If you’re a biryani lover, Charcoal Biryani is a must-visit spot! They serve some of the most flavorful biryanis, catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences. The aroma, spices, and perfectly cooked rice create a delightful harmony in every bite. Beyond biryanis, their menu offers a variety of dishes to explore, making it a great destination for groups with diverse tastes. Highly recommended!
Visited this place today, food was great and hygienic. Flavourful biryani and new launched burger was awesome too. Mango lassi must try! Loved the overall experience!
I typically leave reviews only when a place stands out—either for being exceptionally outstanding or utterly disappointing. Unfortunately, Charcoal Biryani falls into the latter category. My 1-star rating stems from the following serious issues: 1. False Advertising: I ordered the Charcoal Grilled Kebabs with Salad, which is advertised on the menu (as shown in the picture I’ve shared) as a fresh green leafy salad. However, what I received was a stale, bitter coleslaw that tasted as if it had been left out of the fridge for far too long. 2. Food Taste and Texture: Beyond the subpar salad, the flavor and texture of the kebab were highly disappointing. The hardness of the kebab gave the impression of being multiple days old, likely frozen and thawed repeatedly. This is not the quality one expects from a place in Downtown. 3. Unwelcoming Service: The host, who I assume is also the chef and owner of the eatery, lacked warmth and hospitality. Their demeanor made the experience far less enjoyable, leaving a poor impression. 4. Health and Hygiene Concerns (The Cherry on Top): To make matters worse, the chef/host had a knife mishap, injuring their finger. What was most concerning, however, was that there was no effort to clean or replace the knife, nor to address the chicken that had come into contact during this incident. Such negligence raises serious health and safety concerns. These oversights not only compromised the dining experience but also posed potential health risks. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place. P.S.: I only leave reviews when the experience is either exceptionally great or extremely poor. So, before anyone assumes that I leave only negative reviews, please feel free to check my balanced 50/50 review history. 😊
I hate to give this place 1 star unfortunately the food I had today on Thursday Aug 1 2024 vadapav was absolutely disgusting and not sure how old the product was as it was definitely stale take a look at the picture I had go to order and if I was eating in the food court I would have definitely taken this back for a refund however I didn’t have time to go back. I had to throw out the food in garbage after couple bites as it wasn’t edible. Order biryani and dosas but never order Vadapav Kind of unfortunate to rate them this low as I really enjoy their chicken biryani it is one of the best in the downtown core for lunch.
Absolutely delighted with my dining experience at Charcoal Biryani! The Chole and vegan Biryani was a revelation—perfectly spiced chickpeas .. with fragrant basmati rice, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that left me craving more. The Palak Paneer was equally impressive, with creamy spinach gravy enveloping tender cubes of paneer, making it a standout dish. What truly elevated the experience was the exceptional service. Two fantastic servers, always with a smile, ensured that my meal were served promptly and needs were attentively met. Their efficiency and warm demeanor added a personal touch that made the visit memorable. Charcoal Biryani is a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic and delicious Indian cuisine. Highly recommended!
This place is a nice go to for quick picks, they have a limited menu but the quality is top notch. The food is always fresh and tastey. I usually get the butter chicken which is always fresh. Their veggies options are also really tastey. There is alot of space to sit close by as well, parking is not really nice here as its downtown. They mainly serve lunch. The staff are super nice and fast. They offered me free tea as well and I really liked it.
An absolutely delicious lunch at Charcoal Biryani in the Commerce Court Food Court. I had the Masala Dosa with soup and raita. Dosa was freshly cooked to order and was crispy and so tasty. The potato mixture inside was perfectly spiced and beautifully complimented the dosa. Soup was hearty and very good. What a wonderful option to have this friendly and fast Indian restaurant serving biryanis and dosas as part of the Commerce Court Food Court. It’s about time. I’ll be back to try the veggie biryani soon!
Delicious Biryani from this women-owned, women-run homestyle kitchen located inside Commerce Court. I come here whenever I want a savoury, hot meal as it's excellent quality and well worth the price. I've eaten here a few times now and have always left full and happy. I appreciate that the food is cooked in small batches to ensure that every meal is served fresh. I've had their samosas as well and they are so tasty! Highly recommend this independent, local business!
glorious spicy lamb biryani
I recently visited Charcoal Biryani at Commerce Court Food Court, and I must say, it was an amazing experience! Their Chicken Biryani was absolutely top-notch, bursting with authentic South Indian flavors that left me craving more. What truly won me over was their Kulcha Chane perfectly spiced and incredibly satisfying. And if you re a fan of street-style burgers, their Aloo Tikki Burger is a must-try! It s flavorful, crispy, and hits all the right notes. Overall, Charcoal Biryani delivers a delicious and memorable culinary experience. I can t wait to go back and try more from their menu! Highly recommended!
If youre a biryani lover craving something unique, Charcoal Biryani is a must-try! This dish takes the classic biryani to the next level with a smoky infusion that enhances its rich flavors. The rice was perfectly cooked, fragrant with spices, and layered with tender, juicy pieces of chicken (or your choice of protein). What sets it apart is the subtle yet tantalizing smokiness from the charcoal treatment, which adds depth to every bite. Perfectly spiced, not overpowering, and paired with refreshing raita, this biryani is a flavorful treat that ll leave you coming back for more!
A few days back I was there to get food for my family, Paneer Biryani, Daal Makhni, and Naan. Excellent Biryani and Daal Makhni, all family liked so much. The staff was courteous, and smiling, and the whole environment was great, neat, and clear. Thank you
I haven t been to my home from last 2 years and when I tasted the chicken biryani from this place , it had my mom s hand taste. I was in tears Food
It s vey good Vegetarian options: Lot of veg options must try . Food : 5/5 |
The food was great especially the chicken biriyani . The dosa variety was also nice. But I really liked the vegan jackfruit biriyani Vegetarian options: The veg biriyani was splendid
my first time trying biryani was here, so I can t speak on how it compares to other places that serve biryani. however, the meal (chicken biryani) was so delicious! great portion size, tasty, and really superb customer service. i enjoyed my meal and will return again!
Great Food!
Great tasting biryani
Their food is sooooo goooood. Best chicken biryani in GTA no much masalas that will burn your stomach. Just the right amount of spice and everything. Must try!!!
Biryani is nice.
Significant drop in portion size for the biryanis. It used to be value for money earlier even while it was a dollar more but maybe no longer. Still recommended for the taste but not for the portion.
We ordered Ginger Chicken Kebab but they served Lamb kebab. When asked the gurls insisted rhat that was chicken kebab. When we challenged as the meat clearly had smell of lamb, they decided to replace. The girks at the feont were not too bad. It ws the problem in the kitchen. The Dosa we ordered was was so so. The samvar was good but the chutney was horrible. I do not think that I shall come again.
We discovered this gem on a 12hour layover in Toronto. The food was excellent. The owner even prepared a couple dishes for our sons who love Indian food. Can highly recommend.
Tasty and consistent. Great lunch spot!
Very good halal food
Lamb kabab is amazing
the food is delicious.. And the service is quick, they are so nice and sweet! Absolutely loved it!
Great food and service
It was my first time trying out and it definitely did NOT disappoint. I got the traditional chicken biryani and it was amazingly good !!! Will definitely go back and try the other dishes. I also got a free brownie ! Staff is nice and welcoming. Overall, it was a really nice experience. I do recommend !
Standards have fallen quite a bit - took a colleague there last month to have chicken biryani. The chicken was raw/undercooked/pink. When we brought it to their attention, the excuse given was that it was made this morning. Its not like chicken gets cooked overnight in the fridge! Zero apology & reluctantly removed the item off our bill. The courteous thing to do would have been to take off the entire bill (consisting of an additional samosa and a veg biryani). Disappointed at the blasé attitude towards serving raw meat and general curmudgeon-y nature of staff.
The owner was very friendly and the food was quite good in both taste and portion. Will definitely come here again!
Best indian outlet in the area, good food for a great pricd
Good price and filling portions. This place continues to deliver a great experience.
I have always been a fan of Butter chicken but tge host suggested trying out their specialty, charcoal biryani and thank God I listened to her because it was amazing!!! Ill try the Butter chicken another day but will surely repeat the biryani!!!
Nice Vegetarian options: Nice Food : 5/5 |
Amazing food with a great service. Staff is very friendly and helpful. All biryani lovers must visit.
I had a great meal at Charcoal Biryani! The Paneer Tikka Biryani was so tasty, with delicious paneer and perfect spices. They even gave me free Masala tea, which was really good. The place is cozy, and the staff are very friendly. I highly recommend visiting Charcoal Biryani you should try the Paneer Tikka Biryani!
Great place to enjoy mouthwatering Indian cuisine. They serve hot, crispy and fresh dosa. Great service and ambience. Must try their flavourful biryanis
I had a great time at Charcoal Biryani! The Ginger Chicken Kabob was so delicious tender and full of flavor. The place has a cozy vibe, and the staff were super friendly. If youre looking for a tasty meal, I highly recommend checking out Charcoal Biryani. You won t regret it!
Nice environment
I had a fantastic meal at Charcoal Biryani! The Jackfruit Biryani was incredibly flavorful and delicious. They even offered a complimentary Masala tea, which was wonderful. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and the staff were very welcoming. I highly recommend Charcoal Biryani for a great dining experience. You ll love it!
Fantastic spot for lunch! Chicken biryani is delicious and service is so friendly!
The worst biryani we ever had, not sure why they call it a biryani its completely tasteless.Never ever will visit again! stay out please.
I tried this place for the first time this week and I was so impressed by the quality of food and the service they provide! First of all, they are the only food place that offers Vegetarian Seekh kebab - I was surprised to see that on their menu so I ordered it. And it was the best vegetarian seekh kebab I ve had in a long time!! Came with a layer of rice and green chutney (they even asked me if I wanted any of their curries as a topping, but I politely said no due to health reasons). A memorable lunch at office for sure! I ll come back for more Vegetarian options: Veg seekh kebab (broccoli and spinach)
Vegetarian options: I went for wada pav option. I am not sure what it was.. all crunchy, super tiny and paid $8.99 plus taxes and it was not fresh either. Had to throw away the whole thing Food
Food was atrocious and terrible. Got biryani here for $10 and they were less in quantity, smelly, undercooked and tasted extremely horrible. Massive scam and please avoid this place at all costs so not worth it.
Vegetarian options: Lot of vegetarian options available. Food is quite tasty. Food
Great Food! They haven t missed the perfect Desi touch to their dishes!
Getting dosa in food court! What more can you ask. My non Indian colleagues enjoyed the biriyani and it was right for their spice level.
Good food!
Be prepared to wait a very long time for your meal. Spent my whole lunch break waiting for my order, its as if they are farming for the rice and picking each grain one by one, when in all actuality the meal was just a scoop and dump from the hot tray. 20 min line up at 3mins/person and then 20 min for the food that was infront of them... Food tastes good just ridiculously slow at everything with several people working.
Overall I d recommend this place to enjoy decent food
Great food.. Loved the Paneer Biryani
Spicy lamb biryani is amazing!
Food was exceptionally good
Chicken in the biryani was not cooked, almost raw. Avoid.
The food was very good and there was a very large portion. They were very friendly and even added extra cream to mine to make it more mild. Would visit again!
Absolutely amazing! Portion sizes great, taste great, service exceptional :)
The lamb biryani I ordered was good. Lamb was tender and well cooked. The biryani was a bit sweeter to my taste, and the overall taste was good. Would love to see more lamb in the biryani.
Very good
Amazjng Biryanni Vegetarian options: Inquire about vegetarian options Food : 5/5 |
food is good, more than the food its the service which made a difference for me. a kind lady in the staff name Sujata helped me get what i was l looking to get in my order. will buy again.
I got a boneless chicken biryani. They gave me 3 small pieces of chicken and the biryani was cold. They sprinkled red chilli flakes to make it spicy. Super disappointed it used to be good when it opened
For 16.99 I got 6 small pieces of butter chicken, 1/8 of papadum and 1/4 of butter nann. Fair to say this will be a one time wonder on our list. Server was as unfriendly as you can get. Manager in charge was professional and nice though.
Tried for the first time the food was cold and tasted bland. The service was not bad. The food didnt meet our expectation.
First time here and got a great chicken biryani. Recommend trying.
Great service. Great food.
Great place to get tasty and quick Indian food in downtown Vegetarian options: The place also has good options for vegetarians. Food : 4/5 |
Paid 19$ for fee chunk of chicken and butter sauce with some complementary rice and one naan Taste wise no good I can eat batter butter chicken other place in same price range Food
Great food. Love the taste
Chicken 65 biryani was neither chicken 65 nor a biryani. I may eat it when I am super hungry but again 18 dollar for that is too much.
Good place to grab quick Indian food ; taste wise it s okay . Cost is less , so .
Tasty food!!
Dosa in the path! Also their biryani is great. Excellent vegan options
Good spicy food
Great food with warm hospitality
Tried biryani. Food is worst Vegetarian options: Are ok Food : 1/5 |
Purchased Chicken Biriyani. Taste was so weird. And the raita was pathetic. Unable to eat.
Really good biriyani, I enjoyed it and good customer service
I tried traditional chicken biryani and the taste did not have biryani flavour. I found it very bland taste.
Soooo good! The chicken biryani was perfectly spiced.
So disappointed with my $16 lunch, I got rice, liquidy buttered chicken (few small pieces of chicken)and liquidy pea soup, not worth my money. I returned to ask for meat and peas, still just a little small pieces they added, not recommended anymore m, just go to next door stall. Vegetarian options: Lots of options
I have been here many times and the food is just amazing. Once I had to exchange my order due to some missing garnishing, but the staff was extremely patient in listening to my converns and very generous in giving me a replacement which tasted absolutely delicious.
It has become my regular go to place! I tried almost all the menu items and the mini samosas are dope.
One of my friends recommended it for me. Turns out to be one of the best options for a lunch during office days. Loved their traditional chicken biryani. Located conveniently in commerce court path.
First they charged me $20 for chicken briyani which is more. But than when I told the staff then she fixed it but again they charged $16 ($1 extra). My friend bought the same item and was charged less ($15). Plus serving staff is too slow. You have to wait for 10 mins but they tell you to wait 5 mins. Also briyani does not taste well at all. It s very blend without any flovors.
I had a really tasty briyani after a long time. I had chicken 65 briyani which had a dense charcoal flavour which elevated the taste of the briyani. Highly recommend this place! Vegetarian options: Good spread of veg options
The most lovely customer experience. Bonus points for being nut free, which eases my experience as someone with a nut allergy.
Great service
Great food
First time time visiting today and had the spicy lamb Biryani, it was very tasty. Just the right spice (real spice). I ll be going back.
I had the Lamb Biryani and it is very tasy! Why settle for chicken when you can have lamb? The staff are very friendly and polite. This location is in a foodcourt and I dont often go to foodcourts but Ill be back here for sure! So good!
Great food.. amazing service.. friendly staff. Definity recommend if you want a real authentic food in Toronto. Vegetarian options: great vegetarian option
One of my new favourite places for lunch! The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious!
Wrong order, small portion and stale food.
I ordered slow cooked charcoal lamb biriyani. The biriyani was rich in flavour and delicious. The food is served hot and the quality is excellent. Just the prices are on higher side for the quantity served.
Being rude to customers who did not have a great experience, not a good look on the owners. Editing this original post because the owners would like to be rude instead of taking criticism and they attack anyone who doesnt leave a positive review. To clarify what happens....the entire bowl was filled with rice (cost probably $2 max) and then the staff member began put a thin layer of gravy on top of the rice and actively avoid putting paneer in the bowl. (She actually put it back when she picked up 3 pieces at once). The portion ratio of rice to gavy was 90%- 10%. Overall cost to prep this meal is about $5-$6, but I get it, you are located downtown mark it up to $14-17. But the least you can do is fix your portions. I purchase lunch in downtown everyday and decided to try this place, but will definitely not be visiting again. Not worth the price. Portions are way off. They loaded up the entire bowl with rice and an extremely stingy amount of curry.
Staff had great customer skills and the food was good too
Nice experience
The girl from ihm pusa is such a worst worker talks very rudely and very arrogant . The whole outlwt shoulf close
Visited this newly opened place for lunch. I must say, I really liked Dosa, it was buttery and crispy. Chutneys (green and white) were also very tasty. Sambar was not too spicy but could have been little warmed up. For those visiting during lunch time, expect longer delays particularly for Dosa as they make it fresh (which is a great thing !). I am planning to visit again to try Biryani. Vegetarian options: This place does offer variety of vegetarian and vegan options in both food and drinks
Best biryani in the area, and the service was great as well!
I got sambhar idli- 4 pieces with sambhar for $15.90 ( including taxes) the size can of the idlis were very small and not fluffy enough and the quantity of sambhar was also very less. For the quantity the price is not justified. Also the quality of coconut chutney was really bad. I also purchased aam panna ($5.65) incl taxes not very good falt as if it was very diluted. Not recommended. As a reply to the response from restaurant- you are wrong i was not the customer with 3 friends- it is not right to assume if friends are buying a meal together they are sharing it. It is a personal choice where someone may be accompanying their friends. Hence for 1 person also the price is high and quantity is less in consideration with quality. There are other restaurants in downtown toronto offering better and affordable food ( same cuisine) . Thank you
Service is wonderful. Very polite staff and food is delicious! Also accommodating to my requests. Thank you!
Loved the taste and quality of the food. I ordered idli and sambar. Authentic home made taste. Cant wait to try more items. Excellent customer service. Food
Fantastic biryani and dosas. Very friendly service !
Amazing Customer Service!!. They have excellent biryani options. I tried eggplant spinach and paneer tikka biryani here. It was amazing. Must try!!. Also, food was served hot and on time. I recommend everyone to try this restaurant if you are a biryani lover.
Had Chicken Biryani today and may I say easily the worst Ive ever had. If the sales auntie didnt recommend curry to go with, it would have been even terrible. As a biryani lover I was totally disappointed. My friend who had the same shared the sentiments
The food here is fantastic! Amongst the never ending salad places, this little dosa and biryani spot is a refreshing change and honestly a great relief. The people that work here always serve the food with a smile. Next time you re on your lunch break, definitely check them out
This place popped out of no where at the commerce court cibc food court. Very impressed by the flavour, so authentic. You can tell it was freshly prepared. Portion sizes are great, sometimes I have some left over and take it home for pre dinner meal. Must try are the CREPES, fusion twist to stuffed parathas but this packs a lot more deliciousness. Highly impressed, waited to try a few dishes before leaving review. Fast food. NO! Fast but flavoured not greasy! Vegetarian options: Both veggie and meat options, the ingredients are fresh!
I tried the chicken biryani , to say it was delicious would be an understatement! Its the best biryani i have ever tasted in downtown Toronto, the chicken was so fresh, soft and juicy! The rice had the right amount of masala and not too dry ( like usually it is ) also the raita and papad were a good combination! Do try ! Food
The samosas are amazing and the chutney is finger licking good
Move over Jimmy the Greek. This is my new favorite lunch spot in the core. I am a big fan of their Lamb Biryani. Served with a pappadam and a yummy raita. Only minor quibble is the papadam should be seperated so it doesnt get soft. But try it you will love it
Loved the food. Had lamb biryani - lamb was tender and all the spices were on the point. Will visit again.
Very pleased with my order here! I had the spicy paneer dosa: spicy paneer was a pleasant level of heat, the fillings were richly spiced, the dosa was crispy with a touch of sweetness, the accompanying chutneys complimented the other flavours well, and the sambal was a refreshing side. Overall, a tasty, healthy, and very well-priced offering in a part of town that has a serious need for good, halal South Asian food!
I love the Chicken Biryani here! Excellent customer service as well.
Great Customer Service. Fresh and tasty food. Their Chicken Biryani is the best.
The biriyani was not properly cooked and the manager mentioned it s already 3 in the afternoon and we can apply that much only. My friend got allergic after having that biriyani worst experience ever. food department of Canada should address like these restaurants and take action on this Food
I consider myself as spoilt for biryani given my wife cooks one of the best biryanis. I have developed into a outside biryani sceptic as a result. I had the regular chicken biryani without much expectation and it turned out well for a food court joint. Charcoal biryani is a genuine attempt at delivering home favourites such as biryani and dosa in downtown Toronto busy hours. So first I am thankful to the owner to go out their and give it their all. But secondly, I feel that the food has heart and that is more than what is required for a quick bite on a busy weekday at the office. Looking forward to try the dosa next.
Excellent customer service! The lady was kind to offer me a complimentary bottle of water! Touched by the kindness. Cant wait to try the biryani! Thank you once again for your generosity.
Love this new location at Commerce Court! Delicious briyani (healthy portions) and friendly staff. I ve come two times and will keep dining here!
Love the dosa so fresh and taste delicious. 10/10 dosa. Samosa also excellent!
Difficult to find good biryani in Downtown. That being said I really liked the chicken biryani and mango lassi here. Good job guys, keep the good work going :)
Decent portion size and price. I got the spicy lamb biryani - its not super spicy & goes well with the sauce.
I Love the biryani from charcoal biryani My go to place for lunch in the path . Try their chicken biryani for sure.
Friendly service and great food
My first Dosa experience, very good!
One of the best paneer biryanis in town! Loved it
Amazing food!
Great staff, good place to go if you are craving for some Chicken Biryani.
Great food, excellent team- 5 stars! Tried the masala dosa (lets not call it crepe please). The flavor was on the spot, portion size was perfect! (Probably a bit too much for lunch tbh). An option to make the food more tangy/spicy would be nice. Food
Definitely a spot people should give a try ! Really nice people and the lamb biryani is unbelievably good.
The Paneer Biriyani was yummy. Highly recommend. They also have Vegan Biryani Option.
compared to the indian restaurant at eaton centre, this one is better imo. food is great, portion is generous, and they have potatoes and some crunchy stuff in the biryani that makes it taste rly good. another bonus for how quiet the cafeteria is, it s like a hidden gem
Amazing service and excellent food
Tried the place for the first time , the server was sweet , the service was rapid and the food was scrumptious , loved it !!!
Fiery Lamb Biryani.. Sufficient portion, many lamb chops , crispy flakes in biryani elevates the taste, papad with biryani is a new experience. The dahi/curd/yogurt is a good alternative for a dessert after the biryani. Worth the price to pay for. Good hospitality by the staff.
Only place in DT PATH where you get Dosa. Food is good and service levels are great. This will be on my regular list of places to grab a quick bite during lunch !
Tastes delicious
One the best biryanis I ve had in downtown Toronto. Tastes just like home and they give you a generous serve. This is my go to for work lunches. Staff is lovely and they give you great recommendations for items on their menu. Must try! :) Food
Service and atmosphere I cannot comment much on as I tried this at chefs hall. The food however was very disappointing. The vegetarian kebab was dry, spicy. The chicken shawarma had no flavour, salt, seasoning. It was chicken sprinkled with cumin powder. The salad had no dressing. It was chopped up veggies. The mango lassi was not liquid as it should be but mango flavoured yogurt, thick in consistency. Wouldn t define this as Indian food at all.
Amazing food with halal menu. Great for your South Indian fix! Dosa with chili chicken was amazing. Try their specialty mint green drink as well. Dietary restrictions: Halal
One of my new favourite spots downtown to grab lunch! Biryani is delicious. Several options from chicken, lamb or vegetarian. Staff is very friendly. Very reasonably priced taking into account what most other lunch places down in the PATH cost.
Great food, good variety and quick service!
Great addition to the PATH!! I have tried both the biryani and dosa and they are both amazing for downtown PATH. Food is fresh and tasty and the south indian dishes are a great addition to the usual North Indian fare you get elsewhere. Staff is helpful if this is your first time. Will definitely be an addition to my dining option at work! :) Vegetarian options: As with indian food, lots of vegetarian options.
Excellent lamb and veg biryani the staff is very pleasant and very helpful in making us pick the right meal Had lamb biryani was super delicious great portion sizes a must visit place
Vegan biryani is a must try. Very friendly staff too! Dietary restrictions: Great vegan options Food : 5/5 |
The quantity is really less and it is too expensive as compared to others. I ordered idli and masala dosa, chutney and sambhar were not all tasty and the food smells bad too, reply we get on negative reviews are hilarious. For sure #Nogo for next time
Great tasting Dosa and friendly staff. Vegetarian options: Lots of options Dietary restrictions: Gluten free - celiac safe options - crepes are safe
Very nice discovery in the city center! The service is excellent and the welcome warm. I dont regret trying at all. The quantities are generous and the taste is excellent. My choice fell on the Biryani Chicken and it was delicious! Thank you for your cooking and your beautiful aura :) Signed, the young woman with silver glasses.
Very nice people, I enjoyed the lamb biryani
I ordered the lamb biryani at Charcoal Biryani today and the food was amazing. It was the right portion and the spice level was good too..not too spicy!! The service I received too was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Super friendly and delicious
Really great, authentic taste! Service was friendly and prompt. Would definitely recommend to anyone craving desi food during the work day.
Charcoal biriyani is one of the best indian eatary among the others in downtown food courts. Foods tastes great and comes in good quantity. This place is always busy. I mostly tried biriyani but their dosa are great too.
Paneer Briyani is superb and very tasty.
My family and I came to this restaurant and were greeted with the best smiles and food recommendations. We had an amazing time. The service was great and the food was wonderful.
Quick service. Tasty food. Polite and kind staff.
Place where we can get vegetarian Indian food. Tastes good.
The dosa was just amazing and the staff was friendly. I would recommend a 10/10 for their customer service and food.
Amazing Panner Biryani. Staff was excellent. Food quality and Taste was amazing.
Would ve given an extra star for food and service if the option was there (shoutout to the kind owner aunty ji)! Biryani is on spot and 110% worth it.
Surprised that a vegan option in Biryani is available and ordered the Vegan Cauliflower, Eggplant and spinach Biryani. The spinach is a rare add to Biryani and frankly I didn t see lot of in the biryani. Eggplant is normally avoided in Biryani as well. They add a splash of rose water before packing the container and also add a piece of roasted papad(dum). The papad is all soggy by the time you open the container so it was a wasted addition. The veggie mixture and rice ratio is way off and you are just eating plain rice most of the bites. Rose water does not add anything to flavour but you get a faint aroma, but not needed I think. Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options are available Dietary restrictions: They accommodate dairy and egg free choices
Editing the review as it was called misguiding by the owner. The facts are stated more clearly below. 1) The pager system did not work. 2) When I went to check on my food after 20 minutes I was not given an apology for the technical malfunction but accused of ignoring multiple attempts to contact. I was sitting at a table 10 meters from the restaurant watching them struggle with a very long line so I was definitely within range and thought they were just overwhelmed, leading to the delays. The pager was also not actively going off so clearly couldn t have been my fault. 3) I was told a refund was not possible and not provided a reason. I preferred a refund because I had just been accused of ignoring the pager, they were busy, I didn t have more time to wait for them to remake my food, and my dining partner had already finished their meal by that time. 4) The menu board was not on when I visited so the ordering process was unnecessarily complex. 5) I thought the price was high but realize now that I added a tip. I guess this is a reason tipping in advance when the option comes up is a huge mistake. I will try and adjust my tipping behaviour going forward. 6) In a food court when customers get there before the rush and are ordering pre-prepared food I truly think the pager system is unnecessary. Been working in the financial district for 20 years and this is the first pager I ve ever been handed. I m all for innovation when it works. This did not work.
Great service from the staff here and food is tasty
Amazing to have Dosa at Commerce Court. Food is delicious, fast and the service is excellent
Chicken Biryani taste was good but with hardly any chicken in it. Also they took too long to provide the food for some orders. Also my stomach got upset after having the Biryani, not sure if it was the meat or the rice. Hope they can improve.
Awesome food, Great Taste, Excellent Customer sevice. The chicken Biryani was top notch. The customer service was fantastic and fast. Would recommend everyone to atleast try once.
Ive come here several times with colleagues and friends from RBC and each time, I leave having tried something new. The biryanis, dosas, samosas and sambhars are all to die for! Really tasty and well-presented. Ill keep coming back for more :)
Very good service and food
Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options Food
Excellent food & amazingly quick!
I have tried the spicy lamb biryani it was really good, quantity was also sufficient. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for biryani
Excellent food, personal touch service. Service time could be improved- a bit quicker. Food
Test less and worthless. This not a biryani this waist of money.
Vegan and gluten free option, but really the food stands on its own merits! Worth the extra two bucks for the Roganjosh curry too.
Very delicious food with good service. There are vegetarian and gluten free options
It is a nice place to have ur meal specially dosa and even people serving are really good with customers.
One of the best biriyani restaurant in Toronto.
Amazing food and very helpful staff Always the best place to have lunch during office hours Food
Great quality food and service. This is the best place to grab delicious Biryani. I would like to visit the place again soon.
Excellent Biryani provided by Charcoal. owner was kind enough to provide free lassi as the buzzer didn t vibrate. Thank you for the excellent food.. Vegetarian options: Biryani+ Sambar+ Chutney
A dosa and Biryani place in the commerce court food court. My new favorite lunch spot!
The lady at the cash was super nice and lovely - the food was served promptly and was piping hot - I like it that way. No much comment on the atmosphere since it s in a food court and my order was to go. I ordered a paneer tikka biryani. The food was tasty but I would not call it biryani since there were no elements of biryani related spices. The food was cooked well and well seasoned. Also I could not sense any charcoal flavour. Overall it s not bad at all just that it wasn t biryani really. I am all in support for the women run shop- kudos for their hard work. All the best ladies !
Amazing food
Visited for the first time and I was not disappointed. I had chicken tikka biryani which is served with papad and mint raita. I chose to takeaway and eat in my office. The food was warm and the taste was A1. I will come again and try their other biryani options and dosas as well.
I had the chilli chicken biryani. Very tasty but needs more chicken. I would rather pay a bit more and get a better balance of chicken to rice. Service was great. Lots of potential for this new addition to the CC food court.
I ordered Dosa. They make it in front of you. It was good. My colleague ordered Paneer Tikka Biryani that was awesome. Great service. Staff is friendly. Vegetarian options: Good options for vegeterian
Amazing service. The lady at the counter was super sweet and kind. I will definitely recommend to all my friends.
Best Indian food in toronto downtown. I had paneer tikka biryani and palak paneer. So delicious. Highly recommend this place to everyone. Staff is very friendly. I wish I could give 10 stars.. Dietary restrictions: They also have vegan options
The lamb biryani was amazing. It was a good amount of meat, it wasn t extraordinarily spicy, and the flavours were amazing.
Tasty food
The food was stale, uncooked and overpriced.
