955 Chinese food in Toronto

I asked for EXTRA curry for my Singapore noodles and for a less spice on my General Tso. I think they forgot the curry entirely :( So bland. The wonton soup is bland, and the General Tso had so much water at the bottom. Adding; I shouldnt have to add soy sauce (I try to minimize soy) to get flavour from the wonton soup and as far as all the water at the bottom of the General Tso (in response to your response) if I had known and you dont specify anywhere, I would not have ordered it. The chicken was also overcooked and dry. When someone gives feedback, its an opportunity to improve not argue. By the way folks if you order here through Uber Eats and are unhappy you are not going to be refunded. Not ordering here again.

This is one of our go to Chinese food spots in the area. It s pricey, but most of the dishes we ve tried are good. Some of our favourites are the honey garlic wings, house fried rice, beef and broccoli (although a little cheap on the beef sometimes), and cantonese chow mein.

As a long time customer of a local spot I decided to try 955 this time and was not disappointed! Food was super fresh and tasty! Chicken balls were the best I ve ever had. They must have forgotten the soy sauce but I had some on hand. Delivery was super quick. Also, it said when I checked out online that there was an error, and closed my page, I waited 20 min and finally got a receipt, thankfully I didn t order elsewhere. Keep this in mind in case it happens. Definitely try this place out if you want something fresh and delicious!

I am dismayed and appalled to see the behavior of the delivery driver tonight infront of my building on Kingston road. I witnessed a delivery driver acting irate towards a customer who left very clear instructions that the driver did not follow. Hes was abusive and aggressive. He was irate because the wrong apartment number had been given. He was flailing her very expensive order around with no regard. The young girl showed me the instructions on her receipt to prove she was telling the truth in the elevator. She had no reason to defend her self to me as a stranger. I work in mental health. He cleary needs an evaluation. I would recommend a leave of absence until he collects himself. You wouldnt want it to escalate further to the point he physically hurts someone. Do better

I was ordering food to a friends apartment building and put instructions to have the driver call when he arrives so I can come meet him. The apartment number I put was the wrong one (my fault). He called when he arrived and I told him I would be right there. When I got to the front of the building I called the driver 3 times and he didnt pick up so I went back to the apartment. He called me back and told me he was downstairs so I went back to meet him. When I got to the front of the building he started screaming at me on the street because I had put the wrong apartment, refused to give me my food and just continued to yell at me. I asked him repeatedly to stop yelling and to give me my food and he refused. It wasnt until i called the restaurant in front of him to inform them what was happening that finally he gave it to me. Terrible customer service from the driver and the manager who I spoke to as she heard the driver screaming at me but told me she couldnt do anything because she needed to hear his side of the story. A driver should never yell at a customer like that, especially over a simple mistake. I will never order from this restaurant again. **edit** Now the manager is lying and saying that the driver did speak a little loud because he woke up an elderly lady and that I made him wait 20 mins. * The manager who replied, as well as other residents of the building heard the driver YELLING at me. * The driver called me at 7:07. I then called him 3 times and he didnt answer. He finally called me back at 7:14 and I met him. So thats 7 mins - not 20 minutes like theyre claiming. And even if he had mistakenly woken someone, that is NO EXCUSE to yell and berate a customer. Appalling customer service all around. I will be telling all my friends and family in the beaches about this experience.

The driver showed up to my friends door with our food on the floor demanding that we give him a tip! He dated verbatim that if we aren t going to tip then we should go pick up our food ourselves! My family nor my friends will ever buy from here again, when I asked the driver for his name he became even more rude raising his voice saying never mind and walked off! Have ordered here many times and always delicious and reliable. Can tell its hard to find staff, as the high school kids working there dont smile, are glued to their phones, and havent a clue about service industry. Review is based on quality of takeout food, which is always great.

Decent dim sum for the price. Service was okay. It is self serve and if you order from the menu, they will charge you full price.

This place is by far the best Chinese food in the east end. Have tried many other places in the area and did not enjoy them. 955 Chinese is awesome! Really love their chicken balls, lemon chicken, Shanghai noodles, and fried rice !!

Too much time they take

I placed an order online and after an hour it never arrived. I called and they told me it was on the way and would be there in 10 Min. 30 min later I called back and they told me it the order was never placed to the kitchen. They offered 20% off my order but by this point it was way too late. Frustrating but they would give wrong info when I called. Do not order online.

Tried this restaurant for delivery (Yeah!! they had an in house driver!!!) and ordered a bunch of dishes. Some of the stand outs were : Crispy Beef - crispy beef done absolutely right, on a bed of fresh sauteed brocolli with a delicious honey sauce. Crispy salt and peper wings servered with lots of complimentry garnish. REally solid wings with great flavour. Beef with Black bean sauce and flat noodle. Perfectly done. Liked the 9 treasure veggies, but personally I wanted a bit more flavour to the sauce, and more asian varieties of veggies (ie bok choy and asian mushrooms - not regular mushrooms) although my partner loved it. I also know for the price point and the price of asain mushrooms - perhaps encorporating that might not be possilbe. I would love to try their Mah Po tofu and special eggplant next time as I feel they are dynamite! We will definatly be ordering from this Queen East resto again.

Ordered for the first time the other day. Was craving barbecue pork buns. They were pleasant on the phone. Menu is reasonably priced. Food came fast. They made a mistake with my order. Let me keep what they sent and delivered what I had ordered. Good customer service is hard to come by These days.

Parking: No joke super tasty

Generally, when I order General Taos Chicken it is much spicier than theirs. There was cross contamination of flavor in the dishes. Beef and broccoli had a shrimp taste to it. Probably will not order again.

The best Chinese food in Toronto! I love the beef and broccoli also any of the noodles. The flavours are always perfect and tasty. Some of the best dumplings in Toronto as well. Love this place and the customer service is incredible.

Food is yummy and prices are good! Shanghai noodles are super tasty. The only thing we didn t like were the pan fried pork dumplings. Service is absolutely terrible, but that s not why we go there. They only have one or two staff managing everything, so they are just overworked. You have to ask for everything and usually one thing you order either doesn t come or comes way too late. A great place for cheap Chinese!

This was the best Chinese Food I ve had in toronto. Hands down.

It s a 2 simply because the crispy chicken was good, well seasoned. They however just put it on top of dry crispy (fried) noodles. No sauce, no seasoning nothing. I ordered because of the reviews and I Am so disappointed. I wasted my money and feel robbed and they charged me $21.41!!!

Excellent quality food, service is good and there is a robot to deliver the food on trays! Pretty cool! Staff are very polite too. Family had a pleasant time as well after many visits (that is how I heard about this restaurant). Definitely recommend if you are looking for Chinese food in the Beaches.

Probably some of the best Chinese food we ve ever had, highly recommended , must try . Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious.

Hidden gem? The sign, name, and menu outside did not match the indoor vibe (which was elegantly decorated and looked like a great place to sit). The service was fast and friendly and the menu had tons of options. Unfortunately the menu items had no decryptions and it was very difficult to discern if dishes were vegetarian friendly.

Not bad. Mapo tofu and chefs eggplant were delicious. Cantonese chow mein was very bland.

My family chose to dine in. Now I have to say, the food was amazing. It was fresh and the service was very quick. However, the treatment we got from the waitresses was so poor and unprofessional that it truly was as if they werent even there. No enthusiasm, dressed inapropriately for such a beautifully designed establishment, and they completely ignored us since they just sat on their phones. We had to flag them down and politely asked if we could get some more water. When the waitress came to the table, she left the pitcher on the table and went back to staring at her phone. My mother was the one to refill everyones glass. The cooks are very friendly people. I recommend the food for home delivery.

Excellent food. Great pork buns. Great fried rice. Great dumplings. Great General Tsos chicken. More people should try this place out. Atmosphere inside is quite nice. Havent tried alcohol there, so I cant vouch for that yet.

Ordered delivery from here for the first time and we very much enjoyed our meal. The portions were ample and there were plenty of leftovers. Food was piping hot and tasted fresh; it was exactly what we were looking for. The delivery was very fast too! We ordered egg rolls, chicken balls, stir fry mixed veggies, rice, crispy beef and general tso chicken; the Chinese/N. American staples, and 955 did not disappoint.

The worst Chinese food ever. We went there today and had the buffet option. All the dim sums were microwaved and added to the heated trays. Dim Sums were dry as cardboard. Minimal selection. We left there after a few bits of the food. Not worth the money.

On August 27th my wife went to 955 Chinese food. What a great place an great atmosphere. Ordered 3 main dishes. Food, service and atmosphere was 5 stars. Robot came out with food piping hot. That is way we like it. Coming back for sure.

The food is excellent only if you get the right order. The person who is taking the order or packing the order has no idea what they are doing. I would say my order is incorrect 50% of the time for the past 2 years of ordering food. Its so frustrating. I just cant order food from here anymore. Unfortunately i now need to find a new Chinese takeout place. I hope this can be sorted out internally. Best of luck. FYI. I ask for non-spicy noodles, i get it loaded with chilies, not once or twice, but multiple times - its not even edible. I ask for general tso chicken, i get chicken wings. I ask for lemon chicken, i get no lemon sauce, etc. Get your act together.

I called them up on October 7th late afternoon to make reservations for October 9th and they said they will be open on that day and will reserve for my 8 person party. When I showed up the restaurant was closed with a sign saying they are taking a day off for Oct 9th and Oct 10 for Thanksgiving. Would have been nice if they would have let me know about it rather than have me and my friends come from all around GTA to waste our time and travel expenses. We ended up scrambling to find an alternative plan which ended up with our group breaking up into smaller groups and headed to different restaurants. Very disappointed by the service here.

fresh clean and robot assisted waiters..i had spec #1, lemon chicken, it was great. two others had the lunch buffet, they loved it. highly recomended. no hot sauce or soy sauce offered.

Service was fast, servers were super friendly and the food was great! They have a robot that helps serve the food which was very exciting for our daughter and added something entertaining while we were waiting for our food. Portions were a good size. Love this place ! Only place I will order from . I love the fact when I asked for Chilli oil , I actually get it ( i like the taste of their chilli oil). Food is really good ! I love their beef and flat noodle dish . Vegetables are always cooked nice and not to oliy . Great place must try !

Just moved into the neighbourhood and have been wanting to order from 955 since reading the amazing reviews. Did not disappoint! Food arrived and was piping hot, the General Tao Chicken was crispy, the vegetables were fresh, the noodles were perfectly cooked. This will definitely be a staple restaurant for us :) We ordered Christmas eve and they were completely swamped with orders - the food did take longer to arrive than anticipated, but that did not affect the quality at all. The staff were sincerely apologetic and clearly care about good service and food quality. Happy Holidays!

Please note that if you order online the Add Section will add the item to the previous item you added. EG.. I added pork to see what would happen and it got added to the eggplant dish I just added before that. Order took 2.5 hours to arrive after ordering. Not sure what the issue was but they should have conveyed wait time properly also forgot my egg roll. Ordering General Tso (tasty but not spicy), Crispy Beef (almost too crispy but still yummy). Fried rice was deliciouis. All said get the delays down and would order again. Edit: ordered again and things went a lot smoother. One of the better Canadian Chinese food places around.

Great food

Great food, however their General Tso Chicken is rather sweet. Taste like honey garlic chicken. If you don t like honey garlic chicken, I wouldn t recommend it. However the chicken was fresh and delicious, just not my taste.

Worst customer service and terrible food! Avoid at all costs!! Yesterday I called them at 3:15pm, placed an order to be delivered at 5:45pm. I call them at 5:50pm to see where the food is, and speak to some rude girl, who put me on hold for 8 minutes and I can hear helping other customers. When we finally talk, I am upset and she tells me that they are very busy (Chinese New Year) and the food is on the way. She lied. 20 minutes later, I go to the restaurant (I have 3 kids under the age of 5 waiting for their dinner) to see if the food is there and again, she lies, telling me that the food will be at my house at any moment. I see a man inside wearing no mask, who ends up being the man who delivers my food 30 minutes later (a total of 1 hour late), meaning my food hadnt been cooked when I was there. The food was sub par, especially the higher priced items like the beef (super tough and fatty) and scallops. I would never order from this establishment again, as they dont value honesty or their clients.

Horrible service! Zero stars for service. The girl who took our order said 1 hr for delivery. After 1 hr I called to follow-up, she put me on hold for 8.5 minutes and then hung up. I called again and she hung up and wouldnt pick up the phone. My boyfriend called again and she said its on its way. The food came after 1 hr and 30 mins. At that point I had lost my appetite. Will never be ordering from them again. NOT WORTH the wait!!!

I love this place. It has some of the best Chinese food Ive ever had and I am yet to be disappointed by this place. And theyre liberal with the fortune cookies!

I recently had a bad experience with another Chinese food restaurant so I Google other ones and saw this place. I was happy with the food, serving sizes and time. We were told it would be around 30 minutes and it came in just under. My only complaint is they only have 1 option for dinner for 4 and dinner for 5. But besides that, I loved it.

Tried 995 Chinese last night (Oct 8, 2021) for the first time. Very glad we did! We only got two dishes and veggie egg rolls. Black Bean Sauce with Beef and Broad Noodles was fantastic! The General Yao s Chicken was also fantastic! Juicy, breast meat - both generous serving sizes. The Veggie Egg Rolls were the only pass, but we normally don t get those. To me, even with my small sample size, this is the best Chinese food in the east end, by far. It s just like the more famous shops on Spadina. It s not the faux stuff you get from the Goof or Honey Bee. It s in the same league as Swatow and Rol San. Super happy they opened on Queen. Will go back soon and try some other dishes. Can t wait to try their dim sum, too.

Been going here for years, and its been fantastic every time. They seem to have moved to Queen Street, and raised the prices, while shrinking the portions. No idea how a combo can be made without an egg roll. Disappointing for sure.

Never going back because I order the chicken balls and they had partial raw dough in the middle and i don t know what kind of chicken it was but it was very mushy and had no flavour. Spent $15 for chicken balls that were 30%chicken 70% partially cook dough batter.

Great lunch Buffet! Hot, Fresh and well stocked selections. Great variety and clean settings. Service was great, friendly and efficient. I will be returning especially for the amazing sticky rice !

Food is great. You need to get your timing right between when the software says the food will be ready vs. when it is ACTUALLY ready. I waited TWENTY minutes on Oct 24 for my food. The cashier kept saying 5 minutes and I didnt believe her. IN ADDITION, I ordered the fried rice and got a beef dish instead. Your restaurant should DOUBLE CHECK each dish and put a tick mark on the dish for quality control instead of just ticking the piece of paper where the items have been noted. Welcome to Queen Street and lets hope these two matters get ironed out before the end of the year.

A nice new location, but they seem to have lost some organizational skills in the move. Long wait times for pick up about twice what you are told. Uber drivers all waiting patiently for orders. And the food was rushed through the kitchen so unfortunately the quality suffered.

Theyve moved one East West street down from Kingston road to Queen streethough the Queen street but tonight the weight was exceptionally long as well as many customers and you will see those comments from December 17th from 6 PM to 10 PM.

Food was incredible, very fresh and tasty. Some of the best Chinese food i have ever had!! Try the general Tsos chicken or the crispy beef both very good. Small operation but the owners are very hard working honest guys, worth checking out if you are in the area and love good Chinese food.

Wow good quality food for good price , keep it up

The food was very average, Goof or Honey Bee quality: Lo Mein flavorless, ribs overly sweet and dry, szechuan chicken not bad, rice average. Delivery was extremely slow an hour and 40 minutes. And the slow delivery was exacerbated when I was told after an hour the order just left, then 20 minutes later when again I was told the food just left. Pretty lame. Wont order again.

Id prefer a zero star. We ordered delivery at 6pm. By 730 nothing arrived. My wife and I called at least 10x before someone picked up. At 8pm someone finally answered and they said our order hadnt even been prepared yet let alone ready for delivery after 2hrs. They only offered a $20 discount. We declined and cancelled our order and now left to scramble to feed our 2 kids. Ill NEVER order from them again and advise everyone to avoid them. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience

Stumbled upon this place a few days ago. Pleasantly surprised. Food was super fresh and clean. Not greasy. I only had a combo meal for one but will for sure be back to get a big take out feast.

All I can say is WOW! The food from this place was incredible. Ive been in Toronto for three years and Ive finally found Chinese food that is incredibly tasty and that I really enjoy. The delivery took about 30 minutes and arrived nice and hot! We had the beef flack noodle, chicken chow mein and pineapple chicken. Portions were very generous as well. Will be ordering again soon!

We ordered from them completely on impulse and on a whim when we found their brochure in our mailbox. Best decision weve made! We took the risk and ordered their scallops and lobster and holy, it was amazing. It was fresh, flavorful and it was cooked perfectly (not under or over)! They delivered efficiently! The manager and the girl who took my order was so sweet! Love love love this establishment and Ive only ordered once! We will be back for sure!! Highly recommend. Probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Very bland rice, mediocre meat. I actually threw out the food I didnt finish.

Went there today based on all the good reviews. Got the crispy beef but was more like taffy beef. Stuck to my teeth like candy and basically not edible. Ive had good crispy beef so I know what it should be like. It was at New Sky on Spadina. The Lo Mein was very oily and only a couple pieces of carrots and broccoli each. Not the best Ive had by a long shot. The egg rolls were alright. And finally the chicken balls....well....I actually liked those. My girlfriend thought they were undercooked b/c they were a bit doughy inside but I didnt mind.

Went in last night for the first time and the food was great! I had the Szechuan seafood, hot and sour soup, General Tso Chicken and Chicken fried rice. Owners we very friendly too! Will be back for sure!
