Taste of China Seafood Restaurant in Toronto

Went with a friend, we just picked a place at random, and we were happy with our choice! Great duck!!

We had the deep fried spicy squid and rice noodles with beef (beef ho fun). Both were quite good, and not oily at all, which was a nice surprise. Would like to come back and sample more of the menu.

Had a bug in my water they didn t seem to care. Honestly food wasn t good. I ordered a seafood dish and it didn t come with rice. It s not like I ordered fried rice or a noodle dish. Service wasn t good by old man and lady. I advise going to one of the many other restaurants in Chinatown.

The server was utterly rude and demanded for 10$ tip. Cursed us out. Terrible customer service, Never go there.

The General Tao and sweet n sour chicken with pineapple were really good! My friends and I ordered the lobster as well but weren t so impressed with it. Customers service was amazing however you re better off dining in than doing take out as your portions are much bigger.

Don t order delivery from here. It might be a different experience in the restaurant but the food quality and portion are terrible via delivery. There is barely any meat in all the meat dishes. The noodles in the soup noodle dishes were broken in small pieces. The Singapore style vermicelli just taste like curry powder without any other seasoning. The Bok Choy wasn t cleaned properly and there was still a lot of dirt on the leaves, especially near the stem area.

I have been coming here for about 20 years and I enjoy all the food, friendly family oriented staff and just the wholesome vibe. Usually after a hectic week I will take my family friends, whomever is with me, for a long drive downtown since I live north now, and eat some good excellent comfort food. The General Tao chicken is my absolute favorite dish and the fried shrimp and garlic Chinese broccoli is a close second and third! Eat up, because there is enough food o the plates they bring thats we always have take away afterwards!

I went with a friend. We thought the lunch specials still happened. Turns out weekends no. But the food was still delicious and the staff were very friendly.

Best seafood Fred rice in downtown Toronto

Got Singapore noodles and fried rice for delivery. Both were fantastic

Ive been going for years and never been disappointed. Fresh, hot, tasty food served here. Highly reccommend. Our go to varies between, shrimp wonton soup (excellent broth) salt n pepper squid (very crispy and not oily at all) Beef koren ribs with onions (so tasty, although i wish they cooked the onion!!) crispy beef (my fave, go for the filet migon beef as theres 2 crispy beefs) snow peas or chinese greens in the garlic sauce (whats not to love) Salt and pepper Shrimp (i dont know how they make it juicy and crispy at the same time!!) Cantonese chow mein (fried noodles!!) Egg foo yong (why oh why cant i cook this at home?!! There must be a secret!!) There is a steady flow of customers for dine in and take out and alot of Asian people eating here which tells me its a good place to go to...go on, give it a try it....dare you!

This restaurant was bad I should known as soon as I walk in and smelt something burnt, the atmosphere was so depressing, and table I was sat in was dirty and the customer service is horrible. When ever the server couldnt understand what I was saying after repeating what I said multiple times he would make disgusted face at me and when ever I tried to get his attention he would completely ignored me. I cant tell if it was a racist thing or not since he was not ignoring any of the other customers. I DONT recommend coming here.

This is the worst experience I have had in a restaurant! THE SERVER WAS RUDE AND DEMANDED A $5 TIP AFTER THE BILL HAD ALREADY BEEN PAID! SHE WAS VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND WOULD NOT LET US LEAVE WITHOUT PAYING EXTRA FOR A TIP! This was a very embarrassing and distasteful experience for my friend who was visiting from the United States The food was also POOR! Don t come to this restaurant

Fantastic authentic food. Tastes just like it would in Guang Dong. I see a lot of people complaining about the service but I think it s actually an understandable misunderstanding of *some* of the southern Chinese culture. The fast paced nature of some southern Chinese restaurants (especially downtown in a big city) makes for a steamy, hasty environment where there isn t time for anything extra. For a Chinese person like me it actually adds to the authenticity of the restaurant in a very niche cultural way. But not for everyone, understandably.

Was my first time in Toronto and I wanted to try a traditional chinese restaurant. Happened upon this place because it was wednesday and most other places were either closed or didn t take credit card. Upon walking in I thought it was closed because no one was in there but the owner assured me it was. After I ordered I only waited a few minutes before it came and I was not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I couldn t recommend more.

The dishes were delicious and cooked to order. The cashew chicken and chicken chow mein were plenty for the four of us. Overall, great experience. And its one of the few places open on Wednesdays and who take credit cards.

Best cantonese restaurant in all of chinatown! They actually give big pieces of vegetables & great protein portion. plus, the wok hay is AMAZING here - its the char from the wok that really comes through on the noodle & rice dishes that I appreciate. This is what sets apart great cantonese restaurants from home cooking. Best of all, prices are still very reasonable even with the inflation thats apparent in most restaurants in Toronto. I highly recommend this place!

We were in China town, and we stumbled upon this gem. The food was incredibly delicious and well presented. If you find yourself in Toronto, Canada, its a must.

Came here for the first time with my friend and her family. We ordered the Peking duck, the seafood chow mein, the seafood and veggie stir fry, and the beef with onion on a sizzling plate. The beef and chow mein were phenomenal. The Cantonese food here is super authentic and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I noticed a review knocking the chow mein because of the sauce on top - that s actually called corn starch slurry , which is a thickened sauce that is used in a lot of dishes in Cantonese cuisine

Ordered delivery from here. The portion size is decent but there is little to no meat or non-carbs in the dish. The dish was fried noodles with shrimp and barbecue pork which I saw maybe 2 pieces of each. Really disappointed.

Best Chinese food restaurant Ive ever been to. We were a group of 10 & there was zero disappointment. Clean restaurant, friendly staff & the food was fresh & absolutely delicious!! Prices for the portions are extremely reasonable. This is a must try!! Five stars all the way. Thank you to the staff.

We ordered half a Peking duck and received 6 pieces of skin without meat! The gentleman said it was half a duck. Terrible, I dont recommend this meat to anyone!

The rice and broccoli were delicious, but the Peking duck and the service in the restaurant were very disappointing. The waiter, who saw that we were tourists from Europe, brought us instead of the half duck that was indicated, several small pieces of skin with fat, which did not even have meat on it. At first we even thought that it was some kind of strange national snack. Imagine our surprise when we did not wait for the duck and the waiter replied that these few skins in the plate were half of the ordered duck

The owner woman is selfish I were there as a uber driver that day and the way she behaved with me is not what I expected sometimes I am your customer too after she disrespected me I have never visited this restaurant for food you lose one customer learn Canadian culture respect everyone

Lady who is serving food she donot how to speak with customers they donot know how to sepak actually she is unprofessional for his work she donot know how to treat with people. There was hair in noodles, better to close this restaurant or need to cancel food service license.

I ve been going here for years. It s our go to spot if we need something to eat super late. The food ALWAYS hits. We get the exact same thing which we never do when we explore other restaurants. For us, it s comfort food and we love it! Plus the portions are generous so we got lunch the next day lol.

Bad food and rude staff

We ordered fried noodles with seafood. The food that was brought was doused with a wierd liquid on top, noodles were overfried (black in some places). It felt like we were eating snot. After we paid, we only left a $1.50 tip, since we didnt like the food and we didnt really eat anything. The waitress started saying that we didnt pay enough tip and that we should pay an extra 10-15 percent of the price paid. We explained that she didnt include the tip in the price we paid and that we wouldnt pay extra because we didnt like the food. She said that its not their fault that we didnt like to food and that were rude. She didnt let us go, yelling. After this scandal, we paid extra 10 percent tip of the price paid, to be allowed out of this restaurant. Highly NOT recommend going there as if youll not want to leave big tips, they will not allow you to leave their restaurant and call you rude. Ridiculous. Never going there again

Awful food, rude staff

The food was disgusting and unpalatable, and the attitude of the boss and shop assistants was also very bad. They looked like classic Fujianese people.

We went to the restaurant and ate there for 3 times, I usually ordered hot and sour soup, spring roll, seafood chow main, shrimp with vegetables, and shrimp noodles. They are fast and fresh anytime we order.

I rarely leave poor reviews, I was dismissed rudely by server for not having money for a tip on Christmas Day. (Bare in mind I was eating alone) But after I was told to not come back here from the server I definitely will not. Don t waste your money here they have poor principles. I used to love this restaurant now I will remind all my colleagues to never to support this establishment ! What a shame. Reminder * Tip is earned, not given * especially in a failing economy.

Authentic dishes! Delicious! Ordered the Peking duck, crab and corn soup, fish maw soup, gai lan and cantonese chow main. The food was hot and fresh. Staff was very friendly.

Worst Chinese restaurant in Chinatown

Traditional Chinese food. No extra decorations

The meat in my dish is spoiled. And they deliberately put unusually high amount of soy sauce and vinegar into the dish to mask it, but I can tell. And the fact that they put unusually higher amount of condiment indicates that they know the meat is spoiled and they are deliberately trying to mask the taste.

Good for late night eats now that many of the old faithfuls close early or have closed. This spot is a high price to portion ratio. I had a great wonton soup too.

I had lunch there today at 2 pm and ordered #129 Fried noodles with mixed Seafood. It was delicious, shrimp, squid and scallops with a bed of vegetables, broccoli, baby bok choy and some carrot! We usually get take out from this place and its always good. They specialize in cantonese style food with a focus on seafood dishes. I have enjoyed all the dishes Ive ordered here.

The service here is very quick and the menu options plentiful. There are many seafood options available and many different Chinese cooking options. The food is prepared well and is tasty. I recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for Cantonese style seafood.

Definitely a hidden gem and my family s favourite spot. The food is so fresh and delicious. The service is excellent and so kind and polite. The shrimp and lobster sauce is flavourful. Everything we ordered was fantastic! We have been coming here for years and will continue too!

The service here is not great so I had to take a star off, but now that Lee garden is closed this is the best food on the block. The lobster and Singapore noodles are a highlight. Skip the fried rice and get noodle dishes, seafood, and bbq duck.

This is not a fancy restaurant, this is a restaurant where if you want good food and quickly you will get it. The service is quick and well executed. You might not get a smiley server but they will give you what you need and what you ask for. We drive an hour to eat here and we would not go anywhere else <3

Excellent option for dinner after 9 pm

The dishes (Shanghai noodles, general tao chicken, etc.) are good portion wise but certain elements (larger noodles for the Shanghai noodles) could be changed. However, they do have great tasting dumplings with bonus cabbage on the side!

We ordered the thick noodles shanghai style.... got spaghetti noodles with some bland taste. Worst noodles we have ever had in our lives.

I dined here in April 2023. The food I ordered was literally microwaved! It was not fresh. Would not recommended eating here. The sanitation of the space was not great and the customer service horrible.

I was looking for chop suey, here I found it and it was very delicious, I thought the cost was a little high, but hey, I had the craving and it was worth it.

Just a late night place

Food was solidly good, nothing special but it was tasty and filling. Service was terrible with taking 20 minutes to get water and no tea after asking. Even one fork they gave us was crusty and gross. Restaurant was loud and didnt have good music. Decent choice if starving and things are closed but not a first choice.

LOVE IT. Street parking is a b*tch (cad$4/hour) but this spot is so worth it. I should ve rated it 4 coz the service wasn t the best BUT that s how it is in Cantonese restaurants if the service is good then it ain t authentic. While you are here and still have time with your parking drop by the souvenir shops and the asian supermarket. Wash rooms are available and they give ice water!! Tip you server well coz you do wanna come back to this spot.

The food is super tasty and big portion for the price. Seafood is amazing there. However, the service is very bad. I am Chinese and they treat me pretty bad. They sound annoyed and when I asked them about whats in the dish, the waitress said she doesnt cook the dish. Obviously she doesnt but you should know your dish. She didnt have to give me that attitude!

We ordered scallops, sizzling beef, and fried rice. The portion was big and the scallops were fresh. The bread nest for the scallops was very interesting, but crunchy and delicious. The beef was good but the fried rice was okay.

Saddest egg fried rice ever ! Period. Any Chinese restaurant that makes this bad an egg fried rice should never be allowed to be serve food. Attached pics for reference. It was just some dry rice & microscopic specks of egg at 14.50, woah !

Pretty much a typical Chinese resturant with a very fancy decor, and semi friendly staff mainly because.... that how they were raised in mainland China, and allot of the Chinese population have a stern personality to them! However food was top notch, and quick so overall a great experince!

Overall did not enjoy my experience here waiters are rude and don t speak English (not a problem until you include rude facial gestures)waited extremely long wait for water and our specific server refused to attend to us we asked for water several times and had to clear our own table what I ordered on the menu is not what I received it wasn t cooked properly noodles were hard and it said chicken fried rice and I got chicken skin or something I did not recognize in my noodles also they finally brought my water out and it had black stuff in it honestly tipped 1 cent you don t deserve my money and definitely WILL NOT BE COMING BACK HERE

I d not recommend this restaurant for English speaking customers, the staff is not very friendly and you won t be treated very well. Please make sure you speak Chinese before entering taste of China, otherwise you won t be respected appropriately!!

Review of Shanghai Noodle - I ve ordered take out in the past and it was pretty good, they re Singapore noodles are good, but tonight I ordered the Shanghai noodle from Uber Eats and as seen in other reviews it was horrendously inauthentic, they straight up give you spaghetti, not even remotely close to real Shanghai noodles. Probably the worst noodle dish I ve ever ordered which is a shame as other items on their menu are not bad. None of its fantastic but most of its decent just don t order the spaghetti

Great food, great portions but dishwsre/cutlery never clean (so we wipe down our cutlery) and the staff will even make eye contact and still not sit you or come by your table to check up on you.

its just horrible, we wanted to try chinese food and it was a terrible experience, we came and ordered a meal for me chicken in sauce and for my husband a dinner for one person, first they brought 4 dumplings with cabbage, although the soup should have come first! My husband started eating and I was sitting without my food, THE MAIN DISHES MUST BE BROUGHT AT THE SAME TIME!!!!! when I asked about the soup, the waiter started shouting that there should not have been 4 flatbreads but 1 and soup and snatched the food from my husbands hands and nothing explained! In adequate cafes, if the waiter has already made a mistake, he must apologize to the guests and calmly explain the situation and not snatch the food from his hands!!! Then he brought this soup and my food, but there was no longer any desire to be in this cafe and eat this food, it was just a desire ,so we left! this is the bottom!

This is the best late night post-going out Chinese food place on Spadina. We ve been to all of the popular ones some have given us ?food poisoning others have very average food. This place serves the best wontons and bbq pork at 3am it s crazy. Come here after going out in Toronto, you will not regret it.

Came here craving beef chow fun but it didnt hit. The other food was pretty good, for people like us who dont like super salty. Service is great. Theres one server who is always here and shes super sweet.

Did not like. Very bad service! I asked for water and there was an insect inside the glass. Then I asked for a soda and they didnt bring it. The food is bad. And they even forced me to give tips even though I didnt deserve it. I wasnt going to give tips, but the attendant said it out loud: NO TIPS? and she embarrassed me in front of everyone and I had to give tips. There are better places with better prices and better service in the area. Just search!

Great.. Going Again

Had a craving for Chinese food, specifically the deep fried squid. Enjoyed the meal! Got an order of chow mein, deep fried squid and yeung-chow fried rice. Good portion size, everything arrived piping hot, tasty overall and seemed freshly cooked. Edit: Dec 2022 - downgraded to 3 stars Tasted okay. Really oily. Portions are tiny and just filled with carbs (rice or noodles). Could be better
