Volos Greek Cuisine in Toronto

I recently attended a work dinner at this stunning restaurant, and it was the perfect choice for a memorable evening. The ambiance is truly beautiful elegant yet inviting, with a warm atmosphere that makes it ideal for conversation. Whether youre catching up with colleagues or enjoying a relaxed evening, this place sets the right tone. The service was impeccable, and the food was absolutely delightful. Every detail, from the presentation to the flavors, was spot-on. Highly recommend for both business gatherings and special occasions!

My wife and I went to VOLOS Restaurant to cecelebrate our wedding anniversary, we had a lovely dinner and a wonderful time. Great service, (Ashley, John, Jan and Ðon) thanks to Chef Rezza and his great team, see you soon.

The restaurant was full on a Early Thursday evening. There was 2 of us and we were offered a high top table , which was fine. Only negative was how close the tables were. Hearing others conversations. Our servers were friendly, relaxed, and helpful with our gf choice. The food portion was perfect and very very tasty. We will definitely return again when in the city for entertainment. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free pasta available and it was a very tasty!

An amazing group lunch with 14 team members. Service was excellent, food was great with all dishes coming out together (important). Apps in advance were also on point. Sorry no pics. We tried 6-7 apps, salads, lamb chops and shank, mousaka, fish soup, vegg pasta - all were excellent. Don t hesitate to give Volos a try.

We had our mini class reunion farewell dinner at Volos and they did not disappoint any of us. I worked with their event manager, Jan Dvorak, and planned the menu for 29 attendees. We communicated what our group needed and they accommodated our needs. A private room and gave us room to do some dancing after dinner. The food was excellent and the choices they gave us for appetizers, main dishes and desserts offered a variety for everyone. The service staff were all friendly and professional. We only had one glitch and that was we did not calculate the gratuities correctly but we were able to pay the difference among us. Other than that, the evening flowed smoothly from the time we got to the place to the time we left. An affair to remember and thank you to everyone who made it all possible. Vegetarian options: They also offered our group a vegetarian dinner option if needed. Dietary restrictions: They offered our group adjusting the menu if they have any dietary restrictions. Parking: We all took Uber so did not need parking. We were told that parking was expensive and difficult to find around the restaurants so we all planned ahead.

Fishermans stew was really delicious.

I hosted a 25 person work event at Volos at the end of Oct 2024 and everything was fabulous! The food, the service, the attention to detail. All my guests really enjoyed the food and the vibe. It was perfect for a surgeons dinner/networking event. Thank you Volos! We will be back!

Yesterday evening I was dining there with my wife and the waiter (I think his name was Omar) did a rather very bad job serving our table. Being utterly disappointed, I decided not to tip. After I paid, I went to the rest room, and on the way back to my table (literally a few meters away from the restroom door, the same waiter blocked my way, asking to my face why I did not leave a tip. It was such an horrendous unpleasant experience, being asked aggressively why I did not tip. I do not understand why such an unpleasant attitude was necessary. I talked to the manager and complained about this issue. In all fairness he seemed to be genuinely sorry, well it was rather too late at that point. As a humble suggestion, when you are not happy with the service do not tip and be very firm about your position. Further to that, you do not have to tolerate impertinence where you are spending money to supposedly have a nice evening with your family.

Sadly not a great experience at Volos. First of all the service at the table was rude, rushed, she kept rolling her eyes and looking away like she really didn t want to be there. Also, no more pita in a Greek restaurant on a Saturday night? Just from that and the average appetizers (Saganaki and the dips) I decided to go for a simple Greek salad. But even that was below standard. I asked specifically for the simple Greek salad, not the one with Cesar sauce? Yet it came saucy, soggy, and you couldn t even taste the tomatoes and olives, everything was sadly so bland which translates to poor ingredients choices. I do want to add that sadly they re not the only ones in that area that has below standards food wise. Downtown Toronto has catered for a special kind of clientele that cares more about alcohol than food, so I do not blame them, but if you re looking for good food, just don t eat downtown Toronto

Had a positive dining experience at Volos. Grateful we were able to be accommodated while TIFF was occurring. Avgolemeno soup was an excellent start to a flavourful and fun evening for my friend and I. The rack of lamb special was grilled exactly as ordered and very tasty. Presentation was very appealing. Chocolate mousse for desert was rich and creamy. What could possibly make the evening better ... was the excellent service we received. Our waitress Eleanor was outgoing, informative and attentive. Another staff member, whose name I did not get, was very friendly and attentive as well. Great evening spent catching up with a friend over a delicious meal.

The service was right on point. The atmosphere is nice. The food is meh; nothing that I d go back for. I tried the lamb shank and it was perfectly cooked, however didn t taste as good as some other lamb shanks I ve had in Toronto. We also tried the orecchiette pasta and it was ok. Avgolemono soup was pretty good. Washrooms were clean.

We had a private intimate dinner here for our wedding and the food was amazing. The staff was wonderful, friendly, attentive and accommodating. The staff let our guests come in earlier and take photos. There were so many starters that we couldnt even finish our mains. Half of our party were Greek and they loved the food and wine, very fresh ingredients and flavourful dishes. And of course everyone else loved it as well. I want to come back and eat everything on the menu

I had my wedding at the city and took 15+ guests to this restaurant. Jan the manager and the staffs are the best! They made us feel at home and the hospitality was amazing! Please, please and please you need to try this place anytime you re in downtown Toronto.

Had an event there recently and I could not ask for a better experience! The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The manager was the kindest and the most helpful. The experience was the half of it, the food was so flavourful and well prepared, it was all the guest and I could talk about! Lunch, dinner, or even an event, I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Honestly I wish I could leave a better review as the service was awesome but it was so insanely hot in the restaurant I couldn t enjoy my meal - I felt horrible for the employees working in a heat wave in all black uniforms.

Pleasant decor and atmosphere, service a little too present (North American!) for a European but efficient and attentive. On the other hand, the cuisine leaves something to be desired: sticky and quite indigestible taramosalata, grilled octopus overcooked and dry. The Malbec is good but served too hot. In short, too bad...

This was a perfect experience. Rack of lamb was offered, and one person at our table (who is very discerning) absolutely loved it. Very generous portion, superb quality. My chicken may have sounded less exciting, but it knocked me over with the char and the flavour. Lovely potatoes; open airy atmosphere and first rate service. Steps from the Sheraton, it made our first night in Toronto a pleasure.

Food was good. Service was good. Disappointed that warm seafood salad did not come as written in menu. No Greek yogurt dressing . Oil and vinegar. Also Saffron ice cream also noted in menu, not available. Hazel nut gelato a poor substitute. I would suggest correcting these items on your menu.

What a wonderful meal my son and I just had at Volos! Our server was the charming and lovely Mimoza, and she was very helpful in suggesting dishes and wine that made the meal a triumph. Highly recommended for those seeking absolutely delicious food and an enjoyable and memorable evening out.

We visited Volos for dinner and we were so impressed with the quality of the food and beverages. The appetizers were absolutely delicious and the mains (salmon dish and a shrimp pasta dish) were superb. We can t thank Tiffany enough for her fabulous service and attentiveness. She truly made our dining experience special. We will be back.

The wait staff was extremely accommodating and very pleasant to talk to as well. Our waitress, Mimoza, was so nice and brought out our food very quickly. Only tried the sea food at Volos and was very impressed. The sea bass was cooked to perfection. The serving of potatoes left was lacklustre but the salad made up for it along with the table bread. Overall value is good but not great. IG: mansafx Food : 5/5

Volos Greek Cuisine is a fantastic spot for large groups. We had a birthday surprise dinner, and the staff was incredible and extremely welcoming. Special thanks to Maria and Tiff for making our night memorable. We really appreciate their hospitality. Definitely recommend this spot, as the food is also delicious! We will be back again!!

Mimosa (sorry for any spelling errors) was excellent as a server and was exceptionally gracious and humble. We tipped because of her. The restaurant itself was a strange experience. At times, we looked around for cameras thinking we were on a Gordon Ramsey show. Right from opening the front door and noticing scotch tape on the door edge to (probably) protect customers from chipped glass to the manager (or so she seemed) jamming/barging herself between our table and the wall to adjust a thermostat without even excusing herself. The music they played was repetitious songs by Kool and the Gang. Very bizarre. It s a Greek restaurant! Maybe just a little bouzouki? The moussaka came out cold totally cold. It had to go back. Pita came out stale. In the restaurant s defense, they did bring out another hotter dish of Moussaka. Portions are smaller and not proportional to the price in a North American market.

I have been to Volos twice now and I cannot wait to return again. The food is amazing and very quick. Our waiter, Andrew, was amazing. Lots of gluten free options for celiac and they re extremely accommodating about it!

Had dinner as part of a corporate event so not sure of the prices. However, the food was excellent, particularly the lamb shank and the chocolate mousse that I had. Also tasted the Baklava which was even better. Service was also quite good. The only downer was all the traffic and construction work happening in the area around the restaurant, which made it painful to park close by and leave when done. But cant fault the restaurant for that. Will definitely be back with family and/or friends.

I came in with a group of 5 the other night around 9:00-9:30. Before being seated, the atmosphere of the restaurant was off because many people were staring at us here as if we do not belong. At first, I thought maybe it s just me and that s normal, but it got worse as we were being served. The server attempted to be polite. However, Marissa (the server) was being rude and judgemental. As we were ordering desserts and two drinks, she judged us on how we re only getting those items with a condescending tone. When getting the food, it was small portions and it didn t taste that good at all. I prefer going to an authentic restaurant where they have better quality of food. Also, when grabbing the bill, we asked if we split it instead of having one big check. She was like seriously and walked away in distraught. Even in the bathroom, the other guests were looking at me and the guests that I brought, in a judgemental way as if we don t belong here. Overall, the experience was a total rip off. I would rather spend more in another restaurant who s deserving of my income.

The service is friendly and attentive. Food: quality of all the dishes is impeccable. The formula is interesting: it allows you to try several appetizers/desserts and also, the possibility to choose your main course either by the menu (traditional way) or to be surprised by choosing either the meat or the seafood. Deception: I was disappointed by the surprise dish served. While all of my colleagues had amazing plates, there seemed to be a mistake in my order. I was first presented with the meat when I had chosen the seafood. It was quickly corrected by being brought pasta with 3 shrimp and a trace of vegetables. I inherited the Touski , far far behind the other plate served with a mix of fish, shrimps, octopus, squids, Green salad Touski = improvised dish with everything left in the fridge, the leftovers!

Wow! I had lamb, octopuss, calamari and everything was delicious! Service was also fantastic.

Great food, service, and athmosphere

The food was very tasty. Service was extremely slow even though it was not crowded (4:30 pm). A bit pricey in my opinion. Recommended dishes

Good food, especially the appetizers: taramosalata and saganaki. We hope the waitress just had a bad day. She was not very attentive and repeatedly forgot things.

The food was good and the wait staff were excellent but I was not happy with how our bill was settled. The restaurant refused to provide separate bills nor split the single bill across multiple payment cards. That really messed up our groups meal expensing. The restaurant manager claimed that they did not allow separate bills for large groups (we had 18 people) during the busy lunch hour. When I said to the manager that it would have been helpful if the restaurant informed us about this policy when I booked the reservation, she did not acknowledge my claim and simply said that a single bill is common practice among all of the restaurants in the area. She said it in a tone that placed the blame on me for not knowing. That single interaction with the manager left a bitter taste in my mouth. Im never going back to Volos again because of that.

Very good greck restaurant

Very good downtown restaurant. The food was amazing and the dining room looks really good with an open kitchen. Service was fast and waiter very friendly. Prices seems in line with the quality of product. Only issue could be the very restricted vegetarian options. Overall very happy with the experience and would happily visit again.

This place is excellent, the food was great. Alex are server was very friendly and made us feel at home. If you want great food and even better service visit them. It was a pleasure to eat there.

Quite disappointed in this place honestly. It has good food but not much variety and the portions are too small especially for the price point. The biggest setback was the service. The person serving us was very rude and made us feel unwelcome. Definitely the last visit.

I was in town for a week long conference. Stopped here based on the reviews on Google. Customer service is a foreign concept to this establishment as is cleanliness.

Great downtown restaurant. Service is friendly, quick, and professional. All the dishes we tried were great, especially the moussaka, which was among the best I have ever eaten. Highly recommended.

We had a great meal here. Ambience is very nice and staff super friendly. We had the orchetta and shrimp which is cooked to order and was wonderful and the sea food salad that was incredible. The wine list is as good as being in Greece and the baclava over the top wonderful. So many great items to try on this menu we cant wait to return!

Been here at a lunch meeting with a client and I can tell you that the food is served a bit spicier which I totally like, as not many places in downtown serve food thats spicy. I ordered Halibut and its just fabulous. Sea Bass is a good option as well.

My wife found this restaurant online as we were trying to find a place to have a meal with another couple who had helped us although we had not met them personally. I saw pictures of the restaurant and the food online and thought it was a great place to dine in and have a good time. But, to my surprise, the service was below the standards of a restaurant of this kind. The waitress who was serving us yesterday was impetuous. I was incredibly disgusted by the extreme rude behavior of this woman who threw things at my guests. She did not wait till everyone was finished to clear the table. The older gentleman who was sitting at my table was furious as he was treated badly. He asked the server if he did anything to offend her and she said no. 5mins later she came up with a bogus story and said that she has to go to Greece tomorrow and that is why she is so nervous. What? She is older than all the servers there and this is the answer we get for bad service?? What does she take us for? Idiots? She was looking away while serving everyone. She did not give us time to order. She did not know that the ladies should be served first. Her smile was not sincere. It was not a busy hour for the restaurant. Which means she did it on purpose. This woman should be cleaning dishes, not serving diners. I made sure the tip reflected that but no tip would have been ideal in this situation. The management should put a leash on her before she takes down the restaurant. This woman ruined the experience for everyone. I would not recommend this place to anyone any soon, all because of her. Front desk was not super friendly but okay. Food was nothing special, just average. Atmosphere was very nice but little too noisy. Just noticed that there are multiple complaints in the reviews about the service. I wouldn t have complained if the food was bad. But if the service is bad, I wouldn t let it go. (I had never met my guests before, so it can t be just me. All four of us felt the same.) However, the male staff is very nice, Courteous and accommodating. This review is getting 1-Star because of the waitress. I hope this is an eye opener for the owners/management.

Had the sea bass. Was good and pretty standard. Service was good as well. In general food and service were fine, nothing out of this world.

We made a reservation for a group business lunch - we arrived a bit late but fortunately there were no problems with our reservation. We were seated and served promptly which was great given the size of our group. The food quality was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. The restaurant was a bit loud with the other patrons which the restaurant could not control but it did take away from the atmosphere a bit. The staff let us take our time and did not rush us out after we finished our meal and paid the bill which was great service. I would definitely come back again in the future.

Have been to Volos on multiple occasions now and it is always a fantastic experience. Not only is the food incredible but everyone who works there is always so kind and welcoming. Dining at Volos feels like home, its a date night and celebration night staple for us.

Has dinner recently and the food was delicious ! Place has seen better days! Chairs falling apart, fabrics worn, a lack of general upkeep and cleaning - chairs and benches covered in crumbs. Service was the worst ! Johnny? - tall, dark hair and facial hair - was unwelcoming and unfriendly. Terrible service . Management needs to tell him that he is in the hospitality industry.

We had a table of 8 and they charged us for a bottle of wine that we never got. It was a $70 bottle of Rose and I did not notice it on the bill until looking at the receipt the next day. Update: They processed a refund for me for the incorrect charge

Awesome Greek in downtown Toronto. Good portions and authentic tic tasting food. Could use a few more choices for the Greek food and deserts but the mousaka is worth the trip. Pricey but hey its dow town Toronto. Pic is the appetizer trio and traditional Greek salad. Could have been the whole meal!!

Nice calm atmosphere, great wine selection. Had the grape leaves and meatball appetizers, both of which were fantastic. The Lamb Shank was a delightful entree.

My experience here was the most uncomfortable I ve ever been in an establishment. My friend and I saw the photos online and were confused when we were seated for our reservation. The area we were sat in did not look like the photos at all. The door was also wide open while we are experiencing a cold fall. The host tried to sit us at a table directly in front of this open door although there were MANY available tables in the back and front. My friend asked if we could sit elsewhere and the host CONTEMPLATED as if it would be a difficult thing to do. At first, we thought the location in the photos did not exist, but to our surprise while going to the bathroom, we can see the actual nice area with ample seating. We couldn t help but question why we were sat in the small, front area where it is cold, instead of the back area where it was nice and expected to sit. Another group of minority women were sat next to us and the hostess pushed tables together for them to sit when the back area has booths that would surely sit the three of them perfectly without her doing extra work. I asked if that area was specific to reservations and was told that it is not, and that walk-ins could sit there. We had a reservation and was still not even offered to sit in that area. I m not sure how they are deciding who sits where, but it is seemingly prejudicial. The staff were also cold and rude. They wouldn t even say you re welcome and took forever to tend to our table. Our waitress even rolled her eyes while answering my question. I will not be returning here and would not recommend to others. Overall, the food was decent but definitely overpriced for the portions. Not worth the visit to deal with terrible service. They also automatically charge a 4% economic relief fee . Beware.

Went here with my husband for a date night Friday night. The food and drinks were really excellent. Highlights were the lamb shank so soft and falling off the bone, and the Palomas with real fresh grapefruit juice. They were great about my husbands allergies. But unfortunately the service was horrible. We were being served by two people, a lady and a man. The lady was very aggressive as if she was upset, it was a really awkward vibe. Our appetizer and mains were brought out at the same time which was very annoying, we were there for a relaxing date but then had to rush to eat so all the food doesnt get cold. Waited a really long time to get our plates cleared and a really long time for the bill. Overall the food was great, service ruined it. Probably wont be coming back due to the really unpleasant service.

First time visitor last night for a birthday party. There was 12 people so the wait staff brought multiple appetizers which were all good. My favourite where the meatballs and would recommend them along with the cheese in the fiery ouzo. I ordered the lamb shank which was very good as did many others and everyone enjoyed. Many orders of sea bass and salmon which were enjoyed as well. Baklava for dessert was very good. 2 waiters with our group all night and they were very good. My cocktails came quickly and my wine glass was always full despite my best efforts. Well done Volos and I will return. Parking: There is a lot across the street but get there early as it fills up fast on a Saturday night.

I visited Volos restaurant with a party of 12 to celebrate my brother s birthday and I was blown away by the food and service. The restaurant has a cozy and elegant atmosphere. The staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating to our requests. The food was delicious and authentic, with a variety of dishes to choose from. We ordered the meze platter, the grilled octopus, the lamb chops, the moussaka, and the baklava for dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned with fresh herbs and spices. The portions were generous and satisfying, and the prices were reasonable for the quality. I highly recommend Volos restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. It is one of the best Greek restaurants in Toronto and I can t wait to go back again. Thank you Volos for making my brother s birthday special!

Excellent sagnaki.

This place has become somewhat of a dinner tradition for us before a show. My family and I have been here several times over the course of 5 years. The food and the service are consistently wonderful. If youre a seafood fan, you must try the grilled octopus!!!

I had a great time at Volos. The servers are very friendly and not a long wait for the food at all. I got the tiger prawn saganaki, saganaki (a cheese dish), and Moussaka (similar to a lasagna). I tried their chocolate mousse as well. Everything was amazing. It was a good portion size. I highly recommend for a date. Make sure to reserve ahead of time. The restaurant gets busy.

Good variety of authentic Greek meals. Portions are on the small side but the moussaka with its tomato sauce was divine, would have asked for a refill. Pricey. Ambiance average, no music or vibe, more of a business meeting place

My husband and I had dinner at Volos prior to attending the performing arts centre across the road. We had a delightful time with wonderful food: Saganaki Shrimp, Lamb Shank and Chocolate Mousse. Our server, Mimoza, was charming, conversational and very helpful, especially with wine recommendations. She helped make our experience extra special.

This may be the best Greek restaurant in town. The only problem is we got greedy and ordered too much and everything was too good so we ate too much and had to be rolled out. The Lamb Shank was really good but honestly The mousakka is just heaven. The portions were normal we were just greedy and got too many appetizers. We will be back (and order normal amount next time)!

Great hospitality and outstanding food

We were a group of seven for dinner on a Saturday. The food was awesome. Mimoza took care of us extremely well though the place was full, and also made it special for the birthday celebrant in our group. Portion sizes are decent, contrary to some some previous reviews. Every single dish we ordered was excellent. We paid the bill and then stayed chatting until closing time without being made to feel we had overstayed. Thank you Mimoza and Team Volos! We will be back.

Elevated greek food in the downtown core. Dishes are plays on traditional greek plates. Flavours are good and service was great.

I had a strange experience in this restaurant! Food was delicious but the service and how you are charged is weird. When the server brought the bill, he didn t show it to me, got my credit card. When he passed the machine to me the only option was to enter the pin for my card! Note that we were only 4 person at a table and were also getting only one bill. The restaurant also wasn t that busy. Anyway, when I entered my pin, server passed the bill to me and I realized he has added 20% tip. I probably would have tipped the same amount but the way the sever acted was so rude and unprofessional. This has never happened to me in the past 20 years no where in Canada or US. Also I noticed we were charged for two bottles of water while we only had one! So unprofessional to scam your customers for $10 on a $430 bill!!

Had our annual staff holiday celebration at this restaurant. Cannot say enough about the quality of the food, the attentiveness of the service, or the value for the money. This is simply a must on anyone s list of best restaurants in Toronto.

We had a large group of 11 celebrating the season. We shared a number of excellent appetizers. The Octopus was the best I have ever had. This includes the time spent in Greece this fall. The Fishermans Stew was full of shrimp, mussels, clams, salmon and calamari. Just excellent. Our server Mimoza was attentive and thoughtful in the recommendations which made for an amazing lunch. Would highly recommend.

My colleagues and I had our office Christmas Party at Volos. The food, the atmosphere and especially the service were top notch. Huge shout out to Mimoza, Eleanor and Maria for taking such good care of us. I highly recommend this place.

I walked in with a friend last night (December 20) without a reservation , the restaurant was busy but the team made sure to find us a table regardless. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. The octopus cooked to perfection was served in a bed of veggies. Our waitress called Mimosa ( from Albania) made the evening more pleasant with her knowledge and attentiveness. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
