Had the fried chicken and fish and chips. Chicken was juicy tasty and full of flavor, coleslaw was okay fish and chips tasty
Like many others have stated, the service wasn’t the best. The employee who took my order just seemed like he didn’t want to be there so it was a bit awkward. The food was okay- I got the hot chicken sandwich with a side of their fries. The fries were delicious! The chicken itself was okay- good flavour but full of breading. Also the bread definitely didn’t stand a chance and disintegrated as you ate it.
I really wish I checked the reviews before trying. I was happy with how it looked initially. The chicken looked massive. In hindsight, it was dripping mad oil when taken out of the fryer. The person who cooked it barely let it rest on the rack to let oil drip out. On the rack for 1 second literally. The breading is out of control. Breading accounts for nearly 50% of the size. This made it way greasier than one would expect. If you've been having issues with bowel movements, the amount of grease will get your intestines moving. Fries were decent though. I should have just gone to Dave's Hot Chicken as originally planned.
Our eyes were bigger than our bellies. We ordered the 10 piece bucket and two portions of cajun fries! The batter on the chicken was not to our liking and we found cajun fries to be very salty. We ended up leaving most of the food.
Long wait. Came here on Tuesday evening to get dinner to go but was not expecting such a long wait. I ordered around 7 pm and was told my order would be ready within 20 minutes. I ended up waiting over 60 minutes for my food to be ready which is insane for fried chicken. I understand if there were a lot of orders but don't accept them if you can't output those orders on time. There were 4 orders before mine and everyone was also waiting an unreasonable amount of time as well. They were understandably upset. Some people even canceled their orders due to the ridiculous wait and yet my order still took over an hr to prepare. I waited so long that I had time to order a tempura meal next door and finish all my food and still wait. Based on the reviews here, this doesn't seem like a regular occurrence. I'm not sure what happened. Two staff members were working that night; not sure if there was a staffing issue. I wasn't given an explanation or even a token of appreciation for the delay. It's a shame because the chicken was fairly good and juicy and the sauces were tasty but not worth an hr wait.
Their fried chicken sandwiches are so good. Highly recommend ordering shishito peppers as a side - they're not too spicy. They've also got a tasty mushroom sandwich option.
This is actually the third time that I order from this store and this store definitely deserves more attention. I am not really a big fan of fried chicken because the ones that I have ever had (Popeyes, Church Chicken, etc… you name it) are not juicy at all… …But this store, they NAIL IT. Their boneless chicken is always super duper juicy, combining with the hot sauce and the crispy rosemary they make such a perfect combo. Their Shishito Pepper is also a pretty good side that you can get to balance out with the fried chicken (it is not spicy at all). Even my friend who likes fried chicken approves that this place is his favourite from now on. Last but not least, their packaging design is super adorable and cute. 🐔
This is my go-to spot whenever I'm at Chef's Assembly. Pricey, as are all the restaurants in this food court, but I think it's worth it for downtown fare. Paid just under 15 bucks for a chicken burger that was slathered with coleslaw. I'm not big on cabbage and usually order it without the slaw, but this time around I forgot to, so I scraped it off. The coleslaw remnants gave the sandwich a nice little zing though, so if you're not picky like I am, have it with the cabbage because I'm sure it'll delight. The chicken burger itself is unlike any that I've had in the city. It's a touch overcooked, and it seems like that's the intention because it doesn't taste bad at all. It's like a surrealist painting for the taste buds, not meant to be done in the typical style. I'm guessing they use the same good cut of meat that other chicken places do because it was succulent and exploding with juices despite the crispy exterior. Scarfed it down in no time flat and felt very satisfied afterward.
The fried chicken pieces were great! They are extremely large pieces! Food
Had their 10 piece chicken. Theyre huge! All dark meat which was great. V. taste. Seemed like a great deal to me.
Fried chicken sandwich was pretty good
Half of the fried chicken was batter. Too much batter! No wonder the chicken is grateful.
Amazing chicken. Worker was indifferent to me.
Dietary restrictions: Love this place Food
Terrible service and attitude
Food is amazing for the price (considering BOGO Wednesdays). Service is genuinely awful - staff mostly ignore you and move very slow. Often it can take 20 minutes from placing an order to sitting down to eat.
Stopped here on the way to the opera for dinner. It was Wednesday so they had a two-for-one deal running so we had two of the hot chicken sandwiches. There was a lot of chicken in the sandwiches and the coating was VERY crunchy. Service was quick and friendly. The chicken was almost undercooked, but I guess it was also exactly cooked. The hot sandwich was very spicy with the hot relish.
Some of the best fired chicken I have ever had.
OMG! Love at first bite! I had the Big Bird sandwich. Very messy but so delicious
Honestly top ten fried chicken in the city imho. The sides are good but maybe they could serve larger fries
Got the original chicken sandwich. Coleslaw was overflowing, decent flavour and warm. Chicken was slightly too crispy but pretty juicy. The staff attitude also felt slightly dismissive and not welcoming.
Simply the Best Fried chicken. The butter milk batter was the crispiest Ive ever had. The chicken was juicy and tender! Keep up the good work
Overall ok, not a healthy option, you can tell from oil color and smell in their fryers, but who is looking for healthy when eating fried chicken?
The BEST fried chicken Ive ever had in my life
Chicken sandwich combo with tiny piece of gristly thigh that I stopped eating because felt undercooked. Portion size didn t look at all close to other pictures on here. Twenty minutes to get and Twenty bucks won t be back.
Holy moly, this is the new spot for fried chicken in the city! while everything was on point, the stand out of the meal was the hot chicken sandwich, the spicy pickled relish pushed the envelope of heat to the perfect point of pain and pleasure. Come down and get messy with the fantastic staff and amazing food!
Got the 10pc, it was really great! Boneless, garnished w rosemary. Buttermilk and hot sauces are good
Delicious! Had the hot chicken and the hot shrimp sandos. Crunchy, juicy, perfection. (Oh and yes it was spicy for those of you who like spice and are usually disappointed )
Fantastic fried chicken. I remember having his chicken at La Banane and being blown away. None of the quality, flavour, or experience has changed.
Chicken was more fried breading than chicken, flabby skin under the crust, needed salt. Horrible flavourless coleslaw, limp flavourless onion rings and barely passable kale salad.
Delicious! Ordered the classic sandwich, fries and a kale Caesar salad and everything was amazing.
Maybe I just got a bad batch but its all batter (a lot) and fatty chicken skin and then chicken which wasnt good. Inspired me to take a break from fried foods and eat some more veggies.
Been having issues with UberEats app but Grateful chicken s customer service is top notch. They re quick to resolve any issues and the fried chicken is hands down the best in city! Highly recommend. Thank you Brandon!
Awesome chicken! I got the 3pc box. I like their take on fried chicken. Its the kind that has really crispy batter which is great with the given dipping sauces. The chicken itself was also well marinated and deboned.
Food was fantastic and a great location! The only downside was the wait, it was at lunch time so they were a little busy. Either way, great sandwich!! :)
I got a classic sandwich and fries a couple weeks ago and it was ok but I have to say, the staff looks miserable and overworked. It took over 25 minutes to get my order (which I think is a bit ridiculous for a fried chicken sandwich) but I can t even blame the staff because they were running around doing their best. This place really needs to hire more staff or treat their employees better because this was sad to watch.
If a new fried chicken place pops up, Ill usually give it a try without reading any reviews. First up was the chicken sandwich and the first bite of chicken tasted a bit overdone; if they cooked it for 10 seconds longer, Id call it burnt instead of overdone. I dont think it was old oil, which can sometimes impart a burnt flavour onto fried foods if it isnt changed often enough, but simply a matter of frying just a bit too long. Once I got through the breading, the chicken itself was tasty, remained juicy and the breast was of a decent size, but the sandwich as a whole was just meh. Next was the Bucket OBucket and that was underwhelming. Paying $20 for 3 pieces, I was expecting something more, but what I got was definitely not worth $6.67 per piece. I was trying to decide whether this warranted 3 or 4 stars, but the priciness sealed it for me and I went with 3 stars. Above average chicken, but they either need to drop their prices or do something truly special with the product to justify the premium.
Visiting from Chicago. This fried chicken stand is AWESOME! I got the classic chicken sandwich with Cajun fries. Love the Franks Red Hot and Ranch combo on the sandwich. Grateful Chicken would crush in Chicago.
Its a nice hall to hang out with friends and try different foods. However, I tried the food from grateful chicken and I thought, it wasnt worth the hype. Its pricey for a little piece of chicken on a bun slapped with some bland coleslaw. One of the employees working had a rash on her hand and wasnt wearing any gloves while handling the food. But I asked her if she could wear gloves while handling my food. The way this place was so over hyped had me wanting to try a few items. Only to be disappointed in the flavors. There is nothing worst, then spending your hamoney for food that isnt even mediocre.
Ordered the hot chicken sandwich combo. The chicken was mostly all batter with a small piece of meat inside and the batter was dark so oil probably needs to be changed. By the time I started eating it, the bread was already falling apart because of the oil. The best part was the Kale salad. Definitely not coming back. Waste of time and money. Better off getting a chicken sandwich at KFC.
This is the chef s hall on Richmond to be clear. So I m not one to leave reviews, I love food I never care about cost because I believe if the food is good the creator can charge what the feel they are worth. But I just had whet I thought was going to be great, the chicken batter was amazing crunchy/crispy, chicken was cooked, not great but nothing to worry about cooked enough to eat. The coleslaw on the other hand has no flavour. The chicken I feel proportional to the bun is magic but the chicken was very messy, I got less serviettes than needed to enjoy my meal. I see the potential for this food to be amazing. This is why I stopped him but I don t feel it there yet and I just wanted to leave my opinion. Thank you.
Avoid, worst fried chicken sandwich for $14 Extremely dry like its been fried 3 times, its mostly batter that was really hard to chew since its been refried, barely any real chicken let alone taste of it. Youre essentially just eating sauce and coleslaw on a bun with fried bits
One of the worst chicken sandwiches Ive ever had the displeasure of eating. I only finished it because I spent 20$ + tax on this rip off.
Salty chicken and salty fries....this is not it. But the burger looks nice.
Guys, really good chicken sandwich... the only comment I have is the onions rings portion is too small...
The popcorn chicken tasted good but was $20 for 4 puny pieces and fries. Seriously not worth it, would not recommend due to the tiny portion size
Terrible. The popcorn chicken came with like 5 pieces lmao. And like two of those weren t even chicken just fried batter. It s a rip off.
Chicken was burnt and lacked flavor. Fries were good.
Sandwich and fries were very good. Chicken was crispy, cooked well, good bun, crispy and super tasty fries (and a huge portion too). Only thing I can recommend is to have a bigger sandwich (bigger pieces of chicken)
I ordered a chicken sandwich combo. I chose kale Caeser as the side. It includes a drink too and they have bottled Coke, Perrier, etc. The sandwich had a lot of sauce so it was kind of messy to eat but it was delicious. The salad was good.
Chicken is overfried (crust is dark and bitter). Also next to no flavor...
Chicken was overcooked and flavorless. Parts was burnt. Hot sauce was very Generic and Buttermilk sauce was really runny. At $7 per piece, you expect much better.
Had this a couple of times recently, delicious chicken sandwich and superior onion rings to your usual. Recommended!
We ve been trying fried chicken places all over the city for years and think this might be the best!
Got classic fried chicken sandwich with buttermilk onion rings. Food was great, was impressed at how tender and juicy the chicken was. Onion rings were good too. Breading on both had right amount of crispiness + seasoning. I felt it was a bit expensive compared to portion size.
Ordered Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich, Cajun Frites, and the Cajun Lime Dip. Got a BOGO deal on Ubereats. Was blown away, so much so that I plan to order again tonight which prompted me to write this review. I loved that the sandwich was a manageable size. Rather than one of those obscenely large portions of chicken you sometimes find with chicken sandwiches around Toronto. The chicken was crispy and the breading had a nice golden colour. The fries were perfectly done, and a good portion size. Oh and the dip, I can t stop thinking about it. Such a fresh light flavour, but still had a a little heat, literally addictive.
