81 St Clair Ave E, Toronto, ON M4T 1M7, Canada
Farm Boy St. Clair provides a unique, friendly, fresh-market shopping experience featuring signature farm-fresh produce, butcher-quality meats, artisan cheese, fresh dairy, and popular private-label products.
Farm Boy never disappointment! Well-stocked and always clean. Great deals on fresh produce and love their in-house products.
I recently visited the Farm Boy location in St. Clair East and was thoroughly impressed! The store was clean, well-organized, and had an amazing selection of fresh produce and meats. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, helping me find exactly what I needed. The prepared foods section was also a highlight - the salads and sandwiches looked delicious! Highly recommend for grocery shopping or a quick, healthy bite. Will definitely be back!
Disappointing Service and Rude Management As a group of girls who buy lunch here every day, we are really disappointed with the service at farm Boy. While we come in regularly and are respectful, the staff, especially the manager, are consistently rude. They scream at kids, telling them to leave if they’re not paying, and the way they communicate is just harsh and unkind. We understand that businesses have rules, but there’s no excuse for treating customers with such a lack of respect. We expected a friendlier environment, but it’s clear the staff don’t care about creating a welcoming experience. It’s unfortunate because we’ve enjoyed the food, but the poor service makes it hard to continue coming back.
I shop at Farm Boy every once a week, and I always have a great experience. The store has friendly staff, and I like their products. However, on Aug 12 I was at the express check-out and the cashier completely ignored me. She didn't tell me the final amount to pay and didn't even tell me that the debit machine was ready to pay. I wasn't thinking too much of it since she was on the phone, but as I was heading out, I heard she was apologizing to the next customer for being on the phone. Maybe I'm overreacting, but it was a disappointing experience I will continue to shop at Farm Boy though :(
I've been shopping at Farm Boy over 20 years. Their store branded products are good. This location is hit or miss for baked goods and prepared foods though. Stir-frys are gross and sandwiches on portuguese buns always soggy.
Products with the quality expected in any Farm boy. In this branch I got the impression of having less variety of products or, at least, smaller sections of products. A strong point of this branch is its bakery since it is much larger than others and has greater variety. As for the promotions, I noticed that there were very few in the fruit and vegetable section, while in the bakery you could find most of the discounted products.
It's a clean and beautifully merchandised store. And, Farm Boy differs from the other big grocers in that there is NO self-service checkout. This location has a great selection of prepared foods too.
I am very happy to know that I have good establishments close to my house, and where I can find good products. The Farm Boy St Clair unit is well organized and has a wide variety of products. The meat and fish area is always stocked with fresh products. Fruits and vegetables always beautiful and organized. The baked goods are delicious and with some vegan options (which are delicious). Farm Boy brand products are great and prices are usually in the market average. They have good service and good accessibility for people with disabilities.
Not like I remember it in Ottawa.
Best grocery chain in Ontario in my opinion
The parking system doesnt work correctly, and its a headache to get you out
Nice and clean grocery store, the managers are very polite and helpful. Would love to work for them
Great addition to the St Clair area. Produce here is better quality and cheaper than Loblaws with more variety. However, Loblaws has a larger selection of dry goods and milks (they do not have Fairlife or Natrel here). Staff are polite and helpful. The new manager (tall guy, long hair) shows good leadership qualities. Staff seemed tense and nervous with the previous manager. As someone who worked in retail for 10+ years, I can tell a good retail manager, and the current guy clearly knows how to motivate staff and create a friendly work environment. I do wish staff would react quicker when the checkout queue starts building up. Wait times can be long when staff dont react quickly.
Reminds me of Whole-Foods. On the high end but quality produce.
Great store, a little pricey but quality over quantity matters.
The staff was amazing, extremely helpful, and their products, phenomenal.
Good selection of produce and prepared foods. Nice layout and environment!
Well you have to say I was pleasantly surprised, found Portuguese sweet bread/buns, delicious
Overpriced as are most groceries
Nice clean store, well stocked. Excellent variety. Staff are friendly and efficient.
One of the better Farmboy locations
I love the cleanliness and tidiness of this store but lately the music has been too loud. It is still a pleasure shopping here.
I like the bright atmosphere.
I like the variety of different products they carry, but the prices are often outrageous.
Just horrible!! I got two smashed burgers for $10. What a waste of money. The paper was stuck to the bun and cheese, no other toppings, it was dry, hard, and flavorless. Im never buying their ridiculously overpriced crappy ready-to-go food again.
Amazing store, I do most of my daily grocery shopping here. Good quality and well priced produce, amazing pastries from their own bakery, delicatessen with a wide variety of products, as well as friendly and helpful staff.
I was having my dinner in the store and after I finished my dinner,I tried to use one the sanitizer for my hands,as soon as I tried sanitizer liquid hit my left eyes ,and store staff even didnt apologize for that, it is ridiculous, I dont recommend anyone to go that store.
Our local store. Great to have so close to pick up items we might have missed but also we always get specific items here on a regular basis. The store is bright and clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful at the meat and deli counter. Thanks!
The managers of the St Clair Avenue store in Toronto should be commended for maintaining a scrupulously clean and organized store staffed by knowledgeable caring staff. Very happy with the Farm Boy brand products as well - would like to see more paper and cleaning products.
Shopping experience was amazing, I cant believe how helpful the staff is. The vibe and atmosphere are something I have never experienced before. I have no words to explain it. You need to experience yourself
Conveniently located by St Clair subway station, this location has great and reasonably priced produce.
One of the best groceries in Toronto with the best service.
Loved it. Clean, organized and good products. I had a price issue and the manager fixed it promptly. Keep up the good work.
Hygienic.
Very clean and neat
This is the best farm boy in the city. Alex, the AM, was incredibly helpful & knowledgeable. This is my new grocery store for sure. Plus...double hot dogs? Yes pls.
The selection is fresh, but pricey. Im still going back, regardless.
The seem to have inventory problems. For example, they often run out of milk and french roast coffee beans.
Love their sausages. Some of their produce could have been fresher.
Fun shopping g for u ique items...
Love their Eda yummy spicy kale edamame dip . Funny thing is I went to Farm boy today never trying this product bought one didn t know when my cart completely was unaware that I had bought two of them
I enjoy this location so far. Seems like you can get lots of things you need and I do like the pork selections here. Im happy they are carrying Minor Figures oat milk.
Best supermarket in Toronto. Such lovely produce.
I ve always been disappointed by any of the food made by Farmboy, which is impressive given the prices
Great food choices
Fresh vegetables
Love this farm boy.
Convenient location, they have a decent bakery and food section.
Nice store, very $$$. Their paid coffee station sometimes neglected. But, nice seating area for customers to have their meal. All groceries should have this!
Farm Boy is always a hit and never a miss, at least in mind.
Clean and comfortable. There is also a dining area for customers.
Nicely organized stuff and friendly staff.
Much better than Loblaws across the street. Bring back the saltwater taffy.
Fantastic produce
Consistently friendly service. Called the main service line .. Again ... about an outstanding service experience. St. Clair, east of Yonge location.
Clean store with fresh produce and a some ready made food Not as much variety as other FB. Also, not much of a one stop shop because they dont have cleaning and toiletries. I find this odd because it replaced Sobeys which had everything!
Its all about the food. damn right it is but its not even that good? the staff at this location are horrid I have so many things to say. They have a sign saying Only paying customers can sit here. but the sign is outside of the tables which gives the idea that they only mean that for the low tables, not the bar. I used to be able to sit there with my friends without buying anything (my friends would buy stuff) and Id be okay. but after months of sitting there minding my own business, not being a hassle, and being respectful all of a sudden its not okay to sit there anymore? if you want to enforce a rule maybe you should move the sign and maybe just maybe make it make sense. this happened when I was eating lunch with my friends (4) one day (it was about 11:40 a.m. and there were no other customers) and this employee came up to me and my friend and said we couldnt eat there because we didnt buy anything so we sat outside of the glass and this old lady comes up to us and says: hi guys so I work for the building like so what do you want a trophy? and tells us we cant sit there because I guess she said so? like Maybe we wouldnt have a problem if YOU ADDED THE SEATING BACK?! Another problem is that the cashiers would charge you multiple times for an item and when you confronted them about it they would be like Oh sorry we cant do anything about that because its a food item... LIKE HELLO? Do you have short-term memory loss?? you just charged me MULTIPLE times for this JUST NOW. The employees would always be so mad at our school students for literally just being there and doing nothing. like you cant complain about us when you decided to place yourself right across the street from a school? honestly, that is just funny to me. Anyway, Sobeys was 1000 times better and Farmboy doesnt deserve what they have. Hope they get burned down <3
A bit pricier than some grocery stores, but they do have good quality store brand items, and freshly cooked foods, oddly one of the better hot dogs around.
Very expensive and the price was very confusing!!!
Lived neighbourhood so basically it is my primary store. Highly recommend their sorbets. Friendly staff.
Excellent service.
Fresh goods. Clean and organized. Nice staff. Good prices.
Love the salad with cranberries and pumpkin seeds , they have the best potato chips house brand
Good selection of fresh vegetables, Meat and dairy.
I love Farmboy, they have fresh produce and other stuff, I wish they add some HALAl food to your chef department. You deserve five stars
The customer service is bad and people harassed customers for money but the security does not step in.
Had an issue with one of the staff and management has done nothing but brush it off and do nothing
Perfect location and close to the TTC subway station. Well-stocked and lots of fresh and packaged selections.
Youd think a high end grocery would have better quality store operations but employees are disrespected by management, and security fails to intervene, or has been known to cause potential customers discomfort while shopping by following them around.
Good store, good staff.. I faced wrong pricing issue twice in the beginning but they provided the refund immediately..
Big disappointment!!!! By far the first farm boy fail!!!! This store seems to forget what made them successful. Way to go Sobeys. Very poor staff
Very welcoming addition to the area. Love the layout of this location specifically. Always a friendly cashier to serve you
Love bakery department and lovely salad bar
The new location at younge and st clair is confusing together around. However, the staff I have encountered have been polite and helpful
I love a good grocery store, so when this new grocery store opened in the neighbourhood I had to check it out. They had beautiful produce, an excellent selection of gluten-free products Ive never seen anywhere else and reasonable prices. The slightly lower rating is because, when I was in this week, there was a distinct off-chicken smell near the meat section. Everything else was so clean and tidy, this seemed like it was probably not always the case, but it certainly made me wary to purchase the tasty gluten free fish that I had my eye on. Also, as I was checking out, a manager was very terse with one of the cashiers in a way that made me concerned that the work environment might be a toxic one. I will likely go back, and may update this review based on future experiences.
Beautiful store all the FarmBoy products are amazing. Nicole the store manager is so awesome . The team members of all the departments are very friendly and helpful going above and beyond to make the visit pleasant. See you soon.
Really friendly staff, great store.
Well stocked. Nicely presented displays ver fresh produce. Friendly staff who know their products.
Its a decent spots and good variety. People are fine and price is ok for Toronto (meaning crazy for everywhere else)
Well laid out store. Very clean. Good selection.
The meat department is really well maintained
Tidy and calm ambience in the store, great choice for fresh foods
Good prices good food
Excellent fresh foods and great private label FARM BOY product, home made ginger cookies the best!!
Not very high quality, the bread I bought from them was moldy in like two days.
Price is a bit steep but the quality is worth it
Excellent quality, but the price is very high
This store is Ok as far as selection goes but the checkout is a nightmare. They had over 20 people in line and only one cash open with conveyor belt. When the call for backup was answered they opened an under 8 item cash to handle the crowd . I was called and had exactly 8 items but the cashier seemed to think otherwise and made an unpleasant remark. I think they should have more checkouts open or offer self checkout. Its a real hassle and the staff don t want to deal with it. I will shop less often at this location.
Love the baggles.
Nice clean new store. Well organized with lots of upscale and hard to find items. Lots of high quality store brand items.
Clean. Well organised. Friendly staff. This is all reflected in their slightly higher prices.
Farm boy it is a good place with Hardworking staff good food.
Good sized grocery store. Lots of high end products. Lots of Environmentally friendly packages glass jars and paper containers. Huge salad bar with both hot and cols items. Lots of grab and go items. Small butcher, fresh fish and bakery counters. Farm boy tries to source local produce and products first. They were sold out of items- ontario strawberries and local donuts when I was there.
While many of their products are top quality such as the produce, Im often frustrated that I am unable to find common staples we use in our home . We have also been frequently disappointed with baked goods. And they do not carry cleaning products and many of the non-food items Im looking for which means a separate trip to another supermarket. So, why bother?
The butcher at this location is the worst in town. Leaves POUNDS of heavy FAT on BNLS/SKNLS chicken thighs so that the weight and price increases. I m sure he s ordered to do so by his soul-sucking greedy corporate overlords. Its insane the lengths these corpos would go to scam the consumer out of their money. This wasn t a one time event btw, everytime I ve bought from here its layers after layers of fat on the meat. Hey Farmboy, aren t record profits since covid not enough for you that you have to find more ways to rob the consumer? Anybody listening?
Clean, but high prices. I did not buy anything.
very expensive.
The parking process is a bit time taking. Some stuff is overpriced. But great assortment and quality.
It was all good in the beginning when it opened. But with time, its getting worse and worse. Old baked goods are on display alongside with fresh ones, so you can accidentally grab 4-5 days old pastries at the full price. Discounted produce used to be a good option, but now, the price went up to 4.5$ per package and produce in the package is actually half rotten, creatively packaged, so the rotten part is not visible. Thanks, but no thanks, I say, at 4.5$ - let it rot!
Love the quality of their pruduces and their salad dressings. And their style.
Produce and meat selection is better and fresher than Loblaws
Overpriced with a poor selection of food and brands. Almost everything is the farm boy brand which means it is about 20% more expensive than any alternative and limited in options.
Great value for your dollar. Always fresh produce, meats, baked goods...
Terrible.
When it first opened, I was very excited, and its a better alternative to Loblaws. Unfortunately, the bakery items like bagels and other products have seemed to deteriorate quickly. Ive had moldy items and returned them no problem. It just keeps happening.
I was excited when this store opened, as the neighborhood really needs a quality market--the Loblaws and Longos are not great. I expected this Farm Boy to have higher standards. Unfortunately, their vegetables, greens (especially kale), and herbs are almost always wilted and of bad quality, as though theyve been sitting out for days. Their fruit is often rotting. They just leave it out there--bought a bag of clementines--rotten when peeled. Its hard to say why this Farm Boy in particular has such low quality produce, but unless they fix this, Ill be going elsewhere.
Even if you cant find what you want, the free samples make the trip worth your time.
I live close by and felt lucky when this store opened. But the check out experience is painfully bad.. there are only ever 2 cashiers working with one for express 1-8 items and one regular. There is no line system so people skip regularly , it can be very frustrating when you have a single item and see people skipping you with large trolley s of groceries. Today was the last straw - I will not be shopping here again. Unless they get self checkouts. Sort it out !! Seriously !! Bad management clearly.
I love the salad bar
Good selection of groceries.
I was hoping to see a young boy like on photo logo, misleading advertisement. I need to meet young.
Clean, good selection, nice grocery
There are a lot of farmboy brand products, missing a lot of the basic name brand stuff. Would be nice to have the option of choosing, which really is the better product.
I go over there for grocery almost every day. A lot of fresh produce and good food. However, I miss the vegetarian options they used to have when they first opened - The breakfast egg and spinach wrap, and the lunch veggie pad thai. They used to be lifesavers when my wife and I were out of time to prep things. I hope they bring veggie options back.
Halifax Donair from deli. Yum yum so glad I stopped by today.
Fresh produce Good quality Reasonable prices considering the good quality of fruits and vegetables. Staff are friendly and professionals.
They need to post the Managers name on their website. My wife would like to suggest they stock certain items.
Good variety of items. Love their taboule, garlic n labneh. Miss more veggies!
This a great operation with good selection and very friendly staff.
Great store
Always find what I need. I suggest check meat and cheese stand regularly. Best quality best price !
This is my favourite grocery store hands down. The produce is always fresh and lasts half a week more than any other grocery store. Their weekly deals are good and you really are not paying more then any other store. The staff are always wonderful and helpful. Overall. I wish they had more shelf staples but generally they are great here.
I love Farm Boy for great produce and fresh meats.
everything is very expensive, it is good only for emergencies, there are no offers, the lowblas is better.
People in the Yonge & St. Clair community know check-out line ups are brutal at this location. Always. Most of the time they have ONE cash open, sometimes TWO and never more even at lunch or early evening rush. Forget the express lane (1-8 items) Ive stood behind people that have a full cart at the express lane and no one, including cashiers, say a word. Ive mentioned these ongoing issues to the manager.... they just dont get it.
Great selection. Cashing out is always a super slow process though.
Fresh like a farm
What kind of manager is he who can t help homeless people get food? And besides, they are not allowed inside. And where are all the helpers to ask where food I need are located? If you have a shortage of workers, hire me, I will work 25/8 and help all people and treat them more humanely.
Not a good store for holiday season offerings- found everything I needed elsewhere. Had great stollen last year but almost no holiday goodies this year. Disappointing.
Very clean, organized, good prices, you find all what you want! Their own products are really good
Calm, enjoyable shopping experience
