876 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4W 2J1, Canada
got chana and aloo roti. roti thick and tough, would be fine if the filling was good. its bland. not expensive (10 bucks) but not a very big serving. again, that would be fine if the filling was good. it was not
Best roti and doubles in the downtown core! They have a great daily lunch special for $8.85 which you can't beat in the city these days. I always stop by if I'm at yonge and bloor and hungry
I bought a chicken roti sandwhich for $20.00 from Randy’s at the CNE and found a dead fly in my sandwhich. I am so disappointed given I used to love Randy’s and was excited to have it after so long. Can’t believe this happened and I realized after eating it… so disgusted.
If i can give this food a 0 star i would. My sister found hair in her food on top of that the people there seem like they were mad jus by the way they were talking. Yall lucky I live a bit far otherwise i would of come back. Do better and make sure yall season ur food properly and no hairs‼️ For the price yall be charging I expected better
Food heaven! Today, I devoured the most mouthwatering chicken doubles and curried goat roti that left me in awe at Randy’s roti shop! I walked the entire yonge street looking for this place. The chicken doubles were a revelation - tender, juicy chicken smothered in a rich, spicy sauce, all wrapped up in crispy, golden fried barra. And the curried goat roti? Absolutely sublime! The slow-cooked goat meat simply fell apart, infused with a deep, aromatic curry flavor that paired perfectly with the soft, fluffy roti. Each bite was a flavor explosion that left me craving more and making me feel like if I’m in Trinidad 🇹🇹! If you're a fan of Caribbean cuisine, do yourself a favor and track down these doubles and roti - your taste buds will do the happy. I fully recommend Randy’s roti shop 💯
Awful place. Every once in awhile I get a craving for doubles. I made a mistake ordering from this trashy place. The doubles have no filling, and the dough wasn’t cooked properly. It’s disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves. There aren’t a lot of places in my area that sell them, but I’d rather never eat doubles again over giving this place my money.
A nice, little Caribbean restaurant close to Yonge and Bloor, in front of Reference Library. The doubles are made with channa (chickpeas) and a little bit of hot sauce and the roti's come with a choice of chicken, beef or goat and the good old coleslaw! What really surprised me how inexpensive the food is. Two doubles for $5 and roti lunch special for $8! They also offer a number of other goodies in their menu including bake and shark, aloo pie, pholourie, poutine. The sauces are also unique and probably homemade. I loved the tamarind and medium spicy sauce. The restaurant is small but leans and the food is delicious! chicken, potato & chickpea roti!
My second visit at this location. I really enjoyed the jerk chicken with rice and peas. I tried the doubles for the first time, OMG I wish I bought more. Very delicious! The food was very fresh and extremely tasty. Will definitely return and recommend. Thank you staff.
Very small portions for the price you pay; unhygienic - touching food either dirty finger nails; rude staff.
As a Guyanese college student, living away from home, this chicken curry and roti hit the spot! Exactly what I was craving--some home food!
I ordered doubles and it spiked my sugar so high. I am a diabetic and doubles are not made with sugar. I really wish people would stop using sugar in food.
Great food but the owners and employees were arguing and shouting at eachother
Try to buy ribs from the truck anytime I ve seen it, this year I ordered a half rack of ribs for $35 & was very disappointed to get two ribs with big bones and next to no meat on them. The picture with the price had four huge ribs but I get only two with no meat Don t get me wrong, the people working are nice but have no control to do anything other than encourage clients to go elsewhere when brought up.
Tried jerk chicken poutine at the CNE . Only have 1 word . GARBAGE
They were selling rotis and doubles that were not fresh and premade a day or earlier in the morning at the cne and it made our stomachs go bad. $5 a double that wasnt fresh is a rip off and speaks volumes of the owners. Stay far from this place to stay well.
Ribs were terrible no flavor. Chicken not bad. Cant even make good fries- not a drop of salt
The service was poor, the food was cold, and the wait time was excessive. Overall, it was not worth even a single star. Your review will definitely help others avoid a similar disappointment.
Disappointing Experience! I recently visited this place after a long time, driven by hunger and anticipation, but it was a disappointment. Here s a breakdown of my experience: Taste: 3/5 The flavour was ok but not good or exceptional. Service: 2/5 The service was slow and the staff inattentive. Not even considered my request. Portion: 0/5 The portion sizes were tiny, especially for the price. Pricing: Overpriced Spent $10 and left still hungry. I ve had better and larger rotis elsewhere for less. For a $10 meal, I expected to be full, but I wasn t. I regret coming here and wouldn t recommend it. Find a better spot for roti doubles, or risk wasting your money. #AtYourOwnRisk
Food is amazing only thing is one of the staff was pretty rude. Other than that amazing food
Love their spicy Doubles, would come back for more
Goat roti costs + 1 pop= 27.5$ Thats the most expensive roti in the GTA. Not worth it at all !!! Food : 1/5
These people dont know how to cook. Food are very tasteless for the most part. Their curries esp. the curry is raw...and taste less. The only item. I enjoy at that place is their doubles. Polories leaking in oil. The vegetables are tasteless.Like their hot sauces. Tried couple of the sweets...they ok as well. Cant stand how BLACK the jerk chicken looks as though its roasted in ashes. Only go there once In a while for doubles. Cant even have the Cold Slaw decent looking...chunks of cabbage
Awful store. Rude staff. Poor personal hygiene.
I truly enjoy the food from this restaurant when they ACTUALY accepts my skip orders. This restaurant is notorious for cancellation of orders from skip with WIFI issues or Skip isnt turn on or something else. They are not reliable. However, having said that, once you get lucky (clients that cannot go to the store), the food is good.
Today I ordered take out doubles. While preparing them I noted that the woman at the cash register handled the patty with her bare hands. She had not washed her hands and was not wearing gloves. I promptly requested a refund for the doubles. Management needs to remind staff that they must follow sanitary, hygienic practices while handling the food.
The doubles and pholourie is usually decent here - perhaps during a lunch rush, when you can guarantee a certain level of freshness in the food. I cannot say the same for times outside of peak hours. I ordered some doubles and pholourie yesterday - only the pholourie was edible - and that was because I physically witnessed that part of the order being made. And for that, my review is at 3-stars. I also ordered 1 plain (shell) buss-up roti - which I was told would be made fresh, and actually wasnt. The woman on roti duty didnt seem keen on making only one, and had the other two women circle her as a stale, half-cooked shell was pulled from a bin and wrapped together for me with the rest of my order. The best part, was that this was done with smirks on their faces - likely assuming I didnt catch on, or couldnt pick up on what was being said - not knowing I am of Trinidadian decent. :) I would have been understanding had I been told they didnt have the capacity to facilitate that part of the order, or came up with some other reasonably sensible excuse - I would have opted without it, if it meant receiving what I did in the end. I was so disappointed - I was really rooting for you ladies! Ah well - this was my reminder to stick with shops I know best, moving forward.
Daily special price brings back memories of what lunch cost pre Covid. walk in here with face mask covering your eyes you don t want to see the place and how clean the place is. Cleanliness is missing on their dictionary. Other than saving your hard earn cash to get the daily special there is not much to say about this place. Vegetarian options: Lots of chickpeas and potatoes for people who are scared of meat.
Had the miss fortune of ordering the jerk chicken, I got four bones with maybe one mouth full of chicken. Lesson learned never eat there again
This was amazing flavour , the doubles were soft, great sweetness with the dough not overbearing , highly recommend the beef and goat double if you are a meat eater like me :).
Not a good experience as a vegetarian by trying veggie doubles no flavour of tamrind just roti.
Great ad usual
Excellent food! Great selections!
Doubles are my fave are the veggie with some spice added. The staff were super sweet and the food was even better!
They can add more chicken portions but overall not bad.
stay away , this restaurant kitchen is so dirty
I have only ordered the Doubles and cant speak about any other item on the menu but the doubles here are my absolute favorite in all of Toronto. The chana filling is very tasty and the roti is slightly sweet and always fresh. In fact my mouth is watering just writing about them! Update: the food is super tasty but the attitude of some of the staff could definitely improve. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt, Ive visited multiple time before writing anything about the attitude (everyone has bad days) but it seems pretty consistent.
Message to Mr. RANDY. I have been a fan favourite for a few years on Uber Eats. Today on Jan 27, 2024 I have never eaten something more disgusting. The food did not deserve to leave the kitchen. Even ordering late as I did, I received left overs reheated and packaged. The fried chicken looked more like black dried up jerky. The shark & bake sandwhich had no sauce for the coleslaw, and shark bits looked microwaved. The Doubles are just mush and dont have any might or other ingredient your normally see. Either this business was sold to someone else or Mr. RANDY YOU NEED TO FIRE THE CHEF AND PREP STAFF responsible. I would debating writing this and even showing the pictures of the food. The food actually looks like vomit, absolutely not fit for human consumption - I would not feed a dog much less a starving refugee with your meal today. Mr. RANDY its time you get that house in order.
Shark & Bake is de ting
Always good man!!!
Food is amazing, served very quickly. Had Jerk chicken w rice and peas and the chicken was very well cooked and the doubles tastes just like a fresh trinidad doubles
Surprised by the bad reviews. Jerk Chicken is one of the best in the city. Great portions
A good place to grab a quick bite.
Listen, youre not here for the fancy decor, and youll get your food when they get to you - but its absolutely worth the wait. I come here for doubles every time Im in the city. So good! Vegetarian options: Veggie Doubles, eggplant, channa, plantain, etc.
Great lil spot for a quick lunch! The jerk chicken here was delicious, and the portions are huge. I got a medium and it was enough for lunch and leftovers for later. I d also recommend trying the Mango Carrot drink, super yummy!
Good doubles.
Been to Randy s plenty of times. Food has always been good. This experience wasn t great. Tuesday January 16. A hair in my food. Returned on Wednesday only to have issues getting a refund. Told to return Thursday to speak with Manager and get my refund. Came back today, Thursday January 18th, and according to them MY debit card is the issue when it comes to getting my money back, even though my debit card worked when I paid for 2 large chicken roti on Tuesday !!! Most likely won t be getting my money back despite not being able to finish my meal after finding a hair in my food!
Doubles are pretty good. Ordered oxtail combo. Oxtail and rice n peas had no flavor. Great customer service
Food was decent. i order on uber eats. I got veggie plate and plantain. plantain was okay, i wish it was cooked better, it was a bit too soft and mushy. got rice and peas, curry potato, eggplant and chana. i ordered it spicy but tbh wasn t spicy at all, and the food was really bland. i was expecting really flavourful caribbean food. the portion was really good but overall a bit disappointing
This has always been our go-to food place for Jerk chicken and roti!! There doubles are absolutely amazing!! and recently we just tried there fried bun (spinach and one with potato) and its delicious with the filling! This place wont ever disappoint you and its better if you go in store because they tend to give you more as I feel like its more for a walk in dining place!
Amazing food!
HORRIBLE. My husband and I went there for lunch and ordered the chicken curry and roti separately and they still wrapped it. The taste was blah nothing Caribbean about it. We also ordered the bake and salt fish which was pretty good. The young lady in the front was very rude. Parking: No where to park.
Ordered two soups an it smells like it s gone bad even left a tip
Naw man! Allyuh aint treating the people good. Allyuh aint making propa Roti, yuh robbing de people na. Some lil small ting yuh does make yuh know. And charging almost $20CAD. Allyuh Daiz make de worst Paratha. De worrrst Paratha!!! I tellin yuh.
Randy tried to rip me off by charging me for drinks I didnt order.
Very poor experience. Im from out of town, so I ordered 12 doubles deconstructed, so I could transport them home. When they were delivered, there was no bara. Leaving town, so I called and asked to have 24 bara ready for pickup since I was in a cab. Said Id be there in 15 min, got there 25 min later and they hadnt gotten them ready. Took another 15 min to get them, which cost me extra wait fee in cab. Very disorganized!
Love this little shop in my area. Convenient location...clean well maintained dining area ...and washroom as well. Open for business daily with long hours. Great food. Friendly staff. Not very expensive. Daily specials. Tried their Xmas cake. Its the Best. Since covid I cant afford their prices anymore! Doubles used to be 2 for $5. Now it $6 for one! Highway robbery for some deep fried white flour and chick peas. Their Jerk meals ridiculous. They have no idea how to make rice and peas. So wat they did was boil some kidney bean...burn sugar to brown rice ...u can taste the burnt sugar...awful...have no idea how to make cold slaw...some cabbage in mayonnaise... tasteless! $15 plus tax is the minimum price for one of these awful tasting jerk dishes! Their cassava pone used to be $3...now $7..like I cannot fathom why these cheap UNHEALTHY foods are disgustingly so expensive... would not refer anyone there!
I go here multiple times a week for their goat roti lunch special, great value, delicious, great portion! Can t go wrong
I feel sorry for the people who had bad experiences here. Ive never had a problem. The food has always been very good, fresh, and reasonably priced (This is Toronto, after all.) Some of the best Trini food Ive ever had, and my girlfriend is from Trinidad and she likes the food too so I think she knows what shes talking about. If youre expecting smiles when you come in, youre at the wrong type of restaurant. This isnt Swiss Chalet or Starbucks - its authentic Caribbean food. They dont care - get your delicious food, pay, and be on your way. Personally, Ive ever had an issue with their customer service anyway.
Only ordered 2 chicken doubles and had to wait over 30 minutes for my order. 5-6 people that ordered larger orders after me somehow got their food before me. Missed my class because of this too.
My benchmark food to compare Caribbean food place is Curry Goat. I ordered a curry goat at this place and took it home. It tasted ok or lets good but the issue was the meat, it wasnt goat meat it was Veal meat . So I paid extra for nothing and worst part is, I gave them some tips
Very enjoyable meal. We got the doubles, vegetable roti, chicken curry and the pumpkin. Very good.
Only go here if you want the real RUDE customer service you would find in Trinidad and just okay food. Boo you stink!
Just say the jerk Chicken is one of the best and the staffs are really kind .
The chicken curry dhal roti is excellent!
Maybe their meat offerings are better. Ordered a potato and channa roti and it was easily the worst roti Ive ever had. Lacking flavour, very dry. Ratio of ingredients is off. Service uninspiring.
Horrible service for sure from the bara - making old lady. She has no good customer service relations. Don t buy the doubles unless you can settle for about a teaspoon of channa in it and no-one even asked if we wanted condiments on it. If you comment on this or ask for more, they let you know that this extremely small serving of channa is a portion size. I mean, Really ! Too stingy! My daughter also bought a vegetarian roti but got only potato and channa in it .. no vegetables taste wise . Ok. The only good thing about this place is that the doubles was tasty. I m sticking to Drupati s from now on!
Food was cold (salt fish and bake, pholourie) asked for hot sauce, didn t taste or see any Paid $26 for this with a can of ginger ale, so pretty disappointed. Food
Solid tasting curry chicken roti just north of Yonge and Bloor.
Best west Indian food in the midtown area!
They makes the best doubles and amazing curry chicken roti!
Jerk poutine was amazing at SOS festival on Caribana, but it would be even better if they would use real Cheese curds like in Quebec
Friendly staff and great prices for how much food you get!!
Very disappointed in my experience with Randy s today. I ordered 4 doubles (slight pepper), 20 pholourie and 2 dal puris. I received 5 doubles (NO pepper and 6-8 pieces of channa in each), 15 pholourie and 2 dal puris that were clearly stale and frozen. Considering the price it was a huge let down. Also attempted to call the restaurant several times but no answer There are other West Indian restaurants in the GTA that are always consistent and worth your hard earned money and patronage.
The doubles were a little cold and bland. Not the same and as good as the ones at other roti places
Guys, be very careful with this company, because it hires temporary workers and owes salaries in the last few weeks.
Truly outstanding food! I cried tears of joy! It was just delicious. The service is lovely, warm, and kind. You d be lucky to eat from here!
I had a double from one of their mobile food trucks at the CNE - it was a great bite out with lots of flavour. These folks do it right.
Stopped to get some food at their CNE location food was horrible. I was served fries with chicken butt. Drumstick was undercooked.
The owner randy straight up lied to my face. I asked if this was same Randys that was located by eglinton and oakwood. He said yes, this guy was definitely lying. Be honest, you dont have to piggyback off another brand
Im on my knees begging the owners to please flavour your curry just a little more. Its impossible to order genuine guyanese food in the downtown core and I dont know what Ill do without you. That being said (and I say this with love) your curry tastes like water. The paratha is great, and the meat is super tender, but it tastes like somebody whispered the words curry powder in the room next to where it was cooking. It tastes like there was a garlic shortage. It tastes like the goat listened to Taylor Swift. Flavour aside, where is the spice?? I totally understand the default order being very mild, but why is it when i select your spiciest level, i recieve something no hotter than a Lays bbq chip? Why did you give me the option for spice and make me look forward to it, only to cast aside my choice? Youve left me hurt and still yearning for a good goat curry.
Food is absolutely tasteless. Has no Caribbean flavour.
My go to spot for doubles
Ordered pholourie and doubles and it tasted like it came out of the fridge from the night before. Stale, bland and ice cold. I used to get Randy s all the time it was better years ago I will never order from them again. It s sad because it s the only place downtown that sells doubles.
The veggie doubles are super delicious. Got 4 doubles for just $8.
Authentic taste and quality. Loved the doubles best in town.
Food was very bland. No flavour, no spice. Just super oily. Service was indifferent (dont really care about that, as long as they get my order right). It wasnt busy, at all. Restaurant was really dirty too. Im a 5 minute walk away and the food was cold when I got home. Read so many good reviews about the place. Very disappointed.
Made a ritual order waited more than expected and when I had questions about it, they were very rude. It was busy but a follow up would be nice.
Hahaha the doubles were soooo flat! Couldn t believe my eyes, it was funny. No material in it, no taste, no spice. Never again!
The doubles were good but the roti disappointing. It was under stuffed so the corners were just full bites of roti shel. It was also very mild considering I ordered a spicy roti.
Literally meh. I got chicken roti. The roti was homemade from scratch which was great, but overall it wasn t anything special. Food
Every time I ve been here it s always weird/rude service. This time I asked for my doubles medium, lady said the tamarind sauce is medium it s sweet. I asked for my jerk chicken meal to be medium no pepper was put on and didn t even ask if I wanted gravy. I asked for a side for plantain , charged me $7 and I m like if it s just a side that s a lot but then gave an actual meal box filled with plantain( not to complain about the amount but it seemed like I was being punked! Most places charge a few bucks for a few pieces. This was enough plantain for 8 people no joke) Not my first bad experience but definitely my last.
The corn soup is the best Ive ever had. The service is Indo trinidadian authentic. If you are into roti, this is one of the best in the city. Absolutely, no issue and great taste!!!!!
Very medicore food at best. Worst bone-less goat Ive had at any Caribbean restaurant in Toronto so far, Aloo-pie and doubles are mediocre and will do in an emergency I guess. Tried multiple times and still very bland. Highlight of the place is the very nice staff though
I ordered roti chicken, it was good and worth the money. Their service seems quick, I called 15 minutes before for pick up, when I reached the place my order is waiting for me
Hands down the most amazing place for Roti and Doubles!!
Bloody good jerk chicken
Ordered via Uber eats, sooo good! We had the boneless chicken roti, and doubles- both were so tasty! Will definitely order again :)
Chicken was good, rice was cold
Went here for the doubles are all the reviews. The chickpeas and sauce was delicious. The fried bread that it comes in could be better but overall pretty good!
Absolutely disgusting. I was told a lot about this place and decided to give it a try. Regret it now because I have food poisoning and wish I listened to the other reviewers who got food poisoning from eating here. I ordered veggie roti (Chana and potatoes), 2 doubles and plantains. I watched the lady make various food items without washing her hands or wearing gloves. Upto 90% of food is not made fresh or gourmet. Everything is sitting at room temperature and microwaved. The only thing I observed that was made fresh was plantains, which the lady mixed with days old plantain, and put in a box and gave it to me. I could immediately tell from taste which ones were fresh and which ones were stale. One of the fresh plantains still had a peel on it. This place is absolutely gross and they do such a sloppy job of preparing your food, stingy with portions and reheating old food items, and stale taste. I asked for hot sauce on the side and I was told after I paid that its extra. What kind of place charges extra for sauce that is supposed to come with your food? I was just put off by everything. I watched the lady drop a pre made fried chicken leg into the same oil as the plantain was cooked in. Repulsive! I realize now that the red flags were everywhere. Food items sitting at room temperature, improper food handling, cross contamination and unsanitary practices. Do not make the same mistakes I did. The price is not worth food poisoning. Plus there are waaaaay better rotis and doubles places waiting for your business that make food fresh, tasty and in a sanitary environment.
Flippin bug (weevil!?) cooked right into the roti!!! I loved this place, but there is no redemption from something like this.
Been eating here for awhile. It s a good roti. But the staff can be so rude! They forget to put hot sauce on all the time. Like today, I asked for hot sauce. Saw them making it with out hot sauce. So I asked for hot sauce on the side. The lady at counter muttered under her breath, 50 cents. Which I didn t hear, my colleague told me after. and no hot sauce was put in the bag! Done with how rude this place is. Never eating there again!
Not my cup of tea, Its hit or miss sometimes cold hot, good or off.
I ve ordered curry goat with tamarind sauce and had discovered course
Everything ordered was delicious - went here couple a times as it was close to where we stayed.
Randys roti bad review I only go to Randys roti when I am desperate for some Trini food, but this will be the last time. I ordered the goat roti special and an aloo pie. Not only was the wrong roti made the first time (chicken instead of goat), it wasnt filled up very much and the method of packing was rather sloppy. The roti itself (wrap) didnt have any taste to it, and seemed like it was only made out of flour and water, not much else if anything. I couldnt tell you what style of roti it was, definitely not buss up shut or dhal puri. The goat didnt taste like it was seared and the curry didnt seep in to the meat, leaving little flavour. Doesnt feel worth the cost, even at the lunch price. Because of the thickness of the roti and lack of stuffing, there was a lot of bites that were just roti and not much else. Ive had rotis that had such good flavour, it makes it worth powering through if its too spicy, and if its not spicy it is still delicious. I did not feel this way about the food here. As for the aloo pie, I dont know why when my Trini partner orders it they put Chana, tamarind sauce and some greens in it, but when I order the pie there is nothing done to it, just a plain potato and flour pie, they dont even cut it open. I said I didnt want hot sauce and to put it on the side so maybe they thought I didnt want ANYTHING spicy, but why no chick peas or other ingredients? There was clearly miscommunication but I had said do everything the same, but put hot sauce on the side and asked several times about the Chana and how the aloo pie is made. Talking to the staff was difficult, and being a short person, the takeout containers piled up make it so I cannot make eye contact easily with the staff while they prepare the food. The polhourie would be a nice treat, but the quantity you have to buy, and at that price doesnt make sense to me. I am always wishing there was a smaller portion option. We stopped getting the doubles, the price only makes sense when its on special and is not as good as the doubles outside of Piarco Airport, or what you used to get from Carribean Roti Palace, which is has sadly been closed for several years now. The coleslaw was lackluster; less than fresh cabbage with mayonnaise squirted on top. Thats it. I have been to Trinidad a few times and tasted the local food; this restaurant is no where near that authentic taste. My partner who is from Trinidad has been disappointed with the quality of their food our last few visits.
Decent
Do not Go to this place Slowest Staff, Worst service You ll just waste your time if you order from here
very delicious place to visit
Great roti and friendly service!
We tried Jerk chicken wrap at CNE Waited 15 minutes It was cold , not enough chicken in it. More of potato wrap. I will never go back to them .
Their salt fish and bake is sooo good
Great jerk chicken poutine.
Delicious double, it s a shame they feel to charge $10 for a single one at a festival. $3 in store.
Ordered delivery on doordash. Got only half of the quantity ordered...for the 7th time. I am never ordering from them again!!
Halal food advertised, when i asked the lady for halal certificate she had no answer there were other certificates displayed but halal certificate wasn there at all BEWARE...THEY DONT HAVE HALAL MEAT
Amazing goat roti and doubles. What truly makes it a winner is the roti prepared fresh in house.
The food was so amazing! The goat was seasoned perfectly and the roti was so soft and tasty. Made me feel like I was back in Jamaica. I also caught the lunch special, so the price was perfect!
I love the food here its absolutely delicious and they make the roti and double bread fresh... once theyre out theyre out this is the first restaurant I went to when I came back into the area
Service: Why are the serving staff not wearing gloves? When asked, the server said she had just washed her hands !!. Are they trained in health and safety practices ? Remember, they are located in Yorkville....
Wonderful people wonderful food!
Great place to come by in the Yorkville area, hard to beat the price that this restaurant offers. Cheap dinner plates and a good roti option special for lunch. Staff is also very friendly!
Those two ladies are a hard working moms, God bless them
The best jerk place in Yorkville. Authentic. Food
Paid 15 bucks for a roti and theres barely anything inside of it it s basically all roti
Decided to give them a try because I was in the area (and love doubles). The outside was too soggy and greasy. The filling was wet and didnt have enough channa. It was pretty bland as well. There was pepper sauce inside (they didnt ask how spicy we wanted it... so not ideal for children or adults who cant tolerate too much pepper sauce). They were pre-assembled and under a heat lamp I think so our take out order of 4 doubles didnt take long. Every other place Ive had doubles in and around the city has been better so I will stick to what works. Try at your own risk (of wasting time/money/a meal).
Tasty, generous portions. Ive sampled the boneless chicken Roti and the Jerk chicken dinner. Yummy to the max. You should go.
I came to the restaurant and I do not want to come back this restaurant again because of their service is very bad. So sorry if i impolitely when I say the cashier is very rude and fake . Its true . She finished the order who tip for her before me . I waited 30 minutes for my small order then I lated my work. I felt very bad when I really rush while she keep talking and laugh. She did not focus on her job . I wish this business can improve the service about this problem . I do not want this happen to another the unlucky people like me
Stopped by here on a Saturday evening. The two women working behind the counter were super nice! Doubles were freshly made and tasty. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Long wait time
Mixed experiences with this place so far (only pandemic times). The first two times, we were very impressed, and excited to eat through the rest of the menu. Definitely would recommend the rotis, shark and fish bake, doulories. Oxtail meat was dry when I had it. On the first two visits service was very efficient, but with subsequent visits, service was quite slow. On one occasion, a pick up order took double the time quoted.
Best Trini style roti
All about the taste. Best doubles I know, I could eat half a dozen. Rotis are top notch or if you want, change it up, bake and saltfish for something lighter. Randys always quality, hope you stay forever.
Order was not so fresh doubles were hard. Oxtail hard, should cook meat more to be fall off the bone..
Got a chicken Roti and a veggie roti and was surprised and aghast to find that they used paratha instead of dhalpouri. Beside that still wasn t impressed.
Randy s also owns a food truck DO NOT I REPEAT DOOOOO NOT BUY FOOD FROM THEM. Not only are they way over priced... but they also serve RAW food. Their chicken and fries was unacceptably under cooked...Please be aware!
Three strands of hair in my box as soon as I received my order. I ordered the pholouries and didn t even receive the full amount as well :/ disappointed in the service honestly
Just ordered one doubles and a boneless goat roti. I got a burnt chicken roti with unpeeled potatoes. I m sorry but potatoes need to be peeled. There s a big difference between chicken and goat. Terrible!!!!!
Damn good doubles all day! I m a little disappointed that they charged me $10 for 4 doubles when the sign said $7.99 but because they were so yummy I forgive them.
Had the roti, doubles, and aloo pies. Loved the aloo pies and the doubles but the roti was underwhelming compared to other places in the city. Great spot for doubles and aloo pies though!
I won t be calling on them again
Great food, pleasant staff
I had chicken roti and doubles. The doubles were delicious and reminded me of my trip to Trinidad and Tobago. The chicken roti was a bit of a let down for me. The roti was little bit raw and the chicken curry lacked a bit of flavour in my opinion. Prefer Caribbean Dutch Pot chicken roti over this one. The Poulories tasted like regular flour and were chewy. Wheres the ground peas at?? Only the doubles will get me to come back.
Ive eaten at Randys enough times to know what to expect, but still, every time I take the first bite out of my meal the taste is even better than I remember! The doubles are to die for.
Tried Randys for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised! The roti was a nice size for lunch and the contents (chicken, potato, chick peas) were plentiful and came with the perfect amount of gravy. Will definitely stop by for lunch again!
My go to place for doubles and Rotis! Best ive had!
The best in the city! Bake and Shark. Yummy!
Best rotis Ive had downtown so far. Wish theyd add more Bajan style food but Trini is always nice too. Gotta order doubles like they would in bim or Trinidad, extra pepper is still pretty cool. Load up the pepper for me next time :p
Just ordered 4 doubles. Very expensive for the portion size I received. The amount of channa in the doubles was very small if not I counted 12 to 15 chickpeas in average.
My go to spot for doubles! Cannot comment on the rest of the items on the menu but I love the doubles and have been back for them multiple times! The staff is efficient and they really seem to put lots of care in the food they serve!
Delicious doubles. Great price
Great rotis! Worth the trouble of finding parking around rush hours. Before 4pm and after 6pm is best time. Fresh made dough bread yummy fillings. Cant ask for more! Definitely recommend!
Had some good service, and the food was great. Definitely recommend visiting.
The best Caribbean food in all of GTA hands down! Staff is friendly and taste is always consistent. The older auntie makes the best food!
I have been looking for a roti shop in Toronto that has Roti that taste like home ( Barbados) for a while and the shrimp and beef Roti taste exactly like Bajan Roti for me! This is the place for the taste of Bajan Roti in my books!
Have the best rotis that I have tried! Do wish the curries were a bit spicier but still great
2 for $5 doubles! Honestly fills you up pretty quickly and tastes amazing! Also recommend their jerk chicken dinner. Their rub is on the dry side if you prefer it that way - and add the oxtail gravy to make it an 11/10
Great value. Considering their dt pricing theyre one of a few that give generous portions.
Real Trinidadian food, food tastes like food from Trinidad, its a must try place...
OMG!! The best doubles in Toronto hands down! Everything was right the bara, the channa, the Chutneys and the brown take out boxes. yes! yes! yes! It definitely felt like home The pholourie was amazing as well! I ve found my new favourite Caribbean spot!! The staff are friendly and helpful. Win/win I ll be back soon with my friends.
A fantastic no-frills lunch! Three of us shared 4 veggie doubles and 1 medium veggie roti and were all filled up. Would have liked the doubles to be slightly less sweet and a tad more spicy/savoury, but overall very tasty!
I LOVED the Boneless Goat Roti. A friend had the Bake & Shark sandwich, and we loved that each came with a creamy garlic coleslaw. Washed down with a Peardrax, it was a delightful lunch. The ladies who worked there were lovely, too!
There vegan options are not that great. Plus they serve shark which is incredibly immoral given that most shark spices are close to extinction.
Take it from a Caribbean person that regularly goes home etc. This place is AUTHENTIC!! The food is amazing ..and the service takes time, just like how we like it. Bring some friends to socialize
Doubles are good, Different from the other ones I have tried. Hott sauce is good. Jerk chicken; Im not sure of....rice needs help. But compare to most jerk chicken places. This one is worth trying.
Its alright, but a little bland. The codfish sandwich could have used more spice or at least some seasoning. Not sure if Ill be ordering from here again.
Great food. Don t go when is a rush. They running in Caribbean time :). Go when you got time
Have been going here for years. Unfortunately the quality has deteriorated quite significantly lately.
I am very dissatisfied with the quality, the Bara is too heavy, the Aloo pie has no taste at all and a small solo drink no bigger than a chubby is $3.50..that is robbery..
Very tasty, fresh food, generous portions; very good prices and perfect location; maybe the service could be a bit better, but maybe its me. Highly recommended for sure, Ive been there many times and will keep going. In downtown Toronto, its the best Roti place that I know about.
Jerk chicken was dry and bland. Rice and coleslaw were both unseasoned. The jerk chicken has an option for spicy, unfortunately the spices were nowhere to be found though the meal costs $14. Staff at the counter was very rude as well. Judging from the reviews, you can tell the owner just doesn t care. Definitely the WORST Caribbean restaurant in downtown.
Love this place - everything i have tried s far has been fantastic
Real good joint. Underappreciated imo. I usually go for the doubles. Get the 4 doubles special or the roti (even goat) special before 2:30pm any day.
Overall pretty great food at a good price at a very accessible location. My only gripe would be that the doubles were much doughier than I prefer.
Ordered fried chicken just now, chicken is black, looks old and appears to be spoilt. Selling this to a customer is so disrespectful!!! Do better!!!
Roti and doubles are awesome!
Was excited to try the doubles as I had heard the ones here were good (I make them at home frequently). Really disappointed, oily, rubbery, room temp dough and the chickpeas had zero texture.
Absolutely delicious chicken, potato & chickpea roti! First time here and went back in for a second one instantly because of how tasty it was! All their food looked nice and juicy, the bread was so fresh, place was clean and costumer service was great! Will be returning to try that amazing looking oxtail and curry goat soon! 5 star all the way, hot sauce was SO good.
I have used this company previously and the food, quantities and quality of service was excellent. However the past 2 times ( today, November 2, 2021, was the most recent) that I visited to order rotis I was very disappointed. The cost had increased, the portions had decreased and the service was surly, sloppy and unsanitary as the server was handling food with bare hands.
Relies on Uber-eats couriers for their business yet denies them access to their bathrooms. Where am I supposed to go to the bathroom if restaurants that are in business with the company I deliver for deny me access to their bathrooms? Disgraceful! Dont do business with Uber-eats if you think we dont deserve access to your bathrooms.
Amazing roti and doubles!
This place is awesome ...the food is good and they keep the authentic tastes of great Caribbean food. My favorite foods there are the doubles, the alloo pie, and the roti with boneless curry chicken. I also like the jerk chicken I dont love it because Ive had it three times now and the third time was my least favorite as it didnt taste the same as the first two times. I definitely will continue going here because the service is very fast and efficient and the servers are friendly and the food taste real good!
Not bad at all.
Love this place! Tastiest Channa doubles in the area, great price too! It s a take out joint though so be ready to eat them at home or a picnic outdoors.
Fresh home made yummiest food ever.
Every time Im in the area, I make a stop here. The doubles, bake and shark, aloo pies are amazing. Prices are very reasonable. The staff here are super friendly and helpful.
Doesnt get better than Randys Roti
