Generous portion sizes, great tasting food and kind service. Will definitely recommend to others. Tried the t-bone with pasta and goat meat and rice. Came with complementary lentil soup and mango juice, refilled upon request with no charge. Had the somali tea and burr/malawax and not super sweet just right. 👌🏾
Ifrah is the best out here. Friendly, funny and always smiling. Will be coming back often. This is my first time tasting Somalian dish and I 100% recommend this place.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food reviews and posts! Resting on a king-sized bed of fragrant, colourful medium-grain rice is a rack of goat ribs, sweating its juices for the rice to absorb. Its light sheen of lamb fat on the rice, in addition to turmeric and other aromatic spices, makes the rice almost as addicting as the meat itself. Each bite is juicy and tender, especially indulgent if you get a bite of meat and fat that perfumes the alluring goat aroma I love. The distinct char also adds a delicious depth of flavour, where along with the lettuce salad and veggies, keep each bite as exciting as the last.
This is a place which we always go to. THE BEST Somali food in the city, period. Very good service, great food, good ambience and overall a must-visit!
Great place for authentic Somali and East African cuisine. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. I ordered the beef steak with Chapati. It was served with lentil soup, salad and juice. The quality and quantity of food you get is reasonable. The milk tea is fantastic as well. Highly recommended you try Waanag if you’re in Toronto!
My experience at Wanaag was outstanding, to say the least. The food is absolutely delicious and the environment is also welcoming. I ordered the chicken suqaar and everything about the dish was amazing, not to mention the huge portion size. The chicken along with the rice and veggies were wonderfully seasoned and I even had leftovers to take home and enjoy. The lentil soup that came with the meal was also very enjoyable. In addition to that I got to try the milk cake which was excellent! If you haven’t tried Somali cuisine or East African food in general, I would definitely recommend Wanaag. Honestly even if you’re just in the area and looking for a place to eat I’d still highly recommend it.
Two of us got one beef and rice dish with samosas and caramel cake and still had leftovers. Very generous portions with incredible flavour! FYI, takeout menu appears to be a little different than dine-in.
We come here once a week! The portion sizes are generous – you get great value for your money. The highlight of the meal was the perfectly seasoned, melt-in-your-mouth meat that was so tender! The dish is incredibly satisfying! On top of the delicious food, the staff was warm and welcoming, making sure we felt right at home throughout the entire visit. If you're looking for authentic Somali cuisine with amazing portions and top-notch service, this place is a must-visit!
Got the T bone steak and it was delicious. The steak was seasoned perfectly and fall of the bone tender. Rice was spiced amazing too. Comes with a side of free Lentil soup and mango juice. If you re into spice ask for the hot sauce made of out of green chillies. Portions are huge and a great value for money as well. Highly recommended!
Best Somali food in Canada... Newest iconic restaurant for all East Africans in Toronto!!
Wanaag Restaurant We dined at this restaurant, The lentil soup is Rich with flavors. Big portions. We spent 20 $10- per person Im going back there today to buy lentil soup for my guests. I had the ugly with spinach generous portions. Great service. You can consider ugali with spinach as vegetarian. Its basically corn and spinach. By far the most generous restaurant in Toronto. I cant comment about the parking cuz I was there Sunday night
The best food in the town mashallah Wanaag Restaurant.

Ifrah is very friendly and served with a big smile. Listened keenly and was prompt with to the service. Food
Loved the name but came for the world famous Somali cuisine in downtown... Freshly made ingredients with tender meats... We had goat & beef suqaar with rice... The owner & staff were very hospitable & warming just like the ambience... Definitely a bucket list restaurant in Toronto 10/10 ITS MUST SEE TO BELIEVE!!
The chicken suqqar is SO GOOD!!!! Very flavorful. The hot sauce is great also!
Amazing place
Amazing fresh food
Goat soup is the best and lentil soup too
If you re looking for a delicious dining experience, this restaurant is a must-try! Their goat with soup dish is nothing short of phenomenal tender, flavorful goat paired perfectly with a rich, aromatic broth that s both hearty and comforting. The flavors are well-balanced, bringing out the unique taste of the meat while enhancing it with spices that create depth and warmth. The soup itself is just the right consistency, filling but not overwhelming, making it an ideal dish for anyone craving a warm, satisfying meal. It s evident that a lot of care goes into preparing this dish, making it not just a meal but a memorable experience!
Never a disappointment! The food here is absolutely delicious. For first timers, I recommend the beef steak and t-bone.
Best Somali food in Toronto! . This place is the GOAT, also the goat ribs
Food was delicious however service was terrible, we ordered two family size platters and were not given the proper amount of plates or cutlery and had to ask for every little thing over and over again. The servers seemed to have a terrible attitude and did not care to check up on anything.
Dining at Wanaag was fantastic! Our waitress, Ifrah, was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive, offering excellent menu recommendations. The food was fresh and full of flavor, beautifully presented. Ifrah s service made our experience even better. Highly recommend both Wanaag and Ifrah s exceptional service!
The food was amazing!!! The flavours, immaculate. The ambiance, immaculate. The vibes, immaculate. And our server, Ifrah was wonderful
Food was great! Ifrah was amazing, thank you
Best African restaurant in downtown One of the employees bintu serviced me today, hands down she has the customer services. Vegetarian options: They have a few good options
Absolutely marvelous. I enjoyed spending time with my Sisters and distant relatives.
Experience was great. Our server Ifra made us feel very welcome. I will definitely be back. Vegetarian options: Very limited vegetarian dinner dishes.
Food: Meat was so dry. Rice was hot and tasty. Soup was cold. They forgot to serve one of the chicken wraps. Plate was broken and dirty. Service: There was enough server to serve customers. Unfortunately they didn t have proper training or working long hours. When we need something We have to leave the table and ask. Cause there was no server around us. They didn t bother asking how was the food. I didn t forget to leave the tips. (18%) It was my as usual giving back to the business. I strongly recommend please pay attention to the restaurant. You can do better. I will visit the restaurant again to give another try and keep you posted.
I recently went to Wanaag restaurant and I have to say it exceeded all my expectations! The stuff created top-tier experience for my family and I. Food

The food is phenomenal the service is good. To any of my coworkers in the Toronto Transit commission if youre in the area try the food its dynamite. Im a wheel trans driver I drive the whole city this is one restaurant I always eat in when Im in the area.
Must try. The food is amazing.
Im a regular customer there and not only myself but others I go with or know around the mosque has said the same thing which I hope the owner can take this feed back seriously and work on it. the consistency of food quality is not there. one week is good next week is not, even if you order the same plate.. the rice is absolutely very bad quality of rice or cooking. . please check hamdi resturant or the other somali resturant not far from there they all have good rice and copy them. I literally cant eat the rice there. it is like someone learning how to cook or they have different cook every time. please improve the quality of rice and cooking and make sure the meat is juicy well cooked not dry or cant be chewed and for the salad. please dont put just lettuce looks ugly on the plate. either put proper salad or dont put it at all. . the other resturant has some fruits with salad makes the plate looks desirable. lastly, every time i see new staff there and not well trained. they bring the plate and forget to bring spoon or such errors that should be avoided. the resturant need proper managements and supervision with improving in both service and food quality. im glad to have such resturant around and hope to see things improved or at least go back to the way they were when first opened.
I came here a long time ago when they opened, the food was good. now, it is 0 food and 0 customer service.
I love wanaag. The owner is a nice generous man. Clean place, great customer service, and mainly great food.
Unorganized, chaotic and horrible service. Overcharged us for the food and failed to provide receipt because the paper ran out and instead emailed us the overcharged total. Food is good but establishment severely lacking management. Food
Delicious food and great customer service! Highly recommend coming to this restaurant.
Food was amazing and the people and atmosphere was awesome, you have to come here if your downtown
I recently visited Wanaag restaurant and was blown away by the incredible Somali cuisine. As someone who had never tried Somali food before, I was thrilled with the experience. The beef samosas were out of this world perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. The portions were generous, ensuring you get great value for your money. I highly recommend Wanaag to anyone looking for an amazing culinary adventure. This restaurant is a must-visit!
Good food
Were went Eidul adhaa with our family we were surprised when we order extra lemonade Jug drink which is basic lemonade it was very expensive 28$ same price as plate of food we thought thats expensive for basic lemonade.
It was my first time. We had good Food, big portion and it is affordable prices. Thank you Chef Ibrahim Mataan and Ayuub for welcoming us. We are looking forward to come back on the weekend.
Wanaag Restaurant is fantastic with its warm atmosphere and friendly service. The Somali dishes are delicious, especially the chicken suqaar with rice. It s a great spot to enjoy authentic flavors in a cozy setting. The milk cake is amazing as well. 5 stars, would definitely recommend to all my friends!!
I recently visited Wanaag Somalian Restaurant for the first time, and it was an incredible introduction to Somali cuisine. As a newcomer, I wasnt sure what to order, but thankfully, my Somali friend guided me through the menu. I decided to try the goat, which is a popular choice for first-timers, and it did not disappoint. The meat was tender and flavorful, making for a delightful meal. Besides the main dishes, I also enjoyed their samosas and a type of bun whose name escapes me, but both were delicious. One of the highlights of my meal was the Somali tea, a sweet black milk tea that perfectly complemented the food. The overall experience was fantastic, and I will definitely be returning for takeout. If youre curious about Somali cuisine, I highly recommend giving Wanaag Somalian Restaurant a try. You wont be disappointed!
Amazing place great food and great service
Their t bone and pasta combo FTW. Each dish comes with juice and lentil soup as well, and the price is really reasonable!
Great food, owner was nice and hospitable.
Food is in my top 3 Toronto Somalian food 10/10 everytime
This is a very clean restaurant, delicious food, great workers, and fair prices thank you very much, and keep it up.
This restaurant always have issues with their tablets whenever I order through Skip the Dishes or Doordash. The owner should do something about it if not the restaurant will lose a lot of customers. Their customer service is not great either, they never listen to customers.
Excellent service
Great food and real authentic Somali dishes.
Had the steak plate. Generous portions, deep flavour, and came with lentil soup & mango juice! A little bit on the salty side but overall, a great meal.
The food was amazing. For $20 you get a nice bowl of soup and a super size plate of food.( I would call it a platter). A plate can easily be shared for three person. Service was standard but the food was nicely flavoured. The beef was my favourite. We also tried the samosas- highly recommend trying. The price for 2 course meal is unbelievable. For two persons we paid under $50. That includes the two meals, samosas and Tatar. I don t think no one can beat the price. I highly recommend.
I had their beef and rice lunch set. It came with a soup and a drink: lemon or mango juice. Fantastic flavors!
Best somali restaurant in downtown. Fast and delicious
Great food and friendly staff
This restaurant is an excellent introduction to Somali cuisine. I highly recommend going. The space is extremely clean, staff are friendly and the food, delicious.
Such great food and service for such a great price! Our first time trying Somalian food and it did not disappoint. The staff was absolutely lovely we well. Thank you!
Im absolutely satisfied the service, ta tast, the high standard their customer service and most of all the price.
Great, beautiful place and delicious food, thank you for zulaifa the wonderful service.
Good
Rude people
I have been a customer at Wanaag for a while now, I actually go there at least once a week in the middle of the workday. Unfortunately, today i met the owner Mr. i know everything and he couldn t resist minding his own business especially about a matter he knows nothing about and was absolutely wrong at the same time. The food is good here but the service, attitude and professionalism is not worth the visit. I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone and i will make sure to let all my circle know about this.
Oh man such great somali food !!! My favourite somali restaurant so far! I ordered via delivery and the food was warm. My wife and i dug in and it was all so delicious. The T-Bone steak was slightly tender, i m sure it would ve been fall-off-the-bone in-restaurant, but it was very good! The side of pasta is a full serving on its own. It is cooked and seasoned so well, we were quite surprised!! Really enjoyed the pasta. The goat with rice was also great, very tender and the rice was so flavourful as well. I highly recommend both dishes, you can t go wrong. But special shout out to the pasta, I d choose that as the side dish. The portion sizes were huge! It s a lot more meat than it looks like in the pictures for sure. You can easily eat one dish for two. So i m quite happy with the price/dish and the value you get! Overall, I can t wait to come in person to try this food fresh!
Its not clean. Attendants there think everyone is a somali
A place to always fall back to when hungry
Food was great, delicious. Only downside they mopped when we were seated, nothing wrong with cleaning but at least wait or block customers from that section not cool.
The best T-bone ever
Wonderful
The somali milk cake
I stepped into their establishment to try their very own beef samosas that blew me out of this universe! The beef samosa filling is lightly seasoned with traditional eastern African spices that will have you craving more!
Delicious authentic East African food. The price was very reason for the portion size you get. I highly recommend you try this restaurant if you are downtown.
This is my first time trying somali food and it was amazing! I am usually not impressed by restaurant food but this was absolutely amazing. The rice is so flavourful and so is the meat. The portions are very generous. Please never change your menu! Food
Great Beef Sukkar and Somali Tea.
Everything is perfect, thank you for your hospitality!
A simple room with excellent food in generous portions. We probably go in twice a month or more. Get samosas if they have them!
Very tasty t bone steak meal. It s our second time. Will go back again.
The food is incredible! Service is absolutely lovely, genuine, and professional. I adore this place! I always leave full and happy.
The mutton gravy was bitter and the food came out cold.
Coming from India this has become of my best places to eat. Made me fall in love with somalian cusine. My favourite is the T-bone steak and the shawarma.
Went there for my wife s birthday. Probably the best hospitality i have seen in downtown toronto. Khalid knows how to take care of his guests. Amazing food, amazing ambiance, a great experience altogether. Kudos to the team on running a great restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Good for children.
Best Services ever and love there food so much

Friendly service and tasty food. Portion sizes are very generous. I really enjoyed the lentils soup and the meat samosas. Looking forward to dinning here again soon! Dietary restrictions: Halal
One of the best goat meat I ever had. Amazing food and services.
Really good food. The beef sugaar taste like Pakistani pasandey and the rice is very flavourful and has an added flavour of lemon that kicks it up a notch. You also get complimentary orange juice n lentil soup. You can be sure to have another bowl of the lentil soup. A must try if ur in the area. Pocket friendly will th huge portions and great taste. A cheap eats delight.
T-bone steak with rice was excellent. Meat falls off the bone soft and yummy. Rice nicely cooked with a wonderful flavor. Soup is lentil soup, delicious and warm on a cold day. Place is super clean and staff is pleasant. My favorite Somali food in the city, definitely worth the 40 minute drive there.
Fire. I would highly recommend this.
Good food and One of the best somalian restaurant.
probably one of the best food i ve had, im not even somalli but i know this is as real as it gets. i had the t bone steak which when i asked the chef was told that they put it in the oven, then place it grill. they repeat the process 3 times. The service was very good, i got the chance to meet the head chef of the kitchen called ayoub whom was exceptionally kind.
amazing and super friendly staff !!
Allahumabarik! Very well done! The ladies behind the counter were so kind.
The best place in toronto to get a proper meal for a decent price. The portions are amazing, the flavor is out of this world and most importantly the hospitality was really special. I recommend anyone to go out of their way to try this amazing place.
wish it was possible to give more than 5 stars. I had such a lovely experience at Wanaag It was my first time eating from there and I loved it. The server was very friendly and sweet. The portions are huge and the food is awesome!
Best Somali food and hospitality in town. Breakfast, lunch and dinner 5 stars Food : 5/5
My lovely colleague put me on and got me the goat ribs! Absolutely amazing. Portion was perfect, and seasoned to perfection!!! I would totally recommend.
Amazing Somali restaurant, the food is delicious and freshly prepared. The owner is very kind and welcoming. I will definitely recommend to anyone who is around downtown area.
Authentic delicious Somali dishes.
The best meat
We just had dinner in this restaurant and it was spectacular as we entered, we received spectacular treatment from the waitress advising dishes, the arrival of our order was the surprise that the dishes are very large and delicious, a clean, spacious place and a price spectacular. VERY GOOD FOOD
Wow!
Every aspect of the meal was excellent. Meat (goat, beef stew) was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Rice and pasta likewise. Hot sauce complimented the food perfectly. Highly recommend.
Legendary place, amazing owner, nice service. Trust me, this is the spot to go to. Dietary restrictions: 100%% halal
Amazing food
Excellent food . I especially recommend the T-bone steak . I had never tasted such good meat ! Food comes with a lentil soup and mango juice for no extra cost . The price is very decent and the food will be remembered . My family and I will definitely come back next time we are in Toronto .
Great experience
Absolutely loved this place! It was our first time trying Somali food and Im so in love. I will definitely come again In shaa Allah. The service was great, and each food portion were enough for 2 so we had to take home half of it.
Great restaurants and number 1 in downtown Toronto location amazing food and services.
