Dundas Spring Garden in Toronto

So good! Thankful for this spot, especially when I had food sensitivities. Dundas Spring Garden, 10/10 everytime!

Had General Taos Chicken. Shrimp Woton, filled without shrimp, and mediocre fried shrimp roll. The chicken was a good portion, but not a highlight in terms of taste. The first Chinese restaurant that charged money for the table setting after I didnt want to leave a tip. The chicken was okay in terms of price There was a lot of Chinese food but the number with the table setting is unique. There was still half the food left on the other tables and the dishes were piling up in the kitchen.

The pan-fried egg with oysters was pretty good, and so was the salt and pepper shrimp. My favourite, however, was the deep-fried crispy chicken.

Classic Cantonese food, good sized portions, great value

Ordered on Uber eats, every dish was truly awful. The chilli chicken is the biggest disappointment. Tiny cubed chicken fried . Oh there are chillis in the box with them but no way they were used in the cooking. Bland, no spice, awful. Sweet and sour sauce tastes funky too and the chowmein, inedible. I can t recommend ordering from anywhere else more.

Warm reminder: It is recommended not to go here. Every dish is extremely expensive and tastes terrible. Forget it. The service attitude is also very bad. I am very impatient even after ordering. Don t go there. Seriously, it s just for fun. Disgusting

I went here for a staff lunch and all of the dishes were delicious, it reminds me of the restaurant in would go to as a kid with my family. From the clear broth soup at the beginning and the dessert at the end of the meal was a treat.

Bad attitude. Cheating customers. Serving expired food just to make money. Should be prepared to close permanently. Very hateful

This is the place I usually go and trust whenever I organize big group lunches. This time we had 20 people and 10 dishes per table - not a single dish was bad. Very authentic Cantonese food with dishes that some other restaurants dont make anymore. My favourites were the lobster and the bird nest made with taro (very crunchy). The steamed tilapia was fresh and tender too. Service was amazing, every single staff including the owner were friendly and caring.

The people that work here don t know their own culture lol. Gave me a order of shrimp wonton with no shrimp.

We ordered lobster in ginger and green onion sauce, and steam rice. The ginger was pretty hard and not too fresh. The lobster seemed to be a fair size, not over cooked as it was for delivery. It just wasnt the same as sitting for a meal. I recommend eating these types of items in person. Not exactly the freshest lobster catch. I will try something else another time.

Lobster green onion and ginger delivery by UberEats. The size was spot on for the price. The smell of the lobster was good, but the garnishes were not fresh. Its best to eat lobster in person to avoid possible rubbery impact. I normally love to eat ginger and green onion and the hardness or limp for green onions was unappetizing. The delivery was fine. Its possible that this dish had extra cooking time because of the delivery. We ordered two bowls of rice.

This place used to be good but I find the portions have decreased while the prices have increased. We decided to try the Kung pao chicken instead of the usual general tso. The chicken pieces were SO TINY. I m talking the same size as the peanuts, and there was not much of it at all. Mostly peanuts and onions/celery. Not worth $16 at all. Won t be ordering from here again.

I got Hunan beef and it was really good. Nothing mind blowing or anything but I would definitely order it again. Its low level spicy (for me) but has lots of veggies and beef which I liked. Theres tofu as well, which tasted really good but I wish it wasnt in such big chunks compared to everything else.

Went to eat lunch, beside table there was a live mouse struggling in a glue trap on the floor. The waitress response to this was to shrug her shoulders. We did not order anything and left immediately.

Great basic Chinese restaurant. Better hot and sour soup than most. Wonderful Hostess.

I ve tried this place a few times and had the beef/fried noodles and it s delicious but even better the portions were very big!

I ordered squid tentacles and soup for 20 dollars. The portion was not enough for one person. How about a few squid fried for ten? There is also this roast duck for thirty dollars. The portion is okay, but the taste and texture of the meat are too bad. It doesn t feel fresh.

Worst Chinese food Ive ever eaten

By the time we paid, they still didnt serve us the two dishes they forgot. Terrible service,only show up at order and paid time,but they still charge us 18%.

awful experience, and will never buy from them again! --- They go under Chuan Garden with Skip the Dishes - Paid for food, waited, then waited some more, and waited, then got my food, but the incorrect food...called the store, but staff was unpleasant and unhelpful. Food ended up being super bland! Tons of other great Chinese restaurants around, such as Dim Sum King - thankfully!

As much as I want to support restaurants during lockdown, I refused to show sympathy to restaurants serving bad quality food. Spring Garden is one such example. The hot and sour soup was excessively sour. No thanks. The fried tofu in brown sauce was a waste of my money. The tofu was not fresh as I could taste the sourness. And the vegetable was overcooked. The yeung chow fried rice taste ok, albeit plain with minimal ingredients. Honestly in situation like this, I hate lockdown as i am unable to tell the restaurant right away about the dish. And is it even worth paying the $7 TTC fare to bring the food back to let the restaurant know?! Yet, I already wasted my money in the first place ordering food for takeout from this restaurant that I had hope would cook better than me. Boo.

LOVE their spicy peanut crispy chicken dish

Sweet and Sour Fish and Tiger Shrimp is delicious. Big portions of fried rice/noodle and black pepper beef with mushrooms. Favorite Uber Eats go to.

Placed order on Skip. They manage their own delivery and the food never arrived after waiting an hour and a half. Paid money for nothing and would never order from here again.

Reheated food, raised price of bill. Large portions and fairly priced until you try and pay. Bill came out to $62.48 however waitress attempted to charge us $70 and did not let us see the bill. When we asked to look at bill she refused. We then said we won t pay without the bill. The server then hands us the bill from her pocket and we notice that she is over charging us by $10. We asked why we are being charged $10 extra, the waitress said that it s $2 per person tip that we include however with 3 of us at the table this math does not add up (2+2+2= 6 and not 10). The menu does not state that tip is automatically included on your bill, this was also never mentioned to us. We were planning on tipping 20% and coming back soon to try more dishes but now will never return and tell others not to eat here.

Restaurant owned Delivery was half hour late and they asked rudely for more tip. They confirm [delivered] before they delivered. Food is absolutely horrible.

This place is a classic Chinatown institution. Great for late night eats as well as lunches. Portions are huge and the food is good. Shanghai noodles and Sichuan chicken Chow Mein are bomb as well as the oxtail hotpot. The owners friendly and the wait staff remember their regulars as well as their usual. What more could you ask for in a resto?

The product is good. I like eating at Yaoshan Chicken Nest. The service is good. The seats are comfortable. It s worth paying to try.

Terrible experience!!!! Placed an order for delivery, the charged my CC and my food was never delivered. Tried calling the restaurant multiple times in a 3hour period and they never answered their phone. Worst business ethics I ve ever seen. Don t waste your time with this business. You would think that during a pandemic when you try to support a local small business this is the service you receive...unbelievable.

We didnt feel like cooking so decided to give this place a shot as it had a 30% off promo on Uber eats. In all honesty, while the prices were really great the food itself was bland and not that great. We ordered shrimp spring rolls, deep fried shrimp, chicken fried rice, crispy beef chow mein, chicken wings and spicy beef. Wings were great, fried shrimp was alright as well....the chow mein and everything else was terrible. I understand the standard is a bit lower because the price was low but I wouldnt recommend this place unless you cant really afford something else.

i order from this place all the time for work during my night shift, food is always fresh and hot and tastes amazing. they really care for the order and cater really amicably to the small things like asking for no shrimp ;P. LOVE THE BRAISED TOFU

Consistent Friendly Reasonable

Recently moved to the area and trusted Skip the Dishes reviews. This was a mistake. The food is no better than cheap food court food - bland and geared to people who dont care what they eat. Stay far away unless everything else is closed and youre starving

Did take out and even after driving 30 minutes back home, the food stayed hot and fresh! Everything was so tasty, and it did not disappoint at all. We ordered a LOT (as you can see), and it was all so good!! Our order consisted of: lobster in ginger and green onion sauce, lobster in black bean sauce, salt and pepper shrimp (this was also spicy) satay beef rice noodle, young chow fried rice, green beans with minced pork, snow pea leaves with enoki mushrooms, Szechuan style crispy chicken

I order through skip the dishes did not received my drink informed skip the dishes the manager of the restaurant called me was extremely rude hung up on me twice, how can a Manger of an establishment call a customer accused them of lying, I will never order from them again plus the food was not that great.

Went to pick up my Ritual order the other night (it was an early Saturday night) and it was quite smooth. Ordered the pea shoots with enoki, beef and flat rice noods, and hot n sour soup. Everything was quite tasty and still hot when brought home (its about a 10 mins walk, but I did use an insulating bag). Ive tried lots of hot n sour soup in chinatown, and this ones up there. Will take out from them again.

I WARN you that you shouldnt eat at this restaurant. We ordered some take out. The food was good until we found a bug in our food.

I often get delivery from this place. The chow mein is really good, freshly fried noodles so they re very crisp. The fried rice comes in a very large portion, definitely enough for two. I also like the spicy eggplant on rice. However, would not recommend the fried shrimp wontons - there s almost no filling in it so it s pretty much just deep fried dumpling wrappers. A lot of other reviews mention awful delivery times. Personally, I ve never had this issue. I don t live particularly close to the restaurant and my food usually comes in 45 mins. The food is very cheap (most dishes are under $13) and the portion sizes are large. As well, they do free delivery on orders over $20, which is great.

I dont normally write reviews, especially negative ones, but my experience was horrendous. We ordered their 196. Satay Beef with Glass Noodle and Spring Rolls. They were bland, mushy, and oily. No taste to speak of and no flavour. We felt sick to the stomach afterwards. Truly awful. Couldnt even finish and we had been starving right before.

A great place to have lunch. They have really great price on lunch special. Its about $7.00 - 8.00/ dish and even come with a free soup.

I ve ordered from this place 3 times now and they never disappoint! The food is always hot, affordable and enjoyable. The staff on the phone are very helpful when we try and understand some of the menu items.

Did Change near New Year dinner. Didnt have reservations but was able to get a table right away however noticed they were rather under staffed and an abundance of take out orders were leaving constantly. We ordered 5 dishes...3of which we didnt have to wait long but by the time we got our last two dishes we were hungry again. Yes it was a busy night and yes the resto was full and a massive back up with food delivery orders. Id visit on a less busy night or at least come early enough to avoid the crowd. Food was good...Gai Lan with garlic was my favourite. lobster in ginger scallions coating was small but sweet. Crab and fish maw soup was lovely and filling, but the Peking duck took the longest wait...as if they had to go chase down a duck from somewhere else, thats how long it took. We are it happily but the wait was just too much.

Ordered the pork & green onion pan fried dumplings - very tasty!

One of their delivery drivers dont bother delivering to your door. He waits in his car and expects YOU to get the food from him. The second time I ordered delivery, I purposely didnt leave a tip (I was going to tip cash if they make it to my door), funnily enough it was the same delivery driver. He actually INSISTED on a tip for his service. The most recent order wasnt even fulfilled, I waited more than an hour for food that never came. They called after Skip the Dishes contacted them and told me there was an error and that a new order would take a minimum of 30 minutes. Who would wait 2hr+ for food delivery? Do yourself a favour and get food from one of the many OTHER restaurants in the city.

Placed an order on Uber Eats and the app froze during payments. It didn t show it went through. I placed the order again and the restaurant had called and said you placed two orders, which one should I make. They haven t made any of the orders at this point. Once the 1st order appeared on the app, I cancelled it. $103 later....no refund on something that was never made

Food did not arrive until an hour late. Food was also cold. Driver expected me to come all the way down after taking forever to even come. Absolute joke of a service

Placed an order on skipthedishes and waited an hour and a half before contacting help. They informed me the restaurant needs confirmation on cash orders and tried reaching out to me (which I received no calls) and so basically waited for nothing.

Food was alright, nothing special and everything was doused in sauce. However, the waiter insists on us tipping a certain amount, even to the point on refusing to give us the change that we ask for, even though we did tip and we gave her more than what was specified on the bill. Definitely not coming back.

Food was great. I ordered a half chicken and it was moist and crispy. I also had the shrimp wontons. They were a disappointment because it was one or no shrmp inside the deep fried wonton wrapper. The lobster costs cheaper than most chinese restaurants and it tastes like the rest. Its a great place to eat when youre hungry at night

Only order your food if you want your lunch to be delivered at dinner time. When I called to ask when it would arrive after 1.5hr since I placed an order, they said it will in a minute. It arrived after another 46 minutes. The owner will keep on lying telling that it will arrive in 2 minutes every time I called. Yelled at me that they are busy and said what can i do? I am not the driver (they were responsible for their own deliveries - mentioned on skipthedishes). They will not apologize, just yell at you and hang up on you.

A very wide offering of freshly made great old school Sichuan/Chinese food, even late (after midnight on a Saturday). Good service. I wish the prices were as great; but then again, this is downtown Toronto afterall. I enjoyed my garlic spicy greens!

Terrible service. I was given the wrong order, still gave a 20% tip, and was told that it is my mistake. I was offered no compensation or any coupons. Would not recommend. Staff was rude as well

Great food super fresh. Simple deco but the place is vibrant with poeople and we will go back. We ordered General Tao; it was crispy and excellent. Dumplings (pork with chives) were freshly made for our order and had Singapore noodles which was one of the best I have had.

Decent Chinese-Canadian food. Good value for money. Can be inconsistent regarding how greasy/crispy the fried food is. The spicy peanut chicken is quite good and interestingly different from the usual sugary sauces. Reliable delivery. A bit sparse on the vegetarian options.

Big portions, very good lunch prices

Avoid if possible. I ordered delivery from here and they told me an hour. An hour passed and no one arrived. I tried calling and suddenly their phone doesnt go through. 5 more minutes of trying to get through and they finally answer. They then proceed to put me on hold for another 10 minutes so they can call the driver. Then they hang up on me. When I called back to get an answer they told me they dont know. It could me 15, 20 or 30 more minutes. Big mistake ordering here.

Do not order from here. Placed an order on Skip at 5:18pm and still did not receive the order by 8pm. Tried to contact them but they never answer the phone. Eventually had enough and was able to get a refund from Skip. Dont waste your time.

Excellent service and great taste

This place has the most disgusting food. Everything we ordered tasted terrible (chow mein, fried rice and spring rolls) I can t discribe the taste, it just didn t taste anything like what it s supposed to. The fried rice was also not even fried rice, it was white steamed rice with shrimp. Overall I would never order from this place

I ordered a fried rice with shrimps. The shrimps turned sour. I strongly do not recommend this place. Hopefully they would improve their food quality, at least do not offer customers the expired food.

Great food, great service !!! Suggest this place

The food here is fantastic and incredibly reasonable! The portions are very generous and are filled with flavour. I ordered the eggplant udon noodles and tofu with rice (without the pork). The staff was friendly and accommodating.

The service here is absolutely horrible.. we waited for 40 minutes for them to tell us that someone mistakenly took our order. They didnt even offer us a free brevrege for their mistake. We asked them for a refund so we could leave and they refused.
