Barbecued duck hangs in the window of this lively Chinese eatery known for its big bowls of soup.
The dimsum and noodles are good. Service was just okie. The price is reasonable. But I would come back, just for the good food, quick bite, and leave.
A lot of options, food was ok, i got the beef flank noodle soup The staff is ridiculously rude, the waitress basically kicked us out right after we finished Cash only, they have an atm that charges $4… lol Oh and don't you dare to even think about not tipping 😂 as if you have a choice
Taste: From the dryness of the BBQ Pork and the staleness of the Soy Sauce Chicken, I’m guessing they are leftover from yesterday, for the best scenario. Portion: tiny little, won’t be enough to feed a grown man. Price: 18 for one lunch meal with no soup or drink. Service: there is none. Also I’ve noticed there is no HST account number on the receipt. CRA if you see this you know what to do. They are very sneaky, always leftovers for takeout and delivery.
Overall food was amazing, one of my favourite wonton noodle soups in the city. Wontons are combination of shrimp and pork - shrimp bouncy and fresh with well seasoned pork. Broth is clear and has a refined taste to it, no lingering aftertaste and has a clean subtle taste. Pork buns moist and juicy. Veggie spring rolls were okay, not amazing There are a lot of comments on service - when I arrived I was given a menu and pencil/paper to write down the corresponding items I would like to order. Prompt and efficient, my waitress was kind and nice. No issues on my end - if you’re offended by this method of ordering then maybe it will put you off, but the waitress answered any questions I had and service was prompt and pleasant
Well known and comfortable Chinese bbq restaurant that's been a staple in China town. The servings aren't as big as some other nearby establishments but it comes out fast and hot. Taste wise is all very good and will your standards for the area.
Food: 4 Stars Service: 2 Stars Ambience: 2 Stars Value: 5 Stars Overall: 3.25 Stars King's Noodle Restaurant offers an enticing array of food selections that can easily draw anyone in. The BBQ pork rice rolls and dried shrimp rice rolls were standout dishes, bursting with flavour and expertly prepared. The menu is extensive, with many other delicious options that cater to various tastes. The prices are very reasonable, making it an affordable dining choice, and the portion sizes are generous, ensuring you get good value for your money. However, the dining experience was severely let down by the service. Despite the delicious food, the service was nearly non-existent. It took considerable effort to get the attention of the staff, even for basic requests like placing our order or getting water or napkins. This lack of attentiveness was particularly disappointing as it created a feeling of being neglected throughout the meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant is decent. We visited for a routine lunch, with standard expectations for service, but the experience fell short. It's a shame because the quality of the food deserves better service to complement it. In conclusion, while King's Noodle Restaurant excels in offering tasty dishes at great prices, the poor service significantly detracts from the overall dining experience. If they can improve in this area, it would greatly enhance the overall experience and make it a more enjoyable place to dine. kellychan360
Don’t waste your money here. Just ordered delivery food, $22 for sliced chicken rice, where the portion of chicken was so small that I couldn’t eat even tasted, pan fried beef was super oily and saggy, even the Diet Coke didn’t have gas. Let’s not even talk about the portions of the beef Chinese broccoli for $27. Just a rob!!!
I have a good experience every time here with the BBQ Duck with Wonton Noodles soup. Amazing taste of duck, the atmosphere are a little quite for lunch cause but I love it. I’ve been here 6 years ago and still come here until now. So tasty noodles!!
Food
Doesnt give you a receipt, and charge you taxes, how come? The food is okay... But not delicious...
Fried noodles with tofu and pork belly, Pretty good Beef brisket rice, very bad, mostly tough enough to have no friends Fried twice, average, not even a bit of fried chicken is crispy.
I loved my beef noodle soup. Cash only, so come prepared!
They have great food specially, the hot and sour soup
The food at this place was wonderful because my sister and I ordered seafood noodle soup, roast port, BBQ duck, and many more. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was noisy during dining hours. Dietary restrictions: If people have dietary restrictions need to tell the waiter before ordering. Kid-friendliness: This place is kid friendly because families can take kids here.
I didnt want to tip because of the bad service here. But already the tip was forced into the bill, and this place only made me pay in cash. Is this legal?
Online website prices are incorrect, what was supposed to be 60$ was instead 110$. Was not told this on the phone (they told me later the owner forgot the password to login to the website, this is false advertising), and also was not told about that they only accept cash and e-transfer, no cards at all. They said its a common issue, but you would think they would tell you this on the phone before hand. Food was okay, but potions were not that big compared to other places Ive visited. Overall I would not come back until they fix their advertising, having you online menu be fully wrong is deceptive and puts a bad taste in your mouth when you find out they know, and are not trying to fix it at all.
Stop by in the morning, get something to eat, I told the lady about my red meat allergy, she patiently explained to me what contains in their noodle soup, I had good experience, will come again.
Very small amount for price for BBQ meat combo and vegetable dishes - highway robbery! Only the Singapore noodles was the usual amount you get for any order from a Chinese restaurant. It was very disappointing and we won t be ordering from them again.
THIS PLACE WENT DOWN SO MUCH. IT S NOT WORTH A DOLLAR ANYMORE.
This used to be my favourite restaurant in China Town and why I ventured there but it has gone down hill considerably. In the past on a Saturday at 5:30pm Id be lucky to not have to wait an hour for a seat but I had my choice of seats as it was barely occupied, The food was OK but was not as flavourful as past visits, the restaurant smelled of dirty cooking oil, as always with the exception of on waitress they were cold and rude ... Im very sad to make this report as I noted this was my favourite but I will look for a different spot next time
Best wonton soup in the solar system!
Soy chicken rice was great! That ginger scallion sauce was to die for.
Update for 2024 Aug. They take cash only, literally no card what so ever. They have an ATM inside for which the owner charges $1.75 for every cash withdrawal.
Best BBQ duck in Chinatown! Huge menu, food is so fresh and very fast. Bring cash, cash only for payment :)
Best place for a quick bite. Clean, tasty and great price.
I normally order curry chicken from Chinese takeouts. Ordered the same and was disappointing. It was more like an over cooked potato curry. The potato was so over cooked that it melted and the curry. The now thick potato flakes with curry was hard to eat so had to discard. I had to hunt for chicken pieces within the curry, terrible. Try some other Chinese restaurants nearby. Will never order from here.
I have been going to King noodle for 34 years, and today was the first time I had a bad experience. The food was not fresh and we were missing cutlery, napkins, and sauces. We went at lunch time. I considered this restaurant to be my most favourite on the planet but unfortunately it took this bad experience to drop that down. I might try it again someday and I hope they improve and be like how they used to be -- fast, fresh, affordable, and very tasty.
A Toronto Chinese restaurant staple. BBQ Duck!
Ive been eating here since the 1980s. I havent been here since 2018 and time surely did not wait for me. Portions today are smaller and more expensive than they were a decade ago. I admit it has affected every restaurant. What I didnt expect was the change in the quality of their food. I find it lacking in flavor. Maybe they changed it to appeal to customers that wanted healthier food. I miss that food. I remember seeing Sur Sur Lee eating and wondering if he would still make a visit.
My wife and I have been here many times. It was like a tradition, despite the mediocre food and poor service. Not only do you pay cash and they add a 13% tax, today they added a 10% service charge to the bill without warning, even though it wasnt there before. I will never come here again.
We enjoyed lunch at this place. The meal was very delicious, and the restaurant was very clean. We felt the quality of the food was good. I wouldn t say it s overpriced as some reviews suggest; it s reasonable. If you find this place expensive, I suggest you leave Canada. As you have to understand rent and taxes are high these days. The portions are large, and we took half of it home. Thank you!
I have fond memories from years ago of delicious and reasonably priced meals at Kings Noodle, however they are now a shadow of their former self. Its my first time back in many years and its sad how far it has fallen. Our meal was so unsatisfying and poor value and we wont be going back. When we walked in at 7:30pm on a Thursday evening, there were only a few tables occupied. That was the first red flag and honestly I wish we turned around and left. The food was barely passable unfortunately, though portion sizes were okay. We had BBQ duck with rice and brisket with rice, and the rice was only lukewarm (a cardinal sin for Chinese food), while the meat was too salty. Our noodle dishes were also lacklustre. To make it worse, the prices were unreasonably high (i.e. you can get better food for less in the neighbourhood), they charged more for a beer than stated on the menu, and they added a tip on the bill that was really hard to read (as others have attested to). When asked about it, I was told they tack on a tip for bills over $50 because a lot of large tables dont leave a tip. We would have tipped anyway, but we didnt like the questionable math.
Go here for there Chinese BBQ, their roasted pork is out of this world. Portion size is a bit small and a bit on pricy side. But im here to rate the food 5/5
Really disappointed with my Skipthedishes order from Kings Noodle 296 Spadina Ave. Ordered BOGO offer for General Tsos Chicken. Assumed the dish would be normal-sized. Instead the 2 containers I received were actually half the size of normal dishes. Basically Dim Sum King BOGO =one dish divided by 2 and put in small containers for $27. Like ordering a 2 mini sausage breakfast and instead getting a single mini-sizzler cut in 2. Disingenuous and no deal here.
I recently had an appalling dining experience at this restaurant that exhibited typical racism against Asians -their own race. From the moment I sat down, it was clear the service would be subpar, but I was not prepared for the extent of the horror that awaited me. The utensils, which are supposed to be clean, arrived with wet rice from previous customers clinging to them. This was not only unhygienic but also deeply disrespectful. The waitresss attitude was atrocious too; she seemed to act as though serving us was a massive inconvenience though we never ask anything beyond her pay grade. At one point, she even dipped her finger into my sister s wonton soup while looked at me with such disdain, as if I owed her a hundred bucks. This was, without a doubt, a nightmare of a dining experience. The combination of poor hygiene and overtly hostile service made it an unforgettable and queasy meal, although the food is ok.
No discount for cash and forced tips at 12%
1) Pricing is erratic: $10 for beef brisket noodles in soup, but $18 with beef tendon added. In Vancouver and Hong Kong we never see this huge price differential; 2) a tip of ? % is automatically added. So check your bill carefully before paying and avoid double-tipping. This is nowhere mentioned on their menu. This is very bad practice on their part; 3) Food: Wonton is so inferior - the shrimp is nearly non-existent and the feel of the very small wontons is bland and coarse. The other food we ordered are acceptable or better than average, although the price of the beef with broccoli is pretty expensive; 4) Toilets: One urinal is clogged and not draining; the toilet has a lot of graffiti that is not properly removed; 5) Conclusion: You can find better restaurants uptown or probably anywhere else. Wheelchair accessibility: The toilets are down a flight of stairs in the basement level
If you choose to eat there I would suggest you be careful with your bill, especially if they suggest you to pay cash. They round up my take out bill and when I point out that they are short-changing me. They came up with all sorts of lame excuses, such as sauce and boxes are supposed to cost extra. Happened to the customer in front of me as well.
Fried rice was the best thing on the plate. Super flavorful to look so plain. Duck was cool but nothing to write home about. Needed soy or bbq for flavor. It just lacked salt really. Would go back for the rice alone. Next time I ll try the pork.
Tasty authentic Chinese cuisine, huge variety of options, both vegetarian and with meat: soups, dumplings, pan fried dishes, etc. Weve had lots of chinese in many different restaurants and this is definitely high up in the top three :)
i love barbeq
Unfortunately, after giving this place multiple chances, I cannot recommend this place. Each time Ive come, I am given off cuts of meat. For example when ordering the braised beef noodle Most of it was the membrane, and a small portion of meet--I must also note that this is not the lunch special item, but the full-price order. I was very disappointed having paid $18 for just scraps of meat. Additionally, while I dont have an issue with MSG use in general, I feel that it is often overused. Im willing to give them a try again in the future and hopefully the quality gets better.
Everything that could go wrong with this $17 bowl of noodle went wrong. Bak Choy is undercooked and taste like grass, the soup base is full of MSG and tasteless, the wonton has thick skin and the shrimp/meat inside has no freshness at all. The tribe is the best (least bad) part of the noodle, but you could taste the chemicals used to soften the texture. The noodle itself doesn t have good texture too. One could easily get a decent bowl of ramen at $17. And I believe there are some decent Chinese food around as well. Please don t let this place ruin Chinese food for you.
We bought Bbq pork and duck there. Foods are really salty and too much fat.
Omg I m sooo disappointed that my childhood favorite has deteriorated to this. They are so expensive compared to their competitors. Most importantly, the food is not good anymore! They have taken their loyal customers for granted. Sadly, this will be the last time I m back. Edit: I went back twice before posting this because part of me wanted to think they had an off day. The last visit ended up with me not finishing their food. I m so disappointed. I hope they get better soon, but I wouldn t know since this will be my last visit.
Very good, note payment only in cash or e-transfer but if you need to withdraw, an ATM is right next door Fried noodles with crunchy spinach and BBQ pork, great with ginger lemonade
BBQ duck Egg noodle soup was very flavourful, nice quick lunch meal for $13. No frills asian restaurant where you just write your order on a slip of paper. Bring cash! Food : 5/5 | Service
Very tasty Peking duck. I took half of it with me and enjoyed it at home. Small restaurant, nice staff. They gave me free water.
They provide exceptional service while dining in. Delicious food. Great price
My evaluation is please trust other people s evaluations
I went to this place the other day. They enforce 10% tip without telling you and write on the bill super messy to confuse you. If we hadn t checked we would be adding an extra 10 percent tip. There was no exceptional service so 10% is generous. If you go please check your bill. I won t be coming again.
Meh. It was alright. Ordered the bbq duck and pork and some bbq steam buns. Noodles had good texture but not a lot of flavor.
We go there almost every weekend. Always get treated really well. Ordered the rice rapped donut and seafood congee.
Char Siu fried noodles with vegetables were an immense disappointment. Portions were generous, but thats about the extent of my praise. Noodles were a dense disc, with the edges crunchy due to not being prepared in the broth. The broth/sauce was flavorless. The pork dumplings were greasy. Service was indifferent at best. We were given forks and spoons instead of chopsticks and were not provided with soy sauce and chili oil until we requested it, unlike the tables around us who received them with their food. Incredibly disappointing as I had a friend who recommended their char siu, and I was excited to find a place in Canada that offered it. Will not be returning.
scam, such a small plate for 20 dollars
Great diner. Delicious Peking duck. Everything is fresh. They work even on weekdays, unlike their neighbors. I recommend ordering one dish for 2 people, because... The portions are quite large. The average price of one dish is 15 CAD. PAYMENT! - only cache. If you decide to place a large order, be sure to keep an eye on the final receipt. They tried to deceive us for as much as $20!, with a total order amount of $52. This fact was very upsetting
The food was pretty good, the roast pork was incredible but unfortunately a cockroach crawled across the wall and down and almost on to me. There were also lots of gnats/fruit flies.
Delicious Delicious Only Good price good taste
wonton soup for the post-modern soul
BE WARE! The food is mediocre, but what sucks is its cash only, but they charge 15% (not 13%) tax + 20% tip already on the bill. They write up the bill in a way to confuse customers, but when you pay attention youll see the 15% tax on the subtotal, then the added 20% tip. Whats worse is if you leave extra cash for the tip, they dont mention the already added 20%. This is a form of scam and taking advantage of tourist visiting downtown Toronto!
TASTY!!!!! Be sure to stop by - the duck is the bomb!
CLOSED APRIL 2 TO APRIL 17, 2024. IT SAYS OPEN APRIL 18, 2024
The price does not match the size, microwaved food and conge queen is a better alternative
We ordered Peking duck and spaghetti with shrimp. One portion is enough for two people.
Not really good service. What was/is worse - the noodles I ordered (almost C$20.00) was absolutely tasteless - not even a touch of salt! Roast duckling - C$40.00 for one half. I originally ordered; however, when I saw how small it was, I changed my mind. Disappointed. This restaurant has been in Chinatown for years.
Hoooooolala.. I wanted to go there, the group that accompanied me wasnt hungry.. I missed my chance. Seeing this window while passing on the sidewalk, of course it makes you hungry... just look at my photo again, I have excess saliva in my mouth! Well... its only a matter of time, one day Ill try their bbq duck!
They do not accept credit cards. There is only a small sign at the cash register that tells you they only accept cash. They will bad mouth you in Cantonese for not knowing this in advance.
I ordered the BBQ Duck Egg Noodle Soup (1st pic) for $13.50 (incl tax + tip). Noodles were great, the duck was juicy and flavourful, and THE SOUP... SO GOOD. The portion was okay for this bowl specifically, not as big as other noodle shops, but enough for me as Im a small person. If you eat a lot, Id recommend getting the bowls that are priced around $17-19 (the one in the 2nd pic with veggie in it, theyre much bigger).
The best food!
This is a restaurant that has been here forever. The dining room is quite small and you may share a larger table with strangers, however, despite this the food is amazing. The food portions are quite large and are great for a few people if ordering 2-3 dishes. The flavour and quality of the food is delicious. Food is made fresh and very quick. Most individuals come for a huge bowl of soup. Yummy!!! Parking: Very busy area... Take the transit to get here
Pay attention to the bill - The tips are already included in the bill regardless of the quality of the service provided.
This place is nostalgia to the core. They have been a staple in the Chinatown area since I was a kid. Food is always amazing. My favourite Chinese food place to eat when Im in the area. Highly recommend the roast pork. Parking: It is a cash only business. ATM on site. Scotia Bank is nearby
Tried the bbq duck and bbq pork. Both were amazing. Sides also delicious.
Portions have shrunk since I last went, but the food is still good.
The price and portion was reasonable, them should improve the service.
Amazing bbq pork and roast duck
Disappointing. Food has gone downhill and overly expensive. Bill was about $60 but after taxes and an automatic service charge comes to about $90 with a hand written receipt that is in Chinese. After asking what these extra charges were, I thought we ordered extra items that were charged - they said I had to pay for service & tip. I always tip at restaurants but never did someone told me I was cheap for asking what was on the bill when Im not chinese and cannot read chinese. Restaurant is dark and cold. Staff service is questionable. Cash lady is rude. Not recommended.
The food is pricey and there is only a little meat on the top of the rice! And the service is terrible, the waiter is rude and they accept cash only. And the waiter is asking for tips??
It was tasty, but the waiters were moving a little fast and there was a strange stench. Also keep in mind they only take cash. Maybe it was like that cause it s Christmas, but I m still only giving it 3/5 Kid-friendliness: It definitely feels kid friendly. I only say that because it reminds me of a domestic airport food court in the Philippines, which had a lot of kids.
Noodle in the soup wasn t really my style. Also, when we sat down and asked for iced water, server went to get the water for us but made fun of iced water by saying it in weird tone to the other staff. I m guessing iced water is funny thing to order in the restaurant??
The service is fast, the food is amazing.
The food here is good. Back in the day it was amazing but the world has moved on and there are more interesting and better places to eat in the area. But if you re craving for a good bowl of wonton noodles and not dropping a lot of cash this hits the spot.
Delicious food, you HAVE to try #98!
Good service and good prices. Impeccable hygiene.
Two words to describe Kings Noodle - delicious & over-priced. Its the best roasted pork Ive had in all of GTA but its almost twice the average price. The pork fat melts in your mouth. Duck is full flavored. The meats are over seasoned which suits a western palette. I would only go here for the Chinese BBQ as the other canton dishes are average. Service is your typical Chinese restaurant style. Hidden gratuity charge of (10 5%) on the bill which was a turn off. See photo and see if you can spot the sly charge Server left the bill on the table without saying a word. Gratuity charge not mentioned on menu Below the amount my table wouldve tipped but this practice is predatory; preying on you double tipping. For that reason, I will never dine in here again. I support local businesses that operate an honest business. Overall, food is 4.5/5 but the experience was overshadowed by deception.
I have been eating at Kings for over 30 years. It was my go to place for top quality Cantonese food. Due to covid, I have not been able to get there until recently. In the past, it was always busy with a short wait for a table. The food was amazing and portions on the generous side. Having not dined at Kings in three years, I was looking forward to a big bowl of BBQ pork noodle soup. I was served a small bowl ( before you could order small or large) of lukewarm soup, barely cooked noodles and tough pork. Other dishes were equally disappointing. I should have realized something was off with the food because of the 8 tables that were occupied, there was only 2 Chinese people eating. I dont think we will return.
Insanely good roast duck and roast pork (the one with crispy skin). My family used to eat this at least twice a week back in NYC so I had to look for some in TO. I was intimidated to order at first my Cantonese is broken (I m ABC), but luckily they speak English. I ordered half a roast duck, and a pound of roast pork to go. For the duck, the skin was nice and crisp and the meat was super tender and fatty - it was perfect. I liked the roast pork even more though. The skin was crunchy and the pork just melted in my mouth. I am definitely coming back for more! Prices are actually pretty reasonable (but I m comparing to NYC prices, taking into account the conversion rate as well).
The staff here are so wonderful and the food is always so delicious.
Only wish I lived closer.
Start to be expensive for a wonton middle soup 10$ plus tip I go there every time I am the neberhood for the wonton noudle the best
The bbq pork and chicken noodle soup was great. Price is a little on the high side, overall satisfactory.
Service very fast Food tasty Wonton has shrimp and pork Food : 5/5
Duck was delicious as expected, and the prawns were nice too. Wonton noodle soup tasted very strange, the broth was bland and bitter. The wontons themselves were nice though. We received a hugely questionable handwritten bill though. It was literally just some numbers written on a piece of paper with no mention of what items or charges any of these numbers corresponded to. Overall total seemed a lot higher than it should have been for the items we ordered. We couldnt help but feel they tried to take advantage of us because we had had a few beers.
I this place great pork duck and chicken
I have never eaten such dry barbecued pork and fried chicken in this world. Barbecue pork side + chicken wing tip + chicken mallet, thank you so much Even eating makes me go crazy 19 Mosquito Soup You shouldnt mess with him...
Always good food and quick service. Prices have ramped up but thats the food industry these days.
Food costs had gone up but quality went down. A rice dish with BBQ pork and duck came barely warm. Bought 5 dishes, total came to around 57$ w/ tax. Somehow bill went up another 15% without being told what this extra charge was. When confronted they said tip was automatically calculated and added onto your bill and continued to deflect and said we didnt have to pay it. Didnt want to take responsibility for their actions. Not a fan of automatically assuming tip %s and tacking it onto our bill. Shady practices with bad handwritten receipts and little to zero explanations trying to take advantage of customers to pay without looking over their receipt.
Had the meat combo. The BBQ pork was great but the roasted duck was not. Felt a bit cheated with the prices as they include gratuity in addition to the menu price on the bill, and do not accept any debit or credit cards. But that s okay, they have an ATM handy at the restaurant that charges $3.50 for a service charge set by the owner (it even says exactly so on the ATM). Service is also terrible. Appears to be family run and they don t bother too much about customer service (the daughter was on her iPad and just couldn t care).
Superb dim sum. Beef flank soup is perfect for a winter day. Fried turnips are heaven.
I am glad I was able to come and had the chance to try their foods for few times during my stay in TO. My favorite was grilled duck over rice s, dim sums, gyoza was amazing and their congee was lovely too, price is so so but service is a bit straightforward they accept cash and cards, lunch time in the weekend can be very busy.
Great
Great Cantonese food, fast service. Loved the soy sauce chicken and roast duck. Might seem a bit pricey though.
Amazing crispy pork belly.
The noodles needed to be a little hotter. But the flavor is very rich
This place is not as good as before. I used to go there all the time between 1990-2015. But I will never buy from them again. Overpriced and ripoff!!! I went to get a small size of roast pork on rice, with tax is $11.30 but only a few piece of meat and cut me the bad part so thats why the roast pork is so salty and the skin is not crunchy, also not even has vegetable to go with the rice. I went to other Chinese BBQ places for $10 they offer bigger size with more meat and has veggie as side. Very disappointed about this place!
Great spring rolls and noodles. BBQ items were flavourful.
Highly not recommended, the taste is just under average. That s not how it tastes like .
The food is great. The service was awful: Servers didn t offer water or other drinks, servers didn t bring dipping sauce for dumplings, and they added an automatic tip on our bill for a table of two guests. I won t be going back here; servers make guests feel unwelcome and unappreciated.
The first time eating in this restaurant was in the 1980s. The renovation is totally different now. The food quality is fine. BBQ food like the roast pork is good. It is getting quite pricey now, paid $100 for only 4 dishes.
Fantastic food. Reasonable prices. Very clean, excellent service
They only accept cash, and there is no obvious reminder before dining. If I only bring a credit card when I go out, I have to spend 2.5 to withdraw cash from the in-store ATM (the credit card company may also charge a 5-dollar cash withdrawal fee). What age is this? They only accept cash. The customer flow is so huge but they are greedy for such a small amount of money.
Disgusting food. They premake it a while ago, then when the customers come in they heat it up. Not fresh in the slightest. Even worse, they forgot to heat up my chicken, so I ate cold chicken served in a restaurant. Servers are also extremely rude. DO NOT COME
A great place in the city for noodle soup and barbecue meat.
To stop by and eat, there is nothing else, its fine, youre out of trouble.
Kings Noodle is one of my go to restaurants whenever I am in the area. The place gets packed during lunch and supper, however the food is worth it. Not the cheapest Chinese restaurant I have been too, but it is in downtown Toronto so it is understandable.
Food is fresh and flavorful. I have been going here since 2004 and I am never disappointed. If you want authentic Chinese food that tastes great and doesnt cost you an arm and a leg, this is the place to go. Update: I went on Sunday (Aug 28, 2022) after Fan Expo with my two boys and this place never disappoints. I have beef tendon wonton and noodle soup with shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings and also the salted donut wrapped in rice noodle. First time having it and it was great. I didnt get any photos this time. The kids were hungry. Next time for sure. Update: The kids and I went again on Good Friday 2023. The food and the experience are amazing. Vegetarian options: Well, its a Chinese restaurant so there are many options for vegetarians.ots of vegetable dishes as well as tofu. Kid-friendliness: My kids are great eaters and the staff are always friendly with them. Talking directly to them while they order. Awesome staff.
Ordered the braised beef noodle soup. Portion was small, but tasted good. I was still hungry after though. I saw the staff heating up portions of roast meat in styrofoam containers in the microwave when take out orders came through. This is NOT how you run a restaurant. I ll never return.
Dont eat the barbecued meat series here. The food served can only be described as shabby. Moreover, the tip is calculated for you on the bill, so you cant pay according to the amount you want. Standard Cantonese, greedy
Has a beef flank w/wontons and egg noodles...same as i remember from my 30s...
While it is understandable for the price to skyrocket due to recent inflation, the drastic deterioration in food quality at the same time is sadly disappointing. We dine here regularly during our undergrad years and this restaurant was known for the BBQs and dim-sums. During the most recent visit, we found the portion of the roasted duck nearly halved, and they literally served us microwaved leftovers from the previous night that was cold inside! The fried dough was also microwaved leftover and became completely soggy. In the end, what used to cost the two of us less than 50 now cost more than 70. Truely disappointing.
Its been here soo long but its a dump now. Bugs, staff are miserable they forgot my food and when I asked they ignored me. Waited longer and when I asked again they looked for my order sheet and realized they forgot my food. Really there are soo many good options near by. They cant compete anymore in the area. Also they microwave the food.I did support them as along as i could because it was good years ago.
$8.50 for a wonton noodle soup - small portion. Service was fine. In and out in 20 minutes.
Affordable Cantonese food!
I ve been coming here for 27 years. My favourite place!!!
The fried dough sticks are delicious, the barbecued pork and roast duck are just so-so Porridge and soup are okay The wonton noodles are unpalatable. The noodles are broken. The wontons must have been cooked for a long time.
I was a bit wary of the low reviews on Google, but decided to follow my gut feeling and give this restaurant a try. Im really glad I did!The noodle soup with roasted duck was delicious. Id describe the taste as comforting or homely.
Expensive and not worth it
Ive never had duck. Took a chance. Well. Bbq duck and each noodle that wash lucky enough to touch the bbq duck was DELICIOUS!!
Dirty inside and terrible service - swatow is much better!
Delicious decent Chinese foods in town !! Whenever passed by town, for late night dinner
$27 for deep fried squid is too much. many of the chefs specials are $27. the food is well made but the portion was not that large. other restaurants charge $18
Food is decent but they tried to over charge us by 50% and we had to say something. They acted like it was a mistake then we watched the next table pay and they were overcharged by a huge amount also. They also had to debate it with the waitress. Beware! Good noodles and soup either way .
Good food but overpriced.
The restaurant was open before 11AM so my family tried it out. Food was ok. Servers are mostly great. The restaurant smelled of chlorine. We weren t informed beforehand that it was a cash-only restaurant. So by the time we re paying with our card, they told us only cash but they have atm in the restaurant. Good thing is there are banks near the restaurant so a couple of us went there to get some cash. I don t trust their atm. And they overcharged us. We paid cash and they charged us with tax plus service charge! I would gladly give tips but with miscommunication and everything I was hesitant. No official receipt given. BEWARE.
Pricey food, not one $ as its listed in google. More like $$, be prepared to pay more. Portion size is alright if you dont think about how much you have to pay for. Washroom is horrible and dirty. Parking: Street parking at best
Good place for family and kids. Food is tasty, rice toppings and the noodle soup dishes are good for 2. Food comes out fast and fresh. Good serving portions for their fried rice and stir fried noodles. Bbq pork, roast pork, bbq duck are always a must try. Staff are very nice. Good service. Place is spacious and clean. Stroller friendly space.
This place used to be affordable and their portion sizes were on par with surrounding restaurants but not anymore. Also their 2 for 1 Uber Eats special is a total joke, they re boxing up 1/2 portions lol very sneaky but bad for business
The food was good but the service was absolutely bad. First of all the place only accepts cash. They directed us to an ATM setup inside this restaurant that charged us fee for withdrawal. Then they charged us service charge for our bill without a proper bill and then added tip to our bill from there end. It was such a weird experience.
I have had the 5 spice calamari, yang chow fried rice, har gow, and bao buns. All served hot with excellent, savory, fresh flavor. Atmosphere is upscale and servers are very amicable as well. All of these I would give 5/5 starts to no question. So why is the review only 2 stars? Like a lot of the other reviews have been saying, its the prices. They are easily of the highest for the portion size of any restaurant in Chinatown that I have been to, and are only getting higher. I have seen my main choices of calamari and fried rice both get 4$ more expensive this year compared to their 2022 prices of $9 and $17, and this does not include either the tax or tip. Neither of those by themselves add up to the portions at other restaurants either, they only reach that amount when ordered together. For reference several other restaurants I have been to in Chinatown have charged $12-$19 for full portions, with both tax and tip. Such a pity the prices have risen so much, I used to be able to come on a regular basis but with rising prices everywhere else too, coming here is not cost-friendly any more. I very much hope they lower their prices so I can get back to being a regular for that 5 star food, atmosphere and service: in the meantime I would only recommend coming here if youve set aside a decent amount of money for eating out.
The noodle is unique. The soup is plain yet soothing. The roast pork is top notch. Though put together with the noodle in the soup, they stay crispy. Yummy. The best part of the meal. The Chinese salted donut is so so. Yet not soggy nor too oily. What was interesting was we didnt get any tea or water until we ask for one. And we get exactly only one glass of water while there were two of us eating.
Theres a reason Sursur eats here
With more friends visiting from out of town, we went sightseeing around Toronto and ended up in Chinatown at Kings Noodle, a place that Ive been to in the past. We kept it light by sharing a Cantonese Chow Mein and a platter with BBQ Duck and Roast Pork. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the other ingredients were very tasty. Overall, the food was good, albeit pricier than anticipated. The service was very efficient and friendly but the restaurant was starting to get busy with their lunch rush, hence their efficiency. 3.5/5.0
Food was unremarkable. Service was awful, all the staff were rude and made us feel unwelcome. Dishes were quite pricy as well. Will not be returning, there are many better options around this area.
Oh wow, really tasty The menu is so big it would take an hour to read it! Ive never seen so many items. And it comes out so quickly after you order I had leftovers for 2 days!
the peking bbq duck, wonton soup, and the rice wrapped in lotus leaves i highly recommend everything was so good !
Older Yelp review: Last nights dinner. Roast pork on rice. Its the best that I have tried in downtown Toronto. Skin is thin and crispy. Meat is tender and tasty. am not a fan of sauces but theirs is simple yet nice and doesnt have an irritatingly strong flavour. Server is fast and attentive. They are also very clean. They wipe the table after every customer. Price is reasonable. Update: Roast pig on a bowl of rice again. Specifically mentioned that I want it without the sauce. New-found favourite. Also ordered beef egg drop soup. The serving is generous and they put in a good amount of beef, eggs, scallions and mushrooms, especially considering that a regular egg drop soup only has corn starch, eggs, salt and msg. Very filling. We were served by the same lady server is she is still fast, attentive and nice.
Love the food here!
Its not bad for fried rice but price has gone up much. Dough rice roll with sauce is salty and price is $6. The 3 items comes up to $50 with tips.
One of the og, never disappoints. With more than 200 dishes on the menu, they bring your food to table in less than 5mins
I had their wonton noodle soup here and it was pretty standard. I definitely enjoyed it but I wouldnt say that it was the best Ive had. I personally preferred Goldstones wonton noodle. Cash only at this location!
We ve been going to King Noodle for more than 10 years. The service can be rough around the edges, but the food is always great. The wonton soup and pork rice flour roll are especially good.
The food was okay but the service extremely poor never again!
They charge you 15% tips mandatory, and the size of dish is for children.
Tasty and fresh food. Really liked the bbq pork with shrimp dumplings and fried noodles with vegetables + seafood + meat. Although, there were two problems. The first was that we didn t realized that the Chinese tea refill was 6 dollars more. The second was that they only accept cash and they didn t gave us a printed bill, so we could hardly see the detail of the cost.
Very stupid. Tasteless food, does not accept card payment. China
After we sit down, there was no one care if we are ready to order or you have to call them over. Food are just food, no surprised or I would not come back.
Been a regular customer since 2005. Their food are never failed me.
Good and authentic Chinese food, perfect for a quick bite when youre not sure where to go. Would definitely recommend it if you havent been before.
Great casual Chinese spot for a quick bite to eat. Service is really fast and not fussy. Food is delicious
So mid.. I dont know. I would go to swatow or house of gourmet or yinji over this. Server forgets to bring water to the table and didnt accept debit card.
Every time I come to Toronto I was always like to eat here, either dim sum, sea food congee and or anything it was always good and satisfied Vegetarian options: You can always eat veggies if you ordered . Kid-friendliness: There was always children coming to eat with their parents here
I ordered from ubereats 2 days ago and they had a buy one get one offer so I placed an order. The order was delivered quickly and that s where all the good things ended. Portion sizes were a bit small given how much I paid, they skimped out on the amount of beef. But what really annoyed me is that the offer disappeared shortly after I had ordered and somehow I got charged full price for both meals when one of them should ve been free. Otherwise I wouldn t have gotten 2 of the same dish or I wouldn t have ordered from them in the first place. I ve tried to contact UberEats but they said that I need to contact the restaurant since the offer is provided by the restaurant and not them. As I don t have proof of this offer (I ve never needed to take a screenshot of my order before), the chances of me getting a refund for this is slim. The fact that the offer disappeared so quickly after I had placed the order seemed super sketchy to me when I first noticed, and I would never order from this place again.
Their noodles soup are famous in China town . Give it a try !
Pretty good authentic hong kong style noodles. Decent service.
i order the wonton lo mein , 5 wonton with small portion of noodle, $16 bucks + tax, taste normal, nothing special, well over price, most expensive noodle i have in china town, wont go back.
Very delicious food with amazing and friendly service
The staff are showing different attitudes to Hong Kong customers and Chinese customers.
Good food.
Decent Chinese BBQ but used to be much better.. still worth your while
Compliments to the chef on producing the blandest meal my taste buds have ever encountered. Staff were fine, atmosphere was fine, but the food is inexcusably poor. We ordered $130, worth of food and consumed maybe 10% of it before walking out. Dont waste your dollars or time,
One of my go-to places to eat one of my favourite Fried Rice Noodles with black bean sauce dishes. The staff are nice too and its quite a relaxing place to eat in.
Hi, this is the only Chinese restaurant I go in Toronto and I ve been here for 35 years. They have the best hot and sour soup and every dish they serve it s delicious highly recommended.
Used to be a great late night spot, close at 9pm now tho :(
Go to place for Chinese food on Spadina. Good sized portions. I dont recall them being cash only but they are now. Just FYI for anyone going.
I don t even know why the reviews here are good. The food is clean but it s really pricy and the portion is small. The food isn t even top quality. They cook with a lot of starch to make the food silky looking. It s okay but not good. I don t like the waitress being rude to me. When they serve their food to me.
Its a dinning, but like a fast food place, you ate and you paid at the station even tho there were a lot servers around. Cheap and the food is good, not bad at all, the new renovation is amazing, Cleaner a lot.
Had the bbq duck with rice and roast pork noodle soup. Taste was mediocre and the soup was unappetizingly salty. Price is okay but the ATM in the store had no cash so I had to leave, go to an ATM and come back. Sub par experience overall
Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Prices are very reasonable.
Order BOGO noodle and fried rice from them . Instead making regular size box x 2, they gave me 2 small box instead . They cheat customers . Terrible .
Soup was lukewarm but char siu was delicious.
A Chinese restaurant that has been around the Spadina strip for a long while. I personally go for their noodle soups (their name is kings noodle after all) and dim sum and BBQ but I have seen others go for their other menu items. It is a cash only establishment so make sure to have some if youre going in. I like it and I regularly go there. Give it a try
King s noodle restaurant is a great Chinese restaurant for BBQ food as well as lo mein. I highly recommend trying their roast pork lo mein, as the sauce is great and their roast pork is extremely crispy. Service here is nothing to write home about, and the place itself wasn t very busy. Be aware that this restaurant is cash only (and are a tad bit pricey for Cantonese food). See pics below for food, they tell the story themself.
Walked past this place and saw a discount for rice chashu at $7 at lunch time on a Saturday. Having had chashu at a few places in Toronto, this is my second favorite now. Quite a bargain!
Our beloved Dim Sum place when in Toronto!!! Excellent food. Great service. Food : 5/5
Throw the napkin on the table, showing bad attitude on customers while doing nothing as if we have asked for million request.(?)(?) Super small portion and ONLY CASH with almost 3 dollars of atm fee. I was so embarrassed on servers open rudeness. Is it a kind of marketing maybe? Food
1st and last time. Food is gross.
Nate dog. Questionable service
Dirty
Soy chicken, roast duck (tender juicy flavourful Roast pork (they use lean meat which is not my type. a bit dry and tasteless, also lack beautiful crunchy roasted crust Rice roll w/ donut (rice roll is thick. The dish came cool. Bland seasoning. Overall lack in flavour and texture
I have been coming here since I was a young kid (currently 22) and its always so good everytime! There is a lot to choose from with Chinese cuisine including dim sum options too. I always have to get the chicken congee and Chinese donuts its my absolute favourite! So filling and its a really good price for the portion you get. You can also have some roasted pork or duck to go! Definitely a great spot to have lunch or dinner with family!
The food is excellent and quite affordable. Service is a bit slow but this is pretty normal these days. Bring cash because they dont take cards.
