I absolutely love Shirley's. The food is excellent and Annie is so sweet. I have to voice my disappointment in the last ladies' comments. They are totally unwarranted as I was there that night. Her friend did buy several rounds, boasting the whole time how "rich" he was but my friend and I were excluded. Not that I care, I don't know him from Adam and can more than enough afford to buy my own but just to say.. he was showboating for sure. Oddly enough, I also notice she didn't post the second bill.. which was by the way much less than the first. I know this because I saw it myself. This manl and "LADY' Charlene were totally in the wrong, did not pay attention to how much they were ordering and I find it so wrong that they are laying the blame for their oversight in the first place.
I have to write this as I had enough. Needless to say I will never go back. My friend likes to buy a round or 2 for everyone and that’s fine. 1st bill, paid, 2nd bill was more than 1st bill and we know the 2nd bill should be smaller as there was no food on the 2nd bill and bought less for others. Fine. Calculation was wrong, so recalculated and apologizing would have been sufficient, but the owners wouldn’t admit it was wrong. So I went back to the 1st bill to double check as that had a machine printout to compare to the handwritten note. There was 2 extra beer charges, where did they come from? Adding the food, alcohol and then the taxes, did not match the total of what the machine said. Machine added $15 more to the bill so that’s more than 15% of the bill, but it doesn’t have a line item for this extra $15. If you want tips, you need to make it visible on the bill otherwise it’s cheating. Don’t tell other people that we didn’t give tips after we’ve left when it was added to the bill already. Don’t say you don’t know what the machine did, you own the business so you have to know if your machine is charging properly. Otherwise legal action can be taken against the business. Whoever wants to go for food, it’s still good food, but I wouldn’t stay in the restaurant. The women’s washroom is horrendous. Spider webs hanging down low at 3 corners of the washroom, had to avoid the webs to wash my hands, ceiling paint falling off, the whole washroom smelled of extreme mould, that has to be a health hazard. Spicy chicken with pork fried rice combo was good so that’s why I still gave 5 stars for the food, but will not visit again due to other problems.
Was pleasantly surprised with my fried rice from here. I’ve had it on three different occasions and haven’t been disappointed yet! It’s a good-sized portion and decent quality for the price. Would recommend as an affordable Chinese food option in the area.

My mom loves getting food from here. The price for drinks and food is affordable. We had the pepper shrimp with vegetable(priced more) compared to with rice, still reasonable. And fried pepper wings. The food is great! Occasionally a bit too oily, hence the 4/5. As for atmosphere, older guys are usually here, so it can be a little awkward, cause they sometimes act like they've never seen women, but still friendly.
Good food and great value. Decor is a little outdated but the star of the show was their spicy chicken wings! Really tasty and nicely fried. Small family owned business. They remind me of my own. You can’t go wrong when the cooks are in there yelling, you know the food is going to be bomb! Thanks Annie!
🍔 Jumbo Cheeseburger + 🍟 Fries I cannot express how good this meal was for me. It's been about 3 years now since I've had my Mom's homemade burgers and this was by far the closest thing I've had the pleasure of enjoying since her passing in 2015 (rest her soul love you momma) If you want to experience a homestyle meal in an atmosphere reminiscent of a time when things were simpler, easy going, and simply about making good food for fair prices, Shirley's Restaurant will take you there. Have faith in Shirley she will not steer you wrong with whats good on the menu that night. Also, thank you for the best burger I've had in 3 years.

Inexpensive yet great, fresh food, especially their Alaskan salmon. A gem in the Danforth and Main area, and owner Annie is a great owner and cook.

Hidden gem? Nope. Just a gem. A very good gem. Like a rhinestone or a goldstone. I don t know gems. But I know that good, affordable food in a clean and kind environment is worth cherishing.

I loved the quality of food and very cheap prices provided = 9/10. I would come back again if we werent all stuck in lockdown and it was open. Also the chow mein was amazing.

I ordered the fried shrimp with Catonese Chow Mein and chicken wings, and they tasted amazing! Definitely worth the price and exceeded my expectations of what cheap fast food is supposed to be. I highly recommend getting food from here!

Food would taste good, minus the oiliness, Why add extra PEPPER to food, when the customer didnt request it, on purpose ????
First issue no hours posted of when they are open. Secondly this place totally false advertises and has terrible customer service. The waiter couldnt tell the difference between a Pepsi and a diet Pepsi. Service was slow. There was only one other person when we arrived and our food took forever to arrive. It was well over 5 minutes between when my fiancé meal arrived and mine did. Meals should be brought out together. The combo I ordered boasted chicken balls, fresh vegetables, bbq pork rice for $6.95. What I got was chicken balls and a plate full of fried rice. I had envisioned a plate with delicious chicken balls, steamed vegetables and fried rice with peas and carrots. All their combos have fresh vegetables listed as a separate line item. When I complained they told me that was what it came with. The peas and carrots in my rice were my fresh vegetables they didnt have anything else. Meanwhile my fiancés dinner had bok choy and broccoli. The food itself was okay nothing exceptional. They did nothing to rectify this or appease me. I was charged full price for my meal not even comping my $1.25 soda. They didnt even come check on if we liked the food. I will say the price was good $21 for the two of us, but the lack of customer far outweighs that. I will not be going back and suggest you go elsewhere. I would give this place a no star if I could.
Great food and good drinks reasonable prices
They have many $6.95 dinner for one combos. Ive tried two different ones and loved them both. Decor is 70s but that doesnt bother me. I loved the food, the portion size was huge and what a deal for under $8 after taxes! Of course they arent going to wait on you hand and foot for those cheap prices, but to tell you the truth, when youre given lots to eat and everything you need at the start of the meal, I prefer to eat in peace. If I need something, I call someone over... So long as Im living near this restaurant, Ill be dining here most often! Pictured below is the egg roll and massive takeout container of rice and lemon chicken all for $6.95!

Food is not good
Ok the setting is not the greatest, but well their spicy chicken wings are amazing. I come by every saterday & they do not dissappoint...
Im a fan of the cheap pre-made hot-pan Chinese you can get at all kinds of places across the GTA, but this place is a disgrace to even those, then attempts to offer sit-down service and an entire menu alongside that. I like a sketchy place, if it means well and the people actually intend to do their jobs, good food helps in that respect too; but this place was downright greasy. Half the place sealed off by curtains, dust and just straight clear signs of lack of hygiene or maintenance. Coupled with poor service and a glaring lack of concern. I think the woman and her two kids working there spent more time looking at their phones then preparing my meal, or serving me. Shame if I wanted more water when theres flappy bird to play. Its obviously more geared to be a bar now days, but doesnt seem to accomplish much in that either. (See previous gripes with service) Rice was dry, fish wasnt even really cooked, and in that was obviously just boxed frozen fish, so; how do you screw that up?
Yummy fried rice! Good place to go if you crave Chinese food.
