This is the same JERKSPOT from the entertainment district. The original Jamaican taste in the heart of TORONTO (Kensington market). "BETTER THAN YARD" BEST FOOD EVER. "YEH MAN NICE AND NUFF".
Food: it was incredible, exceptionally eventful. We recommend the oxtail meal. Service: not much to say about the service, but the lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. Also, you know the food is great when the service is four star not five star. Eventful none the less. Atmosphere: atmosphere was great but not much seating options inside. An uneventful ambiance, indeed. Overall, incredible food, friendly workers, and we would highly recommend. It is truly an eventful experience. Sincerely, The Eventful Uneventful Review Station
Very bad experience and very rude from the restaurant. I ordered food from an app called Too good to go. I got rice and chicken. The chicken was spoilt and the rice was way too old. These type of food(expired/rotten) should be thrown away but they sell that to customers. I had to purchase and the throw away the food completely. Be careful to avoid falling sick eating here.
The Jerk Spot they closed at 7 we got there about 630. Got oxtails, rice, peas and jerk chicken. The food was ok. The chicken was dry and the oxtails were cut to thin slices. Prices were affordable but I’ll rather gotten cabbage or mixed vegetables then coleslaw. Not a lot of oxtails and they were thinly cut. Customer service could’ve been more welcoming.
Yummmm. I had the ox tail with rice and peas. It was so good. Meat was tender, sauce nice and spicy. The rice was also cooked to perfection - fluffy and seasoned nicely too. Lovely owners.
Don’t order any of the poutine!! I ordered oxtail poutine and it was oxtail gravy served on chopped up doughy dumplings! There was barely any meat. This was very misleading to be called a poutine!!
So damn good. First place I ever tried jerk, in 2004 at the original location on Peter street. Thick and juciy. Unique and delicious flavour. Very friendly woman at the front. I have tried probably 20 other places since. Still the best. Pats was a tie for my favourite until they closed. So Jerk Spot is back to the number one spot.
One of the best ox tail dishes I have ever tried! I was pleasantly surprised- definitely coming back for more! I can’t wait to try the other dishes if they are as good as their oxtail. Deep flavour, sauce is slightly thick (perfect), ox tail is very very tender. I had a Jamaican Pattie but it’s from a box (Tastee) so I think I’m going to do the home cooked (restaurant cooked) dishes next time. The lady behind the cash was very sweet and very nice. She recommended for me to try the oxtail first (she was right) and then the jerk chicken (have to return for that!). Place is a hole in the wall kind of atmosphere but sometimes it’s these small places that do the best cooking and in this case, their oxtail was divine. In terms of atmosphere, they have a very limited space for eating, take out may be the better way especially if you go during the peak time. There’s a counter with a few bar stools looking out the window for people watching while you eat)
This place was absolutely amazing. Authentic Jamacian curry, patties, and rum cake. We enjoyed the customer service, being able to people watch and the fact that the establishment is small and focused on each individual customer. It was one of the best meals we had in Toronto while visiting.
Tiny place in Kensington Market. What it lacks in ambiance it makes up for in food and service. It is always my go to Roti place when I come to Toronto. The stewed beef roti is one of my faves. I always forget to take a pic tho. Just want to dig in!
DO NOT ORDER FROM TOO GOOD TO GO app unless you want food poisoning. You will waste your money purchasing rotten food scraps. It looks like they scooped what they gave me right out of the garbage. NO JOKE. Bare bones/chunks of fat. So gross. The fact that theyre allowed to continue doing business is shocking to me.
Ive been here many times over the years and went back this past Sunday. The red pea veggie soup, the rice and peas with veggies, the ackee and saltfish with provision they never fail, it always tastes good. Anytime I go to Kensington market and eat food I know Im gonna be satisfied.
I ordered, from here from the to good to go app, I call the store coz I was running 2 mins late and the lady that answered said ok. I got there, and I can see her packing the order, but she refused to open the door and give it to me. I had already paid online.
Foods alright but the customer service is 0. Food isn t good enough for dem typa treatment.
All I wanted was a spicy beef patty. However, it was really bland and wasnt spicy. On second inspection, it seems as if they arent making their own patties but rather reheating commercially available patties. This is most unfortunate. They pale in comparison to the patties available at Golden Patty just around the corner. Alas, this is not the place in Kensington to get patties.
The best oxtail ever!!!!
Avoid this place. $20 for a meal where the chicken smelled and tasted BOILED and DRY. No flavor whatsoever. Even the rice and peas was bland with a horrible sticky flavorless gravy. Ended up just throwing the whole thing in the garbage. AVOID!!!!!
The most under rated Jamaican spot in Toronto. The best jerk chicken and oxtail I ever had. The oxtail gravy on rice and peas is to die for. Fall off the bone meat so juicy and tender. With every meal, come a small side of coleslaw that pairs so well with the meat. Cant wait to come back and try more!!
Had a jerk chicken roti (mild). Nice heat. Fantastic flavour. Ill be back to try the oxtail.
I had the curried chicken Rotti. It was mediocre at best. Won t go back.
Best Jerk Chicken in Toronto! Been eating here for over 20 years and the quality is always the same. Highly Recommend.
The food was really good I finished my dish! Thank you very much and I recommend it to you
Food wasnt good Cashier was rude Food
First time trying jerk chicken and it did not disappoint. The chicken is fresh and juicy. I tried the jerk chicken leg sandwhich with fried plantains and my taste buds exploded. The lady at the counter was very sweet too. Definitely a good place to try for grubs.
Absolutely delighted with the food quality and portion size at this restaurant! I got the curry goat roti and was definitely satisfied.
The food was ok, expected a bit more oxtail but I guess it s expensive for them to get so they limit how much they give their customers.
I stopped by this spot on a whim for a quick bite. I ordered the oxtail roti, I ve had oxtail stew before from another establishment but it was my first time eating it in a roti. The stew itself was ok (lukewarm at best, salty but lacked flavour, found some bone pieces, tender meat but the potatoes was the highlight of this dish for me). The roti was not what I expected it was dry and hard, and powder(?) between layers that was unpleasant. Even though the roti was shared with another person we didn t finish it. For $20 I wished I was more satisfied with my meal.
food is alright but not fresh
Absolute garbage. I wouldnt serve this to a dog. This is supposed to be fried chicken, which was clearly OLD and nasty. And the other pic is supposed to be coleslaw which is watered down. Extremely overpriced. Someone get the health inspector in here immediately!!! Should be shut down. Im embarrassed for them.
We live far from downtown T.O but every time we get a chance to stop by and get jerk chicken at this place my family and I do, a few times we have driven downtown just to get the jerk chicken. We get the rice and jerk chicken breast we love it, the taste the portions and yes prices have gone up but with inflation nowadays its understandable. This is our favourite place and its been for almost 20 years and as long as the taste doesnt change well keep on stopping by to eat our favourite jerk chicken breast and rice and peas.
Jamaican Food. Eat-in, take-out, catering. The menu is overpriced, the quality of the food is below the average. If you have a choice try the midtown Jamaican Restaurants for better quality.
They have good brown stew chicken. She was kindly and friendly. Good customer service. I ll be back!
Randomly stopped by to The Jerk Spot to grab some quick meal. Was extremely surprised, the food was delicious! We ve got the chef s special, a very savory beef curry with rice and beans. Definitely recommend!
10/10 so good i got jerk chicken and oxtail, so flavourful and juicy. Definitely worth it. Very nice staff as well.
I pulled up outside and she told me that she sees people getting $100 tickets so its worth it to pay the $2.50 in the parking lot next door. She was patient with me as I never know what I want.. I usually want everything in a Caribbean restaurant so I have a good idea of whether they are good cooks or not. They are! I highly recommend them. Worth going to park safely in the lot! Seems tedious but its really not and the food is worth it. Parking: Park next door in parkade
Get lunch chef special 9.50 Stew beef. The meat is so tender and portion is generous.
My husband was in Kensington and surprised me with your goat roti. OH MY GOD did you have to use a cup of salt in each one. Totally disappointed. $25 down the drain. By the time we started to eat, The Jerk Spot was closed. TOTALLY DIAPOINTED WITH THE COOK.
Best place in town to have a bite to eat with the family has all the drinks and snacks your little ones love
Mould on my patty
1 of the best 2do it
Really amazing jerk chicken. The food is authentic, spicy and delish. The place can be a bit jam packed, but worth it.
Amazing food, and friendly service.
Amazing roti specials. Jerk chicken and stew beef are both some of the best roti Ive had in the city
I picked two « too good to go » bags from them. They were extremely generous with their portions. Everything was fresh and tasty! The stuff has been always so amazing and kind! I would definitely purchase from them again! Dietary restrictions: Their chickens are Halal
Small chicken order had a delicious jerk chicken drumstick, plentiful rice and peas with amazing gravy and coleslaw. Bottle of water included. Would come back if ever in Kensington market again!
I will not be going back here. The food was not good. A waste of money my group spent about $100 dollars here. We tried a variety of food goat runny and salty, chicken roti (spiked smelled like rancid cheese could not take one bite and did not want to), patties dry, plantain mushy and slimy, red pea soup oily and taste like beef birria sauce, fried dumpling and festival were stale and taste like they were old microwaved. The coleslaw was good but came in a small tiny container.25 ounces. I was not asked if I wanted white rice or rice and peas with the goat, however, the rice and peas were made good. Very disappointed and a waste of money. This is not food for Jamaicans, they must be catering to a different crowd.
Unfortunately we will not be coming back. The curry rotis we got were SOO dry, so much broken bones, and lacked flavour. So many better places in Toronto.. For their prices it should not taste this bad.
Great place to reconnect, clean, kid friendly and phenomenal food! Vegetarian options: Rare rich in nutrient vegetable served at reasonable price traditionally. Parking: Many parking spots available in all directions. Kid-friendliness: Wholesome environment, could even be considered pet friendly.
I got the jerk chicken leg sandwich which someone said was great and only $6.50, well the price went up a lot since that persons review I guess and it was maybe the most tasteless sandwich I ve ever had. Would never eat here again
was craving jerk, and this was around the corner where we were walking by Kensington market... it helps the craving. Its not as flavourful as other jerk weve had, but its still ok Small, quiet place, pricey in our opinion Food
Good customer service but the food at this location is horrible! You cant use cool runnings season on everything and have the nerve to call it well marinated! Where?
The perfect image of a jerk spot is live. The place is perfect set for hot oxtails and jerk chicken sandwiches. Even my son 1 year old loved the oxtail. The patty is nice and hot. Love them love their vibe and their food.
Decent!
Friendly Cashier. Was extremely disappointed with the food quality. Oxtail, rice n peas, coleslaw lacked flavor. Rice was undercooked . Paid for a large Oxtail and rice. Seemed like a medium to me. Save your money and avoid this place.
I love and appreciate good Jamaica food but this place is a hugh disappointment I ordered the curry chicken dinner It had lots of rice and a few pieces of chicken on top with just bones with no chicken on them The few pieces of chicken that I did have was extremely dry, unacceptable! .
Didnot like the roti at all. It was way too hot even for me, and I am an Indian. Didnt even get the receipt, I guess the system was not working
Love the goat curry roti. Thank you for a great lunch.
Sadly disappointed. I was craving ackee and saltfish and it did NOT taste like ackee and saltfish. The patty was also cold and the rice and Pease taste like the pot the cooked it in is old. The fried chicken was good.
I ordered chef special chicken stew yesterday, it was made of old leftover chicken legs with disgusting over salty titanic sauce to cover it. I dont recommend this place. Spent your money to those who deserve it.
I was on a food trip with friends and wasn t feeling well that day. I ordered oxtail stew and their food literally cured me. I tried my friends orders, I don t remember what they had but all I remember was I had a great time because of their food!
Best beef and red pea soup! Everything on the menu is proper.
Delicious soup every time
They have one of the best Jamaican patty in Toronto. The ladies behind the counter are so friendly and welcoming. Must checkout for other Jamaican hot foods.
Since moving to Toronto last year Ive tried lots of different jerk places, this one has my heart. Down to the spices, the sauce, the chicken, the people serving you this divinity in a box; look no further if you want a beautiful spot to feast on some gourmet jerk chicken. I dont even know why I bother buying from anybody else. Please keep doing what you have been doing for the last 15 years and never change a thing. With love <3
Was so sick from this place, not sure if it was the oxtail or the peanut punch. But one of them made me throw up for a while 24 hours ,this was a week ago
The young black lady that works here is really rude and disrespectful. Saw her constantly on her phone and leaving store unattended and then she comes back and acts like nothing was ever wrong. The food is good and the owner seems like a good guy, the other staff here seem nice and friendly too. Their Jerk Chicken has a nice spice and kick to it unlike some of the restaurants Ive tried. Definitely a worthy experience just maybe needs that staff to be retrained as shes really not interested in serving customers but busy on her phone or peeping at something.
Compared to other places its priced on the higher side. The Salt Fish & Ackee were okay, the Peas & Rice passable. The Plantains were the worst Ive ever had. They were not sweet, extremely hard & inedible. One piece was so hard you couldnt even bite through it. Overall the dinner did not taste fresh. The saving grace was their service was nice, the coleslaw was tasty & my son said the Jerk Chicken Breast Sandwich was good even if it had a couple of bones in it & wasnt spicy like he asked for. For us this place is a hard pass.
love their roti!! this place is a must-try when you re downtown
Delicious
The best beef Pattie s in Kensington! The new cashier Sofia was so polite and quick with my orders, excellent service!
BBQ chicken is good
Presentation terrible, chicken burnt, extra burnt chicken skin beneath a nasty looking piece of badly charcoal burnt mushychicken.,lots of sauce. Taste awful . This does not deserve a star rating. I woud not feed this to a dog.
Delicious!
Had their lunch special jerk chicken with rice and peas. The rice was tasty and the coleslaw. The portion was super small. And the chicken. OMG CHICKEN WAS HORRIBLE. IT WAS LIKE THEY GAVE 3 DAY OLD CHICKEN. NEVER AGAIN.
Great food and great people. Bought a jerk chicken dinner large after the store across from them veggie delight was nothing but rude. Came to this store and the staff was actually friendly, kind and didnt act like they have some superiority complex. Will return, thank you for taking care of our group!
Woman is very rude
Great food at a great price! The Jerk chicken and rice was mental!
Great Jamaican patties here
Unfortunately I have to give only 2-stars here for the food. I had the goat roti and came across two bone fragments and about four pieces of heavily cartilaginous pieces that turn me off from returning here for this particular dish.
You cant serve this to people or sign up to Too Good to Go and sell it end of day. This is a shame. No stars Had jerk chicken special. Read also several reviews posted earlier and its exactly that. Small portions, pureed coleslaw (more like soup) in small container, chicken piece was dry and charred on top and definitely not made that day. I love Jamaican food and you get better quality going to little Jamaica along Eglinton. Vegetarian options: Ask the staff for availability that day Dietary restrictions: Ask the staff Parking: Street Kid-friendliness: Its a take out counter. You can take children inside the store. Wheelchair accessibility: No. A shop front
The oxtail, jerk chicken and ackee and salt fish were DELICIOUS!!! My new fave Jamaican spot in Toronto! 10/10
Their roti is amazing !!
Love this spot. Amazing jerk chicken big portions, also the roti is great aswell. Really nice owners aswell
Got the small portion of jerk chicken. The portion is huge. Three pieces and alot of rice and colesaw for 8 bucks is solid anywhere.
Food was amazing i got the oxtail. The guy at the front was super cool even though its stressfull times. The lady working the counter was really nice and friendly. Would go back again for sure. The spot in my area isnt around anymore. So youll see me again.
Very tasty
The goat roti was really well done and the taste explosion was awesome, highly recommended
Yummy Great cupcakes too.
Wow the Patties are the greatest in Toronto,I ve been going to this location for years. I live at Jarvis and Carlton but love the walk to get my favourite treats at this location. From Coconut cake to Coconut buns to pone currants roll pineapple cake I can go on. I m grateful I can find Caribbean deserts and the biggest assortment of patties in Toronto, the staff can be A little more courteous. Especially with COVID they don t monitor the amount of people in the store. But I ve never been disrespected at this location I m A gay man of colour thank you for all the delicious treats you serve. I applaud your Team God Bless.
MODNZ
Some dope red bean soup.
The Ackee and Saltfish are my go too here. Always tasty. They even sell me Ackee cans so I can make my own Ackee and Saltfish at home.
Can speak to the hot table food here but I can speak to the delicious beef patties they sell. Just the way I like them, soft with a flakey exterior. Melts in your mouth. Filling is good and there s enough to keep you happy. Get them when ever I m in the area.
Ive had their bbq chicken before and it was fine, but today, unfortunatly was rough. Meat cooked with no gravy and sauce was just placed on top. I had great service, it was friendly, just disappointed i wont be finishing the take out.
first experience wasnt the greatest dont try the homemade peanut punch it was horrible and everything over priced and they forgot half my order sadly and I complained So I went back and they made up for it coslaw is good and oxtail was great thank you
Had the chicken roti and it was fantastic. Was recently in a islands restaurant in Montreal that had great reviews however this place would choke their chicken right out....hands down. Seriously the crust is light and flavourful as compared to others that are like eating bread....cant wait to go back!
Jerk chicken roti was delish! Loved it.
BEST JERK CHICKEN IN the city !!
ordered after reading the reviews and it was arguably some of the best Caribbean food Ive had in Canada! I had the jerk chicken sandwich and its amazing. Quality is great I 100% recommend trying
SERVICE - very friendly and polite. I ordered my food and within minutes it was ready. Super quick and efficient. FOOD - I stopped by for some curry goat roti and it was amazing! They give really good portions for what youre paying, especially for their roti special of the day! There was barely any goat fat and it wasnt filled with potato. There were potatoes but there was a lot more meat! The meat was very flavorful, tender, and well seasoned. The curry was thick with the goat meat and wasnt very oily. The roti itself had a light tinge of sweetness, wasnt oily or floury, and had a nice soft chewy texture to it. I believe this was homemade because Ive never had roti like this! If you want it spicy, its extra but this spice was the kind that stuck to your tongue and had a good kick to it! It was so good and flavorful! I highly recommend this place! Ive had their patties in the past and they were good too. AUTHENTIC FLAVORS. Thank you!!
After two year not coming back from the time they let me down with the jerk chicken. Today , I was so hungry and order their oxtail with rice. Oh my God, it was so good. The smell is so nice , and the hot sauce is fantastic. ! Its my new favorite spot now...
I tried the jerk chicken sandwich and was amazing!! I recommend to ask for leg it s tastier and also some sweet fried plantain as an extra makes the difference!!!
Delicious!! A friend of mine spoke highly of this place for their jerk chicken, and it was amazing! We each ordered a half chicken with rice, and coleslaw. My friend suggested to mix their coleslaw into the whole rice/chicken meal wow!! Welcome to flavourtown!! My only regret is ordering the mild, next time I go I m definitely going to try the spicy. If you like jerk chicken, this is a great place to try! (Forgot to take a photo)
Oxtail bomb fall off the bone pricey is the only thing.
Jerk Chicken Leg is probably one of the best in town!
Had my first meal of 2020 here, and it was fantastic. Very lovely staff!
The restaurant is located at the beginning of Kensington market, which is a great location. We tried three items from the menu: the ox tale, saltfish and the jerk chicken. The jerk chicken was average, the saltfish was ok, and the ox tale was good. I will go back again and try items on the menu.
The jerk chicken was amazing.
The place was absolutely disgusting in the waiting area, left over foods and garage was the principle decor... I ordered a chicken roti and VEGAN RED SPIT PEA SOUP they posted on the menue board. The counter person who was serving the food and working the cash had no gloves on or hair net. She over charged me for the meal when she was imputing it into the cash register. I mentioned it to her when I noticed the over price and she ignored me. After getting my food I order she gave me 2$ on the 5$ over charge. When I got home, the vegan soup was the red bean and beef soup that made me literally nauseous!! Chicken roti was salty and not fresh!! Completely gross... Worst food experience in Toronto... This place is just not somewhere you would want to visit looking for Caribbean food. Complete garbage food and unethical staff!!!
Not bad JA food. Busy spot. Parking at a premium
Good spot,reasonable price
The customer service is 2 star and food is 2.5 star. Reading all the reviews I still went there hoping they have changed. I ordered curry chicken large thing I will get a free pop but unfortunately it doesnt come with it as it shows. And also the portion of the large is too less for the container. Im going back to rasta pasta for some bbq jerk chicken
Great food, fast and friendly service unlike Pats homestyle and Jerk King where you feel rushed and discriminated against. These guys here do it right.
Ive been going to this restaurant since they opened on adelaide, then location on peter st. and the move up to Baldwin. After clubbing or just driving downtown with the boys specifically for theyre jerk pork on a friday night many times lol, Ive even taken the train down just for that flavour! I love Jerk Sot eternally! Hope to be back soon!!
Ecellent food
Thr jerk chicken is delicious and the large size portion can easily feed 2 people. Not the cheapest place around but its worth the money
Great food. Nice lady. Delicious
Not good, as a west Indian place.
Amazing
After rude staff and lack of food at Rasta Pasta I stopped by the Jerk Spot for some Oxtail and it was bless. Great portion, tasty and affordable. I havent been in years, but after tonight, I will be back soon!
Very authentic
I cant resist this spot! Every time Im back in Toronto this is a must for me Im willing to hall in snow storms for this food!
Had their roti special for lunch and it was good. Not the best in the city but for sure worth the buck. This one was the curry chicken but they serve a lot of Jamaican dishes as well that I wanna try because they looked really good aswell
Great food, great ambience - me and my mans come to have the ting every Saturday
Authentic affordable food huge big ups to the daily specials the food is amazing and a must try
Great daily specials which rotates and is different everyday. Curry goat and oxtail are highly recommended
This food is the real deal, get them to spice it up to make it more authentic though. My favorite restaurant.
Best coleslaw!
Roti tasted dry, powdery and reminiscent of sadness and giving up. If I had to chose between eating here and dying of malnutrition it would be a toss up
Foods salty Pattys have hair in them foods cold rasta pasta jasmine rice n bbq chicken making manz throw up iuno whats up nowadays but it aint stopping
I got the curry chicken roti. The roti was dry and stale (and I bought it at 11:30am, right when they opened). The curry was tasteless, except for salt. It was basically chicken and potatoes boiled in salt with tumeric for color. I also wish they did a better job removing bones, I had a piece of bone in almost every bite. I threw out half.
Fast service good food
Got the jerk chicken leg roti. Huge portion and very yummy!
I was very pleased with the food and staff here.
Food was good, just took a while to be served
Came here with the girl for the first time the other day. We were visiting Toronto so we wanted to try something authentic. We were told by a friend to come here and try the jerk chicken breast, and omg Ive never tasted something so good and tender in my entire life! It was a bit spicy, and the larger seemed to have the same amount of chicken, just more rice compared to the small (I could be wrong) but lets just touch base on the fact that this chicken was so slow cooked to perfection that the bones in it werent even bone anymore, you could crush and stab into it with your plastic fork, and eating bone is very good for you. You didnt even need to chew this chicken is was so tender and juicy! Thats jerk chicken for ya! The restaurant had a rasta vibe which was nice, but did seem a bit dated. I would still go back hands down. If youve never tried and are visiting Toronto, give them a try! Prices werent to high either.
Got half pound of jerk chicken leg and a festival (the fried bread). Flavor was excellent (richly seasoned), chicken was perfectly tender, there was a good amount of sauce. Disappointed that it was mild: I really wish it had some spicy kick to it. Everything else was perfect, definitely recommend even if you like your food spicy.
Staff was extremely friendly! I had a jerk chicken wrap and it tasted delicious. Would definitely come back.
Worst experience I ve ever had at a Caribbean Restaurant. The BBQ chicken tasted terrible and to make it worst. Like way WORST! They gave me moldy hot sauce. MODLY hot sauce. You know how long it takes hot sauce to get old. A long time. I will never be coming back here.
Wife and I were drawn in by the very good price advertised for the daily specials. The Roti Jerk Chicken was very good, reasonably spicy with a plentiful amount of chicken inside; GREAT! The curry chicken was just OK, a bit bland flavor wise, but still decent for the money. Worth the visit.
Great value for money
Nice little spot to pick a great tasting lunch and head off home for the afternoon.
Food is one thing and customer service is another. There s a lovely lady at the register who serves customers with a smile and is very welcoming, with some rather cute glasses lol. But another lady who seems to be the manager or senior staff there definitely disgusted me. I am not sure if she s having an off day but she did not serve with a welcoming attitude. And as a customer the fact that I was able to see that she wasn t treating her coworker with respect really disgusted me. Shoving her with an elbow to turn on music, and telling her to move out of the way made me feel bad for this lady If it wasn t for the lovely service I received on first entrance I would ve given them a 1 star since there s no 0
a spot i often walk pass and never tried out, turns out it s a very nice jerk joint that is friendly and very tasty. juicy, smokey, flavourful, and extremely tender (though a little bit dry) that it fell right off the bones, and the rice and beans is also spiced to the right amount. the lady was at the back most of the time and didn t responded when some other customers walked in, i was a bit concerned but overall the service is decent
Good! Better than the other Caribbean place near by. Get the regular size unless youre super hungry.
Over priced drinks and terrible customer service. If you ask for any customizations they ignore it and just give you what ever. there chicken looks like it went threw a shredder
Most succulent chicken, hot and fresh. The guy is in business for 25 years and it shows i would recommend this small place for great testing jerk chicken.
Best jerk chicken and cole slaw combination Ive ever tasted. Ive gone there far to many times, nearly every week for a decade... And still the management doesnt recognize me... But I dont care.
Best jerk Ive had so far. I got the lunch special which was a jerk pork roti with a free drink, all for under $7 total. Lady was very friendly as well. Grungy homey feel to the place, feels legit
the jerk chicken breast combo with rice, beans, and coleslaw is the stuff dreams are made of. their jerk sauce is out of control. been to this spot multiple times and ive always had very pleasant interactions with staff. very good pricing. the chicken can be a lil dry at times, but that sauce THOUGH? worth it.
Great Jerk, very filling and good heat. Friendly place.
I really enjoyed eating here! I got the jerk chicken roti and it was big enough to share and was perfectly spiced.
Perfect
This is great Jamaican restaurant which has been around in the GTA for over 25 years. I tried the curried chicken and it was quite palatable but the curry jerk chicken was a definite big hit. I love the fact the restaurant have apace fkr dining indoor with family/friends and the server Simone was extremely pleasant and graceful. I like the Caribbean mellow music that resonated the atmosphere and the fact that this was one of the few restaurants within the Kensington Market that open up to 10 p.m. Anytime you need a quick bite late at night you can head on over to the Jerk spot for a fulfilling meal with friendly customer service and humble servers.
The meal is tasty!
I ordered the Jerk Chicken Leg Sandwich and it was one of the best I have ever had!
Pork was weak. Nothing like Mr jerk at Keele and Lawrence. Portion sizes were small for the price I had to paid. Probably wouldnt go there again.
Delicious food, reasonable price. I ordered the jerk chicken roti
Best ierk u can get in the city!
Patties were cold, waited 15 minutes to have them heated. Food was not fresh and was mediocre at best.
Hot sauce has a taste similar to a bland tomato sauce with spices in it. Additionally, we waited over 10 minutes for three patties, that were presumably precooked and in a heating oven. Would not go back.
Very authentic and tasty cuisine from the Caribbean. Jerk chicken, ox tail, and, of course, beef patties, are just a few of the menu items. The ginger beer, especially, has the kind of kick that will immediately transport you back to the islands! This isn t a fancy place, but the staff are kind and (relatively) quick. Parking is available nearby, but very limited on the street. This place is a part of Kensington Market and a wonderful spot to grab a meal.
Worst food ever
Great food !
Good food
Very friendly, good food, fair price
Food was expensive and terrible. Worst Jamaican food I ever tasted. Both my friend and I ended up throwing most of it away in the bin and walked further inside Kensington market to find something else to eat. The staff was also very robotic and unhelpful. I asked to have 2 meats (half and half) and Ill pay for the most expensive meat option. The server said they cant do that and I have to pay for 2 separate meals.
The roti was OK. Kinda grainy.
So far so good
The food was definitely not fresh. This food is for people who dont know any better when it comes to west Indian food. I tried the soup for the first time and it was definitely not made that day. Not one dumpling in it, lots of browning and brown sugar. Horrible. I love my soup so you I know you cant give people garbage like that. I gave them another chance with bbq chicken rice and peas. Some form of gravy was plastered on and it to the point that I couldnt even taste the rice properly but I know that rice was old. That whole meal was old. When asking for information on things the person taking the order didnt really know much and I was just waiting for them to say we nuh have dat. 50¢ for a pepper sauce but dont forget the tax so 55¢. I definitely will not be going back here and I feel so bad because I want to support but it would be irresponsible of me to tell people to go there. They really need to do better than what their giving people!!!!
The jerk chicken roti I had was extremely flavorful. I wasnt sure what to expect but it was very tasty. It had a perfectly seasoned sauce
Ive only tried the 5.99 jerk chicken roti and curry chicken roti but both were unbelievable for the price. Super filling, delicious sauce and moist chicken. Perfect amount of spice. Comparable or better than 13 dollar rotis elsewhere.
Food is unreal. Best oxtail Ive ever had. The festival is also
Filling and tasty
Went there yesterday for the first time while visiting chinatown, they have a huge menu soy partner n I had higher expectations. I got oxtail with rice and peas, reasonable price and oxtail was cery tender but while eating I noticed there was a lot of browning sauce on the oxtail and it tasted old like it was made nights before. The rice on the other hand was too seasoned as in there was a lot of seasoning to mask something (maybe its oldness) . My partner order coco bread with curry goat within his sandwich was more goat fat than goat meat.. we ordered our food at about 5pm it was ready at 505pm . Lol well last night i experienced all the symptons of food poisoning so no, I wont recommend them ever!! Their food handling and entire restaurant was filthy. I gave them a 2 star because they patty was ohkay I would have given them no stars..
trash
A nice little spot with very good food . I strongly recommend trying this spot .
Pleasant experience the first time but the second time wasnt really all tht great.
Loved this place, I can eat a curry goat roti anywhere, but this one was really good.
Great customer service. The oxtail and jerk chicken were delicious and good price.
Food looked like it was warmed because parts of the oxtail was cold and it was drenched in oil. Very dissatisfied with this service because you expect to have fresh food not WARMED food.
Delicious. Tried two different types of dishes. Jerk Pork and Curried Goat. Both excellent. Generous portions. Lovely lady behind the counter.
I ordered the small jerk chicken with rice. Both the rice and chicken were not fresh and dry. It cost approx 11 dollars. When the food was ready I asked the lady for hot sauce she said it will be 50 cents I said sure just charge me again on my credit or debit card. She said sorry I cant use the machine for less than 5 dollars. No where in the store does it state that, I left the store with no hot sauce :(.
