Nice dimsum place 🥟 in dundas area. It is quiet, cozy and comfortable not like busy or crowded. They have cute🎄decorations :) Dimsum was a bit too slimy for my taste, but fried rice and chowmein, meat dish was delicious
Great dim sum in downtown Toronto without having to go uptown. We came on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy. Fortunately this place accepts reservations online. Everything we ordered came out quickly, hot and delicious. Would recommend and come back. Note that it is a bit on the pricier side at around $10 per dish.
We ordered abalone and chicken, teriyaki angus beef, both were delicious and mouth watering, chicken was very tender and savory. dishes had a very nice appearance and well garnished. our server May was so helpful and friendly. She patiently answered our questions and explained the items on menu.
Dined here with my sister earlier this year, we pretty much just stumbled upon it while looking for more authentic Chinese food (something that Toronto lacks, compared to where we are from in Mississauga), and were super excited to find a Cantonese restaurant in Toronto!! The service was extremely impressive, and the lady serving us was so warm and polite. The food itself was delicious and reminded us of the traditional HK food we grew up with. The portions were generous and presentation artistic. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.✨️
We had a reservation at the Moon Palace Restaurant on a weeknight. The main floor was busy with two large parties celebrating special occasions. The four of us ordered “Fresh Lobster Meat in Pumpkin Broth” soup and three other dishes for dinner. The soup is refreshing with an adequate amount of fresh lobster meat blended in the pumpkin broth that is thick and tasty. We enjoyed it as a starter to our meal. Then, the nicely plated “Sweet and Sour Pork” was served with a golden stringed decoration on the side. That was a nice addition to the pate with fresh pineapple chunks and crunchy pork with red/yellow peppers. The taste is very appetizing and well-prepared by the chefs. Shortly after, the “Crispy Egg Noodle with Whole Lobster and Maitake Mushroom” was served. The lobster seemed small, maybe less than 1.5 lbs, with a short meaty tail. We, however, did enjoy the taste and the smell of the wok as it was nicely cooked. For $34, I do expect the lobster to be larger so the guests could share the seafood equally. After about an hour when all the other dishes were consumed, we were still waiting for the “Special Braised Yellow Fin Grouper” dish. The waiter said because of the unexpectedly large table, it would take a little longer to prepare. . . Finally, it was a delight when the very large plate was brought to the table. The grouper was humongous and very tasty, with tofu, mushrooms, and Chinese greens on the side. The meat and all ingredients were fresh and nicely braised together. Too bad it was served long after we had finished all the other dishes. We enjoyed our gathering at Moon Palace, but our dinner should have been prepared more efficiently.
We decided to check out this Cantonese restaurant in the Atrium. We were rushed like cattle with the hostess waves. The waitress was very standoffish. She threw my cutlery at me from across the table. Different waitress and waiters dropped off the food. The food was delicious! The rice was plain with no flavour disappointing. The garlic ribs were divine those were worth the wait. Yummy!!! The prawn and scallop dish was superb. The spring rolls were fresh and hot. Dim sum...mmm
When we arrived everything was good until we were seated. Our waitress was rude and was trying to hurry us up to order. We had never been here so we needed a few minutes to see the menu, she most likely got mad or something because then a different waitress came back to take our order. The food took about 25mins to reach us, but the person refilling our tea was on point so thank you for that. The food was ok, nothing special, definitely not worth a 25 min wait and the poor service didn't help at all. Overall this place wants to be fine dining but it can't be, it's also expensive.
While the price may be a little scary for some people to try, lemme assure you that portion is worth the price. The Hot and sour seafood soup was great. The pumpkin lobster soup...not so. The fried rice is very good. Tastes like how authentic Asian fried rice would taste like. Worth trying but best to go with a reservation I guess? It can get packed fast and service may take awhile. but all in all... GOOD FOOD!
they charge $5 for hot boiled water. food is decent, i understand prices are higher due to location however charging for takeout boxes is hilarious and ridiculous. also service is extremely rude, either fire or get people who actually want to work
horrible rude service. the servers are disrespectful and they dont even tell you that hot water is $1.5 per person. you couldve just ordered tea. food isnt so delicious id come back here, you can go to other spots which are just as good. Food
Incredibly rude service. We felt rushed from the moment we sat down. We barely had time to take our coats off before our server told us to hurry up We quickly scribbled our order down on the provided sheet before we were rudely interrupted again by the server with a quick You re done?? before he rushed off. We cancelled our order and left. One of the worst experiences I ve had at a restaurant in recent memory. There are so many options downtown. Do not eat here!
Very poor service. The server was super rude. He kept rushing me to order 5min after I sat down and checked the menu. I cancelled my order and left.
Authentic Chinese food prepared to perfection. Everything we ordered was excellent and was devoured. It is a shame that it is not close by:-)
Food is authentic and delicious, service is OK except a Cantonese woman, who is against Mandarin-speaking guests and said position yourself correctly to us when putting my teacup back to the saucer.
good food.. great atmosphere.. top tier service
This restaurant is absolutely terrible. Shortly after we entered, a cockroach crawled toward us. When we pointed it out, the staff tried to make excuses, claiming it flew in from outside, even though the windows were sealed with tape. The overall hygiene of the restaurant was appalling. On top of that, they served us the wrong dishes and insisted we pay for their mistakes. The staff was rude and deceitful, forcing us to pay for items we didn t order. This restaurant operates like a scam. To make matters worse, they overcharged us by $100. If we hadn t argued with the staff about the incorrect charges at the restaurant, we might not have realized the overcharge until we got home.
Lovely service and delicious dim sum
The Peking duck was a disappointment. The skin looked dried up. The crepes were so dry that the edges had hardened and they got stuck together. The steamed fish was good. The organic fried wild rice was excellent.
0 star for the experience. Used to come here a lot, and experience was always good. This time the service was horrible, the waitresses had the worst attitude and were very disrespectful. If this place continues to be run like this, sure just a matter of time for them to lose all the customers.
There is hair in the mutton pot. Does the store manager only speak Cantonese and English? Poor communication and inability to welcome guests. I ordered a recommended dish and ended up eating a piece of bamboo shoot in my hair? If the service is not good, then dont market it. If you hold your neck and dont admit your mistakes, letting the customers suffer is the worst thing. After finding the hair, the first thing I did was take away the guests bowl instead of apologizing. I had a disgusting meal and would not bring my friends over again.
Service is terrible compared to before
Outstanding spot. Everything is tasty. Its a bit on the pricier side but worth every penny.
Came for lunch on Saturday and enjoyed the dim sum. Price is obviously more than your average dim sum restaurants, but it s justified by the quality and size of the items. The truffle siu mai, har gow, shrimp & chive pucks are almost 30% bigger than average and everything tasted fresh. The filling is generous and skin is thin, more filling than wrapping. Everything tasted great, but the Egg Yolk Sesame Balls & Truffle Siu Mai were standouts. So good! Service has lots of room for improvement, just like the average Chinese restaurant. You have to get their attention to flag them down, except for one gentleman who might ve been a supervisor/manager actually came to offer some hot water to refill our teapot. One thing that I noticed they do that most Chinese restaurants don t, is asking whether we had any allergies. My friend and I were catching up during lunch and we didn t feel rushed at any point, so that s a plus!
Been here twice. Very authentic and delicious. The manager let us wait for much longer to avoid the rain outside.
Ive come here for dimsum and dinner. Both are amazing. Dimsum is super fresh and dinner menu items are flavourful.
We ve been to dim sum spots all around North America. This is by far THE best. Preserved Egg & Pork Congee, Shu mai, and sesame seed balls were all sublime. Service was also very friendly
Authentic HK dim sum with good creation. The lobster shrimp dumplings are nicely presented in pink dumpling wrappers, taste better than transitional har gow, a must-try in this restaurant.
I love the dim sum here, they are so delicious!!! The price is good as well and they keep the restaurant clean. One star off cuz the service is not good.
Poor service
There were quite a lot of people and the experience was okay.
Service was great, food was decent.
Very delicious Cantonese food!
Terrible service and attitude.
We had dim sum. We ordered lot. The lobster chow min looked delicious. I saw a lot of table ordered that. We would want to order it next time
Very good food quality, big portions Beef and seafood +++ Food
Great quality authentic Cantonese cuisine with a new take, from Dim Sum for brunch to main dishes for evening dining. The dishes are both tasteful and artfully presented. One can both taste and see the chef s effort and give his/her heart in the works. Smart to separate the sauce for some dishes to keep the crispiness. Friendly and welcoming staff who are super attentive and give good recommendations. Indoor environment is spacious and comfortable with beautiful and soothing decor.
Ive been here several times for dim sum. Excellent standard. Great taste. We ordered standard items and all were done well. The lobster fried noodle dish was very filling. Recently went for dinner with a Chinese family and we ordered traditional dishes. The steamed fish, in particular, was excellent, made just right. Attentive service and friendly and professional staff. Lovely ambience. Parking was easy downstairs. Fees not waived/ $10 flat rate on weekends.
Excellent food and great service. Highly recommended. Hot and sour soup, lobster with crispy noodle, and stir fried yellow fin grouper are excellent and great value.
Best all day authentic dim sum in Toronto. Period.
I didnt know this place existed as its not in Torontos east or west Chinatowns. A friend took me here recently, and I was an instant If you like dim sum in downtown Toronto, try this place out. Its become our new favorite. The chow mein is pretty great (mixed, seafood, lobster, whatever) and the dim sum is quite elevated. This justifies a slightly more pricey menu. The staff are excellent for the most part, the bo lei is quite good, and the location is extremely convenient. My new downtown go to.
Food was amazing:) would recommend!!!
Went here to celebrate my birthday and it was absolutely amazing. They had no problem accommodating large parties and moving tables around for us. Their service is super quick and professional. I never felt rush to finish my meal and the food was high quality.
Ordered what I expected to be a worthy combination-- pumpkin and lobster bisque, $9. It was vile. Said I wanted to send it back. Mgr says not their policy and Did you read the menu? I said I am leaving-- gonna stop me? Upshot was they blew a $35 order and lost a customer over $9. Strange.
Went there with a friend and ordered Peking Duck it was delicious with fried rice. I would highly recommend it and the portion was big so it would be enough for 3 people even .
A place that youll take your in-laws to(if on good terms with them) Incredibly delicious shrimp dumplings and great mango pomelo sago Food
We had dim sum. I forgot to take photos, but everything was so delicious and some of the dumplings were absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend
We had dinner at this restaurant on July 20. We were assigned to a table close to the stairs. A waitress dropped a cup on the stairs and broke it. At least three small fragments hit my wifes face. After we showed one piece of the fragment to a waiter, a manager came over and arrogantly said, I will give you a discount. He did not apologize or warn us about the risk of fragments in the remaining dishes. We decided to stop eating and drinking to avoid any danger. When the waitress came with the bill, she apologized after we insisted on an apology. The manager reluctantly gave us a $15 discount with a very bad attitude. This was a very bad experience. The service is poor, and the staff, including the manager, do not know how to communicate with or respect customers.
Moon Palace serves many unique dim sum items, has a great menu and specializes in Cantonese food. The decor of the restaurant is pleasant and relaxing. We started out with veggie spring rolls which had fresh veggies and a super crunchy shell. We moved on to a few other items that were all delicious! All the dim sum was beautifully made to order vs being on a cart and pre-made. ALERT: The waitress advised us that we needed to order the dim sum before 7pm as the chefs making it leave and they don t offer it after that time. The main show stopper was the Cantonese egg noodles with a whole cut lobster! The sauce on the noodles was smooth, flavorful and married well with the lobster meat. The desert of the black sugar sponge cake was deliciously super moist and excellent with the tea. The waitress was very friendly and kept our table orderly and clean as we ate. Great gourmet Cantonese food experience and definitely a must go to place while visiting Toronto!
On August 2, 2024, my family and I dined at Moon Palace Cantonese Restaurant in Toronto, Canada. This dim sum restaurant has good ratings and has been talked about by a social media influencer. My daughter found it, so we decided to give it a try. When we started ordering, my daughter and I noticed some check marks on the menu items. Initially, I thought my sons had marked them, but they denied it. Later, we received more dishes than we ordered, which were too much to finish. Upon checking the menu, we discovered that seven dishes had been added in our menu as blue ink, while we used a pencil. It was clear the menu had been manipulated. An experienced waiter came and offered us a discount, but I insisted we didnt order the extra dishes and decided to pay for everything, including the seven extra dishes, which cost an additional $60 CAD. This restaurant scammed us, knowing we were tourists, by purposely adding extra dishes to the menu and serving them to our table without our notice. Based on our experience, I warn others to be cautious when dining here, as the menu might be manipulated to add extra food, especially targeting tourists. This incident marred our otherwise pleasant stay in Toronto. I hope no one else has to go through what we experienced at this restaurant.
Yummy dim sum and teriyaki sauce with angus beef is delicious
Excellent!
Our go to dim sum restaurant in the city. Good food, good service. On the pricier side for dim sum but you can always be guaranteed the same level of quality for every visit.
The snacks for tea are not bad! Chives and shrimp cakes are filling! Environment is ok!
service is good and food is also good, very typical cantonese ciisine
Duck was amazing, a lot foods for dimsum, places was clean, staffs friendly, but they are a bit busy, like it
The food was delicious
Lobster and dimsum done right.
I made a reservation. I noticed she was going to seat me in a section that was very nice, the high ceilings, but then later saw my 2 kids and was seated at the very back. The food was good and servers were kind. The jasmine tea wasnt very strong. Kind of faint and weak. We had the sweet and sour pork, chinese beef tenderloin, the homemade tofu and thr salt and pepper tofu. Sweet and sour was standard. Crunchy. I was a bit disappointed that the sugar decoration was like a tiny little broken sugar strands. The chinese beef tenderloin dish was small in my opinion. The taste of the sauce was well and the beef was very tender. The homemade tofu was really good. Quite pleasant with the sauce. The salt and pepper was my husbands favorite. Good portions and well seasoned. Washroom were well kept and tidy. The washrooms are downstairs and there are also more tables down there.
The food was okay, but the service was poor. The staff were unprofessional and inattentive, making for an unpleasant experience. If I had seen the negative reviews beforehand, I wouldn t have gone to this restaurant. If you prefer a hassle-free dining experience without dealing with poor service, I wouldnt recommend this restaurant.
Came here for a work dinner with my team. Great service and the food was fresh and delicious.
Cautionary tale to verify any promotions that they post! We had a pleasant dining experience here previously, around the time they first opened. We returned here for dim sum yesterday. We booked online for a weekday, after seeing a promotion that was posted Happy June special, Dim Sum 15% off Mondays to Friday. Booked 4 days prior, dined on Thursday Jun 27. Upon completing our meal, we were quite disappointed to find that they did not honour the promotion. They stated that it was over, apparently. It remains advertised on their online booking (interestingly their Father s Day promotion was still posted yesterday but removed today, suggesting they have left the June special despite not honouring it). Will be less inclined to return, although the food is good.
We recommend soup/shrimp as soon as we sit down at 11:00 in the morning. We support half a pound of shrimp. Drinking tea is just for snacks. I asked the waiter to bring me a takeaway box, but he brought me his credit card and asked us to pay the bill. We paid the full bill of 101 in cash. We paid 120 yuan and waited for change. We just wanted to drink a pot of tea and left first. The other waiter left first. Ying came over and asked if anyone could help us prepare to clear the stage. I told the waiter that I was waiting for change. After waiting for 8 minutes, no one followed up. Whats the service attitude? The food is fresh The dumpling fillings have changed! Kid-friendliness: No next time!
I think the food in CT New York is a lot better than this place. They don t even have my favorite (fry taro). They also gave me salt instead of sugar when I asked for it. (My tea was ruined). I would not recommend going here. The lady serving us was very nice though.
Food is good. The price is acceptable for this area and the ingredients are of good quality. Crispy noodles with mushroom and lobster in soup
Chinese food made with delicious, non-greasy ingredients
We went to try The Moon Palace Cantonese Cuisine at 40 Dundas Steeet West Toronto, on 7/16/2024. A day with torrential rain which flooded and closed the DVP, TTC subway closures at St. Patrick Station and Union Station. I have to say, overall we were disappointed. The Moon participated in the Toronto Summerlicious program from July 5 - 21 2024. However, there was no Summerlicious menu on our table and the servers did not mention this option when we looked through the menus. We ended up ordering a la carte. Price : On the high side Food: Meet expectations. The sauce for the egg noodles with lobster is a bit too starchy. Saltiness and msg levels are acceptable. Service: Below expectations. The impression we got was that servers were not happy and not friendly, no smiles and they did not talk to us other than taking our orders. We asked 2 different servers for hot tea and hot water mid way, both felt the tea pots on the table and replied its not cold and didnt give us hot tea and hot water. We also waived for service 2 other times, both were reciprocated with a simple wait. We waited patiently while we watched the servers finish setting up a table or clearing an unoccupied table. We strongly felt that we, as customers, were not a priority to the servers and definitely not a valued customer. Service did not worth the 15% gratuity but thats the lowest option when we paid for our meals. *We do not recommend this restaurant.
This is my happy place! Ive been coming here for a couple of years, and not once have we been disappointed. William, thank you for making it another positively fabulous experience.
First I requested a table that fitted 5 people because we don t prefer to sit on a huge table and eventually they compromised even not willing to We ordered what the kids want Sweet and sour pork: cooking is up to the standard but basically flour much more than the pork meat - not good Veggie: very good Beef: I think it is fine but my son said differently. It seems we have different opinions Deep fried Chicken: too dry too salty The shrimp is excellent I ordered bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and requested to take home if I can t finish. Initially they said can t. Then I explained and asked them to read the law of Ontario after blah blah blah they are fine. I think they should well understand the rules better than the customs need to tell them
My friend and I ordered from the sunmerlicious lunch menu. Both the food and service were fantastic! The portion size of the main dish was decent and we had leftovers to take home. Food quality was standard and enjoyable. I left my water flask behind and the staff chased us down the street and I really appreciated it! Thank you so much!
Ordered a peking duck and the lobster and dim sum, the Peking Duck can be served in two different ways that was something new, the food tasted ok for the price that was placed. The service and atmosphere was very nice and enjoyable.
One of my Dim Sum favourite spots. Great food and excellent location.
Follow @bredgyeats for yummy food pictures! When I dont want to travel to Markham for good quality dim sum, I can always fall back to this spot located conveniently in the heart of downtown, with a slight modern twist that hooked me right in. I especially like the Siu Mai with black truffle, which adds another depth of flavour that compliments the porkiness of each bite. The squid tentacles have a satisfying snap and a tender texture thats not too oily and fragrant with five spice.
The food was pretty good! The staff was friendly. We did have a mix up with my food but they were determined to fix it even though I told them it was okay. Outstanding service.
From Pennsylvania, this is better than any dim sum place near Philadelphia. Typhoon lobster combo is excellent. Dim sum is very authentic Cantonese taste. They are running special promotions when you dine in. HighlyRecommend!
Disappointingly the dim sum service is cut off early in the evening. We arrived around 7:45pm. Things seemed a bit rushed. The rice dishes were great and the pork with Chinese squash was very good. Adding the chili oil was great.
Very poor experience, we were in the basement
I feel like the food used to be better. I remember really enjoying the smokiness of the General Tso chicken and light battering but now it s just a lot of batter and overly sweet. Not that different from Panda Express. Which would be fine but it costs way more than Panda Express.
Saw this place on instagram, thought it was really good! A huge disappointment when tried the dine-in experience. Food was not fresh, not well prepared, not mentioning the taste. One of the worst dim sum places in Toronto!
A clean restaurant with a modern interior, offering a large Cantonese menu. The service was fantastic, the staff was very attentive. Unfortunately the food missed the mark. No doubt the style of the preparation was genuinely Cantonese, however most of the menu we got was insanely salty.
I went here for dim sum and ordered some main dishes as well. Everything generally tastes good, and I would go again. And if you re curious, I went on a weekend morning and we were seated immediately.
One of the best tapas places in all of Toronto. All food I ve tried is excellent. And it s reasonably priced too. I don t know why they don t display the prices more predominately, people would probably order more if they knew the prices. We only found out how much we spent when we got our bill at the end. And we were pleasantly surprised.
Authentic Cantonese cuisine in downtown. It s a great find. We enjoyed the food and service. Seating was spacious and comfortable. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly.
Good food good service
I felt very uncomfortable. When I checked out, an older waitress asked me whether to pay by cash or by card. She said that cash was a 50% discount. I brought the cash slip before I answered because I didn t bring enough cash. I wanted to pay by card. I thought I had brought all the orders, so just pay cash... After I gave them all, the tip was $1 less. The waiter immediately got angry and handed the bill folder back to us... Is tipping mandatory? so uncomfortable
really good! don t have many photos but their dim sum is amazing
If you are looking for a Chinese restaurant with a comfortable dining environment in DT, I highly recommend this place. The food is of a certain standard, the portions are generous and the presentation is beautiful. Most of the service staff are professional and dedicated, but some of the service is rude and unfriendly.
4.3/5 Another great meal. We tried the dinner special for 2 which was less than $100 (before tax + tip). Very good value for money with a soup and 3 mains (Crispy Egg Noodles with Lobster, Braised Eggplant, and Sweet and Sour Pork). Plenty of leftovers to take home! Review from Feb 2023 We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon. Reservations are prioritized but they also take walk-ins. It s a clean and quiet space with a relaxing atmosphere. The food is good. We tried the 1) Cantonese Chow Mein, 2) Pan Fried Turnip Cake With Conpoy & Chinese Preserved Meat, 3) Black Truffle Pork & Shrimp Dumplings (Shumai), 4) Supreme Shrimp Dumplings (Har gow), 5) Pork Spare Ribs in Garlic & Black Bean Sauce. The meat and seafood had great texture and flavour. Better than we d expected. Yum! I would not order the pork spare ribs again but otherwise happy with our choices. The dim sum ranges from $7-12 per dish. I would not recommend coming to anyone seeking the best value for money, but we were happy to pay a bit extra for the convenience and peaceful atmosphere as well as the cleanliness. If you like lobster, they have a variety of dishes with lobster!
Very fresh ingredient! Great place to dine in!
I heard about this place after attending a Christmas Party at Lobster Burger Bar. There was a beautiful lobster tower and we found out it was actually from Moon Palace! After speaking with some friends we decided to make a booking at Moon Palace and we definitely were not disappointed. Of course we had a lobster dish which lived up the expectations, but their beef, mushroom/veggies and noodle dishes were also great - flavorful, not dry at all and definitely seasoned well. I read some reviews about the staff being unattentive or unfriendly but that was not the case at all with our visit. They were very friendly, constantly checked on us and made sure we had a great experience overall.
The food is very exquisitely prepared, full of color and flavor, the portions are generous, and the food is served quickly. The dining environment is elegant and comfortable, most of the diners are of relatively good quality, and very few of them talk loudly. Highly recommended!
Really like this place for dim sum! Atmosphere is great, more of a fancy vibe compared to what you ll find in Chinatown. Service is great as well. Dim sum itself is great, and pretty affordable when split between a group. We left feeling super full and only paid around $25 pp for 4 people.
A fantastic Cantonese restaurant in the heart of the city, especially when so many similar establishments have moved North and East of Toronto. Moon Palace Cantonese Cuisine brings high end Cantonese fare at a slightly above-average price. We went for Sunday Dim Sum and ordered some typical items: Har Gow, Siu Mai, Shrimp Rice Roll, BBQ Puff Pastry, and more. Everything arrived fresh, the portions were generous, and the servers went above expectations in service and friendliness. I would highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for excellent quality Cantonese and Chinese food. Well definitely be back to try their dinner menu and peking duck. Vegetarian options: They have an excellent Tofu and Mushroom dish thats both delicious and generously portioned.
Love the warmed teriyaki sauce for the rice wrap! A very nice touch! Generous portion with the beef meatballs
Delicious & affordable dishes perfect for sharing! Veggies, chicken, beef and scallops so very fresh and quick. Would recommend!
Terrible place. Food was awful and bland, slow and tasteless. Terrible slow service. Ill never come here again. Not clean either. I was disappointed. Should have listened to the reviews.
I made a large group booking (around 70 people) here and the restaurant manager, Wilson, and his staff were very helpful throughout the booking process. There were some dietary restrictions among the group such as vegetarian and gluten-free and the restaurant catered to it. The restaurant helped create a set menu for the group dim sum lunch. Everyone who came really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere! The food also came out pretty quickly - shortly after everyone arrived. One small suggestion would be to have an equal portion of food for everyone at the table, for example a piece of dim sum for each person. People had to split pieces but it was ok as the pieces/ portions are quite large. Thank you Moon Palace team for hosting such a large group!
I was looking at other people s pictures that they posted and I m wondering why they ordered basic Chinese dishes you can get anywhere. The menu has many items that are unique that I can t get back home. We ordered honey bbq pork crisps, lobster dumplings, black truffle pork and shrimp dumplings, xo sauce scallop rice noodle roll, and durian crisps. Prices can be expensive but if you look at the beautiful interior, it makes sense. We didn t have a problem with service, we got hot tea and they brought out our food in a fair amount of time. -honey bbq pork crisps 5 - very addicting. Crispy and bbq pork was succulent. -lobster dumplings 5 - nice big pieces of lobster. Very hot. -black truffle pork and shrimp dumplings 5 - strong black truffle smell/taste. Very delicious. -xo sauce scallop rice noodle roll 3 - I love rice noodle rolls but the scallop version fell flat. Kind of a boring dish with little flavor. -durian crisps 4 - it was very decent. Durian taste/smell is not strong.
I don t usually post when I have a bad experience but this one warrants a bad review. As soon as we walked in; they had my friend and I at the end of an almost empty restaurant. When the food came out it was not hot at all and most of the gravies were essentially cornstarch + water only. When the manager came around and asked how the food was I told him how I was very disappointed and he just walked away. When the waitress came around and asked and I was beginning to tell her the manager walked by and asked her to leave without even hearing me out. Further they kept watching us and refilled everyone else s tea pot except ours. The service was horrible and the food disastrous. Would not recommend.
This review was more given for the service given. As we brought our VIP clients there as thank you dinner and was disappointed at the service provided. We werent happy about some of the dishes served and asked for the manager (an elder gentleman with glasses), we were surprised that his English wasnt fluent, and gave us attitudes. I will not be back with my clients, thats for sure.
The waiter was so enthusiastic but the food was delicious
I dined here with my family on weekends. The food and service were very good. The only drawback was that I saw the old manager in a suit putting his feet on the cabinet where tableware and cups were placed to tie his shoelaces. It was very disgusting. I was originally in a happy mood, but my behavior was greatly reduced when I saw this manager.
A very cost-effective Cantonese restaurant, worth trying, but there are too few desserts, so recommended.
If you are a meat lover, specially Prawns, shrimps...and you enjoy the mild and aromatic flavors of the Chinese Cuisine..this place is worth a visit. I really enjoyed their delicious Dumplings menu..Also loved the flavorful Chicken and prawn Fried Rice. They also have a decent sitting space.
Good
The food is delicious, Anna s service attitude is very good, and the environment is beautiful and clean
The food is delicious. Annies service attitude is great. The environment is elegant and comfortable. Its a restaurant that makes you check in.
Our server May is very helpful, friendly and know how to recommend food for us. She is so good. Btw, Peking duck is so yummy. I am definitely to visit again and again.
Moon Palace is a rather delightful restaurant, but only acceptable if you re sitting in the main dining area. The basement feels like a dungeon and the front part of the restaurant is filled with overwhelming cooking smell. The food is of good quality and is priced at a justifiable ~ 20% above average. Servers are tentatively, in general, and are kind to accommodate our requests. I would like to go back there to experience their dim sum for sure.
My recent visit to Moonpalace Chinese Food for a Sunday dim sum feast was nothing short of spectacular. With a party of nine, we had made reservations in advance and were eagerly anticipating our meal. The restaurant s location in Atrium on Bay, directly connected to the subway and situated at the bustling Yonge and Dundas intersection, made it incredibly convenient for all of us to meet. This prime location in the heart of downtown Toronto is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a great meal with easy access. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff who were exceptionally nice and friendly, making us feel immediately welcomed. Their attentive service throughout our meal ensured a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. The dim sum menu was comprehensive, featuring all the traditional favourites we were hoping for. We ordered a full table of food, and the variety and quality of dishes were fantastic. From succulent shrimp dumplings to perfectly steamed pork buns, every bite was a delight. What truly impressed us was the value - the meal came to around $30 per head, which, considering the quantity and quality of the food we enjoyed, was remarkable. We left the restaurant extremely full and satisfied, a testament to the generous portions and the skill of the chefs. The ambiance of Moonpalace added to the overall pleasure of our meal. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, creating a welcoming environment where we could relax and savour our time together. Moonpalace Chinese Food is a gem in downtown Toronto for anyone craving authentic dim sum in a friendly and convenient setting. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and great value makes it a must-visit. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience, and I am already looking forward to my next visit. Whether you re a local or just passing through, make sure to add Moonpalace to your list of dining destinations!
The lobster pasta I ordered tasted weird, like eating rice wine noodles. When the waiter responded, he said he would ask the chef and then he never responded again.
Trying out this spot after everyone recommended me this place for dim sum in downtown Toronto. Love the interior decors and the food was amazing. This is definitely a fancier dim sum spot that has their own twist on well-known dishes!
Yum! This is my friends fav dim sum place and I understand why!! Super filling and great portion sizes. I especially loved the squid and pork buns. Great location too since it s right next to the eaton centre. It s a very lowkey place but I highly recommend!
202310 I originally wanted to have a very down-to-earth morning tea, but my friend brought me to this beautiful restaurant and said, Sorry, this is not what I want! It turned out delicious! The food is indeed a little more expensive, but the snacks are exquisite and every dish is delicious. It is very suitable for bringing elders to show sincerity.
The food is amazing here and service is quick. The price is on the higher end, but portion sizes are large.
Food as good if not better then China, comment from my Chinese wife.service exceptional
Just order the hot and sour soup. It s the worst. No hot or sour. Just bland thick goo. Overpriced and inadequate restaurant
Randomly strolled into this place. My overall feeling is mixed. Most dishes are good, some are great, but the shumai was atrocious. I can see that the waiters tried to be helpful but they ended up being not so helpful.
The food is fantastic, but I wouldnt have it is cheap though. The food quality is good and taste authentic Chinese though.
Went there on a weekday with friends for an early diner. It s a big restaurant as they have space on the street level but also downstairs at mall level. We did not need to make a reservation. We really enjoyed our food there and it came pretty quick. There are lots of options to pick from and they have a lot of lobster items. It s Cantonese cuisine. They have multiple menus. Some for dim sum and other for more traditional dishes. We mostly tried dim sum items. We got the supreme shrimp nice noodle rolls, the lobster shrimp and asparagus dumplings, supreme shrimp dumplings, pan fried turnip cake, pork with shrimp paste veggie bean curd rolls, honey grilled mushroom bean curd rolls, and the Yang chow fried rice. We enjoyed everything. Special mention to the turnip cake which was really nicely pan fried and slightly crispy on the outside. The grilled mushroom bean curd rolls weee good but we all felt very thirsty and full after because of it being fried. The rice had a good taste. We also had the mango pomelo sago dessert which came in a decent portion. It was good but not the best one we ve had. Service was good as food came fast and our glasses were filled with water regularly without us having big to ask. Staff was friendly and they also ran after us because we forgot something at our table, which we really appreciated. Would definitely come back. Toilets are downstairs, which can be a long way for people with less mobility. They were clean and the Toilet paper was thick, which is nice.
First time here because it s near my hotel. The server is friendly and helpful. All dim sum we ordered are flavorful. Definitely worth your visit
We ordered too much and I was full before the lobster noodle was served. But it was truly amazing so that I had a bowl of noodle after I was full. Best noodle I ve ever had. The right amount of creaminess with seafood. What else can I say?
Feels like very high end dim sum; more like a place you would see in North York or Richmond hill, but in the heart of DT. They separate prices on their dim sum menu based on size. While it might seem more expensive at first, the portions are really large. Both the har gow and shiumai were noticeably larger than anything you d get at a Chinatown dim sum joint. The sweet bun with the lotus paste and egg was my favourite; it felt a little like eating the filling of a moon cake but wasn t nearly as dense or overpowering. Quality was really good and the atmosphere was serene and upscale feeling. Will come back to try some of the dishes on their main menu.
My visit to the Moon Palace was underwhelming. The food, though edible, leaned towards the bland side and was excessively oily. The pricing seemed a bit steep for the overall dining experience, leaving room for improvement in flavor and value.
We got the family combo with a 5 pound lobster. Great service, food, and atmosphere at a deservedly higher price.
We came to visit Toronto and we heard good things about this restaurant. However, the food was bland and has lots of room for improvement. The service was very poor, we were moved 3 times and our waitress would come every 1 minute rushing us to choose our food and then, told us she was going to pick our food for us. Although, we were deciding what to eat for maybe 5-7 mins. Awful experience.
Pricey as you can probably guess, but excellent quality dim sum.
Compliments to the chef. Ive never had cheung fun (rice rolls) as good as this. Came for the lobster chow mein. A full lobster. Unbelievable. Not market price, it was a reasonable $28. Love this place. My new go to restaurant in Toronto. Have to try the lobster hak gow and other dim sum next time. Elegant dining experience at affordable prices.
Had a great experience with may and Winnie as our servers, EXCELLENT SERVICE
Their food is so good. One must try it
This is my second time here. I like their food very much and the service is also very good. It makes customers enjoy their food and feel happy. This is the best they can do.
Nice food, and fair price.
Really good Cantonese food. Although this place markets itself as authentic, some dishes have some unique twists to them.
The food was tasty but the seafood was not fresh, it was slightly sour and gave both me and my friend diarrhea after eating there. For the price we paid, really disappointed compared to last visit. When the issue was brought up, the dish was taken away but it was not acknowledged by the waiting staff afterwards.
great dim sum and crispy noodles
We have come here countless times with large and small groups. The service has been straight forward and very professional. They always fill our tea pots and take away our empty plates. The food is amazing quality; Fresh and very tasty!!!! We feel like we come home every time we enter.
Incredible dimsums - been several times and keep returning. Says everything.
Nice dumplings and fast service.
Peking duck has super crispy skin and tender meat, and the pancakes are thin enough that they are translucent. Absolutely perfect. Flavours are excellent, and food is fresh. Had a wonderful time, and the wait time for the food is not long at all! Highly recommend to those craving Peking duck. We did run out of pancakes, I think there were 10 pancakes in total, and an extra 10 is an additional 10 dollars. But at the end we just paired the rest of the duck slices with the rice dish thats included in the 2 part Peking duck meal ($78.88).
The dim sum is very delicious with the authentic Hong Kong-style taste in it. It is a bit pricey due to the downtown core location. Overall, it was a very good experience, and I will go again when the dim sum craving calls.
Washroom has been out of service for 5 years. For the price they charged they ask you to use the washroom in the mall. Too cheap to fixed the washroom for 5+ year? doesnt make any sense.
Great service and delicious food
Very good/tasty food & portions. Service was good too. Wife/I enjoyed several delightful dishes including beef, rice & dim sum. Food came out quick/hot. Great place for good Cantonese food
A group of four avid ex-chounder foodie friends, both local and overseas, gathered for a Dim Sum Chowmeet downtown. For me, the result was a most unexpected and surprisingly enjoyable Dim Sum experience. Overall, most dishes were well executed, some even possess stellar quality that can rival some of uptown best! The dishes we ordered included: - Salted Pork and Thousand Year Eggs Rice Congee - Fried Squid Tentacles with Spiced Salt and Pepper - Stirred Fried Cheung-Fun ( rice crepe ) with X-O Sauce - Steamed Cheung-Fun with Minced Beef and Chinese Greens - Har-Gow, Steamed Shrimp Dumplings - Steamed Scallops Dumplings - Steamed Chicken Feet with Savory Bean Paste Sauce - Pan Fried Chives and Shrimp Pancake Dumpling - Ham-Sui-Gok ( Fried,Minced Pork Filler Savory Doughnut ) - Steamed Curry Baby Cuttle-Fish - Steamed Ma-Lai-Go , Brown Sugar Sponge Cake - Steamed Bao with Lotus Seed Paste and Salted Egg Yolk Filling As I alluded to in my above opening address. To me, the outcome of this delightful Dim Sum lunch came as a total surprise. Coming from uptown Richmond Hill/Markham, where most of GTA s best Dim Sum specialist restaurant gathers. It was beyond my imagination that some equally high standard Cantonese Dim Sum products could be found in downtown locations. I was particularly impressed with the following: - The made-from-scratch Rice Congee with excellent consistency and well seasoned ingredients - The superb full of wok-hay stirred fry Cheung-Fun with X-O sauce. The best rendition encountered this year. - The piping hot, super flavourful non-battered Fried Squid Tentacles. Sorry! Casa Victoria, please kindly move over .you have just been dethroned! - The Pan-fried Chives and Shrimp patties .generously stuffed with juicy and well seasoned filling. Rest of the dishes, though nothing special to shout about were generally acceptable by Toronto standard. The only downside to this meal?! ..caused by one of those one in a hundred year events ? The fire alarm of the building complex was suddenly activated half way through our meal with deafening noises emanating from the loudspeaker located directly above our table!!.......False alarm that lasted for an agonizing 15+ minutes! What a joke!! Overall, still a most enjoyable and memorable luncheon gathering featuring good food and great company!
Great dimsum selections! Although it s on the pricier side for chinese food and dimsum around the area, I think it s worth a try. They all tasted fresh and elevated. The ambience is also great for dinner with friends and families. Will definitely come back :)
High quality Dim Sum with great service. Can easily have a nice lunch in less than an hour. Nice atmosphere which can be good for a business meal as well.
We ordered the lobster on crispy noodle with abalone sauce. Lobster was fresh and the dish consisted of various kinds of mushrooms. Noodle was crispy with delicious sauce. From Calgary, Alberta
We were given a wonderful round table and had about 6-7 dishes, including a beautifully prepared Peking Duck. Delicious food, great service and incredibly reasonable cost. Id highly recommend this restaurant!
The best Cantonese food EVER!!!!!. What a find . Great service , great food great restaurant.
Very high quality dim sum and they offer both traditional and fusion style dim sum. Everything comes in great portion and it s definitely worth it! The decor was nice and very spacious, definitely a good place to dine at! Would definitely come back for more!
Amazing food and ambience, curated menu revolving some fancy ingredients but definitely cooked with care and attention. Every dish is cooked with balance, and hasnt left me with a terrible aftertaste yet. Ive been here on multiple occasions and have yet to find one dish that is not tasty. Prices may be on the higher side but the portions are ridiculously large. Service is a hit or miss with wait staff always pushing for you to a duck or lobster combo. They are also attentive enough to ensure teapots are always filled and that plates get refreshed. The charm of the restaurant has definitely deteriorated over time where many parts of the restaurant needing a much needed clean/refresh or even routing checks/cleaning. Hope this place improves.
I ve been waiting years to try Peking duck, and this dinner was one of the best culinary experiences of my life. My family showed up later in the evening (close to an hour and a half before close) and the staff were still gracious enough to prepare this for us. All the staff were so inviting and we had great conversations. The duck itself and the mushroom/beef side dish it was served with were absolutely amazing and it was the perfect amount of food for three people. I cannot have imagined a better first Peking duck experience. If I could give 6 stars I would!
Awesome dinner and dimsum. Magnificent service. Great for a bigger party as well!
At this price, its very unpalatable. The environment downstairs is average and the service is very bad
Delicious!!! Absolutely delicious!! It can be a bit confusing at first if youre not a local but this is an incredible place you cant miss!!! Delicious, I cant say this too many times. Delicious!
Excellent. Most of the diners were Asian.
I ll start by saying the beef dish was amazing. The dumplings were very good as well, but the pork ribs I really wouldn t recommend due to the high fat content and very little meat. The reason for the one star reduction though is the slow and rather sloppy service.
there is a black fly in the soup!!!!!!! Disgusting!!!!!!! Never back again!!!!!!!!
I took my daughter to DT. I read the Cantonese food that the reviews said was very good, so I went to try it. Its right next to MUJI in Dundas, so you dont have to walk far, which is very convenient. From the menu, we can see that there is a wide variety of dishes, including all kinds of seafood, including lobster, but there are only two of us. I ordered chicken and a piece of fried rice as a snack. The portion was quite large and the taste was OK. I couldn t finish it and even took it home. It was very good.
Customer service is very good! I like the food it s excellent and Cantonese food! I will try it again!
Dined there several times. The quality of the dishes has varied from very good to unremarkable. The service was always good, except for one incident during my last time there that motivated me not to dine at Moon Palace henceforth. I ordered one dish in advance for a person who had not yet arrived, but ordered the wrong entree. Within 90 seconds, I called back a waitress to change the order, and she said that could easily be done, and not to worry. One minute after that, an older Asian lady (perhaps one of the owners?) came back and kept saying to me, three or four times, But you already ordered something else. I replied that I rectified the order less than a minute and a half after I placed it. Then, she in an upset tone insisted that the order had already been started. I said that I was sorry about the confusion, but did notify waitstaff as soon as I was able to in less than 90 seconds, really, the call log on my phone even indicated such. I do not believe this lady was being truthful in her position, as there were 5 6 other parties that had arrived just before us and placed their orders how could the kitchen have already begun ours? In the end, I left an 18% tip only for the service I received from the other waitress, but the older ladys approach to handling our situation has set me against returning to that restaurant in the future. I do not know why that lady treated me so, but thank you for nothing, maam!!
Great food, generous servings
Been craving for Cantonese food and this is one of the best Cantonese Restaurant that we ve tried. Will come back again and will try other food in the menu.
Dim sum here is reasonable compared to what is available downtown as there arent very many dim sum restaurants in this area. Prices slightly higher than nearby Cantonese competitor so the benefit is not having to wait for seating... Its also located in a mall so its comfortable should you need to wait. Service was as expected
Always drive pass by here and want to try it. Finally got a chance to go with friends. The environment is so comfortable ,clean and beautiful, but what impressed me most was the service. The waiters can always see where you need help, and timely deliver knives, forks, paper towels, empty dishes and other things to make it more convenient for you to enjoy the food. Especially impressed is the waiter named zoe, work efficiency is very high, smiling service attitude is very good, worthy of five-star praise
Came here for dinner so this is not a review of their dimsum. Tried their seafood fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Fried rice was very good (9/10) some chilli oil on the side wouldve been the perfect condiment. The sweet and sour pork was okay, felt it was abit hard/could be jucier. But the sugar detailing on the side was nice (not sure if it was neccesary as i was confused if i should eat it together w the meat or after). Atmosphere is nice! Kinda upscale and chinaware is delicate and elegant.
Amazing service and food! One of the best restaurants for Cantonese food in downtown Toronto. We ordered their menu set which had soup and ducks and it was perfect for 8 people. Food was SUPER good and service was exceptionally top. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
The only Chinese restaurant downtown I can eat at now. For those of us who can t trek to Markham, it s the best. And you can tell because you look around and hear diners speaking Cantonese. And Chinese people are PICKY. Originally I doubted that there was a good, authentic Cantonese restaurant across the street from the Eaton Centre but boy was I wrong. The food is fresh and delicious. Those black sesame balls full of sweet and salty custard are one of the best things I ve put into my mouth. My half-sister grew up in Hong Kong and thought they were too full of custard .this is the level of scrutiny my family has. But we all agreed it s excellent here. Only weird thing is they put cheese on their sticky rice. Sacrilege! But you can just ask them to not. No need zhuzh up a good thing. But the actual sticky rice is great - includes Chinese sausage and egg yolk. Lots of place skimp on this and just use ground meat and like one slice of Chinese mushroom.
My recent visit to Moon Palace was marred by subpar customer service. The servers consistent rudeness and the evident lack of literacy skills among some employees detracted from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. Moon Palace needs to prioritize staff training and communication improvements to ensure a more pleasant atmosphere for patrons.
Moon Palace Cantonese, nestled within The Atrium on Bay, offers a dining experience that beautifully marries great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service. While its location might not be the most prominent, its truly a hidden gem for those in search of authentic Cantonese cuisine in Toronto. The food at Moon Palace Cantonese is exceptional. With a menu boasting a wide range of dishes, from classic dim sum to mouthwatering stir-fries and succulent seafood, theres something to delight every palate. The flavors are authentic, and the quality of ingredients shines through in every bite. Despite being tucked away, the restaurant manages to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The tasteful decor and cozy seating arrangements make it an excellent choice for both intimate dinners and gatherings with friends and family. The friendly and attentive service at Moon Palace Cantonese is a standout feature. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and eager to assist with recommendations, ensuring a memorable dining experience. While Moon Palace Cantonese may be on the pricier side, the generous portions and outstanding quality of the food make it worth every penny. Youll leave feeling satisfied and impressed by the culinary journey youve embarked upon. Moon Palace Cantonese offers exceptional Cantonese cuisine, a pleasant atmosphere, and top-notch service. While it might be a bit expensive, the overall dining experience, including the delicious food and generous portions, more than justifies the cost. Its a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic Cantonese flavors in the heart of the city.
Walk in randomly, food is super delicious!
Second time here. Really like their soup and attentive service.
Quiet, nice environment. Their tofu was remarkable.
The restaurant was run by different teams, the ones who would bring the food on the table seem unhappy, they gave us fork and spoon that we asked but stated next time ask your waiter, with a tone. Food was good, we liked homemade tofu plate. The place seems like it s in a need of maintenance, washrooms were not maintained. Lastly, be aware! They charge service charge on your bill (15%) and they ask you for tips as well. When pointed to the waiter he apologized and removed the tip screen from the machine - not sure if anyone had the same experience! If yes, I would say it may have been done deliberately, and it sounds like a scam.
Coming form a Chinese person, it s just normal Chinese food. There s definitely better for cheaper.
Nothing beats the noodles here. Soup was delicious too. Dumplings are addicting
Ive been a returning customer for over a year. The food is always tasty and the presentation is great. The price is a bit on the expense side. I probably have tried most of their menus and everything taste delicious. My recent experience dining at this restaurant was quite awful. I feel their service has really gone downhill. We ordered a typhoon lobster combo with fried rice. The lobster was massive, like around 4.5 lbs I think. When I saw the bill, it was around $150 for just the lobster and they charged an additional $10 for choosing Typhoon. I asked why they charged extra when it didnt say on the menu and the waiter who took our order didnt mention anything. This waiter just told me, yeah but Typhoon costs $10 extra. She asked the manager and he basically just told me the same thing. I refused to pay it because how is it fair charging extra $ for something that is not mentioned on the menu. They ultimately updated the bill but they clearly didnt look too happy about it and kinda gave me a sour look. Not sure if Im going back to this place anymore after this. For the amount of $$ I paid, I could at least get a good service and not get disrespected like that. Its too bad because their food is actually really good. Maybe I will go back when they change management or something.
Went for lunch with parents on during the week. Dimsum was very good, a bit pricy but understandable given their location. The fried noodles with lobster was also delicious. Spacious seating, good service, one of the only authentic Cantonese restaurants in the downtown core (outside of Chinatown)
