Lovely restaurant in the area. Great service. We enjoyed the mussels and duck confit. Personally prefer la pallate on queen w but this is great too

Last time we came here we couldnt get a table so we sat at the bar. We had so much fun we asked to sit at the bar this time. Food was terrific. Great service! We really enjoyed the interactions with the servers behind the bar. Theres just something about this place (Great vibe) We will be coming back soon. Went back and it s official . This is my favorite French restaurant!!! Great food and always great service.

Never disappoints - great place to pre-game before a show at History - great staff and delicious bistro fare.

Came here for a birthday celebration. It was stellar. The spicy grilled shrimp starter with avocado was to die for and the butternut squash, eggplant and carrot curry with quinoa was pure comfort food. We shared the sorbet which was fresh and rich - each of the flavours - coconut, strawberry and passion fruit was a taste sensation. I have a number of food sensitivities. They were very accommodating, with no hesitation to make adjustments to my menu selections. And everyone else in the group of 4 enjoyed their mains as much as I did.

we had the whipped goat cheese appetizer and chicken schnitzel. Both were unbelievably delicious. Crisp with a ton of flavour. For drinks we had an espresso martini that was one of the best in the city. So good! Service was amazing as well as the ambiance. Highly recommend

Unfortunately, had a very poor service experience here. Throughout the night, the server consistently offered unequal treatment to the table by focusing on a few individuals. This included nearly not taking my food order, completely missing a drink order, and not even giving me red wine glass when my main was brought out (while everyone else had one). Very disappointed and will not be going back.

This place is very unique! Highly recommend! I loved the eccentric decor. We hosted a birthday and were a group of 10. Our waiter was very fun and attentive I wish I caught his name! The food is smaller portion, however, flavor and quality is there. We had mussels, shrimps and goat cheese appetizers- all good! The duck confit is def a winner as the other reviews state. We ll def be back for future celebrations.

A few red flags for BIPOCs considering eating here. When I first walked into the restaurant, I requested to sit in the patio. There were multiple tables open in the patio. But for some reason, the host had to go and ask the owner for permission. After getting permission for me to sit at the patio, I waited to be served. After some time watching the owner talk to the table next to me (they seem like regulars at this restaurant), he finally walked by my table. I flagged him down and asked to order. He immediately seemed annoyed, and dismissed me and told me a waiter will take my order. And he did it in a way like he was too good to bother talking to me. The owner seemed really nice to everyone else. I was the only BIPOC in the entire restaurant. You put two-and-two together.

Good food, service and pricing. Biggest problem, which isnt their problem is parking. Staff are great!!

The food is always great here as is the attentive and friendly service. This is a neighbourhood favourite of many who are regulars here. We enjoyed the patio tonight and had a light dinner because it was too hot to eat a big meal. We will be back, and back and back again.

This is our go-to spot for any celebration or anytime we want to treat ourselves with a guaranteed amazing meal and experience. Staff is amazing, always happy to see us and always make us feel like a million bucks. Food is a 10 out of 10 every single time. Always worth the splurge

From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for the evening. The attentive staff made us feel like VIP guests, ensuring that every moment was special. The menu was a culinary delight, with each dish surpassing the last in flavour and presentation. Whats more, the pricing was reasonable, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I cant recommend Sauvignon Bistro enough for anyone looking to create lasting memories with great food and exceptional service! Thank you!

The atmosphere, interior, foods and wines all have elegant taste. Everything is so so so good! I felt like I was in the fantasy world.

New favourite dinner spot. Super warm and funky atmosphere with great service. My wife had the scallops with risotto, which was amazing. I had the rack of lamb, which was also excellent. Looking forward to going again.

Was expecting to have a nice evening here tonight, but was very disappointed - from the waiter who grabbed the menu out of my hand and later roughly handled removing the plates and cutlery from the table; to the loud and annoying techno music (more suitable for a nightclub); to the overly spicy vegetarian butternut squash curry which gave me an upset stomach. We will not return.

I come here every year for my moms bday and we always have a great experience. We are a fan of the service, food and atmosphere.

I was in this place for the first time, we beat with my son, I ordered fish and rice, I didnt like the combination (rice with lemon, fish without lemon) it didnt work out for me. My son took mashed potatoes cortofel and chicken schnitzel, it was a delicious dish, but simple. 2 types of beer on tap, but a large selection of wine We went to the restaurant on Saturday evening, but we found a table for us, the dishes did not have to wait long despite the fact that the restaurant was crowded, when we finished the tiapez, we found that all the tables were occupied, people were even sitting at the bar. Another disadvantage is that the restaurant is very noisy, there are a lot of people, everyone is talking, the aponent was not heard, I had to listen and ask again

Met with friends and had an early mid-week dinner. Loved the atmosphere, casual and laidback. Service was friendly and not over attentive...comfortable. The duck confit was a clear winner, one of the best Ive had. Moist, flavourfull and just right. Finished the day with a good creme brule. Definitely will return!

One word... Delicious! Great place for great food, lovely vibe and an enjoyable meal. Started with Moroccan kebabs.. yum. Rack of Lamb with beans and parsnip mash. Salmon with a lemony risotto and finished with a strawberry shortcake dessert. Will definitely come back.

By far the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. I am disgusted. The server ignored us for most of the time we were there. When we werent being ignored, we were treated rudely - from the server dropping the menu (which we had to ask for after waiting at our table for 15 minutes) on the floor and leaving without picking it up for us, to dismissively waving off any attempts to get their attention so we could order food. We were treated like we didnt belong... not sure if it was because we were the only BIPOC group in the restaurant at the time. But regardless, I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Always the best service and DELICIOUS food. We have been many times in the past and we will be there many times in the future.

Im giving atmosphere a 4½ rating, because 3-5 ratings would be perfect, and although it was excellent, I cant give it a perfect rating. But it was as close to perfect as is possible. Thanks to the staff for making our very special night even more special

This place was amazing. The server was so friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance was very sweet romantic and cozy. Patio was very comfortable. Food was simply delicious. This is one of those hidden gems places to come out and try. I had the ribs and man were they tasty everything was fresh made with care and the chef was top notch. Parking: Best to walk

We absolutely love Sauvignon. Just celebrated out 21st anniversary there and food, atmosphere, and service were all the best as always!

Food was mediocre, service was attentive. We sat outside and watched Queen Street East. Had halibut and meatballs and G&Ts. Food lacked any of usual French sauces and butter. October 2023 Sat on the patio and enjoyed our meals much better than last visit. We had four gras halibut, chicken schnitzel. All were tasty We will visit again

We stumbled on this place for drinks and stayed for snacks. It was a lovely stumble. Its been around for over 20 years, Beautiful menu something for everyone one (French Fusion). Wonderful atmosphere. Our attendant Kerry was fantastic. We just went for a snack but will definitely be back again for the duck confit & rack of lamb. Great drinks! Great food! * Split Appetizer in pic. Highly recommend French Martini ( like a classy orange creamsickle Calamari was perfect!!! Should make reservations, but Bar seating is comfortable and very fun.

Experienced this cozy restaurant last nite with a friend. The food was amazing, tasty and clean and very satisfying. We ordered the shrimp, the mussels, lamb, and creme brulee for dessert. Our tummies were content and very satisfied. I usually don t write food reviews, but the attentive service and friendly and welcoming nature of the staff were impeccable. Highly recommend, you will be impressed!

If you know and like French-inspired food, don t eat here. Just meh, not worth the fine dining prices at all. It s an old neighborhood restaurant that thrives because of their loyal local customer base (open since 1998). The decor is tired and it seems items they are not currently using to decorate get stowed in the cluttered basement hallway to a filthy bathroom complete with dirty rotating cloth towel dispenser circa 1998. Bathrooms say a lot about the overall cleanliness of a dining establishment, and I regret not making that my first stop before deciding to eat here. Save yourself the trouble and go to one of the other French inspired restaurants in Leslieville. Much better value proposition, quality and care put into food at other restaurants.

Service, and food are excellent, totally worth it..

Great service, tasty food and fun drinks. What more can you ask for? We were served by Corey who was superb. Took great care of us, helped us navigate the menu and selected a cocktail based on what we liked. Cant wait to go back!

Disappointing food and ambiance, excellent service! I consider the food we ate was very overpriced . I ate the overcooked and bland Swordfish, accompanied with bland risotto and tasteless garlic greens. My friend had the Braised beef short rib, which he said was tasty, but the accompanying fries looked dry and overcooked. The presentation was mediocre, neither dish looked appealing. The fig tart was was tasty, but presented with a blob of ice cream on top and again lacked presentation. We sat outside in an enclosed ( open sided tent) , but next to 2 loud families with young children. I consider staff should advise patrons about such seating provisions so we could have sat elsewhere. The service was exemplary, very attentive and professional. I would not go back to Sauvignon.

Several weeks ago I made a reservation for Sunday May 15,2022 to celebrate my wifes birthday at her favourite restaurant. When we arrived at the appointed time our entry was blocked by a tall man whom I think may be the owner. He denied taking our reservation, advised us the restaurant was closed and only guests for a private party were welcome. When I asked why our reservation was taken weeks before he denied having it and became very aggressive and rude. In effect telling is to get lost. An abominable experience and not conducive to our ever returning to this restaurant.

Cute little place, great food!

Atmosphere The classic interior is cozy, with an exposed bar, hardwood flooring and an exposed ceiling. The patio was busy, and everyone really seemed to be enjoying themselves, I noticed a few tables having friendly interactions with each other. Overall the atmosphere is laid back and inviting. Service We showed up a little before our actual reservation and were welcomed immediately to a table at the front on the front patio. The waitress Tracy was quick to welcome us and provide us with the menu and explain some great options for dinner, everything seemed fairly priced. What I loved most about the restaurant was that their didn t seem to be any sort of pretentiousness, the servers were dressed nicely, but in their own style. The staff worked together, were quick to refill our wine, clear our plates and provide us with the feeling that we were being taken care of. The Food The appetizers we ordered were the Fried Calamari with Chilli Lime Aioli, and the Spicy Grilled Shrimp, Black Bean and Avocado Salad, tossed in a Citrus Papaya Dressing. The Calamari was fresh, not oily, which can sometimes happen. The Shrimp were large and juicy and the black bean avocado was fresh and light. It was a great start for a hungry guy like me. I had the Duck Confit, with mushroom risotto and spinach for myself, while my partner enjoyed the Pan-Seared Arctic Char, linguine in a pesto cream sauce with tomato and spinach. I was definitely not disappointed by the Duck Confit, the silkiness of the meat allowed it slid off right off the bone, the risotto was well done, the rice slightly al dente, and just the right amount of creaminess. The Arctic char was cooked to medium rare, flaking easily onto the fork, the skin was crispy and savoury. We did order a the Sautéed Garlic Greens as a side but I believe it was forgotten, which was probably for the best as the amount of food we did end up consuming was more than enough. Plus we needed to leave a bit of space for the desert. We shared the Dark Chocolate Marquise, with Raspberry Coulis & Chantilly Cream, which should be a sin. We also indulged in the Madagascar Vanilla Liqueur Creme Brûlée, with Candied Orange Peel and Ginger Snap Cookies. The flavours melded together quite well with the Creme Brûlée.

Wonderful bistro restaurant in the Beaches! The Caesar Salad a la Sauvignon is really yummy and the Orecchiette in a spicy chorizo cream sauce is sooo good! A lovely local gem.

The epitome of a neighbourhood gem! The atmosphere is cosy and romantic, the service warm and efficient, and the food and drinks absolutely delicious. We enjoyed cocktails, appetizers and entrees, and were very sad that we had no room for dessert (next time!). For us, the prices make this a special-occasion date night but they are more than worth paying for the quality of the food and attentive service. You can tell that this is a spot that locals discover and come back to, bringing their friends and anyone they want to impress. I know well be doing the same!

We have been coming here since we moved to the neighborhood 12 years ago. It is our go to. Always have excellent meals incredible service and nothing left wanting at the end of our evening.

Beyond perfection

Very disrespectful... ordered food to take home while enjoying a glass of wine, only to be given the bill with my order. Staff treated me like I didnt belong... not sure if it was a race issue but felt very uncomfortable and no apology..... do not dine here!!

We had a take-out from the restaurant. The food was good, we didn t order anything special (just chicken schnitzel and beef tourtiere), cause it was quite pricey as for a take out. But we enjoyed it, as a good homemade meal. Very friendly staff. We will come back to try the whole dine-in experience and some of the specials from the menu.

Everything was good, the food & drinks, service and atmosphere were fantastic. My only complaint and its minor would be some of the pricing, I luckily was being treated to this meal but including drinks it is a bit above my price range. Otherwise a great experience overall.

Goat cheese appetizer was delicious.

Soo so dated. Food is not good; consists of cliche dishes from the early 90 s - think tapanade, goat cheese, and sundried tomatoes. Menu never changes. They even make you have reservations at 5pm when they have all of 2 tables seated. Not child friendly at all. If you are old and live in the Beaches, this restaurant is for you.

The food here is amazing. However, I m quite disappointed with the service I received. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my anniversary with my partner and we both noticed that halfway through our dinner we were ignored. Upon arrival there were not too many people and we ordered drinks and food. Shortly after many other guests started arriving. We noticed the server had read out the specials to all the other tables except ours which is disappointing because they also sounded great and we might ve chosen one of those. When other people came it seemed that they were more important. One of the servers actually said Oh it seems like you ve been forgotten . Even when trying to pay I was given the bill and it took 5 minutes to flag a server to ask if I needed to go inside to pay. This prompted the server to run inside and get the machine. I m sure the staff was overwhelmed by having a busy restaurant but still I should not have felt ignored.

Fantastic restaurant, Id strongly recommend the muscles or shrimp appetizers, and the haddock and chicken schnitzel for the mains were both excellent. Pricing was reasonable for the quality of the food and service was impeccable.

This place never disappoints! Delicious food (we had the rack of lamb special -- perfectly cooked! But the duck is the perennial favourite!), impeccable service and excellent physical distancing. The staff are warm and welcoming. Wine list is great and not over-priced. Definitely a favourite place. So lucky to have it in my neighbourhood!
