It was a great dining experience - the food was delicious and the service was great! The crab and mackerel were some of the best we’ve had. The restaurant also offered a few special items which made our holiday dinner even more special.

I found this place on the Michelin website. I like how they source out local produce, and fresh seafood. The menu changes depending on what they find. Reservation is required. On November 11, was the first day for the December booking. My husband stuck by his computer that day to make sure he got one. lol Moving forward, I found it a was nice touch to add the "happy birthday" on the menu. It felt special. It was a tasting menu, 7 course meal for $162.50 per person. First day of no tax too! We had the following: We started off with muscles and I can't remember what the other dish was. 1. Crab and Citrus (The blood orange was amazing. Very sweet. The crab was very fresh. It went very well with the daikon). 2. Mackerel and Cabbage (I'm not a fan of mackerel, but this one was so soft, and it just melts in your mouth. The cabbage has a nice crunch to it. Good combination. I'll take 10 more of those please! lol) 3. Scallop and Potato (The sauce was a bit salty, but the it was a nice dish overall). 4. Sweetbread and Currant (First time having sweetbread and it was actually very nice. The currants, and pine nuts went very well with it). 5. The bread was nice and soft. We received another one. 😁 6. Lamb and Squash (We thought the lamb was a bit overcooked. It was a bit chewy). 7. Cheese and Apricot (Love the apricots, and the cheese..it's an acquired taste. It does go very well with the apricots). 8. Birthday cake (Light!) 9. Almond and Cherry (Love it!) 10. Sunchoke and Apple (Strong espresso taste, but it was good!) 11. Plume Chardonnay. In the beginning, it was a bit on the dry side, but it opened up throughout the dinner. The service was amazing. Never experienced a 4.5hr dinner before, but we believe that because they knew one of our family member was the driver, they probably wanted the alcohol to go away. Thank you for this amazing birthday dinner! It was a very memorable experience. Definitely worth a Michelin star, and we will return.

Second time here this year. A great spot in my opinion, the bar menu continues to change regularly at an irregular pace 😆 Great execution with a priority on local (but some out of region items). The cabbage was incredible and then the Iberico pork was my next favourite. I’d say the whitefish wasn’t my favourite kind of fish & cook style but I can appreciate the attention to detail and execution: skin was crispy, fish incredibly tender, good balance of the sauce. We previously had halibut on a different visit and that was divine! Can’t wait for my next visit.

Lovely spot for fine dining. The bar menu is concise with only a few options, which I liked. Some favorites were the pork (iberico) and fish (with a miso-based sauce). The staff is super attentive and friendly, and the overall vibes were intimate. Good place for a special occasion.

Odd-numbered parties are limited to bar seating and a la carte menu. We were told they are fairly similar to what is included in the tasting menu and won't be missing much. They were nice to accommodate us and adjust the portions to fit 3 people and do wine pairing with it. Everything was well executed.

This restaurant surpassed all our expectations! Reservations can be tricky, so be sure to book in advance, but it’s easy to see why. The small, intimate atmosphere features a minimalist design, emphasizing the quality of the dining experience. While the cocktail menu is limited, the wine selection is extensive. We sampled seven carefully curated dishes, each offering unique flavors that engaged every aspect of our palates. The presentation was stunning, and all the dishes were farm-to-table. The service was incredibly attentive. Beyond the beautifully tasting dishes, the staff worked seamlessly together. Our water glasses were never empty, the wine was always topped up, and plates and cutlery were constantly refreshed. Even the napkins were meticulously folded whenever we stepped away from the table. Absolutely blown away from this spot!

WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever tasted anything so delicious. We had an exceptional experience here. This multi-course meal was one for the books. Usually there’s at least one dish I don’t like in a multi-course meal but every single plate at Restaurant 20 Victoria was mouth-watering magic. The detail in each dish and the flavour profile truly created magic in my mouth. It was heaven. It featured the freshest ingredients (shout out to white lily farms!) and the perfectly cooked and seasoned fish and meats. And of course, the incredible food was paired with extraordinary service. Each staff member was so knowledgeable and kind. If you are looking to have your taste buds romanced - THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. I will be back and bringing more people! Hats off to the chef!

We enjoyed the tasting menu and the wine pairings. Overall, both were great. Was a bit disappointed there was no wine pairing to accompany dessert. Something I really enjoyed about the restaurant is the unique set up. I'm not sure that it was the full kitchen, but there was a kitchen / prep station in the middle of the restaurant. Everyone was calm and the atmosphere reflected that. Bonus points for expertly navigating a dairy restriction (lactose). In my experience, restaurants tend to fail as soon as they can't include dairy. Everything however was done very well - at no point did I feel like I was missing out or that my food was an afterthought.

Good service, good food, and a good vibe. The room struck a nice balance: lively enough to feel energetic, but quiet enough to hold a conversation without yelling. It has a classy atmosphere, but without the over-the-top glitz and pretense you might find in some high-end restaurants. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. My only criticism may be that the Michelin star seems to attract a fair share of self-proclaimed food critics. Put your phones away and enjoy the meal. Overall, a solid recommendation.

This is the worst Michelin one-star restaurant I have ever experienced. The service attitude was absolutely terrible. I clearly informed the waiter today that I am allergic to mushrooms, yet they still served me a dish containing mushrooms. When I brought this up, the waiter not only refused to apologize but also flatly denied that I had ever mentioned my allergy. Their attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional. Moreover, the quality of the dishes was very mediocre, far below the standard expected of a Michelin one-star restaurant. I cannot understand how this restaurant received such a rating. With this level of service and food, it is definitely not worth anyone s time or mone

Everything we wanted in a restaurant. Although decor was minimalistic the food and service was next level. Attentive, real service without feeling pretentious. Great conversations with staff and owner, feeling like you were dining at a close friends home that has known you for years...and the food..next level. Chef Julie touches every plate. Her passion for her food was evident with every mouthful. Great unique flavour combinations, perfectly prepared, elegantly presented. Clean, exquisite execution. Owner was humble and grateful. My partner and I reserved a table weeks in advance for our anniversary and even paid a $100 deposit. However, two days before our special night, we were informed that the restaurant had double-booked for a wedding and had to cancel our reservation. They offered us a refund yet, we havent received the $100. We tried calling and left multiple messages, clearly stating that we simply wanted our deposit refunded. Unfortunately, no one has contacted us, and it seems impossible to contact anyone at the restaurant. Leaving messages has been futile, and we feel completely ignored. It s frustrating that the restaurant charges customers for last-minute cancellations, yet there are no consequences or accountability when they cancel on us at the last minute. We just want our deposit back, but the poor customer service has turned this experience into a major disappointment.

Came here a few months ago, and we had a table by the bar overlooking the kitchen. We ordered: Albacore Tuna Beef Tartare Lobster Tagliatelle Pork Chop One of the softest Pork Chops and freshest Lobster Tagliatelle Ive ever had with homemade pasta of course. The beef tartare was light and refreshing with the snap peas. The alvacor tuna was fresh, but was actually way too fishy after the cured flavour.

We dined at the bar (a la carte)--his favorite was the halibut dish, mine the duck, but we enjoyed each course immensely. Chris was an amazing host, and we enjoyed talking to each of the chefs who delivered our dishes--special shout out to Richard and the habanadas! This was a dining experience we wont soon forget, and we look forward to our next trip to Toronto to try the full tasting menu.

I really wanted to love this place but it fell far short of the price charged. Tasting menu cost 195 inclusive of service fee , and thats at least $50 too expensive. I feel like we had the menu was just changed when we had it on Sept 25, 2024 but 3 out of the 7 courses were fish (3/4 meat courses) which didnt provide a lot of variety By far the best thing on the menu was a starter that wasnt even listed. Shiso leaf wrapped bite which was super complex and refreshing (regret not taking a picture). Ox tail was a close second. All fish dishes were exceptionally ordinary along with an incredibly bland and offensive palette cleanser made of radish that I couldnt even finish. Again, I can chalk this up to a change of menu but honestly a rotating menu should have more creativity and variation and not rely on freshness of fish. This is not a sushi restaurant. This is just another restaurant that got too cocky and comfortable after getting Michelin recognized. Also the interior atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired, but service was relentless and excellent.

The food was good, I liked most of the combinantions, perfectly harmonized, thats all cool. However, we couldnt take a seat on time, had to wait around 10 minutes despite of our booking, and we got a very small table next to the wall, where the AC was too strong. No shame, but the tables were actually that ridiculously close to each other that our waiters couldnt fit in between. They were nice tho.

This place should not be a Michelin restaurant. We have tried a lot of tasting menus around the world, and this place had mediocre food at best. Found some rotten pieces of lettuce and vegetables in our food, so we had to keep sending our food back. The restaurant acted as if it was nothing. The vibe and atmosphere honestly aren t unique. Boring white cloth over tables, boring presentation, not even Instagram worth. The food is very fish forward and so similar across the board that I don t remember a thing we ate. Nothing stood out much and everything was truly forgettable. I would save my money and visit a Michelin Guide restaurant instead. There are mannnny more restaurants in the city that are memorable, amazing quality, locally foraged, and without the price tag and the pretension.

Before reviewing the food, I want to mention that if you re coming here just because it earned a Michelin star, I d suggest reconsidering. After dining here, I seriously question Michelin s credibility for awarding this restaurant a star. I ve eaten at many Michelin-starred restaurants and written reviews for distinctive places, so I feel qualified to comment. This is the first restaurant that s made me truly question Michelin s standards. First, the restaurant doesn t allow odd-numbered reservations. If someone in your party can t attend, they still charge the full price. One of our friends had to cancel, so we ended up with three people eating four meals. While this sounded nice initially, the food was so mediocre that it became a burden. The dishes were poorly seasoned, and I even questioned the freshness of the ingredients. It was like mid-level culinary school fare, not something worthy of a Michelin star. What made it worse was that the service was equally mediocre. Our water glasses sat empty for a long time before being refilled, and my unfinished bread was taken away without any inquiry. The service felt cold and indifferent, and the explanations of the dishes were lackluster. The overall presentation of the dishes was sloppy. I ll now focus on reviewing some of the specific dishes that truly puzzled me: Tomato and Crab: There were bits of crab shell in the crab meat, and eating the crab on its own was extremely salty. When mixed together with the tomato, the flavor was passable but just passable. However, no one explained that the ingredients were meant to be eaten together. We had to figure that out ourselves after realizing how underwhelming it was. Niagara Gold: We were served a four-person portion, consisting of six slices of cheese. The cheese itself was unremarkable, and it was paired with an overly salty salad, which I found to be a baffling combination. There was no explanation from the server about how to enjoy the dish. Normally, cheese would be served with fruit or jam before dessert. This restaurant, however, decided to innovate much to our amusement. None of us thought this pairing belonged here. Our guess was that the chef intended for us to put the cheese on the salad and crumble the accompanying crackers over the top, but when we tried this, it tasted terrible. Dessert: There were two desserts to choose from, and we ordered two of each. If the previous courses were simply bad or too plain, the desserts were a disaster. Upon serving, an indescribable fishy smell wafted from the plates I suspect it was from eggs, though I m not sure. Both desserts were dense, wet cakes with different flavors. However, they were so similar in texture and stickiness that we had to drink water just to get them down. The cloying sweetness, along with a slight hint of artificial flavoring, was overwhelming. There was one good thing: the complimentary bread was delicious. But I will never come back to this restaurant, and I recommend others avoid it as well. I genuinely don t understand why this place is so popular. There are so many excellent restaurants in this neighborhood with far better options. To be fair, the price is relatively low ($145.84 per person), so perhaps you shouldn t expect too much but maybe we expected too much.

I like how the chef can meticulously utilize local fresh produce and combine them into savory bites. I highly recommend this restaurant for tourists who want to experience the Canadian flavor. I will return to support a good local business and explore chef Julies different creations. A few tips to optimize your dining experience here: 1. Always ask if you are unsure what you get on your plate and how to best enjoy the dish. 2. Read the Tock booking page carefully before you book your seats, the cost of dining, service fees and important pieces of info are clearly declared there. 2. The restaurant is quite small and can get clustered and noisy when operating at full capacity. You can book an early time slot(5.30 pm slot) and get the corner seat if you want more privacy and dine with fewer people and less noise 3. Get a drink to pair with your foods, you can ask the restaurant for their recommendations. They also have a list of non alcoholic drinks that I find very good. 4. If you often eat light, less salty foods, you can find certain dish salty. I suggest talking to the server before you start your meal and ask if the restaurant can reduce or skip the coarse salt sprinkled on top of your dish.

Had a perfect evening dinner here with my husband and in-laws. The restaurant sent an email in advance to enquire about food dislikes and were able to accomodate one of our partygoers food dislikes. Its disarming walking into 20 Victoria. The doors open to high tops and banquette seating, only enough for diners. The small dining room is past a short hallway flanked on one side by the open, diminutive kitchen. Theres a smallness here that feels so unusual compared to the large format restaurants in the area. Yet, the tables are spaced apart. 20 Victoria creates a median in the dining room so that every diner can comfortably get to their seat. You feel apart from other tables even in the small space. How often do restaurants choose to make dining more comfortable by removing tables? You dont notice the kitchen unless you want to. Had my partner not turned me around to ask about something in there, I would have forgotten it was there in the quiet dining room. It is remarkably open; there is no glass partition, no open shelving separating you from the staff. They are careful not to bang things. The amuse bouche was a bite of spot prawn, pickle and chai flowers. I remarked to my partner how perfect the spot prawn was. It was soft, almost melting. He nodded, happy in agreement. Our first course came quickly after. Three large pieces of tuna in a plum sauce with minced shallots. It was magnificent. The plum sauce was acidic. The pieces of tuna were large enough to let the clean taste of fish and fat linger after the plum dissipated. The shallot provided crunch and heat. The second was gai lan with a mustard cream sauce. The char on the greens was welcome but the sauce was the star. The little mustard seeds popped and bit back. The final course was veal with sweet breads. Again, delightful. The vermouth paired with the pistachio tart for dessert was novel. It smelled of ozone and fresh cut grass and spring. I left a little buzzed and overly satisfied. I asked my partner if he d want to go back for the seven course some night. He looked at me as if I was stupid. Why would you even ask? Of course I would

Been trying to hit up 20 Victoria for a while, but the reservations on Tock is just ridiculously hard to get, and being a noob and NOT knowing how this restaurant is set up caused me to book a Bar seating instead of the Set Course seating. This mistake was not made aware by my significant-other, until AFTER we sat down at our reservation. All-in-all, this was definitely one of the happiest mistakes that I have made. 20 Victoria, if I were to use some keywords for a TLDR version.. For the food, they will be Clean, Light, and Explosive; for the ambience, they will be Cozy, friendly, home. Food wise, it is actually hard to describe the food as clean and light while explosive in flavors. Normally, these words dont go together, but the Head Chef - Julie, definitely created dishes that warrants the use of these words. We had a bit of a late reservation, at 8:45pm, Chris (who is the owner and also the host at our table), went on to explain that normally 3-4 dishes would be good for two to share. And we took that recommendation and started with the Halibut, Snowcrab and Greens. Preparation was a bit of a wait, but when the first dish landed -- the Snowcrab, it was light and bursting with flavors, we especially loved the daikon as it was fresh marinated thru and thru with savoury sauces. Then the Halibut with the beef au-jus, which I described to Chris -- that its fish identifying as a cow. We chuckled but the halibut was perfectly poached and topped off with the umami flavor of the beef stock... it was simply delicious. Veggies are usually ordered in our family because of doctors orders.. but Greens at 20 Victoria is just the perfect blend of savoury flavors and dressing. It was mid-way thru our meal we decided to order the Beef Tartare and the Chicken. The Chicken thigh was thinly sliced, with perfectly crispy skins topped with morel mushroom with a sweet & salty green sauce -- which I dont know what it was but I did try to lick the plate clean. Beef Tartare was out of this world with the cucumbers atop, making the dish -- which is traditionally heavy -- to be airy and light and being the foody I am, I ended up owning this entire dish when my partner decides to walk off to the powder room. If you are keeping count, we definitely went over the 3-4 dish recommendation, and the count is now 5... and the best is yet to come -- desserts! We are mindful of our figures so we opt for 1 sweet dish -- the Crepe Suzette, its crepe topped with oranges and Orange Liqueur flambe... the outcome? A rich, tangy dessert that is not over-the-top sweet and sugary that will put the guilt over the fabulous meal I just had. Food again, is amazing and 20 Victoria definitely is the rightful owner of a Michelin 1-Star. Restaurant is cozy, and family like. The open concept kitchen leaves nothing hidden, you know exactly who is handling your dish and when it make from the chefs prep table to your dining table. Food, is phenomenal and highly recommended. 20 Victorias food have impressed me so much that its one of the first Michelins restaurants that I will revisit in a few weeks. I was also made aware the menu changes quite often, so next time round, I may have a completely different food experience. High hopes is in-store to impress me once more. Fully looking forward to it.

I had been looking forward to dining here for the better part of two years and my expectations were very high. I am so happy to say that the team here met them and more. Service was impeccable - extremely thoughtful and attentive but not pretentious or fussy. We asked for a wine recommendation and were rewarded with three options to choose from - all in a range under our stated budget. Each course was wonderful. A perfectly balanced mix of flavours, the perfect portion size, and each complimented the previous dish. The room has 22 seats. They could clearly squeeze in another 10 like most other restaurants would but the choice not to made it feel both intimate and private. I immediately shared my experience with everyone I know who might be interested, even if I was a little conflicted about that jeopardizing my ability to grab another reservation in the future.

Food and wine were nice. Unfortunately, service was not on par with a restaurant of this price. They served one of our dishes to a different table before realizing they made a mistake, one of the servers was complaining about other Toronto restaurants with the group next to us, and they added an extra drink to our bill. Lastly, they emailed and asked about dietary restrictions and if we were celebrating. They seemed to have ignored this and served us a dish with the ingredient we asked to avoid, and did not acknowledge the celebration.

I was very excited to try this place as people have raved about it and I love a great tasting menu. Unfortunately, we could only get a reservation in the front area where we couldnt order the tasting menu but it ended up being a good thing because as we began eating we noticed the chef, at the pass, continuously taste food with the same spoon. I couldnt believe my eyes, she would taste the food, put the spoon in a container with water and then take the same spoon for the next persons dish over and over again. We cancelled our dinner and went over to Alobar.

Most of the courses in the tasting menu were well balanced, but a few dishes were a bit simple and unidimensional. They forgot about our friend s dietary restriction despite asking about it minutes before. Service was somewhat inconsistent as our main server seemed very disengaged, while the other servers that tended to our table were much more interested in our dining experience. Overall, a good dining experience with some room for improvement. Price was also appropriate in a world of inflated prices thanks to the Michelin guide. I would be happy to return and give them another try.

Restaurant 20 Victoria has taken the seat at the top of my list for the best restaurants in Toronto. With a seafood heavy menu, they blended flavors that wowed me plate after plate. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the wine pairing added elevated notes to my dining experience. I highly recommend Restaurant 20 Victoria to anyone whos looking for the perfect meal. The atmosphere is intimate and the service is excellent. They serve the perfect amount of food where you question whether you can eat your dessert, but after one taste you clear the plate. I recently dined at 20 Victoria in Toronto, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. The ambiance was exquisite, setting the perfect mood for a memorable meal. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes that surpassed my expectations in taste and presentation. Each bite was a journey of flavors, leaving me in awe of the culinary expertise behind the creations. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience. If I were to choose a place for my last meal, 20 Victoria would undoubtedly be my top pick. Its a culinary gem that deserves every bit of its five-star rating. Also they printed a menu for our 25th anniversary on top which made something so simple so sweet.

They forgot to give us 1 course. We had the 4 course tasting menu and unfortunately, they forgot to give us the course with the cheese and crackers. The restaurant is quite small and we had to book a reservation ahead of time, so I was surprised that they forgot us. That aside, service wasn t bad per se. The waiter who was managing our table was very kind and nice. However, we saw that other tables had a chef visit them to check in on quality and taste. I m not sure if they were special guests of honour but the inconsistency in the service was quite obvious. The menu is very creative and I like how they rotate once in a while. It s clear the chefs here are very talented but I wish that the service was a bit better, especially for a restaurant with a Michelin star.

If you love tasting menus like I do, Twenty Victoria likely offers one of the most affordable ones in Toronto. Through a prepayment on Tock, the non-refundable six-course meal is set at $175 per person and is inclusive of gratuities (but before taxes) meaning the only thing that needs to be settled at the restaurant are drinks (beverage menu prices also includes gratuities). The first dish, kanpachi and oca root, combines slices of raw fish with a root vegetable that s described as a cousin of the potato and tastes like a starchier jicama. While it looks like sashimi, when the kanpachi is mixed with the crunchy diced oca root, olive oil, citrus, and basil seedlings, the dish tastes more ceviche. It was a vibrant starter that happened to coincide with tropical music being played in the dining room (a mere coincidence), the happy music putting us at ease that it wouldn t be a stuffy meal. What seemed like A LOT of sauce arrived with the trout and egg. Yet, the whipped hollandaise-like sauce carried a lightness that didn t overpower the rich fish and even worked solo with pieces of fallen fish roe. Ultimately, throughout the menu, we found the balance of richness and lightness was what made Twenty Victoria excel serving a decadent ingredient with something refreshing or at least restrained so that you can continue through the menu without feeling gross. Pairing chopped walnuts with scallops wouldn t have been my first choice, but it wasn t terrible either. The slightly cooked through nuts added a bit of texture against the soft scallops, which were perfectly seared and served with a lovely creamy sauce. In this dish, the raw celery (?) leaves provided a bright element to counteract the buttery condiment. With the scallops comes their bread course, a magnificent loaf that needs to be sold to go. Hot and crispy, the dark brown crust breaks away to reveal a milky airy centre. It s their version of Japanese milk bread, which makes complete sense after the explanation as my husband found it resembled a lighter brioche while it tasted like a richer pain au lait for me. Regardless, I only wish I didn t devour it all as the bread would also go well with the next dish. My advice for you, save a quarter. This is a long review, for the rest go to Gastro World.

It was a disappointing experience at Restaurant 20 Victoria. I found out about this restaurant from an inflight Enroute magazine that rated this place so high. Only one staff member came across genuinely pleasant and happy to be there - and that was sadly not our main waiter. I dont think our main waiter even smiled once. The food was mediocre at best. Im not a good cook but I can cook better than most of those dishes. The bread dish, cheese dish add on and duck were the only passable dishes and two of those things you cannot really mess up (bread and cheese is pretty easy to make by restaurant standards). The interior is also really dated however, just basing this review on the food and service its a 1/5. Sorry.

Tried this michelin recommended restaurant in a snowy night. Booked the dining room table and only fixed courses menu is available for the dining room for @$175 and this included gratuity. They have some bar tables in front which cater for walk in customers with ala carte menu. Cockage charges are @$60/btl. The plus point of here is that you do not need to pay any extra gratuity and the price is fixed all inclusive. They serve a 6 courses menu including dessert but not coffee/tea. The bread is served warm and delicious. The prawns and the scallops are both freshly tasted, eventhough I think can be improved. The main course veal tenderloin is a little bit disappointed. It is overcooked and have rooms for improvements. Overall, this is a restaurant worth supporting and the settings are cozy. Recommended.

Bar a la carte menu review: excellent food and beverages! Outstanding scallops, trout, Iberico pork collar, and milk fed veal sweetbreads. Addictive complimentary pull apart bread and butter. Very good desserts, served personally by Chef Julie. Owner Chris was our gracious server as they dont hire servers. Everything was a hit. Really perfect food flavour combos. 20% auto gratuity was applied to our entire bill (for all a la carte food and drinks). Which means that $45 was added plus $35 tax. Im not sure why other reviewers say that tip is included in the menu price because its definitely not! We had prepaid $25 per person which wasnt refunded on the final bill. Apparently there was a glitch. Thankfully I remembered to ask for the refund prior to leaving the restaurant, long after we paid. There is only one coat rack and we had to dig through other peoples coats to find ours buried underneath. Not a deal breaker but hang onto your own coat if its very expensive! Wonderful atmosphere with retro 80s music. Open kitchen. Nice, simple, individual washrooms with the best smelling hand soap around and real hand towels. We cant wait to return in the near future for the $175 tasting menu. Can anyone tell me if that also adds 20% auto gratuity? Response from management via email: Good evening Genevieve, I m writing this email to you in response to the review you left us. We are a non tipping restaurant that has made the conscious decision to not include service on our menu prices as they would look quite expensive. Instead, we factor in the service cost on the total of the bill. Sadly, the POS systems are not built for a non tipping culture so auto-gratuity is the only prompt that is available to be put on the bill. I assure you however that it is not a tip that we add. All of our staff are on salary. Our set menu in the dining room is $175+tax which is inclusive of this service charge. I hope this clears up the questions you had. Please do not hesitate to reach out if I missed something. Thank you, Danna Oleynikov General Manager My response on email to GM: Hi Danna, thank you for reaching out. We ate in the bar. Why is 20% added to the bar menu then? What exactly is it used for, if not gratuity? We spent $305 for two people for dinner in the bar. Your team added hst to the $45 auto-gratuity which is shocking. Subtotal is $225. HST should therefore be $29.25 It seems disingenuous to charge HST on a undisclosed gratuity 20%. Now that I think about it and Im looking at my bill closely, Im very upset. Im actually going to change my reviews to include this additional information. But I would prefer to hear back from you about why you tax the tip that is not disclosed to begin with. Customers should not have to pay for a non-tip where we dont even know where the money is going! Definitely there is a huge gap missing here. Thank you Genevieve

I ate at 20 Victoria on a Thursday night. Overall, I liked the 7 courses; everything was fresh even though most of the dishes were a little bit too much on the sour side. I felt the attitude of our waitress, during and after payment lacked a bit of finesse, for lack of a better word. But maybe I was also distracted by the 20% extra charge, which I did not expect at all. It was unexpected because during booking, one can read at several places in a few paragraphs: 1. * Please note we are a no-tipping restaurant - [ ] 2. This menu is offered at $175 per person and is inclusive of our service fee. 3. *Pricing is inclusive of our service fee* 4. * Please note we no longer accept gratuity. I think they should be more transparent about it, and not hide it in the hidden FAQ page on TOCK. They may be a no-tipping restaurant, but after charging 145$ for a tasting menu, 18$ per cocktails and 150$ per wine bottles, they will just add some 20% on top of it all. I think the least they could do is remove all instances of being « a no-tipping restaurant » on the reservation page, because this is misleading.

Was really looking forward to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, it was incredibly underwhelming. From start to finish, the ambiance was lacking, there was no energy in the room and the service was subpar. The food selection was more than disappointing they had two fish options, tartare, bread and a salad. The tartare was overpowering with fennel and the halibut was dry. The bread was probably the best tasting thing. No one personalized the experience given a special occasion, just asked what do you want to order, didnt explain the menu either - I had to prompt the server to explain. Surprised they have a Michelin Star - I left after 30 mins.

If theres one piece of feedback I would provide, was when asked if any of the cocktails on the menu were tart, the response was to list out the ingredients in each cocktail. I only have two points of criticism. I thought the desert could be a bit more refined, and that the wine pairing, while delicious, great, and unique was just a tad bit light on volume given the price. There was only 5 pairings (dessert didnt have a pairing) and for $100 I would have expected each glass to be a bit larger of a pour. Not sure how much per glass is normally at the restaurant, but I feel like for the price of $20/variety, that should come closer to a full glass.

Superb dining experience with a wine pairing that is worth the price of admission. Was recommended this place by a friend and it did not disappoint. Since the menu changes almost daily, whatever specific comments I make about the food will likely be outdated by the time someone reads this. Just know that all the dishes incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients, and are executed in a manner that while they appear simple, the technique is nuanced and complex (e.g. a dish of just chicken breast and grilled ramps but with a lobster jus that takes hours and hours to reduce). I usually don t get wine pairings at many restaurants, as they tend to be disappointing money grabs and I m not sure what prompted me to get it here on a whim but it was probably the best decision of the night. The wine selection was stunning, each subsequent bottle surpassing the former. It was so good to the point that I think for anyone dining here, the wine pairing should be mandatory. Service was impeccable- on point, courteous, friendly, and with just the right amount of table side chit chat. The restaurant itself is a smaller space but stunningly clean in both design and tidiness. Really the only minor gripe I have with this place is the high cost of dining, at a price point that makes it one of the most expensive in the city, and on par with 2- and even some 3- Michelin star locales around the world. It also is a bit of a pain to reserve ahead of time and it s cancellation policy (or lack there of) is pretty unforgiving. However, for a special occasion, and an evening to remember, this place checks all the boxes.

If theres one thing that stands out for me here, its the balance - balance of flavours that lingers in your mouth just ever so much so you understand the nuances of what youre eating, never crossing the line to overstay its welcome. Just like simple classics that play in the background, the food is never over the top, simple and yet delivers a punch that never fails to raise that twinkle in your eye that emerges out of sheer joy. Ive eaten at many a restaurant across the world that promises a stellar tasting menu, but the people at 20 Victoria have made dining here an extraordinary experience - and they do it by keeping things simple, focusing on the ingredient quality and sprinkling that wee bit of love that you only get when you dine at home.

Good food, fresh ingredients, mediocre to poor service if you dont know the staff. We got a bar seat, right by the door probably the worst seat in the house. We came right on time for our 6:15pm seating time and was immediately pointed to our seats and told that the coat rack was behind us. Other than being over crowded in where we were, we were given a single menu (and had to ask for another). In the same bar area, there were small tables available but clearly for the restaurants friends since people showed up late to their reservation and yet got better seats. We ordered a few courses and they came sporadically throughout the evening. They cleared plates after each course and refilled water/wine when appropriate. However, the staff felt pretentious and cold. Then when they had people they knew at the door, were rowdy and spent more time socializing than actually serving. Overall, the food was well balanced and had nice flavour, ingredients were fresh. Simple and elegant. However, for $250+ for your meal, youd think youd get a much better experience.

I came here with a friend, and we were excited to get reservations at 20 Victoria three weeks later. Before arriving for our experience, a survey was sent before asking about any dietary restrictions. Our experience started with our reservations at 5:30 pm. We were immediately greeted and led to our seats in a corner in the back. My friend ordered a glass of wine, and I ordered a cocktail that was an elevated Aperol Spritz. They had two cocktails to offer with a more extensive wine list. Our meal started strong, with dishes with robust flavours and attentive service; however, as the night got longer and the restaurant became busier, the plates became saltier, and we were not impressed by the combination of flavours; we waited longer for service. Our least favourite dish was the desserts, which could have been a better finish for our dining experience, and we could not finish. As we had already pre-paid for our meal online which includes tip and tax, we still needed to pay for our drinks which included a 20% service fee + HST. After a long meal, we went to look for our jackets, among many other jackets, on a coat stand. The server saw that we were trying to find it and said we would have to search around for it - not something we would have expected for a fine dining experience. The menu changes daily, and the restaurant uses fresh and seasonal ingredients. The dishes can look simple, but the restaurant uses different techniques to deliver a well-executed meal with complex flavours. However, we had high expectations and were not impressed with our experience towards the latter end of our dining experience. We left at 8 pm, which we felt was too long.

Food was edible at best, and our server was just awful... over seasoned salads, mayo with scallops, sour desserts, and just nothing creative nor special. The service was by far the worst experience weve had and our server doesnt even look like he enjoys the job. Had really high hopes for this one, especially with the price point they are charging. It was such a disappointment, and both my husband and I left the place feeling angry.

I think this place needs a point of sales system, better management overall, and better wait staff. Food was good, but nothing spectacular, and same with drinks. Id give them another shot as they seem to change their menus almost daily. Overall an average experience

Enjoyed a great meal here last night. The restaurant has a lovely vibe with great music and a relaxed atmosphere. The service was fantastic and reflected the atmosphere of the restaurant attentive, yet relaxed. I would highly recommend the wine pairing with the meal. Delicious!

Staff is very friendly and attentive, nice space. Food is all technically good and well put together; however, was missing that wow factor (signature flavour / uniqueness). Would definitely go back, but hoping they can knock it out of the park next time.

Went here for dinner, and dont understand what this restuaurant is. It is acting like a fine dine restaurant and yet the plates are food you can make yourself at home. The staff is unprofessional and the food is mediocre. Avoid this place.

On the very rare occasion or maybe only once in your life can you say you ve been to a restaurant with a set menu of multiple course meals and every single course was mind-blowing and amazing. Fresh ingredients, inventive execution and unusual combinations make the evening at 20 Victoria unforgettable. Service is stellar and the drawn out but well-paced dish delivery results in an evening of culinary theatre. We lucked out to snag a last min cancellation and it was the first time in a long time I can say with confidence one of the best meals I ve had! Thank you 20 Victoria! Front and back of house played a wonderful performance.

Absolutley stellar. 20 Victoria has managed to make a charming and refined patio in the dowtown core. Every Course of the menu was beautiful, balanced and extremely tasty. Portions were perfect and I was very happily full by the end of the meal. Stand out dishes for me were the sweet breads and the Cod with black garlic and tomatoes. omg. Chris was charming and easy to talk to and all the service was warm and respectful while still having the ease and comfort of not being too fussy. I still feel like an awkward weirdo going out these days after so long staying in and they made the meal relaxing and wonderful. Thanks so much guys!

An excellent night all-around! Wonderful service from Chris and staff and an absolutely delicious five or six course tasting menu (with choice of main and dessert). Splurge and get the wine pairing as well - Dana is an expert. Not inexpensive, but worth every cent! Cant wait to go back.

This place shows no respect to its customer. We waited for a month, spent almost $500 for the worst dining experience in our life. There were fruit flies everywhere, keeping flying into our foods and drinks. I understood it s difficult to get rid of the flies at patio so I didn t complain at all, just asked for a new drink because 6 flies were floating in my glass. Our server saw the dead bugs in my wine and said she could give a me spoon to scoop them out. Still I was not complaining, although I felt very disappointed. Later I asked the owner if they had insect spray, and told him I really liked the food however there were too many flies. Without any apologies, he said if we feel uncomfortable we can cancel the rest of our courses and leave. We still finished our dinner. The owner just brought food to us without saying anything. He was watching us killing the flies on our table but didn t offer any help or apologies. I believe their terrible service has nothing to do with COVID. We ve been supporting since they opened Brothers, yet they totally ruined our dinner this time. I worried about their food safety since no one cared about the bugs in food. Service was also unprofessional. We got dirty glass, and parings with obvious different amount in two glasses. Don t visit.

Went twice to try to walk in but no tables available for weeks. Why did I give it 5 stars? The owner was supper humble and apologetic. He gave me options to text him directly for last minute cancelations. Plus I remember him from the wine bar he had called Brothers. They had a great selection then, before covid made it necessary to relax wine sales regulations. They would open any bottle they had even if it wasnt on the by the glass menu. Thats great customer service and I only expect it to be better at his new digs.

The owner of this place was an absolute joy. So polite, so accommodating. Since my friend didnt have his covid passport, we couldnt dine inside but they set up a table for us outside which was very sweet. The tasting menu (the walk in samples you can order) was so delicious that we requested a reservation for the whole experience. He said theres a month waiting list but we didnt care, we set up a reservation for next month. The beer and cocktails were amazing as well. If I could give this place a higher rating I would.

I had heard incredible things about this restaurant, but unfortunately it did not live up to the expectation. The service is about 4 dishes, one amuse bouche and a dessert for $90. We added ONE wine pairing and the grand total came to shy of $400 for 2. The wine pairings were creative and well-curated. The food was alright, but with only four VERY small courses, we did not leave feeling full. In fact, we needed to ask for extra bread--not something that should accompany a $400 meal. The service was pretty bad, some light conversation with one of the owners was pleasant, but we had been offered complementary celebratory bubbly to start but then charged for it with the bill (strange?). Ambience was a little stuffy. Hopefully the owners heed some of the criticisms, but until then there are better options for the price and hype in Toronto. Ill break it down as follows: Food (Taste): 4/5 Food (Overall): 3/5 Service: 2/5 Ambience: 1/5

It was worth the wait to get a table at Restaurant 20 Victoria, having been big fans of Brothers, my wife and I had high hopes that their new venture would be good and they did not disappoint. The food was excellent, the wine pairing, a perfect accompaniment and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We look forward to coming back again soon.
