Compact restaurant offering traditional Chinese cuisine amid easygoing surroundings.
My personal favourite was the Chinese donut rice roll. We also enjoyed everything else. A great affordable option in Chinatown. And I also liked hot they give you your HK milk tea in a to-go cup by default so you don’t have to finish it at the restaurant. Highly recommend! So many different rice rolls to try
Yin Ji Chang Fen in Markham offers a slice of traditional Cantonese cuisine, with its signature rice noodle rolls and congee drawing a loyal crowd, including my cousin, who swears by this place. While I can appreciate the care that goes into their delicate preparation, I found the dishes a bit too subtle for my palate. Growing up in the Philippines, I’ve always associated Chinese food with bold, vibrant flavors—a contrast to the lighter, understated approach here. The rice noodle rolls were undeniably well-made, with their silky, smooth texture and a drizzle of soy-based sauce that added just a hint of sweetness. I tried a variety of fillings, including shrimp, corn, and mushroom, but the overall flavor profile leaned too mild for my liking. The congee was creamy and comforting, topped with fresh greens, but it lacked the rich, savory depth I’m used to back home, where congee often comes loaded with flavorful toppings and aromatic spices. In the Philippines, Chinese cuisine has been deeply integrated into local tastes, often leaning toward bold seasoning and umami-rich sauces. It’s a fusion that brings out the best of both worlds—flavor-packed and satisfying. By comparison, the dishes at Yin Ji felt like they were missing that extra oomph. That said, if you enjoy subtle, authentic Cantonese cooking that highlights the natural flavors of its ingredients, Yin Ji Chang Fen might just be your kind of place. While it didn’t quite resonate with my flavor preferences, I can see why it holds a special place for fans of this style of cuisine.
The rice rolls are so delicious and always fresh. I’ve tried every roll, and they’re all so tasty that I can’t even pick a favourite! The food on their menu is offered at a great price too for the portions and quality that they offer. The restaurant has a lot of seating as well, which is a bonus!
Legendary. The fried noodle & bean sprouts for $6.50 are legendary - so good! And the crispy shrimp rolls w the sauce are out of this world. Incredible value quality and taste, we will be back over and over again.
Wow such a experience. Everything was good, portions are ok for one person and also if you want to share and try different dishes!! Which I highly recommend to! Chicken feet and dumplings were my favorite! Good service, nice atmosphere and super clean!
Having previously enjoyed Yin Ji Chang Fen at the Markham location near Markville Mall, I was pleasantly surprised to discover another location on Spadina between Dundas and College (downtown Toronto). Walking into the Spadina location was like meeting an old friend. I enjoyed practising my tentative Cantonese language skills with the staff and they were very patient and kind in maintaining our conversations to mostly (90%) Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) at my insistence. The duck rice noodle roll (鸭肉肠粉) was stellar, beautiful shreds of meat, no gristle, minimal fat (they way I like it). The rice noodle itself struck a perfect balance - not too thick so as to become gummy, and not too thin so as to fall apart - it was a perfect rice noodle roll. The fish porridge/juk (鱼肉粥) had lots of fish and was not fishy, the saltiness was also well-balanced - very good. The food was great, and the staff made it even better. The tastes of 广州 (Guangzhou) / 广东 (Guangdong) will always have a special place in my heart, and Yin Ji Chang Fen on Spadina reminded me why. 好吃, 多谢 !
This place is fantastic - really delicious rice rolls for really affordable prices ($7!!). I ordered the shrimp/king mushroom roll and it was delicious. They also have a HK milk tea that they serve in ice so it doesn’t get diluted. The vibe is clean, unpretentious and casual. The service is friendly and attentive. Really no complaints about this place. I’ll be back to try the congee!
Great selection of rice rolls and congee. Portions are big Edit: came back for more congee. Always pretty happy with the portions here. They also have some nice dim sum items on the menu, like lotus paste buns and egg custard buns. Edit: I’ve been here 3x 😩 Edit: my Gf and I come for breakfast at least once a month now. Very reliable and consistent
Delicious congee and rice rolls for a great price!
The pork congee was good and everything is affordable.
great place for cheap nostalgic food from hong kong. service was fast and food came out quickly. nailed down the atmosphere of hong kong s cafes
Amazing food and great prices. The Congee and rice rolls are so good. Highly recommend
Great accommodating place and good with instructions. Dim sum was ok, wish it was bigger and higher quality filling. Hence 4 stars. Not a bad late night option.
Simplicity is best. My go to place for some good old congee and rice rolls, and very fairly priced. They specialize in HK brunch, including brisket noodles and HK drinks.
no? What does it mean to order your Uber and not provide me with cutlery? I double checked to see if there is a checkbox for not providing cutlery but there is none. You want me to drink porridge like a drink and eat rice rolls with my hands like Indians? ? ? Is it okay for the takeaway staff to use snacks? ***Additional reply: If you are spanked, just stand at attention. I even said that I have confirmed that there is no option to not provide utensils. Why am I so weird and weird in posting a comment? It s really interesting. I can still wrong you. Cant? I went to Uber to check my order, but the mafia just found it and even sent my order number. I didn t know my order number. Who were I trying to scare? Restaurants have also been opened
Always the best comfort food
I like the congee, I like the fact that they re open early for brunch, dimsum is okay, noodle roll is okay, toast is good. Classic asian staple
My favourite spot for Guangzhou-style rice noodle rolls in the city. Classic, no nonsense, delicious.
I love dim sum and congees here. Price is very reasonable. Its a must-visit for anyone craving delicious, satisfying meals that wont break the bank!
Not authentic at all.
good unpretentious Chinese food
Bad service
Best bbq pork chang fen! Sad that Im leaving and cannot experience it until I visit again.
Came here 4 times, the final time I wanted dessert and drinks. Their cheung fun is okay but nothing special. The dim sum place down the street is the same. They kept pushing me to sit in the middle of the restaurant when its not busy. Giving me attitude on Thanksgiving Day too. Thats the crazy part. They pushing too much lying saying it will get busy so I took a picture to prove why I left. Its around 8 pm. It wont get busy especially i came here enough times. The server and owner have a stinky attitude. Expecting me to tolerate them walking past me with heat and stormy attitude. They arent cheap when you know how to make whatever they are serving. I decided to go to honeymoon dessert instead. This place give you selfish stinky eyes. Never coming back. I rather go to other places in the area. I have pictures to prove how rude the person was and kept pushing me around. So I simply LEFT after she kept harassing me to sit in the middle when itz not busy and she looked stupid at the end. Never ever coming back. So many empty seats and they were rude. Its cheap low quality food that you can make yourself anyways. She was so rude. I walked out with no regrets and people need to see they treat people who are rude if you look too nice. She looked pretty shocked that she cant manipulate me. Really rude behavior thinking I will listen and I came alone. I walked home pasting by the restaurant after I ate somewhere else and see its not busy at all. So there was no need for bullying me when I came alone.
As soon as I got in, we had to seat ourselves because no one came to us. the lady with glasses had this really bad attitude, and the food took a while to come . When we were about to pay the cashier made us feel stupid for lining up. When we got our food , the cashier threw the containers on the counter and then gave it to us later just really rude workers and it was my first time coming to this location. Will not be coming back.
The two service staff I met on the night of October 16th had the best service attitude in this Yinji restaurant. We were the last table of guests, and the staff waited for us to leave before mopping the floor. Thank you for not smelling bleach!
One of the best Chinese restaurants in the area, very authentic focusing only on rice noodles rolls. Simple dish but the ingredients are fresh. And the prices are very attractive. A must stop.
I think it s the perfect late night snack right after getting off the plane~ It was around 9pm, and the area around the store was quite deserted. Once we entered the store, there were not many empty seats left! If you like rice rolls, I really recommend it! I have been to this store in Guangzhou several times and I won t be disappointed~
Apparently this place has been around for a long time - decades, considering the high turnover of restaurants in TO that says a lot. Good food, quite spacious place. Very good prices too.
Appalling. The offerings are all very cheap, though sloppy, watery, and overall disgusting. There are many places which dont have in the name and casually carry better product.
Price: 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Wheelchair Food : 5/5
The service staff are rude ! Especially the girl in front of the computer at the bar. They dont have the basic culture of respecting others !
The restaurant over use too much plastic in their dish wares. Everything is plastic and they are using to serve hot foods, and drinks. Even the take out containers. I come here a few times they always pour hot tea in plastic cup. This is very toxic and will cause health problems and cancer. Can taste the plastic like when I was a kid had microwaved a cup of water. Yes, melting plastic onto food can be harmful. When plastic is heated to high temperatures, it can release toxic chemicals such as bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates into the food. These chemicals have been linked to health issues like hormonal disruption, reproductive problems, and cancer. Consuming food contaminated with melted plastic can lead to the ingestion of these harmful substances, which can then accumulate in the body over time. It is best to avoid any direct contact between food and melted plastic to prevent potential health risks.
I ordered a bowl of minced beef porridge. The total beef in the porridge is probably less than 3g. You might as well just sell me plain water porridge.
Their beef brisket is very well-seasoned and tender. Siu Mai is also a decent choice
We had the beef and prawn rice roll - prawns were juicy. Also tried the rice roll with dough sticks - tasted good as the dough sticks seemed freshly fried. The black sesame porridge was also nice. Great value for money and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean.
Love their congee and milk tea
Our Chinese food cravings were satisfied. Affordable prices and generous servings. Beef brisket Lo Mien comes highly recommended.
My go-to cantonese rice rolls and congee place in downtown that opens till midnight everyday. Congee is big enough for 2 people to share. The washrooms are surprisingly clean! Staffs are very nice.
Delicious pork and preserved egg congee, doesnt get better than this! The sticky rice was also very hearty and nice. Good Hong Kong iced tea. Food : 5/5
By far the worst soup dumplings I ve ever had. There was no soup in them and the dough was way too thick. My cheung fun also came cold despite being in their name lol. Order from here pretty regularly and I guess I ll stick to just congee here. Only thing acceptable.
Great rice roll and congee. It s worth your time and money; I would recommend. Love from Vancouver!
Ive been to this place 3 times now. The congi is flavourful but a little watery. The noodle rolls are good. They open at 8 am, which is bonus.
Really really good food
Authentic Hong Kong style cafe serving exquisite rice noodle rolls, congee and staple dim sum. It is a franchise of a well known HK establishment and preserves the quality back home. Highly recommend.
Their congee is amazing and great value 10/10 would recommend Food
Cheap and tasty eats. Classic congee breakfast place, fast service
I often order takeout. Sometimes there are tableware and sometimes there are not. I have chosen the option to ask for tableware, but today there is no tableware.
Great rice noodle rolls and drinks just like Hong Kong
Nice change fen and beef noodle plus their dessert is delicious. Best place to visit in chinatown.
The place on the outside may seem a bit sketchy at first, but once you go inside its a whole different story. It was well decorated with paintings, awards etc and it was super affordable! The chang fen options were like around $6-8 (which honestly shocked me because this place is located in downtown). I ordered congee and it came in a decent sized portion. But everything was around the same price as mentioned above. Overall Id recommend this place because its not everyday you find places with good pricing and good quality food! (Additional photos can be found on my profile) Vegetarian options: There were options on the menu that had vegetarian foods.
got food poisoning
Best congee I ve ever had!! Also really good rice noodles - that s their specialty!
The service was very helpful and fast! The food was very tasty. I would highly recommend the Fresh Rice Noodle Roll w/ Duck Meat and Chives and Pork Sliced Congee! Also, the Beef Brisket Rice Noodle Roll was soo tender and flavourful
Totally worth the trip to eat here all the way from the US!
Nice Cantonese food
One of my favorite breakfast place in Toronto. Delicious and affordable
I ordered Uber eats, it was cheap and quite delicious.
I have never been in person but often order the shrimp and chive rice roll, especially when there is a Bogo promotion on UberEATS. So reasonably priced, but best of all, food arrives hot and fresh and so very tasty! Travels very well, and add on a hargow and sui mai, both very good as well as the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves, it s the best dimsum Ive had compared to other restaurants in Toronto. Even though the rice roll is described as shrimp and chives, there s also other green vegetables inside that gives a nice crunch. Didn t love the beef congee, not because of flavour but the minced beef has some gristle in it. The classic congee with century egg and pork is very good, as well as their chicken congee, comes with tender slices of meat. Overall, fantastic place that is consistently good. I must ve ordered at least 10 times. Highly recommend.
The food was wayy too good. I think this branch does it best. Highly recommend the truffle rice roll and the black sesame paste. Where to go for rice rolls!! Food : 5/5
Food here is sooo good 3 menu items is enough to serve 2 people for only $20!! We were definitely stuffed and satisfied with the food. I believe if you pay cash you get a discount, which is what we did. I love how its not busy at all, a lot of these restaurants get so busy during the day so it was great finding one without the wait! Will definitely come back and try new things!
We were vey happy about what we ordered. Must try if you haven t!
Great food. Got my congee comfort food. And tried the mushroom rice rolls. Friendly fast service. Affordable prices.
Great food, great prices
Best rice noodles in town and congee is very good. My three year old daughters favourite restaurant.
Picture 1 Yinji s recent new product Longjiang Pork Knuckle Rice $13.99 Picture 2 Famous North York Haoji Longjiang Pork Knuckle Rice $9.99 This deserves to be called Longjiang Pigs Knuckle Rice?? Its just to fool people. Yinji is really gone. I wont go there again.
we love everything we order, congee, chong fan, noodles, yutiauw, dimsum...
A delicious quaint Chinese restaurant in downtown Toronto!
It s a staple of the area, they re open late and the prices are anti-inflationary. not cash only, but they have a cash discount so I always bring cash.
Great place for authentic Cantonese congee, Chang Fun (rice noodle roll), fried bread, Hong Kong style milk tea & more. We went in the morning to try its Top Scholar s congee (sliced pork, liver & kidney congee), rice noodle rolls with shrimp, mushrooms & truffle, sweet scruller & HK style milk tea. We were happy with all our orders in particular the fried bread (sweet scruller). Waitress was attentive though I m not sure if non Mandarin speakers would have problem communicating. Like most of these kind of eateries, deco was very par down.
Delicious food! The shrimp congee was very tasty and fresh! The shu mai and beef shu mai was also very good with a lot of filling. I also have a peanut allergy and the soy sauce they put on the rice noodle rolls does contain peanut oil but they put it in a separate container so that I could have the rice noodle rolls! It was very delicious and thoughtful of them! Dietary restrictions: Peanut oil in the soy sauce
Really enjoy their rice roll dishes. Given that it is a chain store, they are on the more pricy side. It s one of the better rice rolls that we have tried in dt locations.
What to say? Its excellent and inexpensive! We took 5 dishes together to try different things. We didnt regret it. We ate well for cheap. I highly recommend! Unfortunately, I didnt take a photo to enhance my opinion.
One of the best ratings in Chinatown and an extended menu. Atypical items like these marinated chicken feet, mmmhhh the good patounes with pointy nails, strange and tasty even if there isnt much to eat. The cuisine is tasty with lots of coriander for certain dishes. And above all, you know its not expensive, a main course, 2 extras and a dessert for less than $20 incl. tax, we were happy.
Came here for brunch everything was so delicious that I had to come back to order take out in the evening! The milk tea was good and strong (fresh, not instant), the rice roll delicate (we got the duck), and the congee flavorful!
One of the first restaurants I gravitated towards during school lunches. Also happened to be my parent s go to spot when they were students!
Was eating breakfast there, the waitress who has a short hair was talking really loud and rude, seems like she was arguing with someone. Also she has a bad attitude.
Traditional congee breakfast/ lunch food stall from street of Canton
Takeout quality not the same as in-store quality. Congee was so watery, it was almost a drink. I would not recommend doing takeout here. Maybe coming to eat would be better.
Dont order the fish one.
Loved how thin the rice rolls were and super chewy! I got the shrimp and chive but wasnt expecting lettuce in between the rolls. Service was great and it was super busy for Saturday afternoon. Theres a 5% cash discount available here!
Great place. How am I just discovering it now?! Id say a good place for a snack but not a meal per se. All items are snack-like, similar to a hk cafe. Staff were so busy but friendly and helpful. Food was tasty and generous portion and ingredients. Will be back!
Preserved egg congee was very flavorful
Went here for the first time with a friend visiting from Hong Kong. They were craving rice noodle rolls. The place has a lot of seating and was not busy when we went on a Sunday evening. The dim sum was not very good. Both the regular and beef siu mai tasted like it wasn t very good quality, maybe like if you were to get frozen dim sum from the grocery store. The pork buns were fine, coming from someone who likes these quite a bit. Nothing really setting these apart from other places that make them. The custard buns were the best of the items I ordered. I liked the salty and not overly sweet filling. My friend said the rice noodle roll was fine, but nothing special. They were also confused why it was served like one big blob and not as individual rolls side by side. The staff were responsive to requests when our table called out to them. All in all, if you re hungry and need some food and happen to be in the area, I think that s more what this is for.
This may be a little subjective but this is exactly the kind of food I love. It s like light snack which I had in my childhood back home. I randomly found it in China Town/Spadina and I didn t expect it would be this great and clean inside. It offers a wide range of options of food you can choose. Yumm
I was visiting Toronto for a day and I was so happy this place opens at 8:00 in the morning, and the food was delicious! The egg yolk bun was definitely not homemade, it was good but I wouldnt get it next time. The rice rolls were amazing, I hope I get to try this place again!
I walked past this and saw their menu looked interesting when exploring Chinatown, so I decided to try this out. We had a Chinese donut that s not commonly seen in Canada. Literally it means Ox Tongue Crisp and it has a little bit of sweetness to it. It was the best item we had from the meal. Lotus leaf sticky rice dumpling with chicken. It tasted alright, comparable to what you can get from T&T or Asian bakery. Congee with fermented egg and pork. If you like congee, you might feel disappointed. The congee was quite watery and I could not really taste the ingredients. Since this place s speciality is rice roll, we cannot miss it. We ordered a BBQ pork one. Perhaps, Guangzhou style is very unique and different from what you normally get from a dim sum, it was difficult for us to handle it with our chopsticks. Their rice roll was almost like a giant blanket covering the fillings. As a result, once we tried to pick it up with chopsticks, the fillings kept falling off. It offered a strong fragrance of spring onion as they put a lot inside. We could not really taste the BBQ pork, though. Hot soy milk, was not sweet, which I liked. This drink also exposed a problem ordering here. Customers were supposed to write our own paper on a small piece of paper. However, they did not have a number/ index for hot soy milk. So, we just wrote the whole name down. We will come back when we crave for rice rolls next time.
Delicious dishes, I really love their seafood with preserve egg and pork kidney congee, also the pork knuckle was very tasty. The price is reasonable.
Simple. Authentic. Fast. You eat you go! Love it!
Staff are rude delivery people and they are racist towards brown people. All I asked was to go to the washroom and they said it rudely that they allow customers only!
Staff are rude not cool!!!
They have 2 locations, one downtown and one uptown. The food here is very good , congee always tasty and piping hot, fish dumpling soup with soup the best I ve had and rice rolls that you ll always crave once you had them. One thing is that they are always consistent , great food all the time. I know this as I have ordered from them over 25 times and not once did I have an issue. Would highly recommend.
I felt like I was back in singapore eating HK food. It s not as great as if you were in HK but it s a close mark. If you re in Chinatown, I highly recommend. If you don t speak Mandarin, they are a bit curt but it s because their English isn t the best. They re very talkative and helpful in Mandarin.
The food was perfect for the weather(gloomy, cold and rainy) and so good. It also warmed us up from the inside. The food also came out real quick.
Dropped by for dinner a few weeks ago! Saturday ~6PM. The restaurant was full and we had to wait 10min to be seated. I was really excited to try this place as Ive heard great reviews from friends and online. They serve HK cafe style Cheung fun (rice noodle roll), congee, and other light dim sum type of dishes. I went with friends. I ordered the beef and chives rice noodle roll, HK style rice noodle roll, the seafood congee, and my friends ordered the BBQ pork bun, along with their own rice noodle rolls. I thought the rice noodle rolls were a big portion size and also tasted good. It was served as one giant roll versus some other places you might see it rolled up into smaller rolls. The HK style rice noodle roll was OK I personally prefer the one at Sugar Marmalade more because this one felt a bit too saucy in the wrong way... My friends enjoyed their rice noodle roll. For the BBQ pork bun....when it was served to us, it was cold and very obvious it had been going through a defrosting that wasnt finished. My friend noted that the filling in hers was cold as if it came out of the fridge without being heated. Mine and my other friends pieces were on the colder side of lukewarm. And for the seafood congee...the portion size and price were great. However, the seafood itself was very fishy and not fresh tasting. I was disappointed as I really love congee and this was unfortunately not it. Because the restaurant was busy, we were kind of being rushed to leave. We werent finished eating our food, yet the server was already trying to take the dishes (with plenty of food still on it) back and hand us the bill. We were timing our stay because we had plans to attend an event after eating, so it was kind of odd. It was not the greatest experience and I wouldnt go out of my way to come back again, but definitely a solid spot for Cheung fun.
Great rice rolls for a very fair price. I ordered dough wrapped in rice with dipping sauce, congee and steamed buns. Everything was delicious, perfectly hot and a great portion. Food
Ive been to this place so many times and they always greet you and help you any way possible even if theyre busy and their food is amazingly good. It might not be for everyone but its definitely one of my favourite congee places.
I fully enjoyed the food here. Good taste, good quality, good quantity, and good environment. Come to try yourself!
Best congee restaurant in my heart. Unfortunately the discontinued my favourite chicken feet dish but their congee is chef kiss oh don t forget their dumplings soup as well
The food is okay, but I waited at the door for a long time and no one paid attention. The female clerk was only looking at her phone and chatting. When she was given a seat, she was so embarrassed. What does this mean?
I ordered from Ubereats so have ranked the atmosphere as Ive walked by many times and service based on how prompt the order was filled, etc. The food was delicious! Tasty and authentic and unfussy. This will definitely be my new spot for comfort food. I ordered the minced beef congee which was savory and well-balanced with the right amount of peanut topping, ginger and scallions as well as the beef. I also ordered the shrimp and chive rice rolls which were delicate and delicious! The rice paper was thin and perfectly wrapped. Im excited to try more of the menu.
Clean restaurant and cheong fun/rice rolls are thin and delicious. Congee is best with a fried dough fritter (you tiao). Hong Kong milk tea is the best in Chinatown.
Everything we tried was perfect - delicate but hearty, perfectly cooked and seasoned. If there s no chili crisp on your table, ask for some. I think it s house-made and it s a special treat. Great value, too.
Had beef and shrimp rice roll, taste good!
The food was nothing special. The salty egg custard buns werent worth eating; dough tasted like play dough. Shrimp rice rolls were boring. Shrimp congee was fine, the best of the three, though I wish theyd removed the shrimp tails and heads.
I ordered oyster sauce lettuce for $10 at Ubereats, and they brought me a half-baked lettuce and a small portion of oyster sauce for me to mix with. . . . Lettuce in oyster sauce does not mean lettuce mixed with oyster sauce! ! !
The rice rolls were delicious. We got 2 rolls: fish with chives and shrimp & king mushroom with truffle paste. Each roll was stuffed full of filling and dressed in a tasty sauce. One minor complaint is that the rolls were slightly too thick for my taste. Congee came unsalted but once adjusted was such a comforting dish on a cold day.
Yummy in my tummy. Everything was so good. The salty custard bun was so yummy. Shrimp dumpling outer dough was perfect and the meat inside was the way Grandma made it back in the day!! Everything reminds me of Grandmas cooking that was made from the heart with love!
Delicious, affordable and yummy! The rice rolls are super hot and fresh - and the porridge/fried dough is an amazing pairing for a nice breakfast
Congee was average but the rice roll was delicious - service was quick and friendly.
Pretty good place for asian breakfast items. Really great price. Friendly staff as well.
Yummy food with nice environment
The noodles roll and snacks in this Chinese restaurant are delicious and the service is very good. The girl with long hair, in particular, recommended food I had never tried before on my first visit, and her service made the entire dining experience go up dramatically. The overall environment is clean and tidy, and the service team is efficient and orderly. Thank you for this wonderful dining experience and look forward to coming back to continue to taste the unique delicacies here.
Really good food! We ordered chicken congee, Chinese donut sticks, shumai, pork buns and dumplings. All of it was very delicious
Very authentic Chinese food. Cantonese style. Good service.
I have ordered and eaten at the Yin Ji Chang Fen College St. location many times and this is the best place to get a comforting meal that warms you up and makes you feel good all over. Located near College St. and Spadina, close to Kensington market and readily TTC accessible, there are plenty of places to eat in the area but this is definitely my go to. Now, be forewarned, its a small restaurant so if you cant get a table, you can always order to go or do delivery. Images provided here are from a recent delivery order. Okay, now lets talk food. Featured here are just a few of their signature dishes. I ordered their C4 Minced Beef Congee (love that it includes various toppings including peanuts, julienned greens, and chopped vermicelli) and C2 Fresh Beef Sliced Congee (this one does not come with peanuts, but lots of sliced beef, has a richer beef flavour). Congee, a rice porridge is so soothing and comforting. The congee itself is flavourful and both versions are savoury and delicious. We often pair it with the S6 Dough Stick but skipped it on this order and instead went for the S7 Sweet Cruller (think deep fried, a slighter denser dough that is just slightly sweet with a crisp outer shell). Some of us like to dip the Sweet Cruller in our congee while others prefer to just enjoy it plain. No order is complete unless you also get a few orders of rice noodle rolls. On this occasion, we got the R4 Shrimp with Chives Rice Noodles Roll and the R12 Sweet Corn Rice Noodles Roll. All rice noodle rolls come with a sweet soya sauce that just elevates these rolls to a whole new level. Images provided here show the rolls before and after the sweet soya sauce has been added. What you may notice is that these rolls are shaped a little differently. Unlike the more conventional ones you see at dim sum restaurants that come in sets of 3, here, larger sheets of rice noodles are used. They are so delicious and offer just a completely different mouth feel. Take a look at the images and you can also see that Yin Ji Chang Fen is very generous with their fillings. If youre in the area, I would strongly recommend giving Yin Ji Chang Fen a try. Or, if youre not in the area, definitely order in for delivery. The food is delicious and so comforting! Other goodies that weve tried include that are also delicious: R11 Dough Stick Rice Noodles, DC Cold Lemon Tea, C5 Lai Wan Style Assorted Congee, R2 Marinated Pork and Shrimp with Chives Rice Noodles,
The dimsum and rice rolls are soo good! Awesome value too, I ordered three dishes for one meal and it came to $20 or so before tip. Service was quick, they accept credit, and were hassle-free with splitting the check. Convenient to get to as well (right at streetcar stop).
Been meaning to go here for a while and finally did. I got the shrimp & chives rice noodle roll and minced beef congee. Both really tasty, filling, and cost effective! The congee was definitely improved by adding some salt to it, after which the flavours really popped. Overall great service, lots of seating inside, and food came out quickly. Looking forward to coming back again! Also theres a 5% discount when paying cash for dine-in.
Absolutely loved this place!! Very affordable prices, relaxed casual atmosphere, and most of all food is delicious and authentic dimsum fix. I like their order system of writing everything down so there is no miscommunication. Would highly recommend (: Also they give 5% discount for cash purchases as long as bill is not split!
When I came to pick-up my order I decided to stay there and eat it. I sat on the table and girl who worked there immediately came to me and said that I can not seat there and eat it. What is wrong with this place? I explained her that I bought it for myself . That was disgusting..
Rude waitress, food ok.
This place has great rice rolls. The texture of the rice rolls were great, and tasted awfully fresh made.
Delicious Cantonese food in town, highly recommended the Hongkong milk tea.
I have eaten here several times, and as a Cantonese, I highly recommend it. The beef brisket noodles and rice rolls both have a lot of beef brisket! Chili oil is very fragrant. I tried several rice rolls and the portions were quite generous. The speed is also very fast, highly recommended.
You can eat plastic in the rice rolls. I really didnt expect it... I almost thought it was because the vegetables in the rice rolls were older. I almost swallowed it, but luckily I spit it out. Im still scared now.
Food is delicious. Ordered the pork and shrimp with chives rice noodle roll and chicken congee the first day. The noodle roll was the perfect texture and not too thick and not too thin. My dad wanted to return the next morning so we tried the shrimp and king mushroom rice noodle roll and shrimp (unpeeled ) congee. Also very good. The servers were really nice to us both times. If you re dining in, you write your order using the pencil and paper on the table then one of the servers will come grab the order. This is one of the few places in Chinatown I could find that s open early for breakfast. Try it out.
The food was leaked, and the tea cup I brought had lipstick marks on it. I communicated with the waiter but there was no response. The hygiene service was very poor.
Great tasting food, good portions too. Only spent $21 for a full dinner. Great value!
They serve good congee! one of the best in Markham
Ordered congee and rice rolls, they are so delicious. Also two girls there had provided great service!! Would definitely go again!!
Good service, tasty food, and affordable price!!!
Probably the best congee I ve ever had. It s affordable, delicious and one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto
The food was great. I definitely come back.
fav
Great place for congee
Servers is unprofessional specially the young thin guy wearing glass is very rude he is talking disrespectful iam very disappointed
Delicious and quick service
delicious, refreshing,!! Amazing congee. And such a good deal.
The rice noodle roll, congee and sticky rice wrap are AMAZING!!!! The chili oil is perfect as well! Jason was extremely kind and helpful!
The siu mai was bad, it had an unpleasant smell, the congee was simple, adding a little salt made it better, the only good thing was the pork crepe, the rest was nothing remarkable. The attention in general is half-hearted. Its nothing like authentic dim sum.
My favourite place to dine at in Chinatown. I ate on my own before going to a show. I had the Beef Cheung Fun , Lai Wan Congee and a Ribena drink
best congee ive had in toronto for an excellent price. generous amount of pork and egg 10/10
Good place for a lighter meal. Congee and rice noodle roll is always good
Havent been to too many other cheung fun joints, i tend to default to this one
The Tingzi porridge is so delicious, the fish is so fresh, the saltiness is just right, no MSG, you wont feel thirsty after eating it, there are many ingredients, extra coriander is added, and the details are perfect. The beef breast cake is as delicious as the squid, and there is no trace of oil to dampen the taste. The egg rice rolls have a smooth texture, the amount of sweet soy sauce is just right, and the details are perfect. It s rare to find a porridge noodle shop with a higher standard in Hong Kong.
Best breakfast place on Spadina that also opens late at night. Food is 10/10 and super delicious. I am a regular at this place. Their congee serving size is quite large so I would suggest getting one for 2~3 people
Happy to have found the Ive been searching for everywhere ever since visiting Guangzhou a while back. Delicious!
The food is good Kid-friendliness: They gave my kids water instead of tea without our reminder Food : 4/5 |
has serious problem with food safety always have plastic from the food. I have met more than two times
Rice roll is average
Great place for the night
Highly recommend. Good service The food is excellent with what we have paid for. Food : 5/5
Tastes very authentic. Fish congee is especially good
Very casual dining experience. Ive been here multiple times and they never disappoint. The food is fresh and delicious, portion sizes are good, and most items are relatively cheap. We usually order one or two congees with a rice noodle roll and dough sticks - very filling every time. Theres a 10% discount if you pay with cash.
Visited here last week. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful when ordering. We tried so many things and there were all so good. The brisket noodles were delicious, the sliced pork congee was really good and I loved the sticky rice in the lotus leaf. We also tried the rice rolls, you should definitely try the truffle one. It s my favourite. They also have lots of drink options. I tried Hong Kong milk tea for the first time and I really liked it. Overall everything was delicious and I definitely would go back.
good
I like the service of this restaurant very much. Perfect place for dining. I loved the service of Wen. Keep it up
The foods and service were great at an affordale price
Family, who knows? After not ordering for a long time, I found out today that the custard buns have been changed from a supplier. They are not just half as delicious as before. The liquid inside has a rustling feeling and the aroma of salted egg yolk. Although I was given four in the past, I am now given three (but Each one is a little larger than the previous one), but the sweet and salty party really chops jiojio after inhaling the storm, Juejiezi ah
The congee is good. The chicken sticky rice is also good. I like their hong kong style hot milk tea.
Place looked renovated and clean and service was prompt as it was not busy. Ordered pork congee, BBQ pork rice roll and BBQ pork buns. Congee was pretty plain looking but tasty with decent amount of lean pork but definitely need way more ginger. Dimsum buns were just warm, not piping hot and with very little filling. Now the rice roll, expecting chives since its supposed to be BBQ pork and chives but theres probably just 2 strands of what Iooked like chives and the rest were lettuce? or choy sum, just some sort of vege and def not chives. Should just change the menu to pork and vege instead then, very misleading
The service was super quick! The food was delicious, we got the shrimp congee, shrimp dumplings, beef/shrimp noodle roll, shrimp/mushroom noddle roll, beef brisket low mein, fried dough and the Hong kong milk tea hot/cold. Highly recommend!
