Canadian-French bistro with a weekly menu of classics-inspired fare made from local ingredients.
I went to Union for dinner tonight with a friend. We shared the Union Salad, the Polenta and the Gnocchi! All three were AMAZING! We sat at the kitchen bar. Watching all the food that came out made me wish I had room to order all the other great dishes that I saw came out while enjoying our dishes. I have include a picture of the sticky cake we ordered for dessert since I was full enough to pause and grab a picture before devouring it. 10/10 I will definitely be back!
An unforgettable evening at this Michelin-starred gem, made even better by the perfect weather and welcoming dog-friendly atmosphere. Dining outside was a pleasure, but the true highlights were the mouthwatering elk sliders and the exceptional service—a perfect blend of attentiveness and laid-back charm.
Had an amazing dinner. Steak was cooked perfectly and dessert is a must have here! Would highly recommend! Sticky Ginger Cake is a must try. Can’t wait to come back
Chill vibe with various seating options, with the back patio hiding more seats than you'd think. Great food that uses some quality local meat and produce. They kindly offered to seat us between reservations on a busy Friday which was nice.
I thought the store is very small at first but they have a cute patio in the back and another section in the store as well. Server was very kind and nice and foods were all really good. I tried something fishcake and it was really good. It’s also pretty kids-friendly staffs. I’d visit again in the future!
Oysters 4/5 Beef tartare is really good 5/5 Elk sliders 4/5 Most were fine, except one. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the chef prepare the dishes, and we also enjoyed recording these. but one waiter sternly asked us "no video! it is not allowed here! ", that was never happened before, I don't know why he was that attitude😢. but he didn't served us again, and the other waitress was still nice.
Food is delicious here. The “Swiss train ride” was indulgent and rich. I especially enjoyed the caramelized scraggly cheesy edges of the sandwich. The egg was cooked perfectly runny and the rosti was delectable. The portion size was generous and I couldn’t finish this!
Visited for a late lunch around 2 PM and ordered from the lunch menu. Here are my thoughts on the dishes I tried: Steak Tartare ($19 for appetizer size): The dish was subtly flavored, allowing the high quality of the beef juices to shine through. The bread served with it was uniquely textured, reminiscent of French toast, which added a delightful buttery note to the overall taste. Union Burger ($29): I wouldn’t highly recommend this dish. Overall, it was too greasy, although the patty itself was very juicy. There was a hint of foie gras flavor not mentioned on the menu, which added complexity, but the accompanying salad was overdressed and only added to the greasiness instead of balancing it. Steak Frites ($36): This was my favorite dish of all. The beef was tender, cooked to a perfect medium as requested, and the fries were crispy and tasty. It was served with their homemade salty egg yolk sauce, which was very appetizing. I was pleasantly surprised that ketchup was provided, a rarity in many restaurants along this street. The ambiance of the restaurant was very retro, and the service was warm and welcoming. However, it’s worth mentioning that the stairway leading to the restrooms was in poor condition with an unpleasant smell. Seeing that this restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide, I had high expectations and hope for better execution in the future. Perhaps I’ll return to try their dinner menu.
Have been here a few times and it s so amazing. The staff are fantastic, the food is AMAZING! It definitely isn t cheap but honestly so worth it for the quality and flavour! Can be a bit loud sometimes but overall it is great. Dietary restrictions: Went with a family member that is gluten intolerant and she had no trouble finding gluten free options and the staff were really helpful in telling her what she menu items could select from.
Popped into the bar for an afternoon aperitif and met some wonderful people. Had a perfectly executed vesper martini and shared some fun stories with new friends. I felt welcomed and embraced. I will definitely return.
Overall experience was decent, but they were out of some dishes at the time from the days menu. The elk sliders were creative and quite good. Pork chop was way too fatty though. The atmosphere was really nice but our waiter left the restaurant at some point and we had to pour our own water and wine.
Great spot, lunch menu is great - recommend the burger.
Everyone raves about union however it didn t deliver as my hopes were very high. Would come here once but not again, maybe I ordered the wrong thing.
Eggs Montreal and the crispy polenta dish were both fantastic. Nice selection of wines and tasty cocktails. Neat little place with charm to spare.
Avg.
Top fave brunch spots in the city. Food is delicious, portions are big and service is great.
splendid lunch on the back terrace!
Their ambience of the spacious back patio is great. People were enjoying beer from early lunch time. Union burger comes with lots of crispy french fries. Burger itself was juicy. Steak tartare is decent. I felt the price was high, but I think it would be around this price range for a store on Ossington avenue. The inside of the restaurant isnt very large, so if youre traveling with a stroller or pet, you can sit outside on the patio facing the street. Union burger with fries $29 Steak tartare main size $26
Nice effort to handle a lot of crowd at times but people grew in volumes at peak hours
Love this spot for either lunch or dinner! Stead Tartare is a must. Fries are the shoestring style, which is soo good. Literally any dish you get won t disappoint so there s no point listing them all.
Came for the steak frites and it did not disappoint. Very cozy spot for a late lunch
Went for Saturday date night, food was really delicious...but unfortunately, when a server was cleaning off the table next to us, she oversprayed the cleaning solution onto our table, arms/clothes and appetizers that had just been delivered. Im not sure what was in the spray bottle (ie. cleaning chemicals, vinegar, etc) so felt uncomfortable/grossed out to eat our food. Im not sure if she saw us flinch when we got sprayed, but didnt acknowledge, apologize or replace the food. It was a really awkward and gross experience - kinda ruined the dinner for us!
The Good, the Bad, and the Raw Egg + Eggs Montreal and our brunch cocktails were great! - Not sure why the shakshuka is on the menu. It was served piping hot and lacked flavor and presentation (think frozen meal meets whole basil leaves). Plus, one of the eggs was nearly raw. For $26? No thanks. Usually, I dont want the server to be overly involved in our experience, but this time, one of the dishes was straight up bad, and it would have been nice if the server hadnt rushed past us including just dropping the payment terminal on the table and hurrying off again.
Unions tartar is so quality I had to go back a week later to have another.
Brunch was amazing. Pancakes were fluffy, service is always dialled. An Ossington staple
Flavours were perfect from first bite. Simple, changing menu. Nice back patio too. Service on point.
Year after year. Visit after visit. Basically flawless: not flashy, just good. Do yourself a kindness, order the Ginger Snap Cake for dessert.
Im a regular at Union. Ive had both their brunch and dinner. They recently changed the menu, but I still really like their hash browns. The multigrain bread was surprisingly delicious too.
The food was ok, but nothing spectacular. The place was really hot and had an unpleasant smell, especially for those sitting in the back. The server made a comment after the payment, probably because he wasnt satisfied with the tip %. Next time you should keep the comments to yourself. If 15% is not enough for you, maybe you find a different job. Also, if you have any complaints you should address them to your employer so they can start paying you a livable wage.
Best brunch in Toronto. Hands down.
Great place for lunch and dinner, dont miss it French cuisine, cozy atmosphere you will enjoy the time that you spend.
5 stars all go towards the sticky ribs and fries. Cheers!
Best meal we had in Toronto, loved the back patio and enjoyed great wine, oysters, seasonal tomato salad, a top notch steak tartare and the steak frites. What a delight!
I little bit expensive, no alcohol, no big meal. Six oysters, one app. one main, one coke...
The wine and food are truly delicious. Great atmosphere and spacious interior. Friendly service without being overwhelming. A place you d want to visit with someone special.
Really great back patio and the food is delicious!
I like their little back yard and the atmosphere but the food is so average. I tried the steak and frites with house salad.
We went for dinner in a weekday. The food was okay, but the cocktails were so strong that we could hardly taste the flavours mentioned on the menu. However, a glasses-wearing waitress tried to take our plates even with a slider left on obviously, pushing us to pay the bill for a few times. She pushed us to make a decision of paying the bill or stay by asking, this was the first time I was treated this way. This constant pressure made it difficult to relax and chat for the left time. I don t understand this kind of service, perhaps their brunchs popularity seems to have made them forget the leisurely and comfortable experience that dinner should provide. There were plenty of empty tables that day, I don t understand what she was in such a hurry for. I wanted to try their brunch, but this experience has put me off.
Starting with the service: super friendly staff, helpful and responsive. Atmosphere: spotless, warm and cozy Food: absolutely amazing. Fresh ingredients, attention to detail preparation and great flavour. Will repeat
I went to brunch here recently without a reservation and they were very accommodating and the food was amazing! One of the best brunch meals I have had in a while! Highly recommend!
Absolutely outstanding
Mimosa and hummus bowl. Delish. Local menu and so it is updated daily. Will definitely go back.
Staff are extremely friendly and the food rotates on a daily basis making coming here regularly extremely exciting!
Great service! Food divine
One of the best restaurants on ossington. Had both very good brunch and dinner
Today I visited Union Restaurant on Ossington for brunch and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. One incident in particular was profoundly disappointing and warrants sharing. I ordered a side salad with my meal, expecting a simple yet well-rounded accompaniment. What I received, however, was a plate of plain lettuce either iceberg or romaine lightly drizzled with vinaigrette or balsamic. No variety, no additional vegetables, just a pile of leafy greens. When our server finally returned to our table after we had already finished our meal, I brought this to his attention, assuming there had been a mistake. His response was nothing short of condescending. He told me, Oh, you must have never been here before because that is our side salad. I was taken aback by his tone and snarky attitude. I calmly explained that I have been here for dinner before and, quite frankly, it should not matter. Any reasonable person who orders a side salad and is served a plate of lettuce would be astonished. By definition, a salad typically includes a variety of raw vegetables carrots, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, just to name a few. His response? Well, it s too late now and there s nothing I can do about it. I was appalled by his dismissive attitude and the complete lack of regard for customer satisfaction. The entire time I was simply trying to express a valid grievance, one that I believe anyone in my position would have. To make matters worse, our server neglected our table after taking our order, only returning when it was too late to address any concerns we had during the meal. This experience was deeply disappointing and left me feeling completely disrespected. It occurred midday, at the front window. I hesitate to put someone on blast, but I cannot overlook the sheer level of unprofessionalism and disdain that was displayed. Sadly, this experience has deterred me from returning to Union Restaurant. I would caution others to think twice before dining here, as my experience suggests a troubling lack of customer care and respect. One star.
Are their Aug 17,2024. Food was brunch, have had better rosti, cutting in they were also grey in colour but a crisp coat, bacon double smoke some rind still on bacon, kind of dry and chewy, two eggs sunny up ok, some salad nothing spectacular, coffee brewed quite nice good temp however gave plantation sugar that does not melt should never be given for coffee, orange juice good. Floor coming in and going out slippy - very noticable as with a cane. Will I return - probably not -
Overall it was great. It was very loud and hard to have a conversation across the table. Server was not really knowledgeable on the dishes. But maybe she was new. And too busy with other tables.
We went for brunch this past weekend. The food was a bit overpriced; I ordered a small salad that was entirely vegetarian except for the poached egg, and it cost $21. The restaurant was exceptionally crowded, but there were only two people serving. We waited twenty minutes before someone came to take our order. Later, I had to personally walk to the bar counter to call someone over to get the check, as they were too busy to serve so many customers. Overall, this experience made me feel that they dont quite deserve their Michelin recognition over the past few years.
Do yourself a favour and eat here. Absolutely flawless in every way.
From the first bite you can tell these people care about their menu. Everything was so perfectly considered and tasted incredible. Already planning return trips to try the rest of the menu. Tiny, minor gripe is that the music was a little loud given the rest of the mood in the restaurant.
Great wine list, amazing oysters, food was also pretty good. Not a 5 star because there s not really any dishes I ll be dreaming about.
Had a lovely dinner on the back patio, we ended up chatting and enjoying ourselves so long; they let us hang out after they were closed which was really nice, no pressure to hurry up and leave. Good and cocktails were fantastic!
Consistently great food and service for fair prices. Parking: Very difficult to find parking anywhere on this strip of Ossington. Food : 5/5 |
My friends and I made a reservation for brunch and enjoyed our time here. We got the mimosa kit for the 3 of us and we all had just a little bit over 2 and a half glasses each. For mains, we had ordered the Huevos Frijoles, Salmon and Swordfish Fishcake and the Union Salad. Everything was very flavourful with good portion sizes! The only thing I would have preferred is if the Union Salad came with chopped lettuce .. it was served with whole leaves, which made it kind of hard to eat (felt like I was shoving it into my mouth and it was hard to cut, lol). It does get busy here during brunch so the service was a little slow, but the vibes were great and its a lively spot to check out! Would definitely come back to try the other dishes.
A very nice place in Toronto. Fresh cuisine, seasonal products and the staff is very professional and friendly. We had a great time with very reasonable prices for North America. They have a nice terrace in the back too. The oysters are excellent and the meats too. I recommend thank you again
Everything was good but nothing was mind blowing. We had the peach salad, elk sliders, oysters, fish, ribs and frites and the sticky date dessert. I m not rushing back
Man I really wanted to like the place one star is for the host, the food is nowhere near the hype. They messed up the most basic thing. Added extra Salt
awesome French dishes with good price
Loved every single thing at this place! Food is beyond amazing they even have a Michelin review for good food for the value.
Excellent brunch, pretty tasty and delicious food. Definitely recommended.
Brilliant in all regards! From the moment we made our reservation one hour prior to being welcomed in to our table at the back patio and throughout our time there, the staff were top notch. Tom was our server and a gentleman through and through. The food was impeccably prepared, cooked to perfection. It was the perfect spontaneous place to spend our anniversary! We re already planning brunch with the entire family there!
Great little spot for breakfast and brunch!
Union used to be good. The food is still good, but it s now over priced and the service is nonexistent.
We sat outside. The atmosphere is casual, but the prices say higher end. We had oysters, cant complain))
An amazing place for brunch with my friend. I forgot its full name but this is the beef rib something that I ordered. Super juicy and flavourful but I think it could be better if served with a few pickles for a refreshment in the mouth.
Not a ton of value. With tip, our brunch (Montreal Benny thing, basic breakfast, 4 oysters and two Caesars) was $126. The Caesars were flat out bad; lacking any kind of heat or savouriness, they just tasted bitter. The oysters were okay, and my girlfriend liked her breakfast. My benny was fairly disappointing. Nice portion of smoked trout, but the eggs werent yolky and the hollandaise sauce had no flavour. For $30, a Benny should have your eyes rolling back in your head. Glad we made a rezo, because it wouldnt have been worth waiting in line.
Cozy spot on Ossington with great food, relaxed atmosphere, and attentive service. Came for brunch on a Wednesday and was sat immediately, though it filled up quickly! The breakfast sandwich was super tasty, freshly grilled up, and was ready in about 10 minutes. The staff checked up several times to ensure everything was great. Excited to return for dinner in the future.
Delicious!!
Pleasant spot serving good food with good service and with a nice cosy patio out back with shade and shielded from traffic noise. Parking on Ossington at lunch was not a problem.
Food was very good, servers were nice, but food came slow. Probably took 25 minutes for the appetizer and the mains took another 25. 50 min from when we ordered to getting our main seems excessive.
one of the best steak tartare
Their burger is amazing
We had a wonderful experience at Union! We celebrated a birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it feel like a special occasion. Our entrees were perfect and the desserts were incredible, this place lives up to the hype. Visit Union whenever you can!
Steak is too salty, fat and overpriced
Forgot to put our food in and had us wait an extra hour. Crappy service and weird bar smell
cool vibe and literally the best bacon ive ever had in my entire life. like im not kidding at all. get the bacon!! do it!!!! otherwise one star off bc sometimes service can be slow lol
The type of legendary limited seating breakfast that I love to discover when visiting downtown. Bravo to Union, best breakfast Ive had in years! Popped in here on a whim and tried out the jalapeno cheese sausage. Really, really good sausage and the rest of the fixings were delicious as well. Wife enjoyed her quiche. We both had espressos - very tasty and well prepared. Sizeable bill for two when we were finished but thats typical for these trendy spots. Knocked a star off for service as it took a while to get our order taken and get our bill. Considering theres about 15 total tables in here theres no real excuse.
Hands down one of the best brunches in the city.
The inside of the restaurant was small, but it tasted good! I liked the yukhoe tartare the most
If I could give service 10 stars I would. A friend and I went for dinner and our server was so sweet and attentive. Just one example of the excellent service we received: while we were sitting in the back covered patio, she noticed I put on a sweater. She immediately turned on the heaters and came over to let us know, in case I was feeling cold. It s small moments like that, that really make you feel taken care of. My only regret is not leaving a bigger tip. I ll definitely have to return and offer more next time. As for the atmosphere, the place was full and lively but didn t feel overly crowded or loud. The space itself I would describe it as unpretentious but still felt refined. Finally, the food. We ended up getting a main AND an app of the beef tartare since it was so delicious, as well as the trout which was cooked beautifully. To be honest pretty much everything on the menu called out to us. We also got a salted chocolate mousse that we shared and it was a perfect way to end our meal. They also had a great offering of wines and drinks. Overall: fabulous staff, great food, lovely atmosphere.
Food was amazing
The food was exceptional. The service was quite good. The atmosphere was... a busy restaurant. Im not going to fault them for being popular. Union is a gem.
If it s your first time it s very easy to get lost but once you get the hang of it, it s great. There s a lot of people so come earlier than you should so that you re not late. Lots of food options and bathrooms are pretty clean. Sometimes has a weird smell but can t really complain.
The food was delicious and generous portions. The restaurant is quite loud but it is a great atmosphere.
Good dinner experience. I enjoyed the vide but too popular during the weekend night. Reservation is recommended. The beef tarte comes with interesting sauce and the toast is crispy.
What a lovely experience! Food was absolutely delicious, excellent service, very caring staff. The bartender who served us was professional and very friendly. Thank you for a great night!
Everything was excellent. The service was great and food and drinks were awesome. The burger is epic, best I have ever had.
Definitely did not blow my mind for a Michelin recommended restaurant. The atmosphere was okay, and the food was not life changing. The menu is pretty played out in that they have what everyone else has on their menu- gave me a more expensive Montanas vibe. Our server was lovely and the staff was all great! Service was excellent and fast despite how busy it was! Probably wont go back, but glad I checked it out! We had tartar, salmon, steak and frites. Best part of the meal was the dessert by far!
Im usually not big on brunch but the execution quality of the dishes is excellent! I especially enjoyed the rosti.
Always great service and food.
This restaurant is a relaxed yet elevated vibe. The food was absolutely delicious. I can see why they appeared on you got to eat here! It s a must try! Everything was perfect, from the oysters to the burger which by the way is the best burger I have ever had (big statement.. I know. But try it and you ll get it) Every dish is thoughtful and unpretentious but the taste just delivers. The dessert is a must do as well. I highly suggest the sticky toffee pudding, and the crème brûlée.
The best
Food was Divine. Service was on point. Atmosphere was on beat.
Amazing staff. Amazing food. Overall just amazing.
Service was the only decent thing about this restaurant. If you re into cutting up your own salad, and the food being delivered looking like it s from the compost you re in luck. Also, what s with the shared kitchen and bathrooms? That s gross.
Really tasty
Too salty, loud and slow. Drinks are good
Great little spot, with excellent service and food. Tried their signature burger with their own made toppings which was great, topped it off with a recommended local beer which I also enjoyed. Worth the stop!!
Best steak tartare in town, and the service is always a delight. Consistently, reliably excellent.
I originally saved this place to my list for brunch, but was pleasantly surprised with their dinner. We ordered the oysters, elk sliders and cornish hen. Each dish was excellent, the service was great and the place had a great atmosphere as well. Very cosy and great vibe.
Food was not that great, very bland, and the portions were quite small.
Best tartare in the city, perfectly executed. Due to a mixup with an order the staff gifted us matcha creme brulee which was amazing. Overalll great vibes and would definitely return
Great atmosphere for casual drinks and food with friends. We tried the Hokkaido Scallop Crudo, Union Salad, Steak Tartare, Elk Sliders and Steak Frites. Excellent cocktails and decent wine selection. Enjoyed all of the food and unique offerings! Service was good. We would absolutely return to sample more of the menu!
The environment and service are very good. Went for brunch on the weekend. The dishes were a bit salty, there were not many choices, and it was easy to repeat. The atmosphere is pretty good!
Get everything, and dont forget the sticky ginger cake!
Food was really great. Flavourful and fresh. Burger was way overcooked and I normally wouldn t care but server made sure to tell me it comes medium-rare when I was ordering. It came well done. If he said nothing I wouldn t have noted it
One of my favs in the city!
The food is a-mazing, absolutely loved the Swiss Train ride dish! If I could give 10 stars for the service, I would! We had the best server (at the bar). We left our headphones accidentally and he ran a block in the cold to catch us - thank you again!!!
Went in for dinner, server took us straight to the back of the restaurant without asking if we d like to sit in the front which have a much better atmosphere. It s was -5 outside and the back area has cold air coming through. The main service took her sweet time chatting with someone before showing any hospitality. No warm welcome, no greeting, just robotic words. We were the only table in that room at the time. The server lady brought a bottle of water and just put it on the table, didn t even care to fill the glasses for us. If it s a restaurant pricing a steak frites at $60, I expect better service. Food was good, the non alcoholic drinks sucks. $9 for a red syrup with sprite and a slice of lemon floating over the ice. Had the whole meal while feeling cold, payed the bill and walked out. Passing the server, no thank you bye bye , just a side eye glance lol. I d suggest any non local people be more demanding otherwise they don t take you seriously, not even respectful. Luckily the food was not bad, but the rude serve took away 90% of the joy. DO NOT RECOMMEND, there s better food and better service out there.
Easy enough to navigate. Clean and spacious station.
We dropped by for brunch with a reservation, where we ordered the Eggs Montreal and the Union Salad. While the service was excellent, unfortunately the food itself was a bit of a disappointment. In both dishes all vegetable-based components were delicious such as the rosti, coleslaw and pickles, as were the poached eggs. However, all meat components of each dish, such as the smoked trout and bacon, were extremely salty and dry. This had the unfortunate impact of making the overall dish much too salty to be an enjoyable meal.
Just popped in here for a quick bite to eat. Service was prompt and friendly and I got the steak tartare, which is one of my favourite dishes. It was very tasty and the meat was of a high quality. I also got a glass of wine to accompany it. The cocktails looked great too and Im sure that the other dishes on the menu would be as well.
Best steak I ve ever had. And the elk sliders are so good it s wild.
Im so glad my daughters introduce me to these incredible (new) restaurants. Union was awesome, atmosphere was very cool and the guy who took our order and helped make wine and food suggestions was great.
Best tartare and steak&frites I ate in the city. Everything was super fresh and tasted delicious! Food
Really nice and cozy restaurant on Ossington. Small but well curated Menu and great service. The sliders are on a different level and the burrata is a must try. Food : 4/5
Came here on several occasions and it s always a good time. Food is consistently fresh and delicious along with super friendly service!
One of the best meals Ive had in Toronto. The fries with aioli were great. The fried chicken karaage was fabulous. Creme brulee was scrumptious. Great music and ambience too. Loved it, 10/10 Food : 5/5
One of the nicest culinary experiences weve had in Toronto. Its expensive. Its worth it. Nothing on the menu selections in our party was a disappointment. Terrific food and service. We will go back.
Great hearty menu, very well done.
Just amazing, I definitely recommend it. Amazing space and the food is so but so good. I have been there with my wife and we are just waiting for an opportunity to come back. Thank you for everything. Food
Had some delicious dessert here. Better yet, AMAZING service. Had some nice conversations with the staff.
The Elk sliders have me thinking about this place even months later. Apps are smaller portions, but great food making up for a very positive dining experience. Service was fabulous - our waitress was very nice and even brought us a free glass of wine to celebrate our anniversary. Will definitely be back soon.
Best brunch in the city, dont sleep on it. Killer lunch and dinner too, you cant go wrong. Food : 5/5
Food is good but overpriced. Overhyped. Portions are way too small. Not worth it.
Sat in the back heated inclosed patio. Oysters were called sweet gold and I think the best oysters Ive ever had. We ended up getting 3 dozen! So delicious served with habernero paste. Nice range of cocktails and drinks. Server was super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely go back again.
Hidden gem within Ossinington. Make sure you make a reservation ahead of time, gets pretty full. Amazing food, pleasantly surprised. Nice vibe and awesome service. Shout out to Pam!
Quite a disappointing experience. The food was not great and was quite expensive. The steak as not cooked well and was dry and lacked flavour. Fish was bland and a bit overcooked. Overall it s not worth the money to eat here. Desert was the best course here.
I stopped in for lunch and Abby made me the best peach margarita. The service was great and the food was even better. I also tried the new fall cocktails and I would strongly recommend!
One of my favourite spots in the city.
Chicken Sandwich and pancake were so good. Would not recommend the beef tar tar. Amazing service delicious elk burgers
Really loved this place. Didnt eat much only got fries and a desert which were really good. But all the food and menu looked amazing, will definitely come again for food. The food is on the pricier end but honestly everything looked excellent. Loved the open kitchen and overall vibes
This is one of our go-to restaurants in Toronto. The food is always delicious, the steak tartar and Union salad are our favourites. The atmosphere is laidback and cozy, whether you re seated at the bar, and inside table, or outdoor heated patio. The service is friendly and quick. Highly recommend!
Union has one of the best tasting burgers in the city! The steak tartare is a solid pick as well.
Had a really great lunch. Steak was cooked perfectly. Good meal at an appropriate price. Vegetarian options: Offer vegetarian substitutions to some menu options.
A cozy place on Ossington! The place gets busy soon at noon. Ordered the steak frites and it did not disappoint! The steak was medium rare and juicy. Everything was well seasoned and the portion was just right! The staff was very friendly as well. The order took some time to come but it s worth the wait!
Never had a bad experience!
Found a live worm on my plate and when I pointed it out to the server and asked for a new dish with no lettuce she just brought me an empty plate to put the quiche on. She then said that s just because of the farm freshness of the ingredients but that s not really an excuse for not washing the produce properly. Only a third of the dish was taken off the bill .
Food and vibes for brunch and dinner are 10/10. Get the tartare, you will not regret it! Zoe is an amazing server - great personality and super attentive.
Always a treat Half price wine on Mondays. When we were there.....oysters amazing.
So so
This was some of the tastiest food and best service I ve had in Toronto. Union dishes up locally sourced dishes with such balanced flavours and thought. 10/10 would recommend.
Beef tartare and elk sliders were awesome
Great food and service. A bit crowded
I love this place. I like to go here with my family. One comment is that I came here on my anniversary with my partner and the host made a snide remark about the low tip on the machine (15%) . Little did the guy know, I had cash to add on before I left to bump that up to 22% but I almost regret doing that.
Food was great, but our waitress was unwelcoming and cold from start to finish.
Loved it!
