their posted close time! Ridiculous.
Sandwiches were decent but the pickle is small and the coleslaw is bland and fries are unsalted but fried really well. Theres no actual kitchen area, all done with what looks like table top appliances. The girl working was very nice and friendly but seemed either a little overwhelmed or distracted by the steps she follows, the guy working for the video game store part was being loud with two of his friends. All in all its kind of meh. Likely wont return.
