Classic French fare & wines, with many by the glass, served in a cozy, charming dining room.
Such a small and cozy space! Really enjoyed coming here for an early dinner and having the place and the staff to ourselves for a little bit. Our host was lovely and i enjoy how the space is decorated. Very much enjoyed the food and the drinks.
Authentic French cuisine. Beautiful restaurant. I had the duck meat and the smell was out of this world when the server put the plate down. Chefs kiss! 👏🏻👏🏻
Really amazing food. Great service. Definitely will go back.
This place is a gem in Queen East. Everything we ordered was outstanding. Forgot to take a picture of the food, but we had la salade de Greta and stake frites. Both were delicious!Salade petite bijou also looked really good. (ordering it next time) Definitely coming back and highly recommended!
Where has this restaurant been all my life??? Such a lovely place to dine.. atmosphere was so cozy, food was absolutely incredible, and the staff was nothing short of perfect. We had a wonderful dinner service there last night, and was confused with the comments made by people who rated this place a 1 star, and complained about bad service. No truth to those statements at all. We had 2 ladies working last night's shift, and handled a full restaurant with ease. And without exagerration, they are so good with the service, that even when I stepped away from the table to use the facilities, one of the ladies came over and even folded my napkin back to presentable status. Looking forward to coming back during the spring, summer or fall season in hopes of any changes/addition to the menu. Highly recommended... To make your dining easier, I recommend to book reservations. They will even personalize your reservation for you by placing your name on the assigned table. Ordered: 1. Chicken liver paté - YUM! 2. Beef tartar with quail - OMG! 3. Cod main with veggie - Stomach grumbling 4. Steak frites (bavette) with ridiculously yummy fries cooked in DUCK FAT??!! - Im not even going to mention the aioli sauce, cuz im getting hungry again 5. Ending with Creme Brulee - perfect dessert to end our dinner.
TLDR. Food was excellent, service was not only lacking but just plain rude. -- This used to be one of my favourite spots in Leslieville. The food was outstanding but, after our recent visit, all we could focus on after that dinner and the next morning was the awful service we received. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we experienced questionable hospitality. The owner had asked whether we would like to keep coats to be kept at the table or hung elsewhere. I made a comment that we could keep our coats on the extra chair, given that were at a table of 4 and there were 3 of us. She replied in a passive-aggressive way about it being fine if we wanted our coats stepped over during the evening. I was taken aback but didn't want to overthink it at the start of the night. The ongoing poor service continued when the server was taking our order and with several instances during the evening when we ordered extra drinks. The lasting impression was at the end when it came time to pay the bill. When the server came by to give us the bill, she leaned into the person we were treating to dinner. I let her know that I was the one paying for the bill and to bring the bill and machine over to me. She looked at me outraged that I wanted to stop her from reading the bill including the amount to the whole table and proceeded to go over the bill as if to prove a point. I have never had a bill read to the entire table before. Most of all, I didn't appreciate that she wasn't sensitive to my request. I'm not sure I want to go back no matter how good the food was.
Outstanding little restaurant! The space is incredibly small and intimate, and the food and service is amazing. We booked spontaneous as we were craving classic French and we are SO glad we did. Everything was 10/10. Highly recommend!
This is a French restaurant that does not cater to vegans. If you are vegan stay the heck away from this place. They don’t accommodate anyone or anything. But this is French cuisine after all. So, atmosphere is amazing and cozy. Great for date night or hanging out with friends. The service is good and attentive. The servers are good and they know the menu very well. The food was also very good according to my non-vegan friends. They get 4 stars because of poor accessibility and for not being accommodating to people with special dietary requirements. Also the drinks were not as good as they used to be according to regulars.
Greta Solomons is a treasure that Toronto is so lucky have! A friend and I went this week for a holiday celebration and sat at the bar and shared oysters, a lovely bottle of champagne, and what might be the Citys best steak tartare. Gretas is upscale but not pretentious and incredibly cozy. The vibes and the playlist were immaculate. Im already looking forward to my next visit. 5 stars each for food, atmosphere, and service as it doesnt seem to register.
Great atmosphere, service and delicious food. We will be back.
Very pleasant meal
Small portions. Expensive for what you get. Nice atmosphere. Nice staff.
This is an exceptional place! Each item on the menu thoughtfully curated. Well be coming back
The food is good but not outstanding for a French restaurant.
Food was amazing! Service was outstanding! I would highly recommend this beautiful spot!!
Absolute gem in Toronto! We can t get enough of this place. Delicious food, great wine, fantastic service. Highly recommend. The duck fat fries are a must-order!!
I was in Toronto for a few days walking through Leslieville and stumbled across Greta Solomon s a cool intimate French restaurant. It was exactly what I needed a glass of Bordeaux and a 6 oz steak (cooked to perfection) e frites! I ll be coming again
Wonderful little spot in Toronto. The food was excellent
Excellent service, food, and atmosphere.
Have never been asked to move tables. Server told us we had to move to another table at about 1:45 into our reservation, because they had a table of 6 coming in, and reminded us of our two hour dining limit. No where on the open table s website nor any of the reminders we were sent, was any sort of a time limit imposed. Very cramped. Steak frites excellent but small portion. Foies gras bland as was steak tartare. Will not be returning.
Just a lovely spot at liberty village. I love the vibe in this place. The cocktails, The Cheese tray Nice for warm evenings in Toronto and a In my heart Vegetarian options: Beet Salad
Lovely intimate place and nice character. Flora the server was lovely too. Servings are very small. Food quality is varied. The duck was excellent. Steaks were tiny and we werent asked how we preferred them done. The fries did not have any flavour of duck fat. The arctic char was tough, dry and not nice at all. The strawberry ice cream and the creme brule were excellent. The wine selection was also good. However, For 6 people including 3 teenagers the bill at $480 was shockingly high. The place is not run by French chefs and had a ton of attitude, specially from the owner. Dont think we will be going back
Oh Greta! You were underwhelming We were excited, we were celebrating (a birthday and an anniversary) but definitely needs improvement: + Four feature dishes were unavailable + The Arctic char was sour (!!!) and bean base was under cooked + Steak frites, very mid. + The back patio was like real dark. Bring a flashlight. + Sliced bread and butter for $7? That should be complimentary + The saving grace: good server and good Prosecco. They comp d the bad fish and a round of drinks. Thanks.
Lovely little Leslieville gem. Pleasant dining experience, great french food, relaxed atmosphere, and good service. Would love to return. My one small bit of criticism would be that they didnt serve nearly enough bread and crostini for the pâté and tartare and we had to ask for more of both. Obviously, this was no big deal.
THE restaurant to be in the East end! My partner and I had the most fantastic experience at this establishment. The food was extremely flavourful, cocktails were unique and tasty, and we were in awe at the worldly wine list. Lastly, the service was impeccable. The owner, Darlene, pours her heart into this place and it shows. Can t wait to come back!
Fun space, good amount of games and nice drink menu (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Staff were very nice!
Amazing, truly amazing dishes, and some ciders for accompaniment that you probably cant get anywhere else in Canada!
Shhhhh! This is an east end hidden gem Incredible hospitality in this quaint little restaurant. Charming, romantic yet fun and light. Perfectly seasoned but also the right portions for every delectable course we tried. The petit bijou salad was especially delicious at this petit bijou restaurant
Helena was the best help ever, I lost my phone and she helped me find it and had the best attitude, I ll be coming back just because of her excellent service!! Daniel was also so helpful, the service made my night, Thanks again!!!
Disappointing. Had the pate, which was served straight out of fridge. Duck breast dish was bland, and the steak was super small. About the only thing I can recommend here is the garlic aioli. Wont be back.
Once again, Greta Solomon s does not disappoint! As per usual, the food, service and atmosphere were top notch! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Brought my mother here for her 75th and we were all so impressed. The service was attentive and kind, the food excellent (we all had the prix fixe menu) and vibe perfect. Thank you for a lovely celebratory evening!
Great space and amazing food. Highly recommend
Very surprised to see a 4.8, service was rude and unprofessional, the head server was dismissive of my date and I. The food matched the service, we got the bread, cheese, tartare and duck; all were poor, small and bland. We both felt like the head waitress had it out for us from the minute we entered. The tartare tasted like nothing and was very small, the duck was cooked well but served on lentils that didn t go with the duck. FYI. Most of the good reviews are dated (something I noticed after the fact). I never write reviews but this deserved it.
A little bit over rated to be completely honest. The food was good (Nothing poor but nothing memorable). The service was friendly but rushed (one server for the entire restaurant on a Friday night). The atmosphere is cozy but a little bit too tight (We had to slide our table to leave and come back from the washroom, and were not large people).
My sister and I enjoyed an outstanding meal tonight. Each course was excellent. The service was prompt and friendly. The ambience relaxing and casual. Loved every aspect of the evening. Cant wait to return!
I had the coq au Vin and my husband had the Gretalicious special. The chicken was succulent but scarce on the plate. It consisted of one very small chicken thigh and curiously a few cubes of potato, pieces of carrot and a big hunk of baguette (not in fact Julia Childs take on the dish if you read her recipe from Mastering the Art of French Cooking). Given the extensive and expensive wine list Im wondering why the restaurant chose to cheap out on the dish ($35 to my mind is over-priced for what came to the table) when typically restaurants make their profits from wine/drinks (we did have a bottle of Bordeaux). All in all a pleasant dinner but underwhelming. Service was very good but the music was on the loud side. Desserts were tiny. Im not a fan of restaurants that serve really big portions but Greta needs to find the sweet spot between too big and too small and looking stingy.
Remarkable little dining spot! The intimate space creates a cozy atmosphere, and both the food and service are truly impressive.
very good. Delicious food, friendly waiters. There are not many dishes, I hope there will be more. The recommended wines are also very good. Happy
Sorely disappointing. To start, we were seated by the entrance. People coming in and out kept brushing against me. Some even left the door open and I had to get up from my chair to close it. I cannot imagine why they would ever think that its okay to place a table there in good conscience. The salad was bland but it was the best dish we had that evening. The paté was bitter and came with two small slices of bread. The tartare was sinewy and also came with two small slices of bread. The service was mostly absent and inattentive. It was as if what we told her would go through one ear and out the other. I do not recommend. There are better restaurants simply across the street.
Wonderful French restaurant with delicious food and cozy atmosphere. Favourite spot for date night!
Love the steak
Horrible customer service experience. Charged $50 for cancelling a reservation in advance.
Loved the food and the staff, but the restaurant was fairly crammed with tables and people. Looking forward to the patio in the summer!
Excellent food and service. A teeny bit cramped but thats ok. It made it more cozy. Very impressed with the steak frites. Also a great selection of gin and proper tonic. Not easy to find. Wiill be back soon!
Going to Greta Solomons was a phenomenal experience. One of the best meals Ive has in a while. My boyfriend and I split everything, which I highly recommend doing. We got the French Cheese (which comes with honey and crostinis), Salade Cauchoise, Galette de champignons, Cotes Courtes, and the Petit Fours for dessert. Everything was incredible and the atmosphere is cozy and elegant. Its a small place so I think it books up pretty fast. If you have a chance, check this place out.
Nice evening here. Food was good, but did not meet the expectations a 4.8 star rating led me to believe. Service was smooth, not intrusive. Music a shade loud. Dessert selections limited. Felt rushed to leave when the server handed us our coats when it was obvious we were still chatting.
My absolute favourite restaurant. No one else offers the combination of wonderful food, utterly charming yet professional service, in such a comfortable and welcoming room. I cant wait to return.
Excellent meal. Highly recommend the celeriac with anchovy dressing if its on the menu. Lots of options for wine by the glass and a gin menu that is well priced.
We have always had a great experience dining at the bar! We love the intimate setting and great food. We were trying to bring a guest with us tomorrow, but when we called to reserve over the phone this time, we were asked to provide our credt card details. Where is this information being stored? We have never been asked for c.c. details over the phone to book at the bar before, and we were disappointed. Otherwise, we have always had a lovely time.
Great little bistro, food is amazing and the people working there are great. Definitely I need to go back
Great atmosphere, great experience, good was amazing, would highly recommend.
DELICIOUS! Highly recommend!
A wonderful, intimate restaurant with amazing food and the friendliest staff. An imaginative, seasonal, local menu. Will definitely be back for more.
Amazing place to bring the Mrs
The BEST restaurant in the east end! Ive been many times - for work dinners, for dates, for girls night, for birthdays, for events, etc. The food is always excellent, the wine collection is wonderful, and the service is fantastic. Im so impressed by the owner, Darlene - through the pandemic and all other challenges, she has kept this place consistently wonderful - an upscale gourmet gem!
Amazing staff, really knew their wines and cocktails. Food was excellent
All round fantastic experience. Amazing service, premium menu, deep wine list (including non-alcoholic options you don t see elsewhere) and the coziest atmosphere.
Excellent service. Excellent meal.
Great dinner. Appetizers were shared with my friend; we enjoyed the scallops, escargot, and tartare. Duck main was amazing! House gin and tonic was also very enjoyable. Overall a very nice night out!
1st time at Greta Solomons. What a wonderful time. From the other pelple waiting either to be served or talkmg during their meal. To the owner, waitress then the food was out of this world . My wife had bou bas rated 5 stsr, my lamb was a 5 star, our friends had duck 5 stars.was5 paired for our dinner caped of with a cheese. What a place, highly recommrnded by the 4 of us. It would be safe to say a hidden treasure Blake Bell L E
This place is an exquisite escape into a world of heavenly pleasures. Each dish, divine. My mind was blown by the delights that come from such a tiny tiny kitchen. It speaks to the detailed thought that goes into the preparation and care prior. This place is A MUST GO. The staff, the owner, the details...just so lovely. I have had the joy of dining at many many establishments world wide and this place is magical.
Food was decently flavored. Unfortunately Luke warm. Escargot was meh and mains were all tepid.
Greta Solomon s was a delightful Sunday night dinner with my date. Service was incredibly warm and inviting from beginning to end. Their pate and caviar blinis were a decadent start to our dinner and I found my eyelids involuntarily closing after each bite. Entree portions were pleasantly generous and despite opting for a lighter protein I found myself full in the best way. My date had the duck and the single bite I had of that did not disappoint; it was a rich and beautifully textured! I need to return to partake in their dessert offerings next time. As a long time Instagram follower of theirs, the experience did not disappoint and I cannot wait to find an occasion to go back.
Brought my family there for my wife s birthday. I ve had a lot of french cuisine and thought to give this place a try showing 4.8 stars reviews, definitely disappointing. The salad was over powering with plain vinegar, my beer was room temperature, needed ice in my glass to drink with it. Steak frites was very heavily salted, the steak tartare seems pre-made and was heavily salted as well. The only items that didnt disappoint us was the sourdough bread and oysters. You cant mess up oysters. Anyhow, with all the disappointment We didn t want stay for dessert which i had planned for a candle lit birthday wish. I am surprised they didn t even bother talking us or asking feedback about our dinner service, especially they can sense it after sending back one of the steak tartare. Maybe they cater to the locals that prefer a lot of salt?? The chef needs to try the food himself before sending it out or maybe it was one of those off days? However, the atmosphere is quite nice.
One of my favourite restaurants in the city hands down! Great food, attentive service and exceptional atmosphere. Perfect for a special occasion or hidden patio cocktails. I m always coming back to see what new and delicious dishes are on the menu.
Randomly found this place without a reservation and the staff was very nice and welcoming. The food was delicious, great wine & very beautiful atmosphere. Perfect for a date night! Parking: We easily found paid parking available on Queen St.
I had the best bone marrow of my life here. Amazing vibe and great staff
Everything was super!!
The bone marrow and decadent fromage selection was to die for!
Absolutely fantastic dinning experience, true French food. Outstanding wine selection!
We eat at a lot of french restaurants around the city .. The food was average the wine recommendation was terrible ... We asked for a full bodied red wine ... The wine we received was a light weak red that did not accompany anything we were eating ... Also to charge for extra pieces of bread (3 small pieces) is just downright cheap for an establishment of this stature at the very least let customers know theres a surcharge for extra bread and not just add it to the bill very disappointing experience for these two reasons
Amazing hidden gem (almost don t want to let others know) but - it s so good we just have to let others know. You won t be disappointed.
The perfect date night / birthday / special occasion spot. Food is amazing - the bourguignon was melt in your mouth tender. Will definitely be back
Impeccable service, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and absolutely delicious food. We went for my birthday and the atmosphere and variety of food and wine made for an incredible experience. Thank you!
Great French inspired food, cocktails and wine. Charming ambience, very attentive service.
Tasty food
This was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Friendly atmosphere, great food and delicious cocktails. My favourite was the chicken liver mouse but all dishes were fantastic (onion soup, steak and the gnocchis). Reservation needed if you go on the weekend. It was busy.
Incredible experience from start to finish. I highly recommend!!
Simply delicious. Great service and lovely atmosphere.
When you walk in the doors at Greta Solomons, you immediately feel a warm and welcoming environment. The staff are all so friendly and genuinely seem happy to see you. The wine list is great with so many options to choose from, and the food is absolutely spot on. If the crispy duck leg with maple gastrique is on the menu, get it! One of the best dishes Ive had in a long time...!
Stunning small bistro with that somehow improves upon some tried and true classic French dishes. First of all, their French onion soup and duck confit are probably the best I ve ever had. The soup used croutons baked in duck fat and a combination of duck and beef stock as opposed to just traditionally beef. It is executed to perfection, with half of the crouton still crispy and smothered in Gruyère while the bottom side is soaked with the incredible soup. The duck confit is taken to another level by battering it and deep frying it in duck fat, then glazing it with maple. It s a twist that you wouldn t expect and it s spectacular. The lentils it rests on are ridiculously flavourful and helps to cut some of the richness of the duck. This is a must order. By the time we got the gnocchi, we were reasonably full but it too, is spectacular- pan fried, unbelievably soft, and resting on a velvety cream sauce with toasted pine nuts for texture. The salad is a welcome break from all the richness and the escargots were excellent as well. Their wine menu is comprehensive to say the least and all quite reasonably priced actually. They also have a bottle shop that you can drop in to just pick up bottles without dining in. We dined in on a night where all proceeds went to the Ukrainian Red Cross, which is quite an admirable initiative by the team here. Service was super friendly, attentive, and really we couldn t ask for a better dining experience. One word of warning is that the space is quite small and the dining room can seem a bit cramped. For two, we dined at the bar which might be the better option.
Amazing ! Great Service Food & Atmosphere... I will definitely be back. Tried the Pain et Beurre, Salad Petite Bijou,Steak Frites & Creme Brulee All were Perfect ... 5 STARS
Greta Solomon s is one of the most sweet little jewel boxes of a restaurant in Toronto. It s very French and makes no apologies for this, nor should it. Under the helm of chef Matt Cowan the food, always delicious has if possible upper the ante. Everything was perfectly presented by great staff, wine on point. Back to the food, huge flavours bursting with the best ingredients. Perfect portion sizes and every hot hot and cold cold. If you go with 4 you can actually eat the entire menu and I can t wait to do this. I can t wait to return. Please follow @joannasable on instagram
First time back at Greta s in a couple of years and wow! Food was absolutely amazing, wine and drinks selection was extensive and unique and service was bang on. One of the best meals we ve had in recent months and that s saying a lot! Congrats to the team there for coming back so strong!
What an absolute gem of a place! I ve been wanting to visit this cozy restaurant for sometime and I can say with absolute conviction that it was well worth the wait! Darlene and the rest of her staff are down to earth and made quite a lasting impression. We had a few appetizers; the chicken liver pate, the escargot, and olives. Lucky there was left over bread from the escargots to help us finish the very generous portion of the pate! For the main, we had the duck confit and poached cod. The duck may be one of the best I ve had outside of France! We were in a bit of a hurry and didn t get a chance to try the desserts but we ll definitely be back to rectify that!
This place is such a gem! Every time we come here, it feels like were transported to a little restaurant in France. The service is warm and friendly, the wine list is amazing and, hot damn, the food is SOLID! What a truly wonderful spot that we are so lucky to have down the street from us :)
Quaint French bistro, amazing service, good food. Came here for dinner and got: - Housemade bread and cultured butter: Bread was soft and pillowy, butter was nondescript. - Escargot: Probably my favourite dish of the whole meal. I love how the escargot was wrapped in veggies, and how strong the garlic butter tasre was. - Steak Frites: Steak was pretty good but unremarkable. Fries were on the salty side. - Poached Cod: Delicately cooked, sublime flavours, decent size. A winner of a dish. - Fromage: One of the best soft cheeses Ive had, perfectly paired with a blueberry compote. - Pot de Creme: Soft biscuit, creme, strawberries, meringue. A bit too sweet, but how can you not like that? If youre in the mood for an upscale casual dinner, this is the place for you.
Came here with a girlfriend and we had an amazing meal and evening. The decor is so cozy, we loved the exposed bricks of the interior. The chicken liver pate was so rich, velvety, and paired beautifully with a sweet compote. But the star of the night had to be the duck leg- sous vidé perfection. When we bit into the perfectly crispy skin into juicy and succulent meat our minds were blown. And the strawberry dessert was a beautiful ending. This might be my new fave restaurant in TO! Thanks Greta I will see you again soon!
Lovey bistro. An intimate, cozy setting with delicious small menu. The wine list is extensive and includes various price ranges. Can t wait to be back!
Great service and delicious food.
I always noticed this restaurant passing by on the Queen streetcar and finally had a chance to come in for dinner. The atmosphere inside was very cozy and elegant. Staff were super attentive and friendly even when the dining room was completely full. The food was excellent - kudos to the chef for developing such complex yet fresh flavours in each course without ever being overpowering. I m looking forward to being back and sitting on the patio next time!
Nice ambiance! Patio was super cozy. Especially if you can book the back one. Food was good, but very small plates. Presentation was lovely and service was awesome!
We tried the steak frites, cuisse de canard and the beets salad. All really amazing and the as a highlight, the duck was heaven!!! Nice and crispy in the outside and delicious in the inside. We tried their dessert which I didnt get the name but it had creme and fruits and tiny biscuits inside and it was so good that we had to go get a second one definitely hitting the gym today! Thanks Greta Solomons.
A very unique and boutique restaurant. I enjoy taking friends there.
French bistro at its finest. Truly the small size of this restaurant and unique décor really transports you to a lovely French bistro that you would find tucked away on a Parisian street. But dont let size fool you as food and drinks both pack a punch. Chips with caviar? Yes of course why would you ever eat chips any other way. We also had the chicken liver pate topped with a rhubarb relish to start which was nothing short of delicious. For dinner we had the duck and gnocchi. The gnocchi were easily the best Ive ever had and thats saying a lot given that we frequent many Italian restaurants. Dont be deceived by the portions, they may seem a tad smaller but again size matters not when it comes to Greta Solomons.
Escargot and poached cod are winners. Excellent service. Dinner for two was about $150.
Small but with a little lot of character. Very good french themed menu (the cod was delicious). Unfortunately they were short staffed so the service was off but the staff were hustling. Will definitely give it another try - soon.
Im a French cook, and Ive tried a lot of french restaurant in Toronto and Ive always been disappoint but this place is really the best typical french restaurant you can find in town Thank you for the meal
Absolutely divine spot filled with atmosphere in a quaint neighbourhood. The French cuisine was delicious and the wine bottles very reasonably priced. Very friendly and welcoming staff. I had the fried duck confit and my husband had the steak and frites. Will definitely return.
Amazing little restaurant with wonderful service and even better food! The escargot are divine. Quaint, cozy and refined!
Its basically perfect from start to finish.
I went to get dinner at there patio (in the street) the fromage was delicious and the strip loin was tasty BUT there were not frites they came with fries . Disappointed if that and no explanation!
Greta s is my go-to for any special occasion, or when I just want to treat myself to amazing food, a stellar wine list, and all round good vibe. This place is a gem.
I personally have only been 1 time but the Staff were absolutely the Best..The restaurant was very clean and Joyful The Owner Darlene is Absolutely Wonderful I will be back and Please if you haven t been It s the Best in the Neighborhood..
Wonderful neighbourhood restaurant with great menu and wine list. Greta s pays attention to the little details. It s a special place to treat yourself for special occasions AND just because.
This place is wonderful, the atmosphere is perfection and the food is delicious. Great date spot or place to celebrate an occasion!
One of Leslievilles best! Hight recommended!
love this place
This place is sweet! Cant wait to go back once they return. Sometimes we all need a little break to refocus and bring back the magic!
Love this local restaurant. Delicious bistro faire!
A neighbourhood gem.
Honestly one of the best places to eat with the staff and owner who give their all for your experience. Although my reservation got canceled 2 days before, I am very understanding of the situation and I pray that they find a chef and re-open as planned. I will gladly make this a dinner spot for years to come. Thanks you Greta Solomons.
This little gem never disappoints! Fantastic food. Great team. Awesome vibe!
This place is as true Lesliville gem
Amazing food and staff! Highly recommend.
A wonderful French restaurant with delicious food and caring and attentive staff. Would highly recommend!
This was one of my go to pre covid. We did take out during covid and it was just as good. Leslieville is lucky to have them in our area. The food is outstanding, the ambiance is great but its the staff and owners that make this place special. We used to come with our 5yr old. They always made him great food, joked with him while giving my wife and I a nice, homey, wonderful meals. Ive never had a bad dish here. Never a bad experience. Recently heard they had to shut down for a few weeks as theyre dealing with some staffing issues like all restaurants in the city. Be kind, be accommodating but more importantly, go here when they open up. Its worth every penny. Your taste buds will thank you!
Leslieville has many 5 star restaurants and Greta Solomons is one of them. A real Gem
Celebrated a birthday with girlfriends and it was lovely. Food. Service. All of it. Can t wait to go back.
Amazing food and service. We had such a great time sitting on the patio in the front. Definitely will be back. One of our new favourites in the city!!
We celebrated a few of our anniversaries at this special place. The food is always incredible, the ambience is perfect and the service is stellar. Thank you for all you do for our neighborhood!
Great food and service! Came here for my birthday and it didnt dissapoint.
Absolutely delicious with wonderful staff and a caring and genuine owner.
Have celebrated so many birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events. One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto!
First of all a 2 star review was given to this amazing restaurant by some self-serving Bint. Things happen in businesses. Not everything goes well. The restaurant went through a traumatic few weeks and lost their chef. The owner was stuck and had to cancel reservations. She feels heartsick about this. But to slap someone in the face because you didnt get your whiny way and they are going through a bad time. Shame on you!!! This is an amazing place to dine. Give it some time to get back up to speed. Greta Solomons in Leslieville. One of my favourite little Jewels to dine at.
Amazing place !!
Greta Solomon s is an absolute gem. Fantastic French fare and wine selection for special occasions. The atmosphere inside is almost as warm as the people who work there. Their patio in the summer always looks amazing. 100/10 recommend!
I ve been here countless times and continue to recommend it to many people. Recently I had a reservation for 4 that was booked far in advance but due to staff changes, GS was unable to honour our reservation. This restaurant is so big in heart and attention to quality that they would rather sacrifice a booking than deliver a sub-par experience. It s evident that the owner is caring of the moments we spend at GS and that is something that is rare these days where staff shortages and rising food costs are edging restaurant owners towards compromising their integrity. Everything you ll have at Greta Solomon s is top notch and mindfully crafted. I cannot wait for my next visit.
Incredible staff and restaurant! A staple in East End Toronto. The atmosphere, the food, the service, EVERYTHING is outstanding making for the most amazing dining experience. You wont be disappointed
I live in the neighbourhood and have been to Gretas a few times. Each time, I have been delighted to be there: the service is welcoming and the food is fabulous. I cant wait to go back!
Excellent Restaurant. Not only the best in the east end but one of the best in the city.
Great local restaurant with charming interior, well curated menu and friendly staff. Love their meals and have also popped in to grab jarred pickles goods (the beets- yum!), cocktails to-go, and bottles of French wine. Definitely recommend!
Great place!
Lovely owner and great neighbourhood gem!!
I ve been going here for years. It s a little gem! Fantastic French food! Great vibe, friendly staff. It s always busy for a reason!
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Leslieville. The food is delicious and the service is great, you can t really ask for more. This is a neighbourhood staple, and a very popular spot so definitely make reservation when possible but it s always worth trying for a walk-in. Parking: Paid street parking on queen street. Most side streets require a permit after midnight so they re an option too.
A delightful spot for a delicious meal. Tiny and romantic with an outstanding wine list. The best part about this place is the incredible care the staff and owner take of each person who passes their door. They treat everyone like family and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. The restaurant biz is hard and has been harder still the last couple years. Darlene and her team have done so much to keep going in the most difficult of circumstances. Thank you for making our neighborhood a little nicer and for always ensuring the most outstanding dining experience for all who enter your establishment.
Such a great spot.
Amazing food and service. Strongly recommend.
Greta Solomon s is consistently outstanding. From incredible food, to a cozy environment to excellent service, this Leslieville gem is one of the restaurants I most recommend.
Our favourite neighborhood restaurant. First class food and service. It never disappoints but always exceeds expectations.
Wow. This looks like an awesome restaurant! I cant wait for them to re open so I can dig my teeth in some of those delicious dishes! The menu looks amazing!
Greta s is an absolute gem! The food is outstanding. The service is exceptional. The atmosphere is warm and wonderful. As a local or destination spot, it s perfect for date night or dinner with friends. I d give it 6 stars if I could!
A set of staff that clearly work hard and are passionate about the restaurant! Once I m back in the city, I can t wait to go again!
Looking forward to making this a regular spot for dinner!
Gretas is truly a gem. My wife and I had a great Saturday night dinner here. The atmosphere is low key making it feel like it is your secret neighborhood spot. The menu is small, but great. Everything we had was well executed and nothing felt rushed. The wine selection was well curated and wasnt just whatever LCBO has in the vintages section. Highly recommend
I ve had some of the most delightful and incredibly delicious nights at Greta s from girls night to date night. However you roll they will make your evening 5-star. Greta s is a special spot in Leslieville. If you re lucky to have the owner serve you you re in for quite a treat!
My Girlfriend came across an Instagram post featuring a fantastic looking gnocchi dish that she had to try. We made a plan to check the spot out on a Tuesday. We called to make a reso, but got no answer, only a voicemail saying to make resos online. We came across multiple times on open table so we decided to just head down seeing that it was a Tuesday and probably a bit slower. When we arrived, we noticed a sign in the window saying that they are taking time off and will be closed. We travelled all the way from Mississauga. Why are you posting dishes on your Instagram just a day before and not putting any posts saying you re closed. Why does google say you re open and why does open table still allow you to make reservations. Absolutely unacceptable.
Amazing spot! Atmosphere is great, Food is delicious, and dont hesitate to splurge on the wine! Only losing 1 star because they cram the seats in (We basically sat beside the door and often had people standing at our table) and the portions are a bit small. My wife found it okay, but I left ready for a snack.
An absolute must visit, hidden gem of Torontos exquisite fine dining, which lately is not so hidden, as good word got around quickly. Place has limited seating (30), so plan ahead and book reservations. Last time I was there, there was line of people paitently waiting to come in. Quality of food cannot be easily explained in words, you just need to come, enjoy and indulge. The closest I can try is, everything is literally melting in your mouth, while you can taste every bit of fine ingredients. Chefs come with high profile coolinary pedigrees and it shows, one bite at a time, no matter what you ordered. Menu changes relatively frequently, every couple of months or similar, which makes you keep coming back for more to try everything out. Did I mention the wine list? Well, its 150 names long, so there is a pretty good chance folks will find something for everyone, including even most peculiar wine lovers. Service was beyond friendly and all requests fulfilled in a blink of an eye, with a precious smile, of course. Atmosphere and art, decor are superb as well, all accompanied by discrete sounds of music by Edith Piaf, Nina Simone, Cesaria Evora and others. If you close the eyes for a second, you can easily imagine youre in middle of Monmartre in Paris! Perfect charming cozy place for romantic night out, special occasions, or Family gatherings of all kinds. You just cannot miss this place during your visit to Toronto! Once in a while critics desire to assign 6 stars to a place they were especially charmed with. Well, for me, this is that moment... And Im certain that Greta Solomon is smiling from heavens seeing what her daughter has accomplished!
The food, service, and atmosphere is flawless. One of the best restaurants in Toronto
Yum! What a great place to enjoy a delicious meal! Book ahead! There is not a lot of seating here. Service was impeccable! A must try if youre in the neighborhood.
Fantastic experience! All of the staff were friendly and the ambiance was really inviting. Every dish was intriguing and absolutely delicious! A great first experience for me with French cuisine.
Managed to get a patio spot just after things opened (again). So happy to finally get to try this place after living in Lesliville for a year. The staff were so friendly and menu was great. I also had a really nice cocktail and the back patio is so welcoming.
Had dinner on the back patio and it was lovely. Very nice atmosphere, good spacing, and staff were wonderful. The food and wine was amazing.
The food was tasty although the portions were quite small - I would gladly pay a little more for a bigger portion, especially the side dishes. Service was fantastic..
Great little spot, nice ambiance! Patio was super cozy especially if you can book the back one. Food was okay, slightly boring (sounds great on the menu but the flavours were not complex) and very small plates. Presentation was lovely and service was awesome!
Had a lovely dinner on their front patio - even with the pouring rain, the service was fantastic! Food was plated beautifully. Looking forward to a second visit sometime soon!
Can t say enough about this place! Fabulous food, great ambiance, impeccable hospitality, and a business with a beautiful social conscious! Go!
Excellent ambience, fast and friendly service, excellent cocktails, good wine list, good desert. The quality and size of the main courses were rather on the average side (seared duck breast and tuna crudo). Good experience overall.
Enjoyed our time. Some of the food was good, other dishes okay. Service was okay, had some good input on some choices but would have liked more guidance on others. Will go back eventually, hoping for an improvement down the road.
This was our first time dining at Greta Solomons and we sat at the bar. The restaurant itself is so charming and welcoming, we had such a lovely evening. The service was friendly and attentive - it could not have been better. The food was so good. We started with a cheese board and charcuterie platter, followed by a beef poivre and the fish special. The beef was so tender and perfectly cooked. We also saved room for dessert and shared a creme brulee and a homemade chocolate cake, which was the perfect end to our meal. We are so happy to be dining inside again, and what a great meal and dining experience! This restaurant gets it right: great atmosphere, warm and professional service, delicious food and beautiful presentation. Thanks again for a wonderful evening and we will definitely return.
Went there when their summer menu was up and it was delicious! I had fish and it was great! Only thing is portion was a little small but wife really enjoys it
My fiance and I went here for our bi-weekly date night (Thursday). It was lovely. The servers took our coats immediately (so civilized). Then on to our menu and beverage choices. The server patiently came back after a first check bc we hadnt even looked at the menu yet as we were talking. I wasnt drinking alcohol which did not even raise a brow from the server (appreciated that). My fiance had a Grey goose cocktail. We stated with oysters. Delightful. Then (and my favorite part) the wine choices were extremely varied AND they had Organic wines! Amazing Thanks for such a great time Gretas well be back!
Simply amazing
Sweet intimate place. Great vibe, great food. Lots of attention to detail. Its French!
obviously pricey but damn good food great for a nice date night
