Tasty food, cute drinks, amazing atmosphere, excellent service! We had the best experience at Pastiche. We did the 8 course signature dishes to try all farm, shore and garden. The 8 courses started with sourdough, butter and olive oil platter, and continued with Squash Carpaccio, Prosciutto Croquette, Lamb Tartare, Herb & Garlic Shrimp, Tilefish with Chimichurri, Picanha Steak with Papas Bravas, and finally the dessert. My favourite was the squash carpaccio surprisingly so. I loved the combination of sweet squash, nutty toppings, creamy ricotta and the hint of sourness from vinaigrette on arugula. Texture and flavours were so on point😍 It was a great start and the rest of the dishes were all extremely flavourful and very well portioned. The entire experience was elevated by very friendly and knowledgeable servers, and the dark and intimate ambiance. We loved the little private booth seat! What an awesome night to celebrate a birthday.
We arrived yesterday evening for the tasting menu and it was incredible! Vibes were just right at the restaurant, and the ambiance was relaxed. The flavours, textures, and portions of each dish were well thought out…and so delicious! Our servers were attentive and went above & beyond to explain each menu item to us. Above all, their attention to detail from the food, cutlery, and decor completed the experience. I would highly recommend Pastiche for any special occasion. PS. We were very full by the end. Portions were great despite some mixed reviews online.
Loved the atmosphere, the food, the service. Food was amazing, the waiter took his time to explain each dish to us. We got the seafood menu will definitely come back to try the meat one.
Made our reservation a month in advance after hearing great things about the dining experience at Pastiche and it was well worth it! My fiancé and I visited and shared the 8 course tasting menu with the cocktail pairings. The waiter began the evening by greeting us and asking if we had any dietary restrictions or allergies. We were not told what the courses would be ahead of time, only as they were being brought to our table were they announced. Our favorites were: -Squash carpaccio with chimichurri, soft cheese, and arugula -Tuna ceviche with pomegranate & plantain chips -Lamb tartare with crispy mushrooms and saffron -Sous vide beef with bone marrow and spicy potato Even sharing between two people as small plates it was SO much food and we left very full and very satisfied. Dining at Pastiche is a fun experience from start to finish, would highly recommend for those with adventurous taste buds!
Went for a meal Saturday evening. Made reservations 2 nights before and were sat at the bar which was nice because you got to see the bartender in action creating their drinks. The choices are 2 prix fixe meals options of 6 or 8 dishes with either Farm- meat, shore- seafood or garden- plant based. We were a table of 2 so we both had to have the same food choice. We opted for seafood. I would have liked to have a different option than my husband to try something else but that wasn't a big deal. Dinner started with a plate of 4 flavored butters, olives and marcona almonds with warm focaccia bread. Ceviche and plantain chips, shrimps, scallop toast, fish with herb sauce And potatoes. It all finished off with a dessert. Next was c
6-course tasting menu summary: Started off strong with a tray of small spreads with delicious warm bread. The beef tartar sat on spicy sauce accompanied by sour dough bread; I was in awe with the presentation of this one. The croquettes were small but powerful. Next were sausages with sauerkraut, which were unexciting to me, it felt dry and the sides were not enough to counteract the dullness. Onto the main, lamb sitting on celery sauce and a side of potato tapas. Cooked to perfection with edible bone marrow, and celery sauce was the perfect light addition. Lastly, was a delicious raspberry dessert with an overlaying macaron. The place itself is very cozy, dark and romantic vibe. However, almost a little too cozy with the table next to you. The entrance of the place is also not obvious, which gives it a speakeasy vibe, making it feel a little more exclusive. Overall, I think the beef tartar makes this tasting menu a little more adventurous… or maybe just me? Regardless, highly recommend this place for your next date night.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Came here with my girlfriend for our anniversary and had the absolute best time. The restaurant is very beautiful and has such a fun and artistic atmosphere. The drinks we had were amazing, I had the Nonna’s Negroni which was so so good. We did the tasting menu and were genuinely so pleased and blown away by all the different dishes and how tasty they were while also being presented so beautifully. The service was S tier and everyone was so kind and helpful. Since it was our anniversary the staff brought us a few treats on the house which was so kind and we were very grateful. Will definitely be back soon and would recommend to anyone! Thanks for making our special night so great!
We had an amazing time at Pastiche. From the mysterious entrance to the decoration, to the service and of course the food. Everything was great. We had the Experience menu for my wife’s birthday and it was delicious. Around 7 courses, each very different from the other. We spent about 2 hours there. Would definitely come back.
We had a dinner credit for 2 that we didn t get to use before they suddenly shut down. Owners that take deposits without providing a service don t deserve to be in business. Incompetent.
The experience was very disappointing. I received an email yesterday asking me to confirm my attendance. My wife and I traveled from out of town to attend. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed with no notice, email, or phone call. Several other people were also standing outside in the same situation. While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur, it is unacceptable to leave people hanging without any communication.
Unfortunately, we had a reservation on September 6th for a birthday, drove an hour from outside the city on recommendation from friends, got to the restaurant, and it was locked and closed.. not a soul in sight. No email, no phone call to let us know the restaurant would not be open. We have had this reservation for weeks, and there were others outside the restaurant in the exact same situation. As far as Im concerned, there is ZERO excuse for this. Literally ANY warning even 1 or 2 hours before would have been the most minimally courteous thing to do as a business. There is no reason that exists that would make me understand how a restaurant could just close and not notify existing reservations or at least post it on social media. No one was answering the phone or social media messages. Entirely inexcusable. Another person waiting out front told me he came one day and for some reason they didnt have their liquor license operational, so clearly, there are some management issues here. All I know is I will not be attempting to go here ever again, and I will make sure everyone I know does not eat here. What a SHITTY way to treat people and potential customers. Luckily, Ossington has a plethora of amazing restaurants (Mamakas, Union, Boehmer, Cote de Boeuf, Paris Paris just to name a few), I would definitely check out literally anything else but this place because you never know, you might show up and they are closed with no warning.
Closed without notice. No communication and $600 credit card hold. Terrible customer service. Will not be back.
Reservation for a birthday dinner with my girlfriend was cancelled a day before. Now I have to find something else super last minute. Very bad customer service and lack of professionalism from a high end restaurant.
Came here for a birthday a couple months ago. The food was good. The presentation was interesting (some dishes looked very unique). We had a tasting menu, so we didnt know what was coming. Overall we had about 6-7 dishes plus a dessert (everything shared). I liked that our server explained every single part of every dish plus paired wine with them. Seemed professional if I can say so. I give 4 stars for service only because it was busy and it felt like the servers were not giving us enough attention but, again, seemed like it was a busy night for them. Food and atmosphere 5 stars. Loved the interior. Very intimate.
Ill make a bold statement - Pastiche is the best bar in Toronto, hands down. Completely unpretentious, and next level service. Ive been 3-4 times, usually a month or so apart, and they remember my order every time I walk in the door. Theyre friendly, knowledgable, and my only goal in life is to love something as much as Matt loves describing cocktails. Perfect for a date, a casual drink, or getting together with a large group. Its a hidden gem, and other bars and restaurants should look at their service as an example. Looking forward to many more Thyme Squares and Gogo Juices in the near future. ***Also wanted to add, amazing pivot during the pandemic to make to-go cocktails through Nomad. Love everything that you all do!***
Nick was amazing, gave us exemplary service, the guys a gift to this establishment! The food was awe inspiring, maybe the best meal I ve ever had in Toronto. The lamb tartare was my favourite dish, a beautiful medley of flavours that I don t have the words to describe, MUST TRY!! Dietary restrictions: They were able to sub out the pork dish in the meat tasting menu
This popular spot can be a hit or miss for certain people. A lot of the dishes are creative and may not be for everyone. Reservation are recommended. A cool spot if youre looking for something a bit different and exotic.
Beautiful cozy atmosphere. Poor quality dish, lots of frying, sauce with commercial flavor, unrefined dish. $100 for a secret menu which is definitely bad. I really dont advise you
Its almost fraud Secret fish and seafood secret menu I understand that he doesnt give the menu in advance.. Tartar with mayonnaise and ketchup flavor 2 slices of breaded fish freeze, separate into three Cheese toasts that we never found the fish inside All without an alcohol license To flee
The seafood tasting menu was ok however it s definitely overpriced and very salty food. Mocktails (no liquor license) are overpriced and gimmicky: my drink came in a ceramic mini bathtub no thanks. Nice atmosphere and it s quiet.
A mixed experience. We each paid the 95 dollar price fix for a six course experience, but we got one small portion to share each course and two empty plates. Im familiar with smaller portions but it begs the question of what one of us would have received if we had only paid for one experience instead, as there is no way some of the dishes could have been divided in half. I also wonder if we would have received more if we had ordered different options for the price fix (such as one meat, one seafood, instead of both seafood). We noticed this during the evening but did not bring it up as we were having a good time and didnt want to argue money with staff, who were very nice, on our anniversary. I would describe the food as pretty good, but left us wondering if we only received half. We received two small complimentary drinks, which was nice. Overall it was a nice time but couldnt help feeling like we got fooled into being fleeced by a trendy Toronto spot for people with too much money.
Such a cute vibe and very interesting dishes
The food and the experience was sub par for the price, nothing out of the ordinary, but youre left with a hefty price tag in the end.
I had one of the best dining experiences at Pastiche in Toronto, thanks to Losh, Katia, and Zoë! The team was incredibly passionate about the restaurants concept and each dish they presented. I opted for the Farm Blind Tasting Menu, and the food was simply exquisite. The blind tasting concept put me at ease, and it was fascinating to learn how each dish was curated to complement the restaurants interior. Highly recommend this unique culinary experience!
It was an Incredible and unforgettable experience dining at Pastiche. Highly recommended! Food : 5/5
Some of the best cocktails in Toronto! Great moody/intimate atmosphere. Great service. Food : 5/5
The food was exquisite. We were slightly concerned about the reviews which indicated that people left hungry but we were quite full by the end.
Theatre! The performance of food!! Every dish was wow. The cod and scallops were outstanding along with the cocktails. Service is A1 5 star kindness. The falafel was soggy undercooked and disappointing. Leave that to Chef Romeo at Jerusalem. Highly recommend Pastiche!
Did the signature tasting menu. Really interesting, unique food and significantly cheaper than some of the other tasting menus in the city. Interesting cocktails as well. (My first involved burning a corn husk.) The only criticism is that there is actually too much food. Probably the first time Ive felt that way about a tasting menu. The main portions at the end could be halved. Excellent.
Really fun experience here! A little on the pricier side but worth the experience, you will be full after regardless. Also if you have difficulty making decisions, this is great because you only have to choose an option when you book and that s as far as you need to think. Full video on IG.
They really brought it in a bathtub
Fantastic experience! Quirky and mysterious. The food experiences were great (they made a Lamb tartar. My wife hated lamb and she loved it!) I had tge 5 drink experience pairing (well worth it). Well done Pistache!
Finally got to experience Pastiche after years of it being on my list of places to go. It did not disappoint, everything from the food to the atmosphere was top notch. The service was so welcoming and prompt. I can t wait to be back!
Fun and creative drinks. Cool vibe
The atmosphere, the food, and the service was excellent. It gave a speakeasy vibe. We chose an 8 course meal. All of the food tasted flavorful and was a fusion. I would definitely come back for another time.
Highly recommended for a special date night! Superb food & service. Make a reservation ahead of time. Although space is cramped, I liked it as it was cozy. Really liked their cocktails too. Also price was reasonable considering the variety and quality of dishes with generous portions. Will visit again! +it took us a while to find a public parking spot. Found a parking lot abt 10mins walk from the restaurant. Make sure you come early if you drive. Not easy finding a spot in the evening.
Nestled along Ossington Avenue, this restaurant epitomizes its slogan: For the Curious & Festive Souls, Curators of Memories. Our experience was nothing short of incredible. Opting for the tasting menu, a blend of their Farm, Garden, and Shore offerings, accompanied by delightful drink pairings, we were impressed by the culinary journey of exquisite. Each course was artfully crafted to tantalize the taste buds. The warm bread and butter flight, a delightful surprise, elevated the dining experience to new heights with its incredible array of flavors and textures. The ambiance, quaint and chic, added to the charm of the evening, creating an atmosphere of warmth yet social. It was a truly unique and unforgettable experience, an ideal choice for celebrating a birthday or any special occasion. Portions were generous, ensuring no one left hungry, while attentive service added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Without a doubt, this restaurant has earned its place as a cherished memory maker, beckoning curious souls to return time and time again.
Excellent cocktails
The atmosphere of the restaurant is mysterious and exciting, loved the overall theme with the paintings and the menu style as well. The tasting menu for land started off strong with the dips and the wagyu tartare, but it went a bit downhill going on from there. Some food didn t have any interesting flavours or felt heavy. Even the venison main was lacklustre. The drinks were great though, the staff were nice, and I really enjoyed the ambience.
First time tried blind menu and liked the concept when you dont know whats coming next. Service was fast and we had plenty of food. Really like the dessert, which looked cigars with ashtry.
We went in for the valentines day experience and it was our first time. Had a great time. The vibes were great, the food was great and the service was amazing. We actually loved the appetizers more than the mains but still a very good course. Would recommend if you want to try a new spot for a good date night!
What an amazing evening. The food., staff and atmosphere was outstanding. The food experience is by far the best in the city.. I will come again and again. Bravo!
Our bartender, Matt, was the most educational and enjoyable bartender Ive ever had the pleasure of experiencing. He made my birthday night super special with the bits of knowledge he had about literally EVERYTHING he served me. Highly recommend this spot!
didn t want to seat us at 11:25, even though an 11:30 open table reso was open. there were 6 available seats at the bar, told us we couldn t sit there because our party was too large. host also had an attitude. been here a few times, but this one sour experience ruined it for me.
Definitely a really lovely dining experience that I haven t had in Toronto before! We did the farm blind tasting menu and my partner and I were quite happy. It s really fun getting to experience the kitchens creativity and unique menu. I had lots of combinations of flavours that I have never thought of pairing and the presentation was beautiful. The service was also excellent - everyone was really nice. To start they served us citrus marinated olives and seasoned almonds. Next was sourdough with various compound butters that got our appetites going. Then we were served a play on a caprese salad with stracciatella (my favourite). There was some Asian fusion flavours in this that I would never have thought of doing myself, such as some wasabi and nori with the balsamic reduction. We loved it. Next was a braised chicken app that was really full of flavour. I can t remember the base of the ingredients but we loved it. Light and full of flavour. After that was a pork filled arancini like app - I can t remember what they called it but we also really enjoyed this. It had a side of Gorgonzola crema which wasn t pungent but super balanced. Flavour combos I ve never had before! I think this was my favourite. For the main we had a sous vide venison in a Dijon crust? on a horseradish crema with a raspberry reduction and garlic confit and a side of potatos bravas. It was cooked perfectly and again, all these flavours were so delicious together. Finally for dessert a tarte de Santiago, Spanish almond cake which was REALLY GOOD. I ll probably be thinking about it tomorrow. Would definitely return in the summer and would love to try the veg tasting menu with seasonal summer produce! I recommend this restaurant if you want to splurge, have a special occasion and are in the mood to have a surprise meal :)
Did the drink pairing with the farm menu. Good food and drink combinations. Also sampled some cocktails that were not part of the drink pairing as well. Service was very attentive and everything was explained well. Bar staff are great with their recommendations as well. Had a great time. Will be back.
I walked in and they found a place for us. Great drinks and delicious and unique snacks. I m going back for the full experience. I loved the vibe, this is perfect for a date
I like
Was really looking forward to this dinner, reserved in advanced. I feel the experience was hyped up online. The food was not good. NOT GOOD. The servers were great and friendly. But the food is not worth the price.
Came here from TikTok, Erin was our server and was *super* available/friendly/just right. The staff are knowledgeable and a good mix of causal but professional. I would probably trust them with my life. Beef tartar was my favourite, and the Avant Garde was my fave drink (if you like Aperol Spritzes and sourness try this). Only thing I would say is that if you re prepped to spend 65$x2 it s extremely easy to stack onto that and literally more than double it with drinks/tax/desert/tip, but ultimately worth it as a treat and I will be back to try their menu as it changes. Will also ask for Erin. 5/5
Horrible service from the start of our arrival, extremely dissatisfied and would not recommend!! My group had reservations, had arrived five minutes early and still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated! A group of three came late to their reservation and had requested to be moved to our booth which was allowed by the hostess !! Not to mention our table was not wiped down before we were seated. Our party of four was squished right next to the door and every time someone came in or out it got freezing cold to the point where we had to keep our jackets on. The hostess was inattentive, not just our group but many groups were left waiting at the door for a long period of time. He tried to make a joke about our situation however it was just distasteful. Looked like he was on his device throughout the night and disappeared a lot to talk to other workers. The food was mediocre for the price, however there was such a large gap in between meals that our food came cold most of the time. The ambience was nice but would not recommend for a date night. I was practically screaming over the music to talk to my friend right across the table. Also didn t appreciate how the waitress didn t write down our allergies, sorry but I am not impressed by your memory if it could cost me an allergic reaction especially if you had us repeat it multiple times.
A lovely experience with impeccable service. They were so gracious in accommodating the food intolerances for our dinner companions. Love the ambiance and the juicebox cocktail is such fun! Only minus was that the dessert seemed overpriced at $16 each for a slide of cake. Would be nice to have a small dessert as a part of the 6-8 course dinners.
Got a reservation and had the seafood themed blind menu. Really enjoyed the experience, the food tasted great and was plated in really cute ways. We showed up while they were short staffed and very busy so we had to wait longer for our seats but the owner/supervisor was very apologetic the whole time, felt like he really cared to give us a great experience and really appreciated it all around.
Ok.. let me start by saying that the overall experience was good, the place is funky and inviting, music & atmosphere was great. The staff was super polite and pleasant. They have original and delicious cocktails however, the wine was a bit ridiculous, they only have a 3oz or 5oz and that will be $26. Ive been to a lot of fine dining and never heard of that. The waitresses brought the courses and explained what it was, checked how we like it, very attentive. The courses were coming in one after the other, maybe 2 or 3 min after we finish the previous, it was very nice. Our last course took a bit longer to come, we waited about 15min and when it came we started eating and a minute after one of the waitresses comes with a digestif and informed us that unfortunately our table was booked for the next guess in 10 min! Uummm. I am still having my first bites of my main course and they are kicking me out? That was never informed when doing the reservation or on the phone when they called to check about the menu or when we arrived there. I was not aware that there was a limit of time. Maybe if the last course didnt take so long this wouldnt have happened. I was not able to have dessert or anything else, i felt super rushed and unwanted there. They took our coats when we arrived but didnt bring them back, we had to go look for them and couldnt find it, it was a big mess in the coat rack... well, what can i say, i dont regret going, the experience was nice but the end just left a bad taste in my mouth. Definitely not a place to go back. Wish they didnt over book so this wont happen again.
If youre looking for a dining experience that is good, fun, and not annoying, and also combines fantastic food with the right type of service, look no further than Pastiche in Toronto. My partner and I had the pleasure of dining there tonight and were satisfied by the feeling of the experience. We didn t waste time picking out a series of dishes that might express some undiscovered creative aspect our psyches, and somehow, the delicious dinner seemed to be tailored specifically to our tastes and preferences. The menu at Pastiche is a smear of contemporary cuisine, offering a range of innovative dishes that are truthfully crafted using familiar flavour themes without the need for a finicky menu. An artful mix of flavors and textures, plus the seamless service provided by Matt and the rest of the good-looking staff, every detail was pretty sweet. I m not the type to bother about expertly crafted cocktails, so I appreciate that Matt went above and beyond to create the drink that I asked for: gin and soda with a cucumber. It was also visually stunning, because the garnishes were what I wanted, not some weird twist. In conclusion, if youre looking for a dining experience that will leave a lasting impression, I highly recommend Pastiche. You will leave feeling satisfied and impressed, and most importantly, not annoyed. Yeah
Delicious meal, great atmosphere and superb service. Our meal was well thought out, with excellent preparation using quality ingredients. Great value.
Probably the best dining experience Ive had since the pandemic so were talking 4 years baby. Impeccable service, food and drinks throughout. Dont sleep on the espresso, the machine is top notch. We opted for the 8 course blind tasting menu but could only get through 5 because the portions were so generous and nothing was left uneaten lol. Our server gladly offered to pack up the rest of our courses and it tastes just as good this morning! Well done Pastiche!
We visited Pastiche last night as a group of 4, immediately after being welcomed we were shown the direction to the washroom and they reviewed our allergies that were listed on the reservation, we really appreciated the gesture. The multi course meal was great, they always brought out an option for myself with the allergies, sourdough bread with the truffle butter was wonderful, but the final course, the 18 hour short rib, that was delectable. It pulled apart so easily, the red pepper paste and hummus complimented perfectly. And the slightly smashed potatoes were awesome! Drinks were very good as well. Definitely recommend this restaurant experience!
If I could give them more than 5 stars I would have done so. Amazing service. Lovely atmosphere. And probably the best dishes Ive had in Toronto so far.
Tasty cocktails and even better vibes. A must visit in Ossington!
it was a great experience and food was tasty!
We tried this place after it was all over social media. It s reservation only fyi. We tried the experience menu. Everything was really delicious and we left very full. I think it s worth the money. Some reviews said that the food came out luke warm but all the dishes we had made sense that it came out warm and not piping hot. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic night out or a nice night out with friends.
Amazing place for some great cocktails. Also great ambience
Pastiche is hands down my favourite cocktail spot in Toronto, and truly a hidden gem among gems on Ossington. From the ambience & decor to the drinks & food to the staff, everything about this place sets you up for a magical and intimate experience that is incredible every single time. It s a fantastic spot for a cozy date night or a night out with friends. The cocktail menu changes regularly but they always have something to please everyone. Each drink on their menu is hand-crafted from seasonal ingredients and original & high-end liquors to create a uniquely extravagant taste sensation. The food menu pairs perfectly with their drinks, and they even have personalized dining experiences where the staff will customize your tasting menu. Be warned this place is for adventurous eaters and drink connoisseurs. The bartenders and servers really know their stuff and will take incredible care of you if you are willing to try new things and explore new flavours. If youre looking for a pint of Budweiser and boring bar snacks, maybe this isn t the place for you. But if you want an experience like no other, you MUST come to Pastiche!
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend and I had shore options. Food was very tasty, great portion, service was attentive and friendly. Very cozy place. Highly Recommend!
Great restaurant, atmosphere and food! Each course is unique and creative. Definetly recommend.
Went to this place through recommendation of a friend. There are so many things to love about the restaurant -- the attention to detail on its interior, the beauty and taste of the food & drink, and the wonderful staff! Zoe made the experience amazing and incredibly smooth from reservation to departure from Pastiche. She and her team coordinated the timing of the dishes, the drinks, and the check-ins so well. They also have quite the selection on in-house liqueurs and drink creations, from burnt corn tequila to nocino. Ill definitely go again and recommend to others!
The past negative reviews are Moot points. This place is a Gem. Is it expensive? Yes. Do you get high quality food that is loved, designed and could be called art to whoever subjects it as such. YES. The food is divine. The space is funky. The drinks are unique. It s a 5 star experience and that s all there is to it. Toronto is expensive. If you re going out - expect to pay for what you get. <3. I realize I haven t described the dishes. No need. I ll let the photos do the talking. It tastes BETTER than it all looks (and it looks damn good).
Fantastic experience. We had the Farm menu, amazing food, creative cocktails and charming staff. Definitely dine again
My fiancé and I went to Pastiche for our 5 year anniversary this weekend, and to say that it was an incredible experience would be an absolute understatement. To start, the aesthetic/decor of the restaurant is upscale and very beautiful, but the vibe is still non-pretentious and welcoming. With our reservation, we were seated quickly - the host kindly took our jackets for us - and our server, Katia, showed up immediately. She was amazingly attentive, friendly, and helped to provide an unforgettable dining experience. She confirmed our menu preference, which was the Garden (vegetable based) option. Within moments of sitting, we were brought one divine dish after another each one was both a stunning and bespoke work of edible art that had us both blown out of the water every time we took a bite. I don t want describe too much, so as not to give away any surprises, but I will say that there was a fantastic and magical range of textures, flavours, and ingredients across all the dishes. I admittedly cannot recall how many courses there were, but I can say that we were stuffed by the last course. So stuffed, in fact, that we decided to decline dessert all the more reason for us to return again in the future (to also try some of their famous cocktails). With that in mind, the flat-rate pricing for this very special experience was - in my opinion - appropriate, affordable, and worth every penny. Thank you, Pastiche! We will be back!
8 course meal. Everything was beyond amazing. Insanely great service.
Came here with my boyfriend on Friday and were blown away by the food, drinks, atmosphere, and of course service!!! Our server Katia is an angel!! She made us feel very welcome and gave the best drink recommendations. Definitely will come back for that tartare and the Persephone s garden ;)
Top 5 meal experiences of my life. Thoroughly delicious. Come hungry and do the tasting menu. Also try the cocktails. I had the mirepoix cocktail. Amazing. Also, we said we were ok with spice when booking and our palates were wonderfully warmed. I could go on. You won t be disappointed.
The ambiance is great. Started off the with meal with some very impressive dishes. The beef tartare was an absolute favourite, spicy but with a hint of sweetness. The fried mushroom on top gave it much umami. The fried patates with the homemade aioli was unique, crispy, and introduced new flavours to the pallet.
Went there to celebrate my birthday and when we got there, I thought I would be disappointed with the service as it was very busy. Ive read the review before and some reviews were bad but most were great. When we sat down, we were instantly greeted by the bartender Jake (who was absolutely fantastic!!) He made us feel so at home and he answered every question we gave him. He also gave fantastic drink options. My personal favourite was the bramble on! The food was hot and fresh. Each bite had a different taste profile that I really enjoyed and the staff was well informed on what they were serving guests. The atmosphere was something I never experienced before as I am not from the downtown core. Very well done!! Will definitely have to go here again! Great job!
Disappointing dinner for 5 We went to Pistache on March 4 at 10pm. This reservation was booked through Open Table. We were very excited as the online reviews looked amazing. I am a very adventurous eater so I was excited to try some new dishes. Upon arriving we were in love with the decoration and the candlelit vibes. It was nice to be offered sparkling or still water once we were seated. We each ordered a different signature drink, the presentation of the drinks was neat, one served in a little bathtub, one in a plastic juice box and one with edible flowers in it. The Bramble On is the one I personally had and it tasted good and had a neat presentation with a smoke bubble on top. Then the food service started; the dishes were described to us by our very nice server named Zoey. The music was a little loud to hear clearly what all of the ingredients were in the dishes but she was patient and repeated herself. The bread and flavoured butter was a great appetizer and start to the meal. But then, each dish that came out was filled with random ingredients that did not go together. The raw tuna was on a bed of soft cheese and had pomegranate, figs, jalapeños and spices. These things just did not mesh, although it did not taste disgusting, it did not taste good. Dish after dish came out and each was the same, lots of ingredients that just did not pair well. Everyone liked the potatoes and the majority of the table liked the short rib. We did not finish any of the dishes that we were served. We said thank you to the server, paid our bill (almost $600) and then walked outside to get our Uber. The man that was behind the bar followed us outside and asked us how our meal was, we at first did not want to share our feelings but he insisted. We were very honest with him and told him that we did not enjoy the majority of dishes but did tell him the things we did enjoy. Our Uber pulled up and we left at 12:05am. Two out of the five of us felt unwell after the meal. We discussed that we would post an honest review on the internet as the majority of reviews we had read we did not feel were accurate. This morning I went on Open Table to write a review and discovered that I was unable to write a review as my reservation was cancelled at 1:09am. I am sure that they did this so that it would block our honest review. I contacted Open Table and showed them our receipt to prove that we did attend our reservation. They said they would be contacting Pistache to let them know that this was not acceptable and that I would be allowed to write my review. I am just disgusted with the behaviour of this restaurant. I wonder how many reviewers they have blocked.
It was a no for me. Lovely waitress good service, but the food was just not hitting the mark. I m very open minded when it comes to food but the pairing here was very off. Great Instagram photos, but all 5 of us were very underwhelmed with the food, in fact most of it went uneaten. We did not complain once as we understood it was a blind menu and more about the experience, until we got accosted outside the restaurant waiting for our Uber where a man who worked for the restaurant demanded to know if we enjoyed our meals. We uncomfortably told him it wasn t our thing but there were things we enjoyed about the experience. We went to go write a review on open tables only to find our reservation canceled so we couldn t write a review! This is extremely unethical as we paid a lot of $ for a dinner we didn t enjoy and they tried to silence our voices by deleting our reservation as if we had never been there. So to sum it all up. Way over priced,(even for Toronto) food was questionable, and there practices unethical. Complete thumps down for me. *No reflection on Zoey the server she was lovely.
Really delicious food. Very cool place as well.
All the servers were very pleasant. Came in a group of four for the tasting menu and the team was able to accommodate all the dietary restrictions. Unique cocktails and AWESOME music in the background! One star off for a very non-forgiving reservation guidelines.
A friend and I dined here on a Saturday evening with an 8pm reservation at the bar. When we arrived we ordered a cocktail. About 20 minutes in we asked if there was a wine list. The bar tender explained that there wasnt a permanent offering so there was no list but we could order a bottle from their current stock and he would have some one discuss options with us. No one came over. About 20 minutes after that, we asked to speak to someone about getting a bottle of wine for our meal. We ordered a nice bottle ($140) which sat at the bar decanting for at least another 10-15 minutes. It was after 9:00 pm before we had our first sip of wine (of which we had to ask for it to be brought over)...at first sample, it still needed time to open up. Eventually the wine became tolerable and we began to eat our meal with the wine. Note, this is not a 1 star review because of the wine... thats the background info. At 9:50 pm we were told we needed to settle our bill and leave. We were barely half way through the bottle and the restaurant was not full so we continued to eat the remainder of the food and sip our wine but we did settle our bill and tipped generously via card payment. Then again about 20 minutes later, with the restaurant still not full, we were told by the bar tender that patrons called and were on their way and he needed time to clean the bar. We both still had a full glass of wine and there was seating for 4 available plus the larger table at the back. While I can appreciate table turnover, I do not believe anyone was on their way and I believe we were treated rudely and forced to depart and either the leave the wine or chug it as we were not even offered a standing area to finish our wine. On the way out, a staff member or owner followed us out to the street and attempted to justify kicking us out by reciting the restaurant turnover and reservation policy at length. I told him that while I appreciated turnover you should never force a customer to abandon or chug a $140 bottle of wine. We were waiting for an Uber for about 10 minutes outside... No one entered the restaurant. At this point, the whole experience was ruined for us and in the Uber ride we agreed we would not return or recommend the restaurant. At this point, we just made the choice not to return. It was not until I noticed in my email that my reservation completed through OpenTable was cancelled by the restaurant the following day. This means I am not eligible to submit a review on OpenTable!!! When I glanced through the recent Google reviews I saw that I am not the only one who was given a talking to on the street after departure and then had my reservation cancelled/deleted. I have also reported this OpenTable. This was by far the rudest I have ever been treated at a restaurant. At a base requirement, wouldnt the Smart Serve education conflict with expecting 2 people to consume a bottle of wine in under 1 hour? I suspect the OpenTable review average is falsely inflated because they cancel the reservation records preventing poor reviews for customers that have unpleasant experiences...which is validated when the staff/owner follows you to the street to get immediate feedback. Never going back.
Amazing experience. Food/cocktails and atmosphere are fantastic. Cayla and Kristen will take great care of you!
I recently visited Pastiche, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. The food was sub-par at best, and the drinks were mediocre. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, the service was extremely slow, and we had to wait an unacceptably long time for our food to arrive. To make matters worse, we were rushed through our meal and even asked to leave before we had finished our last course because the restaurant had another reservation coming in. The final insult was that our dessert was packed in a to-go bag, which felt embarrassing. The bar did offer us 2 drinks on the house as a way to make up for our experience, which was a nice gesture. However, even with this compensation, I was extremely disappointed with the overall experience at Pastiche. The poor quality of the food and drinks, along with the rushed service, overshadowed any attempt at goodwill. I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning in the future.
You go to Italy or France and the food is so simple, fresh and delightful. This food isnt like that.
This was such an awesome spot. We had the shore experience, 6 courses of seafood based dishes. All of the dishes were delicious. The drinks were pretty good but they were mainly for show for the price. The inside of the restaurant is also really moody and cozy. Will definitely be back.
Went with friends for my birthday. We didnt talk for most of the time we were there and there was food on the table. We have never, ever experienced food like this before in our lives. To start, the place is smaller than I thought it would be, given all the hype around it, but it is very, very nicely decorated. The staff is fun, friendly, amazingly helpful and so sweet. The drinks are fresh and sublime - our favourites were the Bramble on and Pelon. Now... the food: There were 8 courses.... all of them are so beyond delicious that Im salivating remembering how good it was as I type this. I got Garden....The veg ceviche..... wow! I do NOT like eggplant, and I ate ALL the eggplant in the main dish. My friends got the Shore and Farm, and there was actual eye rolling at our table at how good the food was from those dishes as well. Warning: we actually half-napped in the Uber on the way home and had to take a 30 min nap after we got home because we were in such food comas! I very highly suggest you book this restaurant at least once to experience the incredible flavors that come out of that kitchen and that bar... and KEEP coming out...for EIGHT courses!!! SO well worth it.
What an incredible experience! I recently visited Pastiche for dinner with a friend. We chose the shore menu and were not disappointed. The six courses were all delicious - especially the tuna dish and the octopus salad. Make sure to arrive hungry, as the portions are larger than you would expect from a tasting menu. For cocktails, I highly recommend the Persephone s Garden or checking out the zero-proof options. Our service throughout the evening was attentive and friendly.
Earnest staff, good service, and good food! Thanks for being the best restaurant in the Ossington area. All the other Toronto restaurants need to support this place and learn from their example. Thank you!
Absolutely one of the best dining/drinking experiences of my life! Matt is a legend!
Had their Signature menu with a party of 6. Smooth and enthusiastic service by Kayla(?), she was attentive without being overbearing - we werent interrupted too often but we felt taken care of. After ordering the first round of drinks, I appreciated that the non-drinkers in our group were given complimentary non alcoholic drinks, it was a nice gesture that made everyone feel included <3 We also appreciated the complimentary digestif, their house limoncello. Food was plentiful, we were all more than full afterward and even had to take some leftovers home. The quality of the food, cocktails and atmosphere/aesthetic were great overall! Pleasant experience! Well worth the $150 or so I paid ($85 for signature menu + $30 for drinks + 20% auto gratuity + tax)
The food is must! One of the best tartars in the city!!
Immediately upon walking in, I was impressed with the atmosphere Pastiche created. The decorations are quirky with an air of mystery. The hostess seated us promptly by the bar and offered to take our coats (we opted to hang them on the hooks under the bar). We were given some delicious olives and nuts to munch on while we waited for our first course of the Signature Menu. The dishes were creative and crafted with care. They were not afraid to experiment a little with either the food or the drinks. The cocktails were $15 each, a very fair price in todays economy. Because of the risks they took, they didnt always hit the mark. The bathtub cocktail looked whimsical and fun, but tasted very diluted. The tiramisu butter didnt have any notes of tiramisu. The beef tartare tasted a bit heavy and oily because of the chili oil at the bottom. The crust on the fish overpowered the natural flavour of the fish itself. However, the majority of the offerings were amazing, and Im simply nitpicking at small areas of potential improvement! My favourites were the pie at the end and super tender beef rib. Also, there was more than enough food - I had enough for lunch the next day! The best thing about Pastiche is the service. The amount of attention and care we received was phenomenal - we were constantly being checked on to make sure that everything was okay without being intrusive. The servers explained the dishes well, and were a pleasure to interact with. Overall, an excellent experience, and Im looking forward to coming again.
The food was excellent! The vibe was very cool yet dark, mysterious and cozy all at the same time. The service was beyond excellent - Everyone was chill, friendly and passionate. You can just tell when someone loves their work! Also, thank you Kayla for a stellar drink recos!!
Utterly lovely experience. Service, vibe and decor was top notch. Food and presentation was lovely. The surprise menu added to the date night experience for sure. As lovely as the food was (no complaints at all), it didnt have the extra wow factor that would have gave it a 5 star rating from me. Highly recommend you experience it for yourself.
Had been waiting months to dine here and admittedly was abit disappointed. We went for the seafood menu. I loved the fried octopus dish. The bread platter with the various butters were also beautifully presented. The main dishes, however, were disappointing. The halibut was mushy and the potatoes were nothing special. If it werent for the exceptional service that gave us free tasters/digestives on the house, the rating def wouldve been alot lower. The decor is also interesting? Its giving church The experimental cocktails were cute and funny. We got a gin highballer served in a bathtub. Hilarious creative presentation but average taste.
We had an amazing meal and experience at Pastiche. Huge shoutout to Kayla for making our night so memorable! She had the best cocktail recos and was so attentive and knowledgeable, and elevated our experience. All around amazing food, staff, and atmosphere!
Went there for a girls night and had the best time. Great ambience, amazing food and has a chic vibe. Tried the farm and shore explorer blind tasting menus and loved all the courses. Highly recommend it!
This place is impressive. Service stood out the most, our server was always checking in with us and did a great job explaining the food we were receiving. The ambiance is excellent, very intimidate candle lit setting. Good cocktail options. I tried their rendition of an old fashion and a negroni and both were great. The old fashion came with this burnt floral garnish that had me thinking why doesn t everywhere do this? , what a small touch that significantly improved the experience. The lounge seating was luxurious and comfortable, and the music was great as well. Upbeat, melodic Jazz music created an energetic vibe in an otherwise more relaxing setting. The food was delicious, presentation was good. Overall, this is a top date spot. Good for celebrations, or to show out for someone you really care for. The crowd was all well dressed and on dates too. Very happy with my experience and will make this place a go to choice for significant dates
Romantic ambiance. Friendly staff. Cocktails you wont get anywhere else. Just go!
Overall, fantastic. Nice interior, friendly and professional staff. They really care that you re having a good time. I love the fact that they have unconventional cocktails and you can experiment. Their cocktails are cute and tasty. When you make a reservation, you have to pick what you d like in advance. We got the $75 course and it was amazing value for money. Typical 7-8 course would easily cost $120 in Toronto. Quality, taste, presentation, everything was great. Definitely would visit again at a better time.
Phenomenal experience! Our waitress, Katia, blew it out of the water with her hospitality and attentiveness. The food was delicious, creative, and a great surprise each and every time. Highly recommend the drink pairing. Every meal coupled with the perfect cocktail was just perfection. Bravo to the chefs, mixologist, waiters, and Katia. Looking forward to next time!
This restaurant experience was like none other. Everything from the menu to the glass your drink is served in is perfection. Had phenomenal service all around. The food was perfect and I highly recommend the shore menu. I will be coming back to try the other ones. Had a chance to speak with Matt (one of the partners) after the meal. What they have done with this place is nothing to be understated. This place will be at the top of my list from this point on.
I cannot stress enough how amazing an experience we had at this restaurant. We got the signature menu, which from start to finish was fantastic. The food was fresh and inviting. The cocktails were inventive and exciting. The staff were attentive and friendly. They were easily able to accommodate a request without question or concern. All in all, one of the best dining experiences weve had in Toronto, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an intimate night out.
Excellent food service and atmosphere
It was excellent experience, great service and food was overall good.
We stumbled across this restaurant because everywhere was all booked. So glad we did because they do blind tasting and the food was pretty good. Cocktails were interesting as well. You can choose from meat, seafood or vegetarian for the blind tasting. We picked meat and turned out great. For $75 you definitely leave full. The 6 course started off with warm bread with 4 different butter (truffle, spicy, popcorn, cacio e pepe (best one)). Then Beef tartar with spicy oil and honey. Wasnt a fan of the honey but still good. Prosciutto croquette was next. Flavors were great with a nice crisp to it. Next one we our favorite, duck dumplings in sweet French onion soup. It tastes so much better than it looks. Had a great balance of east and west flavors. Lastly, 18hr sous vid rib on hummus that we light and not too nutty. Rib was super tender. I would come back and try the seafood blind tasting. The restaurant was small and intimate, servers were pleasant and friendly. Highly recommended.
Just go, even if you think the price is too high. It s not. Make sure to go on an empty stomach. The only thing I regret is that I didn t get the drink package because I m sure they would have chosen wonderful drinks. A great experience. The whole place is super cute and cozy. The staff are wonderful and described everything perfectly! Service was outstanding! Every dish was better than the last. Honestly if I could afford to I would eat here daily!
This is such a great spot. It s dark and moody. Service is excellent and the food is spot on. I ve been twice now and both times were great. It s fun to not know exactly what you re getting when you sit down and they handle all food related decisions for you. Can t recommend it enough.
Such a vibefrom the minute you walk in the door marked only with a question mark, and through the velvet curtains. Each item was a welcome mystery, and so delicious. The staff were wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable, and the drinks were fun. We had the farm option and regretted nothing besides the fact that we were so full by the end that we couldnt finish dessert
Delicious gourmet food and fun yet tasty drinks!
First time trying a blind tasting menu! The space is quite small but the service and food were great overall. Friend and I got the shore menu. Everything was great up until the main. The main was a bit too salty which we let the waitress know. To make up for it, we were given some health shots! Its a good experience and would recommend trying it out. Perfect date night idea!
Amazing food, presentation, service. Drinks are original and delicious We will be back.
we got the signature, 8 course meal. The tartare is quite disappointing, never had tartare that is so sweet. 5 out of 8 dishes were ok. Place is a bit small. But it was a great experience though!
Fantastic first visit last Thursday! Love the whole experience at the bar for my birthday, had the Beef menu and every item was delicious!! very impressed W the staff, cocktails, and seamless transition between courses. Thank You!!
Really disappointing. Did not respect dietary restrictions. (No alcohol)
I had a spectacular dinner at Pastiche! Can not recommend this place enough, the food was spectacular and more than enough to fill anyone as well as the drinks were very tasteful. I came here for my birthday dinner last night and the staff were incredible, super friendly, very knowledgeable, our waitress was Zoe and she was phenomenal. Had the dishes memorized, all the ingredients, it s a very high end experience from start to finish. I will certainly be back regularly, thank you to the amazing staff.
Soo good! Service was amazing, food was great, overall recommend. Great experience
My partner and I went here for his birthday recently. We booked via OpenTable and a week before our reservation, I got an email from them asking me about any dietary restrictions and if which menu wed like to try. It initially got me excited to go try them and thought how nice of them to do that. Going into our reservation (and being the first customers for the day), we were met with lots of friendliness and coziness by the staff. The food... MINDBLOWING. We got the Farm option and it was spectacular. I would want whatever thingy majig they put in each dish they served us again. Cant wait to try the other menus in the future!
It s been a a while since I wanted to try this place like since they opened few years ago replacing Boralia. I dined here back in March 2nd 2023. I like the idea of blind menus it s fun. Our server Catherine was very helpful and knowledgeable, she really did cared for us. Although my guest was a little disappointed with one of the menu item, Catherine cared enough to make the experience better. I would return here for more experiences. I did not post any food pictures as the menu is constantly changing. Take the risk and dine here , you won t regret it.
Amazing food, drinks and service. Loved their take on cha siu octopus, definitely something everyone should experience at least once. Shout out to Jake, thank you!
I recently dined at a restaurant with a group of four, and the company was fantastic - a solid 10/10. The restaurant offered a unique farm-to-table concept with six meat-based dishes on the tasting menu Farm, there are seafood and vegetarian options as well (vegan as well I believe). Each dish was a surprise, and we shared everything. The dishes ranged from light and crunchy to rich and decadent, and the combination of warm and cold dishes made for an exciting adventure for our taste buds. As for the drinks, we tried a tea with gin and lemoncello, which were both fantastic and maybe one other?! I cant quite remember the specifics, but thats the beauty of it - like a movie thats impossible to describe, you have to go see and taste if firsthand. I must also commend our server Zoë , who was an absolute delight. She graciously explained each dish and had a contagious energy that elevated the entire experience. A gorgeous human being. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a unique, farm-to-table dining experience with excellent service.
a hidden gem.
The church vibes exterior instantly caught the attention of my partner and I, so we decided to pop in for a drink. Fun and eclectic atmosphere with some interesting and creative cocktails. They seemed to have a bit more focus on the wow factor rather than a taste/refinement, but they were reasonably priced and well portioned. Service was friendly and their food looked great, but their kitchen closed when we decided to order (they gave us last call for kitchen heads up but we were indecisive). Overall its a great spot for a date/small friend gathering and well definitely be back to give the food a try and cocktails another shot!
Love our time there
Came here to celebrate our anniversary and opted for the Pastiche Signature Experience. All I can say is ... unbelievable amount of food! Quality was phenomenal! The chef sous-vides a lot of the items here, so dishes like the sword fish and octopus was absolutely perfect! Our waiter was fantastic and explained all the pairings and the complexity of the dishes. Will definitely be coming back and highly recommend to anyone that wants to try a blind menu. Quite the experience!
Cute and brautiful
Subpar service and less than mediocre food offerings
Participated in the seafood based tasting menu. The originality of the cocktails and unique presentation of the course made this dinner a fun and memorable experience.
Had a fun cocktail here
Was really excited to get a reso here, such a fun time! We got the tasting menu, and before you think its going to be small portions, trust me, youll leave full! Loved the different flavors and inspirations from Asian to French and European cultures. The tartar was divine, finally a different take on a tartar! The cocktails also compliment the tasting menu just right. It was a great experience, especially loved the fact that they give you a digestif on the house, made me feel like I was back in Europe!
We grabbed a table on the bar and had the most wonderful time ever. Really great environment, delicious drink and food, very attentive service. Def one of our favourite spots in To :)
It did not meet my drink or food expectations. Not worth the cost. It was a little too dark inside and they left the door open which made it cold and uncomfortable.
Title: A Memorable Dining Experience at Pastiche Restaurant in Toronto Rating: I recently had the incredible honor and privilege of dining at Pastiche restaurant in Toronto earlier this month, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant, it was evident that this was going to be a special evening. Upon arrival, we were seated at a prime table that truly showcased the restaurants attention to detail. What made it even more remarkable was the fact that they recognized my boyfriends birthday and went above and beyond to make him feel celebrated. It was a small gesture, but it made a world of difference to us. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, the staff took the time to ensure that we felt like the only customers in the establishment. Their exceptional service was a testament to their dedication to providing a memorable dining experience. The staff members were knowledgeable, attentive, and displayed a genuine passion for their craft. Now, lets talk about the food. Pastiche truly impressed us with their culinary prowess. Every dish that graced our table was a masterpiece. From the appetizers to the entrees, we couldnt find a single flaw. The flavors were expertly balanced, and the presentation was simply stunning. It was evident that the chefs put great care and thought into each dish, and their passion for culinary excellence shone through in every bite. I rarely take the time to write reviews unless a restaurant has left a lasting negative impression on me, but I simply couldnt pass up the opportunity to commend Pastiche. It is undeniably one of the best restaurants Ive ever had the pleasure of dining at in Toronto. The combination of impeccable service, delectable food, and an ambiance that exudes warmth and sophistication is truly a winning formula. I highly recommend Pastiche to anyone looking for an extraordinary dining experience in Toronto. It is well worth the time and investment. Thank you, Pastiche, for an unforgettable evening. We will most certainly be back to create more cherished memories in the future.
Great concept, very interesting. Loved that we got to try many different things and the dessert was amazing. The fish on zucchini was under seasoned but everything else was great.
Amazing
A wonderful dining experience. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, executed and explained. While a few were not to my taste, it was clearly expertly crafted and I enjoyed the experience as a whole.
Jake is an absolute legend of a bartender. Food was amazing, vibe was 10/10. Amazing energy.
A beautiful dining experience, perfect for a special occasion. As it s a blind menu I don t want to spoil anything but every dish on the shore menu was a delightful surprise. The food and drinks are creative, fresh and delicious. The service was attentive and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. Like many Toronto restaurants the bathrooms are located down a long flight of stairs and I didn t ask if they had a wheelchair accessible option. We will definitely be coming back to try the meat or vegetarian menus.
Amazing food, drinks and service. Ive been to Pastiche twice in less than 3 months. Would definitely come back.
Great experience highly recommend to anyone who is looking for sth more than just food cause they serve you art!
One of the best places for food and drink. Consistently amazing fusion dishes. Love being surprise by what the chef decides to make on any given visit.
Would Return. Cosy date vibes paired with a very small peckish menu and strong drinks. Beef Tartare - not my style. Really didnt like it. Not really sure how to describe it as the beef was underwhelming, and the chili oil was overpowering everything. Beef cuts also felt like cheapre cuts with lots of sinew. No tang or classic mustard. Not my style but maybe others enjoy it. Takes AMEX. Expect $50-$60pp Please follow @trebzheng for more Toronto and travel eats :)
The best spot for drinks in the sitting. Definitely prefer sitting at the bar and getting tapas over eating the set menu (which is still really good , their drinks are just way better)
Great food. Great staff
A treat of a place! Between no lactose or mushrooms we got a fantastic mix of farm fare, seafood and meat dishes. Very well presented, everything smelled and tasted delishious, and we came in hungry, ended up leaving with a bag. Drinks were another delight, rubber duck in a tub was fun all around, mezcal, smokey bubbles - just ask! We did ask and one of the nonalcoholic drinks was infused with cucumber vodka :) Great staff, we were well taken care of and looked after, anything we wanted.. Before walking in, passers by were noting what a great restaurant it was, great food - it met all expectations and more. Try it! Vegetarian options: Absolutely Dietary restrictions: They look after all your needs
The food was not worth the price. The best part was the potatoes and dessert. Everything came out quickly and then long wait for th least couple courses. Very disappointing!
Such a hidden gem on Ossington. Highly recommend!
Only stopped by for cocktails - they were amazing. Interior and music
Came here for our wedding anniversary, ambiance and drinks are nice. However, the overall experience was sub par nothing special. No mention of special occasion. Food was mediocre, plated very nicely however. In my opinion, it isn t worth the tasting menu.
We had an incredible time at this restaurant with its warm, and bustling atmosphere. The blind tasting menu was a delightful and engaging experience, and every course was simply excellent. The service was top-notch, making the entire dining experience truly memorable. Highly recommended for a fun and delicious night out!
Absolutely worth a visit! My partner and I live on Queen West, and its surprising that we only just discovered this gem. This spot offers the BEST COCKTAILS in the city, with a very reasonable price per drink and an impressive array of options to explore. The cocktails strike the perfect balance between sweetness and strength. The atmosphere is stunning, and photos truly dont capture its charm. Photos do not do this place justice
Love this place - such a fun hidden gem on Ossington. The drinks are fab and the service was everything - shout out Losh for the good vibes and the drink reccos. Will def be coming back! Pro tip: order the bramble on and bathtub hooch for fun presentation drinks!
This place has such a great ambiance and drinks - highly recommend for your bar hoping tour on Ossington! Losh was our waiter on a Saturday night and he was fantastic! He gave us great drink recommendations and suggested fun drinks with surprise presentations. I ordered the Bramble On which comes with a bubble on top of your glass (fruity and sweet drink). And then we ordered the bathtub hooch which literally comes in a mini bathtub with a rubber duck! He also gave our table complimentary Limoncello shots which were tasty too! If you end up at Pastiche ask for Losh!!
Pastiche is a solid place. Not only is Matt one of the most down to earth bartenders out there, his approach to cocktail making and his menu is truly his own, not relying on what the market trends or forces are saying. The cocktails are solid, but more so, the food and ability to adjust and suit a budget and zone of taste is a touch above what is expected. A lot of places on Ossington are great, but to me, this is an outstanding place. Check it out if your in the area!
Selected the pastiche signature experience for 2. Expected it to be better for $95 per person. Thought we each got 8 dishes however only received 8 dishes for the both of us which should have been mentioned online. Only liked 3 dishes out of the 8 was good.
It was a great experience. The food was very unique and different.
The only lemon on the whole Ossington strip. Expect seafood drenched in sauce, lukewarm mains and servers that spout out tired, rehearsed lines likely imposed on them by whomever founded this place.
Pastiche has a fun concept with their blind tasting menu. We did the signature option so we could try a variety of dishes and I d definitely recommend it. The portions were quite big and they said they usually have to pack up leftovers. The drinks were great and super unique. The bartender gave us great recommendations.
such a cool & amazing spot! first time coming with a friend and we decided to try out the Farm menu. we had an amazing time - from the ambiance to the food to service! we loved all the items (my fav were the steak tartare & the gyoza) and felt they were all proportioned really well with amazing service as they were all timing out. we also grabbed a few drinks that were delicious - the drink menu was super interesting with something for everyone. i d totally recommend this spot if you want to try something a little more different on Ossington and we said we ll be back to try out the other menus!
We ordered the Farm Menu 5 course with a dietary restriction that was supposed to be accommodated for as we had made a prior reservation . First course is a half loaf of sliced sourdough bread with 5 variations of butter. Thoroughly disappointing. Second course is more bread with a beef tartine. The beef tartine was the redeeming factor here. It was good, however after all the bread we received initially it was excessive. Then because of our dietary restriction (no pork) we received two plant based dishes, a cold dish and a halloumi dish. We barely touched the cold dish. The halloumi was better. Finally we received the lamb. This was certainly their best course, the meat fell of the bone and was very tasty. Before I get a scathing response from the chef/owner I do want to say that I did share my feedback with the waitress and all she said was ok and that there were no alternatives. I would suggest that the menu is shared prior so your guests can make an informed decision. We would have ordered the seafood instead. It was definitely not worth the $75 price for tag per person plus additional drinks.
Food, coctails, staff...Everything is excellent, Above my expectations. I strongly recommend this place.
We were the only people in there so I can t say the atmosphere was incredible, but it made for a great intimate date night and still loved it. The food and service were both 10/10. Interesting dishes and combinations I ve never had anywhere else that I really liked. Vegetarian options: They have a whole vegetarian set menu if you want it.
Had a dinner for 2 at this lovely French restaurant. We had there signature tasting menu and they took us through a journey of mouth watering plates. Everything from the scallop salad to the beef tartar to the lamb was cooked and served to perfection. Most Ingredients are sourced locally and everything was very fresh. The chefs in this kitchen really are geniuses with the combinations of flavours used in each item. It was an absolute joy from start to finish and we also ended up ordering the signature Pelon cocktail that consists of mezcal and a corn leaf being infused into the drink on the spot. This drink was a huge hit and we ended up ordering a few rounds. The staff and service were 10/10, friendly and knowledgeable. The desert was essentially an almond cake with frozen raspberries and a delicious cream that gets poured over top. Big fan of this restaurant and everything that they re doing. I will most definitely be back and I look forward to it.
Cocktails are decent but the host was so unpleasant it really turned this into a mediocre experience.
I ve been to Pastiche a number of time and I don t think I ll be going there again. The food is delicious and so are the drinks but this last visit was not up to the high standards Pastiche adheres to. Firstly, I booked a signature experience with connoisseur drinks pairing for a friend s birthday. Upon arriving we didn t get a table instead was shown to the bar seating. The bartender promised to make up for it by making the first pairing of drinks free but when the bill arrived it don t reflect that. So overall I don t think I ll be going again
We had a fabulous 6 course dinner at Pastiche. Cocktails were very engaging and well thought out. Beautiful creativity on the Nori Caprese. Smart fusion. No menu with choice of vegetarian or meat based dinners. No substitutions for preferences allow the food to be tasted as it was meant to be tasted. Only complaint was we did not leave super full. Very small plates for the most part.
Our party did the blind tasting menu and chose the farm option which is meat. It was 6 courses and all the dishes were absolutely delicious, lots of flavor and texture. The cocktails ( Bramble on, sugar bush are the two cocktail names I remember ) were also great and beautifully presented. They were nice and strong the way I like it (i.e. not watered down).
You go to Pastiche for a different experience. Everything they put on the table is a piece of art from presentation aspect. The taste of the food is amazing and I loved the ambiance as it was a combination of classic Persian and European vibes. Make sure you call in advance as they don t accept walk ins.
visited Pastiche with a group on my friends birthday. My friend pre paid for the table with tip. At the end of the dinner while we celebrating my friends birthday the manager rudely interrupted our conversation and told the table that tip we gave was nothing and started making a very big deal about the tip- which we were planning on leaving an additional cash tip on the table like we always do. Unfortunately the rude confrontation completely ruined our night and birthday celebration after the manager asking for additional tip infront of the person celebrating his birthday. We also brought a small mini cake with us ( since the restaurant does not have cakes) and asked nicely if they could cut it for us. We were told they would charge us $5 a cut since we were using their cutlery. ( So I do not recommend coming here if its your birthday celebration) Things to improve: owner of business should re-train their staff on proper service, till the end. No other restaurant would allow this to happen especially at this price point of $100 a person Ps. Food was good. A strong 4/5. Interior is also nice with cool chandeliers. Too bad we wont be coming back again.
We both got the signature menu and really enjoyed the ambiance and the service. We were pleasantly surprised at the variety and the quantity of dishes which were served (Ive never been this full after a tasting menu). The dishes were all solid but the highlights for me were the bread with different-themed butter, the crudo with thick slices of fish, and the interesting take on coxinha. The cocktails are also pretty decent!
Love this hidden gem if you want a cool cocktail and great music, but n9t too loud that you actually want to have a conversation
Pastiche is such a nice venue with amazing service and food !
Expensive and small portions Loud music jut a fun place to visit once Food
Fun place
Horrible service, you ll be flat out ignored if you re a POC.
The service in this restaurant is what really stood out to me. The food, drinks and atmosphere are fantastic as well. I recommend the Beef Tartare. Probably the best I ve ever had.
I love this place, I went there for my boyfriends birthday and it was an amazing experience, no expensive compare to other course meals restaurants. I will definitely recommended, It is my favorite place in Toronto!
Great food, great service, nice vibe
I would come back for a cocktail, but probably not for dinner. The service is phenomenal, drinks are great, and the atmosphere is nice and cozy. However, I thought the food was pretty mediocre. I respect that they re taking an unconventional approach but many of the flavours and dishes on the tasting menu just didn t go well together. If youre into spending money on quirky vibes, you might love this place! Just not my thing personally
Great ambiance, wine and oysters!
Highly recommend
Have been here a number of times and I love the ever changing menu, tasty food, fun atmosphere and great staff. One of the best experiences in Toronto for the money!
Love everything about this place. The food and service are amazing. They have added new drinks to their menu and that are all absolutely delicious Wheelchair accessibility: It is accessible
The cocktails? Look great, taste better The atmosphere? Unmatched The complimentary roasted chickpeas? I ll be asking for the recipe Food : 5/5
Cocktails were out of this world! Roasted chickpeas to die for, hoping they will be a permanent member of the menu!
The ambience was eccentric and nice. A bit too crowded for my liking. I do think the food was very mediocre for the price. I have paid similar amounts for tasting menu at other restaurants and Pastiches quality and taste was mediocre comparatively. -Bread was pretty hard - Fish was overdone and rubbery - The potatoes were okay. Even potatoes at brunch are better. - The almond cake was very dry. The crudo and shrimp were the only 2 plates Id go back for. The platter of butter was also creative. Overall, I expected more creativity and better taste.
Had an amazing time at The Pastiche! The signature menu with eight meals was exceptional, offering new tastes and high-quality food. Our server was outstanding, enhancing our experience with great explanations for each dish. Highly recommended for a perfect dining experience in Toronto!
I was excited to try the tasting menu at Pastiche for a friends birthday after reading about their unique approach to sharing plates. We were a group of 4 and were seated at the booth for dinner service on the 8th of December. It started off well, service was very friendly and accommodating. The host was ignorant when it came to a particular food item and claimed we don t know where the foods originate from, we just make them and people seem to enjoy it. Weird thing to say for a restaurant. I was disappointed with the first course, mains and dessert. Bread with spreads are usually served as complimentary sides and not as a first course . Our main was the lamb sous-vide. The two slices I got were dry and flavourless, I tried a slice from the middle which was juicy but I don t expect inconsistency when I m paying $100+. Dessert was the biggest joke - a drink of some kind. The music was so loud we couldn t even hear what it was but it was non alcoholic. Since when is a beverage DESSERT? We even mentioned on our OpenTable reservation and to the server that we were celebrating a birthday :/ My sister visited a week after me and told me her table was served cake, and other comments mention the same. So did they just forget about us?! Not worth the money if you want to celebrate something special, but I hope they improve their food because they have a lot of potential to get it right.
Drinks were unique and delicious! Small space with a great vibe. Will definitely be back!
Unreal experience. Love the corn burnt tequila. Will come back Vegetarian options: They have it Dietary restrictions: Absolutely - Pregnant friend had the chef tailor everything to perfection Kid-friendliness: Nope
We were a group of 6 friends enjoying our night at Pastiche. That was a great experience the food was off the charts including 8 different plates, a flavor party in every bite, and the drinks? Pure genius pairings that made the whole meal a blast!
Food was not tasting good and the portions were very small compared to price ( which we expected to some level) as an example they gave us 1 piece of cake for dessert!
The presentation of the food was good; however, it lacked in taste for some dishes. Additionally, the cost was on the higher side, nearly $300 for two people. The food portions were notably small. It was absolutely overpriced.
