We went for my birthday and it was absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to visit again! I got the half lobster and the truffle mashed potatoes! Everything was delicious! Vibes were also great with lounge dj very romantic for a special night
This was hands-down the BEST brunch experience ever! From the moment we sat down, everything was perfect. My friend ordered a Caesar, and let me tell you—it was a SHOWSTOPPER! I’ve never seen anything like it before, and the fact that you can build your own? Genius! And let’s talk about the bottomless mimosas… absolutely worth it! The food was incredible—every bite was flavorful, the portions were generous, and we left feeling beyond satisfied. If you’re looking for a brunch spot that combines great vibes, amazing food, and unique drinks, this is it. Can’t wait to come back again!
Every dish tasted delicious although the oysters weren't anything special, but still great. Loved their Wagyu steak! It was flavoured and seasoned very well and cooked to perfection. Service was great as server was very quick and attentive. I loved the atmosphere as the lighting was great, had loud music but it was loud in a way where you can't hear other tables yet you can hear people at your table very well.
My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Maxime’s. Our server Kat was attentive, knowledgeable of the menu and just a great server. She made sure that our experience was special . The food was fabulous. I’ve been to other steak houses in the past that did not compare to the quality.
We went to celebrate my friends birthday. The sizzling shrimp was really good (only good thing from the night) but the wait time for the main food was unbearably long. Moreover, the atmosphere felt really suffocating and the music sounded like I was at a club. Me and my friend are naturally loud people but we still had trouble communicating. I had really high expectations of this place but unfortunately the restaurant couldn’t deliver on their end. Not only did the main food come so so late, the waiter dropped by not even 20 mins later warning us about our time limit at the restaurant. I felt like I paid to just wait for my food and not even get the time to enjoy it. Nonetheless it’s ok that we didn’t get to enjoy because the steak was super duper salty, that it felt hazardous to eat. The chicken wasn’t that bad but again we couldn’t enjoy it due to the “time limit”. I do not care how expensive the restaurant is, for the price we paid, we did not get the quality we deserved.
Fantastic restaurant, I have yet to try the dinner, but the drinks and desserts is top notch! The Hottest place around, the GM is very generous and kind, takes care of everything, if there is a problem let them know! don’t be shy! but I doubt you’ll find one. A hard working and welcoming team that lives up to the hype.
I've had some of the best pasta in Toronto here, and I honestly find myself craving it occasionally. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is top-notch. The cocktails are not only delicious but also beautifully presented. It's a perfect spot for a date night, a fun evening with friends, or celebrating a special occasion. They even have a DJ during dinner which really sets a lively mood. The grand entrance and stunning interior just add to the whole experience.
Really unique decor in King West. The place is flashy which makes for a fun experience. I think it would be a better rated experience if I didn’t have other similar range of King West restaurants to compare within this price point. For that, I would say that the food had high quality ingredients that made it boujee but the taste wasn’t all that memorable. I found it to be overrated for a nicer restaurant. Leans heavier on the flashiness than overall taste. When we first came in, we had the wobbliest table and after the waiter came to put a sugar packet/cardboard underneath several times, they finally moved us to one of the empty tables when we asked. Not sure why they didn’t do that sooner. Outside of that, the waitress was excellent - 5 star service. She was accurate, professional and prompt. The atmosphere was interesting as there’s so many awesome things to look at but it can be quite loud with the music so people are pretty much shouting to be heard from across the table. It plays a part in the dining experience. Overall, it’s worth checking out at least once for the experience. I’m not rushing to come back as I will probably opt for other restaurants in this price point.
Had a good time at Maximes. Service was mostly great, one server seemed a bit curt but the other one was great. Only got appetizers and wine but highly recommend the beef tartare.
Food was amazing. The restaurant gets quite smokey with the open kitchen.
This was an amazing experience, staff are super friendly. Food was so tasty.
Awesome place for dinner, food was delicious. , Mark the Waiter was awesome,, went with my friend for our 50 year friends a versary and we got complimentary champagne . Highly recommended Food
Such a cute little spot.. loved it
The worst food i have ever had! I never leave reviews but this made me want to! Went there to celebrate my birthday and regretted it heavily! The wagyu sliders were burnt , the Chicken had ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOUR! And the pasta was mediocre. For the outrageous prices i would expect much better!! The restaurant is pretty but its sooo stuffy and everyone seated way too close to each other! Felt like a sit down club P.s never have i ever had 12 dollars worth of soggy fries!
Giving it 4 stars due to the overall dining experience including service. The music is too loud making it very difficult to have a conversation. Would be great if they would turn it into a lounge after 10 pm.
I ll start off with what I did like! I had a good time at Maxine s with my family celebrating a birthday - I can t say I didn t have a good time because we did! Our server was really nice and the passionfruit mocktail was delicious. I also think they did a good job shucking the oysters. We did however wait a very long time for the food when the restaurant was empty, and which we found to be extremely salty overall. The Caesar salad was soggy as if it was left out a while before being served to us. The truffle mash and wagyu was pretty good though! I ve been to other restaurants downtown Toronto and I felt better after leaving and paying a similar price point. Value for money wasn t there but I still had a good time. Keep in mind I didn t pay, but seeing the bill made me cringe because it just didn t add up in my brain value-wise. I was a bit disappointed because I was really excited to go here after seeing TikTok s promoting it, but it fell flat for me.
Went here a lot when it first opened and it was amazing. After dining here the other night i will probably never return. Food was horrible, salad was overdressed, too salty and we barely ate it. Nobody mentioned anything even though we handed the plate back full. Fish was fishy and didn t taste good, extremely expensive. Steak was ok. Bill was $400 for 2 people Service was slow, cockroaches on our table outside.
10/10! Great new brunch menu
This place is a joke. After going back and forth for several days, trying to arrange the perfect dinner party for my friends birthday; coordinating with Jainna & Farhana. At the very end right before confirming my reservation, they decided to tell me they are no longer accepting my guests and I. I assume it s because they couldn t be bothered to cater to the very bare minimum requests I had for the evening. Throughout coordinating I was told one thing, and then told the opposite. Clearly lack of communication between the two people trying to email me. I then asked why my reservation was all of a sudden being declined after all of this time, and they couldn t give me an answer. Their only response was their manager Nader was going to give me a call, a call which I never received. Thanks for ruining my best friends birthday plans for your own selfish reasons :)
Honestly came here for my birthday and I mention that on my when I booked the reservation from when I walked in the hostess tried to act like she couldn t find my reservation ! even after I gave her my name & phone number . Then to top it off when I entered the restaurant it is very very small , they put all the ethnicities in the same place like black & arabs in one corner , whites on one side , asians on another ! Which is completely wrong and unethical! But at least the food was okay just a little over cooked & over priced I m very disappointed with my experience I had on my birthday !
This place by far is one of my favourite restaurant!! Our server was amazing, drinks food and desserts was 10/10!!!! Highly recommend!
I dont normally bother writing reviews, but this place doesnt deserve to be glorified how it is on social media. They sat us at a table that was facing the kitchen door and in the middle of kitchen traffic - that table shouldnt even be placed there to begin with. Our server was busy with a large party and seemed like it was nuisance to serve us - no enthusiasm or good hospitality. Food was terrible, the dry aged burger came out wet, soggy, and very salty. The spicy rigatoni pasta was extremely underwhelming and overpriced for something so basic. Very overpriced drinks that are really nothing special. This restaurant is small with an open concept kitchen and you can see them cook. However, the kitchen being so in your face, you leave smelling like garlic, which is very undesirable and unacceptable for a fancy restaurant. Only the lobby is aesthetic and catfishes you into thinking this place is worth dining in. Do not recommend, theres plenty of better places than this disappointment.
Great experience and great vibes!
Had a lovely dinner on the patio on Friday night. The mac and cheese is the best Ive ever had. Vanessa was a great server!
Such a great spot for a night out with friends - delicious food and the music is a vibe! Pleasantly surprised with the variety in the menu and a must try is the sizzling shrimp! The sauce is to die for.
Everything was top notch! Chef Jordan is a wizard in the kitchen. Really found their groove, from the steak, seafood tower to pasta - don t miss anything. Great vibe and 10/10 service and staff!
I love this place!!! Food is absolutely delicious, atmosphere is beautiful and the service was great! We went for a Birthday dinner it was a group of 6 so we tried a lot of different things and EVERYTHING was delicious! I am going back next week! Definitely recommend the Wagyu Caesar salad, sizzling shrimp, Oysters, spicy vodka rigatoni and wagyu and veal bolognese (mixed together ) 10/10!
Such a great dinner experience! Our server Neha was amazing! She made our night even more special with her great personality and care, one of the best servers which made us want to come back again. Service and food were amazing, would highly recommend.
The Food is Worth Every Penny. I will be coming back 100%
This used to be my favourite restaurant but yesterday s experience had been extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, as we sat down, the host approached us and said the Manager Nader had asked my friend to remove his hat but we glanced around and a gentleman was wearing a hat by the bar and he clearly had been sitting there for a while and we asked why was he wearing a hat and he had to take his off. She then approached Nader, the manager who was hiding by the bar in the corner what we had said. He then approached the gentleman by the bar to remove his hat afterwards. If this was an issue then he would have asked the gentleman to remove his hat already when he walked in but it s clear that he knew the gentleman so he allowed him to wear his hat in the first place and because he had asked him to remove it, he then went to approach the other patron wearing his hat. I have also been to this restaurant with a friend wearing a hat before and no one had said anything about him taking his hat off. Nader wouldn t even come to our table when we had requested to speak to him. He would stare at our table and walked by the kitchen area and that was very uncomfortable. My friend is black and he felt discriminated. He wouldn t even approach us when we asked to speak to him and made the server who was kind to talk to us instead. Nader was a bald white causasian man with glasses. We would have walked out but I had told my friend that their spicy vodka rigatoni was good and he needed to try it. But yesterday s food was nothing like how it was before. The quality went down by a lot. I don t know if it s because they hired different people in the kitchen which some looked like kids. The spicy vodka rigatoni had a lot of black pepper seasoned, the mashed potatoes with lobster had barely any lobster and the mashed potatoes was watery, the sea bass wasn t salted at all and it tasted bland and was not deboned, the ahi tuna carpaccio was very fishy tasting. I would definitely not come back to this restaurant due to the food quality and the manager who doesn t understand what exceptional customer service is. He allowed his female friend who came in with sweat pants and her dog and he sat with them for a while and the female friend brought her dog into the restaurant walking around to the bar and passed the kitchen with her dog but my friend had to take his hat off. I didn t know a dog was able to come into a restaurant when the kitchen was right there due to sanitation. Also the kitchen staff were all wearing hats but my friend had to take his off to dine there. Make it make sense. Avoid at all cost!
Great atmosphere!, great service and most importantly great food. came here with my wife for our 6 month wedding annvirsary and maximes was the top choice, there was a close by public parking which made the walk to the restaurant very easy, we ordered the mac & cheese, veal parmesean, pasta and the truffle drizzled fries. everything tasted great and fresh, servers were all nice and attentive, will be coming back here soon.
The vibes at this restaurant are immaculate, lovely Patio and lovely indoor. We came here for drinks and the cocktails were great, would love to come back for dinner and try their menu offerings. Our server was also super social and kind and made great cocktail recos Food
Impeccable service, intimate settings, amazing food tasty and fresh. Lovely cocktails and best customer service.
My favourite restaurant! Always a great vibe with amazing food & drinks
I don t really care to write reviews but this one stood out. First off we came close to 12 and they kept the kitchen so we could get food. Riley was honestly one of the best servers my partner and I have met in Toronto. Food was outstanding and we go to a lot of upscale places so we didn t have high expectations for this place. Would %100 recommend!!
I came here with my cousin just for a quick late night snack. I ve never experienced service so bad in my life and I m a foodie I ve tried many restaurants. When we first even stepped foot in the restaurant it took 10 minutes to greet us with nobody else there. The hostess who was supposed to greet us didn t even end up checking for anybody, I had to stick my head through the door and flag someone down. We get in and they seat us next to the bar where the bartenders keep looking over as if they were asked to keep and eye on our table it was also giving racist by the way the security was originally stationed out side when we got the but moved inside right by the door as soon as we arrived. Our original server took our order and left without saying a word, didn t see him for the rest of the night pretty sure he went home. Has to ask different people for updates. I had to continuously track someone down for a refill of water. Had to ask three times for the bill. Mind you it was only us and one other table present this entire time. When the bill was finally brought to us obviously we did not tip and he didn t say anything just walked away. Not a have a good day, take care, silence. Terrible experience, food wasn t bad but pretty mediocre, only good for ig pics. Would I ever come back? no.
Average food. Service was very slow, waited over 30 min to take our drink orders, forgot one of our side dishes and to end of the evening , they brought us a lamp with a cockroach on it (wondering where else there are cockroaches crawling around). When we brought it up the waitress, nothing was done, not even an apology.
Dinner was decent, the chicken was good but the dipping sauce was extremely oily and sour. Sizzling shrimp was overcooked. The mash was amazing. Hints of truffle and a cheese crust really made the dish. The service was a tad slow but understandable because it was busy. One thing that left a very sour taste in my mouth was witnessing a guy punch a girl while I was waiting in line for the restroom. I was surprised that they didn t immediately remove him from the premises. Maximes is definitely great for the ambiance, but it s a one hit wonder for me. I will not be coming back.
If there was a million stars, I would press it multiple times. I cannot express my gratitude for the greatest birthday this heartwarming and welcoming fine dine restaurant had provided me with. My biggest thanks to the all chefs, especially Jordan. As well as the lovely girls, who made my experience greater with so much kindness. Shout out to, Kim, Preet, Valentina, Neha and Shayla!! Just craving the wagyu and oysters, oh my gosh. All of you have been amazing.
Accidentally walked into the wrong restaurant tonight however I m glad I did! I ordered the la Perla drink and a side of fries as an Appetizer - it was sooooo delicious! Unfortunately by the time my half chicken meal came out I was extremely full. I did sample a piece of the chick and it was well seasoned and super juicy. I ended up taking the majority of the food back to my hotel however I can t wait to eat it for breakfast!!
A well-concealed gem in the city! The ambiance evokes a Miami vibe, and the exceptional staff provides an unforgettable experience. The layered drink creations are in a league of their own, competing only with your palate. The culinary offerings are nothing short of extraordinary, with flavors carefully crafted to captivate your senses.
Honestly Im extremely disappointed, all I can say is please dont go there to celebrate your birthday, its a waste of time. Why? Because it was my birthday. My friend made a surprise for my birthday but unfortunately the girl who greeted us spoiled the surprise by saying that the cake had arrived. First of all, I shouldnt know because its my birthday My friend. Clearly told not to say anything on the phone. Not only that, the food was fine. But Ive never waited so long for my food, its really unacceptable. After eating, we asked for the cake, which took us hours to get. Especially for cutting. Our waitress was in a hurry to give the cake and didnt even light the candle. No one sang happy birthday to us except my friends. All I can say is please dont go there to celebrate your birthday, its a waste of time.
I absolutely love the cocktails at Maximes. Their margaritas is in my top 3 ever. The steak was delicious, as expected. The patio was gorgeous and servers were great. The one let down was the tiramissu, looks gross and tasted terrible. Food
The food is good not bad, but not one of the best in Toronto, overrated!
Overall experience was good! Food took a long time to arrive and was bland but the service and atmosphere made up for it
horrible food. i m not sure why this was recommended. for the price it was disgusting. salad was way too salty - full of cheese. wagyu was probably the end of a strip loin because of how chewy it was. fried shrimp tasted like dough not shrimp. crowd is gross. go elsewhere
Black/coloured people PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE! This establishment is NOT BLACK PEOPLE FRIENDLY! There are other aesthetically pleasing places in the city with great food & vibes. I am begging you please celebrate your happy moments elsewhere. Somewhere where we are appreciated! - A fellow black woman
Went there for my anniversary on Saturday me and my husband got the worst food poisoning. I got the Mac and cheese and we shared the ribeye steak. I was violently ill as soon as I got home and my husband was a couple hours after. I will never be back here and the resturant was soooo humid, it was uncomfortable to sit. DO NOT RECOMEND!!
mark is an amazing server, definitely saved the night. Management could be better. Food came out slowly, but was still good.
Thank you so much for making my boyfriend s family s anniversary so incredibly special! From the chef visiting, to the exceptional food, service and thoughtful items, they had an amazing and memorable time. A special thanks to Jaclyn Grant who helped make everything perfect! You are exceptional at what you do.
Went for an anniversary, the atmosphere was phenomenal, natter was amazing made us feel so welcomed and celebrated, our server was so sweet, professional and efficient. The food was delicious. I recommend for anyone looking for a great dinning experience and atmosphere!
Our experience at Maxime s was truly wonderful. Our server Mark was amazing, and his recommendations of ordering our steak Chicago Style and the 34+35 cocktail did not disappoint ( highly recommended for my spiced rum lovers). I look forward to coming again and recommending this venue to any foodies in the future. I also want to highlight our baked mac and cheese and the tiramisu, crafted with care and tasted perfect !
Parking: Parking , would be a hassle so I would recommend taking a Uber or taxi. Lovely place to chill and relax so it s worth taking a taxi or Uber
Enjoyed the summerlicious menu and added some extra items. The patio is absolutely stunning, its such a vibe with its umbrellas, plants and music!
Food is good but overpriced. Service was pretty slow. They also forgot a one of our side dishes.
there was literally a cockroach crawling on our lamp and they didn t do anything about it
We had such a great date night here . Neha made our night so special and she was so friendly and nice. Food and dessert also very good, it becomes my new favorite spot to go in weekend!! Thank You Neha
The vibe is stylish Instagram hotspot. Lot of club-types and tables where they share plates and order 1 drink to last 2 hours, while taking tons of selfies. We got the impression this restaurant is really about the social media hype than the food. Service was good, food was good (standard for steakhouse fare), but the vibe left us feeling used. Upon arrival we were told we had to give up our seats in 2 hours. Ordered the signature seafood tower (overpriced for the amount of seafood), steak tartare and caesar salad (tasty, but overpriced..$36 for a ceasar salad!) plus wine and cocktails and dessert. No complimentary bread or amuse-bouche. Never asked for coffee/tea/after-dinner drinks. It was clear they wanted us out of the seats Bill was $440 for 2 people. The 2 star review is due to being charged $1 for a few extra crisp crackers and $2 for a small bit of mayonnaise to accompany our $195 seafood tower. Petty. In hindsight the adoring reviews offered by the Local Guides certainly did not match our experience. Would not go back.
Nice atmosphere, space felt kind of small. Petit wagyu burgers & Mac n Cheese were fabulous
I ve been wanting to try out Maxime s for a while and finally got the chance to dine in here. Despite a smaller setting than some other places, Maxime s brings a unique, aesthetic and luxurious vibe, very good for pictures for any type of special ocassions. I love the open kitchen s and their bar setting. We ordered a lot of food but my favorite stays with their wagyu, mash potatoes and the beef tatare. The price point of the dishes is a little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for and I would say it was worth it.
Ate here with a couple friends last night. The service, the food, the atmosphere was all phenomenal. I have a dairy intolerance and my friend a shellfish allergy so of course while ordering and asking about the menu I felt like we were going to be very limited in options but I was blown away by the accommodations the chef made for us. Hats off to the kitchen! Everything was delicious! And also front of house, service was amazing! I will definitely be returning. Vegetarian options: Options for everyone! Dietary restrictions: So accommodating!!
Had high hopes, left disappointed. Only thing I enjoyed was my drink and the salad. I went for a birthday but the birthday boy didn t enjoy his meal. Let s start with what was good: - Lychee Martini and the Rum Punch were good - Wagyu Cesar was flavourful - Mashed Potatoes was tasty portion was but the portion was small On the other hand I ordered: -The Chef s Choice: A 10oz medium steak with a béarnaise sauce. The steak was burnt and the bearnaise was way too thick, couldn t pour the sauce out of the gravy boat so we requested another sauce - the server brought a chimmichiri which was bitter. Spicy Rigatoni was a little too spicy, there was no balance of flavours. The spice overpowered other elements in the dish. Others may like it but it was just not for me. Broccolini was unnecessarily spicy. I was planning to order dessert for the birthday boy but he was so disappointed in the food we called it a night. Although people should knock first, it would be very smart to put a lock on the bathroom doors for privacy and peace of mind.
If you re looking for a place to eat I d recommend you go somewhere else. The food wasn t bad, but I wouldn t necessarily say it was good. Very average in my opinion, you can definitely find much better places to eat for the price point they charge here. The hosts and security were very kind and friendly, but our server on the other hand seemed like she had a long day and was projecting onto our table. A lot of unnecessary eye rolling and a passive aggressive tone at times when speaking. The atmosphere seems very clubby as other reviews have mentioned. Loud and rapid music. It wasn t a problem with me but might not be other people s vibe so keep that in mind before visiting.
Very pleasant vibes overall, the food was tasty. Caesar salad created by Aashish was the best i had in a while. Also had mashed potatoes with rigatoni pasta which was a feast. Would absolutely recommend this place especially for caesar salad
I was initially thrilled to visit this highly recommended spot in Toronto, celebrated for its vibrant social media presence. The warm welcomes from the greeter and bartender beautifully set the stage, complemented by the lovely ambiance. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm quickly faded due to interactions with a server who was not only rude and abrupt but also turned out to be the manager. Even after we had ordered, he repeatedly came to ask if we wanted to order more, tried to remove a dish before we had finished, and informed us 45 minutes ahead of time that they needed the table. This constant interruption, especially on my birthday, was quite unsettling. My friends and I were persistently questioned, giving us the uncomfortable impression that we were being encouraged to leave. This experience prompts me to write this review in hopes of seeing improvements in how guests are treated, ensuring the service quality matches the wonderful environment.
Thursday Night was a great dining experience. The food was delicious, Kim our server was amazing. Prices are good. Definitely will be back. Thank You - JayT WARSH - @JayTSandals on instagram
It was an early evening out with a friend I had not seen in a few years. From start to finish, it was a lovely experience. The venue is in a great area on Portland Street with a classic open concept speak easy vibe. Service was on point with excellent recommendations. And the food... well we came for the food and we were not disappointed! Thank you chef
I went for dinner on a Saturday night at 7pm, and surprisingly it was not as busy as I expected. The atmosphere is interesting, it is like a club style but with tables everywhere. I wish the tables were spaced out further apart from one another. I felt like I was squeezing by the table beside us and I was worried I was going to knock their food off onto the ground. For the starters, we ordered the 6 oysters for 26$ and ahi tuna carpaccio 28$. Those were great, fresh tasting, and I like how they dusted it off with actual truffle bits. For the mains we got a 12oz of the USDA prime, and for 120$, it was not worth it. My steak was more medium than medium-rare.. the crust of the steak was heavily salted (over seasoned). I got the chimichurri to balance out the saltiness of it. Overall, the service was great. The staff was so attentive to my care and liking. I really appreciated it. But the restaurant needs to work on the food tasting and the value. It was definitely really OVER PRICED for what it was. For example the food was good but not like 400$ good? I wouldn t go back unless I was there to get drinks.
Food and service was amazing would definitely go back. Recommend doing shared portions
For starters, Preet at the door was wonderful, welcoming and her service was fantastic. We were seated right away at a cute booth next to the DJ. Unfortunately, our server never came to the table to introduce herself, greet us, or fill our water glasses. Eventually, Preet noticed and saved the day. I don t even think our server knew it was my birthday? It seemed she was very busy with a large party, but I just feel like with the prices they are charging, the hostess should not be filling my water glass or taking our order? The service most definitely is missing at Maxime s for me. Food was great, we ordered the sliders, burrata salad, Maxime s Cut Wagyu steak, Mashed Potatoes and Truffle Mushroom pasta. Everything except for the mashed potatoes was great. Mashed potatoes were a little off for us. Cocktails were very bland, lacking presentation. I ordered a Lychee Martini which was lacklustre. Then I tried the Swipe Right & it was served in the exact same glass with a different garnish. Missed the mark for me, charging $20 for cocktails devoid of the luxury experience the pricetag falsely advertises. I had asked Preet to ensure our tip goes to her as I found the server did not deliver a calibre of service to this restaurant standard or mine. I can understand she was very busy with her large party but for us not to get greeted, me not be wished a happy birthday and for the interactions we did get; they were rushed and just missing that good service touch. I m a fair person and give the benefit of the doubt, which is why I will not name her, but I just feel like this restaurant has no business charging prices like this when their hostess has to step in to save the service.
I had my birthday party there on a Friday night. The food, drinks, atmosphere, service, and DJ were all exceptional. Shout out to Mark our server.
Great atmosphere and staff! Food was delicious! Our favourite place to get oysters, theyre a good size, fresh, with great sauces! Will always recommend!
Excellent service, great food, awesome cocktails! My gf and I tried a bit of everything, the truffle mash was a hit! So was the house steak and the garlic shrimp. I wasn t a huge fan of their Mac & Chesse style, however my gf loved it. Would definitely go back! But know, 3 cocktails between us 2 appys, 2 mains and one dessert and our bill was $400! Pack your bucks! Most definitely was a great experience!
The experience beginning to end was amazing My waiter Pedro made everything even better Food was flawless definitely coming back again Food : 5/5
As it was a Saturday night the restaurant was busy which is expected, the vibes inside were good. We were warmly greeted at the door and seated. It took nearly 40 minutes for our main course to come out, due to it being a busy time the server apologized. We were also greeted by a roach crawling across the table, I mentioned it to our waiter and nothing was done. He didn t even seem apologetic. As food is being served it isn t very appetizing seeing a roach.
Food was really good, ambiance and aesthetic of the restaurant was lovely. Our first impression was quite off due to the host who sat us. We were 7 mins late because of parking and the restaurant only had 5 tables occupied (our reservation was at 1030pm). She made a big deal of us being late with 15 empty tables lol. Our waiter was also kinda off? Not very welcoming and warm service especially knowing it was our first time/celebrating a birthday. Her suggestions literally were the menus most expensive items and lied about portion sizes to get us to order more. I understand upselling as I ve been in the industry, but being transparent and genuine in your service is JUST as important.
I had dinner with a group of friends and the food and service was great. I highly recommend the spicy rigatoni, and their steaks (we had the striploin) and their cocktails were also great
I love this place so much. 10/10. Might be my newest favourite restaurant in Toronto now
The food and drinks were 10/10 SO good! We had the beef tartare, the seared garlic shrimp, and the spicy rigatoni to eat and an extra dirty martini & espresso martini to drink, everything was so good!
I went here for my bfs birthday after seeing a bunch of TikTok s. I really liked the reservation process, the host let us move ours to later because of traffic which I really appreciated. The vibe is cool it s very Miami but I find the booths to feel a bit awkward. I like that they re intimate but they re hard to get in and out of. We got the wagyu pasta, lobster and the mashed potatoes. We liked the lobster, the pasta was just okay (too salty for me), and the mashed potatoes I didn t like because the stuff on top tasted bad and there was almost too much of the truffle flavour (I m someone who usually likes truffle). We had the raspberry bomb for dessert which I kind of expected to be chocolate with a raspberry cream inside but it was more of a spongey ice cream outside and frozen fruit on the inside. The frozen fruit part wasn t great because it felt like frozen fruit straight from the freezer and I would have liked if the brownies were more gooey. Maybe we went on an off night and I had super high expectations because it was a birthday dinner - it just didn t feel special to me. Overall I loved the staff and the service, vibe was cool, it s mainly just the food that wasn t amazing.
Our host Chris was probably the best we ve seen in every capacity. Service, food, and experience exceeded our expectations. Definitely look forward to returning here.
Neighborhood favourite beautiful place to be celebrated And even juts step out and have some drinks whit you friends , lovely place amazing atmosphere.. yummy food great drinks very very classy love it
This is a must go to spot! From the food, to the atmosphere, everything was amazing, I also met a man named Himothy at the bar. He covered my whole bill and told me to pay it forward, and honestly that was a memorable experience! I encourage everyone to come to this place!
The food here was okay, I got the spicy vodka rigatoni. There was a few issues I had with this restaurant. First, they made us wait over 20 minutes for a reservation that had been made weeks in advance. This is pretty insane considering that if you even come 10 minutes late to a restaurant your reservation gets cancelled. They didn t even offer anything complimentary. Second, I think that their cake fee of 5 dollars per person is a bit too high - it should be more like 2-3 which is what it is at other restaurants. The atmosphere overall is nice and the servers were friendly. I d maybe come for a dinner date but I would avoid doing a group dinner or birthday event here.
Very overrated good spot to go for drinks though the food was subpar. Steak came cold. Broccolini was way overcooked it was mush, and the mushrooms We re still raw the only thing good was the truffle mash and the tiramisu. Bartender made me the wrong drink, and then had an attitude about it. Loud music, which was a nice vibe. Wasn t a fan of the crowd, will not return
Excellent food! Every single meal we got, we enjoyed and left so satisfied. Atmosphere is beautiful, wasn t too busy and great crowd. We also enjoyed the music! Server was super attentive and very helpful. 10/10! Would definitely go again just for the truffle mashed potatoes - it was amazing!
4.4 / 5 - could be a bit higher. The first night we got one of everything - Dover sole, Caviar, USDA Prime Ribeye, Wagyu, Baked Alaska, Lobster Tails, prawns, and whatever else. It was a Wed night, early December. Manager with glasses, younger gentlemen, was very cool and helpful. Our server was new, from a bar on Ossington if I remember, and she was a star. Elevated the entire experience. It was 5 star. I liked the Sole a lot. It wasn t table side service though. The Shrimp cocktail was something I d skip. USDA is always good. It was a fun taste of culinary delicacies. I think we drank the truffle butter. It was really good. The next night I returned on a date (previous was a friend dinner). And none of the Wed night staff was there. Server was not impressed with me, or me with her. Had an appy, martini, and we left. Just felt off. Not a great vibe for me the 2nd night. Stylish Montreal/Miami decor. I will go again. Just maybe on Wednesday s only ;) Vegetarian options: They will make anything. Wheelchair accessibility: Flat entry off the road right in. No stairs and all one floor. Washrooms we re small. Don t recall a handicapped one.
I loved this place, the food was amazing, the service was good and the place was beautiful just you can feel the vibe of that TikTok trend restaurant lot of pretentious people, but overall was a great place,I definitely I ll definitely visit it again
This place is highly overrated for the quality of food that was provided as well as the service. The drinks were good and that was it I ordered a 10oz tenderloin steak with jus and truffle mash. The steak was supposed to be medium well and was so charred it tasted like burn for $90 I sent it back and waited 20 minutes for another steak while my date already had his meal. I was left with my truffle mash that had a Parmesan crust that also tasted burnt and wasn t enjoyable. I ordered a single glass of red wine and they brought 2 glasses out I didn t order 2 so I assumed it was for the inconvenience of the burnt steak wrong we were charged for both. I got my steak and had it with the ice cold left over mash that I removed the burnt Parm crust off of with a new sauce brought to me I never ordered thinking I d get back my Jus to my surprise I received peppercorn sauce and was so frustrated I just wanted to try and eat and leave. Our experience was horrible overall and they didn t even offer a discount or anything to compensate for their poor quality burnt food. Absolutely ridiculous for the price. My date said his the highlight of his chicken dish was the gravy. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. No locks on the 2 washrooms available and very cramped space. From the poor reviews not being addressed that speaks volumes about the quality and integrity of this establishment.
Loved this place. My first time trying a seafood tower. Loved the Chardonnay sauce. My steak the Japanese Wagyu was perfection. Favourite side dish was the truffle mash.
DO NOT RECOMMEND! I wanted to share my experience with you guys because I have never felt so discussed with an atmosphere in my life. I am studying Interior architecture so I will give you my point of view for the atmosphere. First we had tried to walk into the restaurant thinking it was closed because the front door was so heavy we couldnt open it... other customers were complaining about this issue as well... no one was at the reception desk to realize we couldnt get in, finally someone helped us. The second issue was the projections they were playing on the columns... there was a women undressing herself, wearing lingerie. Not the right way to make an environment feel and look sexy. The projections were something unique... but very stupid idea of putting all these women on the screen undressing. The third issue was the waitress had sat the 2 guys we were on a double date with towards the projections, really disrespectful. We were stuck staring at a wall the whole time. We felt extremely degraded as a women. The fourth problem was that there was absolutely no space in the washrooms... not sure how that can be Ontario building code compliant, there must be 3 feet radius around the washroom. Especially with someone that can be in a wheel chair!! When we had entered as well, the wheelchair button didnt work...very helpful. extremely disgusted. This is all a breach of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Human Rights Code. `
This place cannot be real actually the worst steak I ve ever had - waited an hour for it and it was cold and plated unattractively. Music too loud and ambience was creepy. Typical King St tik tok restaurant, don t waste your time!
Pedro was an amazing server, he was very attentive and helped us decide what to get on the menu and also made sure we were happy with our choices, overall I was super happy with his service. Thank you Pedro
Amazing staff and delicious well thought out menu
Food is on point, staff is fantastic but the place is a little smaller than expected. I would come back next time im in town. Recommend trying it out
Great pasta.
The food was very tasty, however the portions were small considering the price. The ambiance is nice but small, not bad overall.
Food is great services excellent in the ambiance is also very nice. Ill definitely come again.
Atmosphere is great, service was horrible the waitress was lost, took her forever to bring our drinks, food, etc. she would forget our order. It got to a point where we just got up from our table and went to order drinks at the bar because it was faster. Food not that great over priced very bland. Worth the experience and checking out once, but will definitely not return.
First off let me say, Christian and Kim provided amazing service made me feel very welcomed. Service was more than satisfactory. Oysters were a 5/5, I really enjoyed the blueberry mignonette garnish, spicy vodka rigatoni was a 4, can t go wrong with this dish. The sea bass was cook perfectly just lacked flavour but I could easily eat a whole serving by myself. Value wise it was a 3/5 but honestly the service, ambience and presentation really does make up for it. Won t be back soon but I d come back.
Nice intimate setting with great food and service.
Food was so good but bit pricey. Service is excellent Atmosphere was good Food : 5/5
Wagyu Bolognese is my favourite. (Spicy)! Whole is great portion for 2 people!
Kaileigh nailed it - her espresso martinis were on point. Steph ive just met but known since band come. Maxine s could use more Tyler energy.
Very disappointed with my last visit here a few nights ago. They took the lamb chops off the menu( dont know why). The whole lobster was chewy, and literally burnt , the bread was burnt , we asked for no bacon on the clams due to my friend s religion, they brought them with bacon in it. Ive been here 3 times in the last 2 months and its gotten worse everytime.
Dinner Weekend Service - Reservations booked in advance. Entrance is eye catching. Friendly staff. Loud and busy environment. Dressy casual attire. Food served within reasonable timing. Wagyu & Veal bolognese was delicious! Would recommend for date night/ girls night/ birthday dinner.
amazing food & service! the restaurant is gorgeous as well, bathrooms are so small.
Came here with my friends; we got the lobster ceviche, spicy vodka rigatoni, zataar chicken, truffle mushroom pasta, and half seafood witu Espresso Martini. The food wasnt bad but it also wasnt impactful for the taste - except the lobster ceviche. My friends half seafood was soo small, he was quite upset considering the price. While knowing seafood is always pricey we expected at least an exceptional taste. Service however was great, our waitress was very friendly and on top of our orders. Overall, I think this restaurant has too much buzz for what you get. Especially since Gustot is down the street but is more filling and tasteful.
As other reviewers have stated, the service is really good but the food is definitely missing something. The dessert were really just okay. Maybe the hot food is better.
It was my first time at this place and I wish they payed more attention to the waitstaff behaviour, we got charged for the wrong thing on a valentines special and the server was quite rude for no reason and her behaviour seemed to spread to the rest of her colleagues. We had it sorted out by a guy working there don t care much for her attitude but a decent service would be nice
Terrible service for the price. Mediocre food. Great dj. The one star is for the dj.
EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE. Enjoyed every single second i was there. The Servers were wonderful, helpful and caring. The food was amazing!!! 1st bite tastes like Heaven, 2nd takes you there . The energy and atmosphere was magnificent. Highly recommended
dined in without high expectations, but I was impressed by every dishes I ordered. My favourite was the tomahawk steak and the rigatoni. Truffle mashed potatoes blended so well with the steak
Beautiful decor but worse service ever. Watching everyone around us (who arrived after us) getting their food meanwhile we had to wait 1 hour to have our starters . Not going back .
Poor customer service. We had a terrible experience at this restaurant with my friends.
Riley was our server tonight and she was great. I never leave reviews but I genuinely enjoyed her service. She was super nice and made sure to top off our glasses when needed!
Very good food, I just found it a little pricey for what they offer.
The ambiance of this location is very nice but the food is overrated and tasteless. Super overpriced for what you re getting. Our server was nice though!
Lovely place and great food and service
Cool atmosphere with great food.
Went on NYE and had an amazing time. Great food. Amazing music. Loved the ambiance !
celebrating my birthday month and this was one of the restaurants I decided to visit! Definitely worth the hype! The vibe, aesthetics, ambiance, and service was amazing! We dined last night Jan 5th @ 6:30pm and our server was amazing! Even the hosts were amazing as well! Across the board staff were great, I was very impressed! The space was small and intimate but very classy. Only down side were the bathrooms, only two stalls and very tight. Cocktails were amazing! We had the lychee and espresso martinis and both we d definitely order again! We tried the blueberry tea which was okay! Food: Spicy vodka rigatoni definitely had a nice kick to it, the Maxime s cut 8oz wagyu was amazing, melted in my mouth. Truffle mashed potatoes to die for!! One of my fav side dishes I ve ever tried! I d highly recommend that! Creamed spinach was more on the tangy/sour end, I wish it was a bit more creamier! The chocolate cherry bomb was great not too sweet! Overall I d definitely recommend this place and I d 100% come back again!
They got cockroaches
Music too loud then can not talk, steak terrible seasoning means same seasoning on every type of steak, lobster already cook and just heat on grill means not grills at all, still cold inside, salad too salty, the chef (maybe headchef) outside the kitchen talk too loud make me and my table were scared. Terrible experience.
Cant wait to go back! Food, service, atmosphere were all amazing!
Amazing food, drinks and atmosphere! LOVE the vibe it s bringing, especially the decor and visuals. Will definitely be going back again. (Lychee martini is my new go-to)
Super cool spot, the vibe is amazing and food is phenomenal - hard to choose a dish because they are all amazing! Tuna carpaccio was a standout as was the steak. Definitely order the petit bottle service with friends and stay for the DJ!
An amazing new spot! Our sever, David was so attentive, knowledgeable and had great recommendations. The food was phenomenal, especially the Wagyu burgers and the Wagyu and Veal Bolognese. Will definitely be back! Food
The food was next level delicious, tuna carpaccio is a must try!
Cool new spot! Food, service and atmosphere was beyond amazing! The Wagyu burgers, Lobster Ceviche and Wagyu and Veal Bolognese were delicious! Will definitely be back!
Wow! Definitely going to be back. The food, drinks, vibes in here are amazing. The lobster ceviche is a must!
What an absolute EPIC spot!! Very cool Dinner Club Miami vibes with incredible food. Highly recommend the Mashed Potatoes (trust me, not your typical potatoes) and the Prawns are next level. A++
We went here on their opening night on a Saturday night. Honestly my expectations were pretty low for a King Street restaurant but it absolutely exceeded expectations. The decor is gorgeous and right from coming in the service was excellent. It is a beautiful spot. The food was amazing. We started with drinks and a few martinis. I will say I was a little disappointed with a Martini. They have a specialty martini which includes dry ice and a whole show at the table side. They do charge a premium for this however the martini was great but there was absolutely no show. The dry ice created no smoke whatsoever. We did mention it to the waitress and at first she tried to tell us we missed it but I had filmed it all on video and showed it to her that there was no shell and so they offered to take the martini away and redo the show but the martini was so good we just continued anyways. We then had some East Coast oysters which were delicious. Their housemaid sauces are some of the best I ve ever had. We also had the lobster ceviche which was phenomenal as well as the salmon Crudo which was amazing. We tried the Barata salad which wasn t bad but wasn t as good as some of the other options. We also had the lamb which was absolutely phenomenal. Even my friends that don t like lamb loved it. We also got a wagyu steak however there was some issues with the Steak when it came out but the staff were super helpful and quickly took it back and corrected the order. They also remove the cost of the steak from the menu and the chef himself even came out to apologize for the problems which I found absolutely amazing for service. They have a decent wine selection and ironically their wines are actually not marked up very much so we really enjoyed the restaurant. Everything from service to ambiance was amazing. The decor is gorgeous and the DJ was phenomenal. I would definitely be coming back and I can probably say this is one of my new favourite spots in the area
Our waitress Barbara was the sweetest lady!! Her service was amazing, energy, & she made us feel welcomed. She was so helpful with the menu & had recommended my friend a drink to try which she ended up loving. Food & ambiance was 10/10. We ordered 1 tiramisu for dessert & apparently when you remove the plastic wrap the tiramisu was suppose to fall into place. What barbara ended up doing is which we thought she went above & beyond was after 2 attempts of the dessert not falling into place she sent another tiramisu so we could record it which me & my girls thought was so sweet & thoughtful. We will definitely come back here again!
Amazing food and vibe. The wagu sliders and oysters were some of the best I ve ever had
Barbara was an amazing server! The entire staff was very approachable and kind. We really enjoyed dining here. Barbara and the pastry chef went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience when the dessert didnt originally come out planned. Drinks and food were excellent! Thank you Barbara :)
Delicious food! Would recommend ordering the oysters, tuna carpaccio, lobster ceviche, spicy vodka rigatoni and truffle mash potatoes Cocktails need a little bit of work but would recommend coming here overall
Insanely well designed space with a diverse menu and excellent service. Food was top-notch with and the cocktails were outstanding.
I came to this restaurant on a Friday night. Service was amazing we ordered our food and it came out right away! I would come again to this place on a Friday or Saturday night. There was a Dj and the vibes were great! Drinks and food are good! I didn t get to try a lot of the items on the menu but a lot of people ordered oysters!
Beautiful spot! Food and cocktail menu is well curated! Everything in the menu is delicious especially the tuna carpaccio
Came here on a Friday night. I love the lychee martinis! The tuna carpaccio is my favourite in the city. The veal bolognese, steak and fish was also good and cooked to perfection. I will definitely come back again and would recommend checking this new restaurant out.
went with my partner for date night. Lovely ambience, service from Mark was fantastic, from beginning to end. Food was good. We had the tomato bread (good), burrata (only feedback was the dish was VERY salty, as if salt was accidentally dumped on), sliders (salty but good), bolognese (half portion, very good and filling) and spicy rigatoni (good and you can really taste the spice). Cocktails were amazing, both were recommended to us and we were very impressed. Once it hit 9pm, the vibe in the restaurant really changed. Music turned up, black out curtains rolled in. Almost became a cocktail lounge - very cool, new vibe for the city. Overall we d give it a 4.2/5. $$ but cool spot, just a few dishes needed to be perfected! Parking: Underground parking in the building!
First time attending this restaurant I must say it s really beautiful inside especially the entrance. They gave me a great table beside the dj booth. The music was great and the server went above and beyond. How could I ever forget such great service! Her name was Bonnie, thank me later :)
I am surprised with the taste of the food and service. Better than most of the restaurants in Toronto.
Steak was a 10/10. Service was super slow though.
Great food, a really nice place ,a bit small, I would say, but sophisticated stuff is amazing...Cocktails were good as well... Perfect for a date or dinner with friends
Superb
I came here with my wife for our 11th wedding anniversary. We had an amazing experience best restaurant thus far
Worst experience ever. We had a reservation and been seated and after a while a waiter came to us to pour some water and took drink orders which was signature martini and Manhattan, after 10 mins without even pouring water for us he came back to get food order and we asked for our drinks but he said bartender is so busy. So we order food but mentioned that want our drinks before food please. Drinks came without presentation as it mentioned on the menu so we asked why, and our waiter said it supposed to present at the table but bartender is so busy, it seemed bartender hadn t have time just for our table because they just pour martini with the smoke as it mentioned on the menu for the group behind our table just a minute before our drinks come. We felt so disappointed and willing to leave without touching even our water and they didn t even apologize for their poor hospitality. The place is not as it looks like just as big as our living room with open kitchen and strong food smell. Have regret for spending on the parking for this awful place that they named it a restaurant. Can t even serve a drink.
Food: Lamb was probably the best dish Ive had this year. It was perfectly seasoned and the pickled onions and fresh herbs that accompanied it took it to the next level. Highly recommend this dish and probably would return just for this. It was pricey, but I feel the value and execution of this dish was worth it. Others had the steak and said that it was delicious as well. The truffle mashed potatoes were very overrated in my opinion. The mash itself was similar to boxed mash. The truffle flavour was barely there (although it does come with 5 shavings of truffle on top). They were ok, but definitely not worth the hype and price. Overall, food is extremely expensive for what it is. I get that its a fancy steakhouse and you want a certain clientele, but $35 for Burrata salad with a few slices of tomatoes and half of a (likely Canadian made) burrata is pretty outrageous. I guess if thats your vibe, then this is the place for you. Atmosphere: Cool atmosphere if you are looking for a fun night out with the DJ. The music can get very loud making it hard to have a conversation (something to note if youre on a date). Service: It was on the slower side, but our waitress was nice. There were a few discrepancies with the bill and they charged us for a birthday cake for the birthday girl (they didnt mention that wed have to pay for it and they didnt give us a choice of dessert given that we were ultimately paying for it - the birthday girl didnt like bananas and we were given a bananas foster dessert for $22). If they had been transparent on us having to pay for the dessert vs. assuming theyd bring her something on the house, wed have chosen something she actually enjoyed.
quality service & food. the atmosphere is also very nice, i highly recommend.
I absolutely loved this place and will be back! The pasta and baklava was amazing!
Food was great! Ambience was great. 10/10 recommend
Super impressed by this place! Very intimate (not too many tables) but If you can get a spot it s awesome! Good food, amazing server (Timea served us), and great cocktails (they re all premium spirits and doubles, so it may seem expensive but it s actually worth it)!
Walking in you have intriguing and inviting lighting followed by an open kitchen. The bartender made me a custom cocktail with rum & egg whites, creamy and lovely. We started with beef tartar topped with caviar for extra elegance. Next was our favorite dish, lobster ceviche. Wow! An explosion of flavors that paired so nicely with their homemade seasoned water crackers. I couldve eaten one to myself. Clams casino was a fun medley of flavors. Shrimp was light & fluffy with excellent sauce. About this time they closed the heavy curtains and Club Maximes arrived. We were there for it! Our rack of lamb was cooked perfectly accompanied by a gorgeous medley of onions, yogurt and herbs. Every dish had a wonderful touch of fresh herbs that elevated every bite! Chef really knows what hes doing! That being said service was impeccable with the staff working so well together and helping everywhere. Special shout out to the Davids! Go for the sexy ambiance, stay for the stunning menu!
Beautiful restaurant, cozy atmosphere and the service is great
I had a fantastic first experience at Maximes for my birthday. The service was professional and friendly. The venue itself was very intimate - I counted approx. 14 tables with a bar for extra seating (not including the outside patio). The atmosphere was sexy, fun, and exciting. The kitchen is open concept so you can see the cooking process which added to the overall experience. I ordered the lobster ceviche, burrata, spicy rigatoni, tiramisu, and lychee martini to drink. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The lychee martini and tiramisu were winners in my opinion. Overall, I was really impressed with my experience at Maximes and I will be back!
Such a cute place our server nikki was exceptional went above and beyond her way to make sure our experience was good, exceptional service by her!
Food was good but over rated for the price. Cozy atmosphere. Good DJ music. Service- waiter was very kind but the service in general super slow. I wouldn t go back again. Food : 3/5 |
Great food and cocktails, but an inexperienced and mistake-riddled service ultimately led to a disappointing experience. Food: Overall, the kitchen is very skilled and the menu is excellent, with some exceptions. The starters of Crispy Rock Shrimp and Ahi Tuna Carpaccio were exceptional well presented, flavourful, and balanced. The lobster main was also good; cooked well and paired well with the balsamic butter dip. The Canadian Tenderloin was seasoned and cooked perfectly and had a great sear. The first issue was with the Truffle Mashed Potatoes. Our serving came with no truffle shavings nor truffle oil, contrary to other images online. The mashed potato itself was also poorly seasoned and did not contain anything else except for the cheese and chives on the surface. For $19, this was incredibly disappointing. The drinks were good well balanced cocktails that had complex flavours and used high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, the glass had a chip on the rim which is a major oversight for a $20 cocktail. Service: I cant say if the staff was inexperienced, understaffed, was having a particularly tough night, or all of the above, but the service was shockingly poor. This led to a string of easily avoidable mistakes that ultimately soured the dining experience. 1. I saw that the steak sat at the counter for a considerable amount of time. When it was served, it had already lost a lot of heat. This was a significant disservice to an otherwise excellent steak. 2. The waiter forgot the chimichurri sauce and, upon informing them, it took upwards of 10 minutes for the sauce to come. 3. The candle underneath the balsamic butter dip for the lobster came unlit and left the sauce sitting cold. 4. We had initially ordered the Clams Casino, but was served the shrimp instead. While the shrimp dish was great, this was still a mistake in service. 5. Service was overall slow and imperfect. Dishes took up to 10 minutes to be cleared and our waiter did not ask for the steak doneness (I had to reconfirm after ordering). 6. Our table was not ready despite having a reservation and, when we were seated, the table was not properly cleaned and was still sticky. One of these points occurring is forgivable, but the slew of mistakes over the course of our evening was disappointing and highlights the lack of training and the degree of understaffing present. I understand that the restaurant is new, however, the mistakes cannot be overlooked, especially given the expectations commanded by the price range of the menu. After mentioning the most glaring shortcomings to the manager, he generously comped the steak and the accompanying sides. Atmosphere: The interior is intimate and and the decorations are modern. The bar and entrance are especially impressive and the open kitchen is a great sight. The bathrooms are acceptable, although there was only one unisex bathroom for the entire restaurant, which led to queues at times. Also, the tables were quite unstable and required adjusting after seating. Overall, the kitchen and menu was great, however, there were a lot of major issues with service that will deter me from recommending this restaurant until they are addressed.
3/10 - takes way too long to get everything (1.5 hours on 30 minutes food that apparently had an 8 minute refire); had to send the food back twice (table next to us came 1 hour after us but got food 30 min before us); drinks weak af; service opaque Would not recommend. The Keg makes a better steak. Redeeming quality is that the very overworked staff have a brave face that makes you feel welcomed
The staff including the hostess and the server were very pretentious and judgy. I can describe the evening and the comments and behaviours or just tell you to take your $$ elsewhere. Our group of 5 will not be back.
Came to Maximes for a date night. The red carpet entry and the foyer was so inviting. The doorman was friendly and courteous. He even took photos for us. The food was good but a bit overpriced. The ambiance was very nice though. At one point, the music was very loud making hard to hear my husband who was sitting right across from me. The tables are also very close together. The server for the table beside ours could have bent over and her butt would be literelly on my plate. Overall, it was a nice experience. Probably wont visit again, but it was nice to experience it a least once.
the food was delicious! the service was horrible - our server was rude & acted like we were not worth her time. loved the atmosphere & the vibes but the stuck up server ruined it.
Food is really meeting the expectation. It s not only tasty but not too oily which I like. Can enjoy a dinner with the girls and not worry too much
This place is a major pass. Let me first start by saying the service by our server Dani was phenomenal. 6 star service but the food was negative 3 so hence the average number for the review. A typical King West restaurant with more flash than quality/substance in the food. Pass the crispy Rock shrimp. The Ahi Tuna carpaccio is salty and also a pass. The spicy rigatoni feels like a passable attempt at Carbones signature pasta dish. Home made pasta texture, correct me if Im wrong. Let me give you a visual on the steak to demonstrate the food quality. For 135 dollars, the quality of the ribeye was not USDA beef but if you observe the non-existent crust, youll understand that this is the expectation for a steak of this price range. The Banana Foster Baked Alaska is more of a creme brulee banana vs banana Foster. Heavy pass for a 400+ meal for three without drinks. Again, Danis service was phenomenal and saved the dinner amongst my girlfriend and friend from out of town. I should have gone to Alder instead. I suggest you do too.
Great atmosphere and host, Christian. Enjoyed a good meal and wine. It was hard to leave! Amazing music.
Everything was delicious. From the burrata to the sea bass. Boyfriend had the steak and truffle potatoes. 5 star. Great French martinis, enjoyed some of their signature cocktails as well. Get the baklava! The best I ve ever had.
This place is all flash just to mask the mediocre food and high prices. Didnt want to go here(forced) as I can spot these restaurants that target shallow dumb people with excess money and no brains. Women seem easily excited about nothing.
As my 13 year old would say, this place is mid. It s rated 5 stars by people that probably don t go to good restaurants for the food but look for the next best place for their IG stories. Twice, before serving us our drinks, we were asked if we wanted to pull our cameras out which was thoughtful and appropriate given that the rest of the crowd dining here seemingly had to document everything. We both had steaks that were not properly prepared (there s someone that reviewed the lack of sear - he was not wrong), fries were mid, oyster mushrooms were mid, tiramisu was mid, drinks mid. We asked our server how the eggplant frites were and they said that it was rated 1 star. The half lobster add on to my steak for $45 was alright. The ambiance was fun, music alright. Staff was awkward and inconsistent in their attention. Like many reviewers noted, service for beverages is slow. More flash than sizzle.
Server was nice & attentive, food came out almost a little too fast which is nice but rushy. Appetizers lacked a bit in flavor but portions were nice. Prices are a little random. Our starter was a Burrata Salad which was $33 but my Spicy Rigatoni (which was great) was only $21. Our server recommended adding lobster (3oz of lobster was an additional $20). Parking is a bit tuff. Atmosphere was ok small location with even smaller 1 at a time bathrooms. All in all 3/5 stars.
So much attitude from workers, Giving incorrect information, don t go here if you have allergies! overall a disappointing night,
Had the worst experience here, the customer service was so mad. Don t recommended going here!
Enjoyed a dinner at Maximes on October 28th, 2023. Amazing food and great service. Steak was wonderful quality and lobster ceviche was also delicious. The restaurants interior is modern and tasteful. Good mix of young and mature crowd. Wonderful, attentive servers and hosts/hostesses. Nice selection of classic and house special cocktails. Certainly planning to come back for more great times and food.
I came to this restaurant for a birthday. We each had to pay 110 plus tax for the just food which was preselected as it was family style serving and then the drinks extra. I don t mind paying my money, but not when the portion is extremely small and have to be shared with 3 others at my table. The steak was cooked medium rare, we wanted medium well. They took it back to warm it up and gave it back to us in less than a minute. It was still medium rare. The portion size was half an inch of steak, we each had one tiny piece and the other piece that was left over was just bone. The plates we had to eat in were super tiny saucers. It almost felt like we were eating samples of each item. I don t eat eggplant, so that was a waste. The fries were soggy. The fish was super small, although I don t eat fish. Only two people at my table was able to have a bite, as to how small it was. The pasta was bland, but the portion was enough to be shared. My bill came up to 375 dollars for my husband and I, which included three drinks we ordered. We don t drink coffee so the tiramisu just melted on the table. I felt like I paid for something that could ve been an appetizer, as I was still very hungry at the end of the night and unable to have a proper meal due to portion sizing and lack of substitutions. When we got there we asked if we could have a menu but we were told that everything was already selected for us which is weird because half of the things they preselected we don t eat.
ambiance was nice but everything else was lacking
Hands down one of the best restaurants around
bar tenders are nice here! its pretty loud inside
I recently dined at Maxime s and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The ambiance is so charming it s the perfect blend of sophistication and coziness. The culinary journey was incredible, each dish a masterpiece. We started with the oysters (which had the best selection of sauces I ve ever had), then the tuna carpaccio and eggplant frites. For our mains we shared the wagyu caesar, spicy rigatoni, and australian striploin. It was by far one of the best steaks I ve ever had. Our server Kim was absolutely extraordinary, her suggestions and energy made the evening unforgettable. Just when I thought the service couldn t get any better one of the managers, Christian, came to take our dessert order. I asked if they had creme brûlée which they didn t so he called their sister restaurant around the corner and ordered one for us which was ready at the bar when we walked over. I was beyond impressed. I ve never felt so taken care of!!!! Without a doubt, Maxime s has become my go-to for a perfect dining escapade.
Kim is the best!!! Kid-friendliness: Love Food : 5/5 |
I took my daughter for her 16th birthday as she wanted the formal dining experience. We drove all the way from NY to Canada for this and the service was rushed, unfriendly and too expensive for such poor service. I spent $400. for bland food with terrible service. Medium rear steak was raw not medium. The beautiful desert was thrown at us. Absolute Terrible service. Sad because the place is soooo beautiful. My daughter did not get a good experience at this place for her sweet 16. I wish I could remember our servers name because even the couple next to us had an issue with her. The wife moved just so she would not have to deal with her direct. You could see how they rushed below. Ps. The place was not that busy at all. So no reason for the rush. I barely had the chance to record.
Terrible service , steak wasnt done properly and waited way to long for it. Found a piece of hair in my food, never coming back here.
Went for some drinks with the girls. Service was great and management came by to make sure everything was to our liking. The ambiance was awesome and the live DJ was a nice touch. Would recommend.
Ahi tuna, Mediterranean salad, steak Chicago style with brandy peppercorn sauce with mushrooms is great! Staff at bar super friendly.
I had an amazing experience at Maximes! The staff and manager were exceptional, showcasing the impact of excellent management. The atmosphere was delightful, and the food was truly delicious. My only minor discomfort was with tables being near the service entrance, but overall, its a fantastic place worth visiting.
Great experience i loved the flavor of the food. I wasnt too impressed with the eggplant frites. I would come again to try the dessert and other items. Toodles x. Food : 4/5
Tonight we had the pleasure of dining at Maxime Restaurant, and I must say, the experience was made truly exceptional by our server, Kim. From the moment we walked in, Kim greeted us with a warm and welcoming smile that set the tone for the evening. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive. She offered great recommendations, balancing our preferences with the chefs specialties. Each dish she suggested was a hit, enhancing our dining experience remarkably. What stood out most was Kims attentiveness and professionalism. She struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us space to enjoy our meal. She was quick to respond to our requests, refilling our glasses before we even had to ask, and checking in just the right amount to ensure our evening was going smoothly. Kims passion for customer service shone through in every interaction. She made us feel valued and taken care of, turning a simple dinner into a memorable experience. Its rare to find someone who not only excels in their role but also adds a personal touch that elevates the entire experience. If you visit Maxime Restaurant, I highly recommend asking for Kim. Her exceptional service is a testament to the quality and standards of this establishment. We will definitely be returning, and we hope to see Kim again for another wonderful evening. Thank you, Kim, for making our dining experience at Maxime Restaurant so special!

We went to Maximes for dinner to celebrate a birthday. We were fashionably late and were told we only had the table for under an hour as they were fully booked. Our server was fantastic and spoke with the GM. The GM came to the table, introduced himself and worked out a way where we were able to spend several hours at this amazing restaurant. We had their caviar, seafood tower and steak. The seafood tower was definitely the best I ever had in Toronto. The food was fantastic but the hospitality is what made the night. Our server (Railey, hope i spelled it correctly) was on point. She was frequently checking on us but wasnt over doing it. She was brought me the best surprised cocktails. She always smiled and was always so polite. We both enjoyed having her with us all night. The overall vibe was perfect. The celebration was great. The birthday girl had a great time and loved the food..we would definitely come here again.
I had the Hiyoko Wagyu beef and it was amazing! It was cooked perfectly, and melted like butter. Truffle mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese were great sides 10/10. The manager came by to ask how our food was, which was appreciated. I loved the ambiance and music! Staff seemed friendly as well.
