Khao Hakka in Toronto

I recently organized a small party at home for 20 people and chose Khao Hakka for catering. Arbaz and Nirmal cooked for the event, and they did an absolutely fantastic job! They prepared the most delicious dishes, and every guest couldn t stop complimenting the flavors and quality of the food. Even though I only picked up the food from the restaurant, the attention to detail and the care they put into every dish were evident. Arbaz and Nirmal were incredibly friendly, professional, and efficient, making the experience even better. Thanks to them, the food was a highlight of the evening, and my party was a success. I ll definitely be returning to Khao Hakka for future events or even just for takeout. Highly recommended!

We waited 25 mins inside the store for a walk in order with an excuse of them having so many other orders. There was no proper ventilation in the store and it was hard to breathe inside, waiting for 25 mins for a dish. Big disappointment.

In short, this place lit! Super delicious As an East Asian, I have had so many stir fried noodles when I grew up, this reminds me of that. Noodles also contains wok taste which requires some technic while stir frying, the spicy is also satisfying! Way better than most Asian fast food restaurant! This restaurant is one of the few Asian fast food restaurants that I would praise Very spicy, fried very well, and the control of the pot gas is also great If you miss the fast food in your hometown, this is the right place!

Food was great. The staff had a hard time getting our order correct. Service wasn t good otherwise. Small spot. Felt cold. Not very warm spot to eat. It had a fast food atmosphere. M

I ve walked by so many times. Finally got what might be the best Hakka food downtown, and my only regret is that I didn t come in sooner. They use good quality, fresh ingredients, made to order, and it s reasonably priced. I had the Hakka noodles with chicken and am now addicted. You can choose how spicy you want it. I got Hakka mild which was not spicy at all. Next time I ll kick it up a notch!

Delicious food in laid back atmosphere. Hakka noodles is beautifully charred with the aroma from wok hay. Staff is very nice and accommodating to my requests. Would be great if the dine-in food is served on proper plates, but they accept your own containers for take-out.

The food is great - and in comparison to the amount that you get its not even expensive, however, Id strongly suggest to NOT done in. The smoke from the kitchen was spread throughout the dine in area and it really messed up my lungs. Also, we saw a small cockroach crawling across the floor.

Amazing flavor with generous portions, I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place. I ordered their lunch special, chilli chicken with steamed rice and I loved it. If you are in a rush and dont have time to wait for the food to be cooked freshly in front of you, then order 20 min before arriving.

Smelt this place just walking down the street and had to try it. This place has some of the best stir-fry noodles I ve ever had. Service was good too!

Best Hakka Noodles in Toronto and staffs too.

Stumbled upon this place for the first time today for lunch. Ordered the chili chicken special with rice. This dish definitely packs a punch and brings the heat. I was sweating, but i love the flavour and will definitely come back and get it again.

Worst service , i ever see. Employees dont know how to behave properly. They are very rude. Food taste was very bad.

I came here to order sweet and sour chicken on hong kong noodles (similar to what is on the lunch menu, but after it ended) and was told there was no way I could get sweet and sour sauce on the chicken without buying a separate appetizer for the chicken. In what world is sauce gatekeep behind an entire menu item costing almost $15 after tax? Absolutely ridiculous. I just wanted sauce added to my meal. I will never be coming back here again. There needs to be more menu flexibility and the staff needs to be trained on how to accommodate simple orders such as mine (a simple sauce upcharge would have been acceptable).

They aren t picking up the calls. I have been trying it for a long time. Poor management

I visited this place few weeks ago and had chicken hakka noodles and veg momo. It was so good and the momo reminded me of Nepalese taste. Highly recommend this to Nepalese people!!!!

I m not entirely sure what kind of competent restaurant in the downtown core closes at 9pm- meaning their kitchen at 8:45. This joint is so poorly managed.

We ve always ordered for 2 people however recently ordered from the catering menu for 10 people and everyone loved it. The chilli garlic paneer and hakka noodles are my favorite. Thanks Khap Hakka !!

Food was overcooked and atmosphere was smoky and irritated my lungs.

This just might classify as an addiction!! I cant stop going back for their vegetarian dish. Garlic and chili, with extra veggies and tofu. One serving for me is enough for three different meals. Extremely flavourful. Service is always extremely welcoming.

Pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food is here at Khao Hakka (love the name, btw). I ordered a Chilli fish with gravy and some white rice for lunch today. It was a nice large portion of fish, fried just long enough but not too long, in authentic tasting gravy. Well balanced flavour, not too strong, not too spicy, not too salty, but not bland either. Its easy to overdo the spices with hakka cooking, but these folks got it right. Nice that the fish was freshly fried, too. Looking forward to having some again. Theres room for 8-10 people in comfortable seating, then theres a tall, long community style table and a counter by the window, with metal stools. So I guess its mostly a take-out place, but Id bring a couple of friends for sure.

Got the lunch special with Hakka Noodles and chicken, all for only $11 (not including tax)! Portion size was huge and super delicious, and I could taste the freshness (it was made right in front of us). I also got a taste of their Sweet and Sour chicken with rice from a friend and the flavours were so good, the chicken was so juicy. The dudes cooking the food were so friendly and super helpful. I cant wait to come back and try other dishes. :)

Ordered a combo with chilli chicken and noodles (replacing egg fried rice). However, the food did not sit well with me at all. The chicken did not seem fresh, was chewy and hard, while noodles had no taste. The noodles was only fried with onions, and there was an extra 3 dollar charge for asking to put egg on the noodles. Felt sick after having the food.

I will make it short. I will give them more than 5 .. Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian, it s hard to find good Chinese /Indian food. You will find it but mostly it s very greasy. This restaurant blew my mind. I am from Niagara Falls. I will go there everytime when I am in Toronto. My dad is very hard to please when it comes to food but he was so happy. I would give them more than 5 . Good job owner or owners for amazing food, service and ambience.

My favorite place to order from. Portions are good,food is better,taste is the best. Authentic Indian hakka Indo Chinese fusion. Probably order atleast 15 times a month from here. Favorite: Calcutta, Singapore ,Hong Kong style noodles, any chicken fry related stuff, paneer you name it. These guys truly make exceptional food that will beat most top restaurants of pretty much any cuisine in just their take out selections. Cant praise them enough. Do yourself a favor and start ordering one item everyday and by the time you get to the end youll know the indo Chinese fusion hakka ,and Indian food in general. Vegetarian options: Indian food!!!

Food was decent. The ambiance was disgusting. Tables were shabby, flies everywhere, the small rooms where employees store stuff were stinky, kitchen looked unsanitary. Didn t like it at all. Coming to food Szchewan chicken noodles - 7/10 Chilly Chicken -4/10 (I asked to make it slightly saucy wet because some places serve dry as pakora, ended up getting a gravy)

I really enjoy the ginger chicken... I think they have the ability to really turn up the heat on their food but I havent tried...

Our local GoTo for Hakka Chinese - quick and tasty. Spicy is spicy. You re warned. Ginger chicken and sweet and sour chicken are staples. Large portions mean there s usually a next day lunch in there too . East ordering off Ritual ( please, just do pick up so they don t get reamed by the ridiculous ubereats fees. Plus you know your food is fresh and hot instead of riding around on someone s bike for half hour in the cold)

It has the best indo Chinese food in downtown

Visiting Toronto and it was lunch time and this restaurant was steps away, so decided to try it for the first time. I grabbed their lunch special Chili Garlic with Fried rice. This was gravy mixed into the rice, the chicken was nice and crispy and the mix was very flavourful! The staff here are very pleasant and friendly as well. I recommend trying this place out for sure.

Previously, the food was really good. Have been their regular customer but now the quality and the taste have changed. Rice were literally old. Dropped them a call to share a review but instead of accepting it, they are argued and just hanged up the phone. Really disappointed!

This is a worse hakka food in the entire GTA. I wonder how his rating is so high .... dont waste your hard earn at this so-called restaurant....

Hakka is one of my favourite cuisines. I was stoked to find out about this place when it opened as it is near me. Delicious food and friendly staff!

FORGIT THEY DONT SELL PORK, SORRY

The food is actually really good, like a 4 or 5 considering the price. But the restaurant itself is really strange. The decor is an afterthought and the dining area, although only intended to be for a short stay, is kind of awkward. My biggest gripe is the kitchen though. Its kitchen counter style so you can see the kitchen and, if Im being honest, the kitchen looks like a mess. There is always a bucket of chicken left out on a chair beside the grill and its not under heat lamps or anything. I think food safety would probably give these guys a citation if they walked in on an average evening. But I dunno, it is damn delicious so the recipes are good they just need to organize the kitchen and clean things up a bit.

Hakka Noodle with Chicken lunch special is unbeatable for value and taste!

I made quite good Indian food by myself. Happened to be in Toronto for some work, and thought of giving it a try. Item - Egg Fried rice and Chilli garlic chicken Price - 22$. Quality of Ingredients is bad to begin with. When you start to cook with low quality ingredients, you get low quality food. 22$ felt pricey for one person. Taste is bad due to Ingredients quality. Quantity is less for the price. Cooking and recipe are simple, no skills required. I would avoid it unless you have no options. How to improve: Find better source for groceries. Quantity is fine as long as food is tasty. Increase price by a little if thats what it takes.

Nice mom and pop. Im a tourist so not too familiar with Hakka food. I ordered the lunch special which was a pretty good value. For $11 you get an entree and a drink. The Hakka noodles were great but the Hong Kong noodles were a bit gingery for my taste. The spicy level of the Hong Kong noodles was good. Enough to make my nose runny but not unbearable. Vegetarian options: Everything can get tofu or paneer for an extra charge. Kid-friendliness: They provide extra plates upon request.

Ordered chilly chicken and chicken noodles through Uber eats and the chicken was SO stale and hard. Easily 4-5 days old cooked chicken warmed up. So disappointed. I was a regular but not anymore.

Nothing better than a hearty portion from Khao Hakka on a dreary day. Portions are generous for a reasonable price; the lunch deal in particular is wicked. Make sure you get a spring roll; theyre top notch.

Ordered Hakka chicken noodles from their delivery. Unfortunately it was really expensive mostly plain noodles. Only a few super small pieces of chicken and a bit of onion. Definitely really poor value. Nothing like the description or photo.

Good food, reasonable price

Fast food style place.

Didnt know what to expect. First time trying Hakka. But the food is good. Tasty. Very salty but I guess thats the dish I took. Salt and pepper shrimps (would be great with ). Place is a little dirty. But thats ok. I care about the taste more. Portions are good size. The team has friendly. Service was good. We got this food and 2 ice teas. Paid 50$ (tax and tips included). Interesting experience. Wifey said we might come back :)

We tried it first time . Food was amazing . We walked from St Michael hospital. It was worth it . Recommend to everyone. Must try food cooked in front of you . Reasonably priced menu . Visited Khao Hakka with my frnds since we love Indo Chinese food & missed it alot, we couldnt find the exact indo Chinese food taste around us. This place stood out to be the best indo chinese food place around downtown Toronto , over the top the service & food served by Parth was very warm & friendly. He helped us find the right food, spiciness & recommendation. Hence I shall rate this place 100/10!!!

Craving good Hakka Chinese food? This is your go to downtown joint. More of a take-out joint but this place was serving the taste buds of authentic Bombay style Chinese food. Had the egg fried rice (could ve had less carrots) (4/5), the chilli chicken in a semi-dry state (5/5) and the schezwan sauce in a dry state (5/5). I d definitely go back for takeaway.

If the owner sees this, it ll be helpful for the business. There were just two people working and scampering to get the orders out - the number of takeaway orders for such a small joint is insane! We had to wait 30 mins for an order and I felt very bad seeing them struggle. It was close to closing hours. Portion size was varying, but the food was average. The girl at the counter looked exasperated. We really wish there was better consistency with Indian style hakka joints as downtown seems to miss that.

Great tasting food!

This is not how Chili paneer should look like and taste like! It tasted like plain fried cottage cheese in tomato ish gravy. The cubes were unevenly salted. Plus the dish is called Chili Garlic Panner and there s no garlic. I am sure other stuff tastes good but this dish was an absolute disaster. Note - Had also ordered wings and they were decent like a 3.5 ish star.

Really mediocre Hakka. We didnt expect to be blown away but we werent expecting such mediocre food either. The chilli chicken was ok. The vegetarian rice that you order with it was really bad. We ordered on skip the dishes and it added extra $3 for really bad veg fried rice. You have almost raw diced onion and raw carrots in basmati rice with no flavor. I hope they improve and make it better.

I happed to be in down town Toronto during lunch time so decided to check out KAHO Hakka Restaurant today. The food was very authentic. Tried the Manchurian Fish with Hakka nudges. Very reasonably priced and it tasted fantastic. Very original, excellent service and very clean place. Simple food yet mouth watering

I came here thinking it was one of those family sit down restaurants but to my surprise it turned out to be a fast food restaurant I was initially a little disappointed but it turned out to be great both the food and the service. The two workers there Sudeep and Arbaz were very helpful and kind.

Ordered the Veggie Hakka Noodles, Veggie Chili Garlic Fried Rice and Manchurian Fish. Delicious and will definitely again. Dine In - can get stuffy with the kitchen as it lacks ventilation. So be prepared for your clothes to smell like delicious Hakka food :)

Lackluster Experience, Tasteless Food I recently visited the restaurant and felt compelled to share my disappointment. We ordered schezwan noodles and rice, explicitly requesting extra spice, but the dishes lacked any flavor or heat whatsoever it was like a flavor desert! To make matters worse, the no refund policy feels like a slap in the face. I get having rules, but when the food doesnt live up to expectations, some flexibility would be appreciated. Sort this out. This is my GO TO SPOT! I love the Chicken Chilli Garlic Noodles with a PASSION. Theyre so so fire. It is always a happy night when I get to eat some Khao Hakka noodles. Also, every employee is so friendly. Id recommend ordering ahead for pickup, its the best way to go. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Go Khao Hakka!!

Great lunch spot quick easy and friggin delicious. Staff are attentive, friendly and accomodating. The Hakka Noodle Special is super filling and delicious. Also must try the Momos are out of this world cooked fresh to order.

This place is disgrace, zero health measures. No masks, no gloves and when the plastic plates fells down, they just pick it up and use it anyway...

Me and my friends found this place while heading to McDonald s as we were starving. I am so happy that we discovered this place and were able to try their food. The food looked mouthwatering and tasted delicious. I couldn t get any pictures because we were too busy eating, but i will highly recommend this place especially their hot garlic chicken and manchurian fried rice.

A lot of good things to write about this place. It has one of the best hakka noodles with my personal favourite touch - no sweet sauces to mess with the taste of the dish. We tried several items on their menu and loved every single one of them. The place is nice, clean and comfortable to dine in (a bit small though), and the chef and staff are very friendly. Will absolutely revisit the next time I take friends or family for a visit to the lake.

I accidentally stumbled upon this place while walking on the street with my girlfriend and as always the name of the restaurant Khao Hakka Refresh started feeding our curiosity. I am going to be super honest and say that the hakka noodles and Manchurian cauliflower we ordered was mouth watering. If you re looking for some really good Hakka food, this is the place. Lastly, shoutout to the staff as well who were really polite and kind !!

The food is freshly made but the taste is not - got the garlic chilli chicken (tasted like Buffalo hot sauce), the hakka noodles (had no flavour) and the hot garlic wings (nothing special), the interior not clean at all but service is fast. Will not be going back.

Food was ok not great. I ordered the chicken gravey and rice . They served rice 10 minutes before then the chicken and I ate all the rice as I was hungry. Customer service needs to improve so as the food quality.

Taste wise, its okay. But the quantity is way-way too less for the price.

Pretty good. Small space with only one washroom, and you have to order at the counter but the service and the food is great with generous portions for the price. You can get a filling meal for $10-15. I had the hakka noodles with shrimp. Disappointed with the quantity of veggies but it was still great. Noodles and shrimp were stir fried well and the sauce was delicious with the right amount of spice. After a bit of extra shrimp and chicken wings we ordered I was stuffed. Workers were friendly and offered to take a picture for us as we were trying to. Way better than I expected it to be.

Decent hakka at decent prices. Fried rice had great wok hei flavour. While the sweet and sour chicken was good, its puzzling that its labeled dry as its definitely not. The biggest disappoint was the dry chili fish, which was actually wet and extremely soggy.

No need to go to Scarbs to have the best Hakka Chili Chicken any more. Nothing special about egg fried rice but it was still a good base for killer gravy. Spicy level was just right ( even tho I could go a bit more spicy ) Highly recommend this place and gravy is THE MUST!!! Dined in. You order from the counter and pay, they bring the food to the table. Plates & cutleries are all plastic/disposable. Meal for two people was actually for three people. Leftover is always delightful!

i ordered chicken chilli 2 portions which was is no where close to chicken chilli...and one portion of paneer chili in which paneer was stale....and no taste.....quality of the food has been decreased very badly.....i wouldnt suggest anyone to order from here...waste of money...seriously....

Food quality excellent, reminds me of Indian taste. Excellent customer service, above and beyond. One of my favourite spots for lunch after work. I will suggest you to come here and enjoy with your friends and taste the perfect indian flavours by excellent chefs.

It was literally a 30sec find while browsing options at 10.30pm in downtown and was 2 mins away drive. The rating just made us pick it that quickly to meet our spicy craving on a chilly night. As quick the service was, the foods we ordered were perfectly upto the expectations and made up to our flavorful tastebud. They smelled great as soon as they were served and looking at them I knew were gonna love it! Perfect burst of flavors and spice. Very surprising and rare find in downtown for hakka lovers like us.. cant wait to go back again! Only wish the overall environment was more upto the downtown level but nevertheless, food and staffs make up for it.

We ordered vegetarian dishes on 27th Nov. Ordered paneer chilly but the dish had Tofu instead and it was soggy when it was delivered. The Veg ball manchurian tasted good overall but was too salty and we had to discard half of it. Burnt garlic noodles and chilly garlic noodles did not me expectations. I ordered Uber eats with this store; I ordered shrimp and chicken hakka noodles; it was just shrimp; chicken was missing. There were burnt noodles as well Disappointed

Service and atmosphere feels like its in a food court or fast food, however the dishes are reasonably tasty and spicy, and generous portion sizes.

I am from Scarborough so I know good Hakka food. This is good Hakka food! Delicious and fresh.

Take out via Ritual. Nicely sized order of sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice on the side was very tasty, and not a bad value. It was prepared quickly and well packaged for takeout. Will order again.

I never leave bad reviews but this experience was something I have to state. I ordered several dishes from them and I called TWICE once I noticed I had an item missing but no one picked up. I called again the next day and they asked me questions regarding my order. Rightfully so, I answer all of them and they told me to come pick up the missing item. I give them a courtesy call to say Im 5 minutes away and they start to tell me that I need a receipt of my order. Its not my fault you didnt pick up twice nor is it my fault one of your guys said he will replace it only to have me walk 10 minutes in the cold and to tell me that they couldnt do anything and to come into the store and talk. Keep your food, cause you lost a customer.
