79 Huron St, Toronto, ON M5T 2A8, Canada
Simple eatery offering many kinds of dumplings, plus Chinese pancakes, steamed buns & noodle dishes.
I can’t believe it took me this long to try this gem! The food here is incredible. I had the XLB and sesame noodles—both were outstanding. The dumplings were packed with flavourful soup, and the noodles had that perfect chew you only get with fresh, handmade dishes. I learned that everything here is crafted by hand, and you can truly taste the difference. The service was warm and welcoming, and the place was spotless. The staff were having their meal while we were there, and the baos they were enjoying looked mouthwatering. I’ll definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu.
The beef & onion stuffed pancakes and pork zha jiang noodles were just about average, nothing too surprising. The shredded potato salad and dumplings (I think we got chicken shrimp mushroom and corn) were amazing, so delicious! Will definitely come back to try other items.
So delicious. We got the soup dumplings, chive, pork & shrimp dumplings, and the chive pancake. Highly recommend all 3. It did take a bit for the food to come but other than that service was good and the owners are so sweet.
Yummy Dumplings is a cozy spot that's perfect for two people or small groups. The dining area has a warm and inviting feel, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. Service is top-notch—the staff is attentive and friendly, and the dishes are made fresh to order. The food is great, and the value is even better. You get excellent quality for the price, which makes it worth the visit. Just note that parking is paid, but it's a small trade-off for the overall experience. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're craving delicious dumplings!
“Best Panfried Dumplings and Sour Plum Juice.” It’s a must to review Yummy Yummy Dumplings if you're exploring Chinatown, and I’m glad I finally did! Despite the crowd, the staff manages the lines efficiently with quick service. I started with the green onion pancake, which is quite heavy—one order is more than enough for two people to share. It was crispy and flaky. The pan-fried shrimp, chive, and egg dumplings were good, but I found the meat options to be even better. However, the real standout was the freshly made sour plum juice. It was incredibly refreshing, with a perfect balance of sweet and slightly sour. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up ordering a second glass! Highly recommend giving this place a try. Note: Just be mindful that it can get very crowded, so visiting during off-peak times is a good idea for a better experience.
Food was amazing! It was my first time and it exceed my expectations. Staff was very friendly. Food tasted awesome! We got the pork/shrimp/cabbage pan fried dumplings, the pork and chive steamed dumplings, and the pork soup dumplings. Everything was exceptional!!! My favorite was the pork and chive steamed dumplings, they had a lot more flavour, and was still juicy.
My first time trying Yummy Yummy Dumplings. The mid rating is because I ordered on Uber eats and had I dined in person, it would’ve been much better as they suffered in transit. Ordered boiled pork and cabbage dumplings, and panfried shrimp pork and chive as well as pork and chive which were very similar. It’s not the best I’ve eaten and not the worst. Hits the spot if you have a craving for dumplings and too lazy to go out. Smothered in chili sauce mixed with soy sauce and dark Chinese vinegar provided, it was pretty good and we ate everything. Ok I think I will bump it up a star.
This was my second visit to this restaurant. The seating is limited, so there can be a wait during busy times. Both times, I ordered the soup dumplings, but I prefer the regular dumplings, which are more flavorful, come in larger portions, and offer a variety of flavors. You can choose from three cooking methods: boiled, pan-fried, and steamed. I also highly recommend the beef wrap (pancake), which was incredibly delicious. The seaweed salad was decent, though it was a bit spicier than I expected, but the portion was generous. The red bean pancake was another highlight and very tasty. During my first visit, the service was just okay due to a lack of staff. However, on my second visit, there were noticeably more servers, and the service was much more attentive. The only downside is that, because of the limited seating, the staff tends to rush you to check out and leave once you're done eating. Please note that this restaurant only accepts cash and debit cards; credit cards are not accepted.
The food is ok, BUT BEWARE of scam. I was robbed of $8 Canadian when I decided to pay in American Dollars. I left this restaurant having paid $28 Canadian for a meal advertised at $20 Canadian. I very, very strongly advise against it.
The dumplings and xiao long bao were delicious. I wonder if the egg soup has a weak taste. Overall it was cheap and good.
I really enjoyed the dumplings and egg drop soup! Great service and good prices for the portions.
Service was fast and friendly! The food was fantastic and definitely hit the spot. Wonderful place for lunch, dinner, or snacking!!
We loved this little low key dumpling place. Had the mutton shrimp and chive pan fried dumplings and the pickled cabbage and pork pancakes. Both extremely delicious, though the shrimp flavour disappeared a bit next to the mutton. The sour plum juice was very pleasant with the food. Very friendly and competent service and nice friendly vibe - so dont be put off by the plastic plates and cutlery!
was crazy
One of my favorite dumpling spots in Toronto. Wide variety of menu items and great atmosphere. Great value
why are they temporarily closed :(
High quality ingredients, tasty dumplings. Had the boiled pork, shrimp and chive dumplings which featured whole shrimp-- incredible. The pan fried pork and pickle cabbage dumpling is absolute perfect comfort food.
The dumplings and pan cakes were okay, didnt really stand out. The steamed buns were really good
Yummy yummy indeed!!! Freaking good dumplings (pan fried, steamed and the jucy steamed ones). Recommended for a quick bite.
Food was good but the service was HORRIBLE. We only ordered the Pork and Chives dumplings and tell me how it took 40 mins after they took our order. We asked the lady for water she said ok but never brought the water cuz she was too busy talking to the other workers. Another thing, when i went up to pay my bill, she took my money and was just on the phone talking to whoever. Literally waited there for 5 mins while she kept her conversation. When she did finish her convo, she looks at me then shows me the bill asking me how much i want to tip. She did not want to give me my change and give me the option on how much i want to tip. PLEASE BRING THE EXACT AMOUNT BECAUSE THE LADY DOES NOT GIVE YOU YOUR CHANGE AND FORCES YOU TO TIP EVEN THO THE SERVICE IS REALLY BAD.
Wow wow wow
Must order items: Pan fried fish & chive dumpling E01 Any of the pancakes F04 - F15 Best dumplings in downtown Food : 5/5 |
Me and my boyfriend went on a soup dumpling tasting in the city. This was a great hole in the wall place, the server was very friendly and despite seemingly being pretty short staffed he was extremely pleasant and quick seating us, taking our order, and bringing out the food. We visited around 2:30-3pm I just want to reiterate how great the young man serving us was. Well definitely be back to try more food next time we re in Toronto!
The food is fantastic. Ive never tried dumplings before but they were melt-in-your-mouth. Soooo good. Its a small place and looks more like a snack bar but has really good food.
Handmade, fresh dumplings and nice service! Highly recommend.
Was in a bit of a rush and wish we could ve enjoyed longer. The food was phenomenal and came out quickly!
Walking in, menus were dropped on the table for us and never came back to order. Another customer had to tell us we have to write down what we want. Food was mediocre, everything was mushy and I m almost 100% sure the soup dumplings had gone bad, it was sour. Bill was about $67 so after paying $70 the lady looks at the money, looks at our bill, then asks thats it? no more tip? Never going back.
Food was good, service was good although one of the waiters did not follow a safety protocol. The waiter blew his nose and immediately started serving food. I saw him not washing his hands the whole 10 minutes and he served my food with his hands. Unsanitary.
Perfect little gem! We probably never would have went there if it wasn t for a search on Google man, since it s located just down a small side street, however it was perfect. Lovely place, incredible staff despite the rush they were obviously in. Lovely food! Go get yourself some dumpling. 10/10 recommend.
Juicy and tasty!
True hidden gem of Chinatown. Delicious dishes, generous portions and fair prices. The place is almost hidden and can even be invisible if you are not attentive enough but it is worth the money.
These are some of the soupiest soup dumplings I ve ever had. Super thin dumpling wrapper that didn t tear- I don t know how they do it. So good. We also got the green onion pancake and pan fried pork and chive dumplings. Everything was decent. Prices are very reasonable. Food
Food was so great we ordered more!
This is the most biblically accurate name you could have called this place because I think I just had a religious experience eating these dumplings. I would order these on death row. I love you
delicious dumplings but takes a while to steam
AMAZING DUMPLINGS. They for sure didn t lie with the name, they were really yummy yummy!!! The place wasn t very pretty, kinda small but the food makes everything better! Service also good, nothing more to say about that. Definitely go try it out!!!
Amazing food, great menu selection, great prices, so far some of the best dumplings I have ever tried. 100% recommended
I had high expectations for this place and turned out it is really good! The steamed dumpling and noodles were a great combo and for a great value too. I would definitely come back to try more dishes.
best restaurant ever. dont do takeout. it wont do them justice. you HAVE to go in for the food. order anything. they dont miss. at all. theres a reason why matty matheson loves this place.
By far the best dumpling/top restaurants Ive ever been to in my life. All the different dishes Ive tried has never left me dissapointed. The soup dumplings are a MUST try. Definetly on my list of recommendations when coming to Chinatown Food
As a northern Chinese person, the dumplings and buns from here are my most favorite in the whole Toronto area: the balanced proportion of stuffing and wrap, and the food just tastes like home, very comforting. Also, the aunties are very friendly! Highly recommend!
So good! My son was craving dumplings so we popped into this little place. Definitely try the pork and shrimp dumplings!
Overhyped, I was excited to try this place because of social media , but the food didn t feel clean or fresh. The prices are not that great considering what you re being served. Not a bang for your buck , or value for quality kind of place. There s definitely other comparable options nearby.
The dumplings are very authentic and the hot and sour soup has a Taiwanese feel.
I decided to try this place impulsively based on social media buzz, only to find it another overhyped spot pushed by influencers. The pan-fried dumplings with pork, shrimp, and chives were decent but fell short of being spectacular. While juicy, they tasted quite similar to frozen dumplings from a grocery store, lacking unique texture or flavor. The beef and onion dumplings were disappointingly bland and sparse on filling. On the positive side, the tableside chili oil had a pleasant, mild heat. However, the restaurant itself was unimpressive, with a basic, unglamorous space and a single-room washroom that clearly needed more regular cleaning. Fortunately, the service was friendly, and the food arrived promptly.
We had glass noodles with pork - it was delicious. Will go again when in the area.
Best soup dumplings in Toronto
Good food. Classic old generation dining place feel. Friendly owner. Parking: Green P alone street and in nearby underground, a little tricky to find and park. Food : 5/5 |
Wow, another IG hype job. This place is so meh. The sesame noodles were not drained and were flavorless. And not only were the (steamed) dumplings bad (the wraps were hard on the edges) but the lack of quantity choice is just bad business (providing the option for 5 would enable/encourage guests to try more). And why are you charging 13 bucks for simple greens?! Rude. Avoid this place and hit up the plethora of better options a mere block or two away!
Pork zhajiang noodle Juicy dumpling (The meat filling and the meat zhajiang sauce are just fine. But holy the texture of their noodle and dumpling skin are just heaven, so chewy soft pillowy, don t know how to describe
Pancakes are very tasty. Dumpling soup was average. You can pay only with cash or debit card Food : 4/5
Terrible service, left the customers waiting for more than 20 minutes when everyone went for lunch break. End up leaving out of frustration and hunger.
Hands down the best dumplings I have EVER had. I ve been lucky enough to eat some amazing dumplings in my time, but Yummy Yummy wins. The beef noodle soup was unreal, too. Thank you so much!
Fantastic dumplings, the atmosphere is very greasy spoon as are the amenities. You come here for the quality of the food and the service is quite good. Get the dumplings and enjoy the quaint atmosphere for a quick lunch, you wont regret it.
Rude staff and disrespectful especially for uber drivers
My go to spot in the city. For all my vegetarians, the chive & egg steamed buns are out of this world. The owners are the sweetest people too. Vegetarian options: Chive & Egg steamed buns
Tasty freshly made dumplings. Personally not a fan of chewy boiled dumplings so I prefer pan fried dumplings here. Also I must say the steamed mutton dumplings are really juicy and delicious! However, the flavoring is not very consistent. We ordered four different dumpling dishes, one of them were under salted, one was on point, yet the others were kind of salty. Overall it s a great dumpling restaurant and worth trying.
Soup dumplings were disappointing, other dumplings were just average.
Vegetarian options: Try their cucumber salad - better than anywhere else in the city. Be ready for the spice. Food
Ive heard many good things about this place, and after going here, I fully get the hype. First, I will say Ive had better soup dumplings before, but these are some of the best soup dumplings Ive had in Toronto (so far), especially for their price range! The inside is cramped, and you often get sat at a long table with other people at the other end. But honestly, I didnt mind the community style seating, and it was a great way to make use of the limited space they had. The food came out pretty quick, and the waitstaff was quick to get you what you needed. But, if you want something specific, you have to flag them down. They dont come to check on you like regular North American servers. Thats the norm in a lot of places, so I didnt mind, but just a heads up if you find that uncomfortable :)
Wheelchair accessibility: No wheelchair accesibility Food
Always love coming here! Good size portions and so tasty
I ordered the veggie dumplings (spinach and carrots etc) and the pork with cabbage dumplings. Both were absolutely delicious and good portion. I had them pan fried, next time I ll try them steamed. I took it to go and they gave me soy sauce and hot sauce with chopsticks (great customer service!).
delicious and a great price!
Kind of a dive. But their soup dumplings are awesome. More on pricier side and the menu is pretty limited. Service was okay.
Brings comfort food to a whole other level. Each bite of what I had here warmed up my entire body and made me feel at home. Atmosphere is casual, friendly, and gets the job done. No ritz - just great quality food, good service, all at a decent price. I felt healed eating here. Wheelchair accessibility: Small quarter flight of stairs to get inside (its below ground). Not wheelchair accessible unless you have someone to carry the chair/patron down the few steps.
Found out about this place through social media and thought I would give it a shot since I was around that area. They definitely hyped it up too much because I was extremely disappointed. To get there, you had to walk down a set of stairs. The restaurant was quite small and was only half packed when I went at dinner time on a Saturday. Even though it was half empty, they placed me on the table right in front of the restaurant and sat beside a table where they placed really riped bananas and vases of flowers along with a cluster of papers. When I ordered, they handed me a bunch of old receipts to write my order. I was hoping the food would at least make up the fact that the atmosphere was terrible but I was wrong. I ordered the fried pork and cabbage dumplings. I definitely expected the dumpling skin to be super crispy but only the bottom was crispy. While I was eating, I heard a loud crunch and found a small bone. However, I will say that when the dumplings arrived, they were served hot and were full of juice. They also have a very unique shape. But overall, I would definitely not come again.
Amazing dumplings. The pork, shrimp, chives dumplings were to die for, ended up getting frozen to leave. The red bean pancakes were good too and the steamed dumplings were so soft! I love them! Service was a little slow but that was because the place was full!
Staple
Extremely no frills kind of dim sum place. You write your order on a piece of paper and send it off. Minutes later food appears. The atmosphere is nothing to rave about but the food is good. We especially enjoyed the rolled beef pancake wrap, followed by pan fried pork dumplings and steamed chicken dumplings. The chilli oil on the table had a hair in it. Tried it one time. Likely wont be back.
Thank you Emily for your amazing welcomes and great food. Recommend the celery and tofu salad, the shredded potato salad and anyone of the dumplings. The dumplings !!!
Everything we had was AMAZING! loved the chive pockets, pork shrimp and cabbage dumplings, chicken and green pepper dumplings !
Very good dumplings and seaweed salad.
devoured pan fried dumplings, soup dumplings, glass noodles, giant steamed buns. all yummy yummy.
If you need your dumpling fix this is the place. Its not 100% but good enough if your not in china. The Xiao long bao were good along with the fried lamb dumplings. I would go back whenin TO on Biz.
Great Food in a small casual and modest restaurant in China Town! Loved the food. Wheelchair accessibility: No Whechair accessibility! You need to take stairs to go down.
Ordered shrimp and veggie fried dumplings, was super good!
Well a dear friend and I planned to go here because of all the Instagram hype. We got to the location at 79 Huron and it was closed. In fact, it was so closed there was a sign up saying when it will reopen. There were other people who were doing the exact same thing from Instagram and they were pissed it was closed.
Delightful place. Delicious foods. GREAT PRICE
Home style dumplings - the flavours are just right and the atmosphere is comforting
Everything was great. Quick service, long menu with any flavour dumplings you could want. Stuffed pancakes were awesome. The homemade chilli oil is amazing
Green onion pancake was good
Super tasty
One of the best dumpling houses that I have been to.
Dumplings were indeed yummy. The xlb were some of the best Ive ever had, I will definitely be back. There are other comments discussing the service but we didnt have any issues. Just remember that its cash and debit only!
Food was ok. Soup dumplings were juicy, however they very light on the filings, and not hot enough. Pan fried dumplings were good. Dumplings took a while to come out. The service was lacking overall. The servers asked us to write down the order on an old receipt instead of taking it directly which took much longer. It was a while to flag them down every time - for the order and for the check. Unless there were people waiting to be seated, then they would come and ask if you were done to bring the check to rush you out.
I love there green onion pancakes and their food is very affordable and delicious.
I went for the Xiao Long Bao and the beef pancake. One of the nicest chinese foods I had in Toronto. The price is alright, or strictly fair-valued. Tip: There is a 10% discount for cash. Food
Food was good, prices were affordable and portions were alright for sharing! Seating was ok but just a bit squishy as this place gets busy. We enjoyed the chicken dumplings and Chinese broccoli most, I found the fried rice and other dumplings ok. Note that they use only disposable cutlery and dishes and water is served cold. Also the chilli oil was amazing!
Yummy yummy indeed Vegetarian options: Good flavour Food : 5/5 |
The food was good. However, the old lady who was serving was insisting on getting the tip. We left some tips but she wanted more and was pointing to the bill and saying a MINIMUM of 18% of the tip. She did not speak English but was just saying TIP TIP TIP. It was really rude and inappropriate and ruined the whole experience. I understand that some servers really need that 15%-18% tip but I did not know that was a REQUIREMENT for this place.
My workplace ordered lunch for the whole team on Friday. I got the shrimp noodles and the rest of my team got a variety of pork dumplings, veggie noodles, pancakes and soup. On Saturday, I started feeling very nauseous and could not sleep all night long. Sunday morning, I kept vomiting non-stop and could not keep down any foods, not even a smoothie. I had body aches, diarrhea, a headache, stomach cramps and felt very weak. I thought maybe something I ate on Saturday made me sick or I contracted a virus. As I was not feeling well on Monday either, I called in sick and I was notified that most of my coworkers had gotten sick as well with the same symptoms. We had all gotten food poisoning. The only common denominator between all of us was the food from this restaurant. The food tasted good but there must have been some type of cross-contamination or maybe the meat was rotten since it gave us all food poisoning. Maybe this is a one-off moment but please ensure to order fresh meat and vegetables and to maintain a clean environment to prevent other customers from getting sick.
I highly highly recommend C4-Garlic Stir fry vegetables or smth, it s Choy Sum, kinda like Chinese broccoli - it was perfectly salty, super garlicky and soft. Also tried the Pork, shrimp and chives steamed dumplings. It was so chewy, juicy and flavourful. You can choose between boiled, pan fried and steamed. I found the green onion pancakes to be a less flavourful and bit much oily than other ones I ve tried but it was still pretty good! *** EDIT: Tried other menus too, personal favourite was pan fried pork and leek so far. Xiao long baos could be juicier & meatier but still good.
Found my new to go dumpling place! saw this place on tik tok and just had to try them out and honestly, it is so much better than Juicy Dumplings. Dont get me wrong! Juicy Dumpling is still good but OH MY GOD. They are pretty decently price, there chili oil is actually pretty fire. Best part is on the other side of the road, is the Mechlin star bubble tea. cant wait to come back. 1 down fall is, seating here is very tight. Waiting outside isnt a problem during the summer but I can imagine winter is horrible.
This place is my fav in the city! The food is incredible and the staff are so lovely and welcoming. It does get busy in the evenings, so you may have to wait in a line but its very worth it. Highly reccomend
One of the best dumplings places in the city.
A real mom and pop type restaurant. The food is amazing, the soup dumplings are some of the best Ive ever had and the owners are very friendly down to earth people. A Toronto gem for sure.
Thank you very much, auntie boss! As enthusiastic as ever, because I have a long way to go, help me make the dumplings in advance It was frozen solid, so I couldn t help but grab a pack when I got home. The familiar delicacy is worth the trip!
Mucked about 30 dumplings here the other day. Absolutely slapped. Dont take my word for it go secure the dumplings.
Great
The dumplings at this location were very tasty. All fresh and the wait is not long at all. I went with a group of friends and we waited less about 10-15 minutes. The owners and servers are very humble and pleasant. They don t really speak English, but you can tell that they re trying. The food is served with plastic plates with plastic utensils and paper cups for water. This is probably how they price lower, but that s okay as the food is worth its price. Upon entering, they greet you right away. Seating is a bit odd because they try to squeeze in as many people as possible. For example: a long table that would serve a party of eight will force you to have to sit with random stranger, Overall, my friends and I would definitely come back in the future. My tip is the earlier you go, the better as it gets busy quickly and you can t make any reservations. There is no parking in front of the restaurant. You will need to park further in on the side roads or on the main roads like Dundas and Spadina.
My downtown Toronto dumpling tour continues with Yummy Yummy the best so far. Service was quick. The xlb/juicy dumplings were boiling hot and full of soup. The pan fried dumplings were crisp on the outside and scrumptious. The portion size to cost ratio was good. Wheelchair accessibility: From street to restaurant entrance is a short flight of stairs with no ramp or lift.
We love this place! Found it in accident one time and keep coming back. Our go to s are the pork and chive steam buns and the same in dumplings, usually steamed and pan fried. The staff have always been so friendly and accommodating. They take cash and debit. It s not an especially fancy place but clean and nice, and the buns and dumplings are fantastic.
Came within the last hour before closing and was fortunate enough to be seated on a Friday night. This family run business is really nice feel to it also the server as we had Ying . Everything came out so quick. All the food was very Yummy . I would come back again.we had the -Cucumber salad -Pan fried pork & chive dumplings -Steamed Pork and celery.
Family run spot with a fantastic variety of dumplings in a cozy, yet no frills basement in Chinatown. By far the best dumplings in Toronto (way better than Mothers).
*Review is based on online ordering, not eating at the restaurant* Personally, I think Yummy Yummy beats out the other restaurants around the Chinatown area in my opinion! Ive been meaning to try this place and being stuck at home for work with 10 meetings, I took the opportunity to order online. Wow. There is nothing like handmade dumplings/buns, I tell you. In this day and age, when youre looking for convenience, most of the buns (dough) are machine made. Yes, you can definitely taste the difference. I ordered the spinach tofu, vermicelli boiled dumplings - Im not sure how I will be able to deviate from this one next time. Super flavourful and well-stuffed with veggies. The shengjian bao - oooh, I loved the bun as much as the filling. It was well-stuffed, but of course, the downside of ordering in is the base wasnt crispy, but will have to give this a try at the restaurant. The pork and celery pancake was also just as delicious - not sure, but it seemed like it was baked or griddled and not pan fried, as it was not oily on the outside. Makes for a great hand-held food item while working. Sliced potato salad - always a good go-to for me. All in all, will definitely order from here again.
Overall not recommend. Food is just okay but asking for mandatory tips is RIDICULOUS. We came here for dinner for the first time, ordered some dumplings, a few buns and a bowl of sour spicy soup. Since I ve tried so many dumpling restaurants in my country and my parents taught me how to make good dumplings, I d say from my perspective, their dumplings are so average. Doesn t worth the hype. Also I don t understand why it took so long to prepare those food, we sat there waiting for almost 20-30 min. The way they make the sour spicy soup is not authentic at all. Don t try that. When I went to pay, I already paid in cash. But the female owner suddenly asked me for tips, pointing at the tip section on the receipt. I literally can t understand how she is able to ask for tips with such slow service and average food level. Not YUMMY at all.
Disappointing experience. Firstly, the waiting time to have our food serve was longer than 25 minutes. Secondly, the food was just okay, nothing exceptional. Thirdly, I have serious concerns about the hygiene standards; the water bottle brought to our table had green algae around the lid, which is completely unacceptable. I will not be returning to this place.
Yummy yummy dumplings
This place is amazing. I ve been coming here for years, and I m always treated kindly by the staff. Hot and sour soup, juicy dumplings and pan fried pork and chive are my go-to s. The rude customer below named Romeo who didn t tip simply because the restaurant was busy? Maybe you shouldn t go out to eat. Them being busy can t be helped, and is not an excuse for to not tip. It must have been embarrassing for whoever you were dining with.
The food was great but way overpriced, and the lady had the audacity to ask me to break my last bill to give her a tip when I had just paid with exact cash. I complied but I wish I had said no haha You can t straight up ask for a tip that s just rude. I won t be coming back anytime soon cuz of that.
Food is okok but tipping culture where the lady ask for tips as compulsion and not willingness of customer is bad.
Enjoyed the good quality food and the friendly service.
I went to Qin s Garden, Yummy Yummy Dumplings, and Juicy Dumplings for a soup dumpling hop. Taking the cost into consideration, this place was a close second to Juicy Dumplings. Although the broth had slightly more depth and the filling was larger at Yummy s, it doesn t justify the price which was about twice as more expensive than Juicy s. If you re not concerned about value, this place has the best dumplings out of the three.
Went there because of 4.6 Google review points. Safe to say I was disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. Service was really slow. There were only 3 types of condiments on the table, lacking minced garlic - the most essential condiment for any half decent dumpling house. So, not authentic.
The food was okay, but the service and atmosphere were excellent
Vibe is intense because it is just so busy but they really try their best to get the foods to you as fast as they can. I mean this isn t a place you go for decor, better cutleries, service or anything so manage that expectation. In terms of food, the menu is very diverse. Soup dumplings was definitely worth the hype (almost forgot to take a pic because i enjoyed it too much). Mutton dumplings though I don t think they get good quality meat, I didn t like it at all. I would only go back only for the soup dumplings l.
Old little shop, the steps outside can be scary as it s quite narrow and steep. Decor is old, the service was great as they are very hospitable. Once seated you write down your order on a piece of paper. Price is okay. Food was great. The restaurant is quite small and they try to fit as many people as they can so it can be very crammed. Definitely a hot spot. If you pay cash, it s 10% off.
Well worth the wait and blew my expectations. Wait time isn t too long and staff were extremely friendly! They also don t use peanuts/nut in their food. Everything was delicious from the pan fried pork/chive dumpling, xiao long bao(pork soup dumpling and steamed shrimp/pork/chive dumpling. However, the sleeper and new favorite that surprised me was the chive pockets! It s beyond just chives, but had minced ginger, garlic and clear noodles inside. A perfect hot bite for the cold winter. Definitely a must try, and even the staff said it was their favorite.
The pork dumplings were good. I ordered takeout and it was relatively quick. They accept debit and cash.
Been here twice, had a bad first experience, but gave it another chance only to be disappointed even more. If you pay in cash, she ll give you the wrong amount of change to pressure you to tip upwards of 18% despite bad service throughout (most spots even give discounts for paying in cash but not here). My most recent visit, I found a shrimp in my pork and chive dumpling, and being allergic to shrimp I complained. The owner just apologized and had to ask a second time for them to replace the dish. They finally replaced it and at the end they ended up charging us for both plates. The owner just seems overly greedy, trying to squeeze you for every dollar, and doesn t care about customer loyalty. Also dumplings are average and are way too overpriced, so many better options.
i got steamed pork and green onion dumplings, steamed pork shrimp and chive dumplings, pork and chive steamed buns, cucumber salad, and green onion pancakes. unfortunately i did not enjoy either of the things with chives, the chives they used are quite sweet and fragrant or even floral, and not what i was expecting. also the green onion pancakes were very good and crispy but there was no green onion inside, just sprinkled on top which was a bit disappointing. the pork and green onion dumplings however were phenomenal! and the cucumber salad i absolutely loved. overall i would go back, would just revise my items ordered! would recommend :)
food was alright, not worth the hype. Expensive as is, lady pressured us to give tip and pressed the most tip the machine can give for us. Total was 90$ not worth it at all.
Food was ok. At first I was asked to wait outside for 20 to 30 minutes, when I thought it was it was my turn, the shop asked me to give my table to other 2 - 3 parties because I was just one person. I hesitated for a moment but then the shop let me in. And after I ordered, the shop suggested (albeit politely) if I dined alone not ordering a lot, I should take my order away instead. I was not happy about the service and would not go back again. Edit: if you are alone and not white, don t expect good services.
Exactly what you want from a dumpling spot. The owners mean business - they got our large group (6 people) seated within 5 minutes during a packed time of night. The dumplings we ordered were delicious and on the table within 10 minutes of ordering. This place testifies that you dont need a fancy atmosphere or dish ware to serve up excellent food with great service. Wheelchair accessibility: To enter the restaurant, you must go down a set of about 10 stairs.
Went here with my friend a week ago. Just remembered to post the review now. When i went here, all the food was amazing. The hot tea was so great perfect for winter brunches. The lady and the uncle were both very nice. This seems family owned, there s charm in places like this. For me this restaurant feels very homey, comfortable. I was going to go again today and get the soup dumplings but theyre closed i will come again soon!!!! Overall amazing 10/10 experience!!! Had a great time w my friend.
What an awesome dumpling place. Has a very cosy no frills vibe. Love the variety of options they have for dumplings, which suit most dietary needs. And the prices are very reasonable. Be prepared to wait if you go during a busy time. There is lots of seating. About 10-12 tables. They do not rush you. My absolute favorite were the chive pockets. They re like a big flat dumpling pocket with chive and egg. Delicious texture. Also loved the stuffed pancake. It was so light and fluffy. Hot and sour soup was nice and sour. Soup dumplings were great. Loved the chili oil on the side. I d say you can t go wrong with any of the options here. Overall awesome spot.
Average taste, average service, ok for a dumpling spot downtown. Nothing special. It feels more like a food court - you write down your own order, have to share tables with strangers when its busy. When theres a lot of people, they seem understaffed. Theres only 1 lady doing everything, so you have to wait a while. Very limited English, but fine if you speak Mandarin.
Not bad but overpriced. (and the aunt will ask more tips. I updated the review after the second time visit. The aunt still asked for more tips even though it basically has no services and the waiting time is quite long. 10% tips is already too good especially the food is already overpriced and it was paid in cash. Come on just stop asking the customers for more tips , it s super annoying
Delicious homemade dumplings. Fast and friendly service. Very casual.
Very good food overall. Simple, mostly traditional northern favorites. The clams and xiao long bao were truly excellent. We were less impressed with the onion pancake and soy milk (pancake didnt have enough layers and soy milk is probably made from soy milk powder). Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian and vegan options on menu. Kid-friendliness: Probably a decent place for kids. Its via stairs in basement so not stroller friendly.
I ordered food through an app and I was dissapointed. I had high expectations but it was honestly nothing special.
The place claims to be open till 9pm but we reached at 8:40pm and were told that its closed. This was yelled by a lady across the room as we entered through the main entrance. People were sitting inside dining. The only reason we went to this place is because Dumpling House is closed on Tuesdays. Clearly they dont want to do business or maybe want diners of a certain type! Who knows?! Update your timing to reflect accurately that you dont serve till 9pm.
Yummy Yummy Dumplings? I dont know, didnt get the chance to dig into them. Was rudely shunted out of the restaurant by a woman who said the restaurant is closed. We reached at 8.35 pm and the restaurant was supposed to serve till 9 pm. We came in a snow storm and were disappointed to be sent back.
Very nice and tasty. Bring a authentic Chinese boy with you for the translation purposes
Yummy dumplings indeed!! I didnt expect this restaurant will be this yummy. Its beyond my expectations!! You have to try all kinds of dumplings; boiled, steamed, and pan fried. I would recommend order C08 fried clams with cumin and chilli oil. It was so good, so flavorful, not too spicy and not too salty. Steamed juicy pork bun is juicy indeed. The soup inside was so good. Pam fried is crispy outside and tender in the inside. Boiled dumplings is so soft and so good. Nothing too salty at all so try adding a little bit of soy sauce, vinegar and chilli oil on your plate and dip dumplings in it. Dont forget to order low sugar homemade soup milk with you food. Taste fresh and warm you up. The owner is so friendly and take time to explain each dish with her limited English. They also have frozen dumplings that you can take home for only $10 for 20 dumplings!!!! Must try!!!!
The best dumplings in the city
3.2/5 Overpriced and pretty average food. There were no Chinese patrons at this restaurant, which was the first red flag. I had visited years ago when each dish was very affordable and tasty so we decided to drop by. Now it s quite expensive and the dumplings were good but certainly nothing we were impressed by. They told us cash only when clearly others were paying by card. They use disposable cutlery and the service is subpar. I unfortunately have no more stars to give here.
Dont expect the Keg atmosphere...expect polite, curtious Asian culture and feel in addition to old world comfort food.
The staff were fantastic and the food was so fresh and flavorful... Well worth the over 1 hour drive into Toronto
Amazing dumplings Good prices Too bad one of the lady would press me to pay and go while I was finishing my tea Food : 5/5
Staff will mad on you if you don t give enough tips. Foods are good but services not good. Food
A hidden gem located in Chinatown! This restaurant offers delicious juicy dumplings at a reasonable price. All of the employees were also very kind and sweet. Definitely coming back here!
Amazing. I ordered Pork & Cabbage boiled dumplings and they were soo tasty and juicy. Definitely recommend this winter season
Very delicious Dumplings, Xiao Long Bao & Noodles. Everything is homemade and so yummy. Owner is very friendly and kind..very recommended! Love it!
I was appalled after reading the vast number of reviews on how great this place is. We went here as dumpling house was closed. We arrived to be greeted by paper plates, not sure if this is a regular thing but wow.. our dumplings came burned. The pancakes were just ok again. The soup was subpar and bland with overcooked greens. We ordered a noodle dish that was bland as well with no flavor or color. Was terrible.. will never come back. Save the trip and money just go to dumpling house!!
Server grabbing our order was kind, ordered 2 types of dumplings first ones came quickly around 10 minutes but, the second plate of dumplings took over 30 minutes to come out. When we went to pay, a different lady insisted on getting a tip and kept pointing at the bill where the tip options were and even after saying no especially after having terrible service, they insisted on us tipping them. Very pricey for what you get, around $30 for only 2 dumpling plates
Really good restaurant. Would recommend!
Loved their momos and pancakes Even though the veg options were limited But the nonveggi dishes are good Vegetarian options: Limited
I ve been coming here for many years. The owner is the most loving natured human She s everyone s mom. The dumplings are great and you can see the cooks making them.
Arrived for dinner on a Thursday night and waited about 30 mins for a table. When we were seated, several other tables were going to cash out at the register so no one brought us any menus for close to 10 minutes. I went and grabbed the menus myself. We wrote our order on the paper at the table but no one came to take the paper. We waited 5 more mins until someone grabbed the paper. She came back a couple minutes later to confirm the order with us. We had an order of noodles, pork soup Dumplings, Steamed pork and chive Dumplings, and the beef pancake roll. The food was delicious! The soup Dumplings were the last to come and took quite a while. There was only 1 woman working the whole restaurant and 2 cooks in the back. While the woman working the tables was very kind, they needed more staff to provide quicker service. Im glad we had a carafe of water because they wouldnt have had time to refill glasses. Also, they were very skimpy with napkins... The food is excellent!! Maybe try to come when it isnt too busy?
Hidden gem in Toronto!! (idrk if its hidden but i just found out about them today) We got the Jellyfish and cucumber, Garlic stirfried veggies, Xiao long bao, and the Chives shrimp and pork panfried dumplings, and every one of them is amazing!!
Meh! Not worth lining up for. Dumplings are okay, not worth the hype. Very slow service and the waitress has the audacity to verbally ask for mandatory tip. We waited about 15 mins outside on a cold Saturday night just to dine. We had four orders and it took them an hour to complete it. When we settled the bill, I opted for the no tip option because of the long wait and food came in one by one. She cancelled the payment and told me to tip because people in the kitchen are very busy. I was like what the heck?! Haha paid her in cash with no tip. Don t visit. Not worth it.
Delicious!!! Would recommend everything! Their foods don t contain any MSG so it is a big plus.
Very busy and packed place . Very friendly staff, moderate food turnout time. food is delicious too.
The food was good but not amazing. Waiter expected a tip and confronted me about it even though the service was slow and average Food : 3/5
Messed up my order, charged for extra item and instead of refunding, they forced us to pay for it and take it home. Horrible experience.
One of the best dumpling places I ve been to Even if there is a line, parties don t wait long to get seated. My boyfriend and I had the chive pockets, pan-fried pork, shrimp + chive dumplings, and the infamous xaio-long bao (soup dumplings). This was the perfect amount for two of us. Everything was served hot and so wonderfully juicy. The waiters were very friendly as well.
Great food, probably the best dumplings downtown. The soup broth inside the dumplings is so good and everything is served fresh. The kitchen is a bit slow and they close earlier than advertised on Google, I would call in before walking in close to closing.
Delicious, super friendly, and warm little restaurant. The food is very little though so youd have to spend quite a lot here to get a meal and not feel hungry after
The food here is amazing and the staff are friendly and helpful! I love this place
This is an authentic dumpling place, family owned business and very delicious dumplings. Our go to for Chinese. We love it!
Went here for dinner and left disappointed. Pricey for what you get and the quality is sub-par. Would not recommend considering there s plenty of tastier and cheaper alternatives nearby. Paid over $80 for 4 people and a few dishes. If you go, keep in mind they only accept cash and debit.
I m giving this place a perfect 5 stars because the food really is that good however keep in mind the service here is kinda funky lol but don t let that take away from your delicious meal, just accept it for what it is and eat on! also, expect to wait which is a given at any good spot. Yummy Yummy Dumplings truly lives up to its name
First time trying soup dumplings (juicy pork buns) and they did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious. Also recommend the cucumber salad and mutton, shrimp & chive dumplings (pan fried). Will definitely be coming back!
The food was worth the money you pay. Its delicious and no nonsense, however im sad to say that even when i didnt ask for anything extra in terms of service i was forced to pay a tip. Paying or not paying a tip should be an exclusive choice of any patron and they should not be coerced/shamed into paying extra just because. Its not the tip amount but the forced tipping that soured my experience post food. Like literally when i was about to tap to pay my transaction was cancelled by the lady at the till and then forced to select a tip option. I am not ok with this and the business should refrain from doing this. Others should note too.
Tbe secret treasure of china town. Go tbere early to get a table and endulge yourself with the home made dumplings and steamed buns and pancakes. Next to warm soymilk. Omg this place made me feel like home . LOVE THE OWNER SO MUCH. Such lovely people. No pictures as the food was too good and we where starving. Wheelchair accessibility: Absolutly not .
It s alright. I wouldn t really line up to go here again. I think it s a family business and they re all very busy working to fulfill all the orders but the food is just okay. I d rather go to the other dumpling places nearby.
$17 for 10 mediocre beef dumplings :/
The best dumplings I have ever eaten in my life! I will definitely be coming back and am looking forward to it. Incredible and made to order so it s piping hot and fresh. Absolutely delicious! Items come out one or two dishes at a time as they are made to order, so keep that in mind if you re short on time (to be expected and not a problem for me at all)
The store is ran by two elderly that spoke a limited amount of English. Expect a long line up due to the recent popularity on social media. During the dinner rush, patrons will have to share the table with other groups. Note that this restaurant is cash only. Unfortunately, this location is too overhyped by social media. The food is okay, definitely not the best. The steamed soup dumpling taste very similar to the well-known dumpling store nearby, but here cost twice as much. Do not expect any quality service as the line up is super long. In addition, the language barrier might be inconvenient for some groups. The only good dish we tried was the spicy clam with cumin, as the portion was great and it was flavourful without being too overwhelming. A bit ironic given this restaurant specializes in dumplings. Kid-friendliness: The size of the menu items are perfect for kids. There are a lot of flavors available, suitable for everyone. Wheelchair accessibility: Unfortunately this location is not wheelchair accessible, one must go down a set of stairs to reach the entrance of the restaurant.
These dumplings really were yummy thank u guys I love u
Food was okay. But our order was delayed by 1 hour and when I asked the server where our food was, she was gaslighting our table, telling us it was already given out, even though our single plate was still there and no one serviced us. We noticed that other tables around us all got mixed up and late orders. I get it, if it was busy and then stuff happens. But restaurant was half full, and they never acknowledged the mistake. Will not come here again and will just go to juicy dumpling down the street.
