390 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON M4K 1P3, Canada
Cheerful, long-standing taverna offering grilled meats & seafood, plus other Greek cuisine.
We were trying to find a place to eat before a comedy show and we needed a quick bite to eat. Luckily, this place wasn’t packed on a Friday night and we were able to get a table right away. The service was fine and the food was good. We started with the Golden Fried Calamari and we both got different sandwiches. The meat was seasoned well although the chunks were on the larger side which made difficult to eat without getting messy. Definitely no shame in eating with a fork and knife.
June 2024 Absolutely delicious food here. We didn't stay long as we had to dine and dash to go to the theatre. Would definitely recommend.
Stefanos was the one who attended us & was an amazing service. Everything we asked for he helped us with it. The Lamb Souvlaki was spectacular & the baked potatoes melted in the mouth like butter. I’ll definitely recommend this place to my fellow Torontonians. The Greek Salad was great too. We took the Blakava to go! 10/10
I have been here twice and I like it but the quality and service can be inconsistent. The first time we went the food was amazing, but the second time we went the potatoes and rice were quite soggy. The chicken was good still though, and the tzatziki is always amazing.
One of my favourite Greek restaurants! It's so conveniently located, right by a GreenP and the Chester subway. The food is always delicious, especially their hummus. I went for dinner with my family and got the grilled calimari and rice and potatoes which is my go-to order, but they also cook lamb perfectly instead of grossly overcooking so I also often get lamb as well. Highly recommend, everything on the menu is delicious. The staff are so friendly and lovely and the restaurant has a very family-oriented vibe.
Came here for a date night with wife. We had tried another place nearby but was too busy so we went to Astoria where we had gone when dating. Lovely food, great service - all the wonderful things we remember of the Astoria. Highly recommended and glad we came back.
Disappointing. My husband has been here for over 20 years and today he took me there for Mother’s Day (my first time). The place was half empty .. already a red flag. We ordered calamari to share and it was the worst we’ve ever had. No salt, over cooked, just super plain tasting. Kids ordered their meal and they both did not even finish half of it. Chicken souvlaki was dry and not seasoned. Once my husband and I received our meal, we also could not finish it. The chicken souvlaki was just not good. The only tasty thing that we received was the Saganaki (actually flavourful and delicious) . Other than that, paid $170 for nothing . We’ve been to Pantheon(right across from them) go there instead .
Very accessible, we could get seating right away on a Saturday night. Frankly, pretty disappointed with the food quality. I think it's fair to say that the price is on the higher side especially considering the portion sizes and poor presentation. Greek Salad - I found some pink parts on the lettuce and overdressing made it soggy Saganaki – good, enjoyed with pita breads Grilled Calamari – weirdly tasteless though looked seasoned well, no fresh then sort of squishy Chicken Souvlaki – I felt it overcooked and dried Moussaka – way too greasy with excess oils not coming from the beef. Their service didn’t make up for it, actually she made my experience even worse. She was almost rude, rarely gave me eye contact and mostly talked only to my company even when I asked some about the menu to her. I guess this was because the friend is a male and obviously elder than me, but anyway quite uncomfortable. There’s no reason coming back here overall, we have lots of much better Greek restaurants in this area.
Have been eating at this place both take out and dine in for over 10 years and love it. If you like your tzatziki with a lot of garlic this is your spot!
My favourite Greek restaurant ever! Everything is perfect and it s one of my go tos for lunch and dinner. Their weekday lunch special is reasonable too and they have specific weekday specials too. I think this franchise is my favourite restaurant now.
Great servixe. We ate outside on a patio. Hubby is an avid fan of calamari and declared this was the best he has ever had! Great saganaki and terrific Greek salad! Opa!! Do note that our bill also included 5 alcoholic drinks, which affects the cost per person.
We got catering for a relative large gathering and the food and service everything we could ask. Guest loved the food and Nixon gave us a reasonable price and way more than enough food for our guest. Been coming here for to dine in for years and will gladly return in the future.
Small portions compared to the price and the quality is average. Server was nice.
The staff is very nice, efficient and welcoming, especially Linda. The food is so delicious. This restaurant has become a favorite in Toronto.
Traditional Greek Fair. First class service and the best Souvlaki in town.
Best Souvlaki Lamb in Astoria restaurant at Danforth!!! We were celebrating our friends BDay, Tural was helping us on my friend special day, he made her day, all the food was delicious and he was always around, when we needed him, thanks Tural for that little chocolate cheesecake with candle, it was a blast!!! Keep up this good job! I haven t visited Astoria restaurant for the past 15 years, will definitely recommend to my family and friends to visit this beautiful place!
Ive been going to this restaurant since I was a child. The service and food have always been excellent!
Fantastic service, delicious food, and a lovely venue Dina served us with an air of professionalism and friendliness that made our experience so much better. Astoria is a pillar of Greektown s culinary experience and its staff will prove that to you every chance they get with their service. Highly recommended!
Hello, water cup is empty :) how dare you tip options is from 18% ?? Ridiculous
Food was mediocre at best. Protein was seasoned. Well not so much the sides Old decor more the furniture I mean. Closes to early imo Food
I had a very nice time and I ate very tasty... Thank you.
Food was great, portions seemed a little small but honestly was enough to fill us up. Prices are really decent and menu was user-friendly.
Deena is amazing! Food was incredible
I purchased the calamari appetizer. It was the worst calamari I ve ever had! They were breaded, greasy, coating dark in colour (obviously over cooked) and tasteless.
It s like eating in Europe. The food is ok but the service sucks. Waited 40 minutes for the main course souvlaki after I finished my salad. It was a Friday evening but the place was not really packed. The kicker was having to ask three servers for me to get the bill. It s not worth fighting danforth traffic to eat here.
Love this place. Eat here fairly regularly. Great Greek food.
Ordered traditional chicken souvlaki. Amazing such a fun to go on weekend brunch. Nice selection of cocktails too!
Since 1983 I have been taking My Girlfriend now Wife. To this restaurant.
Service was great very friendly staff. Nice ambiance and family and baby friendly. Great saganaki. Wish the pita had been grilled. Horiatiki salad was not good. Drenched in huge pieces of tomatoes and olive oil. Didn t seem fresh but was alright. GREAT lamb chops amazingg and for the price as well $26. Amazing lamb ! The rice however was mushy I thought it was from the tomato sauce they put on it but it was the rice itself and bland. Taziki was way too much garlic but still good and the tirokafteri I ordered tasted like a dill dip was good but not what it s supposed to be. Overall the prices are amazing but food needs improvement forsure. But there are staple items that are really good. Thank you
Weve been going to Astoria for several years and always have a great experience. Food is always excellent! We are often served by Dina who is always very friendly and efficient!
Great service. The food hasnt changed in the 35 years I have been going. It is good, but not great.
Great looking place but the food and service was lacking
Food was good and Dina, our server, was particularly helpful! A very pleasant experience.
my friend and i came here tonight before the Hanson concert, told the hostess we were in a rush and they really had us in and out without making us feel rushed. the food was fabulous, we both had chicken souvlaki dinners and the tzatziki is TO DIE FOR. warning- it s very garlicky and almost spicy because there s so much garlic but i loved it! if i wasn t in a rush i would have remembered to grab a container of it to bring home, but i did bring home leftovers that i shared with my hubby and it was still amazing hours later. the server was friendly, quick and just generally very pleasant. the price seemed a little high however for the amount of food and quality we got we were not complaining at all and we would definitely go again! and the baklava was soooooo good, we could have probably shared a piece if we knew how big it was going to be but again, we aren t complaining because that just gave us more to bring home. thank you for such a great dining experience, we will be back!
We ate outdoors.
I love coming to this restaurant. I am always happy with the food and service. Today, I had Dina as my server and she was great efficient, attentive and on top of things. This is my go-to Greek restaurant in Toronto.
Love their beef kabob!
Excellent as always, no complaints
Great and fast service with delicious food. Chicken dinner is great value.
nice place and staff . Thank you Elia
The food is good, 3/5 for food. It s not mind blowing but it s good, no complaints. Portions are good too, but I got the large main so I can t speak for the regular size. Also, it s not authentic Greek food. Their Greek salad is a North American Greek Salad, with lettuce, but honestly that s not a huge deal as most people like it that way and the taste/flavour is there. The service was horrendous though. This girl didn t give a shiiiiiiiiite. Slamming plates down, no eye contact, looking at her other tables while serving us, water glasses never filled once, tone of voice and attitude that said I don t want to be here. And here s the kicker. It s expensive. It becomes more expensive in your mind because of the bad service. I m thinking now I m paying $80 for just two mains after tax and tip and I m getting this level of service. All of a sudden things don t check out, things are off balance. This place hiked their prices up post Covid like everyone else but they re stilling hiring non servers, people who have next to no skill. That s not good. My main was like $35, that s in the territory of fine dining pricing only with fine dining they send you off sailing, this server sent me off conflicted. Atmosphere was nice. Their patio has this Santorini vibe, it s cute. It s a high volume family style, walk in without a reservation type place only with pretty high prices, mediocre service and good food .take away the food and this place would be dead in the water. 3/5
I cant start without expressing how much my family and I appreciate visiting Astoria on Danforth! Every time we arrive Melanie goes above and above to meet the requirements for me and my family to sit and eat, Melanie has consistently ensured that we always leave Astoria smiling. The meals have always arrived hot and delicious... my family and I will definitely be coming back. Thank you Astoria and thank you Melanie for your great service!
Dina was fab!
Amazing place with amazing food
I did a takeout of chicken Souvlaki on a bun and order of fries and can of coke for $35! Talk about charging me double because Im handicapped my legs dont work but my brain does! Shame on you for taking advantage of the disabled like that! Saturday, September 14th at 3:30pm. I called in my order and when I went to pick it up he said $34.99. Shame. Ntropi.
This restaurant has been here for such a long time but I never had the opportunity to try it until today. The pork souvlaki platter and the grilled calamari were great for sharing. Very juicy and has lots of flavour. The server Dina was very nice and gave us good recommendations on what to order.
Always a great place. Service is great and food even better.
Astoria is a great, casual lunch spot for our book club gatherings. We sit inside when the weather is bad, but mostly love the patio in summer. The food is good Greek fare and our server, Dani was so friendly and accommodating. Happy to recommend it!
The food was not great. The essence of souvlaki is adding the special blend of Greek spices. This pork souvlaki lacked in flavors. The spanakopita was from frozen. The server was fantastic though. The food needs a re-boot.
A couple of years ago this would ve been a 5 star review. After my last experience there I ve been disappointed. This was my favourite Greek spot but it seems to be in decline, the food and ambience all seem to have taken a dive. The tzatziki is still amazing though
Like in Greece!
Went there last night with a friend to have dinner before going to a show at the Music Hall. Food was excellent and as the weather was nice we sat out on the patio.
Love this place! Food is always amazing and staff are super nice and welcoming all the time.
Dina was amazing and the food was excellent
It is sad to see how this place has gone down. The amount and quality of the food is not what it used to be. I had the vegetarian souvlaki, they changed the dish but I was not informed about it until it arrived. Was looking so badly for the dollmades and spanakopita! I would have order differently if I knew the change but even the waitress didn t know the change!!!! Other person in our party order the beef souvlaki. He was not happy with the change either. It is a shame when good places stop caring. On the good side, Saganaki was good and the tzatziki is still pretty good.
I have been coming here since I was a little guy, 40 years now! It has changed over the years, yes, but its a fantastic place to come for a great meal. My favorite is the pork souvlaki dinner or on a bun. When Im in the area Ill stop in and grab two or three pork souvlaki on a bun. One for the trip home, and then meals for the next day or two on top.
Celebrated my son s baptism a couple weeks ago in their more private seating area. We were about 30 adults and a few kids. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. My guests had lamb chops, pork/chicken souvlaki, or salmon. Everyone raved about the food. For appetizers we ordered dips, saganaki, and fried calamari. Once again we were very pleased with the quality of the food and the taste. The service was also excellent and the servers very attentive. Don t hesitate to book your function here! We will definitely be back!
stopped in to get a bite to go. I was indecisive (I always am) but the gentleman helping me was so patient. I couldn t decide if I wanted a pita or a plate - ended up going with the plate. when I got home I was so delightfully surprised to find a hot pita wrapped up in the bag. just so kind and thoughtful! (food was also excellent!!)
Came in for a quick bite at Astoria , service was amazing shout out to Melanie for going above and beyond for us!
Dina was great
Amazing experience as always. Dina was a fantastic server. Been coming since I was a little kid and the food is awesome.
The food was very good, and quick. The waitress Dina was friendly and great. Parking: It was beautiful Food : 5/5 |
Food is over priced for what you get. Go across the street for better Greek food!!!!
Astoria is one of my favorite restaurants! The food and the service are awsome! Dina was our server and took care of us like you wouldnt believe. Fast efficient and very nice to deal with. Totally recommend Astoria and if you get the chance to meet Dina please say hello!
Astoria is a classic! Best Greek food in town. Parking is always fun here but we found a spot in the green p behind the restaurant. Service was really good, as always. Food was hot. Calamari was excellent! I think the tzatziki recipe had recently changed (or at least it was different than usual this time around). Service was really good! Will be coming back :) Parking: Parking in street and at the back in the green p lot.
The food is always delicious here and the service is amazing! I highly recommend the Saganaki. My server Serena did an amazing job and was very friendly!!!
Great food, Dinas service was awesome aswell highly recommend
Great food and good customer service by Dina
Our server Dina was great and kind. Good service, good portion sizes and good quality food!
Underwhelming experience no bread was brought to table no refills on drinks was offered our food came at different times so our party was sitting there with no bread and no food , I recommend many other better places on danforth to enjoy Greek food.
kitchen guy is very rude he intentionally let me wait 15min for food pickup he is very arrogant and rude
The experience is very good - good, service and experience. Dina is very warm and helpful. Will be back again.
Very dependable!! Highly recommend classics like Souvlaki and grilled calamari.
This place has gone downhill since new owners. pork souvlaki still great, but tzatziki not as good and price has gone through the roof. this caucasian waiter was awful and incompetent, not to mention arrogant. sadly, after frequenting this once beloved resto for over 30 yrs, we wont be going back.
We had a wonderful family lunch today and Dina and her co workers were absolute stars! No request too great, every suggestion Dina made was perfect and she was a delight. One of the staff even remembered our aunt from other visits and came to chat with us. We had the best experience, and the best food! Kid-friendliness: So amazing with the kids and their meals
Just ordered the lamb souvlaki sandwich. The sandwich was fine but very tiny for the price tag. Definitely not worth it.
My favorite restaurant at this address (390 Danforth Ave., Toronto) for the last 40 years!!!
So yummy and fast, friendly service! Dina was wonderful!
It s always great having dinner at Artoria. I ve been going here for over 20 years and it s been great.
we had the server Dina on the danfourth and she was absolutely fabulous! food and service was incredible we didnt want to leave ! looking forward to coming back!
Celebrated a special occasion! As always, tasty food, excellent service and great atmosphere!
dont know why people rate them so bad. the food is pretty taste and quality not bad at all
Food has gone downhill was much better and the manager is very rude not happy at all with the direction their quality has gone cause THEY USED TO BE THE BEST used to sing them praises.hope they can get the quality and good attitude back
Astoria was once one of the top 3 restaurants on the Danforth. What the heck happened to this place? Its been some years since I visited and the food has gone DOWNHILL. How does a greek restaurant mess up a staple like chicken souvlaki??? It was dry, it was tasteless, too much oregano. The tzaziki is waaaaay too strong. And the worst thing on the menu is the fried calamari. It is DISGUSTING. Rubbery, stringy. Awful. I left a review for the Astoria in Richmond Hill with the same complaint about their calamari. It seems they serve the same cheap quality calamari in both places. I dont want to see the restaurant respond and say they take all reviews seriously because clearly, they dont. Never going back.
Hands down my favourite Greek food place! Ive been going since I was 8 years old and its still amazing! Keep up the good work Astoria!
Had souvlaki with rice and potatoes. Very tasty.
Dated decor, the main part of the food, the Greek souvlaki, the meat was overdone and could have been leaner. Greek fare items like salad, rice , and potatoes are good. Starter hummus and tzitzki woth pita were garlicky and delicious.
The food and service was amazing!!!
Was displeased with the service waiter very rude
Dina was wonderful, true asset to the business! Food is always great. Five stars!
Nice store food. Dina was great.
Food was great and was very authentic, service was great as well
The chicken shish kebob with fries was amazing.
Worst calamari I ever had in my life. Chicken was dry. Potatoes were bland. The server was really nice though. Very expensive for how bad the food was. Jimmy the Greek in the mall food court is somehow better.
If youve never been you have to try this place... the pork souvlaki is to die for... and honestly the best tzaziki in Toronto... buy one get one 50% off on Tuesday for the pork souvlaki combo... best deal in the city in my eyes... this place is a gem! Almost forgot the saganaki and greek salad is so delicious u cant pass it up! Combo comes with the salad as well you wont be disappointed Parking: Parking is a minute walk away costs about $3 for enough time to finish your meal
Im not sure why this place is so busy. The service was good but the food is extremely under seasoned. Its a shame you pay $25 for an entre and its oily and bland. If youre a no salt kind of person, Im sure youd enjoy the food Food : 1/5
Excellent service great food. i had a friend who is a crew member in Viking cruisers and was visiting Toronto for a few hours and we went to eat Greek food and all the dishes we ordered were so delicious and Dina our server was amazing and very kind when she spoke to us, she was excellent, a perfect 100% in making us feel so comfortable
So friendly and the food was delicious
I visit weekly because the food is great, Dina and staff look after us so well!
Excellent dinner tonight! Great food and great service! Thanks Ada
Had lunch very good
Very very disappointed. The horrors my mouth experienceed is only equal to the lame service we received. I can only hope that my experience as well as my familys negative experience is based on disorganization and not race. However I really truly do believe that its a race issue. Every single table had drinks, these tables had white/light skin individuals, We are all dark skin. we asked for two drinks, never showed up. we ordered two appetizers, we had to ask twice to receive them. Never going again and I will be filing a complaint with the city. This is Toronto, there is no room for racism.
Fav Greek food!
Stefanos was an amazing server! Attentive, friendly and the food was divine. Super fresh.
Food quality has gone way down It used to be so much better before
Great food.
Food was delicious service was good. Don t mind pay higher price but portion needs to be improved
Neighborhood staple
I took my whole family out for my mother s birthday last night and we decided to hit this tried and true spot on the danforth, and those days are over. The food quality and quantity has dropped terribly. The Greek salad was embarrassing. The chicken and beef souvlaki dinners were small, dry and over cooked(we ordered medium rare for the beef and got well done). The side of mixed vegetables used to be huge cuts of green peppers and broccoli, now it s tiny chunks of green peppers and unfresh string beans. The only thing I can say positively about this old establishment is that the waitress was amazing, she was sweet, kind and professional. I will not be coming back here for any occasion. It greatly saddens me that this spot has lost its touch.
Always a great experience overall.
Authentic Greek cuisine served with a warm smile a delightful dining experience!
This place is very spacious, lots of parties and still room and not noisy for regulars to sit down and enjoy our dinner. Great portion for the price too
Always a great dinner. Love their tzatziki and lamb
We have ate food there for many years. Did they change owners? Food quality was awful. Spent over 80 dollars on a dinner for 4 and burnt calamari. The frozen calamari was obviously precooked and then reheated and was black in colour and very small portion (rings only). The calamari cost 18. The Tazaiki was pink and tasted funny. The salad was old and small portion and 2 tiny vegetable oil containers (not olive oil) with no vinegar and no seasonings. The reheated pork and chicken were dried out and hard to chew even the dog didnt like it. Rice tasted dried out like it had been cooked days ago. I tried filling out your online form as suggested and no response.
DINA was amazing server.
You can not get better Greek food ANYWHERE!! The absolute best tzatziki ANYWHERE!!
Sorry but being honest food not like the Astoria I new food was ahh mediocre and cleaning burning the grill will u have people eating not a good idea but good luck
Costly but memorable.
They have their own special recipes for their pork souvlaki and tzatziki which are a bit different from traditional Greek but wow - really my favourite in the city. Their village salad is also very good, and saganaki is delicious. I often recommend this place to my xeni friends who want to try Greek cuisine.
This restaurant will always be the best Greek food on the Danforth. Ask for Stefano.... Hes a great Server. Kid-friendliness: They have lots of options for kids if they dont want traditional Greek food
Rude and horrible experience with staff
Dina and the service team was great ! Amazing food !
Love the food, the service, and the Greek vibe!!
Great food, great selection, great prices Toronto institution
Excellent service, food, quality and portions! Recommended
Went on a Saturday with a large group of family; called a few days earlier to ensure that the party could be accommodated - tables were setup without issue. Our server Gina was personable, friendly, and showed admirable patience having to explain and re- explain the various dishes to members of the party whove never had Greek food before. Food came out in a timely manner, tasted great, nice and fresh. Astoria has always been a go-to for me in the past, and although I havent been in over 10 years, there was no change in quality. Will always return to this restaurant.
Such a welcoming and friendly restaurant! Went there for my first birthday, now going there for my anniversary.
My favourite Greek restaurant. My family has loved Astoria and been enjoying their food and atmosphere for 30+ years. The pork souvlaki has always been my go-to selection, and I LOVE their tzatziki. The pork skewers are always cooked well, not overdone, and the rice and potatoes are a comfort food for me. Astoria tzatziki has a thick yogourt consistency and A LOT of garlic flavour. As a tzatziki lover, I think it s my favourite. And the pita bread they serve is so good. I usually call ahead to place an order if doing takeout, and never had any issues. Service is always awesome.
Always reliable....yummy pork kebab!!
Love this place. The atmosphere, the location and the food is stellar .
Delicious eats!!
A lifetime of great meals here
Not a single redeeming quality. I recieved pork instead of chicken. Meat was seasoned with only seasoning salt. No lemon, no oregano, nothing. Rice and potatoes were overcooked, oily and again covered in seasoning salt. Someone needs to taste the tzatziki before sending it to customers. The amount of raw garlic is rediculous. Salad was bland and dressing was oily. I wish I read reviews first. What a waste.
Great food, fresh, tasty, good portions. Our server Dina was friendly and competent, gave us just the right amount of attention. Weve been coming here for years and will keep coming back. This location is our favorite, worth the drive from Oak Ridges.
The Good - Seated my group of five on a Saturday at 6pm, Staff was Friendly and service was good. Got Souvlaki, Calamari dinners, Portions were very nice. Tvs are well placed for sports fans.. The Bad Some meals come with sakad, Cost 8 dollars to add average Greek salad to each dinner. Vegetables were more like unseasoned green beans. 9 dollars for Coors Lite is pricey. Spanikopita was stale or way overcooked. Parking is rough. Grade Nothing great about this once legendary establishment. Average at best.
awesome food! would definitely come back again and the staff were very friendly
Consistency since 1972, that is something to appreciate. Ive been a customer since the 80s because I know what to expect, great service, good food and nice place to have a conversation.
Wonderful restaurant! They hosted our wedding reception of around 50 people and didnt miss a request. Super professional and efficient. The food was delicious, fresh, and the portions were good. I would recommend Astoria for a family dinner or group event.
Good food and ambience. They play Greek music which can add to your experience. Overall it is a good dining place. Can be improved definitely. The service was a little slow at this location.
Meat was a little tough. Price was expensive for quantity. Value did not work for me in terms of price.
Waited 40 minutes for our main dishes to arrive. When they did they were warm at best. Waitress was nice, clearly overworked, but the service was pretty substandard (agreed upon by everyone in our dinner party). Food was very lackluster for the price youre paying (around $25 for a main course). It had the atmosphere of a family restaurant from the 90s, with pretty much the same quality. One of our group ordered fresh vegetables and they had no taste, just bland as bland can be. Had another person confirm it, didnt even bother to finish. Fries looked and tasted bland, as well. Retirees might love this food, but thats about it. Had to wrangled someone to bring us the cheque and never considered dessert because we didnt have another 40 minutes to spare just waiting around for overpriced dessert too. Really disappointing.
Love this place! Been going a few times a year. Their grilled calamari is the best!
Things have really changed alot here. It used to have line ups. Had just a few people eating in. It was reasonable priced before now expensive. I did notice they do have some takeout specials first part of the week.
Food portions are huge. Food is delicious. Staff is super busy but make up for it with great service. Had the guy server. He was super! Nice guy! Will definitely come here again Second time coming. Once again. Perfect visit. Service and food is amazing brought my neice for lunch, visiting from out of town. Great place to eat and catch up. We had a splendid time!
Just picked up a pork and chicken souvlaki to go. My opinion is Astoria has lost its Greek flavour and half of what it used to be.; I will never go back and have been going there since the 70s. Size and quality does matter when there is so many options . Overpriced poor quality.
Dina was the best! She was kind, patient, happy and efficient with our loud, large, staggered entry group. She willingly and expertly took memorable photos for our dear colleagues retirement.
Ordered for pick up and meal did not come with tzatziki and cutlery (I erred on the tzatziki when I went back to ask for it. Anyone whos had to go back to get something understands the frustration of having to return). As for the cutlery this was the second time - but the managers response was we are not mind readers, we dont know if you need cutlery. Its our policy to not give it out unless you ask Interesting, how about asking your customers if they need it instead of assuming they dont. Looks like they care more about cutting costs than providing service. So I guess I have to eat with my hands.
Times are tough
Had not been here in decades. Still a good place for Souvlaki. Someone else paid so I can not speak to that. Thank you Food : 4/5 |
Very good place, amazing food and great prices!!
great place for Greek food
Had great service from our server Dina, who was quick and efficient and friendly! Checked in on us just enough to not be bothersome but well taken care of. Food was delicious as well.
Awesome visit ahead of the game. Great service provided by Dina! Food was great and will look forward to the next visit!
LI love it. Quality food, quality service. Thank you dina
I love the moussaka dinner here. And their Greek salad is my favorite. Also I love the ambiance the staff are always very friendly and attentive and make you feel so comfortable, like family. Today s server was DIna and she was awesome! She made me feel like I knew her my whole life. Stefanos was also helping and he was very funny and entertaining. It s a very lively vibrant place on a Saturday night & everyone is has lively conversations & lots of good vibes & happiness in the air. It s one favourite greek restaurants on the danforth. I come back always! I often do takeout, but I prefer to sit in. Vegetarian options: Even if you only had the salad & roast potatoes or rice and fries, you d be a half a camper. They are my favourite place for roast potatoes & greek salad! Parking: It s less than one minute walk to the well lit parking lot. Kid-friendliness: It s just a very family oriented setting. The kids are always happy here. Wheelchair accessibility: It s street entry level to both the inside and the patio. Plenty of tables to accommodate the chairs.
Sadly Astoria is not what it once was. The food in now just okay, the prices are on the high side and the service is not even close to adequate... the waiter my wife and I had was indifferent. Several items (Greek beer, Merlot wine, etc.) on the menu we not available. I even heard from another table the waiter say they didnt have chocolate milk, which is also on the menu. This shows how inept Astorias current management is. When you charge the prices Astoria is charging you expect a reasonably good dining experience, which was the case years back, but no longer. Given that Astoria is in Torontos Greek town, there are many much better Greek dining options close by, which I suggest you take advantage of.
This place used to be good. Now, the food is mediocre at best and the service is subpar. The prices are too high for the quality. I would not recommend it.
My go-to for Greek food in Toronto. Been going here since the 80s!
Dina was our waitress and she was wonderful! Thank you so much. We loved the garlicy taziki and saganaki as well as the souvlaki and roasted potatoes. It was a lovely dinner.
first off when we first walked in there was noone so that already wasnt a good impression for a sunday night. not only was the food absolutely un edible but i almost lost my life in there eating that rubbery calamar as it got wedged in my throat and i had to wash it down with nothing better than some tap water. dont even get me started on that garlic tzatziki . my mouth tasted like garlic for days after that and all in all everything was gross, how do you mess up fries? dont go here youre better off getting mcdonalds. the vampires are laughing watching the customers walking out of there eating that disgusting garlic tzatziki.
The food was delicious and always, love love love the souvlaki! Great, friendly service.
First time I ve been here and it was lovely. I went with my friend and we both enjoyed ourselves. I don t have much experience with Greek food but this was very delicious. The chicken and pork souvlaki was seasoned and cooked perfectly. We both got 2 of each and shared. The tzatziki wasn t like traditional tzatziki with cucumbers but it was delicious. The dolmades were good tho they taste good from the can too and are cheaper. For the mains with both got calamari. She got the fried and I got the grilled. The fried tasted better but I m glad I got to try the grilled. It was reasonably priced for what it is. The sides were savoury and rice and baked potatoes. Both were good but nothing groundbreaking. The server was very nice and attentive. Very happy with the service. Also as a side note the washroom was very clean and actually smelled nice, doesn t happen often for a public washroom lol All in all i had a great experience and I would go again.
Service was good, food tasted like a hotel buffet that had been sitting out all day. Wont be back
We have been dining in at Astoria for many years - clean and welcoming atmosphere with a family feel! As soon as you walk in, you feel as though you re walking into a Greek household. The food is excellent and we had the pleasure of being served by Dina. She was kind and pleasant, and our experience overall amazing. Highly recommend the flaming cheese and chicken souvlaki dinner with tzatziki. The mousaka (not pictured here) is also a delicious Greek staple.
Pork soulvaki was fatty. Greek salad was excellent. Service was good.
The Authentic Greek Cuisine. Excellent Service Quality !.
Service was fast and pleasant. Food was solid. Thanks for a filling lunch!
Was really unimpressed with Astoria. The place lacked any sort of atmosphere, we were seated in the corner away from the main area and felt a bit neglected. The food is on or below par, feels like something you d get at a fast food Greek place, but at premium prices. The beef souvlaki was tough and completely lacked flavour. Will not be returning.
Dina took care of us really well. Quick and warm service. Great hearty food. Great lamb!
Great food. Dina served us and was lovely. Food
I recently visited this restaurant with a friend and it was absolutely amazing! The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The food was delicious and our server was just lovely. I will definitely return and I highly recommend this restaurant to others. It s also reasonably priced and the portions are generous as well. Five stars all around !!!!.
Excellent pork souvlaki dinner
Friendly service and tasty food. I live in the area and first visiting this place. Recommended.
I really liked the food and the service at Astoria. The prices are fair, and the portions are well sized. The service was very good for us. We were a big group of 18 and they helped us dividing the bill into 4 or 5 parts.
Affordable with a wide choice of popular Greek dishes. Lunch specials are available. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible washroom
I had the beef kabob with rice ,greek salad and rice. Bathrooms were clean. I recommend.
To costly for the portion.
Always a great choice!!!
Good food, but large portion. Be mindful to order, we wasted a lot of food. The staff were friendly and the town had festive vibe. Parking: Its a busy street so parking can be challenging during holiday seasons.
I have been going to Astoria my whole life and last night will be the last time. The prices have been very inflated and the portions were much smaller. For example we always order grilled calamari and they used to give you 3 pieces and now only 2 pieces and the price is up 40%. You cannot both raise your price and lower the portion size. The salad was half the size and pita is no longer served with your meal. All the things that we loved about this restaurant no longer exist. Find yourself another Greek restaurant.
Service excellent. Chicken souvlaki was delicious, tender, super tasty. Greek salad was disappointing, little austerity going on with just 1 olive on top. Music was a little loud but overall great food and service.
