A classic French bistro located in the heart of Brockton Village, not far from downtown. Le Baratin is serving traditional French flair in a casual and relax atmosphere. Everything is made in-house from scratch by Chef Jean-Régis and his team and paired with an very affordable and exclusively French wine list. Santé!
Service: 5. Food:4. Atmosphere:4. I would like to rate 5 star and the food was good. But not great to 5 star sorry. Good atmosphere and sweet spot. Staff was very friendly and food came in 2/3 courses. Mushroom soup was creamy and rich. Zucchini and potato soup was special of the day, light and fresh. Duck breast was okay. Lamb shank was good.
My partner and I had a wonderful experience at Le Baratin. The food was really delicious, and the environment is very cozy and romantic. Steak frites, Gravlax and Chocolate Mousse were highlights. The mussel special was also delicious.
I grew up in Montreal and great French food was so easily available. It’s much more difficult to find In Toronto: this was hands down the best I’ve had. It was homey, comforting, and delicious. Service was good, and it’s a cozy spot. Will return many times!
We recently dined at this charming French restaurant and were instantly taken by the warm, cozy ambiance inside. It was the perfect setting for a relaxed evening, with dim lighting and elegant touches that made it feel both intimate and welcoming. We opted for the two-part menu, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The calamari appetizer was the highlight of the first course—perfectly tender, and paired with a truly delicious sauce. It was a great start to what became a truly memorable meal. For the main course, we went with the duck confit and steak frites, and it was simply unforgettable. The confit was the favourite - skin was golden and crispy, while the meat was rich, tender, and full of flavor. Every bite was decadent, balanced with the right amount of seasoning, and made even better with its sides, which perfectly complemented the dish. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after you’ve left the table. The prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the care that went into every dish. We were more than satisfied with both the experience and the value. We’ll definitely be coming back for another round of that duck confit!
Very good French food and not over priced at all. We had swordfish special and duck leg, both flavored really well. Duck leg was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and red wine sauce was super tasty. Swordfish was tiny bit salty to my liking. Dessert chocolate mousse was very light and delicious! Only that AC was not strong enough on a hot day. But overall highly recommend!
Solid experience with a nice French authenticity to it. Highly recommend the magret de canard (duck breast). Service could have been better. Came here for my girlfriend's birthday and ordered the three course meal for the two of us (~$60 per person). We got a bunch of pates and sausages as appetizers that were very gamey and delicious in flavor. Next were the entrees, which were the poisson du jour (fish of the day), a fish risotto and the magret de canard. The risotto was a bit underwhelming, but the duck breast was truly out of this world -- extremely savory and rich! The dessert was mille-feuille, but it took almost an hour to come out for some reason even despite checking on the order. It also wasn't the normal mille-feuille, as it seemed like their own spin on it. Overall, the service could have been a lot better considering the limited amount of seating. Food was great and good value.
This French restaurant must be the cheapest in town for 3 course dinner in $60. The quality of food is way above the price. If you are a group of two, you can order 2 course dinner and get a shared appetizer, a shared dessert, and 2 main courses for $100 in total. The daily special is surprising and the portion is huge.
Visited this place during a lovely street festival, and I have to say, this little restaurant is a gem! The atmosphere was vibrant and lively, which added to the charm. The service was wonderful – everyone was so friendly and attentive. A+ to the ratatouille. It was delicious and bursting with flavor. One small suggestion would be to balance the taste of the steak with a bit more sauce, but overall, it was still very tasty. If you're looking for a cozy spot with great food and excellent service, try this place.
My new favourite restaurant. 5 stars across the board!
Quaint bistro with excellent menu selections and a very good wine list.
Amazing brunch at this place. Definitely recommend visiting!
A genuine treat. Great food and service.
One of the best restaurants in Toronto!
Very relaxed spot with great food...The swrvice was also excellent. Merci le Baratin
The food, service and ambience were all just perfect!! Highly recommend! Food
Fantastic French cuisine! Love the duck leg confit and the mushroom leek tart! Good portions and reasonably priced.
The only French thing about this restaurant was the bad attitude.
I took my girlfriend for her birthday last night and it was amazing! I was looking for good restaurants downtown area and i stumbled on this one that caught my eye. And wow was the food so good. We both had steak frites and they did not disappoint, with a creme brulee as dessert. If you speak french as well its great because they speak it so lovely, and it helps if your girlfriend cant speak it so you can order a candle for her creme brulee without her knowing which they were happy to help me with! Would recommend to anyone to try this place
We had a great evening! The atmosphere is very nice and the starters, main courses and desserts were delicious! We will come back with pleasure!
Food - the steak dish is one of the best that Ive had. It is succulent, flavourful, and I did not feel overly heavy after the meal. I tried my friends roasted duck breast and it was not bad but it was a little dry. The dessert options change from time to time but Ive always found them to be impeccable. Service - the waitress we had was informative, funny and a pleasure to have. Sometimes the service is a little slow. Atmosphere - the seats get uncomfortable after sitting on them for a while. It would be great if the restaurant could add cushions.
Favorite French restaurant in town. The food is perfect as always. I love their daily specials!
Awesome French restaurant with legit well cooked food for a very reasonable price and some fantastic wines. Sat outdoor and the service was perfect, waiter went through the wine list and dishes with us and all the recommendations turned out to be great. I had the Magret de Canard which was perfectly cooked and the sauce was masterfully done. My wife had the Espadon and it was delicious. Will definitely come back.
Such a quaint and cozy spot. They serve up the best food too.
Editing my review since they wanted feedback- The food quality was surprisingly sub-par. Steak is extremely thin. The chocolate cake was dry and crispy on the outside as though it had been reheated many times. You could hear the disappointment from both tables on either side of me, equally surprised with the meal. The French diners were far more vocal about their disappointment and I suppose that s the way to go otherwise you re met with passive aggression. C est la vie .
What a hugely disappointing meal. The quality of the food was extremely lacking both in the questionable cuts of meat and flavour of the dishes. Calamari starter was very bland and under seasoned. The calamari itself had a very odd texture too it that was off putting. The steak main course was possibly the worst steak I ve ever had. My medium rare steak came out more medium well/well done, however I can t fault the chefs as the steak was 0.5cm thick and it would be impossible to properly cook that. I had no idea you could even have a steak so thin. It was further smothered in a very overbearing onion gravy, while the steak itself lacked a crust or seasoning. Highlight of the night was the pear tart dessert which was very good. Final tip for the wait staff is please avoid using vinegar based cleaners around your diners. Wiping down a neighboring table with white vinegar is off putting while guests are trying to eat
Paris a Toronto
Best French food
One of the best french brunch I ever had. Their French croque is just amazing.
I didnt know you could eat like this outside of Quebec. Lovely staff, location, and above all food. Go hungry!
Delicious food. We had the gnocchi appetizer, streak frites, and Mille-Feuille and a bottle of wine. Definitely recommend and can t wait to come back.
Loved the service, the food and the vibe!
We made a reservation before for a table of three, but when we arrive me and my friends weren t able to eat that much so we decided to order just 2 main courses for sharing. But when we decide to order, the waiter kept on saying that we must order at least 2 courses each since the table is reserved. But in the reservation page they didn t mentioned that there is a minimum spend for each table. And the waiter also had a bad attitude since we enter the restaurant.
Absolutely wonderful food & service. One of my favourote places in the city.
Came on a Monday for their $10 cocktails (which are dangerous!) Yes they do have espresso martinis here as well. I had the Nicoise Salad, and tried the Chocolate Mousse. Everything I had was delicious and the servers were very attentive. Sat outside at their patio vs indoors as the seating was a bit tight (but it does provide an intimate setting for a date night)
Every single item we tried was delicious and flavourful. Great service and cozy interior. Appetizers, mains, and desserts came out with just enough time in between to not feel too full! Would definitely come back again!
Authentic french bistro vibes. Food was on point, french cuisine classics with their own twists. Highly recommended.
Le Baratin is the perfect place for a gorgeous intimate French meal. All three of our courses were outstanding from start to finish. Definitely recommend the steak frites and the duck.
Great place if your looking for French cuisine. You can t go wrong
Amazing food and service ! 10/10 would recommend.
We will return.
Food and service were excellent. However, the AC wasnt working so it was sweltering hot! Sitting next to the kitchen didnt help either.
Great food with good value. We indulged in their Thursday wine special, $20 off wine bottles. The steak frites were delicious and the Grouper fish special was great too. Food : 5/5
It was excellent. Food. Service. Atmosphere. This is the best French restaurant in Toronto! I will be back
We ordered the salad , duck breast and lamb entrees. The portion size was generous enough for two to share . The chocolate mousse cake with ice cream was great as well . Our server spoke fluent French ,his genuine accent gave the whole experience very authentic at this lovely French restaurant. I would absolutely go back .
Such a cozy and cute French restaurant. Service was great and the food was delicious.
Great food and service.
Charming bistro serving delicious food. The atmosphere is very cozy, music is not loud at all, and pretty. Food is tasty and good portion. The chef knows how to balance the dish. For example, confit de canard was served over a bed of mashed potatoes. The duck is crispy, over a creamy soft mashed potatoes, makes the whole thing smooth to eat! Overall very pleasant experience and will come back again.
Great food! Amazing and friendly service (from Clement)! The space had that quintessential French bistro vibe. Such a hidden gem in the west end. I ll definitely be going back! The steak frites was soooo good! Vegetarian options: Not the most extensive vegetarian options but what was on the menu was outstanding- flavour and value.
Amazing brunch .
I enjoyed all dishes and the price is reasonable
Steak frites and the duck were crazy good. Service was amazing, highly recommend!!
This place is charming and with great staff. The food has well balanced flavors. Menu design makes sense: compact but covers all the typical cravings when one thinks of French cafe food. A neighborhood jem!
You can tell the chef cooks with his heart, all dishes tasted yummy , very good service. And the price is unbeatable . We ordered 2 courses dinner for $49 per person.
I loved the vibe of this place, the food was phenomenal, and the service was really great as well. Easily one of my favourite spots in Toronto from now on, and Ill definitely be coming back. The pricing was very fair as well, a three course meal for I think around $59 which could definitely cost $90-100 at a different restaurant for the same quality. What more could you ask for? Just go.
Taste is average, not stellar. Price is reasonable. The setting is below average, not matching the price level. Four people had a dinner here and paid 330 dollars.
Perfect for a date night with the Mrs.
Repeat customer here. Went again last night and blown away. I tell everyone they need to go here. The food is so delicious and the setting is so great and inviting.
Amazing quality, real French food. Came for brunch and will come back to try their dinner!! With patio for the summer ;) highly recommended
Amazing food and great service. Will be back soon
I m always a egg Benedict person. But this restaurant gives a bit more interesting selection that make me want to explore a bit more 1. Daily special Salmon tart: love the texture of the dish. The salad is super good. Nevertheless, I personally think it s super heavy towards the end, and a bit dry. 2. Omelet: the pepper inside was amazing. I love the restaurant to use fresh and delicious ingredient instead of making the sauce super good. Love the experience here. Will come back again for sure.
One of the best meals I have had.
Second visited. Food was tasty and fresh except the beef with too much fascia. They gave discount for that. The App was outstanding.
The lamb special was pretty good but it had ALOT of fat that I had to put to the side. I also didn t love the calamari. The atmosphere was nice.
Ruined our anniversary celebration. Really wanted to like it but it servers 30 minutes to just take a drink order from us . Then they dismissed us twice when we tried to place our food order as they werr in a rush to clear a table for a large group! It s sad .. I wouldn t recommend for any important celebrations
Duck confit Eggs Benny was really well done! Really high quality food!
Quaint, cute and very well prepared French cuisine.
You can enjoy super authentic French cuisine in a casual atmosphere at a homely restaurant. The total cost for a full course for 9 people was $1,115. I drank about 4 bottles of wine and a lot of craft beer for this price. I think its a very reasonable price. Its a very popular restaurant, so reservations are essential.
The service at this restaurant is equally outstanding as the food. Its a cosy, warm feeling place where the food transports you to Europe. Lamb shank was fall of the bone deliciousness. The tarte and salad appetizer was large enough to eat as a meal on its own. The chocolate moose dessert was perfect. Silky and not very sweet. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant!
10/10. Definitely going again
They have always been very accommodating for our reservations (placing us in a spot that would best suit dinner with our young daughter) and careful with my wifes allergies (main one is celiac/no gluten). The food has been great and the service is top-notch. We love it there.
Took my friend out to dinner and both and his wife highly recommend Le Baratin, and it was outstanding! We each had a cocktail before dinner, I went with a G &T and he had a gin martini. We both ordered the steak frites as our main. It was cooked to perfection, the greens were tasty and fresh, the fries were nice and crispy. I had an orange creme brulee for dessert. It was excellent. The owner and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Very nice people. What a fantastic little family run restaurant. I understand why it was packed and highly recommended.
A thoroughly lovely food experience. The escargot were inventive and delicious. Steak was flavourful. We followed up with a delicious cheese plate. Charming staff and welcoming environment. I m going back!
Cozy, rustic, little French restaurant, I feel like it s great place for friend gatherings, dates, and small family gatherings. My friend and I went for brunch on a Saturday morning. We got the french vegetarian spinach pancake and the ducky eggs benedict. Food took quite a while, but it came hottt. Home fries were well seasoned, cooked to a nice golden crisp, and didn t taste greasy at all. The duck confit eggs benedict was flavorful. The eggs were poached perfectly and had beautiful runny yolks. The hollandaise had a good consistency and just the right amount of acidity to cut through the fat of the tender shredded duck confit. Would recommend and revisit Le Baratin!
the food was not as great as i expected. the steak frites were a little soupy and the fries were a little tasteless. the chocolate mousse just tasted of amaretto and no chocolate. it was too overpowering. the appetisers were just mediocre.
An intimate restaurant with friendly staff and amazing food. I had the coq au vin this evening to try something new, but I prefer their lamb shank or steak frites. I drank their 2021 Sauvignon « L instant » Vignoble Berthier Loire Valley. Simply incredible!!!!
Such a beautiful atmosphere Good food + Good service = EXCELLENT Lovely afternoon with my most memorable celebration THANK YOU
My experience at Le Baratin, was outstanding from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The highlight of the evening was the salmon dish, which was simply amazing perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour. Its clear that the chefs expertise shines through in his culinary creations, making Le Baratin a must-visit for any food lover!
Food, service and atmosphere was amazing and I will definitely be going back
I am going to invent time travel so I can go back in time, to tell my younger more handsome self to come here sooner. If there was a hill on Dundas I would sprint to top and tell everyone to come here
It s the most affordable French cuisine in downtown Toronto! You can get a 3-course dinner within $60 Menu selection is great. Apart from the regular menu, they also have daily specials. Although it s not a typical fancy restaurant, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend this place!
Exceptional service and atmosphere. This is one of the best restaurants I have had! What we ordered Steak frites Escargot (exceptional! My favourite) Lamb shank with mash potatoes Mussels with white wine
Fantastic, very good food and excellent service
There were 5 people in our party and we had dinner recently at Le Baratin. Three of us choose the Wednesday special (Steak Frites) and all loved it; the meat was tender and the sauce was good. One of our party had the vegetarian 3 course prix fix menu, and liked all the courses. The other person had fish as part of their prix fix. Service was attentive, and the room has a nice vibe. Cozy, but not too loud.
Some of the best and most affordable French cuisine in Toronto. The food was 10/10, we had the salad, escargot, and steak frites, and Id order every dish over again. Service is good and the restaurant only has about 10 tables so its a little more intimate. You can do a 2 course for $49 or 3 course for $59, and the portions are also more generous than I was expecting, especially at the price. Id easily recommend!
We tried a sunday brunch here. The food was very good and the ambient was very cozy. Definitely recommend this place. Food
Went here for dinner tonight with my mom, dad and sister, the ambiance is great. Small restaurant but extremely attentive servers, amazing food and very reasonably priced. I will be recommending this restaurant to all my family and friends :)
This is a lovely spot that has never disappointed. Brunch is excellent. Staff are very welcoming. Being here takes away a bit of the pain I feel for not being in France. :)
Great spot for delicious French brunch!!
I can t believe I came across this french cuisine gem. It was absolutely amazing! We had the escargot and streak frites, which were both done to perfection! The chef OUTDID themselves today! Thank you so much for the lovely food, drinks and experience :)
very cozy place, food was really delicious for the price. Me and my partener ordered a 3 course prix fix menu and ordered different dishes to try and everything was delicious. My favorite was the gravlax, steak frite, escargot, and orange creme brulee. Price was very reasonable for the quality and portion
We were very excited to visit this restaurant since its highly rated on Google. The atmosphere was great, and so was the service. Its unfortunate that we were not able to enjoy the food as much as others. We had duck and beef, and my partner and I both said the highlight of the evening was the mashed potatoes, which was flavourful, creamy and delicious. We appreciated the very complex flavour of the dishes, but we felt like they were missing the punch line. Dont get me wrong, the food was great and Im sure most of you will enjoy it, but they just werent for us. What made the whole experience bizarre was the retaliation from the owner after I posted a review. I stated that I was expecting more from a $110 dinner, which they replied with, and I quote, dont post lies just because your date did not go well and you had to pay for it. Seems like the owner cannot accept anything less than a 4 star review, so just be ready if you are going to press that 3 or less star button. It makes me wonder how many people also took down their reviews because of the retaliation from the owner, and perhaps thats why the restaurant has very high ratings. AndI think we felt more disappointed because we had such high expectations from reading the reviews...
The overall experience at the restaurant was average. The decor was cute, but the space felt cramped and potentially posed a fire hazard with the high number of diners. The appetizer tarte with goat cheese and tomatoes had hard mustard seeds that detracted from the enjoyment of the dish. The duck was chewy and fatty, although the sauce was tasty. Some of the vegetables lacked flavour. Unfortunately, I won t be returning in the future.
One the best 3 course French cuisine around in this city! Highly recommended
We had a great time at the restaurant for brunch. The food is very good, the atmosphere is pleasant and the waitress is smiling.
Was so excited to try this place after all the great reviews but unfortunately left very disappointed. The escargot was great, but the lamb and duck mains were both very off in flavoring, could barely eat either of them. The mashed potatoes were gritty and the potato stack with the duck entree tasted almost like it had sand in it. The martinis we ordered were also some of the worst we ve ever been served. Service was fine, took forever to get and pay our bill. Washrooms were also ice cold and relatively rough in appearance given the quality of the restaurant. Overall just a really disappointing experience, but maybe it was just an off day for the kitchen?
Eggs Benedict were great! Croque madame also very good.
Incredible service, delicious food, spectacular atmosphere, everything perfect, worth every penny
Was quite good
Awesome hidden. Gem in this neighborhood. Very reasonably priced food ( which was outstanding!) Will be visiting again!!! Parking: Street parking only. If you come before 6:30pm you need to park on the opposite side. $2.25 per hour
Amazing food, great portion sizes, at reasonable prices. HIGHLY recommend the tarte tatin. Food : 5/5
Le Baratin deserves every bit of its 5-star rating and more! This charming bistro offers an unforgettable dining experience that combines exquisite French cuisine with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance. From the moment you step inside, youre greeted with the inviting aroma of freshly baked bread and simmering sauces, setting the stage for a culinary journey that delights the senses. The menu showcases classic French dishes prepared with a modern twist, each one bursting with flavor and presented with artistic flair. What truly sets Le Baratin apart is the impeccable quality of the ingredients and the skillful execution of each dish. Whether youre indulging in the buttery richness of escargot or savoring the tender perfection of coq au vin, every bite is a revelation. While the prices may be on the higher end, what you get in return is an unparalleled dining experience that exceeds expectations at every turn. From the first bite to the last, each dish is a masterpiece of flavor and presentation, showcasing the skill and artistry of the chefs. So while it may be a splurge for some, for those who appreciate fine dining and are willing to invest in a memorable culinary experience, Le Baratin is more than worth it. After all, some things are priceless, and the memories created here will last a lifetime.

I ve been going to Le Baratin for as long as they ve been open, and absolutely adore having this perfect little restaurant in my neighborhood. The food, atmosphere & service are all out of this world. I highly recommend this place to everyone, and love introducing new people.
We ve been back to Le Baratin 3-4 times and it s always been a treat. We love their fixed price menu, it s very reasonably priced for high quality ingredients. The service is very professional. Their wine pours are also very generous and there s an excellent selection. Overall we highly recommend this bistro and will be back more!
That one is delicious!
Good Brunch menu. Amazing Lunch menu with highly recommendable sandwiches. Small dinner menu but amazing. What makes this place great is that the chef(s) truly care about what they put on the plate.
Delicious egg benny in a cozy cafe-style French restaurant made my sunday brunch special. They were out of a few items as we were seated around 12:30 pm. Its an open kitchen concept and the only chef was churning out the food one after the other. Service was quick and the food tasted and looked nice.
Made an online reservation for a 10 pm seating on a Friday night. We were called at around 8pm to come earlier at 930. Perplexed why they asked us to do this. Arriving to the restaurant at 945 we were seated but rushed to put in our food order. Ordered the escargot, duck rillete plate, steak frites, and bouillabaisse (described as similar to bouillabaisse, but it was the fish special). The sauce on the escargot overpowered the protein and couldve easily been used as beef stroganoff. Rillete platter was there, nothing wow and nothing horrible (jarred mustard seeds and jarred cornichon) except it was country style chunky and dry, same with the terrine. Fish special came as a cop out as it was a melange of seafood in a stew instead of a well cooked filet of fish, and barely reminiscent of a standard bouillabaisse. Steak was ordered medium and came as desired, frites were undercooked and hard in the centre and soured (too much vinegar in the blanching?). Could not get anything rectified as our courses were being asked to rush and the servers were unavailable for any feedback and they wanted to finish their shift. We were the last ones in the restaurant but felt uncomfortable to order anything else (ie dessert). They had a communal coat rack for our bulky winter coats but nothing around to place your purse except precariously hanging on the back of your chair. Overall, over promised and under delivered. For the response that Ive received for this review, I hope you are taking feedback from your guests and making adjustments accordingly. Your servers had absolutely described it as a bouillabaisse so please dont gaslight saying it doesnt happen as whoever you are was not present at this situation. And the apology that your philosophy is not to rush us must be followed through with intention. I do not feel like you are taking accountability for anything and simply putting the blame on me for having a personal opinion with my experience at your establishment, no malicious personal intent.
All around incredible! The food was amazing - so flavourful, authentic and absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming and overall atmosphere was great. Hands down best Mexican food I have ever had. Highly recommend!
Delicious! Excellent experience, ordered steak frites and lamb shank. Both are incredibly well seasoned and melt in your mouth.
Charming environment, excellent wine, and very special food. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The best French restaurant in the city, by far. Parfait !!
Disappointing.
Amazing French food. Everything tastes authentic and all made in house! Just delicious. Wonderful side salad as well! Vegetarian options: All options have a vegetarian choice Kid-friendliness: Very friendly staff and there are kids here and great choice of menu Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to enter, but bathroom in basement
Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Le Baratin, a French restaurant tucked away in Toronto, and it was nothing short of a Parisian escape. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance whisked me away to the streets of Paris, with its intimate setting and warm, inviting atmosphere. Make sure you make a reservation, I hit some bad traffic and called in that I was late and they were super cool about it.
Using my bfs account to leave another 5 star review because this place deserves it
The space is a bit tight but the food was nice. I had the steak
This is a lovely little restaurant that I often go to celebrate milestones with my husband and with friends. I love the menu format of choosing each course for a set price. The menu rotates and Ive never been disappointed by a dish. Highly recommend the steak frites and chocolate mousse. And, if you have a peanut allergy (like I do) they are very allergen aware and do not use peanuts in their kitchen. Dietary restrictions: Very allergen aware and can accommodate peanut allergies
Amazing dining experience. The ambience was super cosy on a chill winter night. The service was perfect and well timed. The food was amazing - best I have had outside of France. I would highly recommend you try this place.
Stunning!
Lovely and Highly Enjoyable
Great little brunch + dinner spot, good for 2-4ppl. They don t take resos but didn t have to wait. Food was fresh and portions were perfect. The vegetarian omelette was delicious. Would go again!
Excellent food service and atmosphere! For the price the food is exceptional! Proper French cooking! Highly recommended and we will come again!
With drinks and tips this comes out at $100 head for a 3 course table d hote. The plates are all excellent varying between 7/10-9/10 on the MB scale and the restaurant gets a 8/10 MB rating based on great quality for value. Well worth a repeat and a definite neighborhood hangout if you live nearby.
Been there 3 times, authentic French cuisine with slight variations and modernizations, small space with cozy atmosphere.
Great spot for brunch
Ate here Friday evening. Warm, professional service. The food was amazing with good size portions. Would definitely recommend and go back!
Absolutely delightful gem!
The food was a lot better than I expected. Really enjoyed my experience. I had the Arctic char with lobster bisque and it was amazing.
Delicious brunch in a relaxed atmosphere. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options. Food : 5/5 |
Ive been here for both dinner and brunch and this place is simply amazing. Like, six star out of five. Always great service and great food. Great options, even if youre on a restrictive diet. Kid-friendliness: The server was super attentive to my four-year-old daughter. She picked up instantly my daughter likes drinks with ice and brought ice for both her water and juice.
We had an excellent experience! It was recommended by a girl from Paris that I met at a coffee shop and this place lived up to her hype. Great value especially for the quality of food. You d be hard pressed to find better value in Toronto. The dishes were all superb! Vegetarian options: Options are available
The food was just okay. We had a prix fixe dinner for $48 per person. I started with the Assiette de Charcuterie which was a little bland for my taste. The bread felt tough and was a little stale. The pâté and rillettes were a little dry. For my entrée I had the poisson du jour which was an arctic chor with a saffron risotto and a lobster bisque. While the fish was prepared very well, the meal fell short on the risotto being a bit gritty and not warm enough. The staff were pleasant and very knowledgeable but not too sure if that s enough to have me running back here any time soon.
Great French dishes
Amazing food and service. Cant wait to go back.
Little restaurant with amazing breakfast.
A wonderful experience. Highly recommend the chef specials. We had Monkfish that was Devine. This place does fill up so make a reservation on Open Table for free. Vegetarian options: Great veggie Lasagna
I ve been here a few times after discovering it near my neighbourhood. The food has always been delicious and great portion sizes for price. I ve tried many dishes, my favourite being the gravlax appetizer and steak frites main, and their desserts are tasty too. Great atmosphere and it s always busy when I ve visited, yet still feels tasteful yet cozy and relaxing. The staff are great too. But last night I went there with some friends to celebrate my partner s birthday and it was my best experience there yet! The staff was so friendly and our server especially put so much into making it a really special dinner. So kind and thoughtful. I always recommend this place because I ve never had a bad time here!
Love this place, so cozy, staff is so welcoming, delicious classic French food!
We loved everything from the duck rillete and beet salad to the steak frites and creme caramel. Wine and service was excellent and great ambience. Our second time here but certainly not our last.
Here to celebrate my friend s birthday. The escargots in p1 were delicious with a chewy texture. However, the flavoring of the duck breast in p3 is very weird. I m not into the sourness. The steak my friend ordered (p4) was acceptable. Overall the food quality was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the price.. If it was any other casual occasion I d be fine with it but it was my bestie s birthday and I had expected better experience than this.
French toasts are a must
It s a true gem! The restaurant is pretty small, and the atmosphere is intimate - perfect for a date. The service we received was great, very welcoming. Waiters are knowledgeable and helpful. We had escargot (delicious!), salmon gravlax, duck confit, steak and a chocolate mousse cake. Every dish was delicious. Its rare to find this quality of food for such price in Toronto! The duck and steak were incredible, so tender and juicy, just how it should be. Thank you Le Baratin for this great dinner experience
Ordinary menu not that exciting. Service was fine. Expensive for what you get. A charcuterie board or cheese board should be better served or presented on a wood board, instead of a plate. It looks more to me like a Chinese restaurant than a French restaurant. I will not go back there or refer people to go there.
We came here for my birthday and the food doesn t disappoint. Such a quaint restaurant with big flavours. This place has now become my new fav spot. The highlights were the pork chop, duck and ratatouille lasagna
Food is very tasty and staff is knowledgeable but service can be slow. Inside is not very big so tables are pretty close together, the kitchen is open to the dining room so can get pretty toasty inside. They do have a patio in the summer. Mains were delish- get the Arctic char if they have it ) desserts mediocre.
Had an amazing French meal here. Food is top notch!
Maybe the most tasty and satisfying meal I have had in Toronto, and I have lived here my entire life. Was a bit hot in the place itself but other than that absolutely delicious
Very good experience overall. The food was delectable. I had the beet salad, the pork chop and the lemon verrine, and my partner had the cheese, the steak fries, and the special chocolate. I would have liked to have a server who spoke French, but I understand that there are not many French speakers here. In short, a great experience :)
We came again last night and it was again fantastic! Food, presentation, service, all!
The food and service was spectacular!! I will definitely be going back, I think it s my new favourite place, highly recommend
Lovely place, 3 course and 2 course meal options. The food was great, I had the charcuterie platter and the lasagna. Definitely enjoyed it, and am already planning on taking some out of town family on their next visit.
We came for here for beautiful dinner and now we re trying their brunch. Simply incroyable! We had the eggs Benedict with Duck Confit and the Croque Madame, and let s just say, we re going to be regulars. And they also have an amazing, reasonably priced wine selection featuring a lot of labels I ve never seen before.
Second time eating here, it was fantastic on all fronts again. Authentic French cuisine with great service. It is almost impossible to find a 3-course meal (at this price point) of greater quality in the GTA, in ANY cuisine much less French. Will definitely be back.
Cute restaurant, food was great. The only thing was I came out of the restaurant with fried food smell everywhere including my jacket. Maybe better ventilation would work
Such a wonderful gem in Toronto west-end! Everything has been to our complete satisfaction, pure joy! So happy to celebrate my partner s birthday here. We definitely will back!
Visited for the 2nd time in 5 years and remembered what i regretted the 1st time. I find the lunch menu doesnt have many choices/or at least not many options appealing to me. You basically have a choice between croque monsieur, omelette, pancake and egg benedict.(& Tartiflette, which i had). Restaurant was quite empty for a sat lunch and staff was friendly
As a French person myself I can confidently say that Le Baratin is one of the best spots in Toronto to enjoy truly authentic and delicious French food that French people actually eat as well. The service is also great. Chef Jean-Régis and his team are phenomenal. If you havent been there you are missing out !
I went there for a friends graduation. The food quality was excellent. I ordered the Magret de canard and the mousse au chocolat. Absolute gem. I recommend 100%.
Update: Seeing the owners reply and taking a dig at someones professional life tells me how much they value their customers. And while we totally understood that mistakes happen and didnt want to make it a big deal then, we definitely expected the mains to taste good. You really cant go wrong with a steak but we were proven wrong!!! While the appetizers and service were amazing, the main course was very disappointing. Firstly, two of us on our table were given the wrong cooked steaks (I got the medium that the other person ordered vs medium rare and vice versa) Secondly, all the mains were so poorly salted that we had to sprinkle salt after every few bites. For the amount this meal costs, it was pretty disappointing! Wont return again!
Brunch options were amazing. I had the french toast and it was delicious. The 4 of us really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend
Le Baratin is a fun neighborhood place. We went for brunch on a Sunday and were seated quickly. I ordered the traditional eggs benedict was delicious although it was not as hot as Id like it. Well try it again some time for dinner.
Cozy atmosphere, good food, reasonably priced considering the prices in Toronto nowadays. The dessert was the best part, I really liked their tarte tatin.
I really enjoyed my time here. I was recommended this restaurant by a couple of coworkers, so I decided to give it a try. Now I definitely will be returning because the food was delectable! The gravlax was probably my favourite dish, as someone who loves gravlax.. Le Baratin makes some of the best. So much flavour and the bread that is served with it was delicious. Every single dish I tried here was top notch! I can t wait to return. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian items are available. Parking: Depends on what time you go, there is street parking and a green P.
Popped in for a coffee, they were booked up but still accommodated us! Great place to visit, the food looks incredible
We had super delicious French brunch. They have a lot of good choices and I highly recommend the french pancakes! The restaurant is cozy and the servers friendly. Food
Awesome french restaurant, 2nd time here, portions are perfect, service is awesome, no complaints. Highly recommended if you want authentic French food. Resos a must. Theres street parking or Indigo parking close by
Very tasty food and cosy atmosphere! Our waitress was so nice and friendly! It is a small cute French bistro. Highly recommend!
Great contemporary French cuisine, a comprehensive wine list, and the service was OUTSTANDING.
Service was outstanding here, so warm and inviting, they took such good care of us! The dinner menu was exquisite and being fixed price it was very affordable. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and would definitely come again. Disclaimer: This review is a few months late (sorry! ) but I was thinking about this place and how much we adored it!
Great food, very well prepared, nice cozy place
They never answer phone calls
A lovely little place with great food. We went here for brunch and really enjoyed it. The baked French Toast and the Coq Monsieur were both very delicious. As seems to be the case with these small places it can get a bit noisy with everyone on the room talking, but the food is worth it.
The environment was great and services are really nice.
I booked for a group of 6 for my husbands birthday and I was a bit hesitant to go with a large group just because it looked like a smaller space online so wasn t sure how it would be with a big group, but went through with it based on great reviews. We had the best night and had a great table by the window with lots of room, it didn t feel squished at all. Our server was amazing, he never missed a beat, was kind and friendly and took great care of our group. The food was so delicious, well prepared/seasoned and came perfectly timed. The atmosphere is so warm and cozy but very lively. You can tell it s a well loved restaurant by the patrons. I ve been to France many times and this is the closest I ve felt to being there while in Toronto. I will highly recommend this great little spot to many. Thanks for a lovely night!
great French food, lovely staff, awesome vibe. def will go back!
