Delicious fish, very fresh and delicate. The fries are great: made from fresh potatoes and cooked perfectly. Generous portions. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Second time at this location and very satisfied both times.

Breakfast for 5.99 its very good deal. And tasty. Every Wednesday 12.99 cod combo so its very cheaper. I like it.I love it.

I had the good fortune of going to the Halibit House last Sunday, on someones recommendation . The first impression walking in the door was good, bright and neat and tidy. Took a seat , waiter was there quickly to serve us, and friendly and smiling and well mannered, David was his name. We ordered beer and haddock and chips with a side of onion rings . The beer was brought quickly, and not too long after the meal was brought. e le Everything was hot and fresh, and fresh cut fries! Yeah. The portions were large couldnt finish it ( didnt need the onion rings) . And the price was super good!! I will recommend Halibit House to anyone!!

The fish and chips were great... I had catfish but I would never use the condiments like little plastic containers of vinegar and it was really rotten. Best to bring your own to home. I dont know if it was the little packages were old or what it was, but yuck

Had dinner with some friends last night. Was very impressed and happy we came. Our server was the most wonderful and had a great attitude. She suggested many things on menu which we would like. Nice thing is she got our drinks right away so we had time to look through menu. We had to wait a couple of minutes but it was so busy we didnt mind. I dont know how she managed, but it was so busy and she took care of her tables and I think all takeout too. Our food was excellent and our server was smiling and laughing with all the customers too. At end of our dinner we found that her name was LuAnne. Well be back more often! Halibut House great job!

It s classic fish and chips . No more no less

Homeless person came in and asked us to pay for her meal. We said no. The person had terrible body odor. She was allowed to stay because she had money to food. We ate in a rush and tried really hard not to throw up.

Service was great but I ordered Halibut but, it did not have the taste of Halibut. Not sure if it was old. Also asked for extra crispy fries which I did not get. Most likely will not return at least to that location.

As a British person who loves a lovely piece of fried fish and some chips on the seafront I have to say I love the fish and chips from halibut house. I grew up in the coast in the UK and really miss this tasty treat. Thanks for making my day really lovely.

Halibut is the only way to go. I ordered the lunch portion which was a nice option. We only went here because 5th street is closed on Mondays. Overall the fish and chips were good. The gravy and the coleslaw could be better.

Its mind-boggling they would charge $15 for a fish burger and the fish filet itself is so thin and dry. I felt robbed. I couldnt even purchase the burger on its own for less, the fries came with it but I just wanted a burger so opted to replace the food I didnt want and wasnt going to eat (fries) with this small size coleslaw. Just not worth the money, this was a sad experience.

It pains me to share this, but...if you like fish n chips, sadly, I believe our Lakeshore location is sinking. Tonight we were absolutely shocked to see how little food we get now. Dont get me wrong, I know of shinkflation, but I swear were getting 1/3 the serving size, whether it be fish portion, amount of chips, or even salad, than we ever received at the same location. When have you gotten so few chips that theyre able to hide under the fish? And, the fish was so overdone I am not exaggerating when I say it had the texture of cardboard. No coleslaw included, either. Heck, the Greek salad and fish used to fill me up. Not any more. Note small boxes next to water bottle for size comparison. We were so underwhelmed that well no longer be going there, ever again. Perhaps the empty restaurant on a weekend is a sign of how well theyre doing....

Nice big servings and friendly service. Portion size is good for price. I asked for crispy fries and they came through.

I visited today and ordered 4 daily specials. The food tasted delicious and freshly made. Our dine-in experience was excellent. Fabio was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The place was clean and organized. I highly recommend this place to friends and family. Parking: Lots of parking Kid-friendliness: My kid loved the fresh taste of the food we ate.

Ordered Cod and chips thought it was a better deal. Tasted fresh and it was definitely cod. I waited 40 min. For the waitress to give me the bill. I was gonna ask for a lemon wedge for sprite and water she was no where in sight. She gave me a bill for halibut, and I told her I ordered Cod. She argued and insisted I was lying. I told her to watch the video of me ordering,I will wait. She said forget about it,she will pay for my dinner.I said I dont need her money. I said call the police I ordered Cod and ate Cod. She ran into the kitchen and 5 minutes later an Asian lady came to me with a proper bill and apologized for the mistake.I payed cash and tipped her. I said if the waitress was more professional and honest, I would tip more. Good fresh food, lousy dishonest waitress. Only 7 people inside,3 already ate before I arrived. Halibut house should be packed on weekends. Know I know why its slow. .

To me, the quality was not there. What they advertise as a special is never what I wind up paying. I asked for a side of California vegetables which don t really look like effort was given for seasoning and the Monday Haddock special for 11.00? Now the bill is 22 and change. I also waited a long time for a lunch take out. I guess in typical fashion, these days you can t eat out around town because competition is so fierce, there is a diminished value for a basic fish and chip. If you can t keep up with your patrons, get a survey and ask them what is something they would find valuable. We are all out here trying to live and eat without BS adverts Parking: Available

I had the halibut Sun/Mon special with fries, and I absolutely enjoyed it! The portion size was very good for only $11.00, and the fish was fried to perfection and the fries were delicious too! Service was great and the place was nice and clean! Bathroom was very clean too! Highly Recommended!

I tried the shrimp, calamari and fish tacos. Everything was freshly cooked and tasted great however I would have liked to see a little more slaw on the tacos along with some sour cream or even salsa. The service was quick and the cashier was friendly. I will definitely go back and try something new

Nice place for a small fish and chips place. Polite service and got my order within 10 minutes. Fish was a little on the greasy side, almost like they didnt change their oil. The ratio of batter to fish was a little too much on the batter side for my preference. Food was ok, nothing special. But they were the only fish place I could find that was open on a Sunday and the portion size was quite large. 2 piece haddock and fries was more than enough to feed myself and my wife.

I used to go to the Halibut House for fish and chips, 4 years ago, was very satisfying. Today I went back for Halibut fish and chips, with coleslaw. The breading was thick, thin fish inside. Chips are are fried from frozen and the coleslaw was not to my liking, vinegar. Wont go back there again

Ordered haddock and poutine. Poutine was a good size portion. The haddock portion was small and extremely greasy. I love fish and chips but the fish was a no for me. Service was slow but staff was friendly and apologized for the delay.

I really like fish end ships, this place reminds me a lot of New Zealand.

My only complaint is you have to be 7 ft tall to use the urinal in the bathroom.

The batter is amazing..Light, crispy, and very delicious. I got the haddock and substituted my fries for a poutine. I would definitely come again..great food and.great service.

Very disappointed with my recent visit. My French fries were undercooked and oily. The fish was ok but again the oil just oozed out of the package and not only onto its paper wrap but also seeped through the bag as well cutting a hole in the bag due to the sucking up of all that excess oil. This is inexcusable for a business in this industry. You don t make many different things, you better do them well. Regardless, there are so many other businesses in this category that it s time to move on to someone else.

Been wanting to try this place for a while and sadly, I was a bit underwhelmed. I got it as delivery so I knew not to expect the fried foods to be crunchy but it didnt seem like the fries should have been that soft from a 10 min drive. The batter on the haddock and mushrooms was pretty bland and the tartar sauce wasnt really enough to save it. On the otherhand, the gravy was real tasty and the portions were decent. I would call it a mediocre fish and chip experience that would probably be better if eaten on location

Chips are not fresh , and so expensive for small amount of fish

First time dining at Halibut House and it did not disappoint! We got calamari and fried pickles for apps. Entree (pictured): fish tacos, fried halibut with chips & coleslaw, and fried haddock with greek salad & coleslaw. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted very fresh! The only thing that was 4/5 was probably the Greek salad (understandably). Service was also great and would definitely come again!

I called in my order to be ready giving 15 min time. When I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly staff ,my orders were ready. I ordered 3 of the Sunday Monday specials. The pieces were huge. Great value for money will definitely be back.

First time and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the breakfast special, bacon and eggs. It only came with two slices of bacon so I ordered two extra but the price was still very good. Looking forward to trying their lunch and more.

Affordable, excellent customer service and atmosphere. I was looking for a good place to eat fish & chips, and this one was a pleasant surprise. This is a gem located in Etobicoke. The dishes are well served. The fries and fish are amazing.

If youre like me and DISLIKE the classic BEER BATTERED fish and chips, youll love Halibut house. The breading on the filet is thin and crispy, the fries are hearty and delicious, and I love the tartar sauce. Go on Sunday or Monday for a haddock special. Highly recommend!

One of the best Fish n Chips ever

I visited on 01 December 2023 for take out and ordered 2x haddock dinners that came to $36.05. When I got home, Bloor West and The Westmall area, my mom opened the delivery bag and noticed there was no coleslaw and the boxes seemed small. She was right, the fries and fish were both in the same box. The amount of fries is less and soggy and there is no coleslaw. The restaurant was contacted and was told that coleslaw is only for clients that dine-in. Yet they charge you the same price as dine-in and give you less. The fish and fries should be in separate containers and give you coleslaw if being charged the same price. I have noticed that in Halibut Houses that I have dined-in and done take-out, it is always the same issue. Take-out should cost less due to the small portion and no coleslaw. If I were to put this portion on their plate, I guarantee you that the size would be different from the dine-in portion. For $36.05, I could have bought a large size pizza or 2x breakfast at A&W or gone to any other restaurant and still have had extra money to buy more food the next day. For this reason, DO NOT DO TAKE OUT, your being robbed from Halibut Houses.

Overpriced for its quality

Great food. Halibut is expensive (but is on par with anywhere alse). Their fish is very meaty and not over battered to hide the absence of fish like some other fish joints.

Since February of this year, this has become my favorite place to frequent. The service is remarkable, food both breakfast and lunch is amazing and the place is CLEAN, quiet and has good people both going there and serving! I highly recommend this for people who want a quiet chill place to eat

My wife and I went for a late lunch on a Sunday, and we both ordered their Sunday special - what else? Prices are reasonable, portions are decent, the service is good and quality is average. Even though the restaurant was not busy, our fish and chips arrived warm - not hot. The fish batter was on the heavy side - not as light and crisp as I would have preferred. The fries, however, were perfect (aside from being warm and not hot ). If youre in the area, its certainly worth a try.

We went here on Sunday as we needed fish & Chips and they were the only place open. Ordered by phone and when they told me the price I almost cancelled the order but my daughter had her heart set on Fish & Chips. Ordered 1 piece of fish with fries, 1 piece of fish with poutine, 1 small cole slaw and 2 ginger ales and it came to $57.00. We picked up our order and when we got home they had forgotten to include the ginger ales. Food was very greasy and sub par at best. Wont be eating here again.

food quality is good. staffs are kind and free parking is available. surprisingly their food is not oily at all. this is not an upscale fish and chips resturant, every thing is super basic, the atmosphere and decorations remind you of late 90s era. over all this will be one of those restaurants that i will visit occasionally every now and then.

Pictured here is the regular halibut and chips - there s actually 2 pieces of fish (the other one is hiding beneath). The halibut was perfectly breaded (not thick), super light and flaky. It was actually quite filling! If you dine-in you get coleslaw with the order. They have a lunch-sized portion which I ll likely order next time since honestly, it was a lot to finish! There s free parking in the lot next to the building if you need. Pleasantly surprised with this spot! Def check it out if you need your fish and chips fix.

Terrible customer service. We ordered one fish and chips and one grilled halibut. It took 15 mins to get our coffee and when the meal came, the grilled halibut came alone on a plate, dry & uneatable. The French fries were old and dry, also uneatable. Our server never came to ask how we were doing and how the meal was and when we asked for the bill it took 15 mins and we complained about the dry fish and her answer nothing I can do we will never go back.

Told us we can t dine in. An Asian couple came in after us, spoke with the Asian workers and they were allowed to dine in. When we asked why they said those people are family... We took the food to go and the box was dripping in grease, soggy fries, no utensils or napkins. Used to be a regular here, not anymore.

Lack of Quality, could be due to being Busiest day of the year? However 1st time experience was very poor, stood in line, placed & Paid for order, told to pick up in 2 hours, we went back 1 3/4 hours, our food was sitting bagged on a table with other orders, No condiments in bag, Quantity was huge, Quality was very poor, the Halibut could have been anything, it was very Dry & Rubbery, with a few splashes of batter here & there, the expression You get what you pay for did not apply here, Sorry, we were all Very disappointed.

Not up to my expectations, ordered halibut and chips which was bland, chips did not taste fresh. Ordered coleslaw on the side which also had no flavour and not enough dressing. Wife ordered scallops and salad, and scallops were tough. Go somewhere else for fish and chips.

I ordered cod and chips. The chips were good. But the fish was soggy with oil. Eating the batter was unpleasant as it would leak out low grade frying oil. This has been the second time this has happened. Not sure this is the best fish n chips.

We gave him two orders on Saturday he was going to close almost he charged us fifty rupees one he didnt give good service neither he gave good quantity very small quantity of fish and one was not good quality because it was stale. And there was rotten kind of fish that he gave so I urge you guys that this is giving a bad name to the company and it is giving at all.

I bought one order of Sunday promotion, fish and chips and one order of calamari, and I was not able to eat it, firstly because is flooded in oil, and the flavor is like burned oil, so the fish and chips taste sour, I cant even explain the weird flavor, calamari now Im kinda scared to try it because Im expecting the same flavor But to be honest was my first time trying this place, and after this, I dont recommend this place.!

Featured recently in Toronto newspaper I figured Id give it a try. Single portion halibut, no fries and asked for double cole slaw was a bit pricey at almost $17 (with tax)....and I only got one container of slaw. Halibut was nice and lightly battered and a generous portion but I would compare this with other F&C restaurants in the area.

The very first time we ordered the 5-piece takeut special, the halibut was quite good. However, we tried it again a couple of times and we were a bit disappointed. Last time, 3 pieces were ok, but 2 pieces were mostly batter, the fish fillet was thin and very tough.

The portions are large and satisfying and the staff is amazing this ls m mom and I second time there and we qwill be back for sure.
