We’ve been going to Sandy’s for years, and for the first time, we were disappointed in our dinner. We ordered 9 dishes so we had a good sampling. Most of them were either tasteless, too sweet, or too salty. Everything tasted artificial, and there didn’t seem to be any ginger or garlic. I don’t even want to eat the leftovers. I’m guessing a change of ownership. Very sad, this was a go-to place for us for about a decade.
I don’t know why I slept on this place, but I’ve been getting their daily special and it hits! I be like… General Tao W/ the vegetable fried rice. Don’t sleep, go get it.

I used to work near the area and would be here once or twice a week. I think they just need an extra hand to maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant and help with answering phone calls/orders as it can get really busy during the weekends. I always see the lady running back and forth to take care of guests and to run the orders which I know is very tiring. Otherwise, this restaurant offers cheap price with big portions and good food too! 👍🏼 I’ll be coming back soon! 😊
Great portions at great prices. Really good fried chicken wings that came with the take out order after hitting the minimum. Everything was very tasty except the sweet and sour pork. It's my favorite dish, but it was very disappointing. Tasted like orange chicken which was weird, would not recommend this dish. Would recommend and come back to try other dishes.

Wanted to taste some yummy Chinese food from one of the local businesses and Google recommended them. Seeing 4.3 avg. rating encouraged us to try it out. No complaints about service, it was warm and friendly. However, the food was not. It's true that they give you a huge amount to fill your belly but if your tongue couldn't taste anything, what's the point of filling your belly? Mongolian Chicken with steamed rice had more cabbage to cover the whole thing (see picture). Even if that was tasty, I wouldn't complain. It was dripping with sauce and no taste. Sweet and Sour Pork usually is a safe bet, with chicken fried rice, it looked good but tasted nothing. The pork was full with sauce, and fried rice was hard as hell. Overall, not a good experience. Having less faith in these Google ratings lately. I guess most 5-star people went there to fill their belly with cheap offers rather than taste something good at a reasonable price. No hard feelings to the owners, they were good, just not the food we paid for.
The food is amazing! Great portions and the prices are reasonable. This is a family owned restaurant which has been in the community for years. My family and I have been coming here for years and I can honestly say they never disappoint. You have to check out this hidden gem!
Trying to like the place. Got the canton chow mein. The noodles soggy and not done. The saucy ho fun is good though. I wish this place could be a proper cha cha ten. Def does not taste authentic Chinese food. Hit and miss

Went there today for the first time. My wife and myself do not have lots of money and I was very happy with the price and the large amount of food given. The food was 5 stars very tasty and nice people. I highly recommend Sandys both take out and dine in
#106 Shanghai Noodles with Pork and Shrimp was incredibly tasty! The flavors were well-balanced, and the shrimp and pork were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent, with the owner very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

I bought a vegetable fried rice and there wasnt any vegetables in it, it taste ok, I eat it and pointed out to the cook and the server that there wasnt any vegetables in the vegetable fried rice, they said its very fine and difficult to see the vegetables and next time they will add vegetables. I eat the fried wings too wasnt to my liking, the food is ok if youre hungry and I will go back to try other dishes.
Take family out for dinner when in town excellent food,friendly staff and quick service. Great bang for buck 6 of us (3kids,3adults) ate till full and still took food home.

Lived in this area for 10 years, which is also how long I ve been going to Sandy s. Jimmy (the main owner) was amazing.. The food was always amazing!! I ve realized that they have new owners now and I m not exactly sure what happened to Jimmy? Ive also realized that since the new owners have been there, the quality of the food and taste has changed tremendously. Don t get me wrong I have nothing against these new owners, they are very nice people, but I just wish they had left the food, the recipes and the taste of everything as it was
One of my very favourite finds as I moved into the neighborhood. Price is right and portion sizes are large. I generally go with Mongolian Beef on top of Fried Rice. It is a winner. Canadian Chinese food can be pretty hit or miss but they generally hit it here.

I love this restaurant, so much so that I don t really want too many people to know of this hidden gem. The restaurant has a wide menu ranging from Canadian fast food, Canadian-Chinese food to a number of authentic Chinese food. Come here if you re looking for a good value meal at an unpretentious community spot.
I slipped in for a quick lunch and had the Cantonese chow mein. The Google Maps reviewers who said the portions were generous were absolutely correct but the reviewers who said there was too much corn starch in the sauce were also right. The chicken & beef were good quality, the carrots & broccoli were fresh & perfectly cooked & the noodles were scrumptious so its too bad about the cornstarch. I realize that its needed for thickening the sauce - I just advise less of it! That said, their lunch specials are below 10$ and Id go back at noontime if I was in the area again - Id just avoid saucy dishes in the future.

Used to love ordering from Sandys, it used to be our go-to when we wanted to order out, but it has been incredibly difficult to get a hold these days and today even after getting someone on the phone... we never got our food. We waited 2.5hrs and there was nothing, we tried calling after the 1.5hr mark to cancel the order but as I said earlier... its impossible to get through. Eventually a driver showed up and I answered the door holding the dinner I ultimately ended up cooking for myself. If you can get through, and if they actually take your order, and if they actually deliver it... get the ginger beef, its great, assuming it gets delivered.
After waiting 60 minutes for delivery, I called to be told they had not even started cooking it. No call nothing.
If there is such a thing as a Canadian Chinese Food diner then this is it. Great fast food, quick service, reasonable prices, but dont go for the decor. Food
Walked in, tables hadnt been cleared. Sat for 20 minutes, they completely ignored us. Served people walking in to place takeout orders and continued to ignore us. Got up and left. The place is dirty looking, a dump.

This is not a fancy place, but the food is plentiful and relatively cheap. They have a lot of options to choose from and several specials. I have only ever done take out. Its my go-to Chinese food restaurant in the Woodbine/Danforth area. I usually get the bok choy + beef, and the rice+chicken+veggie special, and spring rolls. Nothing fancy, but if you dont feel like cooking or spending a lot of money itll do!

Ordered Ginger and spring onion chicken, I got carrots and onion chicken, worst dish I ever ate, after I complained, l was told, just throw it in the garbage. No, I will never order again, and I will not recommend it to any body.
Popped in here for lunch as its across from the shared work space I work from. Super kind mom and pop shop. I ordered chinese fried rice and chicken wings. Tasted great and hit the spot. Actually going back there today for lunch. Kind owners, good prices, tasty food and great portions.
Family owned restaurant with fresh and tasty affordable food on Danforth. They have done in again . For awhile it was only take out due to Covid . The use zucchini in their fried rice instead of green peas . Which I absolutely love . I also enjoy their soups . I recommend this for the woodbine danforth area .
Salt and pepper squid is our favorite.its a regular dish out west and the best Ive ever had in Toronto. Our go to place for Chinese, Thai and Malaysian.

This place is garbage! 3 of us ordered 3 different dishes, and it all looked and tasted the same. Disgusting. I felt sick after a few bites. Please do not go there and do not waste your time and money. It is way below Canadian standards. They didnt even have coffee, and the waitress didnt care about anything. My God what a disgrace for the Danforth.
Food here is yummy! And she always just makes me what I want to eat. I wanted broccoli on rice as a low carb meal and she made it for me

Sandys is the only Chinese restaurant thus far to impress me with the value, flavour and quality. Affordable at 9 CAD (after tax) for the daily specials and the portion is enormous. Very good service as well.
A neighbourhood institution, but really not that great. Food was just average, service was not great--guy got my phone number mixed up, my order took 10 minutes longer than he said it would, and then sat as he debated me for another 10 minutes (who else would order the exact same 5 dishes, with options, that I would have?) about whether it was mine or not, before hed let me pay and take my food. Gotta manage your expectations when the menu includes everything from Cantonese, to Sichuan, to Hakka, to chicken wings and poutine.
I figured with a 4.3 star rating this should be good right? Wrong. It took an hour and a half for this to arrive and it would narrowly pass as food. If you like dough with sweet and sour sauce on it ( I guess chicken and pork where optional) than go for it.Our dogs ate well and the rest went in the garbage. Bad bad bad . You ve been warned.
I was hoping for authentic Chinese. I guess that most of their customers and reviewers love mostly deep fried dough wrapped meat. I understand, but . I am a bit sad that more of their packaged egg roll is caught in my teeth than got down my throat.

Food is well made and lots to choose from. The typical neon red sweet and sour sauce is more an orange look and flavour is our only complaint.

I ordered a general tao chicken and 2 egg rolls. The general tao tasted like lemons and I don t mean lemon chicken (that actually tastes good), I m taking just lemons. I got spring rolls with pork in them even though I don t eat pork. Ruined my day with this lemon rind chicken. Shame on you bruh

The best Chinese food in town.. not sure about the 1star reviews I do NOT agree. Always fresh and delicious! Plain stir fried noodles, House fried rice or bbq pork, sweet and sour chicken or pork is usually my order! Perfect every time!

Affordable yummy Chinese food
Im amazed by the amount of food on the plate for such a decent price! They have so many different types of dishes to choose from. The server lady was very nice. The only thing is my Singapore rice noodle was a little tasteless(forgot salt?). And the wait time was a little too long. Other than that, I will come back here again for sure in the future!

Delicious food, great service, amazing prices and huge portion sizes!!! Definitely would get takeout or dine in again here! The decor left a bit to be desired though. Strangely Christmas decorations were still on the walls and counters in Aug! Dining room is ok but not great ambiance or anything (ie very casual). All seating is hard wood so the booths and chairs arent comfortable at all. But my biggest criticism is the bathrooms. It reeked of moth balls and urine. Smelled like cat urine or a litterbox actually but it was so bad I couldnt stand it without a mask and I could barely endure it with a mask on.

Place has decent food, but never order for delivery as you will likely wait 2 hours. Called in an hour after my order and was told my food will be delivered after 5-10 minutes, 25 minutes after still no food so called in again and told again driver is on its way and is 10 minutes away which doesnt really make sense as I live 5 minutes away.

Incredible price, excellent portions and large selection to choose from. I have literally nothing bad to say about this place. Very easy to order, no language barrier and for the best ..they give you a realistic time for pick it up. The quality of the food was beyond reproach. After eating at 90% of the Chinese restaurants on the Danforth. I finally found my goto restaurant. Like they say, if you kiss enough a frogs, you eventually find Prince.

By far my fave CanAsian in the east end! Hard working people making good food. Try the Kung Pao chicken, delicious. Also they are very accommodating with dietary requirements as well!
So.. update... I still love this place. However, what is with the huge chunks of sliced onions with every dish??!! No ginger or green onion in my ginger beef. Sure it tasted ginger, powder. Mongolian chicken had more cabbage than chicken. Comon Sandys, you can do so much better than that. As far as noodles rice and soup, this is the best place

I wanted just a bunch of fortune cookies (because honestly is there a better snack?) - and Jimmy very kindly gave me more than I asked for just to be nice! SO lovely and kind. Coincidentally, the first fortune I got said Dont worry about money, the best things in life are free; certainly we are all very lucky to have a great small business in our neighbourhood. I will be back again for cookies and for the generally excellent food.

The decor may be modest, but the food is amazing! Large portions (enough for two), very homely (filled with regulars) atmosphere, scrumptious food. Listen to their recommendations, you wont be disappointed. Theyve been around for more than 20 years, they must be doing something right, right?!

The food was good. Not the best Chinese Ive had in Toronto, but its decent. Ordeded the chicken lo mein, and sweet and sour chicken...both were good, portions were good. Also ordered the Mongolian Beef and once I dug around in the mountain of cabbage and found a few pieces to try, yes it was good but here they definitely skimped out. There was literally barely any beef to be found...paid $11 bucks for cabbage basically. Overall, the order in whole was decent. Would probably order again.
Had three dishes delivered. They looked like they were cooked by a child. The nuts tasted old and unpleasant, and the beef dish tasted like fish. I urge you to look elsewhere.

I have been eating from Sandys restaurant before they ended up at woodbine and Danforth. My once per week go to. Love the friendly staff. Hurry up and end covid Im going through withdrawal.
Ive been getting food at Sandys since I was a little kid. My family has been there for christmas, Ive taken my girlfriend there so many times. Its my favourite chinese food restaurant in the whole city and am really looking forward to the day you guys open up again! Hope covid doesnt have you down to much, hope youre all safe and well! Great place with a ton of different cuisines and flavours! Thai, Hakka, Chinese, Malaysian and everything genuinely tastes authentic. Portions are big and cooked well! Prices are reasonable! There are soups, noodle and rice dishes, curries, vegetarian (if you want anything modified) and they will adjust spice levels for you as you ask. Very nice Asian gentleman who is the owner and he is kind as can be! The place is clean and one of the few spots on the east end of the Danny that does Asian food well! Definitely worth a visit!

First time ordering for take out. The lady was friendly and helpful. The food was TASTY. Shanghai noodles were incredible, mixed vegetables so fresh and cooked to perfection. Hot and sour soup was good, though they put green peppers in which threw it off a little for me. I cant wait to try other dishes!! Very reasonably priced..wished I lived in the hood for free delivery!!

Delicious, consistent, comfort food at a good value. They have really good poutine and chicken wings. Forget about the Chinese food on the suburbs, this place makes good authentic Chinese food plus Chinese Canadian classics like sweet and sour chicken balls.
On their website it says Always open for the holidays. What a crock. This places lights were off without so much as a closed sign. Fortunately we found somewhere that really was open. Check out Sea Spray close by.

Amazing! Affordable, huge plates with that authentic Chinese touch. Beef Ho Fun, Salt and Pepper Pork (spicy) and Shanghai noodles shown here. The pork was perfect with red and green chillies, noodles were done right and heaping plates. Our host was so friendly and attentive, knee it was our first time. The older gentleman served our last dish right from the kitchen with a genuine smile and casually joked with us about our chopstick use and request for small bowls instead of plates. You are 100%!! Three massive dishes with our intent of leftovers, but nothing made it out the door, it was too darn tasty! All of this, tea and water and two bottles of beer for just under $40. Make a point of checking this place out. Its clean and warm, the furniture might be a little dated but that adds to the authenticity.
In terms of the venue the place is a little out dated but the food is good. Usually get the chicken fried rice and sweet and sour pork. The poutine was okay. Could have been better but not horrible.

So yes, the food isnt the best Chinese food youve ever had, and the atmosphere is kinda weird and too bright. Yes, they can get overwhelmed when theyre busy (more than 7 orders at the same time) and the service can suffer. But I still really enjoy the food and find the staff really kind and polite. I pop in and place my order, then go do a little bit of browsing or shopping and value village and pick up the food when Im done. Generally 15-20 mins later. The specials menu is really affordable and I can pick up dinner for me and my partner for under 20 dollars thats been freshly made. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

Got the general Tao w/ fried rice combo. As a student living in the woodbine dan area, I found Sandys to be the best value for your money Chinese around. Food was great, portion generous, significantly more affordable than the rest of the thai restaurants here..

Just bought lunch/dinner. portions are huge, the price is cheap and the service was amazing :) Also, coming from a Singaporean exchange student, the food tastes really really good.
Friendly wait staff. Quick service. Food was a good value. Taste was fine too. They tailored my food to my spice palette at my request. The ambiance is a no nonsense functional diner. Ill be back.
