This is one of our go tos for potluck parties! The food is just perfect and reasonably priced. We’ll also sometimes come here if we need something fast during the week when we’re unable to cook dinner.
I came at lunch. Food was still untouched and dry. I just wanted to try the dinuguan. It was $14.70 medium size. It was mostly fatty portion of the pork and put more peppers than meat.
Got my taho from them. I called first to confirm if it’s available. They are very accommodating ✅ I also called if they have balikbayan box and they have a few ✅
Guy who served us was so reluctant and as if it’s a favor that we are buying from them. Viands spread are extensive but will never go back to this place. At the end of the day, having a good meal coincides with better customer experience, the vibe here is just not there. Although, one tall lady was attentive and friendly, but the guy is not meant to face customers I guess. I have always been known to be patient and tolerant but, just can’t get pass to that last experience. No wonder there are way less people there ( despite the massive space) than in Van Horne which is just a quarter of the size in this place (Victoria). Also for some reason their Sisig from this Victoria branch is different from the Van Horne, I thought they have the same commissary. Van Horne Sisig is way better, less oily too. Some friends also felt disappointed and while there are more choices here, they don’t want to come back, not worth the drive anymore.
The chicken skin is crunchy and tastes good, but it still has hair on it, which makes it unappetizing and unacceptable. That’s a lot of hair! Tagpuan, I would appreciate it if you could address this issue. To customers or buyers, please check the chicken skin for hairs before consuming it.
A good friend of mine from Vancouver was visiting for the first time since the pandemic started. One of our favourite things to do is explore Toronto and sample food from different restaurants. One of our favourite things, believe it or not, is Chicharron, deep fried crispy chicken skin. It is the perfect snack food, deliciously crispy and light, not greasy at all. Tagpuan, a Filipino grocery store and restaurant, has the BEST version of this wonderful treat. Theirs is always just right, and also one of the most inexpensive in the city (that I've found, anyway). Try it!
I ordered food from APP. It says the original price was $18. To fight food wastes, it is $5.99 now. However I will never pay $18 for this small portion of food. Taste is not bad. That is why I gave two stars. I just feel it was a lie. Just try to sell more. There is the rice in the middle. Small portions veggies are on both sides.
I used the Too Good To Go app and tried out this Filipino takeout food. I was initially disappointed when I opened the package. There was rice in the center, some meaty things on one side and some vegetables things on the other side. They did not look substantial. The meaty thing was stewed goat. The vegetables thing was a mixed vegetables with eggplants, beans, and bitter melon with a garlic sauce flavored with dried shrimps I believe. Since I am a guy and a bigger eater, I did not find the food substantial or to be exceptional value. There was also a bun. I felt that because I thought these things through Too Good To Go are meant to be leftovers so my expectations were a bit higher in terms of volume of food. But my expectations might just be unrealistic. Now the taste. The food tasted really good. I reheated the food in the microwave for 3 minutes. Both the stew and the mixed vegetables tasted quite yummy. There was also a bun but I was reserving that for lunch tomorrow. Did I like the flavour? Absolutely. The stewed goat was boney though and did not have a lot of meat. But everything tasted pretty good. Would I do it again? I would say yes. Overall the process was super easy, the staff was courteous and the food was tasty. The area for improvement I would hope for would be a little more meat. I can't give a perfect score but it deserved a 4 star.
The sisig is delicious! The dinakdakan was waaay too fatty for my taste. Food : 5/5
2nd time that Ive ordered from this restaurant and ill definitely be back. Service is quick and friendly. Portions are fair (enough for most people) and the food is quite flavourful! They also have a variety of snacks and desserts which look amazing.
First time trying Filipino food and love it. Reminded my years back home. I enjoy the food with coconut flavor and some mild sour and spicy taste, very delicious. The rice was cooked to the perfect level, chewy and not mushy.
Its a very classic mid-day snacking outlet . Small, simple and good for a quick meal and conversation. The quantity is so good that it reminded me of Bangkok mid-town joints.
I will start by saying, everyone is very nice here and I do appreciate the work that goes into making Filipino cuisine. I asked about when the baked goods came in, the lady working said they came in that day and they were fresh. They were rock hard with mold on them. They didnt give my money back, but, put it towards some thing else I decided to buy, as it seemed difficult to just get my funds back, even though I had my receipt and I was in just a moment earlier. They did apologize for this and all went well enough. I ordered a noodle dish. No meat, just noodles and some shredded veg. I would say a little on the pricey side for what I got. I had a special dessert as well, which was very delicious, but just very expensive for the portion. Just sharing my experience.
Cute spot with 1-2 2-seater tables for dine-in and Filipino grocery products. I was especially stoked that they carry San Marino Corned Tuna which many Asian grocery and Filipino stores dont carry for some reason. I was 2nd in line and did have to wait around 10 minutes, although the party ahead of me bought over $100, ordering several different dishes. There were a couple of customers dining in as well, so it seems steady, though not a crazy busy store; Id be prepared for the chance of a wait or call ahead. Decided to take out one of their -silogs as well, which are all cooked to order, unlike their other dishes, but it was less than a 10 minute wait. Great fresh housemade chicharon too and they didnt charge me extra for using VISA, unlike many other Filipino stores that either dont take it at all or add a surcharge of as high as $5. Overall a walkable-friendly addition to the neighbourhood. Kid-friendliness: Filipino shopkeepers generally find children amusing
Worth it, love their dinakdakan Long live!
Yummy foods
If this restaurant represents good quality food from their region, I feel pity for people live in there.
Great food at a very reasonable price. This location is new but tons have been popping up. The staff were super friendly and the restaurant was bright and clean. Note that it s small so there aren t many seats if you plan to eat there. I ordered on TooGoodToGo and the pickup was fast and food was fresh and hot like they had just made it. They even gave me extra food! Will be back!
Not really any vegan options.
Yummy
