256 Augusta Ave, Toronto, ON M5T 2L9, Canada
Easygoing counter-serve eatery with patio serving Berlin-style kebabs & currywurst, plus beer.
Best German Döner in Toronto! Huge portions and the service is very good. Highly recommended!
Really great doner and currywurst! Don't skip the halloumi routine, a delicious twist on a Canadian classic.
I want to like this place and I've given it a couple chances, but it's not authentic Berlin. My wife is from Berlin. I've been many times. The bread on the Döner is not right and the veggies not as good as any in Berlin. I was excited for currywurst, but it should be lighty breaded and deep fried. The curry sauce is good. Also their bier ist von Munich. It's hard to get Berlin bier in Kanada, but there are some brewery here making Berlin weiss. They never get it right. It's supposed to be weak and sour, so you put a sweet shot in it.
I saw the branch at Waterworks before and thought it looked good so stopped by the Kensington Market location. The staff were pleasant and nice enough to bring the food. I had the lamb & veal donair with a side of fries + 15% tip. Came to $27.16. The presentation was good but it was such a pain eating this thing. So messy, and for some reason they brought one napkin and no cutlery. I didn’t really enjoy the taste, fries were dece. Nice area, cool staff, but I won’t be returning.
The price of a veal & lamb + feta comes up to about $19. I was a bit apprehensive yet when i bit into this monster i was 🤯 blown away with taste and layers of texture 🤤 Price is a bit steep even compared to other doner options nearby yet taste is 🔥
Decent spot for a bite to eat if your are craving a meat sandwich that different a bit from the ubiquitous Shawarma. Definitely messy to eat, but tasty nonetheless.
I’ve been meaning to try the food here for a while and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The portion sizes were great, staff were friendly and I also got a free glass for ordering a pint (for a promo they were running). Overall definitely stop by here if you’re in Kensington Market and looking for a German-Turkish classic!
My order: Veal and lamb doner with a side of halloumi sticks I had been here in the past (6-7 years ago) and decided to pop in to see if it was as good as I remembered. Turns out, it was even better than I remember! The portion of the doner is really good value and the lamb and veal was so full of flavour this review was getting 5 stars no matter what. Today was my first time getting the halloumi sticks and, while tasty on their own, the aioli they came with put the entire meal over the top and made me wish there was a 6th star I could add to this rating. Will definitely visit again and I'd also like to apologize to my past self for not stopping in sooner!
Located n the middle of Kensington market, Otto s Döner has a welcoming atmosphere, where you will definitely enjoy one of your best Döner Sandwiche. Meat is delicious and well balanced with delicious sauces. Loved it, see you soon.
best kebab Toronto
Since October 2024, a German star chef has been responsible for the kebabs in the store and you can taste it. The man is doing a great job and still has a few perfecting ideas that will be implemented soon. So for a kebab outside of Germany, this is on a high level. The atmosphere is also cool because German music is played (Cro, Zartmann etc.) in December there are special events with mulled wine and hopefully soon there will also be Paulaner Spezi (Club Mate already exists)
Amazing place and great german Glühwein, made me feel like home again.
Good restaurant
The beer and veg doner was amazing. The fries tasted like fresh cut fries. The sandwich was excellent and the German beer on tap was a nice addition.
Total trash. Ordered the chicken doner with fries. Got a fry sandwich. Wont be back
Oct 2024 update: this place has a new owner or chef now and the quality of the food has deteriorated. You used to get a lot more toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, red cabbage). I got one last night and it was maybe half what it used to be. They also use less sauce now. I d get all three sauces and I could taste each throughout, but last night the whole thing was dry. There was barely one sauce on it, let alone three. And the dumbest thing of all, they no longer have doner holders (I.e. taco holders). These used to make eating these way more enjoyable and easier. Apparently they took those away because the new chef/owner didn t like it. Totally whack. So yeah this place is kinda crap now which makes me truly sad. Been a customer since they opened, won t be back or recommend it again. My fav quick eat spot in the city. Interior could be a lil nicer, but it is in an old house and that s normal for Kensington so no big deal there. Remember to take an extra napkin though, so some reason they usually only give you one and if you re getting a pita that ain t enough.
As a German I can say. The most authentic Döner experience in Canada so far. I gave this place another try after some months and the new changes they apparently made in the way of filling the Döner are game changing, paired with some lovely German music! Finally the focus seems to be on the taste and not only in the presentation ( they used to put way to much lettuce and drizzles on top which made it a messy and unauthentic experience). . Thank you, I will be back.
Veggie one, awesome
I was really hyped when I saw this authentic Berlin Döner but as a german I can tell the Döner cant catch up with a real Berlin Döner. First of all it was such a small Döner for such 10 Euros and I got 3 Sauces included to the Döner Chicken, but all I can see was no delicious white or red sauces, I just had some Oil and Vinegar on it, and to be honest the amount of vegetables you put on this small thing is humongous like wtf, I didnt felt like they had it from a traditional Döner Spieß, because the meat pieces were very small and had a weird taste. All in all the Döner wasn t bad but you cant compare it to a Berlin Döner, what the restaurant wants to be known for, Authentic Berlin Döner . And like I said my expectations were really good because inside the decoration was pretty cool and they even played Kraftklub which I liked to be honest, but its just not very good
The halumi grilled cheese döner is just amazing!
if you are looking for a warm atmosphere and delicious food, I definitely recommend it.
The döner was super filling and tasted amazing. The food came out quickly and was hot, not much more you can ask for.
Came in for just a chicken doner with all the trimmings which was pretty well priced for the area. Didnt wait long, and got a massive portion. Tasted great, will come back again another time!
Best Doner in Canada
Best German Döner I ate in Toronto. Along with German music and nice atmosphere its one of the best places to dine in Toronto. Food
Lukas @ Kensington outlet is the best!! Probably the best, tastiest & healthy sandwich I have ever eaten. A must go for food connesseurs ! Food : 5/5
I ve always had a great experience at Otto s. Food is great and generous portion. Friendly staff and quick service.
This place changed over the years. 2 years ago food was awesome now not so tasty.
The chef is great. The receptionist Yair is a great seller and the food is awesome. Sometimes different from the traditional shawarma but with great seasoning. Excellent place to eat.
One of our favourite spots at Kensington. We discovered the place about 7 years ago and have been returning regularly ever since. The veal and lamb doner sandwich is consistently good and the staff is friendly and efficient.
Im German and have to be honest and say that it wasnt the worst kebab Ive ever eaten, but the only original thing about the kebab was the paper. The meat was not kebab meat and was super greasy. The staff were very nice and the place is cozy, but the music was very loud. All in all, though, it was okay. In Germany we say: Vallah schmeckt nicht.
Second time getting a doner at this place, the service as usual is awesome, the food even better, would love to see them introduce more dishes though
Wonderful staff
I tried the Halloomi Döner and LOVED it! Vegetarian options: I walked past this place for ages, thinking there would be nothing for me. I was wrong! Vegan and vegetarian options are available! Food : 5/5 |
For $16, I got a burnt sausage on fries. Not sure how its even possible to burn the sausages that much, unless cook forgot about it on the grill. Rip off tbh.
Shoutout to the man working at 4:38pm on Friday. He protected us from a strange homeless man from LA who was very aggressive. Thank you for making us feel safe and the mimosas were fire
Over-priced for such quality
The chicken teller mixed with Halloumi with fries, salad, and all three sauces is honestly incredible! Weve been getting Ottos at least once a month for about a year now and they never disappoint. So much love for this place and their consistent quality!
If you are from Berlin you ll be disappointed. The lamp is really chewy
The place has a new owner and unfortunately does not hold up to any of the high quality standards of a German Döner anymore. They do not cut the fresh, juicy and crispy meat fresh from a rotisserie grill but cut it somewhen during the day and hold it warm for noone knows how long. Moreover, they are also not having fresh home made bread but a dry looking pita. As a German I feel offended by how they are not respecting what a Döner really is.
Amazing food, can t wait to try here again
covering dark fries with a little bit of beef and selling it 25$ with an ayran. not worth it. a cheap minded place. will never go again. Food : 2/5
Overall, I had a really good experience here. I would say the only reason I gave four out of five stars instead of 5 out of 5 was because even though I ate in I still got to takeout package and it was somewhat needless waste that was created because of that. Other than that the food was great. I definitely recommend getting all of the sauces and getting the döner
This place has consistently tasty sandwiches that are reasonably priced with large portions. It can get quite busy so sometimes its hard to get a seat.
that s not a german döner !!!!
Since they switched owners wow has the quality gone horrible. Considering I used to work there and I know what a sandwich is supposed to look like/smell like/ taste like from there. Ordered a halloumi sandwich on Uber and they gave me a pile of rotten romaine - like two sprigs of cabbage . Rotting cucumber and tomato but like three tiny diced cubes of each lol. And then refried disgusting inedible fries . Like I m talking so bad the sandwich had to be thrown out it smelt so rotten absolutely disgusting
Chicken doner Not tasty fries was ice cold
The restaurant is beyond amazing and the costumer service was stunning. Felt the classic feel of dining with numerous menu options.
Great place to dine in at Downtown Toronto
Hostile environment, with less curtesy towards customers than I ve seen in my time. Mid to rotted food, mid management as seen.
I had tasted the Halloumi sandwich. It is one of the best sandwiches in Toronto And should mention the service offered which was commendable. Wi sure visit again Food
Had been to this place with my wife today and the food was just awesome. We had ordered chicken doner teller box with fries and Salad. The fries were super crispy . It was worth the price paid.
One of the best Döner outside of Germany. I didnt have a Döner for a very long time and it was great. It took me right back to my usual Kebab place back home. Would highly recommend. (Edit: Grammar)
As a Berliner, this unfortunately does not come close to traditional German Döner. Sauces are authentic but meat is more like a Gyro.
Halloumi wrap was delicious, as always. Service was fantastic! Such a nice gentleman. Vegetarian options: Halloumi
Went multiple times and the food is yummy every time. They also have German beers.
The food was super tasty, we had the vegetable kebab and the haloumi kebab and we were both thrilled. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Vegetarian options: The Halumi kebab was very good. The vegetable kebab was also very good and even vegan. There was also a vegan aioli.
Honestly I LOVED their food! Not 100% like in Berlin but most definitely close enough. They served hacker helles as paulaner Weißbier and vice versa BUT she said she ll fix it so I thought id still give 5 stars just because everything was really great! Highly recommend this place just cause of flavour and super nice staff!!
As delicious as ever!! It was hit-and-miss for a while, but its good again now. Food : 5/5
Amazing Döners, better than some I had in Germany, friendly staff who help us accommodate a group of 12. Paulaner on tap is also great! Real Berlin kebab, Paulaner always on tap. Man can eat. I can recommend.
The doner here is great. I went with my partner, who hails from France and has high expectations for a great doner. He says it s good, so I personally love it. The fries are fantastic too.
Absolutely love the teller boxes, the sauces just blend with the way they cook their chicken, I would recommend all three of their sauces. Their service for a small business is absolutely top notch however I do wish their disco bathroom stalls worked heard a lot of hype around them.
Delicious and fantastic customer service!! :)
Sridhar, was amazing helpfully with his service.
Been coming to Ottos for years. One of the few places that have maintained their food quality post-pandemic. Prices have understandably increased a bit. Excellent lunch spot, healthy portions, great taste, and lots of options. Please keep it up! So few donor places stay consistent in Toronto.
All I can say is wow!
Im German and today I had a super authentic Berlin Döner experience. Living in canada I was craving this for so long and today we found it! THANK YOU Food
As good as ever
One of the best places to have Doner. The chicken is flavorful and perfectly cooked. I would definitely come back here to try more dishes
Food is good but it doesnt taste like German doner kebab. Its more like shawarma... A lot to improve to match the real German doner kebab taste.
The bread is just toooo good! Must try for sure.
the yummiest food in all of Toronto Vegetarian options: halloumi sticks are the best option. even better than the meat options Food : 5/5 |
Bread, sauce and veggies are fresh and great. The meat is good quality, however food does does lack consistency and respectful preparation. quantity/thickness of meat cuts are inconsistent, sometimes too little meat, sometimes too thick cuts of the meat. You can tell that theres employees rotating, with some lacking training or experience. The curry ketchup is too complicated which left me kinda disappointed, German curry ketchup is actually very simple to replicate: Ketchup + curry powder stirred together until its a consistent mass. Thats it! Theres no price on great quality, however given the lack of a consistent preparation, Id say charging $14 for a Döner is way too much and youre better off getting a whole shawarma combo at osmows for that money. I would have given 4 stars if they didnt aim for the authentic Berlin experience which they ultimately failed to deliver. - 1 star for lack of consistency - 1 star for claiming what they arent (an authentic Berlin Döner) Overall 3/5...
Vegetarian options: Halloumi cheese, fries, gemuse, house salad Food
Food used to be pretty good. Recently, chicken tasted a bit off when I got the doner, at least in my opinion. Fries were alright, but prices also have gone up.
One of the best quick lunches for a gluten free person to grab. Great before a few drinks or after a few... Definitely good in the morning after a few too many. Food : 4/5
The chicken doner tasted pretty good, and the service was amazing - but the food wasnt standout
Great service and amazing food! Would eat here again and again until I was as fat as a house
Amazing taste. Thank you for appreciating the pickup riders.
First time for me. I was out walking with and suggested a snack. They suggested Otto s. I had the bratwurst and fries. The fries were thin and very good. The bratwurst was thin and firm and little dry inside sadly. The curry ketchup was a delight. Service wad very goid and friendly and attentive.
Found this cute place in Kensington Market. I ordered the vegan Doner with the garlic sauce and was not disappointed! The great service was also a plus. Will definitely come back here.
Just like the doner kebabs in Berlin! Delicious
Amazing food and an amazing location
Absolutely brilliant spot for a great value really nice feed.. well looked after and happily go back plenty..
Food was ready quick and very tasty. Easy to eat in or eat on the go. Great music.
Bad taste
The service was nice here and the food came out really fast and really delicious. The lamb and veal döner I had tasted similar to Osmow s shawarma, but it was better than Osmow s. My only complaint is that I found a large piece of cartilage in the döner. Easy to pick out, but still not very pleasant.
Delicious Döner, cozy area inside to enjoy your meal, but they could improve temperature inside in the winter, it was very cold.
Great owner, I had an issue with my order before and he made sure to personally fix that! Food is incredibly delicious, I eat there at least once a week
An enjoyable experience at this casual eatery, where I had a Döner sandwich, a typical German street food! I enjoyed the soft flatbread, which was pressed and filled with lots of fresh veggies including purple cabbage , cucumber, tomatoes, onions, yogurt, fresh red sauce, vegan garlic aioli sauce- I specially enjoyed the cheese harissa fries- service was prompt , would have preferred water at the table!
Loved the veggie doner, it was full of veggies and sauces! Absolutely loved the taste. It s a cozy spot. A little messy to eat tho Recommended dishes
Very good Doner. Nice ambiance
Beautiful interior amazing service by a guy at night and good food
So far from a Döner in Berlin!! I was hoping to get a little flavor of Berlin back but not in this location. Ordered 2 Döner for takeout. First they rolled the Döner, so non original and than the taste. 80% was Salad and the meat was super dry. The price is $13 per Döner. A modern robbery. Never again!!
Poor experience. Rude front desk team
Very very inconsistent... Was there two times, both visits with different staff members, and... The first doner was amazing, I asked the cashier to be very light on hot sauce, and it was indeed barely noticeable, but still could be tasted. Chicken and vegetables were properly chopped into small pieces. Bread was fried as it should be, just a little crust on the outer side. The second doner was awful. I asked again to be very light on hot sauce, however, the doner was dripping with napalm, it seemed. Also, chicken and veggies were chopped in really large chunks. Chicken was mixed with cartilages and huge pieces of chicken skin. Bread was obviously overroasted, as when I tried to squish the doner it just started cracking. I do not recommend going to this place, as you can never know what type of doner youll get.
Most authentic German Doner in GTA hands down
I had döner for the first time and it was amazing . Vegetarian options: If you are vegetarian and looking forward for something different. You should visit this once. Food : 5/5 |
I recently ordered the chicken shawarma from this restaurant and was disappointed with the quality of the dish. Instead of the promised meat, my shawarma was filled with cooked vegetables, and the few pieces of meat that were included were dry and chewy. This was a significant decrease in quality from my last order a few months ago. Unfortunately, this experience has left me feeling dissatisfied with the restaurants food, and Im not sure if Ill be returning in the future.
Ordered the halloumi doner and we were pleasantly surprised! Usually wouldn t think to get the halloumi but the cheese was delicious and I d recommend it!
Sticky floor. The table was sticky as well. The place was clean otherwise.
Terrible. $60.00 for two, fine, I get it. Location, overhead etc.. Lamb was like chewing leather. Lettuce wilted. Sauces bland, evidently watered down. $6.00 Fries were COLD, soggy and so salty I couldn t eat more than a few before throwing them out. I ve never been more disgusted by a restaurant in Toronto. Had they charged $20.00, I d say fine, whatever and never go back. $60.00 gets them a Google review telling anyone and everyone to stay the f@*# away from this place.
Always Delicious and fresh
The food here is delicious and the backdrops are instagram worthy. I recommend getting the chicken teller with all 3 sauces.
DELICIOUS FOOD, AMAZING AND FRIENDLY STAFF. WOULD 100% RECOMMEND
Delicious. This Döner is up there with what you get in Berlin.
Kinda pricey but definitely really good food. Nothing will ever taste like Berlin doner unless your in Berlin but this is as good as it gets for Toronto. Tried the lamb doner. They also have beer!
Trying German food for the first time and I am truly amazed. I tried the chicken diner and it was a really good sandwich. It was spicy and had the right balance of vegetables and mix of the chicken. Overall I would try them again.
This was the first time I bought a lamb sandwich, but I was immediately disappointed, the price was not cheap at 13CAD+, the bread filling was just lots of lettuce and cucumber, the meat was very minimalistic and dry. the taste is also not as good as kebabs in other restaurants. definitely not coming back here again
It wasn t even close to Berlin donner kebab . I regret to go there
Dry bread, dry tough salty oily flavourless meat(veal+lamb). Not enough veggies. And who puts romaine in a doerner: should be iceberg. Asked for extra sauce but couldn t tell that there was any extra. And they charged me for extra sauce without confirming with me first. Very disappointing. Not at all like the lovely doerner I had in Freiburg and in Berlin.
Dry veal and lamb along with dry hard pieces of chicken. Only thing good was the sauce.
Ordered the chicken teller 3 times, and all the 3 times, the couscous was cold and it was really unpleasant to eat
Delicious and huge portion!
Best Currywurst so far outside Germany. Descent German beer menu.
Always love stopping in. Great food
Perfect and delicious... Quick service, great food and a cold beer make a perfect lunch.
Tasty and large Berlin Doner! (I actually dont know if it tastes anything like the doner in Berlin lol) i ordered the chicken doner. Well seasoned with lots of fresh vegetables but I would have liked it spicier. From what I saw, the dine in option of the doner was open, kind of like a venus fly trap whereas I got to go and it was a sandwich. Its actually wrapped perfectly for to go and easy to eat. The bread used was toasted.
Love the halloumi box with veggies!
Extremely greasy and low quality meat, I could not digest it for hours.
I love this place! The food is spectacular and the beer selection is lovely!
A very nice comparison to a German kebab. Unfortunately I have no experience with Berlin kebab, but it was very similar to the kebab I often ate in Germany! When talking about authentic, you have to remember that it is difficult to compare to another country, especially when the ingredients may have to be slightly different from that country. I definitely recommend! I had a normal kebab with everything, spicy.
What is this. This doner west of time
Good delicious food, had it both in the store and had it delivered by Uber, had a great experience every time
Always fresh and well seasoned. A great place for a quick eat or a casual patio drink & people watching with pals
Loved discovering the place. A bit on the pricy side for a sandwich, but still worth it. We tried the plate option as well, and it was pretty good , but not as good as the sandwiches. We would certainly be back.
Not a B of Berlin Döner. The flesh was barely visible. Food
Best doner in the city! Big doner with tons of flavours and lots of fillings, but perfectly seasoned and balanced. The garlic sauce is extraordinary, and love it with the fried halloumi or the greasy fries.
Visited here for a long time ago, so I was expected to visit again. Their beer was good to sip, but foods were under my expectation. There is no difference between Shawarma and Berlin style Donor.
Great tasting and fresh food!
I had a döner with halloumi cheese and lettuce paired with a garlic aioli... And let me tell you, I have never fallen in love so much with a sandwich, its like a fun salad in my mouth! They were very hospitable and it has a nice atmosphere! Definitely recommend!
Delicious - especially the halloumi. Make sure to add it to your doner
Food was bland and overpriced
Purchased 2 chicken doner sandwiches. The meat was very dry and the entire sandwich despite the sauce was not tasty. Not worth the money at $14 per sandwich. Also the ambience of the place is not great. The tables were not clean and we had to clean it before sitting down and the entire place had a foul smell. Better to skip this place due to the below average food taste, unclean ambience and no value for money.
The gentleman with a mask at the front desk was not friendly. Horrible service and attitude. The food was not generously served. Rarely any chicken in the bowl, just lettuce
Unique take on shawarmas. The meat and fillings are great, but the sauces are really what make it, especially the tzatziki/yoghurt sauce! The bread is nice, soft, and easy to hold. Comfy interior too
A slightly less greasy take on the German doner (still fairly heavy though). Good beer and friendly service.
Very good kebab
This has nothing to do with Berlin kebab. Not cut from a skewer but fried in a pan. Not a recommendation in terms of taste either.
Highly recommend their new slushies - not sugary at all.
A good doner that offers cuisine inspired by Germany but adapted to Canada. The result is delicious! Fast service and very nice server
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, the man at the counter gave everyone else a bag and not me, i would love to know why!!!!!!!
NOT Recommended. Saw lady grabbing meat with bare hands. Not clean please at all. And refused to return my money when complained. This place used to be decent. Food
I like!
If you re homesick and missing a German Döner go there. It is for sure not authentic since they lack the right type of salad, white cabbage, and filling. But it is for sure a tasty try of a Döner.
One of the best sandwiches I ve ever had. Everything was perfect. Could not recommend more as a tourist. Food : 5/5
We love ordering lunch from here for our team. It is always a hit, and the portions sizes are great. We appreciate the mix of meat and vegetarian options. The Halloumi Box is a staff favourite! Cant recommend them enough, and the service is also consistently fantastic :) Thank you to the entire team for being our go-to lunch for many years!
Got 2 chicken boxes...chicken was cold and bland...
The food was delicious! The veggies were fresh and everything tasted wonderful. Its a very nice and unique quick bite!
This is probably the worst value Ive gotten out of buying a meal in Toronto in my life. I got the chicken teller, small, it cost me $16, and ended up being just a box of greasy fries with wisps of chicken and a sauce drizzled on. The meal was salted in such a way to seem tasty (including possibly MSG), but it was to a harmful degree and the meal had almost zero nutritional value apart from calories. The amount of chicken in the meal ended up being less than a quarter cup (35g, 1.5oz), which is not even a third of what you expect for a dinner at the price point. Its unbelievable how this company chooses to squeeze every last penny out of their food costs and clearly dont actually care about delivering good food as a service. Perhaps I should have gotten the sandwich and at least benefited from a slice of tomato or a cucumber. In a rush, I made a mistake in going there, and I will never go there again.
Smoothies are great ! Virgin and Real! Doners!!! Food
Overall, I enjoyed the donair I had and it was similar to what I have had in Berlin, albeit this donair was smaller and had fewer ingredients. The donair was tasty though and the Paulaner lager was a good accompaniment. I thought it was expensive for what I had.
Good spot for a unique eat. Highly recommend the halloumi, and as many other posters have stated the food is very fresh and flavourful. My favourite is the chicken teller mixed with halloumi, salad and couscous:) my only recommendation would be more vegetables on top of the Doners/Tellers.
Whenever Im in the area I always make it a point to go here. The Döners are always amazing and I am absolutely hooked. Its also nice that they sell Köstritzer beers as well. A great combo and I highly recommend. Edit: Dropped to two stars because its definitely no longer as good as it was. The meat is so overcooked its burnt. It just has no flavor and it isnt a pleasant eating experience. Keeping at two stars simply because of the halloumi options which I think more places should have.
Food was good but the suggested tip calculations on the receipt is a little dishonest. (See photo) e.g. 15%=$2.87 means they calculated the tip by _including_ the tax. Why should I tip on top of the tax??
Never tried a döner before and I must admit, they were just a delight! Got ours with veal and lamb, shared with my husband but if you re really hungry you can probably finish one of your own. Stop in while touring all the amazing food in Kensington!
There seems to be a bit of a list in translation situation here. While the food is similar to what we ate in Berlin, seasoning is a little heavy handed. And picking a base for a Currywurst? You either get Pomme or Brötchen ON THE SIDE when you get Currywurst in Deutschland, even at the fancy places in Berlin.
I took some friends to this place because in the past we really loved the food and service, but unfortunately this experience was much different. I am not sure what has happened (new owner?) but it is not the same as it was before. There was 5 of us in the group and I m not sure what happened but 3 of us got our food first and my other two friends were completely forgotten about, we waited to eat together for almost 10 minutes before I had to go and ask why my friends orders (who ordered BEFORE us) had not come yet. they seemed confused but said they would get to it. we continued waiting and one of the employees came to our table and proceeded to say we got the orders for x and x (which were the ones the 3 of us had received) I m not sure what she was implying.. that the other two friends were lying or did not pay?? Anyways my friend showed her the receipt and it was only AFTER that did they start making their order. To be clear, we understand- mistakes happen, it s fine- but the way it was dealt with was not ok: - waiting for half an hour for a fast food meal - Instead of getting to the missing orders right away- trying to find the receipt as if the didn t see the two people ordering right BEFORE the other orders that they fulfilled To mention- they did give two free ginger beers as an apology actually it s funny because at first they gave only one and it was only after we asked did they give two like one ginger beer for two orders that went wrong??? but also did not rectify the mistake they made because my friends had ordered a specialty fries ($1 more than regular) but they were only given regular - at that point we didn t complain anymore because they were too hungry and frustrated On another note too- the quality of the food has also gone down - very greasy now I don t like writing negative reviews but this case was one of the worst customer service experiences I ve had at a restaurant.
I ordered Halloumi Teller Box via Foodie. I am strictly vegetarian and the sent me meat box which I tasted without realizing its meat.just one word Unacceptable. Plus they did not have courtesy to at least replace my dish with what I ordered
Amazing food choices!
Famous spot in Kensington market. The Veal sandwich was really good. But the price has been inflated. It was $20 for what to me, was half a sandwich.
In the middle of the famous Kensington District, you find a place that suggests an original German Doener and German Currywurst. Unfortunately, they dont live up to their name. The Doener is filled with thick cut Gyros, and the Curry Sauce is more Butter Chicken Sauce than Curry Sauce. Fries were massively oversalted. Too bad. I had hope for some good German comfort food. I got disappointed.
Perfect, curry just a little too spicy
This place is ok, not great. Definitely relies on location vs food quality. Decent patio to eat and have a beer right in the middle of kesington market
Absolutely delicious food!!! A must try for everyone :)
Very pretty ambience.Neat and tidy spot for Doner and wurst. One of my favourite places in Kensington market to sit down and have brunch with my friends
Ordered for pick up, fast and clean. Very friendly staff!
Ottos is spot on. Always a good stop when in Kensi.
Very rude cashier. He just nodded his head without bothering himself to answer simple questions. Poor quality Doner Sandwich! We ordered Veal and Lamb sandwich, which was uncooked (very chewy meat)!
Orders almost always on time for Uber, pleasant staff
Enjoyed lunch here with some colleagues which was recommended by them. Ordered the small veal and lamb teller box with half fried, half salad and all the sauce! The fries are perfectly thin and crispy which soaks up all the sauce, salad gives it a nice healthy crunch and the meat was perfectly seasoned and super flavourful! Portion size was perfect and the staff was so incredibly friendly and welcoming. Such a great gem in Kensington!
