73 Coxwell Ave, Toronto, ON M4L 3B1, Canada
Fast-food stop offering classic English fish 'n' chips in a no-frills storefront.
This place never fails to serve delicious old style halibut and chips. Delicious every time. So hard to find quality these days and thus place is too notch. A hidden gem
It’s really good food, however the portion of fish is really small. I got the halibut and it was the size of my palm. It also felt like there was more batter than fish (though the batter was also really good. I don’t know if it’s worth the price, but it’s definitely good quality food.
It was our first time trying out this place, it turned out as an amazing experience! The food was really hot and delicious, the craft sodas were a hit and the portion was so big we couldn’t even finish it! Definitely recommended, can’t wait to go there again❤️
Best fish and chips in Toronto!! Good prices underrated don’t know why people leave bad reviews let me tell you those people are wrong!!
Affordable and delicious fish & chips! My go-to place, and I usually get the special of the week. Every time I’ve had the fish it was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The owner is also very kind and works quickly.
My wife and I visited this place after it was recommended by her father and I gotta say, he knows his stuff. This place is great! I have tried a few fish and chips and this is definitely on the higher end of my list. The fish is delicious, batter is good, chips are good. The gravy in the poutine was not too salty and tasted just right. Loved it. And the prices are completely reasonable! I really enjoyed the fact that they fry the fish as you order it. It’s as fresh as can be! Definitely recommend it!!!
I usually order 1 piece Haddock and chips. The fish portion is huge about 6 once. The batter is perfect. Not to thick and just right. Fish real flaky. The home cut fries are excellent and lots o I highly recommend you try it.
Good portions. Delicious halibut and fresh cut fries. Place is a bit outdated but I come here for the food.
Amazing
Excellent fish and chips. For sure the best in on the east end.
I received great, fast service. I ll be visiting soon.
Great haddock and clam strips just the way i like it!!!!
You will not find a better Fish & Chips in the city of Toronto. Exceptional food , Exceptional price..Our only Fish & Chip shop. You will not be disappointed. Kid-friendliness: Absolutely Wheelchair accessibility: No
Takeout halibut was chewy. Not edible
This is our first visit. We ordered cod and chips. Love it. Definitely recommend this place.
I ordered scallops and fries with a side of gravy. The fries and gravy were both good, however the five small bay scallops I received were extremely overdone, leaving the scallop dry and hard to chew. Had to send photo to delivery service and got a partial refund. If anyone can tell me how to post a photo here of my disgusting scallops, please let me know
Everything was amazing, make sure to get the gravy with your fries!
The chips are the best !
A hidden gem in Toronto. The place feels like a fish and chips shop in the UK, the fish is tasty and they dont hold back on the fries. All that for a very reasonable price too!
Average
Very good fish and chips. In my top 5 for all of toronto
Very affordable, home style fish and chips. Will be back for sure.
Good portions generally however the springs, clams and scallop portion is not great. Fish is delicious and there is a great selection of craft sodas.
The fries was raw, disappointed
Great fish and chips. Nice little old school place. EDIT: still great.
Never has gravy lazy after 830pm doesnt want business just to clean up n go home
After living nearly 10 years in the United Kingdom, we felt this place was worth a go and it didnt disappoint! The options for fish were numerous and the service was super friendly and quick. The only thing missing were the mushy peas!
Friendly and all-around great fish. Had the cod and haddock before a Dr Fresch concert and the food set us off right for the venue. Its not too heavy but filling for a decent price. Cheaper than any large chain.
The closest british chippy you will find in GTA area! Couldnt recommend it enough! The best! Makes me think of home
Nice small place to have fish and chips. Neat and clean usually empty but service is slow.
Ok. I love Fish n Chips so much. I ordered it one night at a Steak house lol. I was driving home after work when I had a job in Toronto. Driving along and I see this British Style Fish n Chips. A small restaurant. let me tell you. I was not disappointed. This is my now go to place when in Toronto. Service was excellent.
Very good fish and chips. Thanks so much. Food
Slowest restaurant I ve ever seen in my life.
It must of changed ownership...there was no one waiting ...my first clue Chips were soggy and fish was not fluffy very different from what it used to be Food
Well something has changed this used to be good! Our order we picked up was undercooked and soggy. Very disappointed
Decent fish and chips
Good place
Delish house-made fries
Delicious. Perfect ratio of batter to halibut.
Go to fish and chips spot. Always friendly staff and good service!
Very accommodating to Film and Television Productions. Nothing but basic British Fish n Chips as well as other Deep Fried Sea Food.
Love it!
I visit at least 4 times before making an opinion. Each time I order Halibit and chips. .. Each time the fries were great but the fish was dry very chewy and reminded me of dry steak. I will try one more time.
Nice guy who run the shop alone.
Absolutely delicious! A must try for fish and chips lovers
Light breading, perfectly crispy. Fries are also amazing. Great mom and pop business.
Impeccable food and service!! It may seem a bit costly at first but its cheaper than anywhere else and is literally the BEST in Toronto, probably Ontario.
Craving some fish and chips in the east end? This is the place. Decent portion size given the price, compared to other places that charge way more now.
Yummy
This is my #1 spot and best Ive tried to date! Worth going on a daily or weekly basis!
Best fish and chips Ive had in the GTA. In the quiet part of town enjoy a nice plate of haddock and chips on a rainy day.
Great food, big portions and friendly staff.
Hands down best fish and chips I have ever had. I come all the way from Toronto just to eat here, FYI order light batter
Really good value, sizable portions, and the food was great.
Very good fish and chips great service.
Great fish and chips. Nice flavor and not greasy. Batter was light. Piece of fish was a little small but the price was also lower than other places. Will definitely return when in the area.
Delish
Good food
Great fish and chips!
Very authentic British style fish and chips. Comes wrapped in paper (proper) and is extremely tasty!
Not sure what is with all the good reviews worst fish I ever had. Batter harder than a hockey puck. Never mind where s Waldo. More like where the halibut? And the cherry on top is the fact that the packaged tar tar sauce is a sad excuse for tar tar sauce
I got the scallops & chips and an order of halibut and chips .my scallops were over done and my chips were underdone! My daughter had the fish & said it was fine but again her chips were underdone! Needless to say it was not the best experience!
Tasty fast service. Reasonable prices
Small local neighborhood mom and pop - old school out of the way joint. Very nice Halibut fish and chips, the fries are on point. If I had to complain about something - thrown in MORE tarter sauce and ketchup packets in the bag please. Have ordered from them many times - can recommend.
Great food and pretty good prices.
Way over priced!
Not clean and tiny amount of halibut fish, mostly large amount non fresh sloggychips, full of burnt oil smell. Never try this place again
Awesome fish and love the coslaw
Nasty food we got tonight it was so oily and soggy. My stomach hurts and nasty taste of oil stuck now. Fish was small but looks big w so much breading. Gross not worth the cost at all.
Fresh tasting fish and chips what a great place to have your dinner clean clean and quiet many different styles of fish and chips English style fish and chips a great way to start your evening customer friendly and clean
BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN TORONTO HANDS DOWN.
AMAZING FISH N CHIPS!!!EVERY TIME!!!! FRESH OIL ALWAYS MAKES THE BEST TASTING FOOD N THESE GUYS HAVE MASTERED IT EFFORTLESSLY!!!! I Will always go bk here!!! LOVE THESE GUYS N THIS PLACE!!! Sincerely Ash!
The food is excellent! We had Pollock and Chips! They have a nice variety on the menu! The price offers the value of the awesome meal you are served! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves eating fish. They are popular by the locals.
halibut was okay (a bit bland and soggy) likely b/c of the far away delivery, probably best to get it in shop or pick up. the chips were more notable than the fish, which seemed rather sad and small for a fillet
Great quality fish and chips but a bit pricey, but like most fish and chip places really I guess.
My favorite Fish and Chips spot located at Coxwell and Dundas. A variety of seafood like Halibut, Haddock and Cod with juicy breaded shrimps and of course the French Fries cooked to perfection. Eat in or phone ahead for pickup and or have your good delivered. Love this establishment.
Excellent service great fries, tasting fish and coleslaw however very low quality oil used.
Great food
Very Tasty Fish and Chips. Excellent service.
The fries were mediocre and the batter dissapointing
As an East Coaster, I was looking for a new Fish/Chips place & I found this restaurant awesome!
Favourite fish and chips in the city. Top notch
My Friend Ernie raves about this place so I went there yesterday for the first time and was impressed with the cleanliness of the store and the friendliness of the staff and and chef. Great food.Big portions.
Cute local spot. I would definitely ask for more fish next time as they only give one piece.
This USED to be the best F&Cs in the whole city, 5 stars...I ate there nearly everyday...but that was more than a decade ago. Today the price has doubled, the portions are halved, and depending on who prepares it you may get the wettest piece is fish youve ever had that is simultaneously all batter. It also had a hair on it...a short, dark curly one. I threw it out.
Some of the better proper fish and chips Ive had in Canada. Shame theres no mushy peas but still definitely worth trying.
Food Is Always Always Always Amazing!
Love this place best fish and chips in the world please open back up
Awesome fish and chips. So glad they are open again!
Very good fish
I must say, the best Fish n chips place Ive ever had. I will definitely being going back there again.
Incredibly tasty fish and chips freshly fried to order and the prices are amazing. Staff are also very friendly.
Really glad they are open again. Best fish and chips in the area!
Halibut fish was average at best if off a coffee truck the shrimp were different but ok.. the French fries were good. repeat NO THOSE REVIEWS WERE A QASTE
Super fast! Was walking home, the taco place wasn t picking up the phone when low and behold what came into view . British Style and they were open. Saviour of my night. Just greasy old style fish and chips. Batter could be crispier, but I m satiated!
Always a pleasure ordering fish and chips from here. So happy they reopened after a long COVID forced absence.
I really enjoyed the fish and chips.
Tasty food at excellent prices. Staff are very nice, quick and efficient.
Probably the worst food ive ever tasted. If you like dry and burnt chicken. Yuck. You will get better in Loblaws for 5 bucks
Great place will tell all my family and friends
love the halibut fish and chips!
Straight goods! This is how fish and chips is supposed to be. Take out yessss
Absolute BEST fish & chips EVER
Amazing fish & chips, coleslaw, and the best onion rings Ive had in a long time. Reminded me of a little fish and chips shack in Scotland. Would visit again :)
Delicious
Very good... very generous portion of chicken and fish fillet.
fresh and delicious!
Favorite fish & chips in the city. Great gravy & coleslaw too!
I miss you ...like Bunches!
Chips are great but the fish is often over cooked to the point where the edges are stiff and chewy like jerkey (the fish inside, not the batter). How badly varies, but in the worst case I was able to pick up the inner fillet and actually bang it against the table. The fish inside should normally be soft and flaky!! (at other fish and chips shops it always is). Todays was only moderately overcooked and chewy but its frustrating especially when youre buying the halibut, which is the most expensive. They should use a timer if they dont have the expertise to realize by sight how long to cook it for (which they apparently dont).
nice portion nice staff i enjoy the fish and chips very much
Decent place for a cheap meal. Food was good but a bit oily for my liking. Decor could use some work though.
Great selection of fish and at moderate prices. Fast and friendly service, will definitely be back.
This place ia great authentic fish and chips. They have about 5 types of fish including haddock, halibut, pollock and more. (Pollock is the cheapeat at just 6 or 7 bucks for a meal including fries). They also have fried shrimp and scallops. Everything is made to order so comes out hot and fresh, served in a brown paper bag for take out. Thei home made coleslaw and gravy is also definitely worth adding on. Cool time is 10- 15 mins minimum so call ahead if you want a quick pick up
Best fish and chips in Toronto. Staff are great!
The special is generous and delicious
Very good food for take out. The dining area is poorly designed, would not recommend a night out in this place. But the food is good and affordable!!
Love the pollock and chips!
Quaint little fish and chips shop. Ordered halibut and poutine for take out, which was very delicious. Didnt wait too long for my food given there was only one guy behind the counter. Definitely would stop by again
Always the same Fish N Chips. Awesome place. Old School
Excellent food the fish is cooked nicely and the service is friendly. Its a small restaurant but good to get an order and walk on a nice day. Parking is tough but you are aloud to use the police parking across the street.
Fairly priced and portioned and the food is good enough.
I ordered halibit and chips with a poutine on the side. Fish was perfectly square, as if it was from a box in the grocery store. Fries were dry. wish i could say it was a good experience
$7 gets you a huge meal 2 pieces of fish and a ton of French fries, its 2 meals for me and the staff are very nice too =) definitely going back
Now this is the real deal@ for fish and chips! Just Google their menu and you ll see this is truly a one of a kind Real British style fish and chips delicious cooked to perfection every single time they also have other things on the menu
Realy is fresh fishs
Great food...yummy
Always good
Looks suspicious from the outside but it s quickly become my go-to fish n chips spot. Service isn t all that fast though.
Great Food, Great Prices, Family business nice owner.
Good food
The food was tasty but the server was not very friendly.
Excellent quantity and quality.
I love this place
Best Fish and Chips in Toronto!
Really good and really fresh. Had the halibut and haddock. Both were good but the halibut was my favourite. Also, The fries are amazing!
Not british style at all
Mediocre food for a fair price, and might i say, lots of buckets of sauce packets, 5-10 bucjets filled with hot sauce, tartar, ketchup, and other ones. If your hungry and nearby, its a fine establishment, but dont make a day or lunch of it.
Cheap but good. Get the Pollack and Chips.
Its so greasy that I dont recommend eating inside the store. If you eat inside the store, you wont want to eat because of the smell of oil inside the store.
Best halibut size for your money in town
Great comfortable place to eat. Very traditional british style fish and chips
It was good love the fish
Best $7.95 cod+chips anywhere! :-)
Great halibut and chips at a very low price. One of the best in the city.
Nice spot food was good, will return when in area.
Fish and chips ok
Great
5 STAR SERVICE VERY STAFF
Fast service and very good food
Definitely more authentically British-style than some other Toronto chippers. Chips (fries, if you prefer) are thick-cut and greasy, as they should be. I tried the haddock: Decent sized portion for the price, but could be fresher (though this is obviously a challenge, given Torontos distance from the ocean). Pricing leans towards the expensive side for the area.
The Best Fish and chips in Toronto
Fish is a little dry
I love this place. The clam and chips is top notch!
Solid fish and chips. I would stick to the fish although they do offer shrimp, scallops, and clams.
Great food. Fast service
Really good but expensive
The Pollock has no taste and is drenched in a immense amount of oil. Chips are bland and taste God awful. Learn how to season the damn fries. Definitely not worth $5.99 and not to mention, this is the cheapest meal option. The only way you can swallow the food without gagging is to take some of the many sauces they surprisingly have. Apparently taking more than one packet will earn you a nasty look.
Small place with a well made and reasonably priced value meal. The fries are maybe the best part.
One of the best fish& chips
Good, old fashioned Fish and chips.
Great taste, great price. Definitely will eat there again.
Great value and great staff
Great
