A Gluten-Free Food Program approved restaurant, Riz Gluten-Free is excited to feature a 100% Gluten-Free Asian kitchen. In addition to Dine-in and Take Out, Riz offers an extensive frozen menu that can be ordered directly from our new website.
I was blown away by this restaurant, it was far and away the best gluten free place I've ever visited. The food was exquisite, the presentation was spectacular, and the menu was full of diverse options.
It was such a rare but spectacular experience to be able to order ANYTHING from their dedicated gluten-free dairy-free menu including their cocktails and desserts! And the flavours were phenomenal *chefs kiss. We ordered crispy beef with rice, black bean pearl noodles, crispy spring rolls, gyoza, and har gow + Thai lychee cocktail. We also got takeout desserts (pictured- an eclair and a raspberry chocolate mini cake) because we were so full but couldn't resist! The serving sizes were generous that we had enough for takeout. Prices were fair and with the takeout, was worth the flavour and value. The beef was incredible, crispy, tender, and not too much batter like other places that I've visited in the city. We are so excited to return and try more of their dishes. The owner also took the time to chat with us after our meal, gave us recommendations for other gf/df bakery in the West end and made us feel welcome. We look forward to returning and trying out the rest of the menu!!
It is expensive but the food is really really great. Great environment and service. You can’t even tell it’s gluten free (aside from maybe the dessert). Highly recommend Peking duck, denden noodles, shrimp fried rice, and raspberry macaron
I was diagnosed with celiac 2 years ago. Visiting from the US. This food is absolutely AMAZING! + Very friendly staff + Nice atmosphere with lofi music Will be coming back to try everything on the menu! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was visiting Canada for the first time from Pennsylvania and did a simple google search for gluten free food near me and Riz-Gluten Free came up. I was so excited to try this place because as a celiac you never can find GF Asian food! I have been gluten free for the past 14 years and it’s been exactly 14 years since I’ve had Asian cuisine (and it used to be my Favorite food 14 years ago) Let me tell you that this food tasted EXACTLY the same as regular Asian food. It was absolutely amazing. I wish they had restaurants in the USA! I was blown away by this food and will be coming back whenever I go to Canada again! Side note: my boyfriend tried all the food too and said that he couldn’t taste the difference! For reference he is not gluten free!
Amazing gluten free and dairy free Chinese food! I’ve been dining at Riz for the last several years after developing gluten, dairy and egg intolerances. Riz has some of the best tasting food - I’ve brought family and friends who eat gluten and they can’t tell the difference. The staff are always so kind and welcoming. Terry has all my dietary preferences memorized and remembers me/my family each time we visit. We also love how innovative they are with the menu - they are constantly experimenting with new dish ideas. My current favourites include: chicken ramen, Peking duck, all the dim sum items, chicken spring rolls, gai lan, gyoza, sizzling plate, etc! Highly recommend!
Dined in at this restaurant with a friend who is allergic to gluten, but I would definitely come in again regardless of if the people I'm with have dietary restrictions or not. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. The owner and the staff were friendly and the service was good. We were given a complimentary ramen bowl, something I'd recommend for others to try as well as the Thai peanut dumplings. Personally for me, it was a nice experience seeing someone try foods they've wanted to try for a long time and enjoying it. I would've never guessed everything we had was gluten-free either. I recommend this restaurant for anyone regardless of allergies.
This restaurant had me and my partner feeling like we were in the best dream ever. Dedicated gluten-free with fantastic service and presentation. I had dim sum items and Peking duck and desserts that tasted just like I remembered. The food was so good I forgot to take photos of the first few dishes we had! Unforgettable experience, and the sheer talent to get soup dumpling texture so accurate is mind-blowing. Thank you Terri!
Both the food & the environment here were amazing. Staff were so friendly. Myself & my family couldn t even tell it was gluten free. I couldn t ask for and/or imagine a yummier dining experience.
We wanted a truly gluten free choice for a celiac family member s birthday dinner. Chinese food is generally impossible, and so this was a big treat for them. But not only that, it was just good Chinese food! Riz is truly enjoyable for anyone regardless of dietary restrictions. The crispy beef was top notch, and the eggplant was fantastic. Fried rice and Singapore noodles were great. Dim sum was a treat. Thank you for a wonderful night, we will be back! Dietary restrictions: Genuine gluten-free, so suitable for celiac as there is no contamination risk. Also dairy free and generally just very allergy conscious.
I buy their chicken spring rolls frozen in Montreal from Susie sans Gluten and they are absolutely delicious! Perfect taste and texture. Soy free as a bonus.
All the food was so delicious, we ordered as many items as we could. Its hard to pick a favourite, maybe the Thai peanut dumplings! And everyone is really nice, we will definitely be coming back Dietary restrictions: Heaven for celiacs
Service was deplorable. Check your receipts and calculate them before paying!!!!
Last time I was in Toronto I ordered uber eats since I wasnt able to get to the restaurant for eat in and the pad thai was so good. The chicken dumplings were amazing I missed dumplings so much as a celiac. The spring rolls werent my personal preference. I didnt like the outer shell taste but it wasnt terrible. I just like my spring rolls a certain way. This year I really wanted to come for my birthday and bring home the frozen meals. I wanted to eat in as well, but it wasnt in the cards. I probably will next time im in Toronto. The employees were so nice and they gave me a gift bag. (one of their plates that says gluten free). It was so amazing and I ordered their freezer meals (chicken fried rice, chicken steamed dumplings, wonton soup and egg rolls). I cannot wait to try them. This place means so much to me as a celiac who loves asian food.
To reply to the owner...we were not the ones you didnt have a table for, even though theyhad a reservation My standard review stands Good food Bad service
Delicious food. Wonderful atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and welcoming as well. They re dedicated to being inclusive for those with food sensitivities and doesn t sacrifice flavour. Will definitely return and recommend. Dietary restrictions: The entire menu is gluten free and dairy free. They also have plant based options.
Really good experience. The staff is so friendly. And finally a place where I can go and eat without any concerns. Really good place. Too many options. And you should try all the options.
Very nice food. Too many food options. They have something for everyone. Vegan Gluten friendly. Say it they have it. Very very sweet staff
I love bringing my mom here. She always misses eating dumplings and Asian food in general. Its really hard as a celiac to trust most restaurants and you can be fully confident you can eat here and everything is gluten free! It seems too good to be true when you first go there. Really great food!
One of the best dining experiences I ve ever had. Every dish tasted divine, the atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming, and each of us who are gluten free could order anything, anything on the menu and share with each other with no dietary concerns. Truly our dinner here was the highlight of our trip to Toronto, I haven t stopped thinking about the food we got to enjoy, I couldn t recommend Riz enough!!!
One of our favorites - fabulous food and unbelievable service. There were 6 of us giving a chance to try and share lots of different dishes. Everything was fabulous. Recommended for everyone. We will be back soon.
Wow wow wow!! Amazing all gluten free food, fantastic service. Can t wait to come back!
All the food here are amazing and their service is top tier! Will definitely come back!
Gluten-free friends and people who love their gluten-free friends, you should go here! I stopped in for a treat and im thrilled that i came across Riz. The house-made noodles in the Ramen special were so delicious, the service was lovely, and I cant remember the last time I got to enjoy gyoza like this! Would recommend!
Used to go here when you could order tapas style. Was absolutely amazing, so my husband and I went out of our way to eat here recently after seeing a show downtown. They no longer serve this way, which was fine, however the food was barely sub-par. The pad Thai tasted like ketchup was used in the sauce, and everything we ordered was utterly bland. We witnessed a woman at a table requesting some hot sauce, and she was promptly and rudely told that the food was already seasoned, and that she didnt need any. So much for our intention to ask for the same. Server/owner/manager was abrupt and quite rude with us, even after sharing we were happy to be back after the covid shutdown. We reserved a table for 6pm and the restaurant was empty when we got there. Two more tables were seated, and when we commented that it was quiet we were told it will be very busy after 7, you wont believe it (This from a young server wearing sweatpants and a stained hoodie). Weve waited over an hour in the past for a table here, so we knew that was possible, however we were there until 7:30 and the place was still empty. Very telling. We will never go back now, very disappointing....this was our favourite restaurant. We used to drive from Burlington to eat here, but sadly never again.
Just great food, and its all Gluten Free as a bonus.
Hands down the best gluten free chinese food in the city. My mother has celiac and every time shes in town we go here and it never disappoints.
I recently visited this restaurant with my family, hoping for a pleasant gluten-free dining experience. Unfortunately, our visit was far from welcoming. Our server was rude, spoke in an angry tone, and it felt as if the food was thrown onto our table rather than served. Despite other tables receiving attentive service and repeated offers for assistance, no one checked on us not even to offer a glass of water. The disparity in treatment was evident, and it felt like we were being discriminated against for not fitting an elite profile. The entire experience left us feeling insulted, as though we had paid not for a meal, but for poor treatment. I sincerely hope the management addresses these issues to ensure all customers receive respectful and equal service.
Went for gluten free food with my friends. The crispy beef is amazing! Friendly servers.
A great dining experience at this resturant . The food was absolutely delicious and fresh.
Amazing Gluten Free food . I love dumplings and the dipping sauce .
I was diagnosed with celiac disease in the summer of 2024 and came here to celebrate some life events with friends 6 months later. The food and atmosphere were amazing with excellent service while managing a busy Saturday afternoon. For those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity I can t highly recommend this restaurant enough. Real delicious food without the worry!!!!!
Absolutely amazing! Staff was incredible, answering all questions and the food was superb! From the general Tao, dumpling, veggie gaow and spring rolls . Plus a chocolate eclairs.. oh my!!
I was so excited as someone who can t consume gluten and also eats halal (Only chicken is halal.) when I found this restaurant. I placed an order right away and waited patiently even though it was really far away and it took one and half an hour. First of all, I don t know the prices at store but it was really expensive for the amount when you order through app. I got sweat and sour chicken, general tso chicken, citrus fish and pad thai. For chicken meals, I can say that it was mostly sauce and batter. You could hardly feel the chicken. It was hard to chew. Fish was one the worst of them. It was hard as rock and so chewy. Pad thai had an unpleasant taste. I believe it was because of the type of rice noodle they use. Also, had very little chicken that I m not even sure whether it was actually chicken. Overall, maybe it was not a good day or it was just about my order. I sadly wouldn t give it another chance due to prices.
I am celiac, first time at Riz for dinner, I am amaze that they serve Hala chicken which is perfect for me! I am not familiar with Chinese food but the waitress is so helpful and patient with me, my family enjoyed so much even though they don t need gluten-free! Definitely will go back again!
Every time my dad and I (celiac) go to Toronto, we go here! So nice to not have to worry about cross-contamination when eating out and you literally cant go wrong with a single item on the menu. Highly recommend especially for my fellow celiacs out there!!
First time trying a certified gluten free restaurant, and oh my god it was a great experience, especially because Mary helped us recommend the foods, she was very patient with us. Everything we ordered was right on point. If you re looking for a safe place to accommodate for your allergies then I would 100% recommend this restaurant. Will definitely be back with more of my friends.
The food was delicious and the ambience was cozy.
The best gluten free food in town love the service
We visited Riz for the first time today and it was incredible! Food was amazing, the staff were super amiable and quick, and the atmosphere was cozy. It was so nice to have a totally gluten-free and dairy-free menu! This is rare for celiacs. Thank you very very much! We will be back:)
My first time at riz. The service is excellent and the food is amazing. The fried rice is not oily and the portions are great too. Definitely worth trying. Best Gluten Free restaurant around
We used to dine here for lunch almost once a month for years when they were at their previous location. We went back for lunch after 5 years and we still love their Crispy Beef! Our server was friendly and nice. Food
Honestly, highest robbery. So over priced. We ordered a fried rice dish that came with 4 shrimp and was 26 dollars. Don t go here. You can get just as good food elsewhere. The gluten free is nice but they are over charging.please note this was take out and the prices were similar to Uber Eats, the owners reply isn t relevant.
This is the first time I order take out from Riz, everything is gluten free and dairy free and it was delicious and worry free about cross contamination! The best thing is they offer 20% off when you pick up in the restaurant with cash!! What a deal!
went to RIZ yesterday because she has celiac, everything taste like reg Chinese food, it was amaz
Great service good food for sure I will be back again!
Food is excellent you would not know is gluten free. Its nice to be able to go out for dinner with myson who has celiac and not have to worry. Dietary restrictions: Celiac
Fantastic gluten free restaurant. Great for people with celiac. I highly recommend it.
Terri, the owner, is amazing, she is so friendly, she cares so much about her food and it shows so much. The food, the atmosphere and the people are amazing. Dietary restrictions: This is a true, 100% gluten free place. Including the eclairs.
This place is outstanding! It s an amazing Asian restaurant full stop - the fact that it s all 100% gluten free is a massive bonus. If you or someone you know is gluten free or celiac, you need to try it.
It is the only place you can get Ramen soup that is completely gluten-free like everything else which makes this wonderful restaurant exceptional. To be able to sit with celiac people and not worry about any ingredients and still eat the finest food makes Riz irreplaceable. Whether you need gluten-free or not you won t eat tastier food anywhere. I can t wait to come back.
This place is fantastic for everyone, but especially for those with gluten intolerance or celiac disease. The restaurant is very clean, and the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. They even helped us charge our phones and went the extra mile by calling the owner in Montreal to help us find their products in our city. But the highlight was the food it was absolutely delicious. My girlfriend, who has celiac disease, said it was the best gluten-free meal shes had in a long time.
Menu is 100% gluten free, celiac friendly. Ramen is awesome. Wonton soups is delicious. Gyozas are really good too. Is healthy and still delicious Dietary restrictions: Desserts are gluten free and lactose free as well
Had a wonderful evening .. the food was so very good .. the spring rolls were a hit
Delicious food and wonderful service. Terry and their crew are always so friendly and kind! Its so great to know that everything at the restaurant is safe for celiacs. Their two new ramens are delicious, and their udon noodle and dan dan noodle are perfected! I cant recommend the ramens enough. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Dietary restrictions: Celiac safe, dairy free
Loved it. Absolutely amazing. Best food and dining experience I ve ever had. Very impressed with the quality and taste. Was a bit busy, but staff still did a lovely job catering to customers and multitasking. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and dairy free options. They were also very accommodating for my peanut allergy.
Recommend crispy beef and fried spring rolls. Really appreciated having everything gluten free. The old guy working there was stressed and rude to a couple younger kids but our server was great. Dietary restrictions: All gluten free!
this place is sensational. The most delicious Asian food. I can eat gluten, but my daughter cannot. This restaurant served delicious beautifully prepared. tasty food. It s wonderful to have iall options gluten-free. A wide choice and range of choices. I would go again, even though gluten is not an issue for me. It is an absolute tremendous venue. Can t say enough. Hot and sour soup, shrimp tempura, crispy beef, even egg rolls!
We had the most incredible meal at Riz! Asian cuisine is definitely something we often miss out on being GF and we were so excited to see this restaurant on the app! We were served by the owner Terry who explained why they are so passionate about the restaurant and menu and saw a market demand (even though she has NO food restrictions herself). We can t say enough about this restaurant and the meal we had we only wish we lived closer!!
Authentic chinese dim sum, which I miss a lot bc Im a celiac. The staff are friendly and warm. This location has great Peking duck and they make a house special Tasu Fan! (Expensive place... but all GF speciality foods are) Dietary restrictions: Gluten/wheat friendly Kitchen is 100% gluten free Gluten free soy sauce on table
Best gluten free Chinese restaurant in town. I love Terry so much
Wow, what a magnificent restaurant! Everything was delicious and we tasted lots of things. The service is exceptional! On my next visit to Toronto we will return there
So, so grateful for this gluten-free restaurant. The food is filled with flavour, and I dont have to stress about how Im going to feel after eating here. Just so wonderful. We always grab extra food to pack our freezer with when we leave, too, and its totally worth it. If youre gluten-free due to celiac, or just sensitivity, and even if youre not gluten-free, I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy Chinese food. Also, the Peking duck is divine! Dietary restrictions: Excellent if youre gluten-free. Most (if not all) dishes are dairy-free too. Kid-friendliness: We have taken our kids here when they were young, and it was fine. Bring something to entertain them and its all good
What an amazing dining experience! Our family planned on coming to Riz Gluten Free during our trip to Toronto. Definitely make a reservation. This place gets packed. The service and food were excellent. Impeccable attention to detail in the food, the quality, and the dining experience. My grown daughter and I are both gluten and dairy free so it s not easy to find food, let alone great food. Everything here was excellent. My husband who does not have any food sensitivities, was pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was. He enjoyed the food as much as we did! Thank you Riz Gluten Free for a fabulous meal! Dietary restrictions: Dishes are both gluten and dairy free. They collaborate with a French bakery with dairy and gluten free desserts that are on par with the quality of the food.
Amazing food !! I highly recommend. Delicious, fresh, excellent service!
Amazing restaurent ! I recommand for anyone :) even if you are not on a gluten-free diet you need to try it you wont regret it !!!
I am celiac and have been going to the other Riz locations for almost 10 years now without issue. I went to celebrate my mother in laws birthday and they were incredibly accommodating, answered every question we had and the owner herself came and greeted us! It was a very welcoming experience and the food is so so goood!! This is one of the only dedicated gluten free kitchens in toronto. Amazing 100% reccomend whether you are gluten free or not, DELICIOUS!!
General Taos chicken was underwhelming
This place is fantastic! Fully gluten and dairy free! Drive from Winona MN to try this place out and worth the drive!
WOW this place was absolutely delicious! I stopped here for lunch on my weekend travels to Toronto Im so glad I did. What a little splice of heaven this restaurant is! Im highly gluten intolerant so I havent been able to eat most Asian foods in almost 3 years, so this was a very special meal for me. I was sat right away and their staff was very attentive. I ordered the shrimp siu mai to start, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Also tried the chicken spring rolls those were beyond delicious as well and perfectly crispy. My favorite purchase was the Thai peanut dumplings, I almost cried they were so delicious! The sauce poured over them was something Ive never tasted before. I wish I had extra room in my stomach to order even more! This restaurant is perfect for those avoiding gluten but also just as great for gluten eaters! As I was about to leave, their very kind manager gave me a small present, two beautiful bowls that say gluten free on them (seen in one of my photos). Thank you so much Riz for the yummy food and for the great service! I will definitely be returning to Riz during my next Toronto tripI cant wait Dietary restrictions: Completely gluten-free kitchen!
Amazing restaurant. Can t wait to go back and try other menu items. Dietary restrictions: Celiac restaurant. Dairy free options too. Food : 5/5 |
I was diagnosed with Celiac disease about 20 years ago and just had to accept that I would never be able to eat a lot of the delicious food out there. But coming to Riz was absolutely life changing for me. I brought some friends who do not have a gluten allergy and they said the gluten-free options were absolutely on par with the gluten-filled versions they were used to eating elsewhere so. I tried dumplings (and soup dumplings!) for the first time and omgggggg. The duck was amazing, too. Zero gluten reaction from me. I cant wait to go back!
Yummmmy! Ah, finally Asian food we can eat! Our family loves Asian food but it s rare that we get to eat it due to all kinds of food restrictions. I usually have to end up trying to replicate it in my kitchen, needless to say, not quite the same! So of course we couldn t pass up the opportunity to try Riz Gluten-Free while visiting Toronto. Though this place was out of our way it was well worth the drive! Our party ranged from age 7 to 50 and there was something for everyone! We ordered one of everything in the Dim Sum section and one of each of their desserts, along with many other things. All delicious! Mmmm, I wish we lived in Toronto so I could have one of their eclairs every day! And the service gets equally high rankings. Nice, friendly staff who took good care of us! We left with full bellies and happy hearts! Thanks Riz Gluten-Free! Parking: There is street parking all along. Depending when you are there you may have to pay for parking. At other times, however, parking is free. Just be sure to read the signs carefully.
i ve had a lot of gluten free asian food, homemade and at restaurants; and nothing has ever came close to comparing to riz. i ve tried to make gluten free siu mai at home but it never seemed authentic. this place is doing something incredible!
Soooo good
The food is amazing!
We had the best Asian food we have ever had at Riz! The fact that it was 100% gluten free was such a relief as a member of our family has celiac. Everyone was kind and helpful and the food was beyond delicious! Definitely get the ramen!
If you come to Toronto you cant miss going to eat in this Asian restaurant, delicious food, everything was delicious, my two celiac children were delighted, expert and very kind staff, well done
A haven for anyone on a gluten free diet! Dine in was exceptional; high quality food, service, and atmosphere. Frozen take-home food is also incredible!
Everything here is absolutely delicious and amazing, all the more so if you consider that the entire menu is gluten-free. And it s not just in comparison to other gluten-free restaurants. As a person who isn t gluten-intolerant I can assure you that the food at Riz is some of the best Asian cuisine in the city without exception. Add to that the staff are really friendly and welcoming and the ambiance is delightful. Highly recommended.
What a gem of a place! Service was top rate, price was fair for the standard of food...which was absolutely incredible. Total relief knowing the entire menu is gluten and dairy free! Vegetarian options: Plenty of veggie options! Dietary restrictions: The entire menu is gluten and dairy free - anyone who needs to avoid gluten knows how much of a worry that can be so this place is a very welcome find!
Took my family of five here for my husbands birthday dinner; he s celiac and has never been able to order whatever he wanted at a restaurant. It was wonderful to see him enjoy a meal with no concerns for an episode. Everything was fresh and delicious; we over ordered so he could enjoy the leftovers.
I can t believe I waited so long to try this restaurant! This is the first restaurant I ve ever been to where everything on the menu is certified gluten free! We tasted many dishes and all were delicious - you would never know they were gf. Our waitress was very friendly and helped us pick our dishes. There was no rush - keep ordering and eat until you are full! I can t say enough good things about our experience and I can t wait to go back!
Best gluten free food I ve ever had!! Please open a location in Vancouver!
I traveled all the way from Texas and I am obsessed!!! We just kept ordering and ordering! Everything we had was exceptional but the UDON was INCREDIBLE! I have not found gf udon anywhere and it was so good I could ve cried! To top it off the people who work here put their heart into everything! Everyone we met made us feel like family. Don t hesitate going here. It is more than worth the drive and the money!
This restaurant is godsent. Absolutely amazing. I can t remember the last time I was able to eat so freely and fearlessly in an Asian restaurant. The texture of the ramen noodles, the Peking duck pancakes, and all the dumpling shells were incredible. Favourite dish was the sweet sour chicken, I could eat it everyday for the rest of my life. Also the owner and staff are super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend, definitely coming back.
Amazing authentically flavoured Asian food, entirely gluten-free. A gem!
Coming to Toronto, I was super excited to try all the delicious cuisine, unfortunately I wasnt able to find many restaurants suitable for celiacs. Fortunately we found this restaurant! The food was amazing, especially the peking duck and the shanghai soup dumplings. Fantastic service as well. The fact that they also had gluten free IPA was a bonus!
we have eaten here several times and have had in the past what we thought was decent service and decent food. Last night was different. I ordered pick up and they ended up giving me five rice when I only ordered one and they would not give me my money back as they kept saying, I agreed to that amount which is nonsense. My husband was in the room when I put the order in I only ordered one. It was for two people. they still charged me and told my husband to leave when he said we never ordered it! What happened to the customer is always right? As it turned out the tempura that we ordered was inedible It was complete garbage and we ended up throwing it out. Will never return!
Phenomenal food, can t believe it s gluten free. Best fried rice I ve ever had. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for allergies. Food : 5/5 |
Riz has raised the bar for gluten free food!! Consistently amazing quality, and you really wouldn t know it s gluten free. So impressive. The gyoza and sping rolls are a must have for all celiac / gluten intolerant people that have been missing out!
Absolutely love this place. When we landed in Toronto this was the first place I wanted to eat. Amazing food and love that everything is gluten free.
I am at a loss for words !!! This place is PHENOMENAL - cannot believe everything here is gluten free The food was so so delicious, Emily is an absolutely sweetheart and we can t stop raving about our experience! My mom and I are celiac and we ve never felt more comfortable in a restaurant, never mind being offered with so many amazing options. HIGHLY recommend!! Dietary restrictions: So safe for those with dietary restrictions and allergies!
Superb dining experience at Riz gluten-free tonight. I had the best Gf shrimp tempura and chicken spring rolls Since I uses became celiac 10 years ago. Cant wait to go back!! Thank you Riz
Their hot and sour soup ($6) contains traditional ingredients such as tofu, black fungus, and green onions, but could also something crunchier to round out the textures - in lieu of julienned bamboo shoots, Riz uses a softer vegetable. Overall, the soup didn t satisfy my craving, especially since it had a sweet finish that I found strange. The rice noodles (ho fun) used in the veggies and tofu pad see ewe ($19.75) is much thicker than what you d find elsewhere. Perhaps, this is also why we found the dish blander and lacking the aromatic wok hay that s synonymous with the noodles. A bit more soy would have helped and perhaps we should have taken them up on having some chili oil with the dish. Luckily, the black bean tiger shrimp ($22.50) was flavourful and went nicely with the pad see ewe. The normally pungent black bean was mellowed into a sweet sauce studded with garlic and onions. Incorporating a variety of vegetables, the broccoli really soaks up the sauce so some people may find this too salty for me it was perfect. Make sure to get an order of steamed rice to pair with the dish. If you read the description of the purple Saigon eggplant ($17.75), you d think the hoisin, garlic chili, and soy sauce would create a sweet, spicy, and savoury dish. Instead, there s a tanginess that while not off-putting is also not expected. The eggplant was cooked perfectly, flash fried to retain its vibrant purple hue and quickly tossed with the rest of the vegetables. Given the chili logo on the menu, I would have liked this spicier. I love that Riz incorporates so many fresh vegetables in their dishes. If what s used in the stir fries and noodles aren t enough, the snow pea and broccoli ($17.75) offer even more greens. During our visit, the recipe also included snap peas, likely used to augment the off-season snow peas that were a bit tough.
Great Taste, Good Value, Best Service. Thanks Riz Vegetarian options: Veg options available. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free Dishes from appetizers to main course and also the dessert.
100% yummy and gluten free food! Dietary restrictions: 100% Gluten Free Food : 5/5 |
Great food, we loved the buck choy dish.
Guys!!! Dedicated gluten free restaurant with amazing food. Just had their made in house raman!! Don t walk - run. It s so delicious. Had pad see ewe, crispy beef all so tasty. I m already planning my next visit. Reservations are recommended Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy free
Exceptional food and service. The ramen and dumplings especially soup dumplings were delicious. Highly recommend.
Best Peking duck! And love the hot and sour soup!
The spring rolls were so good! Its been a while since Ive had one because of my celiac disease.
We come here every time we re in Toronto because it s consistently delicious and my sister can safely eat here as a celiac. The food is incredible and I highly recommend it. Dietary restrictions: Great for celiacs
When in Toronto you can t go wrong with Riz. Have been going here for many years and always have a complete celiac safe gluten free dining experience. From gluten free appetizers, main dish items and dessert. Even gluten free beer. The whole menu is gluten free. Even dim sum, wonton and egg rolls. A must try for those in the gluten free community. Six stars !! Dietary restrictions: All gluten free menu.
Food is always amazing! I live far from Toronto so whenever I m there I go to Riz gluten free and dine in, and also order extra to take home for later.
Another exceptional experience at The Riz! The service is outstanding, the wide variety of flavourful regular and gluten-free options is amazing and a wonderful atmosphere for any occasion.
We have been going to Terry s other restaurants for years. We love this restaurant specifically for the Peking duck , a wonderful selection of dim sum , and noodles. All gluten free and dairy free.
I finally got to this restaurant after dreaming of visiting for a few years! It was worth the wait and I m already trying to figure out why I need to visit Toronto so that I can get a trip to this restaurant again soon. The food is blow your mind good - and not just gluten free (and other allergen free) good - but amazing for all people! The service was perfect, warm and quick and discrete! We tried 8 things on the menu and each was a hit! I can t wait to go back for more! Definitely put this on your list for anyone and if you have someone in your life that finds it difficult to eat out, this will be an experience they will never forget!!!
Absolutely amazing!!!! This is celiac paradise! Everything I tried was so so good and it was wonderful to enjoy everything in a dedicated environment. The staff were so kind and recommended some excellent dim sum options. The spicy Thai peanut dumplings were out of this world, and so were the new soup dumplings. Also tried their new ramen and almost cried because it tasted just like how I remember from before my celiac diagnosis. I dont know how they work this gluten free magic but Im so glad they do! Will definitely be back every time Im in Toronto :)
Amazing gluten free dim sum! My non-celiac wife could not tell it was gluten free and thought it was wonderful. Dietary restrictions: Entirely gluten free, and also had a great dairy free chocolate eclair
My sister and I have been here a few times whenever we re in the area, and it s our go-to spot for gluten free Asian food. There s nothing we haven t tried that isn t delicious. My sister and I are both celiac and it s hard to find alternatives where we live, so when we come we definitely overindulge! The staff are also super friendly, and the atmosphere is always relaxing and visually appealing. I have nothing but good things to say and we will continue to come! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Staff were very rude.
My first Chinese food in 13 years since being diagnosed with celiac and it was incredible! We had egg rolls (!!!!!), Ramen, spring rolls, gyzoa, shrimp dumplings, Peking duck + pancakes and just wow, everything was amazing. Terri did not steer us wrong once with a recommendation and I could not believe the breadth of the menu in this dedicated, safe food space for celiacs and non-dairy folks. We will be back asap!!! Dietary restrictions: Celiac
A very warm and welcoming place. Staff were lovely! Food was fantastic. Definitely will be back for more!
It was a wonderful experience dining in this restaurant for nine people. I ordered some food from the menu and some food as per my request because I wanted to have more authentic food for my guests. Both quality and quantity were excellent. Terri the manager and her team did a fabulous job. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
I was diagnosed with celiac disease 4 years ago . The food here was so amazing I felt like a normal person . I ordered so many different things . We drove an hour just to try it out and was not disappointed. We ll be returning soon ! Owner was super friendly and came to our table and talked to us for a few minutes . Over all 10/10 experience !
Great experience. Delicious food thats not loaded with salt. Felt confident knowing absolutely no gluten. Will be going back for the chicken spring rolls for sure!
Great place to eat when looking for gluten-free and dairy-free options. Service was excellent and great dishes variety as well as flavor. The restaurant is completely gluten free and really tasty asian food Kids love the food, and definitely, we will be back soon Dietary restrictions: Glutten and dairy free
Hands down one of the best meals I ve had in years. I was lucky to be there on a day they had their ramen - WOW! The chew was perfection and the broth was out of this world. I was lucky enough to have it with wontons in it and they were amazing. We started with the soup dumplings which were so, so good. I haven t had a soup dumping in 6 years, nor a wonton, my mind was blown! We also ordered the har gow, siu mai, chicken spring rolls, general tao chicken and beef pad see ewe. I have pretty severe autoimmune issues and it was lovely to eat at a place that was 100% safe and absolutely delicious. Such a delight to have gluten free food that has the texture of what I remember from my pre-gluten free days! The owner and the staff are absolutely lovely. I was lucky enough to chat with the owner for awhile and she is truly passionate about food and making sure they have the best dishes and products possible. I will be a customer for life! Thank you for such a lovely afternoon.
Amazing all around. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: I am allergic to Dairy (Deathly) and gluten and corn. They accommodated for me. Thank you Riz!
Came back here again. Still just as good! Service was excellent! Terry again super nice and she even remembered me and my friend s face from before. (Terry thank you for the extras). Her staff was also very friendly. It is the holiday season and they even gave us a little present at the end. Definitely a welcomed gesture. (I ve never had a restaurant give me a gift before). Food was excellent just as before! Had the Three course Peking duck. Best Peking duck I ve ever had. Gluten free wraps were unmatched. It came with duck soup and vermicelli duck noodles. Super yummy and very different. Her noddles are the best. You can t even tell they re gluten free. The three course meal would definitely recommend if you are a duck lover! Had the wonton soup the new wrap style made the wontons even better than before. Shows Terry is constantly trying to improve her menu. Such a nice soup. Very light. Had the sweet and sour chicken- excellent Bok choy- so good and savory Singapore noodles- again you can t tell they re gluten free. Chewy and delicious. Overall great experience another time around. A must if you want Gluten free Chinese food. (Photo 1: Peking duck, wrap, bok choy, Singapore noddles) (Photo2: Peking duck after I ate half, wrap, the duck soup, bok choy, and duck noodles) Update: Came back and had the new Ramen. Super delicious chewy noodles. Also had soup dumplings which were new. Very juicy. Very good. Plus shrimp tempura. A+ Because it is all gluten free, the quality that Terry puts into her food, it is there for sure. You can tell she really tests and tries all her recipes and is open to new suggestions. Dietary restrictions: What more can you say: it s all gluten free. No need to worry at all if something is cross contaminated because it is not. They make their noddles, wraps, dumpling skins all themselves and Terry has mastered them.
Everything we ate here was delicious, especially the Peking duck. I am so glad we were recommended this place for gluten free dim sum.
Amazing experience, definitely the best gluten free asian food I ve had! They were so kind and even gave two cute plates with gluten free written on them to take home with me
It has been a long time since we enjoined Asian style food (crispy beef, shrimp fried rice, general Tao chicken, spring rolls) and it was delicious!! Worth the trip!! The environment is great, our waitress is fantastic, and our stomachs were full!! Thanks very much and see you again!!
A gluten free persons dream restaurant. Such nostalgia of eating the foods I used to love. Highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: All gluten free and dairy menu
Good gluten-free options. Service & atmosphere is nice. But it is expensive. Food taste & quality was average. Noodles were very oily
Absolutely amazing Chinese food!! Thank you so much for providing a completely gluten free restaurant, great food, friendly service and amazing atmosphere Will definitely be back! Food
Oh. My. God. This is by far the best gluten free restaurant in Toronto!! We loved the food and service was excellent I havent been able to try staples such as Peking duck, dim sum, gyoza, or even deep fried calamari up until now (I have celiac disease) and was so excited to give them all a try at the Riz! Was NOT disappointed! If I could I would rate each one of those dishes 12/10 because it was just that good!! We also had some dessert, a chocolate raspberry dome and the white chocolate macadamia cookies, both of which were to die for! The restaurant is on the pricier side and parking can be hard to find depending on when you plan on going but that really shouldnt be a reason not to go at all!!!! I will gladly keep coming back, I am still blown away just thinking bout the food.. Those soup dumplings... The duck.. Mhmmm Dietary restrictions: Everything here is gluten and dairy free!!
This place is amazing! everyone was so friendly, and the food was phenomenal! As a celiac I rarely find a safe restaurant, thats also delicious, I mean come on, gluten free gyoza?!? I havent had that in years! and their desserts? the maple tart and Brownie? unreal. so good. The owner was super friendly and even gifted us some cute plates when we left! definitely will be a returning customer!
Absolutely AMAZING experience at the Riz gluten free on Yonge! The staff and food are amazing, I have been here twice now and each time surpasses the last! I got their new soup dumplings and they are absolutely to die for! You cannot even tell they re gluten free. They stay together and don t fall apart either when being eaten! I also tried their chicken rolls, and goyza and everything was amazing. 10/10 will recommended every single time! Will definitely be back! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, dairy free
Just went yesterday and got to try the new soup dumplings they were so good even my boyfriend who isn t gluten free couldn t taste the difference! The service is great and the food is even better! We always make sure to get some crispy beef and pad see ew when we come. Always look forward to coming here when I m in the area! Best gluten free restaurant!!
Best Chinese food in the GTA hands down and a big bonus if you can t eat gluten.
Oh. My. Goodness. The soup dumplings. I cannot even describe the joy and delight. We ordered a sample of a lot of item and noticed the textures were perfect. My non celiac friend said it was incredible too. Taste and texture 10/10. Must eat here.
My partner has celiac disease so finding a place where we can eat quality food without concern is hard. I researched highly rated gluten free spots in Toronto and found Riz. The menu is expansive and everything is not only completely gluten free, it s high quality and it s delicious. The atmosphere is classy and all of the staff is polite and attentive. Make sure you don t skip out on dessert here because it s always good. The dim sum is amazing, the fried rice menu is awesome - honestly anything they have is good. It s a great place to bring friends even if they re not gluten sensitive. The owner is also very sweet.
Literally only amazing things to say about Riz GF! Love love love their carefully curated menu. Terry came over and chatted with us about their newest menu items and was so kind! Highly recommend and will be coming back often.
Delicious gluten-free and dairy-free food. We had the best chicken spring rolls, gyoza, and coconut chicken with jasmine rice. Highly recommended. Beautiful cozy atmosphere, very friendly people. We will go back every time we are in the area. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free and dairy-free
Didn t realize how small the dining area was but it was comfortable and not busy. I was excited to have Asian cuisine that was guaranteed safe since my celiac diagnosis. We ordered citrus chicken and ended up getting crispy ginger beef but it was delicious so it was worth if. Agassi has general Tao, spring roll and goyza all delicious. Parking on Yonge is limited so we parked at loblaws across the street Dietary restrictions: Celiac safe, dairy free and a few vegan options Parking: Parked in nearby loblaws
I have MANY allergies, with gluten & meat being big ones for me. Restaurants trigger anxiety & panic attacks usually, but let me tell you... When I took a bite into their jumbo vegetarian spring rolls stuffed with taro, I cried. It was the first time in a long time ago felt safe eating at a restaurant. Not only was it 100% gluten free, but theres enough vegetarian options to make me feel comfortable. We ordered beef & broccoli for my 2 big kids, a chicken noodle soup for my baby girl, squid for hubby, & veggie spring rolls + tofu Pad see Ewe to share. I loved that I could finally eat at a restaurant WITH my husband & kids enjoying everything just as much as I did. Usually I cant eat anything or I eat, but worry about gluten cross contamination. To the lovely owner of Riz, thank you for your kindness that day. We will be back but please consider selling frozen foods near Oshawa :) Vegetarian options: Tofu Pad See Ewe and jumbo vegetarian spring rolls Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian, gluten free, tomato free
Came in from out of town to try their food. As someone with severe celiac disease, I was beyond impressed! Incredible food, the owner is so incredibly sweet, and the staff are lovely. Will definitely be coming back! (Left this review back in July 2023, just edited it to complete review)
Horendeous-cold-stale-overpriced food, awful service, and DIRTY. Never going back!
The old Riz quality is gone. Flavors were bland , prices have more than doubled. The restaurant is shabby compared to the old location and the entrees were nothing like previously made. For example the chicken wonton soup had two wontons the soup was oily and about a quarter the size of the previous iteration. The main dish which was chicken basil was unflavorful and nothing reminiscent of the old restaurant. I would stay away at this point as the prices have more than doubled since I was there last and the quality has gone in half.
Being a Celiac i came to try this place because of good reviews. I am so happy with my experience. The gf wonton soup was one of a kind and the gf gyozas tasted normal. Thank you for offering best quality for the Celiac community. Worth the money and drive to toronto.
This is the best gluten free dairy free food I have ever had! You must go here even if you dont have allergies. If you do have allergies then enjoy! The staff and owner were so courteous. We traveled from the States to come here, worth it! Dietary restrictions: 100% safe for gluten free and dairy free
Was in the neighbourhood and finally popped in for a quick bite after hearing how great the GF food was at RIZ. Terry greeted me warmly as I excitedly sat down for a quick bite and reviewed the extensive menu; I promised to return instantly with my close friends seeing how much they offered and being submersed in the cozy ambience. WOW! The food did not disappoint me and exploded with flavour, freshness and Terry s kindness was heartfelt and I thank them for the bonus Valentine s surprise! RIZ made my day! Dietary restrictions: Celiac needing Gluten free and the quality of the offerings was so flavourful! Impressed!
I never write reviews, but this place has such great food and service that I had to! I have celiac disease, and although my partner has no dietary restrictions, he loves the food too! We live in Michigan, USA, and we have come to Toronto for the weekend just to have dinner at Riz. We have also flown out of Toronto instead of Detroit just to eat here before the flight! In addition to the dishes I recommended below, I also love the wonton soup and the tempura banana dessert! Vegetarian options: Lots of options for vegetarians. The cashew tofu is amazing!!!
The food was delicious! The Avocado UFO - sweet potato tempura was divine. Im sad we dont live closer! Safely eating gluten free and dairy free food that tastes this good felt like a gift!
This was an amazing experience. I have a wheat allergy and my husband is a vegetarian. The menu had so many options. The service was excellent, our server was amazing and so sweet. The food was quick and so good! The spicy peanut dumplings and crispy beef were perfection. Atmosphere was busy and vibrant. We will always be coming back to this gem when we are in Toronto.
If you are gluten free, or even if you aren t, this restaurant is an amazing flavour journey. The food was all delicious, made with obviously fresh ingredients, and lacking absolutely nothing from the lack of gluten. If you re nervous about accidentally eating gluten like me, the atmosphere here will set you at ease immediately; the plates themselves declare this restaurant gluten free ! They have a wide selection (we will be back to try the rest soon), including DESSERT OPTIONS (a rare treat for gf folks). Fancy enough to feel special, cozy enough to for comfort, this will make a great place for a casual lunch, a romantic dinner, or any kind of gathering for hungry people. 11/10, will come again and again and again! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free everything.
As a celiac this was my dream. Terry was so polite and the food came out fast. All of the staff were amazing and so kind. The crispy beef was one of my favourites and it was so nice to be able to eat gyoza, chicken spring rolls, and eggs rolls. Highly recommend and suggest everyone try the veggie tempura and crispy beef. Everything tasted amazing and it almost made me cry to feel safe eating everything on the menu. Additional, my partner who came with me who is not celiac loved everything and said it was just a great restaurant period (gf or not).
Stop reading this review RIGHT NOW and go eat at Riz. Whether you have celiac or NCGS or what, it doesn t matter because it s straight up delicious. If you have gluten issues now you can go crazy on incredible Chinese food. If you don t have gluten issues, you too can go crazy on incredible Chinese food. 5/5 can t recommend strongly enough.
Great food, great price, great service! What more can I say?
If you told me that this was gluten free after I ate it without knowing, I would have said you are lying. Very delicious food, Sui Mai is better than alot of banquet style dim sum places Ive been too. Crispy beef hit the spot as well.
We order take out all the time especially since my brother is celiac. He misses Chinese food, so is very happy that Riz is gluten free. Food is delicious, we havent been disappointed with anything weve ordered. Service is very quick as well.
This was the for time at the restaurant but the second time having their food. If it wasn t for a former Asian student of mine, my daughter who is gluten sensitive would never had the opportunity to experience such well-made Asian food. The lettuce wrap, lotus leaf; hot and sour soup; won ton soup; spring rolls; General Tsao chicken and fried rice were excellent. Service was very fast and our servers (owner included) were very welcoming. Definitely coming back! Thank you and Merry Christmas! Dietary restrictions: The gluten-free option was the drawing card for us. They did not disappoint. Thank you.
I am sensitive to gluten and dairy and had no problem eating here. The menu is pretty large, we ended up ordering dim sum which was delicious. If its quiet, be patient with service - they do a lot of takeout orders so its busier than it looks. The owner was lovely and my non-celiac group thought the food was great. Dietary restrictions: Menu is dairy free but desserts vary
Everything is so delicious that it is impossible to choose - highly recommend going with a group so you can try a bit of everything but order extra crispy beef and Thai peanut dumplings!
I had an excellent experience at Riz! A welcoming restaurant in every aspect, from the service to the delicious food! Im celiac and I highly recommend it because the food is not only safe, its also very tasty Dietary restrictions: The restaurant is 100% gluten free, safe for celiac patients.
The food is amazing. My daughter was her first time she eats dumplings. She loves it!!! We enjoyed every meal. The service is fast, the food is so special. They offered a Christmas gift which is oil bottle. Thats very nice and welcoming Kid-friendliness: My kids enjoyed the food and the stay
The Thai Dumplings were amazing! The main were outstandings as well. Vegetarian options were also very tasty
This restaurant has a dedicated gluten free kitchen. Its one of the only safe places in the city for people with celiac disease to eat, but you wouldnt even know its gluten free by the taste and texture of the food. Excellent menu selection and service.
We need a new location downtown or the east side. It s about time. As someone who doesn t eat gluten, life has been hard. I love dumplings and calamari as much as the next girl the only difference is that I don t get to eat it. It s so far away from the core that it s tough to get to. This is me reaching out to ask if you guys are even thinking of expanding to other parts of town Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
This restaurant is awesome! You would never know is gluten free. The spring rolls and the dumplings are to die for and the duck was delicious. Save some room for the coconut raspberry tart at the end, it s sooo worth at trying. The owner Terry was informative and made us feel right at home, great service! Super recommend. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free
Great food, great service, and its gluten free
I made a lunch reservation and for 4, they gave us our pick of tables, so reserve if you can but they do take walk ins. Service was friendly and the food was top notch. Very kind and enthusiastic. As a celiac it s been 20 years since I had Chinese food. Vegetarian options: Lots of yummy veggie options. Dietary restrictions: Great for celiac and dairy free- knowledgeable about all ingredients!
We had an exceptional experience at Riz Gluten Free. I was so excited to find a 100% gluten free restaurant while visiting Toronto from the States and was blown away by the quality of the food and the attentive service. We had the chicken gyoza, the Peking duck, the crispy beef, the lettuce wraps, and the beef ho fun, plus the best eclair I have ever eaten, gluten free or not. Everything was 10/10. The best food we had on our trip to Toronto, and as someone with Celiac, I was overjoyed to eat somewhere I knew was 100% safe. I ve never had gluten free dumplings this good. Even if you aren t gluten free, the food is so good you should stop in anyway. Plus the owner was so kind and paid special attention to our party s other allergies. Next time we are in Toronto we will absolutely be back!
The food is great as always. Great ambiance.
I went there on the weekend. It was really busy but the service was amazingly welcoming. Food is really on point. Definitely recommended
Incredible gluten free meals and 100% safe for celiacs. Best shrimp tempura and fried calamari since becoming gluten free. Very friendly and understanding staff. Dietary restrictions: Suitable for Celiacs.
It felt great eating somewhere where I felt safe and comfortable with my gluten allergy. I recommend to all (even if you don t have an allergy).
First time back to Toronto in five years and we very much missed the gluten free dim sum at Riz. While we felt very safe eating here in the past, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the entire menu is now gluten free. We were also delighted to see Peking Duck on the menu - what an amazing treat! Terry was an incredibly gracious host as always and we hope/wish there can be a NYC outpost someday!
Food was phenomenal and the service was top notch! A real treat and all gluten free!!
The food especially the chicken spring rolls were delicious! Im not gluten free but my boyfriend so we eat here and I can say that this food is almost on the same level as non gluten free food. Our second time here we got amazing service and some wontons on the house which we were pleasantly surprised about. They even gave us free plates which was another pleasant surprise!
Typical Chinese restaurant - except that everything is gluten free! All the food was really tasty and youd never know there wasnt any gluten in it. From dim sum to hot and sour soup to sweet and sour chicken, the whole family loved it. Given how rare it is to be able to eat gluten-free Chinese food, its wonderful to have this option. Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten free!
This place was such a great little find. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The food arrived hot and everything was delicious!! Next time we are in the area we will definitely come back.
Great gluten free place. The spring roles were amazing. Next time, were ordering 14 of them. In terms of the service, the staff were very friendly and even created a dish for us that was not on the menu!! Food
GO HERE- One of the best gluten free spots I ve ever been to. The food was incredible, the waitstaff were so friendly and there was even a dessert menu The owner was so lovely and gifted us a set of the gluten free plates they use! Would recommend the mango chicken and the spring rolls! Worth every penny!
Food is amazing and we are so blessed that it is all gluten free. Loved how we were treated and the restaurant is very cozy and modern. The best asian kitchen restaurant weve ever been to. Dietary restrictions: Everything gluten free
Calamari was incredible, will be back for more! Mmmm
Absolutely delicious! 100% gluten free with plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and dairy free options as well. Staff were welcoming and very knowledgeable about allergies. They even gifted me a set of their cute gluten free plates :) Ill be back for sure and highly recommend it to others!
This place is great! My partner has celiac disease and cannot eat gluten. There have countless gluten free substitutes I ve tried and most never compare to the real thing; not Riz though. Everything I ve had both at this location and the St Clair location have been excellent! The shrimp tempura was fried perfectly and the soft shell crab was amazing. We followed up with the wonton soup which was perfect. The tofu with cashews was out of this world and we kept picking at it even after we were full. The crispy beef was my favorite and paired with the fried rice made for a perfect meal after a long day. We finished our dinners with the fried banana which was superb. My stomach and taste buds were very happy after this meal. The service was great and the resto is very clean. Well worth the journey! I recommend Riz even if you don t have dietary restrictions.
This place is awesome! The servers were very attentive and friendly and the food was amazing. I will be back again for sure.
This place is incredible! I have Celiac and I finally got to try dumplings. Everyone was lovely. Highly recommend!! Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly
Amazing food, incredible service (Mary), definitely a must experience! We will be back!
Emily was fanastic
Thank you to Emily and Riz for such a wonderful dining experience. Being the only celiac out of my friend group, it was so great to share a bunch of dishes with them and not have to worry about what is and what is not gluten free. The food was exceptional and so was the service. We ll be back. I highly recommend Riz whether you are gluten free or not. You won t be disappointed.
Food was amazing! I have been celiac for a year and it tasted totally like the normal version but is completely safe for me, which was exciting. Emily and all the staff were so kind and helpful and even gave me a gift for my first time there! We love Riz! Will be back soon!
When you cannot have gluten or dairy, dining out is not easy. We only come into Toronto a few times a year, but Riz will be our go to . We ordered the thai peanut dumplings, crispy beef, cashew fried rice, general Tao chicken, Singapore vermicelli, and the deep fried banana for dessert. All dishes were delicious. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience! Dietary restrictions: EVERYTHING is gluten free and dairy free!
My family and I had an amazing dining experience with the 100% gluten-free menu tonight. The food was outstanding, and the service from Emily was top-notch. Terry, the owner, was incredibly kind and welcoming. A must-visit for those with gluten sensitivities/celiac or anyone who appreciates delicious cuisine! Will definitely be returning! Vegetarian options: Chili tofu + cashew was amazing! Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly!
Im a Celiac stopped in and tried Riz while on a business trip in Toronto. I brought some friends so that we could order more dishes to try. Everything was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully, and all 100% gluten free. Its such a treat to be able to order anything on the menu, and to have such a wide choice of items. Ill definitely be back next time Im in town. Dietary restrictions: Theyre very willing to accommodate other dietary restrictions. We had a member in our group with a tree nut allergy and the Riz team was very thoughtful on their answers to any questions about the dishes we had.
What a delight that everything is 100% gluten free. Mary was a delightful waitress and all of the food was delicious. We started with soups and had an assortment of dim sum, split a main dish and even tried a dessert. What a treat! Dietary restrictions: Wonderful gluten free restaurant!
Great food great service I ll be back soon!
My husband and I are currently visiting our son, who has recently relocated to Toronto. As someone with Celiac disease, it is crucial for me to find restaurants that cater to my dietary needs. Therefore, our family tradition upon arriving in Toronto is to have dinner at the Riz. This time, we decided to try out their new location situated at 3471a Yonge Street. The Riz proudly identifies itself as a 100% Gluten-Free Asian Kitchen. For individuals who are gluten-sensitive, particularly those with Celiac disease, discovering a restaurant that truly understands the challenges we face and serves exceptional food is an absolute delight. The Riz has managed to exceed our expectations in this regard. What truly sets the Riz apart is that even individuals without gluten allergies find it hard to believe that the food is gluten-free. As a Celiac, this experience allows me to feel like a regular person, enjoying a delightful evening with friends and family. The fact that everyone can partake in the same dishes without me constantly worrying about what I can or cannot eat is truly liberating. I must commend our server, Emily, for her exceptional service this evening. Her kindness and attentiveness added to the overall pleasant dining experience. Every time I dine at the Riz, I cannot help but suggest that they expand their presence to Vancouver, where I could indulge in visiting their restaurant more frequently. Our visit to the Riz in Toronto has once again reaffirmed its status as a go-to destination for individuals with gluten sensitivities, particularly those with Celiac disease. The Rizs commitment to providing a truly gluten-free dining experience, coupled with their outstanding food and exceptional service, make it a standout establishment. Dietary restrictions: Celiacs and people with GF sensitivities come and enjoy a truly stress free meal.
Loved this place! Our friends brought gf Chinese to our house for a dinner party and everything was fresh, traditional, and wonderfully tasty. Thanks so much we will be back again!!
Visiting Toronto for a few days and looked up gluten-free restaurants. Was so excited to find Riz. I ordered the wonton soup, chicken rolls, and the crispy beef. All were delicious. The rolls had a really crispy dense texture. The beef had a sweet, sour, tangy sauce that was really flavorful. I only wish I had more time to try the rest of the menu.
Owners were really nice and let us stay past closing to finish our tea, and the food was
This was some of the best Chinese food weve ever had! Every dish tasted great and the service was fantastic! Im looking forward to going back. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food and service could not have been any better - we will definitely be back!!
Food was amazing, wouldn t know it was all GF! The owner was also very friendly and helpful. Fully recommend for gluten free people, and people that don t need to eat gluten free Was also very nice knowing everything was GF so I had no worries about potential cross contamination
Not authentic asian food. Not very tasty. Very oily. I dont understand the 4.9 rating. But service was nice.
We didnt know what to expect because gluten-free can lack texture or flavour. There was no compromise here. My husband is not gluten-free and is a connoisseur of Asian cuisine. He could not discern a difference between our order and any other Asian food he had ever tasted. I highly recommend the Shrimp ha gao dim sum, chicken wonton soup, crispy beef and General Tao Chicken. We will definitely be back for more! I like the idea of the frozen take-out products that I can leave for my teens to prepare as needed. So I will probably buy that next time. Vegetarian options: Lots of choices on the menu Dietary restrictions: Every single thing on the menu is gluten-free, which is such a relief for our family. We havent enjoyed Chinese food in over a decade and it was a real treat to get this kind of quality, Parking: We got lucky and found a spot a few steps away on Yonge street, I would not rely on that and have a plan b if I was going during the week. Wheelchair accessibility: The doors are a bit awkward to get in and the bathrooms are downstairs
Halal and gluten free. Awesome dumplings. Friendly service. Very casual spot.
CELIAC SAFE!!! Went with a friend (I m celiac and they re gluten sensitive) and everything we ate was amazing!!! All the food was so good we spent almost $60 each and we probably would ve eaten more if we didn t get full!! Will go again, so good!! Service was friendly and quick - a spot I highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: COMPLETELY gluten free and CELIAC SAFE
My mother and I just had the most amazing lunch. I havent had authentic Asian food in well over a decade since having my allergies diagnosed and the experience was incredible. The wonton soup tasted exactly like I remember, the dishes were served hot and promptly, and they had gluten free and dairy free eclairs, which was a truly marvelous surprise. I highly recommend and will certainly be going back (and checking the website to take advantage of their frozen order options)! Thank you so so much Dietary restrictions: They are certified gluten free and dairy free!
Ordered through Uber eats. $15 for 5 tempura shrimp is just too much, as well as the rice portion being very small. Paid over $50 and didn t Feed me and my two under 5 kids. Rip off
Absolutely incredible food! Fabulous location, service and unbeatable experience for a no-stress-about-gluten Asian dining experience. Best peking duck! Kid-friendliness: Very lovely staff happy to help with my little kids (gave them a couple of pens to entertain them). Didnt have crayons for the paper table cloth or booster seats, but the table worked well enough for us.
Service and food were both absolutely amazing, would recommend to anyone who needs to eat gluten free or not
Wow. What a night. Went for a friends birthday (who is celiac) they made her feel so special! The food was fantastic, the service was magnificent and they even gave us a fun birthday surprise! I ll be back, and it won t be just once! Keep doing what you do!
Delicious gluten-free food. Pricy, but worth it.
Got take out, so happy to be able to eat out and the gluten free food tastes amazing. Will be going back, try their crispy beef, amazing!! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Parking: Parked in loblaws
incredible experience! 100% gluten free. The Peking duck was a true masterpiece, perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor. The pancakes were phenomenal. The veggie and chicken spring rolls were a delightful appetizer that left me wanting more. Softshell crab was incredible. What truly made the experience exceptional was the outstanding customer service provided by Emily. Her attentiveness and knowledge of the menu made the evening unforgettable. I cant wait to return to Riz for more delicious food and wonderful service. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten and dairy free. Yes, I said everything.
Amazing food where everything was 100% Gluten-Free. Even though I didn t not have any gluten allergy, it is worth going to this place. But if the person wants gluten free food, very recommended
As a fellow celiac, it felt amazing eating authentic Asian cuisine again!!! I hadn t had dumplings or dim sum for years and I was finally able to have it again. The food was phenomenal, 10/10 would recommend. They are 100% gluten-free and dairy-free
The food is absolutely incredible! Often with gluten free food lacks quality and actually tasting like what you order due to substitutions, however, that is NOT the case at all; the quality was outstanding and the flavor and texture was incredible. This is the best gluten free food Ive had in years. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and she is equally incredible - super friendly, passionate, and cares about the celiac community.
Very good service! They learned we were limited for time due to a flight to catch and they accommodated and got our food out to us timely! Delicious and flavour rich 100% gluten free Asian cuisine. As a person with celiac disease it was a dream to be able to order anything on the menu without having to ask any questions. Will be back next time I m visiting Toronto.
Having Suffered With Celiac for 20 Years.. This Establishment Is Amazing and a True Gem.... Tears Of Joy ;) And is Absolutely The Best Asian Restaurant In Toronto. Even if You Are Not G/F... Food with so much good flavor.. it bites you back.. just wow <3 The Staff is Top Notch.. Keep Up The Great Work Riz Dietary restrictions: Completely Safe G/F Restaurant Kid-friendliness: Bring the Whole Family
Food was great. Bonus for us was that our kids liked it. I didnt really get the vibe that this place was kid friendly, so if I return it would be without kids Kid-friendliness: No kids menu and too tight of a space for anything bigger than a small travel stroller.
From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a warm atmosphere and some great Christmas music and decorations. Some of the best gluten free Asian food we have had in a long time. The staff were amazing and lets us sample some favourite menu items. We will definitely be going back and worth the drive to Toronto!
It was so delicious ! First time since I have coeliac disease that I can eat gluten free asiatique food The owner is also so nice.
Im not going to bury the lede here - this isnt just a great gluten-free restaurant, its a great restaurant, period. The food is excellent; my SO (who is celiac) absolutely devoured everything we ordered - though regrettably we missed asking for the dessert menu, an oversight we will absolutely be rectifying on our next visit. We started with shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura as appetizers; both were perfectly crispy, with no off-flavours from the batter or the oil. The beef broccoli was great, but the pad see ewe was the surprise standout. The real kicker was discovering there was a frozen prepared meals section, which we took full advantage of. We wound up chatting with the owner, who let us know that the full menu was available for take-away frozen meals if ordered in advance, which was very much appreciated. Will definitely be coming back - when the holidays take us down to Toronto to visit, Riz will definitely be included in the meal planning for the celebrations. Dietary restrictions: Menu is certified gluten free. Staff are also very aware of other allergens (specifically nuts) and dishes with nuts are marked on the menu. Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance is not wheelchair accessible; bathroom is down a flight of stairs.
Its one of my favorite restaurants. The restaurant is completely gluten free. Being allergic to gluten, I could never have soups, appetizers and desserts anywhere! This restaurant lets me have delicious all rounded menu without risk of contamination! Even my friends without any allergies have a fantastic time here! This is a great haven for gluten free people! Dont miss out! Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
This restaurant is AMAZING! 100% gluten free!! My mom and I came in from out of town and our experience was great. The service went above and beyond; food came out quickly and the staff was so kind. All the food we tried was fresh and delicious, my non-GF mom said it didn t taste gluten free at all. Would recommend to anyone, gluten free or not.
The owner is discriminatory. They just want to serve elite customers. They were shocked to see person of color and different ethnicity. All of their reviews are fake and bought. You can tell my reading it the way they are explained. If you wanna experience same discriminatory treatment, go there and look bit middle class and you will shown way out or treated differently. There are other good restaurants in city and have food and lovable treatment towards customers. We should support them. This kind of places should be closed.
I recently enjoyed an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant. The service was impeccable, and the owners personal touch added a special experience to the evening. The gluten-free options were extensive, and each dish, including dessert, showcased a perfect blend of flavors. Highly recommended for a memorable night.
Wow. Everything we tried was delicious. Its such a treat to be able to enjoy flavoursome Asian food, which is usually off-limits as a celiac. We had the egg rolls, gyoza and Peking duck with pancakes. Unbelievably good! Plus you can tell its made with love. Owner came to chat with us and was a wonderful host. Highly recommend!
Wow!!!!! Definitely coming back. The food was INCREDIBLE The service was so nice and warm. I went with a friend who is not Gluten free and she loved the food and couldn t taste the difference!
Amazing food and experience. Lovely staff. Couldn t recommend enough!
We had an amazing experience at Riz for my birthday! Service was spectacular and the food was to die for!
My brother and I chose Riz Gluten-free Asian Kitchen based on reviews and we are so happy with the entire experience. I am celiac (he is not) and we both thoroughly enjoyed the food. Every dish was amazing and to be able to order and share food with the confidence that it was all gluten free felt like a gift. We will definitely be back.
Unbelievably delicious meal, celiac safe! We had dim sum like shu mai, ha ghow, and tried their delicious spring rolls, crispy beef and must try fried rice! Cant believe a restaurant went to this length to make truly delicious gluten free options. Worth the trip!
Just had dinner for the first time at the Yonge location which is now entirely gluten free and it was so good! Even my family who are not gluten free thought it was fantastic. It is such a joy to be able to look at a full menu and know that I can choose anything I want and still be safe. The staff was all wonderful and the decor and atmosphere was lovely as well. I can t wait to go back!
Fantastic all around! Their entire menu is gluten-free, and it s so nice seeing my celiac mum have so many options! I myself don t have any gluten restrictions, and I know (having a celiac mum) how hit-and-miss GF foods are, but everything we had was absolutely to die for. Couldn t tell it was GF at all!! Service was lovely too!! Food is not cheap, but not overpriced for something of this quality, and honestly pretty average for Toronto.
Amazing. Next level gluten free food. I go every time Im in Toronto. My boyfriend loves too, and he s not gf. I love not having to worry about cross contamination or having to explain gluten free to waiters. Get the crispy beef!!!
