House on Parliament in Toronto

Wonderful evening last night at House on Parliament. They were so amazing to seat a large group of us despite how busy it was. Service was spot on. Food was delicious with a really extensive menu. The portions sizes were huuuuge, which was great. Only slight let down was the salad was a bit too meagre to be a meal salad, and I d prefer it was served in a bowl rather than a plate. But we all had a great time and the Caesars were delish!

Pre ordered on the phone.Got there for the time given and still had to wait 35 min after the time they gave me. As I came they served the lady behind me first without knowing why I was there cause they knew each other. I literally got 1 small meal Wheelchair accessibility: No accessibility. Only stairs and alot of them

No delivery is a problem right now (covid), but I do love their food.

We were in TO to celebrate our anniversary and stopped by for dinner after the theatre. The food and service were fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Loved the cozy atmosphere. Would definitely return!

Great atmosphere, food was delicious. We had the prime rib dinner. Another friend had the burger with sautéed onions and bacon, she loved it. Would definitely recommend and go back.

There was no taste other than vinegar in the salad. The wagyu burger was among the 5 worst burgers Ive ever eaten, only the fish was okay.

He had terrible experience at today Sunday Brunch, with a male waiter wearing a Christmas hat, brown middle race guy. He was the rudest, impolite, with a fake smile. From beginning to end, ignoring 3 of my friends who in different times were politely calling him to get something in our table. Later did not take one of my friends order, a nasty attitude. What a bad service.

I am a local and have tried time and time again as the food is good, sometimes great, however yet again the service was poor! Some of the staple staff really make you feel that you are an inconvenience! Its sad as some of the team are amazing. I really wish the service was friendlier and so many of us locals would spend more time here

Food: Surprisingly great food for a joint I thought was a pub. The chicken pot pie and the sticky toffee pudding were excellent. Service: I always take suggestions from servers and interact with them a fair bit and the experience left me happier than when I got there.

While they were out of the Sunday roast, it only means I ll make it a priority to get there earlier next time. My friends, first-timers at House on Parliament, were equally impressed and vowed to return, a testament to the quality of both the food and the atmosphere. It s the kind of place where you can expect good company, great food, and a warm, lively vibe every time.

Absolutely love House on Parliament! From the moment we walk in, Anchita greets us with warmth and ensures we re well taken care of. Our server, Sean, is simply outstanding his service is unmatched. The food is phenomenal every single time, consistently exceeding our expectations. The prices are incredibly reasonable, making it our go-to spot for every occasion. Whether it s a casual dinner or a special celebration, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend!

It was very busy and we had to wait for a table but the staff were so kind, they made us drinks while we waited and served us very quickly once we were sat so we wouldn t have to wait longer for our food. I d definitely go again!

Went for the fish and chips tonight. Was pretty good. Portion was just about right. Service was great and kitchen was quick. Id come back again to try the prime rib. From my dinner companions comments, pretty much anything on the menu was great.

Female server with short brown hair was super rude and unpleasant. Even made a big deal about splitting a check . First time trying out the restaurant but will not be visiting again .

We were looking for a new place to dine in and we stumbled upon this gem. We were greeted promptly and led to a table in the quieter area of the restaurant. We ordered the steak with mushrooms and wagyu burger. The steak was the tastiest steak I experienced in Canada and the sauce and mushrooms were top notch. The wagyu burger was finger licking good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was rustic and decoration British themed. Service was excellent and we enjoyed our time a lot. One of the better restaurants in Toronto in our eyes.

Great food/service though a tad expensive-but well worth price. Good atmosphere & ambience too! Update March 2024: Exceptional food & service yet again. Johnathan was great! He was host, server all in one! Just excellent how he was so organized. Sam was our waiter & he too was amazing! Professional, personable & informative. Never felt rushed. Great conversationalist. My wife/I are were most impressed by both of them & the food too. The mushroom soup was divine as was the hummus & calamari. I had the Fish & Chips (Good Friday) & my wife had the Duck salad! The food is exceptional, easy 10/10. The atmosphere also great, amazing music, interior was so rustic and beautiful. Now the service, the service makes me not want to come sit down and eat here. The service staff seems to not be happy at all. But again, the chefs are doing a beautiful job.

Great local spot with a big brunch menu and very reasonable prices.

Came on a Friday night and the place was loud and packed. My partner and I ordered the parliament house burger with a gluten free bun and it took over 30 minutes to come. Just before we got our order, were told that they just served their last GF bun. Our options were a lettuce bun or place a new order. We were starving so took the lettuce bun and when we were served the meat was both dry and soggy. It was also a pretty small patty. Needless to say we were incredibly disappointed. How did the kitchen not know until right before our order was ready they had no GF buns left? Shouldnt they check when they received the order? Our server never asked if we wanted another round of drinks either. I know it was a busy Friday but cmon

One of the servers was super rude. Food was big disappointment. We ordered a veggie burger that came with stale fries. However, ambience was good and they have maintained this place really well. They can do wonders if they improve their food quality and behaviour of staff.

We became aware of this restaurant because of the good reviews. The good reviews are really right. We had burgers, pie and the large steak and everything was really delicious. For dessert there was the strawberry dish and the lava cake. According to my daughter, the best she has ever eaten.

How delicious the food was. The steak was amazing, I recommend you try it. The burger was also good and the others were satisfied with their food. All in all, it is a good place and we had a very delicious tea afterwards. We came at a busy time, so they have the right to be a little tired, but its good that the lady who guides people inside, treats them with a little more smile and kindness.

Upscale business casual atmosphere. The service was wonderful! The food was delicious all the way down to the fries.

This place is really beautiful and a must place to have dinner. The ambience is great and the food too. We had ordered Tourtière and Falafel NaanWich. We had the best Falafels till date that too in a Naan. Tourtière texture and the meat was cooked so well and the mash potatoes and the chutney with that was yumm! Definitely recommended .

To be fair, our visit happened during the Cabbagetown festival. I had the chicken sandwich and fries. The fries were cold and the sandwich was a sloppy mess. We were seated at a plastic, crooked table in the way of EVERYTHING, so we never really settled in and couldnt get out of there quick enough as the band wanted our space. She complained about our fries, and they went back uneaten along with allot of my burger - there was no discount. Anyway, we went on to have fun at the festival and may give it another go when things arent so happenin. All the best!

Great pub food and excellent atmosphere. Recommend the burger and stout. Recommend also going on Tuesdays when it s slightly less busy.

Mediocre food. Last couple times eating there I was asked how the food was and mentioned that one condiment was overpowering the flavor; but didn t mind it. Out last visit we returned our food once for being undercooked, then got it back under done to our liking. We didn t complain and just mentioned it, so the server told the frmale manager who approached us with attitude and asked us never to comeback. Best customer appreciation experience ever. Be warned not to complain not receiving a meal how you like it.

Was taken here for brunch the other day for the first time ever and I was amazed. Such a great vibe and hilarious server. We sat on the front patio enjoyed a few mimosas. I had the scotch eggs and my friend had the parliament benny and we split them. Simply divine. It will definitely be a spot I will return to when I come back to town. Keep up the great work!

Food and service are excellent. The Sunday dinner is superb: roast prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes with gravy, seasonal veg, and bread pudding for dessert. Better than moms. Sadly, not wheelchair-accessible.

Whenever we are in Toronto, house on parliament is our defacto kitchen.

I really like this pub. Solid selection of spirits and food that isnt standard fare. The buttermilk chicken sandwich had delectably crispy batter you dont usually find, while tender and juicy on the inside. The wagyu burger was not all that additionally flavorful for the price. Servers were friendly, but left a long delay to the patio tables for the bill. Overall enjoyable

I love this place and have been going for a number of years. The Food is absolutely Amazing. Last nite, we had a delicious meal on your patio... The food ws a clear 10 out of 10. The service was brutally bad. She had 6 tables only and was super SLOW.. I will take this as a One Off - as this has never happened in the past. The waitress gave us a few coupons for free drinks - thank you. Please do better re Servers. We love your place.

Fantastic menu & great patio. Our server was amazing too (Jonathan I think?), Im only docking a star because one of the other servers was so rude (older/heavier white woman with shorter blonde hair). We initially stood on the stairs of the entrance, beside the sign that said Please talk to our servers before sitting at a table, and when we finally got her to stop she responded very nastily Well why are you standing there? We dont serve people on the sidewalk. Again, we were on the stairs of the entrance~very clearly not the sidewalk but their private property. After a decade in the service industry, I found her behavior quite shocking. A simple I didnt realize you were waiting for a table would have sufficed. Thankfully the other server appeared to save us from her attitude so I would still recommend it .

Wow wow wow!! I came here for the first time while I was visiting Toronto last week, and I still cannot get over how delicious it was! I got the Steak and Mushroom Pie and my mom had the Sheppard s Pie and we were both nearly speechless at how good it was. I don t know when I ll be back to the city again but I will absolutely be back here when I am!

Came to eat here when my friend and I were caught in a rainstorm. The restaurant was gorgeous and the staff were super attentive. My friend accidentally spilled her cider and the staff were quick to bring napkins. Everything was great except that the food wasnt anything special. I ordered the southern fried buttermilk chicken sandwich and it was mediocre. I cant really complain about the food though because it is a very traditional pub vibe, and I had a good time otherwise Wheelchair accessibility: There is a patio to sit in out front, however, the washrooms are up a flight of stairs and you have to get up the porch to enter the front door.

Unfortunately this was one of the worst burgers I ve had at a restaurant. Sent back to the kitchen for being overcooked and it came back the same cook. The server was extremely nice so I feel bad, but that burger was extremely dry and just tasted of nothing. A shame cause I ve been here a bunch of times and it s usually great. Not sure what happened with the burger this time :( Chicken sandwich is good though.

First time here on a Saturday evening and had a really enjoyable meal. The server was excellent, the food delicious and the atmosphere welcoming and lively. One of the better meals I ve had in Toronto in a very long time. Everything was flavourful, hot and well prepared and presented. The baker pot pie was exceptional! We will be back.

Lovely gastropub in Cabbagetown. The inside is cozy, and there are two patios! One at the front, and one on the roof (very secluded and quiet). Service is great, and there is a rotating menu. You can order the classics, like a burger or sandwich, or you can get something more gourmet and unique!

Food can be hit or miss but typically good. And good value for the price. Definitely check it out

Love the setting in an old house. Hard to find this kind of place. Service: super good (although you should check the figures on the bill!). Onion soup tasted as if an entire box of salt had been put into it; I should have sent it back (my feeling in a good retaurant is that they will always fix it if something is not up to par just tell them right away: after all, you are paying for good food.). Great fish. I do not care for those little thin fries, especially with fish and chips. They can be dry and boring. Place was packed. A nice place to see very attractive people!

What a great spot. The atmosphere and ambiance really make you feel comfortable and like you are stepping back in time. The food all looks home made and well prepared. I ordered the hanger steak and it was perfectly seasoned. The asparagus were nice and firm and the potato thing was 10/10. Service was also bang on. It s not cheap, but it was worth it for a date night experience.

This place was on Parliament Street and we were looking for a late night spot. We went for dinner there after a party. We ordered food and were waiting for one of our friends but he was feeling nausea and threw up near a bush, but was fine after to enter the restaurant, the lady serving us was rude and did not allow my friend to enter the restaurant when he was completely fine. They also gave us only 3 super small tiny table when they knew we were 6 of us and were going to order appetisers and entree. The food was also average and didn t live up to the expectation of steak. We asked the steak to medium but they gave us rare which was literally in edible. Recommend never to go this place. Seems like this place is a bit racist(not evident ) but we felt discriminated.

OMG, I had the best Cosmopolitan at this place! Came here with a friend and OMG, after 2-3 cosmos I was done for. The bartender made the cosmo really really good (nice and boozy)

The treatment my friends and I received at this pace was discriminatory and disrespectful. Staff made faces while taking our order and denied entry to some of my friends because he went out for a while to get some fresh air. Food was horrible I asked for medium steak and got rare which was inedible. Save your money don t go to the place and ruin your evening.

Fantastic service , Jonathan was so engaging & played with us like we had been long time friends. Other staff were so helpful guiding us to the restrooms & adding to our order. Everyone in our party loved our dinners & drinks. They don t take reservations but that was not a problem for us , it might have been a 15 wait. Nice neighborhood to Visit also.

Parking: Lots of green p street parking, and some side streets. Really depends on the time of day if youll find a spot Wheelchair accessibility: Definitely not super wheelchair accessible, theres a front patio but its up a few steps, and the inside is up an entire set of stairs

Been looking for a place with a solid Sunday Roast and weve found it! Love the food here, also my personal preference is to have Scotch Eggs warm instead of how some pubs serve it cold so that is also a must if thats your standard pub fare. Bangers and Mash was also amazing with excellent sausage choice from Sanagans.

Food and the atmosphere were both ok but they have really awful service . Rude servers and not a high hygiene standard.. I had a bite of the sticky pudding and to my surprise ended up with a piece of glass in my mouth( which I was really lucky thar I didn t swallow) The reaction of the staff was unbelievable, there were like oh ok sorry , like it not a big deal at all ! Will definitely not go back

Great little restaurant/pub. Been coming here for years and the food has always been and is still great. Nice atmosphere as well. The food itself has a bit of that home cooked feel, with the steak and mushroom pie being a personal favorite.

Although there were 9 of us without a reservation, the waiting times for the table at around 9pm on a Friday were not excessive and in any case lower than what was communicated to us by those who received us at the reception. Education, kindness, professionalism and attention have never been lacking. The price is in line with many other places but the quality and above all the variety of choice is really there. The place is not huge and is welcoming, the British style is characteristic. One more point for Guinness. The possibility of paying separate accounts is excellent, especially if prepared immediately. Which is now disappearing in many places. Average price 50 CAD. To which must be added the tip obviously but in this case well deserved. WELL DONE!!! N.B. TIP=TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE!! NOT TO IMPOSE PAYMENT. This is something that is being forgotten in North America and is exploited by many businesses in order not to pay an adequate wage.

I recently discovered House on Parliament and it instantly became a favorite. After a live music show nearby, we were in search of a late-night kitchen and a friend recommended this gem. We called ahead and were pleased to find out they serve food until 11:45 PM. The atmosphere of the pub is welcoming, situated on a main street with convenient street parking. The decor strikes a perfect balance between a cozy spot for dining and a relaxed place for a drink and engaging conversation. The crowd was diverse, with people of various ages enjoying meals or snacks. We ordered nachos and burgers, both of which were delicious, and the service was top-notch our waitress was both friendly and helpful. Im definitely looking forward to returning next time Im in the East End! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free

Now i the the main reason why i get to see a lot of rush all the time irrelevant to the season. Omg the food is sooooo sooo damn good. Fish and Chips are my best, Fried cheese balls, Garlic Egg Parsley were great too. If you are around parliment, give it a try.

I have been coming here since 2010. This place has some of the best pub food in the city! Try the fried chicken sandwich. It is SO good!

Food is good but our server was giving us attitude. Asked for us to hand them our plates, rushed us out by putting the bill on the table.

Arrived today prior to 11am, waiting in line outside. A few people in front. When we went to sit a group of 6 people . I was told the table we began to seat at was reserved. Hostess/Server was short and inconsiderate when I questioned how could this be as nobody was here. She indicated the person came in earlier to reserve, this was 11am. If you state you dont take reservations then why are you? This is a reservation. At minimum there could have been signs on the table to state it was reserved instead of causing what I interpreted to be a negative encounter with one of your staff members. Our Server was attentive.

Awww David, so my understanding is you got a table just not the table you wanted. So you give the restaurant a two star rating, a bit petty no? sounds like you also tried to seat yourself. Get a life man.

A group of us came down from Ottawa for the restaurant show and noted some spots to try while there. House on Parliament was top of mind, as we run a group of pubs. We were sat in the upstairs and were served by the lovely Matthew Middleton (cousin of Kate) and he was top notch. He went along with our annoying restaurant jokes and jabs, he was thoughtful in recommendations, efficient - and I believe our operations manager tried to poach him at one point. Excellent food, excellent experience - well be back next time were in Toronto!

This cozy little pub is a favourite and special place. My wife and I love to frequent all the time. The food is amazing, especially brunch. The staff is always exceptional and they really make you feel welcome.
