Prohibition Social House is located in the heart of the eclectic Riverside District of Toronto. Our offerings include a wide variety of locally sourced cuisine, premium and local draught beers, quality wines and a carefully selected spirit collection to create custom crafted cocktails.
Went there for Sat lunch with bunch of friends. Food was good, staff was nice and service was quick. Had fish & chips (good & not greasy), Thai mussels (quite good, quite spicy) and French toast (equivalent to 2-3 toasts with vanilla ice cream, maple syrup & fruits). Overall found dishes to have good quantity. Ended up $72 for 3 mains.
I had the Prohibition breakfast combo and it was very good. Like I could not complain about anything at all. From the eggs, to the pancake and the bacon, everything was done to perfection (well for my taste buds).
Had the pleasure of attending a birthday dinner here, my first time at this restaurant. Our party had 20 people and a baby and I have to say this restaurant and their staff were very attentive and speedy with the service of such a large party. The group consensus was that the food was excellent and the drinks were great. They offer a stunning selection of local beers and signature cocktails. While I can’t speak for everyone my partner got the pork schnitzel and it was by and far the best he’s had, he raved about it. I got the cranberry, turkey and brie burger and it was wonderful. Overall we really enjoyed this restaurant as a large group and would definitely be planning on coming back! Also the location is phenomenal in the east end with the opera house and Broadview Hotel a short walk away. Thank you for taking care of our large group so well, we will be back. I don’t have any photos, there was just so much chatting and good food that we didn’t take any photos.
Christina our server was amaze balls!!!! One of the best happy hours in the city! Tasty food friendly staff!! Fried oyster mushrooms are da bomb!
Went here before a show at the Opera House. Took advantage of happy hour to enjoy wine and fried calamari. The brisket is smoked in-house and the tacos were so good! Fish tacos were also tasty. I did like the sticky toffee pudding, but it definitely needed more sauce. Service was a little on the slow side, but everyone was still very friendly.
It has a typical brewpub vibe. The food and beer was very good and reasonably priced. I have never heard of a bone-in schnitzel - it was awesome! The fried coating was thick and crispy, it was seasoned beautifully. It came with some veggies that were simple but tasty, also seasoned well. There was some beef gravy on the side for dipping. I didn't need to eat many of the potatoes as the pork portion was so big, but they were cooked well, and were good with gravy. I had their house Folly Gatekeeper IPA and it was quite nice. My daughter (as well as 2 others at the table) had the brisket sandwich and loved it. My wife had the fish tacos and they were fine, but she wasn't in love with them. It was a good experience, I was glad we went - the pork chop is memorable.
Fabulous neighbourhood bar with a very lively environment and friendly staff. Got the lobster Benny and pancakes for brunch. The lobster Benny was a bit too salty but the pancakes with sausage & bacon was very on point. Both dishes were huge and kept me full for the entire day. Most definitely worth checking out if you’re in the neighborhood.
This is one of my favourite spots in the city. You can usually find a spot at the bar even when it’s busy. I really like their steak frites. The service is always good. It’s a fun casual spot to hangout. Recently went for breakfast. I had the salmon Benny. The eggs were cooked perfectly with a nice runny inside. Good coffee too. I don’t love their nachos. I had them and I found the cheese was too far cooked.
Terrible energy do not come here wheb the tile suit dude is working coked out of his mind should be fired tbh staff protecting him probably because they re getting free coke horrible vibe past 11pm
We were here for brunch. Good service and food.
Got food poisoning from their Fish & Chips last night. Experienced extreme bloating at 4hrs after ingestion, then proceeded to vomit my brains out at 5hrs after ingestion.
Good place, we came for drinks with some friends, our waitress Talia super nice and attentive. Then we saw in the web site they have happy hour from 10 to 12 and the Saturday there is a DJ that we loveee the music selection. Was a very good night. Food
Best lunch Ive had in a while
Had a 40th birthday gathering for my wife on Saturday evening. 18 of us. Chris and his staff went above and beyond. Fantastic attention to detail. Fantastic service. Will be back.
Went to the Christmas market! Drove 2 hrs to get there and ate at prohibition! Great nite out with friends order anything off menu and it will arrive hot plentiful and tasty ! . Side note I forgot my cell there and it was safe 2 hrs later upon pickup . With debit card and credit cards undisturbed! Thank you thank you !
Great food reasonably priced. I had fish tacos. Really tasty. A great selection of craft beers. The wait staff, was very gracious and professional.
I ve been wanting to go here for a bit and was a bit underwhelmed. However, it is a great local watering hole for those in the neighborhood.
Always spot on with food and service.
Love the vibe here and they have a fantastic selection on tap!
Very good food I enjoyed the steak and the sticky toffee I had. The food was amazing I would definitely recommend this place.
What a disappointment from server with NO charisma and a manger with an attitude. The server did not ask about any allergies, the menu advised grilled calamari and they said sorry they are fried. My cauliflower bites were breaded, and once I advised the server that I could not eat it, she snapped and said I will get my manager, who was as useless as her with an attitude. The only good thing was the DJ. Prohibition you have lost my entire clan that frequently come there. Change your mannerisms or more of locals will not come back. Imagine I was food critic- Wake up owners who supposedly should know what is going on within.
Great service. Wonderful selection of drinks
Food was phenomenal, service was great and their plates are so nice. Like really really nice. The plates that the food was on actually made me decide to write this entire review in the first place. Amazing job prohibition
Very good service and food decent.
UPDATE: I don t live in the area but this place is worth coming to. Also there are several vehicle dealerships across the street and slightly to the west towards the Don River. If you are having your vehicle serviced, come here to spend your time until your vehicle is ready. I do this everytime my vehicle is being serviced am at the dealership and also on other days with or without my wife and family. Been back here many times since my original review below. Always friendly and great service from all staff. Tried many food options and all have been stellar. Love this place. Thanks Chris, Peter, Sierra, Morgan, David and Leigh. Original review: My daughter and her boyfriend have been here many times as he lives across the street. I was here once 4 months ago for a mid afternoon lunch and celebration with my adult son and we loved it. My wife has always wanted to come here so we came here for lunch and drinks. I made reservations (just in case) for 1:30pm the same morning. We were seated right away by the friendly greeter at the front. Our server was Sierra. She is so kind, helpful and attentive without being bothersome. I asked the bartender a question and he too was very kind. My daughter loves the pesto Gnocchi and recommended it to me knowing I was going there. Everyone around us was having breakfast/brunch type food and the portions were generous, looked great and smelled so delicious. But I ordered the Gnocchi but upon seeing their breakfast/brunch servings, we will be back even though we do not live in this area. My wife ordered the fish and chips. Her portions were huge and she said it was very good. No complaints. My Gnocchi was also very good and I gave my wife a taste and she commented it was fresh and very good. I tasted her fish with tartar sauce and I loved it. I think the tartar sauce was homemade. We had beers and I also had single malt scotch. This pub/bar/restaurant does food sooo good! What a gem of a place. Now I know why when we ve been driving by this place the past few years or so, it was always busy. Thank you Sierra for the wonderful service and the chefs for the quality food.
Their Espresso Martinis are so good! Weekend brunches are also amazing
Here right now. Great food and great service (thanks Kendra!) Came in because I heard the music. It s a live dj (DJ Jordan Andrew) and he s KILLING IT. I meant to leave an hour ago but he keeps spinning fire!
The last few times Ive been there food wasnt great and their IPAs selection is gone. The last time I was there was on the long weekend, and since a month beforethey have no IPAs at all but still have them listed on the menu (Its annoying). For food we ordered arancini and what a disaster, absolutely tasteless, and I had to ask for salt to fix it a little. The pulled pork sandwich was fine but their fries were completely burnt (its not the 1st time weve gotten them dark / burned). My bf and I we normally sit at the bar, and service is usually good and fast, but not this time, the bartender never came and the waiting times for drinks were insane, also nobody mentioned anything about their happy hour, until we asked because we heard another guest talking about it. Prohibition used to be one of my favorite places in the area , I live just across the restaurant. It was amazing to be close to a nice place, with great food, and a great selection of IPAs, but those days seem to be gone.
Brunch at this place was amazing.
Love the vibes! Wish I lived closer so I could be a frequent flyer. Favorite place to visit in the area for a late night by far!
We had great food and good drinks, and enjoyed our time. Portions were enormous. Good service.
I think they are only eager to serve male customers. So, as a female customer I never get a decent service at this place. It s all about those dollars by the gentlemen never get treated well at home ? After waiting 10 mins to be approached by a server I just had to go up to one of the servers to ask if I can get served. Then she gives me an attitude. Get over yourself
Draught lines need attending to. Beer was brutal
Not a bad pubfare place for downtown-ish toronto. Been coming here with my family since I was a kid, remeber loving the duck poutine. Good sign that its still going strong these days, but as not much has changed since then, the decor feels a little outdated. Food is good overall, no complaints, service is always quick and friendly.
Keep coming here for the good service and even better nachos
Great burger
Good food, good service, clean, inviting. Excellent for groups. Pricey though. Vegetarian options: Vegy burger. Dont know about the rest.
Great food, great service. Loved it
Great spot, friendly waitress and great food. We had oysters and the red snapper with risotto. It tasted really great. Has a fun vibe to the place.
Great great food. The cob salad was so tasty and well plated. I had the brisket burger, it was very good. Highly rate this place!
Gastropub essentials
I love this place but . Their happy hour wine is limited to Rose and a super sweet white. No Pinot Gris No Chardonnay on Happy Hour. Don t bother.
I probably go to Prohibition 2x per month. The store next door is a pot shop and almost every time I visit the restaurant, there are these skanky pot smokers, whom I assume are pot shop employees, standing beside the restaurant entrance. You have to walk through a fog of weed smoke to get into the restaurant. Solution: Hire a doorman and give these little losers a slap if they smoke out the customers.
Great menu well executed. Mussels in Calabrese sauce were excellent with one hell of a kick.
Not sure if our server was having a bad day but her sass was a total turn off for our party. Food was good. The experience however could have been better.
Great food and service. Best burger in town and a nice beer selection.
The food wasnt very good, but it was expensive. Had some small server troubles, not a huge deal. We went once, we tried it and will probably choose other places moving forward.
This was a pleasant discovery. Food was excellent from the crab cakes to salmon to schnitzel to brisket. The staff was friendly and service was great. We will be back.
The brunch menu is basic but has good quality food. Great staff!
Ive heard so many great things about this spot over the years...a Toronto staple supposedly. Unfortunately, I went to a Super Bowl get together here which was probably the wrong play. We grabbed the nachos which were a failing grade to me. We asked for extra cheese, as Im always paranoid with cheesy stinginess at bars for nachos. 70% of the nachos were completely bare and there was zero flavor. They didnt even have salsa! The arancini balls were pretty good, even though theyre not usually my thing. The service was pretty poor. We had a big group who were constantly ordering drinks and food and yet we had to consistently track down our server if we wanted something. The kick in the teeth came when we ordered a round of tequila and the server brought us fireball....not a happy surprise!! And then to supposedly make up for the error, she brought us four shots of tequila when there was 10 of us. Sucks for the other six I guess. Look, theres probably a better experience in here on a non Super Bowl night, but it really wasnt that busy so Im not sure why it was such a dud.
Sirloin tacos are superb, as well as the fish and chips. Chris the manager is outstanding.
Chris was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The food was stellar and so delicious. The music kind of ruined the vibe, it was far too loud for casual discussion and the DJ wasnt taking requests, and didnt seem to even know the music we were requesting, but overall it was a fantastic experience, would definitely go back next time Im in Toronto
Really great gastropub with an excellent beer selection including a few house brews and delirium on draught! The food is quite decent and the staff are very friendly. Lots of TVs and seating. Had a late lunch and dinner with a few beers so the bill came to around $400 for 2 people. You could probably get away spending around $40-50
Me and family had: Pork Snichtzel: Delicious, side veggies with a lot of flavor and pork was awesome. Gnocchi: taste, texture and flavor. Looks like fresh made. Mac & Chesse: My daughter finished the whole kids portion (good size) even se had already had dinner before. Chicken/Waffle: 3 Pieces of fried chicken was really good. Waffle flavor was much better with the maple Food was really tasty. Good size portions. Remarkable service and experience. Definitely a place to visit again.
AMAZING FOOD! Thanks for a great night out.
Great place for dinner and drinks.
Great food and service, great place to watch sports.
Great dining and social place.
We were served by Megan, who was extremely friendly and kind. Our margaritas were delicious and the beyond meat burger was the perfect vegetarian options! I will say, $3 for a slice of cheese on the burger was ridiculous! And it was the thinnest slice Will be back though! Vegetarian options: Not the best variety, but definitely some options!
Was here a few weeks ago for a small gathering. Its really noisy, first off. Second, the prices for food and non alcoholic drinks are absurd. My wife and I had an app each and 1 drink each while there, and our bill was over 60$ with tip!? Thats just nuts. It also took about 10 min to get my Gingerale, which is absolutely ridiculous. Probably wont be back.
Great cocktails and a good vibe. Perfect spot for an afternoon drink or a late night meet up
We ve had our work Christmas party here two years in a row and have really enjoyed it both years. The staff are so friendly and the food was tasty.
Great spot on Queen east Burger fries pint Hit the spot
A friend and I visited on a slightly busy Wednesday night, we both work in the service industry and understand the struggle of greeting tables and how it can sometimes become overwhelming, however there was a table of men who were seated after us, and were greeted and served, meanwhile our server had not greeted us at all yet. Again, I understand the struggle when it gets busy and wanted to wait as we still wanted to dine in, but after nearly TWENTY minutes with no service, we got up and left. Very upsetting as I had enjoyed one previous experience here but will not be coming back.
I had, and will continue to enjoy this spot! Great service, happy hour drinks, and the atmosphere on Fri/Sat nights....chefs kiss
Really good and interesting food! I had the Smoked Brisket Sando with soup (Moroccan type soup). Absolutely delicious. Service was perfect! Our server was Kaitlyn. Atmosphere was very lively. We are here just before a concert at the Opera House and it was an awesome way to start off our evening. Will definitely go back!
Absolutely a fantastic experience! To start the staff were amazing and helped our group build a sharing order. We got the Ribeye, Artesian Salad, Fish Tacos, Charcuterie Board and the Burrata. The atmosphere was perfect for a group of friends catching up, everything was clean and the staff were honest and super helpful. Our entire group loved everything about this place and it is going to become a regular spot for us. The Shareable Ribeye and Fish Tacos are must orders. Cant wait to come back!
I went with my Fraternity brother from 20 years ago and we had a blast. Hipsters were a little rude but the dance floor later in the night was fun.
We arrived on a Friday at 5pm without a reservation and there were lots of tables available even though the venue appeared busy. The environment was great and we were seated quite quickly. I got a draft that was on rotation, which was a stout. It was good. After a reasonable time with my drink the server fog our order. We decided to share the nachos and a beet salad. Im not going to lie, they were both better than expected. The value was there and that was also unexpected. We were checked on through the meal but interrupted for the most part. It was perfect. This was our first visit and probably our last a we dont live close by, but if we did, we would frequent it regularly. Oh, the draft was $5.75 before 6 pm, so there that as well.
While our first experience about a year and a half ago was not great, they have changed management and tonight was amazing! Pictured is our Redneck Platter for TWO and not only was there more food than we could finish, but everything on it was SOOOO good. We were in for an early dinner, so double bonus, it was Hooch Hour, 5-7 p.m., where a few wines, all the beers and rail drinks were $5.09. Usually rail drinks are the cheapest alcohol but not here! Botanist gin, Grey Goose vodka, Glenlivet, and many more. Totally impressed! We had a great time.
Went here yesterday with a friend. Drinks are cheap, you get what you paid for. It was Saturday night so music was blasting and it was packed for sure. Tables could have been wiped and bathroom could have been cleaner. All in all, you get what you deserve when you visit a bar on queen street. Would go back though.
We had a going away party with around 50 people for dinner at Prohibition. Chriswelle did a fantastic job of organizing, communicating, and making the night go by super smooth. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent! I would highly recommend for a simple night out or for a larger celebration!
DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE! Fun for drinks.
The food was good, we had a Wonderful time with my friends, especially because you can dance, we werent expecting this so this was our highlight at the end of the night!
One of the best bars Ive been to in Toronto, and Ive been in T.O. for over 20 years. The staff is amazing. Perfect balance of super friendly and professional. And if you dont know, easily the most cost effective happy hour special that youll ever experience. This is a bar with damn good eats and rightly so. If you want volume and goodness, go Pork Schnitzel. If you want one of the most tasty mac and cheese, order it here. Four cheeses! Prohibition burger is solid, but Im a glutton so I add bacon and blue cheese to the burger and when they ask if I want to replace the cheddar, I say no. I want both. Salad wise: the Cobb is one of the best in the city. Fish tacos, flatbreads, cauliflower bites, and the wings are my other standard orders that are always great. Also lovely, is the Parm fries with gravy. Delish!
First time here, and I had a very enjoyable Friday evening at Prohibition Social House with old friends. Love the atmosphere, the craft beer, friendly service, and I had an absolutely delicious meal. Definitely a place I would recommend to friends for drinks and food. Plenty of street parking too for those who have to drive.
The reason why Im so disappointed is that its 2023 and a place like this should have a way more inclusive menu for people who cant have gluten. There were no options at all! Not even a gf bun substitute. Even the chicken burger had bread in it. Its incredibly easy to add gf options to a menue. We shouldnt have to leave to go to subway next door to get something we can order.
Go to spot for brunch when in the area. Found the chicken and waffles a bit lacking on the last visit. Other items are top notch. Definitely better than the other more hip spots in the area.
I have been going to prohibition for over 13 years. The food today was good and well presented. Service was on point and friendly. I had the brisket beef sandwich which was nice. Supposed to come with either fries or salad, but I asked for grilled veggies (that added an extra $2, but it was a large portion). Either way it was tasty. I also had 2 beers. My friend had the steak and said it was great. The menu is not as well rounded as it use to be before the Pandemic, but I appreciate that it s still here, even though it s under new management.
If youre going to take anything away from this comment section, let it be this. Get The French Onion Soup. Other food was great also, but this soup though.
Fish and chips with tartar sauce is on point. Service was pleasant but slow. Atmosphere was upbeat but nothing special. Food
So much good things about prohibition. I dont live near downtown. Anytime Im in the east end, I will always go to prohibition. Their food never fails. Very very consistent. I love the IPA beer they have.... My favorite.
Went for brunch on Easter Sunday. Food was prepared well, and portions were generous. The menu was a bit limiting for brunch items, especially if you are avoiding meats. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
Always a great time and delicious meal here! Mimosas on the weekend (orange or grapefruit flavours) paired with their brunch menu is our favourite time to visit. Their chicken and waffles and Bennys are delicious. Service is always speedy, attentive and pleasant. In the summer they have a great patio to enjoy. Paid parking along the street, but a GreenP parking lot is around the corner as well. Weekends get very busy, so a reso is always recommended but you might get in without if youre a small party. Vegetarian options: Some items can be made vegetarian and they also have vegetarian options. Service is great and will do their best to accommodate.
Good knowledgeable staff and a comfortable hang Sadly, the last time here, my friends were ill after having the mussels. Food : 1/5
Love this spot, go to place in the area! Sierra was our server for the night and provided some of the best service I ve had in the city. Sierra and Brenna are always familiar faces that make coming to this local bar worth while
Good food and service. Street parking. Recommended.
I haven t had a food I don t like at this restaurant, from brunch to lunch and dinner menu. All very yummy selections. The staff is welcoming and friendly!
Hooch Hour from 3-6PM is still one of the best deals in the city.
Great food and ambiance at the Prohibition Social House. We had the oysters and soup of the day with prosecco and beer - a nice combo for first timers like us. The brisket sandwich was amazing, very tasty, well cooked and well presented, went well with the California wine recommended by our server. Will certainly come back when we are in the neighborhood.
Great service, good food, reasonable prices, very clean, great to watch sports
Wonderful food, staff and ambience.
This review is so late because Im an amazing procrastinator and refuse to change my ways. But went here after as a post-runclub refueling session with some friends and had a great time. Service was amazing, food was delicious and we had the most delightful human being as a server by the name of VICTORIA. She was attentive without being to overbearing and she managed a busy Saturday brunch with ease and a smile. The manager was also really great, stopped by to make sure our table was doing OK and for some witty banter (I dont remember his name aaaahh!!). Reservation were easy to make and it was a topnotch spot to spend a Saturday catching up with friends and stuffing out faces.
Went here for a work drink on Thursday afternoon. It was me and 1 other person. I had just told them how great it was and how the food was amazing. Well, lets just say who ever was working called me a liar. We walked in to a dead establishment maybe 3 others in the place. Wasnt shown a table or greeted for sometime. Finally got menus after sitting for 25 minutes. When we ordered it took a hit minute for drinks to arrive. Given the horrible start we decided not to get food. When we were finally checked on after ordering q drink it was about 35 maybe 40 minutes. Now if this place had 1 person working and it was busy I would get it. Nope 2 ppl at the bar folding cutlery 2 others across the bar just chatting. Not checking now working if you ask me. It is what it is. I wont be returning.
great local pub vibe. Best fried cauliflower Ive ever had. A bit pricey for a pub, but thats Toronto.
Really pleased with this establishment and will be returning. Would love to see some more low / non-alcoholic beer options on the menu. Vegetarian options: The buffalo coliflower wings were excellent
Thank you for well balanced plate Enough greens in each plates Food was fantastic Portion was good Atmosphere was fun specially for teens Price was fair Location convenient right by don valley Service good Must GO !
Just came back from a spontaneous date night. The service was incredible and the food + drinks were yummy. Ordered the Mac&Cheese and it was too spicy for us. They took it off the bill. We will be back!!!
Good price, good portions, amazing taste. Totally recommended.
I ve been here a few times having lived really close by, however, our service tonight was unparalleled. Lauren was extremely knowledgeable and was able to talk about the different dishes I was pondering on and made the absolute BEST suggestion. Her energy was soo positive and she just made the experience much more enjoyable. I can say without a doubt that the next time I come for dinner, I will be calling ahead of time to make sure I can sit in Lauren s section.
Been here half a dozen times for brunch, good value for money. When it gets busy service can be lacking but I find anywhere on the east right now has that issue.
Tasty food !)
Variety of options, tastes great and plenty of food!
Went for a late lunch, the food was very good, and so was the service, Sierra ( I hope I have her name right) was great to deal with. Had the Guacamole n Chips also the brisket beef tacos. The patio atmosphere was very nice, I heard there is live music at times in this place, and I intend to return when live music is around.
Great pub food, great atmosphere, wonderful staff.
Great restaurant in the east toronto area, enjoyed many meals here, steak and fries is the best, the salmon portion seemed a bit small but this place delivers on all other aspects.
Chill vibes and awesome service
Great bar, with proper tequila shot pours. I recommend for some late night drinking
We always have a good experience here. I like their new back patio which is at the back away from the rush of Queen st. Servers are super awesome and friendly to our dog and baby, and Jill is lovely. There is happy hour beer and wines, food is good too.
I recently had a birthday party at Prohibition with approx 20 guests & everything was exactly what I d requested. Thanks so much to the manager & staff for a great evening!!!
Great drinks and ok food, had to rate one star as they only offered me a choice between still and sparkling water (I chose still) and then charged me $7. Disappointed that the server didn t mention the charge or offer tap to us
Great spot... nice to pop into.
Went here for a friends birthday last Friday and the service was exceptional. Our main server was efficient, knew everyones names, and super friendly. Considering there were at least 22 people, she kept up well and the people who helped her were great too. My friend seemed really impressed by the service, too. The people around me seemed to love the food, but I didnt have anything (would have if they would have had more vegan options - I recall only guac and chips, maybe a Beyond Meat burger (but it didnt say it was vegan).
Delicious food and local microbrew suds in a cheerful and cozy environment. Loved it and expect to go back. Also, nice back patio in summer with a view of the nearby dog park.
Jerk cauliflower soup appetizer was fantastic (spicier than I anticipated). Mushroom pesto gnocchi was tasty as well. Good selection of beer too :)
Great food and service, but there is no justification for 2 burgers and 2 drinks to cost $90
Took hubby and kids for brunch here on Fathers Day 2023. Price was most certainly very reasonable. For 4 adults and a child, our total bill came to $140. Patio was nice. Food, service and atmosphere were representative. Will attempt to return on a random day for brunch or dinner to give it another try.
I cant rate it a 5 like I usually do. Granted we went at 3pm in between lunch and dinner and just wanted a beer and nachos. The servers tried very hard to upsell the cocktails, something every Toronto restaurant seems to be doing lately. It getting kind of tired. We asked for the nachos and they tried to suggestive sell chicken brisket and guac. Did you want the chicken brisket or Guac or both. It was not listed on the menu but the way they said it was as if it was included. I asked is it included and the answer we got was, its an option. When asked how much extra is the option, we were told, a couple of bucks. We just asked for what was on the menu and stuck with no sneakily charged options The tricky suggestion upselling did not work. The nachos when they arrived were very tasty and generously dressed for 1/3rd of the tray. Smaller serving than prior pandemic, but that has been expected from restaurants lately. 2 stars for management for probably putting pressure on staff to sneakily upsell items. I could have been interested in the chicken brisket if they would have just said for an extra $$$ you can add brisket. That would have been more honest. Even McDonalds dropped the fries with that option. Overall, the server was very nice outside the push to sell.
I hosted a corporate event here. Ashley and Sierra were super awesome and helpful! Would come back for sure!!!
Place is amazing and definitely on my rotation when I feel like eating out. Definitely try the Cobb salad, worth it!!!
Got to enjoy some nice brunch here. I highly suggest their chicken and waffles!
My partner and I frequent Prohibition and service is always great. I recently lost my wallet there and Ashley their GM went above and beyond to find me on social media to make sure I was reunited, which I cannot be more thankful for! If you re looking for a bar in the east end, Prohibition will never disappoint!
Good service fast and friendly staff.. Shareable appetizers....only no half price appetizers which I was a bit surprised at otherwise everything was great. Loads of beer options. Food
Had a brunch with my friend. We loved the place. There was a LOT of food on the plate :) I loved that and we spent more than hour chatting at those booths. Food
Great restaurant Great staff
Went for brunch with my partner and we very much enjoyed our food and drinks, although he did say that the breakfast poutine has gotten much smaller than when he has had it in the past. I had the Breakfast Combo which was plenty of food. It would have been a five star experience except my $16 cocktail was taken away before I had finished. I was quite disappointed, having not realized the waitress had taken it until she was too far away to say anything. This would have been saved with an apology and even just a mini size of a similar drink to make up for it, but when she came back to the table and we mentioned it she got defensive instead, even holding up her fingers to show how much was left in the glass, to argue that we were done. Eventually she did offer, I guess I could make you something else, but it wouldnt be the same. This would have been a fine resolution if originally offered but the way she responded left a sour taste for us.
Good food and good service.
Great place for a proper drink.
Best buttermilk pancakes for brunch!
Its fine as a place for a drink, but I wouldnt come here for the food. Boring menu, over priced.
Had a really nice dinner there yesterday. Cocktails and food were delicious, but it was the service that really stood out. I wish I had taken down the waitress name to give her credit.
Came here for brunch with my boyfriend last weekend and we really enjoyed our time! Our server Jackie was so lovely and was really helpful with the menu and recommendations!
Food was really good but the service was better. I forgot my water bottle when I left and our hostess caught me down the street to return it. Thanks again - very much appreciated!
Amazing place with a great atmosphere, but more importantly, great service
We found this place on open table looking for a nicer casual night out. Prohibition Toronto fit the bill! We started with the brisket poutine which was fantastic. We shared the Mushroom Pesto Gnocchi which was also fantastic. For cocktails, we had a Negroni and Old Fashioned, both of which were amazing including a perfect cube of ice, a detail always appreciated with a cocktail! Our server Megan was super friendly and attentive, and Chris who made our drinks even came to the table to check on the drinks. Highly recommend for the ambiance, food, and cocktails!
Had the nachos. Totally different than I was expecting but very yummy
Very good food and great service
This place is amazing! Great service! Food is always on point and very reasonable prices!
Kind staff, amazing atmosphere. Good prices, considering its what I consider a Toronto gem and their portions are huuuuge. They do not skimp. Service was lovely and I loved the feel of the place. We were seated in the front and had wonderful privacy. There was no draft coming from the amazing window that looks like it rolls up in the summer. 4 outta 5 stars because: - They missed the shells (and as someone who grew up on a farm with free range eggs this just kinda turned me off since I collect poop covered ones daily). I did mention this to staff who were shocked and apologetic and offered to get the manager. I declined as Id eaten most of it happy and the shell wasnt touching most of my food. My lovely friend bought my lunch by surprise so I dont know if it was taken off the bill. - My eggs were also super done despite asking for them to be soft on the brekkie poutine, which was otherwise really, really good! - My mimosa was all orange juice. Like dont get me wrong Im sure there was *some* bubbly in there, but it was very minimal. I am sure another visit would mean a 5 star review and I hope for the chance to try them again.
Great pub/bar vibe as well as a great dining experience.
The food was delicious. The presentation, looked great! The waitress, was talking with other co-workers. Not really paying attention to the table, she was designated. Its all good though! Food
Very good clean a bit out dated. Hope they can remove the back bar stand alone so we can have more seating. Been there for a long time. The main bar is good. DJs sucks need improvement in that department. Other than this, its a great place for some good food and drinks with friends.
We enjoyed a wonderful, romantic, fun dinner at the Prohibition and loved it! Didnt have a reservation but were seated quickly and made to feel special. The hosts, servers and the manager were all very kind and helpful. Helped us choose a wine and answered our questions about the food. The food was amazing, really exceeded all of our expextations! The portions were very generous, food was freshly made, very well presented too. Will def. come back when we visit Toronto.
Nice food in a cute pub style restaurant. I ordered the beyond meat burger and it was served to me raw at first and the waitress didn t come back to check on it until after my sister had finished all of her food. But they remade it and it was much better the second time, I guess just make sure if you re ordering the vegan burger to ask for it well done, even if it s not meat you don t want to eat it raw.
Wonderful service and food, definitely my go to bar spot while Im waiting for my damn car to be serviced.
Food and service was great! On weekdays, their last call for food is 10:30pm and me, my spouse and 7 friends of ours made it just in time to place our food orders. Highly recommend their cocktail menu, I ordered the Worst Behaviour because I m into fruity drinks. Their burrata and tuna tartare were also great starters. My veggie burger however, was a little disappointing, not the biggest fan of how thick the patty was and it tasted different from the veggie patties I usually have from other restaurants- it had a weird aftertaste.
I had the gnocchi. It was fine but underwhelming for its price range. The service was fantastic. The DJ was fantastic, but the music was way too loud. Three out of five of us got a headache from it and we just could not hear each other despite the yelling. I dont know if we were sitting near the speakers or what, but Id lower it a couple notches down.
Great place in Riverside for a nice pint and decent food. Have loved their Cobb salad for years. It was better in the old days when they used pulled chicken but its still decent. Lively, friendly atmosphere. Bug thumbs up!
Service was beyond bad. They think they are doing you a favor for bringing you food and drinks. Beer was lukewarm, food was fine only takes 45 mins to arrive. Expensive and bad. Wont return.
We had a very pleasant time in this place, from the good atmosphere, the good service and the delicious food prepared by the wonderful and super friendly chef Gerardo, who goes out of his way to make sure that every customer leaves this place with a good taste in their mouth Congratulations to him will be back soon!
Sunday brunch. Prompt and friendly service even with a mid-large group of hung(over)ry diners. Description of the wet burrito was appetizing, but the product left much to be desired. Dry, flaky shell with a tiny side of sauce and sour cream, grey mystery meat and poorly seasoned overall. I had immediate order envy when I saw the fish and chips and burgers arrive at my table. A wet burrito is supposed to be served piping hot and smothered in sauce and cheese. Its a hangovers best mate. 5 stars for our servers, 2 stars for the. plate. One star back for the delicious Cauliflower bites. Its a great vibe, a lovely room and we had a very good overall experience. But dang... Fix that BURRITO!
6 guest, 5 loved their food, service good, and hostess pleasant and knowledgeable. The disappointment was the burrito, it lacked in flavor, the tortilla was plain/dry and not grilled marked, no pico de gallo on top as described in menu, it was replaced with a few strands if shredded lettuce which added to the dryness and the crema was sticky not very creamy. Absolutely terrible!
Amazing place. Great beer, great food. Brisket poutine is out of this world.
Always delicious Great service! The atmosphere is super Moody and fun .Great music and I highly recommend the pulled pork poutine and the bread pudding with ice cream
It wasnt very busy but even so, service was very slow. Food and atmosphere were great.
Good spot for drinks and dinner. Had the burger which was delicious, fries were only okay, a little under seasoned did my taste. Service was really good considering we had a table of 14 people. Would recommend and would go back if in the area again.
Mac and chesse was alright. Wings (medium) were delicious. Quantity was a little less but tasted great. Worst behaviour cocktail and night at the roxbury were amazing. Service was quick. Would love to return
Always a good time at Prohibition. The Friday night DJ are always spinning great tunes. The staff is very friendly and the crowd is great.
