Shalom is an Ethiopian restaurant in Cabbagetown that has takeout of our signature Taste of Shalom samplers as well as veggie samplers wrapped in spongy injera bread. Come experience a new level of taste.Courtesy of our renovations. New Management and same great chef
I recently visited Shalom Ethiopian & Eritrean Restaurant was absolutely blown away. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance and the music was warm and inviting. The owner(Saba) was incredibly attentive and friendly, ensuring I felt welcome and cared for throughout the meal. She was knowledgeable about the menu and gave me an excellent recommendations. I had Genfo with Ethiopian traditional coffee Ceremony—it was phenomenal and mouthwatering! Every dish was beautifully presented, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The attention to detail here is impeccable, and the prices were reasonable given the high quality of the experience. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy an unforgettable meal, Shalom Ethiopian & Eritrean Restaurant is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return and try more from the menu!
Cozy restaurant with amazing food! Generous portions and very tasty. Staff are lovely too! I normally don’t eat carbs … but I will for shalom 😍
Despite being in Toronto for only two days, we are so glad that we decided to make our way to Shalom for lunch. The Shalom platter was beautifully prepared, packs a punch in flavor, and generous in portions. We also opted to try the traditional coffee ceremony. From roasting to brewing to sharing the cultural meaning behind the ceremony, our server went above and beyond in ensuring we had a unique and beautiful experience - Konjo Buna!
Sooooo good. We drove from Hamilton to come here, and it did not disappoint. We are 3 people with healthy appetites... we got a vegetarian platter for 2 and a meat platter for 2, and we cleaned the platter. We forgot to do a before and after. I guess we will have to come back to take the before :)
Really incredible Ethiopian food in a homey atmosphere with lovely service. My friend and I wanted authentic Ethiopian food in Toronto (as people who grew up in New York/Philly) and this place delivered! We got the Taste of Shalom to split so we could try a variety of vegetarian dishes, a meat (lamb), and plenty of injera, as well as a fresh coffee. Service was super friendly, and they were able to adjust the heat on the meat portion to suit our preferences. Prices were also extremely reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. Highly recommend!!
This was such a great restaurant! I've never had Ethiopian food before so was excited to try. It was really delicious! The shared plate for 2 was a perfect amount of food. The service was amazing. Very accommodating of allergies and helped explain the dishes on the platter. What a great gem in Cabbagetown. Really recommend it!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Toronto! The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the incense smells amazing, and the food and service are excellent. The vegetarian platter is rich with complementing flavors. We also tried the coffee ceremony, and the coffee is so robust and tasty. Thank you so much! I will miss this place and will always come back to it every time I’m in Toronto.
Such a lovely spot for some of the BEST Ethiopian food! The owner is so wonderful and we LOVED the coffee ceremony experience. The lamb stew was especially delicious, and most of the platters are gluten free (one of our party has an allergy)! Just a great place for an excellent meal with friends and family!
One of my favourite restaurants and have been coming here for years now. A welcoming, down to earth atmosphere. Warm and friendly service and great food! Their Doro Wot, Kitfo and Tibs are sooooo good! Make sure to also check them out on the weekends as well as they offer an Ethiopian brunch menu consisting of traditional and flavourful breakfast items, as well as the full service coffee ceremony with incense and popcorn. Its not on the menu but make sure to ask for the Ethiopian Shakshuka made with sauteed onions, garlic, peppers and berbere spices. It is hands down one of my favourite dishes and served with homemade bread. Saba always provides outstanding service and their new chef Bemnet is amazing! Make sure you try this place, you wont forget it and will definitely want to go back!
Beautiful service, exceptional food. We will be coming back often.
Wonderful dinner. Proprietor was delightful, attentive, and committed to authentic healthy cuisine. The injera is made with 100% teff thus safe for celiacs! The food was nicely seasoned without being overly oily or salty. Chill atmosphere. Modestly priced. Highly recommend! We cleaned the plate and enjoyed our meal immensely.
The service was excellent attentive and friendly. The food was good, though a bit spicy for our taste. But the coffee was definitely one of the best I ve ever had!
Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and professional. Food is consistently good, very healthy and flavorful without being too spicy. They serve the best coffee in the city (owner used to be a barista). Very good hours. Parking: It s fairly easy to find paid parking on the street in front of the restaurant. $4/hour. Must pay as it is constantly being checked even if you are dashing in to collect a pickup order.
Great food, great talk with the servers, cant wait to go back to toronto and return there.
I went there today with my wife and her parents because we wanted them to try how amazing Ethiopian food is. They enjoyed it! The food was incredible, and so was the coffee that we ordered .The lady working took good care of us. Parking: We used street parking and it s $4/hr
Amazing food. Great price. Phenomenal service, the lady who served us was an angel.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shalom Ethiopian Restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. The food was exceptional I ordered the meat combo with 100% teff gluten-free injera bread, and it tasted amazing! The flavors were rich and authentic. The restaurant itself is clean and has a nice, welcoming environment. The service was outstanding friendly and attentive staff who made the experience even better. I highly recommend Shalom Ethiopian Restaurant to anyone looking to try Ethiopian food. You won t be disappointed!
Food is tasty. However the take out portion for 1 person vege combo platter was very very small. The portion size was more of a kids meal. I love Ethiopian food and have eaten at many comparable restaurants in Toronto- this was the smallest portion size I ve ever been served. It was not worth the price. I was still quite hungry after. I don t mind paying a good price at all for good food but this was just disrespectful. Weird because it gets good reviews. I don t know if they serve a different size for eat in but do not recommend the take out. I will head back to regular spots on the Danforth and won t support this business again unfortunately.
Ethiopian & Eritrean restaurant in my Neighborhoods Cabbagetown finally I dont have to go far to find a great authentic food, I have Kita Firfir & Firfir, I wish I can show you the pictures but as they say, write a review after you eaten, the food very tasty the price is very reasonable,Cheers!! Its a big win for the customer!!
Wasn t really feeling it. Not my favorite habesha restaurant in the area by any means.
Great food, wonderful owners!
We had dinner there last night with some relatives from outside of Canada. The owner was so nice and sat down with us as had coffee and we talked about culture and the food. It was an incredibly pleasant, thoroughly unique experience. Well definitely be going back again.
My husband and 2 young children went for dinner here yesterday and we had such a wonderful time. The food was amazing but most of all the owner was SO lovely! She was great with my kids and made the restaurant feel homely!! We will visit again.
The worst food you can ever taste in Toronto. And they are rude if you complain. Never go there!!!
My lovely restaurant.
Family run. Atmosphere is exactly what s you d want, homely and authentic, not fancy and upscale. The food is AMAZING. And served in a traditional way, and service is warm. The platters are a whole deal with lots of variety and I can bet you won t be able to finish it.
Great food, huge portions and amazing service!
The long wait for the food is definitely worth it. I tried the vegetarian platter and my friend had the meat platter. And the coffee ceremony was exquisite.
Family run place, cozy and delicious food. Would definitely go back for more.
Awesome! Just awesome! I loved the Kitfo! We also ordered the Shalom plate. Get the Kitfo raw the way it should be eaten and you wont be disappointed. The seasoning is perfect and the staff are so friendly. I feel like Im visiting a friend versus eating at a restaurant. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of beer or tej, but the food was awesome and more than made up for the lack of alcohol. There was a steady stream of customers as well that came in despite the subzero temperature. Much like the Terminator, Ill be back the next time Im in the Toronto area. Vegetarian options: Lots of veg options.
Authentic and heartily habasha food! The auntie working the floor was really sweet and patience with my table.
Delicious Ethiopian food and great portions! I ll definitely be ordering again!
Admitingly i haven t eaten there, but what i really liked seeing was the option to pick reusable take out container. Amazing to see that
Vegetarian options: Excellent! Very welcoming, excellent food, would definitely recommend Food : 5/5
This was a good experience. It was my first time eating authentic Ethiopian cuisine. We enjoyed the food. I would recommend eating here...
I came from Guelph I have the best habesha food in Toronto I would highly recommend this place for those who are not sure where to eat habesha food. The hospitality, the service and extra Injera which you dont find in any place and also extra tea with spice I look forward to visit again thanks to Shalom Restaurant.
Wonderful Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony Vegetarian options: Vegetable samosa
Perfect staff, very kind and the food is delicious
Food was really good and the owner was super super nice, talked about Ethiopian food and made us learn a lot, service is really nice and super sweet staff
Samosas and a latte. ~$10 total, owners are super nice and the full meals that Ive had there before were absolutely delicious.
The best quanta fir-fir I ve ever had so far
Excellently tastty food served with a mothers touch. The cafe latte brought a great closure to the dining experience. I recommend this place.
Best cappuccino in Cabbagetown, hands down. Then, the food. Wow. I hosted my 30th birthday dinner here and we were all blown away. Absolutely crazy good flavours. Support this business!
Incredible food and service!
The interior has not been updated since the 70s. The toilet is incomprehensible in the basement. The glass on the tables is broken. Well, at least it s not expensive and that makes me happy.
Incredible food. Highly recommend the Genfo, but everything we had on the breakfast menu was phenomenal.
great food, amazing service, and it was so nicely decorated with amazing music!
What a delight! I wish I could eat and eat and eat. Shared the vegetarian platter for two and had some spice tea. Cant wait to go back
Amazing place. The owner is lovely. Very cosy and homely atmosphere. The food was delicious.
The injera was much too sour without additional flavour profiles. The food was quite bland. Definitely need to work on the spices used.
Great food! Good service. I recommend.
My favorite East-african spot! Make sure to mention how spicy you want your meal because they dont play around , . The place needs remodeling, the food is nostalgic truly like back home, the service is top level.
Fantastic food and great service
The dining experience starts with the pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient especially considering the number of tables she was serving. Our party of six had a samosa appetizer and two veggie platters which were more than satisfying. The samosas were crispy without being overcooked or oily and the centre was warm and delicious and savoury. The lentil selection on the vegetable platter was spicy without being overpowering and complimented the injera nicely. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit.
Lovely small place.. Saba who waited on us, is a gem. Food was tasty as well as the presentation.
The food was amazing and the owner is so friendly. We got the taste of shalom platter with lamb, and the vegetarian platter. It was plenty of food and their coffee is freshly roasted every morning. Im definitely coming back here again!
Ordered the meat platter. Everything was delicious. Large portions. Good service. We will definitely return!
Amazing food and even better service. The owner was super sweet and helped us pick out a platter, and was happy to explain the delicious dishes!
Wow! All i can say is wow! This was my first experience with Ethiopian food, and i knocked my socks off! The food was incredible, and i am wishing that I was closer to here so I could come by more often! I loved the veggie side dishes, they complimented the spicy chicken perfectly! Would give 6 stars if i could!
I had a wonderful catering experience with Shalom restaurant! Saba was a pleasure to work with and offered a variety of vegan/gluten-free options for our party. We had 6 different stews, injera and samosas. Our guests loved it! It was such a unique and fun dining experience. The food was ready and perfectly packaged at the time I came to pick it up. All of it was delicious, homemade, and full of flavor. Our guests could not stop complimenting the food!
Absolutely delicious and well priced neighborhood Ethiopian food. The veggie platter was scrumptious. Will be returning! Vegetarian options: Veggie platter and side dishes
My sister came for a visit and she wanted to eat Ethiopian food. I found this restaurant via Google. The food is delicious, and the owner is very friendly and shared with us the story about how coffee was discovered. We tried the meat platter and the vegetable platter; both were abundant and delicious, with lots of flavour. We had the coffee, and it was awesome. We watched how it was roasted and how it was prepared Vegetarian options: We tried the vegetarian plate, its very good, different things on the plate, each one with their own flavour
I love the Ethiopian food and this is such a good spot to have it while I am in Toronto. The meal was super fresh and healthy. Also, I enjoyed chatting with the owner. She is very friendly. Definitely recommend this restaurant, will visit again!
Food was delicious. A slightly smaller portion than I am used to but I would definitely go back. So lovely to sit in such a cozy place on Orthodox Easter.
The food was really bad. I got the meat combo and everything taste bad except the doro. The cooking doesn t taste good and I tried a lot of Ethiopian food.
Very nice place with welcoming service and Authentic Ethiopian food including vegetarian and if you would like they accompany you with traditional coffee ceremony too.
the sharing platter is phenomenal! lovely server, she always made sure we were doing ok and gave our group extra injera when we were running low. would love to try the coffee next time, the aroma from another table was heavenly!
Attentive staff and extremely fresh and large portion foods. Really good ingera and one of the best Ethiopian foods ice tried in town. It didnt have AC on so place was a bit moist inside, but thats about all the bad i could say about this place! Highly recommend anyone to check it out if they ever in Cabbage Town
The food is delicious and the prices are great. The service is lovely. Would recommend time and time again!
Food is oily spicy as hell Pasta is so dry. Hope they pay attention to that The restaurant is nice place to seat there
Incredible food. Highly recommend the sharing platters and the coffee ceremony.
The food is amazing I highly recommend you to try it the workers are so nice the place is very clean and comfortable this is an amazing place Kid-friendliness: She is very kind and very helpful if you do not no what to order
The place is very nice The food taste amazing and the people are kind you should really come and enjoy this great food establishment
I eat at a lot of Ethiopian places here in Canada and this one is now at the top of my list!
This meal made me *so* happy.
Delicious food! Use your hands.
Great for vegans and Sade fans
Is it kosher ?
This place is amazing I would recommend everyone to come here
Their food was so delicious!! The Shalom platter came with a variety of veggies and each one was absolutely delicious. The platter I ordered came with chicken and an egg. The gravy was very tasty. The service is also great. The lady who served us was so kind and explained her dishes with a smile every time I asked a question. Highly recommend!!
An authentic Ethiopian place. Good food, friendly service.
Price of service exagerated and extra expensive.
Qonderful experience. Delicious food friendly service with lovely owner. Incredible coffee. Cant qait to return Vegetarian options: Felt like I qas at a vegan restaurant
Thought that this was some sort of money laundering set up because no customers are ever in there !
The coffee was phenomenal, the waitress (owner?) was lovely and personable, and the ambience was quite perfect. Decorations were gorgeous. Totally worth the visit, will be back. Super affordable too. Got coffee and snacks for 2 for like $22
Very flavourful and authentic Ethiopian food. We always order the vegetarian platter then we eat in and order our fav vegetarian dishes when we eat out. Always pleased with the quality of the food and service. The owner is very nice and we have had many conversations with her. Make sure you give this place a try. It is as good as the best Ethiopian in the city but for less $$!
Amazing! Our first time having Ethiopian food and we ll be back again for sure. We had the vegetarian platter for two and the Ethiopian coffee for two which came with popcorn and incense. The lady working was very kind and shared with us some cultural tips (don t fill your coffee half way - it s bad luck). We will be back with friends! Food, service and atmosphere - excellent!
Queen Saba, your food is delishe, amazing to stumble upon a rare find:) my brother Wassie Mulugeta whom I worked with at Aimtronics in Mississauga Ontario, 1999-2000-2001, would be proud! Read this poem and pass it on, if you like it, freedom! ryersonwavingfeathers.net All the best With love Steve
This place is incredible! The food is absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The flavours of our dish were so varied and tasty. For a truly authentic experience, this place is a must.
Such great food and service really really recommend for great Ethiopian food!
Lovely staff and great food! My favourites include the keyih tibsi, kitfo and beef samosas!
Great Ethiopian food, portion is huge. Espresso is good too. They will give you spoon if you ask for it. Appreciated.
Amazing place and food. Thank you
Excellent food and friendly personnel.
First time eating Ethiopian food and we really enjoyed the food and the service. The server was very welcoming and polite! I recommend this place:)
Amazing food and amazing service!! The hostess was very sweet and this is one of the the best Ethiopian food we have had in a while!
I tried the Shiro and Vegetarian platter and it did not disappoint. Plenty for two people and with enough for leftovers. Food was slow but they do not compromise on quality for speed. I will be returning in the future.
Really enjoyed this meal vegan meal Enough for two. And I had the traditional tea
Tried their kitfo and im in loooove The perfect bit of spicy, flavourful, balanced by the injera. Cant wait to go back
The staff was nice. The food was ok but dirty place.
The food was quite tasty, and the woman serving us was very attentive and kind. It was very quiet for 8:00 on a Saturday which is a shame since more people should go!!!
Best place to dine in.
Tasty, fresh and good portion. Highly recommended.
First time trying Ethiopian food and enjoyed the food & whole experience here! Nice atmosphere & LOVED the coffee. Saba is so sweet. Can t wait to come back!
Delicious Ethiopian and Eritrean food! The server was very kind and helpful. Nice and ambient spot.
Very nice and friendly staff, the food is always really good and tasty and a very good portion, really worth the price, strongly recomended.
Great ethopian food restaurant and gracious server. The food was decently priced and the portion sizes were generous. Cant wait to come back again soon.
Once you step through their door you feel like youve been teleported. Saba and her team are so welcoming and hospitable. I was there for coffee, but I will be returning for food it looked and smelled so yummy !
Second time eating there and while the first was wonderful, the lamb I ordered this time was really tough and also tasted more like beef. Sad because I was really excited to have good lamb after a long time :/
Great Ethiopian food in Cabbagetown. Very authentic. Fresh injera and many side dishes. I thought everything was very flavorful and enjoyed it a lot. Would recommend.
Absolutely the tastiest food! Such a pleasant place. Cant wait to return many more times! Vegetarian options: Excellent and tasty vegetarian options, they all taste amazing and are so wonderful!
Great food and service. Highly recommend this restaurant
Real ethiopian test. Just try it I know you love it!!!
What an amazing experience to be had at Shalom - Saba just made us feel right at home with amazing hospitality and of course the food too which was so fresh and flavoursome. Being a part of the coffee ceremony made us feel so special. We truly had an enjoyable time and cant wait to return!
Not a luxury place by any means, but super-tasty food - if youre into Ethiopian spicy food.
We came for smoothies because Booster juice was closed and did we ever luck out! Best smoothies weve ever had and the staff were so friendly. Beautiful restaurant. Well be back for a meal, it smelled fantastic!
amazing food and very kind service! thank you
First, the food was delicious and the server was friendly and polite. We ordered the 2 person vegetarian platter and an appetizer and it was more than enough. The price was very reasonable. Id have given the restaurant 5 stars if they made the seating area a little nicer - maybe something as simple as a tablecloth, and cleaned their washrooms a little better - was a little dirty looking and there were no hand towels in the mens or womens washrooms. When youre eating your meal with your hands, hygiene is even more of a priority. Still going Shalom a thumbs up!
Saba delighted us with her kindness and service. We had the meat platter and were very pleased with the quality flavours and quantity. Such incredible authentic food and experience. We are definitely looking forward to the next visit!
Delicious, healthy food with great service! Would live to go back next time visiting Toronto!
Ive tried all the more popular places on the Danforth and this one makes the best kitfo and injera out of all of them. Food is so gud here and decently spicy! Only reason theyre not 5 stars is cuz they can sadly be hit or miss in terms of portions/freshness/value/quality. If it werent so variable they would b one of my fav restaurants, no question
Excellent place! Food was great, service was great, vibes were great. Couldnt be happier
One of my favourite places in the neighbourhood. I also get my coffee beans there (call in advance so they can roast it for you by the time you go pick it up).
This restaurant is a nice gem in the neighbourhood. The staff are very welcoming and will help you choose a dish, if you happen to be unfamiliar with Ethiopian food/culture like I was. The food is tasty and the portions are very generous and reasonably priced. That spicy cha cha is my favourite; its delicious. I used to enjoy sitting in this restaurant before the lockdown and just take in the Ethiopian/Eritrean cultural vibe, while sipping on some nice Ethiopian coffee. But takeout service is good, and the food taste just as good. Im looking forward to some day enjoying that dine-in experience once again.
Delicious food, excellent portions, great service
Delicious and wholesome food obviously prepared with love. The vegetarian platter is satisfying and filled with wonderful and aromatic flavors.
. The food is delicious (meats are spicy ) and wholesome. The taste of Shalom and meat platters were super tasty. Ordered with Ritual, had a problem and arrived after they had closed and they were kind enough to wait (thanks and sorry!)
Always excellent and tasty Ethiopian food, along with friendly and gracious service. The best.
First time trying out this restaurant. Was looking for a rice speciality dish. Staff was nice and helpful over the phone. They made a lamb dish with rice. Was not really what I expected it to be because I thought it would have been mixed in. The meat was really hard to chew and not soft. Flavors were okay.
Great food, great portions, great service, great atmosphere and great presentation. Take out containers are really nice too, with individual compartments to keep the different dishes separate. Lovely staff, very warm and friendly. I would definitely recommend.
Absolutely incredible. So delicious. Had the Taste of Shalom platter with lamb stew. Stew was so damn good. All the sides were so delicious. It will defintely be a little bit of a wait, so if your impatient , stir clear. But it is 100 percent worth it in the end.
This actually was just amazing. Definitely will be back.
Great food and friendly staff. The outdoor patio made the experience even better.
Best food in town
Cancelled my TooGoodToGo order when I was 1min away from the restaurant. People inside were rude and unapologetic. Do not recommend placing any orders here.
Had a great time! The food was amazing, Very friendly people and great costumer service. Will for sure be coming back
Great food! Amazing service! All meat products are halal.
Love this place! The food is delicious and fresh. Love the in resto experience with coffee service, and also for takeout and delivery. Doesn t disappoint!
Really good Ethiopian food. The vegetarian platter for two is really filling and the service is great.
Cancelled my order in a very short notice. Bad service.
absolutely disgusting Im sorry. The bread that goes with the raw meat was beyond sour. Overpriced as well. Maybe I got a bad batch but still felt like I threw my money down the drain. I ordered through doordash
Friendly service. Good food and reasonable prices. We got the veggie Sambusa and the Shalom platter to share. More than enough food for two people. Food took a bit longer than expected but it was a lovely day to sit on the patio. Would go again
Delicious food, with agreat service. Highly recommended. Enjoy the coffee after your meal. Thank you titina and sabi for the great service
I would like to start of by saying how amazing Saba is. The food is sooo delicious and She is very friendly to everyone and she has great costumer service. Ever time I am craving Ethiopian food shalom is the place to go. I highly recommend it.
Absolutly incredible authentic Ethiopian food in a small little cozy whole in the wall. You can taste the passion in the food. The Ethiopian coffee qnd ginger tea was also incredible..
Excellent food, great portions, lovely service. Saba was kind, informative, social, and generous.
Didnt catch her name but the lady serving us was absolutely lovely! We got the Shalom platter with lamb and it was super tasty- well be back !
Little bit expansive, but sooooo goooooood Im not on the board of directors... I heard the Tokyo ramen was delicious so I took a picture to go next time. Its delicious here. The lamb was a bit tough, but the chicken legs... tasted heavenly.
First experience with Ethiopian food and I have to say it was a great one.Adorable little place with delicious food!
Visited Friday Night - cozy place. Host is very nice and helpful, she helped us in ordering, we requested for spicy, she said we will give spicy powder on the side. We loved the food and most importantly our host, she kept checking on us making sure we are enjoying our food.
We went on a weeknight for dinner with a couple of friends. Some of my friends never had Ethiopian before so the concept of sharing a plate was off-beat for them. The hostess explained injera and other dishes with patience. No doubt , food was amazing. We ordered Doro Wat, meat platter and another sizzling dish of beef. It was a great experience. Would definitely go back as it is just 10 mins away from my place.
Omg so good. Coffee beans left on our table for a moment to enjoy
What a treat! A first for me not using forks and knives. The food was delicious and plentiful. There were five of us in our party and the hostess brought us enough food for more. The samosas are smaller than the traditional Indian samosas, but the pastry is more delicate. Lamb dish and beef dishes are amazing. Make sure you have the Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
Good gluten free and vegan food
First time having Ethiopian food. It was great to get a share platter to try different things, I especially loved the injera.
The best Ethiopian food Ive had so far. Their veg platter is such a lovely burst of different flavours and textures! The injera is perfectly soft and sour.
One oh the best place to Ethiopians food like injera
I ve been here are a few times with some friends. This is a wonderful place to grab an inexpensive shared meal that still is of great quality. The first time I was here they happened to be making coffee for themselves back in the kitchen, and brought some out for a table just because we were having a good time! The service is always friendly, and you always feel like you re being taken care of.
Amazing food and service! totally recommended
Great customer service and delicious food. The owner Saba is a very friendly and welcoming person. I highly recommend this place for those who want to experience truly authentic Ethiopian tastes.
Simply delicious, and an unbeatable value.
The most delicious, healthy and comforting food. Tastes home made with love.
The staff is amazing due to how interactive they are, friendly and inviting. They make you want to learn more about the Ethiopian culture. At first the food is a big culture shock for a western culture but the kitchen staff makes it so incredibly tasty and filling. Highly recommend to others as this is a great place to explore one of the many great cultures of Toronto.
I m very disappointed with this restaurant. I ordered on Uber Eats and it was a mess! Food was burnt and too spicy when I specifically said to take it easy on the spice. There was also something missing from my order - Meat Platter for 1 was missing and nowhere to be found when I spent $20 on it. Very disappointed and will NEVER order from this restaurant again! Customers BEWARE of this joke of a restaurant!
Amazing service and food
Do you know when the food hug you? Thats the feeling. Everything was so good! Jordana, that received us, you were amazing! I felt like home, even though I am not from Ethiopia. We had the Taste of Shalom, the food was amazing! And the coffee closed perfectly our dinner.
Great experience! Host was very hospitable! Offered great complimentary coffee after the meal!
Great quality food for a low price! The owners are super friendly and social (even shared some of their food with us to sample a new item for the menu). You walk in, sit wherever, and mention if you want to the veggie or meat dish. Service is quick, but a lot of care is taken (and you can taste it). Ethiopian food is very underrated!! P.S. If you like coffee, do yourself a favour and get one here!
Very friendly good food fresh , place is very Clean. MY WIFE AND I LOVE IT WE DEFINITELY GO BACK I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO TRY IT
Delicious food. Great prices
Very good Ethopian cuisine
Its my first experience of Ethiopian food. Nice small family run busy. We had a veg combo and a non veg chicken and lamb dish with the bread. Preferred the nonveg. Tasty food with slow service. So if you are in a hurry, then not a place to be.
Never had Ethiopian food before and it was delicious. The food was great and the value is really good too.
This is was my second experience in an Ethiopian restaurant. It loved the injera bread. It was soft, well cooked and fermented for just right time. I ordered a lamb and a chickpea dish. The lamb was a bit chewy but had overall good taste. The chickpea dish was perfect; I loved it.
Easily, one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Delicious, deep, intense flavors that flood your taste buds letting you know this food was a labor of love. The staff was warm, friendly, and very attentive to our needs. A great dinning experience. Thank you Shalom Ethiopian House.
I came here with my partner, who is gluten-intolerant. We asked if they had all-teff injera and they told us their injera was made with teff and barley, which contains gluten, unfortunately. We sat down anyhow, and my partner was planning on ordering his meal without injera... little did we know one of the staff ran out to a local Ethiopian grocery store and purchased 100% teff injera for him. So sweet! The food was absolutely delicious! We each had the vegetarian sampler, and our server brought us a little extra of our favourite stew.
Delicious food and great service! Love it!
Great Ethiopian Food!!!
Incredible Ethiopian platters and coffee. Saba is a great host. I dont review restaurants but I really want to see this place thrive on Parliament.
Very friendly, great value and super tasty. Highly recommend.
My boyfriend and I had dinner for a second time here, and The food was very testy and service is on point, will definitely come back. Thank you team Shalom.
Glad we have an Ethiopian restaurant in Cabbagetown! Love that they have an option for a mixed platter with veg and doro wat (chicken). Lots of people were doing takeout but the new updates to the restaurant make it very cozy to stay and eat.
Humble restaurant tucked away on Parliament and Wellesley in a quiet neighborhood. But wow, amazing food, warm hosting that feels like home. Both the cook and the waiting staff are lovely people. The platter as usual with the curries on the side is a super option with the protein chicken of a flavourful spice in the Center. Must visit, we will surely be going back.
One of the best Ethiopian restaurants ever. Good food served warm, friendly staff.
This is a relatively new restaurant and has authentic Ethiopian dishes. Staff and the owner are friendly . The meal we had was great. The service was friendly and the surroundings pleasant. Reminds me for home food. Service was good.
