69 Yorkville Ave, Toronto, ON M5R 1B8, Canada
A beloved local Chinese restaurant in Bloor-Yorkville, Dynasty Chinese Cuisine has welcomed guests to enjoy its contemporary Chinese cuisine, warm hospitality, and unparalleled service for over two decades.
Restaurant has a large dining room, a separate small section (to the left when entering), and a seasonal balcony/patio. The restaurant has an extensive menu as well as a dim sum menu. Prices are moderate high, and most dishes are made to order fresh ingredients. Service is efficient if, at times, hurried. Correct but not overly friendly. Food tends to arrive relatively fast except for peak periods.
The last time I dined in this restaurant was over 20+ years ago, in the old location. I especially came here today to try again, just to refresh my memory. It didn't list the price on the dim sum paper, well, expected very expensive. Very empty even during lunch time, probably around 5 tables. I ordered har gow $9.95 and duck tongues $19.95. Duck tongues is fine but the har gow is over steamed. The skin and the shrimp are fallen apart when I picked it up. Overall, food and service are average. The restaurant is big and quiet environment, it is good for business lunch, especially you are looking for Chinese food. If you are coming by yourselves or family, and willing to break your bank, there are many choices in Yorkville.
I was recommended to come and dine here and since going, I’ve already recommended several of my friends to go. The food was delicious and loved the presentation of each dish. The service makes you feel like you’re really taken care of. The atmosphere was the perfect noise level for a date night as well. I’ll be sure to come back and enjoy another meal with Dynasty. I also hear lots of celebs come here when they stay in Toronto for the TIFF! 😱
I went there on a date with my girlfriend and honestly had one of the best meals ever! Service was excellent and of course the location is amazing. Nothing but great things to say about this place!
This place is an exquisite gem of culinary mastery. From the elegant ambiance to the impeccable service, every visit here is a delightful experience. The menu boasts a tantalizing array of traditional and innovative dishes, each prepared with utmost finesse and using the freshest ingredients. Whether you're savoring their signature Peking Duck or exploring their seafood specialties, every dish is a testament to their commitment to quality and authenticity. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, ensuring that every detail of your dining experience exceeds expectations. Dynasty Fine Chinese truly sets the standard for exceptional Chinese cuisine in Toronto's vibrant dining scene. Highly recommended for both intimate dinners and celebratory gatherings alike!
Dynasty Chinese Cuisine is top-notch! The food is authentic and bursting with flavor—everything from the dim sum to the main dishes is cooked to perfection. The service is prompt and attentive, making the dining experience even better. The elegant atmosphere adds to the overall experience, making it perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. Highly recommend for anyone craving high-quality Chinese cuisine! I’m very much excited to go back soon!!
I went with a large group so I was able to try many dishes here. Overall I am happy with the quality and taste of all of the dishes. The restaurant was clean and the server was friendly and very helpful. Interesting to see that they half prepped the peking duck for you here. At majority of the other Chinese restaurants, you get to assemble it by yourself. Will come back to try out some of their other dishes.
I would say this is one of the best restaurants in Toronto!! Definitely worth to try if you are looking for traditional Chinese food or a place to enjoy good food with your friends and family. You’ll love this place! The menu has a fantastic selection of dishes, and we loved everything we tried.
So delicious
I thought the dim sum was really good here. We normally go to Markham and Richmond Hill for a great dim sum but I m glad I found a place downtown. All the dishes were freshly made, hot and delicious. I noticed an attention to freshness and detail you only get in really good dim sum houses. We hope to be back soon. If I could offer a suggestion, have smaller tables in your dining room for couples and foursomes. I hate waiting when a quarter of the dining room is empty yet you want to leave the bigger tables open for the patrons that never arrive .frustrating! Parking: Expensive to park in Yorkville, walk if u r close by.
I so agree with all the 5 star reviews. My only go-to restaurant for fine authentic Chinese food. Attentive service and beautifully displayed dishes that are so Pleasing to the Palate. Going to dine alone - because thats how much I love it!! Did I mention?!? LOVE IT!
Feels like high-end Chinese dining! I felt a little bit shy because I just ordered congee for my meal. But the servers were very nice. Will go back to try their other dishes!
I dont know why this restaurant has such a low rating. I have been here so many times. It has became one of my regular places. As least from my own experiences, the service here is always so friendly and professional. I feel very comfortable having my dinner here, no matter with others or alone. And as a Chinese myself, I think the Chinese cuisine here is one of the best in Downtown Toronto, especially if you know how to pick the appropriate Chinese dishes. I feel that Chinese restaurants in Toronto are usually very unstable in terms of their food quality. But Dynasty always holds a very stable quality of their food, even after the pandemic. I wish there could more people come to this place and try. The restaurant are always kinda quiet and empty every time I came here. I wish it could have better business and survive longer, so I won t lose one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Toronto! It feel sad not having enough good quality Chinese restaurant options as a Chinese here
Best Chinese food and kind staff. Even the delivery travels well, been going there for years.
Food was decent but ultimately it came down to the service. Waiters and waitresses were rude and would even scoff when I would ask for something. Worst part is how the waiter even raised his finger and rudely said to wait even at that I had already been waiting for 20 minutes to have my order taken.
Delicious food, nice ambiance. It feels sophisticated, but also cozy. Good variety of dishes on their menu.
Me and my family ate here after a plane ride, and it was relitively empty. However, the food was outstanding. Highly recommend!
Awesome venue and food great!
Dietary restrictions: hhgfcf Food
We just went to Dynasty today Civic holiday Monday , and it s packed on a Monday wow top notch food & service as usual, even full house
Dim sum was awesome and the owner Ivan is super nice!
Dynasty Chinese Cuisine offers an elegant dining experience with authentic Cantonese dishes. Their dim sum is a highlight, Service is efficient, though it can be a bit busy during peak hours. The upscale atmosphere and quality of the food make it a great spot for special occasions.
Great food. Great service
I should ve trusted the review and not go here. Do yourself an favour and go to Pearl Harbour Front Dim Sum instead. The food, service, and atmosphere there are much better. Unfortunately, the service at this place was terrible. The staff was rude and seemed to have no regard for customer service. We arrived at our table at 12:50pm and immediately ordered several dishes from the dim sum menu. However, we only received two veggie dishes out of the 14 dishes after waiting for fifty minutes. (see photo, we were only eating veggie for half an hour and nothing else lol) Another dish finally arrived half an hour later. Our server, Ming, was incredibly rude. He would rush to leave whenever I tried to speak to him, never allowing me to finish my sentence and I always had to stop him from leaving so I could finish my sentences. When we asked him why our food was taking so long while the two tables around us, who arrived after us, had already received their food, he simply brushed off the issue and claimed that it might be a different menu, even though they had clearly ordered dim sum as well. We had to ask for water three times, and I noticed that he gave a smaller fork to another toddler without them having to ask for it, but he never offered one to my 3.5-year-old daughter. I couldnt help but wonder if this was because we are not white. The issues didnt stop there. He also tried to overcharge us , I pointed out and he said oh. He also questioned why I left a $10 tip. Frankly, I didnt even feel the need to leave a tip at all after the worst service I ve ever experienced.
The food are so delicious and fresh Edwin costumer service the best of the best we ever had Extremely elegant manner he gave us an awesome and amazing service Parking: N A
The food is good, however, It s obvious that the waiter didn t care about how we feel, very rude and disrespectful.
The service and food are great! ! recommend! !
Good food and service.
Ordered dim sums, they were bland, no one did table check, they were rude. No one cares and it shows, that is why it was empty.
Dynasty Restaurant is absolutely, hands down the finest Chinese food in Toronto. The food is superb, the service is impeccable, the atmosphere is friendly, elegant, in-rushed and it s always a delight to go there
The only and must go Chinese restaurant in dt.I love the atmosphere there! Best food with best service!
Been here many times and it has always been great everytime I came. Amazing staff and classy environment. Parking: Green P parking across the street
Everything else about the place is fine, but the food I tried was a big letdown for me. Even the ingredients didn t taste fresh.
Poor slow service and sticky floors indicate a complete lack of care. Busboy gave us chrysanthemum tea instead of pu-erh tea refill as requested. Restaurant doesnt smell clean. Watch out for $15.95 sp and $19.95 xsp on the dim sum bill. Minced beef with chive: was actually cilantro, beware.
Best authentic Chinese food in the heart of Yorkville. I always come here with friends or clients whenever we crave for Chinese dim sum.
The authentic food and welcoming service was amazing! Very attentive. Will be back
It has been a few months since last time I went to Dynasty for lunch. What a surprise! They have a new dim-sum menu with many new choices. I ordered the lava bun, the oyster tempera and the sweet and sour fish. They are sooooo yummy. The lava bun has the melting egg yolk with the perfect taste of sweet and saltiness. The sweet and sour fish has the right crispiness. The oyster tempera tasted good but did not seem very special. Unfortunately, we cannot try the rest as there were only 3 of us. Definitely will come back. Our server Ming is very attentive with great service. He even remembered my name!
Wanted some dim sum and our hotel highly recommended. The food was excellent, and the size was a bit deceiving in a good way. The food will fill you up. I enjoyed everyone of the five we had. Very quick service and did not feel rushed to leave when done. Would like to come with a larger group sometime to try an even larger variety.
Excellent high quality Chinese food. I came in before kitchen hours and was limited to the Dim Sum menu. Even this menu is quite extensive. I tried the shrimp spring rolls and the minced beef wrap. Both impressed in quality. Shrimp rolls were well made, nicely cooked and cracked at the center. It had the seafoody taste I wanted and the shrimp were decent size. The dipping sauce was good. Beef dish was also good. Just these two dishes were filling. Id love to come back and try more. I see people complaining about prices. Their prices are actually good. Its in Yorkville, so it is in a premium location. Interior was nice and colourful. Visually stimulating. The bar and the architectural lighting were something to behold. Staff were super friendly. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian dishes Parking: Its in Yorkvilles center so parking is hard to find. The GreenP garage is your best bet. Kid-friendliness: Nothing unfriendly, so its friendly
Food was fabulous!
One of the best Chinese restaurants in Toronto! I went on a weekday without a reservation and was able to get seated very quickly. The service was very friendly and gave me recommendations on the food. The Cantonese Chow Mein was very flavourful and had lots of meat. Food came quickly and very delicious. I recommend the Peking Duck, one of the best I ve had compared to elsewhere. No street parking however, so either come by transit for park nearby
I recently ate at Dynasty Chinese Cuisine on Yorkville Street in downtown Toronto, and it was fantastic. The elegant setting and attentive staff made us feel special right away. We started with the Peking Duck, which was perfectly crispy and tender. The Dim Sum, especially the Har Gow and Siu Mai, were fresh and delicious. The Ginger and Scallion Lobster was a highlight with its delicate, aromatic flavors. We also loved the Stir-Fried Snow Pea Leaves with Garlic and the Kung Pao Chicken. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the Jasmine tea was a nice touch. Dynasty is definitely a place Ill visit again for great Chinese food.
Weve been visiting this restaurant for 25+ years, starting before they moved to their current location. It was the most authentic Cantonese dim sum place in Toronto. We hadnt been there since the pandemic, but today we tried it again with the same dim sum dishes we used to order, and it was disappointing. The taste has changed, and even the traditional ingredients have changed. I understand it s now more tailored for Western customers, which makes sense for their location and clientele. I would suggest they remove the traditional Cantonese dim sum items from their menu and focus on what appeals to Western customers. Traditional Chinese customers likely wont enjoy the new taste and probably wont come anymore. Embracing a fusion dim sum with a Western twist seems to be the best way forward. Additionally, they should consider re-decorating the restaurant and adopting a business model similar to that of Susur Lees restaurant. With some effort on the plating of the dim sum, they could potentially charge more. As the restaurant is trying to make both Chinese and Western customers happy with the menu items, which will never satisfy both sides, I would suggest focusing on fusion Chinese dim sum instead. We probably wont come back again, but I wish them the best.
Definitely the best morning tea I ve ever had in Toronto! It tastes amazing! All freshly made! ! ! It s not a pre-made dish, it tastes completely different!
Delicious food, really really good. Excellent service.
Despite the high price, the food quality at this restaurant was disappointingly below average. One of the dishes remained undercooked and frozen inside. Despite recooking it, they used the same plate that had been bitten by few of us and served it again on our table. NO other restaurants in Yorkville would do such a thing. It not the same restaurant that it used to be in the past when it was at the Bloor St. location, we will go somewhere else next time in this area with much better quality of food and server at this price point.
The restaurant was disappointing. The food is not bad, but very overpriced and the cutlery and plates are very worn out. The floor in the restaurant is sticky in some places. The waiters behavior was unprofessional. He handed over cutlery and plates and took them away right in front of my face. No friendliness. He didnt pay any attention to what he was asked to do.
One dish forgotten out of 5, a smell in the room, no commercial gesture or apology, in short personally I didnt like it
Very over-priced Chinese cuisine and everything is so so salty! Only the soup corn shrimp is really good
Fantastic authentic cuisine! Would definitely recommend a dine in experience.
The owner is not a good person. The staff are neglected. The prices are a joke and best suited for corporate accounts. They have no soup dumplings and the pan fried dumplings are a failure.
The dim sum was delicious. Service was proper Parking: Underground parking across from the restaurant Food : 5/5 |
Just look at menus it s old and dirty not readable and waiters are not helping. Food is Too expensive and tasteless. Thank you.
I like the place. Food is good. But on Chinese New Year we reserved for 7:30. No seat until 8:10. What s the point of reserving ???
Visited this place late evening, first time ever. Pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food. Best shrimp and lobster sauce in a long time. I would come back for this dish.
Place is amazing.I know it s pricey but we are in york ville! Benny our waiter was also amazing! Food
This was my second time coming here for dimsum. Food was not the most authentic tasting Ive had, but the preparation time was acceptable (within 10 minutes for the first dish). The congee was tasteless and needed salt or needed to cook longer with the century egg so it could get more of its flavour, which is disappointing. In contrast, the stir fried rice cakes were too salty, in which case it might have been better off mixing the two together (meant to be a joke, dont mix them together lol). The other dishes we ordered met expectations but nothing outstanding. Im glad the chicken feet turned out well, however, since it is a staple dish when eating dimsum. The atmosphere was very nice, especially if you have a table next to the window so you can look down at passersby because the restaurant is on the second floor. Though the energy was lacking compared to other dimsum restaurants, it makes up for it by being a bit more peaceful. Of course, you no longer have the traditional experience of waving down the servers pushing the carts (probably ever since COVID happened), but it is arguably more organized. Service was a bit disappointing because I remember being impressed by my first visit a few months ago, but today, it felt like we were largely ignored. Slow to take our order, slow to take away dishes, and even slower to bring the bill even when the traffic was slowing down and there were fewer guests in the restaurant. Overall, I recommend eating here if youre getting together with people you dont often hang out with and want to impress them with your generosity to treat them to slightly overpriced, acceptable tasting dimsum.
This restaurant has very nice decor and ambience. At first, the food seemed promising like the Peking duck wrap and lettuce meat wrap. However, I can see why the reviews on here are only 3.8 stars. The dishes were quite small and for 8 people, I felt like there was only 1 serving per person which is barely enough. We had to ration the food. I came home not feeling full and had to eat snacks (which doesn t usually happen at Chinese restaurants that I go to). But then again, I eat Chinese food mainly in Vancouver where the standard for Chinese food is incomparable to Toronto s and the portions are much bigger. This restaurant is like a pretty person without trying as the decor was nice and there were many people there on Christmas Day, but the food in general was not memorable and the service was super slow and severely lacking. Paying $83 for an 8-course meal was not worth it. The biggest disappointment was the lobster. I cringed when I had my first bite as there was a distinct frozen taste. As someone who is used to eating fresh and live lobster from Vancouver, I can tell you the lobster was lacklustre, very small, had no lobster taste and was flavourless. I told the server (manager?) my feedback about the lobster and he said that many people ordered it. But just because many people order it doesn t mean it s good. I told him that he should take my feedback for next time. This restaurant seems to cater more to western people s taste and isn t the most authentic. I will not be coming back here. It s overpriced for the lack of quality, taste and service.
My family and I used to go to their original location every Saturday morning as our go-to dim sum place. Now, years after they moved to this location, we wanted to come back for a taste of nostalgia for my Mom s birthday, and they definitely delivered! The restaurant is nicely decorated; I missed the large tables with fancy table cloths and Lazy Susans. Their tea was still as refreshing as it was when I used to have it as a kid, and we ordered all of our usual dishes. Their sticky rice, Hargow, Siu Mai, garlic Bok Choy and Sesame Balls are timeless. They were all delicious and were exactly like I remember as a kid. They service was prompt and attentive, and brought over our dishes in a timely manner. I would recommend coming here with friends and family so you can share lots of dishes and plates together! As this is in the heart of Yorkville, the dishes are on the pricy side, but their dim sim still reigns supreme! Vegetarian options: They are some vegetarian options on their menu. Parking: There is a Green P parking garage right across from the restaurant, but it is small, compact and gets very full by 11 AM! It is also quite expensive, being $5 per hour.
The Dynasty experience is still one that Im processing, but Ill put that aside for this: 1. The Food was good, even though we ordered a full duck but barely had up to 70% of the Meat for the 1st & 2nd Courses (maybe because we were a lot of mouths ). 4 Star because, well...felt like something was missing. 2. The Service was confusing. It wasnt anything bad, but we had Waiters who told us something wasnt available, while another said it was. We asked for Pepper in oil, to give some heat to the food, first person brought Sriracha (Sweet). The main Waiter was patient though. 3. Atmosphere/Ambience being in Downtown probably made my expectations higher. Oh! Also, except we was blind, I didnt notice/see a Ramp to enable us use a Baby Stroller. Hmm, weird! Should be more accessible. But maybe its somewhere. All these to say it was a good experience! Will I recommend? Well, you should definitely go at least once to make your own opinions. Mines just, well, based on my experience.... ...and it was a good one. PS - Was majorly distracted, so my picture-game was lacking on the night. Apologies! Haha!
Food was overpriced and you could get something better for half the price in Chinatown. But my main issue was with the waiter, who is infinitely nicer to White patrons and huffy and impatient with Chinese ones. Literal 180 in attitude when dealing with me versus the other tables, which is funny considering the waiter is also Chinese. If you re a Chinese person who for some reason wants to spend $25 on a bowl of below average fried rice, bring your White friends along.
very delicious
Nice environment and extremely good food
While more expensive than Chinatown counterparts, its always clean, high quality food, and in a great neighborhood
The food is pricey, but quality is consistent and seating is well spaced apart.
They have such a premium price but the quality of food is not good. The staff did not even pay attention to us. We had to wait for a long time to get our water. We got there for dinner and we ordered dim sum. They did not bring us the soy sauce and red vinegar until we asked. We had to keep asking for sauces and it was hard to get their attention. It was $10 for 3-4 peaces of dim sum. The price is high but the service and quality of food is not equivalent.
shrimp + scallop fried rice was really good ! a nice selection of seafood dishes and dim sum overall, but all the menu items were a bit on the pricey side
Visited last Saturday, May 06 2023. Theres a lot of people in the restaurant but no waiting in line as they have a huge seating capacity. We also didnt have reservation but they were able to accommodate us. We ordered dimsum, rice, and soup. Every dish is very delicious and you will not run out of options as they have a lot to offer. The place was clean, washroom is clean, staff are very accomodating and they serve your order pretty fast considering they have a lot of customers to attend to. Found a new Chinese restaurant thats very recommendable.
Lived in Hong Kong for 10+ years and the food here is mediocre a best, especially at their prices. There s a huge sense of complacency. Go to Pearl Harbourfront or Dim Sum King instead.
Best Chinese food in the Yorkville area
Service poor food tasty but over priced we were sat in a corner 2hours for 2 slow coarses could of walked out no one came with bill had 3 ask and chase 2 pay
Ordered the Peking duck. Heard it was excellent. It wasn t. 2 courses. In the first the skin wasn t not crispy as is de rigeur for Peking duck. It was soggy. A mortal sin. Phoned the restaurant the next day and left message for manager to let him/her know. Never received a call back.
This is as classy as you can get for Hong Kong/Cantonese fine-dining. No Chinese restaurant in town can match the quality and ambience of this restaurant. Had lobster, beef short ribs, crispy chicken, steamed fish, snow pea tips. Its hard to describe how much detail the chef puts in cooking the food to perfection. For example, the doneness of the beef short ribs is medium done. Never ate short ribs this tender before. Highly recommend this place if you want the best cantonese food in town.
Amazing dumplings. This is our favorite Asian spot in Toronto!
They are back - same old taste!
Great dim sum!
Traditional Chinese food We sat at a window table looking at people walking along Yorkville Ave, really enjoying it. Food
Kid-friendliness: I saw that his name was Ban Lou. He was very polite. He arrived at the restaurant at 11:10 in the morning and he was still working. He saw four elderly people who wanted to come in to drink tea. He put down his work and took us in. It turned out that it was 11:10 in the morning. It started at half past one, but there was no problem with what he said! They asked us to have tea first and then placed the order for snacks. They were very friendly and worthy of praise. We will definitely come back. Thank you for your enthusiasm!
Stopped for lunch today while across the street for work. Quick service, amazing flavours and taste to their food, decent prices and portion sizes. Had left overs to take back to hotel.
Good options and tasty.
4. Chinese restaraunt in the heart of Yorkville. Very big and usually lots of space available (except on Christmas and Christmas Eve). Most of the standard items- bit of a higher price point. Friendly service! Food
Fried octopus legs is a must. Delicious to the last piece.
See photo below. This piece of steel wire was in my soup. Will not be returning.
The food is so-so, the service is so-so, Cantonese-style mapo tofu, boiled fish on the plate (the first time Ive seen it in my life)... the price is generally a bit expensive. In short, its okay to fool Westerners, and the location is good, which is also an advantage.
Worst dim sum place I have ever been to. Waited thirty minutes to have dim sum served. The egg yolk bum is so hard, seems to be left outside for several days.
Food: The buns all taste like frozen ones from Costco. The egg yolk bun is so dry. It tastes like it s been put outside for 5 days. Service: We only ordered 5 dishes and waited 30min for the first dim sum to come. After complaining with the manager, he somehow brought lots of the dishes together. It s like the dishes are ready and they just don t serve it. Service is extremely slow. Vide: super noisy and poor atmosphere. Price: they charge almost twice the price compared to other places.
Service is great.
Food is good. I like the lighting at dinner time, a little darker. Amazing location right on Yorklville. I didnt give more stars because they gave us the bill before we asked for it. We didnt stay for more than one and a half hours and they are not closing yet, plus there were no clients waiting for a table, so we didnt see a rush they had to give us the bill. I might still go there again and hope they wont do that. I like this restaurant.
Peking duck here is great.
The staff were excellent and really went out of their way to be caring.
Vegetarian options: Chinese vegetarian restaurants Planta Toronto Food
This restaurant seems to produce top-quality dim sum, shrimp dumplings, siu mai and rice rolls. Everything else is delicious. The kitchen products are all delicious. I fried a dry-fried beef river that day. Hong Kong cant get enough food. Its not so good. I went to have dinner late at night. They are in Hong Kong. Good product
I don t often review places but can t understand the 1 star reviews and felt it necessary to let people know this place makes high-end dim sum at pretty reasonable prices. It s delicious, light dumplings and great service.
Truly excellent dim sum. high quality seafood flavors and presentation.
Must try dim sum experience in yorkville. Great service, delicious variety of food. Expensive but the quality, service and cleanliness meets the price point. Suitable for lunch meetings, family gatherings, friends catch up or solo dine in.
Made reservations for Peking duck on Chinese New Year days in advance. Restaurant called 5 minutes before our reservation to tell us they ran out duck. They weren t even apologetic or offer an alternative. Thanks for ruining a major Chinese holiday for us.
Horrible service. We reserved a Peking duck a week before, they call us minutes before our reservation to tell us they ran out of duck. Manager was not apologetic and laughed in our face. Would never come back.
Amazing food, great service! Its our family favorite restaurant!
Came here and it was empty which I should have known was a bad sign from the start. The shrimp dumplings had a few shells inside. Service was slow. Stingy on the hot sauce. Rude customer service. The higher prices arent worth it here; better to go to Chinatown for a more authentic experience and better prices to boot. Definitely wont be going back.
Went there the other day and they are still segregating Canadians based on vaccination status. Even after government mandate is gone. My group of family and friends will no longer give them our business.
Lazy staffs. You will see some staff sleeping on the table beside you. I found this really weird. People work in the hole in the wall restaurant will know not to do this. Other staff will bunch up around counter and have a good time among themselves and dont want to help customers. Overall, the experience was dirty and not want to return to this place.
Love this place excellent Dim Sum and service
Its been 3 years since last visit. I will visit later 2022!!!
Went for early dimsum. Excellent food and service.
Beautiful interior, delicious food, excellent service! Amazing dining experience. Try one of the teas!
Not Recommended. Do not waste your time especially your money to a place like this. The staffs were terribly rude. Who the heck will grab my visa card when Im still checking the bills and tap my card. What a nightmare and disaster experience. Never will eat and recommend anybody to eat here. I WARN YOU, DON T EVER MAKE A MISTAKE NEITHER TO TRY.
Delicious chinese food.
We are back again... Still nice resto to visit in Bloor
We called 30 minutes ahead if we could come. When we got here, the rude hostess said reservations only.
Very good food and efficient staff.
Food is overpriced and low quality. The lobster only tasted fried sauce coated. Steamed fish was tasteless and not fresh at all. Garlic pork ribs were over fried, but it s the best out of the three dishes with meat. Price was over $200 for the four dishes, two desserts, and two bottle of sparkling water. Customer service is okay. The dining environment especially the glasses and utensils really need more cleaning.
This place has a quite spectacular, Westernized setting, with great lighting and details on the tablecloths that significantly differentiate it from any other Chinese restaurant. The dishes are somewhat meager for the prices they charge, our sesame chicken and orange duck cost 19 and 21 CAD, but they were very good. The prices of the wines are impossible, but they bring jugs of water to alleviate the desire.
Dim Sum was creative and tasty. Portions were adequate. Prices reflect the high rent neighbourhood. It s better than ordinary. Service was fine. They kept our water glasses full.
First and last time coming here. Premium prices for sub adequate quality, and a comically rude and inattentive staff. Anything on Spadina is is a better bet than Dynasty .
Came here during weekday lunch hours and ordered 4 dim sum items and a Cantonese noodle. The meats used in the Cantonese noodle tasted off, two of the dim sum items were spoiled (especially the shrimp har gao). Our server apologized and took back the dish so fast and made a comment oh its bad! that we thought was weird.. almost like he knew? He then recommended the mix seafood dumplings, when it arrived it was also spoiled... I expected alot more for a dim sum place at this price point in Yorkville, would never come back.
I find it hard to comprehend 1 star reviews. That has to be a truly horrific experience. Yet several people have given this restaurant that very rating. I wouldnt trust them. Not when other people have given 3+ stars. We ordered coconut curry prawns to go with Singapore Vermicelli noodles and a starter of BBQ items: beef ribs, duck and pork. Everything was quite good and was bold enough with the spices to have some kick and heat. Staff were attentive and never rude. Clearly they make BBQ pork/beef ribs and duck daily in order to offer this as a starter or source it daily from a Chinese BBQ place - either way impressive since it was fresh and who knows how often it is ordered. Rent alone and the long durability of this establishment dictates they must be doing something right. I see people complaining about costs. Ya know what if you cant afford it, dont eat there. The prices are printed right on the menu, not a random surprise at the end of the meal. Cook and wait staff need to be paid a living wage in Toronto, this aint early 20th century Chinatown where you could exploit cheap labor.
One of the best meals I ve had in a long time when it comes to authentic Chinese cuisine. You just need to know what to order. Great meeting Ivan as well.
Be warned about the overpriced, laughably small-sized dumplings.
Very good dimsum and dishes...
Honestly it didnt excite me
A great variety of yummy dim sum. Location is good in Yorkdale downtown.
Other reviewers are complaining about prices, but what do you really expect in Yorkville?? If you dont care about ambiance, freshness or service, then go eat in Chinatown. Asian Legend, for example, is pretty dumpy and crowded. Dynasty has a fabulous location, huge menu, attentive staff and downright delicious dishes! Faves include Peking duck, Chinese broccoli with garlic, steamed spare ribs in black bean sauce. I haven t found anywhere else in downtown that can pull off these dishes. In Richmond Hill maybe, but not downtown.
Very slow for uber delivery every time
4.0/5 The dim sum is good! It s a quiet and clean space with attentive service. We ordered the 1. Har Gow, 2. Shumai, 3. Shrimp rice roll, 3. Pork spare ribs in black bean sauce, and 4. Cantonese Chow Mein. The quality is good. Better than Rol San or some of the other places in town. Pricey (around $9-12 per dim sum dish) but good for when we don t want to drive out of the city to find some quality dim sum!
Great spot to have dinner
Love the service and upscale decor here. We went for their dim sum, of which they have over 50 selections. As usual, the welcome was gracious and the patio was a perfect choice on such a warm and sunny day. The food was well-prepared and tasty. A shout-out for the octopus fingers. Lots of sauces available to pack in the flavour. Some of the dishes were not as unctuous as what we experience in Chinatown, however by the same token, not as greasy. Perhaps its the fat that adds extra flavour? A great lunch spot if youre in Yorkville.
Food was really good. Service was fast and friendly.
Food was ok although its overpriced. The service was really POOR and Rude. the waiter has his own issues toward female customer with children.
Used to eat here pre-pandemic was delighted to come back.
Worst service I entered the restaurant employees sleeping at the tables 2 dishes 65.00 took the chopsticks from the table because I didnt see any in the bag I was yelled at and almost stripped searched!!!!!!!
The food is excellent and service likewise is very good, polite and not fussy. Ive never been hurried or felt it was so busy they needed the table. Theres lots of choice in Yorkville and I choose Dynasty often. Vegetarian options: Everyone has a vegan friend now, and they made a quick fix here and suggestion there, and lunch was amazing for both of us. Bay St types, movie types, big groups, solos and the atmosphere works. Go enjoy, relax and dine. Dietary restrictions: I want paying attention something about Buda and choices ... Dont care, my friend was happy.
Top class feast to celebrate a graduation. Couldnt ask for a better experience. Food was delicious, with subtle flavours and made with very high quality ingredients. Service was impeccable. The variety of dishes over the course of the meal was superb, including the yummy mango and yogurt dessert . We went on a non-busy weeknight.
Horrible cold food
We ordered the Dinner A for two persons delivered to our home. I was very disappointed. The Shrimp with vegetables and the sweet and sour chicken were FAIR. The fried rice was HORRIBLE. It tasted like it was left over from yesterday. The almond cookie was a simple fortune cookie. Certainly not worth the $70.00 plus price tag.
The manager just drove to my home in sub zero temperatures because my take out order was missing the lettuce for the lettuce wraps. What unexpected, amazing service. I cannot believe what committed staff they have. Also the food is great. Skip the cheapie restaurants and just eat here. People think Chinese food should be cheap but Dynasty is an upscale restaurant that never disappoints. It actually kind of pisses me off that people complain about the price because they re clearly comparing it to the fast and dirty restaurants in Chinatown (which is its own dining experience). I ve been going there for years and it s consistent. It doesn t skimp on ingredients - I never get tough snow pea leaves even when they re not in-season. And their congee is delicate and never over-salted. Maybe people who aren t from the Cantonese culture don t notice these things, which is why they are surprised at the prices but if you care about properly crafted Cantonese dishes, this is one of the only places downtown to go. And today they bent over backwards to make our meal the best. PS. Some reviewers complain the food lacks flavour. They probably don t like Cantonese food. Because this type of cuisine isn t heavy on spices, it s the freshness of ingredients that are supposed to shine without overpowering flavourings to get in the way. That s why I appreciate the tender pea sprouts and clean dumplings. You know when a har gow isn t fresh and it s never at Dynasty.
Great!
Cantonese taste and top-notch dim sum.
Probably the worst Chinese food takeout Ive had in the last 10 years. Lacked flavour, skimpy on the ingredients, sloppy, and didnt seem fresh.
Expensive and tasteless The most expensive tea restaurant in Toronto, the quality can t keep up with the price
This is one of my favorite morning tea shops in Toronto! ! The XO sauce carrot cake in this store is the best carrot cake I have ever tasted in Toronto; I also highly recommend their steamed chicken feet and braised duck tongue (but the duck tongue is no longer available during the epidemic ). Songboxuan is not a very traditional type of tea. They have improved the taste on the basis of tradition, making it more suitable for todays peoples tastes.
Unfortunately the food is low quality served on paper plates . Not what one would expect in Yorkville
Food is overprice . Worst service I have ever had 1. We have a group of 8 people and booked 2 tables side by side. But when we arrived on time, our tables were given to other groups and we had to sit separately 2. Server was extremely rude and impatient, I was telling the server the dish number on menu and the server almost yelled at me saying JUST TELL ME THE NAME (dish name) 3. We finished earlier than the other table (cuz we sit separately) and server kicked us out after paying the bill because there were people waiting for seats. We ended up standing in rain and waiting our friends to finish.
delicious dim sum.
Worst place for dim sum. Food is not cooked through and some taste out of date. Food is over price, almost double price of other dium Sum Restaurant. DON T COME HERE!!! Save your money on other places!!!
Check their shrimps if they were cleaned properly. Dont order the lotus wrapped rice with meat. The worst lotus wrapped rice Ive ever tasted. If you like dim sum dont go to this place. Research which restaurant serves best.
Avoid there is cockroaches at this place the food tastes funny I was looking at the floor I seen 2 cockroaches scurry by I was disgusted ....I walked out please avoid at all cost Im reporting this place to health board asap
Worst food and soooo damn expensive. I ordered fried chicken dumplings, they gave me steamed dumplings . There were just 3 pieces and they charged 10.5$ for such pathetic food.
Excellent for dimsum, unfortunately they have reduced their offering of vegetarian dimsum from 8 to 3 items. Veg steamed dumplings Mushroom dumpling Tofu vegetarian bean curd roll All the above tasted amazing and were full of flavour. It is my favourite dimsum place in Toronto although i wish they had more vegetarian choices.
Good to be back. Thank you.
Super fresh & tasty. Great to sit outside on the patio.
Easily one of the best Chinese cuisine in Toronto.
Amazing restaurant, it is really traditionally Chinese, just how I like it. They also offer fortune cookies after you finish dining.
Nice variety and great service
this place sucks. Food is bellow average. Would not go there again.
Fantastic food as always and helpful staff.
Fantastic steamed BBQ pork buns!!! Great martini done just right. A must for dim sum.
Not recommended! I never ever go there again! It was my first and last time to go there. Such a wasting money for Overpriced food with very low quality! Octopus was greasy and overcooked, dumplings were boring! Duck tongue was served cold and it tasted like chewing rubbers ! Waiters/ waitresses could barely speak English. They threw dishes on the table with No respect for customers ! Also, our next table found cockroach on their table. Btw, they didnt check our vaccine certifications.
I often came here with my friends a few years ago, and I have always had a good impression of Songboxuan. Today, the food has become expensive and ordinary. An ordinary dim sum costs about $9, but the taste is no longer comparable to many. Like other morning tea shops, the service is also very slow, very disappointing
mediocre price, food quality below average. will not come back again.
Worst experience. Had to wait so long.lack of Staffs
Fantastic food. Service not as good as food
Sat for 20 minutes, no service. Left and nobody even asked.
bad
Great dim sum and Chinese food.
An excellent experience downtown - as close to uptown Dim.Sum as you can get, but with a bit of a steeper price tag. I suppose thats expected in Yorkville. The XO Beef noodles are awesome - tender and chewy and rich in flavour. The pan fried dumplings were just okay, but the service was top end.
Oh my god, it tastes so bad that I cry! ! It s been years since I ve eaten something so disgusting, and I ate it when I was very hungry. I actually cried. The picture below shows pot stickers and quicksand buns, are you kidding me? ? Its not as delicious as the fast food bought in the supermarket. None of the four things I ordered were delicious, and the porridge was extremely salty. It tastes terrible in all aspects, and I can t fault it at all. I m also drunk!
Very good dim sum in Yorkville. Now into Stage 3 of COVID, the menu is mostly back to its previous offering. Sesame shrimp roll, vegetarian rice crepes (Im pescetarian) and snow pea leaves are personal favourites. The grouper and purple turnip dishes well hopefully return. Service is very friendly and accommodating. We go with young children but are in the minority.
Food isnt bad, but its nothing exciting either. Given tge high prices, the value isnt there. The service is also not great. We wont be coming back anytime soon.
Don t order the Peking duck here! Don t try it! We ordered half duck for take out and that s what we got, about 150 grams of meet. If it was half duck , the duck must die of starvation. It s not only too less, but tasted terrible. We called the place and they promised to refund $20 thru our credit card (the dish was $49, which was ridiculous expensive with its quality), but we never received the fund since they didn t know how to operate the POS. Besides the duck, the rest of dishes didn t taste well neither. Overall, I won t be back to this place again.
Wow!!! I love this place. I went there with friends from work to celebrate Thanksgiving. We had to seat outside due to the covid 19 restrictions but the patio was heated so we didnt feel the cold that much. We ordered the dim sum and there was so much to each. Each meal was so tasty. There was this custard baos that were delightful to eat. The staff were so nice to us as well considering the language barrier. Definitely, I would come back to this place. I recommend this place to anyone in Downtown Toronto who wants a high quality Chinese food.
My go to dim sum brunch place due to close proximity to my condo. Staff were very attentive however dinner service was slow and quality not as good as breakfast/bunch.
Were never disappointed when we come here. In fact, we love it so much that we actually had our wedding rehearsal dinner here to treat our friends and family to some different Chinese menu items that they may never otherwise have been able to try. Its a nice clean restaurant with delicious food.
