I recently visited Paddington’s in Toronto and had a classic peameal bacon sandwich. The sandwich was delicious—thick, juicy, and cooked just right. But beyond the food, what really made the experience memorable was the friendly service. The staff was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you can tell they care about their customers, which adds to the charm. If you’re looking for a genuine Toronto experience with tasty food and wonderful service, Paddington’s is a must-visit!

Decent peameal bacon sandwich. Nothing spectacular but serves as a great light brunch. Came out to $8.84 after tax as of October, 2024. Be sure to ask them to put their signature marmalade as condiment inside your sandwich!

Game here to try the famous peameal sandwich. Heard this place was the best! I enjoyed the sandwich. It is very reminiscent of the standard deli sandwich but it is more sophisticated. The cornmeal on the Canadian bacon (which essentially tastes like a salty Christmas ham (not overly salty)), peaks through in the moist subtle way adding a toasty, smoky flavor to the meat. I topped mine with onions, marmalade, and peppers. The sweetness of the marmalade complimented the sandwich nicely. I also got a Portuguese custard tart while I was there. The filling is extremely thick and the crust flaky. It taste like creamy custard, made my but from other vendors to compare. Look out for that review!

Ordered the clubhouse with french fries and the roast beef dip with home fries. Really good portions for the price. French fries > home fries. Loved how they gave us mayo without charging for it. Very nice and attentive service from this very handsome and cute guy , don't know his name but you know who you are.

I tried the famous peameal bacon sandwich at Paddington's Pump in St. Lawrence Market, and it was fantastic. The thick, juicy peameal bacon was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, complemented by a soft, fresh bun. This simple yet satisfying sandwich is a must-try for anyone visiting Toronto—a true taste of the city's culinary tradition. Don’t miss it!

Paddington's Pump in St. Lawrence Market, Toronto, is one of my favorite diners. The food is consistently great, and the atmosphere is superb—warm, welcoming, and full of charm. Every visit feels like a treat, whether I'm enjoying a hearty breakfast or a delicious lunch. If you're in the market, don't miss out on this gem.

Food was fine. Good value for money. Prices were quite cheap for Toronto in my opinion but the staff was rude. Service wasn't slow or bad just the staff were very unfriendly. They gave me what I wanted on time but they were rude Place is OK.. a bit shabby but the prices are low

Ordered a burger and an egg with fruit on the side dish. The burger seasoning was awful, the bread did not come with any sauce so it was dry. Awful. The fruit felt like it was sitting in a bowl for over a day, not fresh, not good. Cant understand how this is a popular spot, I will never step inside this spot again. So many tasty options in St Lawrence Market, and Paddington...

Got food to go - loved the peameal bacon sandwich and breakfast sandwiches. The buns were big and fluffy but not heavy, and the peameal bacon wasnt too salty like some others. Our only suggestion is to have more than one person preparing sandwiches at the counter on a Saturday morning. Will definitely be back!

My son, on his 29th birthday wanted to go here. We spoke of an experience we shared at a barbecue house on the west side, so that in mind we each ordered PPs Sloppy Bill...and couldnt have been more delighted with their roast beef (soup as a side). As much as I like to try all foods on a venues menu, Id be tempted to only ever order Sloppy Bill from them.

Smashing IT! Paddington Pump Pub & Restaurant has been a gem of a spot in the heart of a historic St. Lawrence Market for years now. What a great day to start off your journey into the St. Lawrence Market by stopping off at Paddington for a great breakfast. Or where ever your journey may take you for that day. Hogwarts perhaps? Platform 9¾ and Hogsmeade Station.. I had the French Toast with sausage, and it was amazing! Such great prices as well. Especially in this economy. Great food. Great vibes and an amazing waitstaff! Cant wait to come back for some more great eats & friendly chit chat.

My husband, my daughter and myself make a monthly trip to St Lawrence Market and we always end our trip with all 3 of us getting a roast beef dip. I m from Philly originally and just the way they serve the sandwich, it reminds me a lot of a cheesesteak from home, without cheese, it helps when I have the craving for one, I think the next time we go, I may ask if I can have cheese on it. No pics because we eat it too quickly, highly recommend the sandwich!

Great peameal on a bun and a perfect Canadian experience, best price for quality, the Portuguese tart was a disappointment, the crust was too thick and under cooked, the custard needs a little more sweetness or brightness with the texture again a little under cooked, while I like more brown than the traditional black spots none of their display products had black spots again perhaps a sign of the need for more oven time, go here for the peameal, it will not disappoint

Paddington s Pump at St. Lawrence Market was an absolute gem of a find! The moment we stepped in, we were greeted by the incredibly handsome and oh-so-charming Athan, our Greek waiter, who truly made our day. His charisma and infectious smile had us hooked from the start honestly, I just wish I had more time with Athan! The food? Out of this world! Every dish was packed with flavor, and you could taste the love in every bite. Whether you re craving something hearty or just a quick snack, Paddington s Pump delivers in every way. The cozy, laid-back atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to chill with friends, and let s be real it s worth coming back just to see Athan again! If you re in St. Lawrence Market and looking for a place that has it all delicious food, a warm vibe, and service that will leave you smiling look no further. Just do yourself a favor and ask for Athan. You won t regret it, but be warned: one meal might not be enough because you ll want to keep coming back! Paddingtons Pump has been around for a long time. Sometimes longevity is a good thing and thankfully this is one of those times. PP will always hold a special place in my heart; its the last place I shared an in-person interaction with my father, Frank Iadipaolo, who had many many different qualities (as do we all) some of which unfortunately would land him in a corrections facility or involuntary commitment were he still with us today. Im sitting at (or next) to the seats we had that day (Nov 11 2022) and Im *pretty sure I have the same server today as we did back then. Maybe the virgin Caesar and smoked meat sandwich Im about to eat are just another questionable financial choice Im making while simultaneously incepting myself into four highly competitive artistic fields. Maybe they are symbolic of inner strength, unbreakable will and a perpetual choice to live and grow even when things seemed impossible. Heres to you, Frank. It was always about the love.

Their marketing is good and I was hooked by the traditional pealmeal sandwich, with pork, I thought it lacked flavor, it was average, but its big and comes with fries, with soft drink (+tax +service 10%) it cost CAD$19. Kind service. The place is in the market. Always remember that, throughout the country, there is still tax and service, at the value shown on the menu.

POV: youre at St. Lawrence Market, and there are two spots for our signature Peameal Bacon Sandwich, which do you choose? Paddingtons is definitely tastier, prepared to order with juicy, fragrant slabs of peameal bacon thats for sure to satisfy the hungriest of individuals, with your choice of fresh toppings like tomato and lettuce to add a delicious depth of flavour, and obviously, you cant omit the honey mustard for an indulgent sweetness.

The Peameal Breakfast Sandwich was great. They pile on the Peameal just as much as their regular Peameal sandwich. The egg fried with the yolk broken but the yolk is left slightly runny - yum! The cheese is melted on. I had my choice of toppings, and I added some tomato, onion, and mayo. This was a delight. They missed one of our 4 sandwiches and we had to wait a long time for the replacement, but it worked out in the end. The price was right, all four of my family ate for under $10 per person. Horrible professionalism amongst the staff. They did not allow us to move to a better table regardless of them having multiple other open tables to sit at. Best $ breakfast in town!

December 22, 2023

I popped down to get a peameal bun to takeout. Ordered and paid. The peameal was put in the bun and it was time to order toppings & condiments. There was tomato, onion, relish, peppers, no lettuce, I asked for lettuce. I just like lettuce and honey mustard, thats it. They arent offering lettuce with the peameal buns right now - its too expense they said. Its only avail for BLT and something else. I could see prepped lettuce in the kitchen area behind the counter so I asked if I could have some from there as I wasnt having any other condiments. They said no, were not allowed to give it. I know lettuce at one point was crazy expensive, but Metro had iceberg lettuce for $2.49 last week. So they continued to refuse to provide lettuce so I asked for a refund. Totally a first world problem, but come on, if I had asked for every topping plus lettuce Id get it, but I didnt. Theyve now lost a customer who supported them through Covid.

We came into Paddington s to grab a quick bite + beer before shopping, and decided to get the chicken wings, with the SUICIDE sauce. Me and my partner enjoy extremely spicy food, but nothing could prepare us for the journey of taste, pain, tears and laughs we experienced with this hot sauce. The waitress warned us ahead of time, and she supported us with getting glasses of milk and tissues the whole time. If any one says they can handle spice, I challenge you to come to this place and have the SUICIDE sauce. What a stunningly unexpected experience.

The pancakes were delicious, but service on our visit wasnt great. Waitress was brusk and not very engaging. We both ordered pancakes w/ sausage, but they sent out the wrong pancakes. They remade them but asked if we wanted to take the mistake home so they wouldnt get thrown out, we said sure. Meanwhile the sausages never showed up. When the bill came, we were charged for the remake on the pancakes, which definitely shouldnt have happened since it was staffs fault. But we were so annoyed with the experience we didnt bother trying to get it fixed, we just wanted to leave. We were one of only a couple tables at the time, so its not even like they were slammed with customers. Good food, at least what we tried, but a revisit in the future is unlikely.

Terrible service, its the first time Ive bought a roast beef sandwich, and the person who charged me threw the payment terminal at me, a person with green hair and Chinese. She didnt ask me if I would leave a tip, she did it herself. Terrible service. The food 6 out of 10. We were treated very poorly.

I recently dined at a restaurant which I found to be average in terms of food quality, but the prices were reasonable. However, I do intend to revisit the place and order other dishes from their menu, which seem to be their specialty. In general, its a cozy eatery that serves comforting food and provides exceptional service.

One of the best diners in the city, located at the Front Street entrance of St Lawrence Market. I go there every week for lunch with my son who works in the area. A neighbourhood and market staple in a classic pub setting with typical diner offerings. Their poutine is some of the best around for the price and can go wrong with breakfast here. Great spot for tourists to get immersed in the market and the Toronto of past days, and for locals to nurse their hangovers with a great poutine and greasy spoon breakfast.

First time visiting Toronto and I didn t know there s a bacon called peameal. Was recommended by a coffee shop to try this peameal sandwich. The shop located inside the st Lawrence market, you won t miss the big Paddington bear. The line might be long but it moves fast. You get to choose your toppings in your sandwich. The sandwich taste ok. For Americans it s basically a ham sandwich. So nothing really wow me. But it s still interesting to try .

Dont expect good service if youre a minority. Extremely racist and rude staff. My family and I were moved out of our table to give space for another group, without no other group in sight. Our food was never served after a 22 minute wait, and we left. Never again. SIDENOTE: the restaurant was empty and the table we were moved from was not filled at any point before we left.

December 22, 2023

After being seated at the bar, it took over ten minutes for the server to take our order. Once our order was taken, it took over an hour for the food to arrive. Between the time we ordered and the food came to the table, the server did not come by to give us an update on the progress of our meal. Everyone around us, including those who sat after us, received their meals promptly except us. Once the food came out, the French toast was soggy and undercooked. When talking with the server, she refused to speak to me (a black man) and only acknowledged my white partner and talked to him. The service was appalling. You can get better food and service anywhere in the market

I liked the fact that as soon as you sit down they serve you a glass of water, which is appreciated after spending all day exploring the city. We are passionate about eggs benedict so we ordered some and then the house specialty classic sandwich. With the sandwich and eggs you can order house potatoes or French fries. The house potatoes are a style of cooked and then sautéed potatoes, for my taste I prefer fried potatoes. The food was correct and the service was good.

We visited the St. Lawrence Market for the first time, and we were pleasantly surprised that there was a brunch restaurant in the historic building. It was pretty crowded though, and so, we waited in line for a couple of minutes before being ushered to our table. The real wait, however, came after we had made our order. It was more than thirty minutes before our food was delivered to us. Getting a coffee refill was another lengthy wait. Obviously the place was under staffed. That said, the food was okay, prices good, and location historic.

There are so many things I loved about this restaurant. Its nostalgic for me and brings me back to days as a child at a restaurant. Its not updated, its not fancy. Its real people serving, at a pace I admired. No rushing, always smiling, enjoying what they do. No pressure and it seemed all the patrons respected that. The food... my goodness, was AMAZING!! THE eggs Benny were to die for with a hollandaise sauce unlike nothing Ive tasted before. This place was in my opinion.. is top notch! I highly recommend and havent stop talking about since I went. Unfortunately Im not local, but when Im back in the area, I will be back!!! 5

Perfectly average breakfast spot. Not gonna blow your mind but the service is quick and easy, with a quick queue to get in. Maybe I m not a huge peameal fan, but I personally didn t get the hype around it. It was perfectly fine. Tbh i d pay less money to get regular bacon instead. The home fries could use good amount more seasoning too. Otherwise it s a cozy spot that clearly has many years of experience under its belt. Nice option for quick and decently priced breakfast.

Visited the St. Lawrence market during my layover in Toronto. While here, we checked out Paddingtons pump for lunch. They have this thing called peameal bacon which reminded me of a cross between ham and Taylors pork roll. Nice and salty. They offer this one sandwiches and burgers. I got mine on the burger and I honestly wish I just got it on the sandwich by itself bc the burger took over the flavor. The prices with the exchange rate was not too bad... maybe equivalent to around $13ish. The service was quick and the staff were super friendly! It is in a market which is connected to a to go stall so make sure you dont take a table if youre not dining in.

(No condiments whatsoever, which is ok for a steak but not a SANDWICH!) ; took the first bite, and I was not even able to chew it!! Waaaaaay overdone! FYI, I asked for a medium. This was definitely NOT a medium more of an overcooked. Had to literally take the bite out, or I felt Id choke ! ( not happy to do that ever) .... cut it into small baby pieces to eat, but even that was full of fat. Our server was nice!
