472 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M5T 1G9, Canada
Chinese comfort food sums it all up. Staff really friendly, helpful, and attentive. Very lengthy menu. They sat me near the front of the restaurant where it was somewhat cold. Bring a sweater. I had the stewed beef brisket with radish. Just like mom used to make!
This place is a hidden gem that is easy to miss because it's upstairs on the second floor. The lunch specials are good value for money (daily from 11 am to 4 pm). $14.95 for your choice of soup, entrée, and drink. I got the cream of ham soup, the baked ground beef with cheese (your choice of rice or spaghetti), and the lemon tea. Tasty and good portions. My fiancé liked the Chinese soup and the pork chops with black peppercorn. Friendly and fast service. Payment by debit card or cash only.
Really glad that I found this place. It’s a bit hidden, up a flight of stairs on Dundas St. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and was able to get seated pretty quickly - beside the windows too. It’s a nice interior - feels bright and airy and they have some music playing that my friend from HK said reminded him of home. The staff are super welcoming and attentive throughout. The food portions are pretty generous and reasonably priced. They’re tasty and definitely filling. Would come back to try their other dishes, and recommend others to try it when they are in the area.
A small second floor Hong Kong style diner located in Toronto's Spadina Chinatown area. The exterior sign is old and faded and you have to go up a set of stairs to get to the restaurant but don't let that dissuade you, this place serves seriously delicious HK style diner food. The curry and chow mein were absolutely delicious as was the steak dinner. If you come to this place, make sure you're very hungry as the portions are huge. The owners of this place are lovely and make everyone feel welcome. Try this place out you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Great value and incredibly delicious food! Diverse menu! Attentive service, we will definitely come again! My favourite was the eel fried rice, the best fried rice I’ve ever tried.
Hidden Gem in Chinatown.Been going there for years. Great food portion, great taste. They never disappoint. The authentic old Hong Kong vibe is unbeatable. You will feel that sense of calm right when you step in. Will highly recommend every dish from the daily special menu and the dinning combo menu they put up the wall. Last but not least, great customer service from the lady server, very pleasant and polite.
Super tasty food with good portions, lots of variety, and really attentative service. Has a relaxing and calm atmosphere like an old fashioned diner, but with a 2nd floor view and filling asian and fusion food. Would definitely go again!
One of the rare hongkong cafes in downtown Toronto. They have the best tomato porkchop on rice but half the time i just come for their lunch special combo. $15 gets you a entree, soup, and drink of choice. I love that the lunch special changes all the time so i can always try new things. The people working there are absolutely the nicest!Portions are huge! I always end up bringing half for lunch the next day.
wonderful restaurant! The food is fantastic, and the host is so enthusiastic
Good service and decent food, so delicious that we almost eat everything up. Dont forget to offer reasonable amount of tips!
My very picky HK-born mother likes it here. Authentic HK dishes at a great price point and the portions are very generous. Everyone working there is very friendly and fluent in Cantonese and English. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a flight of stairs to get to the restaurant
Delicious food, generous portions and amazing staff!
closest thing to hong kong food there is
First time going here and will definitely be going back. The service and staff were superb. Very easy atmosphere. Great food! Recommend the Shanghai Style Vermicelli, Oxtail soup with side of rice, and soup. Had a real homemade ice tea, which was simply fantastic. Reasonable prices, wont break the bank. Great place to go solo or with friends! Wheelchair accessibility: Unfortunately no wheelchair access that was visible
Very delicious! Some dishes are only available here, and I traveled 40 kilometers to eat them. But the environment smells too bad
Great food and service. Would highly recommend to try the ho fun noodles and the pork chop with tomato sauce on rice. HK Milk tea was also fire
So good and highly recommended! Daily specials are so good!!!! Excellent service, making you feel like home
The dry fried beef river is delicious.
Good service. The foods were good however the drinks needed some improvement.
The lady wearing glasses provides very good service. I love this place, it feels like going home.
Food was fantastic and service was excellent. The two ladies serving us were so sweet and attentive! Would highly recommend for an authentic Hong Kong cafe experience
My favorite is the chicken rice and black bean hofen
Great food, wonderful service! I had the Kung Pao Chicken with rice and an iced lemon tea.
Went here before ans boywithuke went here instant w
Good
One of my favourite restaurants in Chinatown. Portions are generous, food is fairly priced, and always delicious. On top of that, the service is legitimately the best I ve ever had, everyone is super friendly and helpful every time we go. I highly recommend their iced yuanyang as well.
Very big menu, affordable, and big portion sizes. The food is pretty good. The staff are very friendly.
Had some HK style milk tea and the fried ramen noodles. Very friendly staff, the tea was very good and the place was super clean.
Nice food. Great value. Not fancy restaurant but we were very happy finding this place. The daily lunch specials are great value. At 3pm for lunch the place is still busy.
My second time to be here for the wonderful food and friendly waitress
Recommended by a guy sitting at the bar in a joint in Yorkville. There are so many restaurants on Dunbas in Chinatown. the only reason we went upstairs to this joint was the recommendation. They were very friendly. The fried rice, the touchstone to any Chinese restaurant is among the best I have had in a long time. Everything excellent. Bill was very reasonable
Bloody fantastic. Cantonese noodles were absolutely delicious.
The restaurant is located on the second floor. Unfortunately the environment was not as clean (sticky flooring and tables), however the food was fantastic. They have a very large menu offering multiple ways to customize your meals. They also have special promotions daily. Note: Credit card requires a 3% extra surcharge.
You have to try the Hainan chicken here! It was so good I didn t even get the chance to take a picture!! I wasn t expecting this place to be any good when I first entered but it s a hidden gem in Chinatown
I went there in 2022. The gesture of asking for a tip was really uncomfortable. I will never go to this restaurant again.
Coming back to downtown after years. Found this hidden gem on the second floor on Dundas Street. Food was delicious, portions are huge and service was quick.
Big portions and tasty food! The flavours are classic Cantonese cuisine, with the veggies done perfectly so theres just enough crunch. Service was quick, even during a busy day during Lunar New Year.
Avoid this place if you don t speak Chinese. The man at the cashier is exceptionally rude and will ignore you if you don t speak Chinese well. You will be waiting longer for service or ignored if you re not a regular. Food is overpriced.
delicious real food at a good price and great customer service
The dishes we had were fantastic and the service was great! I recommend the Hai Nan Chicken Rice and Pork chop curry. The portion were great and tea too!
The owner yelled at me for not leaving a tip when service is almost non existent. Saying it is not an excuse for not leaving a tip. There was no service at all when we were having a meal. If there was no tip, the boss would scold me and say, Thats no reason not to tip.
Good food, good portions, good service
Coworker and I had a craving for some Hainanese Chicken after several failed attempts to find a decent one in downtown Toronto. After reading some blogs about best Hainanese chicken we were excited to try this place as it was voted as a good one and it was near where we work. We learned that Hong Kong Bistro Cafe has been there since 1989. There are so many choices in Chinatown that this one is easy it miss. Its right beside HSBC and you have to go up a flight of stairs to get there. Please note this place is closed on Tuesdays, like many other establishments in Chinatown. It restaurant was about 75% full and we waited patiently for the food however I will say that it took awhile. I dont know if its because we both ordered the same thing and we had seen one other customer get the same dish (before us). Maybe they only keep 1 or 2 of them in the backburners so they had to make a fresh one. Either way, Im typically used to getting food in about 5-10 minutes at any other restaurant in the Chinatown area but here the food took about 20-25 minutes to arrive. Their Hainanese chicken did not disappoint. The portion is absolutely huge and the price comes out to around $18 after tip. I would highly recommend this place and I will be coming back. Wheelchair accessibility: No wheelchair accessibility. You have to climb a flight of stairs to get to this restaurant.
Service here is amazing. Best Hong Kong bistro hidden gem. Spaghetti and baked pork chop isnsos good. Get the iced lemon tea. Maybe some chicken wings. Its cash and debit only here. Love this on a weekend brunch
decent quality HK-style western dinner
Good portion for the price
We saw this place has higher rating in Chinatown, and we wanted to go to a HK style cafe. So, here we are. At first, we went to the place on the first floor by mistake and noticed everyone was having different kinds of food! We ordered a T-bone meal that came with a daily soup, baked pork chop rice, and a HK style mix of tea and coffee. The portion were big. We should have just ordered one dish! T-bone was great on a sizzling hot plate with gravy, it also came with rice or spaghetti and vegetables. Daily soup, bitter melon with pork. was unexpected good. For baked pork chop rice, the pork chop was too deep fried for me and the flavour of the sauce was lighter than expected. The fried rice was pretty good, though; it was still good when I had it for lunch the next day. HK style mix of tea and coffee was quite good as well. They had two tall tea spots, and we guessed they did it in the proper way.
The milk tea is fragrant, creamy and on par with Hong Kong standards. Great service! The prices in Chinatown are so high and low!
Seafood not fresh, and resulted in food poisoning. Cream cheese baked rice uses kraft singles slices and not real cheese.
Ive always loved this place
I love this place!! There s something special about their food that isn t like most HK cafes. Always tasty and fresh! Also the auntie working at the front is the sweetest and so considerate A hidden gem in downtown!
Food is fine, nothing special lol. Probably wont come back. For $20 (after tax and tip) there are better value/tastier options around.
Best cafe is HK cafe. Its not the food is the people. Im kidding its the food too. Got the tomato ox tail rice and its just how it tasted in my memories. Their lunch deal is great too!
Very good service attitude, very pleasant experience
They are very caring of customer
Didn t like the spaghetti, tasted like ketchup and was too sweet
Warm and cozy place for dinner
Food is always good and the servers are always super welcoming!
The service attitude of the staff is excellent they will take the initiative to help
The service was shockingly friendly and attentive for a HK cafe. Ive tried a few dishes here before, all were decent to good. 2 that stood out where the baked pork chop on rice, and the baked ox tongue on rice (tongue was tender and excellently prepared). The curry rice was pretty decent too. Ive also tried takeout and was happy to report that most of their dishes travel fairly well, or reheat decently. Probably a testament to the overall quality of the food that this place is still around after so many years. Theyve renovated so its more modern now. In terms of value, they are slightly over overpriced compared to similar places in Markham/Scarborough. But as the only HK cafe-styled restaurant downtown they do a good job so Ill gladly pay a small premium - having such great service is just a bonus.
The staff were super nice and friendly. Their food and milk tea was pretty good too :D generous portions, I would come back!
Amazing service. Its one of those hole in a wall type of restos thatll welcome you with open arms. Highly recommended.
Food ok but service is great
Update: Post COVID New Year, I decided to come here for the New Year celebration Food is still delicious. Price is still good, considering the order item (lobster+beef+seafood soup+,hot lemon honey tea) and the portion of the food... I have been a regular customer to this place for a very long time. Food is very delicious. But what I like the most is their Hong Kong style milk tea and their daily Chinese soup ( ). Very authentic flavour. Also like their lunch special, comes with soup and a free drink (hot, if you want it cold, extra charge applies). Its usually very filling. And lunch special runs until 5pm everyday. They also have Hong Kong style afternoon tea options from 2:30 to 5pm everyday. My favorite dishes are club house sandwich, Hoi Nam chicken rice, Seafood and pineapple fried rice, pork chop cutlet, pork chop in chili peppers salt rice.
How should I put this? Hong Kong Bistro is not a restaurant for us. It s the place I go when going for a date for a three-course meal without breaking the bank. It s a place I go when I don t feel like cooking but still eat healthy. It s the place where I don t scroll thousand pages of recommendation for good place that satisfy everyone s need for a friends hangout. It has sentimental value to me, and it s the only place I ll miss when I leave the city.
perfect
I love this HK Bistro. They speak Cantonese here and you can hear the wok going non stop of you sit close to the kitchen, which I love hearing.
Food quality and taste has fallen since our visit pre-pandemic. Service of wait staff is a bit indifferent but there is a lady who works there - she is a rock star! Accepts cash, debit, and credit (reluctantly.) Wait times can vary depending on time of day and number of guests.
Been going here since a kid but recently went back for the first time in maybe 10 years The food is still proper and place is slammed for lunch Best HK cafe style food downtown Food : 5/5
Good place...good food.
soups are too starchy, everything else is ok
Food is decent for HK style dishes but it got more expensive. It was disappointing to find out that dinner sets are priced to the high 20s to 30s.
Ok ..I order the stew beef with rice ...the curry taste good not too hot n spicy...and the quantity is large..but off course for me..I am more concern about quality than quantity...service are nice n fast..the place is just ordinary cafe design....nothing special but good for quick meal...price are similar to all other restaurants in this area...off course you can get much more reasonable price with similar quality in Scarborough.Markham.Unionville n Richmond Hill.... Good was judge at this moment today when I order it
Takes forever to serve the food. People came after me finished food, while I was still waiting for my food.
The serving speed is very slow, and it is especially slow for those who speak Mandarin. It has been more than an hour since I ordered the dishes, and they have not been served. It feels like waiting for someone to take the dishes.
Maybe the only Hong Kong style café/bistro in the city. Surely, one finds more in the GTA, but you dont need to drive all the way to Markham to have the same goodies.
It was my first time coming to this establishment , my boyfriend had the hainan chicken before and wanted me to try. it didn t disappoint!!!!! how can a dish be so simple yet so full of flavour, moist and just delicious. the ginger sauce i would say to me is the best ginger sauce or is it a paste? , that i ever had in Spadina the place feels so homey like your just eating in your moms kitchen. service was very friendly and accommodating definitely my new favourite spot in Chinatown for hainan chicken.
I love this place ! And the staff are amazing long time customer
The authentic spanish omelet, no more discussions between onion or no onion, now with kiwi and fries
The food takes 45 minutes to get to our table and we didnt order something that complicated. We also did not like the food that much because it doesnt taste like an authentic Hong Kong Cha Chaang Teng. When we are paying they even insisted on us tipping more and we didnt like the customer service and the food.
Took 45 min waiting for a satay noodle and fuyung rice. Tasted bad and demanded tips.
Took forever for dishes to come. They demanded tips too even though we didnt like the food. Very disappointing and doesnt taste authentic.
Their menu showed a lower price, but when checking out, they charged more and said their menu price was out of date, but they never mentioned this before ordering
The lady server was only nice, thats all. But the food is meh...I ordered a chicken with corn cream on rice. I was very disappointed that there were only a few tiny strands of chicken. The chicken was not even a size of a thigh or breast. It was all just sauce. I spent $18 CAD for an overpriced meal that is not worth it.
Hong Kong milk tea is so good! Sunday is super busy and recommended to avoid the peak time
Classic tasty Hong Kong dishes.. great prices and big portions!
The taste is good and the price is reasonable. The fried chicken river is delicious.
classic HK style dishes in an unfussy room with quick service
Food - 5/5, authentic delicious HK food. Service 2-3/5 it s very slow. Maybe they need to hire more chefs or more waitstaff: they took so long to get food (or even tea) on the table. Don t go here if you re super hungry or you ll be waiting a long time. Fine if you re going for a snack/not super hungry and down to chill for a bit. Otherwise, try House of Gourmet down the street for their 3-5pm tea This place has great food but it takes forever to get the food. If you re ordering from ubereats, order way ahead and try avoiding ordering during peak times
poor experience
Sizzlig sirloin steak, lamb rack, curry chicken and club sandwich are some of the best
Ive walked by this cafe for years and finally took my mom for lunch on a rainy day. My mom is from Hong Kong and was at first not sure about the menu offerings, but was sold once we got our order of the steak set lunch and her treat, the French toast. The set lunch came with a choice of soup (we chose Chinese, which came with ginseng) and was a nice cut of steak considering the reasonable price. She loved the toast - it was hot, crisp and fresh, and the toast sandwiched a peanut filling that gave it a wonderful crunch and nuttiness. The hostess was very friendly, apologetic about our wait, and despite being very busy, took time to receive our (super positive) feedback. My mom told her wed be back to try the rest of the menu. Hong Kong these days feels even further away than it already is, so we appreciate having a place to get a little taste of it.
The water is smelly, the milk tea is not smooth, the food is served very slowly, the beef grains are very salty, the beef noodles are grilled without a wok, and the price is between $$-$$$
Food is pretty far from okay. Used to be good back in the 90s.
Ordered spaghetti with beef, absolutely no flavour, regretted!!. Not worth the money
Decent good. Great portion. Do pack if you can t finish. Cash and debit only. First time getting asked if I wanna tip after payment. Little awkward but service was good so I did leave some cash tip after Do try out the place
Rencently tried this HK style cafe, expected taste and portion. I would say it is hk style but not completely 100% authentic. Its ok. Not a probelm and it worth to come by. Price on a bit high side tho
They have got a great traditional Yang-chow fried rice !
Baked Porkchop Rice - It seems like the most unassuming dishes are the ones packed with the most flavour, hidden away in this platter of pure bliss, are only a handful of ingredients. First is the fried rice that has absorbed the aromatic fragrances of the wok and eggs, creating a delicious base for the tangy tomato sauce to soak into along with the pork. The porkchop is breaded and fried, letting it absorb even more sauce and adding even more umami flavour to it with the addition of the mushrooms. Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts!
Good food, I recommend
One of the best Hong Kong style cafe, foods and services, by far the best in downtown area. Been visiting this place for over 5 years. They just never fail me.
I love the service here and have been coming here for over a decade now. They have rotating menu specials that are worth every penny;comes with a drink, soup and a meal! Give this place a shot when you have the chance, youll love the food for and good people!
Zomg I didnt know you can get the sauce from the Spanish omelette... Im gonna request that sauce on everything now TYVM!!! I had the Spanish sauce on the pork chop with spaghetti, it even came with all the veggies too, and just as spicy! Very yum!
Very diligent waitress who works hard to please. The Hainan style chicken may not be the most authentic but still very good. Daily specials are cheaper than other restaurants in the neighborhood. Nice and quiet dining room.
Terrible wait time (over 35 mins) and the food is not worth the wait. If you are a tourist avoid this place! They served the locals as their priority and obviously put our order at last (at least 3 tables who came and ordered after us got their food during our wait time)
My friend introduced me to this last year. She told me this is the best hk style restaurant the city has to offer. Tried it and gotta admit its the best Chinese food Ive ever eaten! Huge big portions at the right price, great customer service! I usually order the assorted steak and boy it does not disappoint everytime I eat it! Absolutely will come back o a weekly basis!
Got this baked pork chop and tomato thing and it was surprisingly FIRE!
I love this place and am always bringing people to try this spot. My partner and I are big fans of the curry beef brisket, tomato pork chop rice and their lemon iced tea (ask for less sweet if you re not a big sugary drinks person). Highly recommend and let Chris (the gentleman who makes the drinks and runs the payment counter) that we sent you.
A really solid place. Slightly pricy but good food. #98 Macau style baked chicken 5/5 #51 Grilled Sirloin Steak 3.5/5 #2 Clam chowder 3/5 #333 Lemon&Honey 5/5
Just come here for the service, the woman here is the most lovely woman ever. There is definitely a language barrier but she is extremely patient and so sweet. Food being great just adds on top of the spectacular service. Dietary restrictions: I have an allergy to nuts and they were very accommodating.
Delicious Hainanese Chicken, just missing an accompanying soup! Good service as well!
Really quite tasty food. The staff are all very nice.
I genuinely cannot say enough good things about this place. Been coming here for years and it is without a hint of exaggeration one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. I ve never had a dish that wasn t good or a visit where the service was anything other than polite, warm, and effectual. Menu-wise I have a soft spot for the iced HK milk tea, hainan chicken rice, baked pork chops with various sauces, and condensed milk toast, but 5/5 is not enough to convey how much I enjoy coming here. Prices are reasonable, portions are quite sufficient, food is hot and fresh. Notes: up a small flight of stairs therefore not accessible, and they take cash and debit only. Wheelchair accessibility: Upstairs, not accessible.
One of our favourite traditional Hong Kong restaurants! Portions are huge and reasonably priced. Love the Hainan Chicken - super soft and flavourful; the steak combo - comes with soup, drink and the main- very tasty! You can t go wrong with any dish here! Only cash and debit accepted here.
Great food and service! Pork chops in tomato sauce is a must.
Came for dinner and have come back again many times! Portions are huge for a good price! Servers are also sooo sweet. I love visiting! Vegetarian options: Yes! Dietary restrictions: accommodating to allergies Kid-friendliness: Saw lots of families Wheelchair accessibility: No- have to go up stairs to access
Convenient downtown location for hongkong style cafe quick meals with friendly faces to serve you! Food tasty and nostalgic.
This place might seem like any other Hong Kong style cafes, but the taste really stands out. The plates are generous and flavourful. The decor is simple, but it is very well compensated by the friendly service and vintage/cozy feel. I love coming here and will be surely back !
A Hong Kong Cafe near Chinatown. Located on the second floor, Hong Kong Bistro is pretty known for its Hong Kong menu and hits home with its taste and offerings. Their daily offerings or special meals are written in chalk on the blackboard. You can get their menu online via a QR code or their physical menu. We ordered their beef brisket with rice noodles, pork chop with sauce on rice, baked tomato ox tongue, spaghetti bolognese, and Hong Kong milk tea. Tastes like authentic Hong Kong dishes. Food quality is good and worth the value! Staff speak both English and Cantonese. You can pay via debit or cash and can split bills at the cashiers desk. They offer free wifi here as well.
Safe choice.
A very delicious Hong Kong style tea restaurant! All the store employees are very friendly! Since I need to do some photography work, I specially discussed it with the boss lady. She was very enthusiastic and repeatedly told me to do it slowly and not to rush ~ I am so happy ~ ~ and it is delicious and not expensive! The portion is super big! I love it so much! ! ! I will definitely come again next time! And I will introduce this store to all my friends~
I am a regular customer here, there food is not extremely good, but is perfect as a Hong Kong Style cafe, it taste exactly like Hong Kong local fast food. So dont expect top quality food, thats why I would come for lunch special, but wont recommend to eat to meals at regular price.
Ive tried various dishes here and none of them disappoint me, they are all good and reasonably priced!! Although its kinda understaffed, all staffs are friendly and it doesnt take too long to get a dish ready. Highly recommend!
The club sandwich is amazing here!! But be warned it is not available during busy times (lunch rush or weekends) also it may take 40 mins for it to be made. My partner always gets the peppercorn sauce chicken. This family run business has been around for a long time, the son and daughter work the front of house while the parents are working in the kitchen.
Wow They charged me $20 for a baked chicken on rice with curry sauce LOL Nice price gouging Definitely never coming back
This feels no different from any typical Cha Chaan Teng you can find in Hong Kong.
I ve been to a lot of HK cafés across Toronto. Rarely do I leave a review for these types of restaurants but this place stood out to me because the Staff were so friendly! The food was great too and portion sizes were pretty big.
Very nice restaurant with the real Hong Kong taste of food !!!! I missed it as I used to live in Hong Kong before The waitress was so friendly !
Had the beef brisket soup and it was quite delicious. Broth was clean, vibrant and fresh while the beef and the gai lan added a nice clash of flavor. All around, just a solid bowl of soup and at a very reasonable price too. Service was attentive / nice and the food came out very quickly. Overall, great experience for what it is.
Been here twice, love the food, very authentic hong kong food. The two ladies waitresses are very nice and friendly. However the guy(at the cashier/bar) is kinda rude, we know he could speak Cantonese so we spoke Cantonese to him, and he spoke to us in English, which is totally fine! The problem is, after we finished our meal and drinks, he came to us and spoke in Cantonese, Chat next time, many people are waiting outside His tone was very rude and annoying, and forced us to leave. Each main dish is around $20, without drinks. We order two main dishes and two drinks, of course we wanted to enjoy the food and relax a bit. I don t think anyone could leave right after they finish the meal. Also, we only spent less than 10 minutes after we finished everything and I still have some drinks left. If you open a restaurant and expect everyone to leave right after they finish the food, maybe you should open a takeaway restaurant. If you asked us to leave politely, we are willing to do so. But we waited 30 minutes for the food, even the drinks are later than the food, and you forced us to leave immediately after we had our meal, this is unacceptable. Even the food is pretty good, we might not come back again.
The lady wearing round glasses were so so SO friendly and welcoming. I love her. She treated us so well with smile! The food was good, I found the meat to be a bit greasy, but liked the rice. A good staple restaurant!
Easy to miss spot with great service & food in Chinatown. The hainanese chicken rice here was the best Ive had in awhile!
Your classic HK cafe style, food here is fantastic. Really great value lunch specials for $14.95 plus tax that comes with a drink and a soup. The three options we had to choose from were a pork chop in garlic sauce with rice, curry beef brisket, and chicken with cream sauce. Each person at our table tried one and we all left full and happy! Service here is nice but mostly just understaffed because it is one nice lady doing most of the serving while the guy makes the drinks and works the counter. Atmosphere is okay. Overall worth it for the food though!
Sure enough, it is the renovation of the Upstairs Restaurant in New Hong Kong VG When I came here to open it, it was so delicious and delicious!
As their name suggested - this place definitely made me felt like I was back in Hong Kong. The menu is quite expansive, food is tasty, very helpful and friendly staff, affordable price - just a solid Hong Kong style restaurant! Note that the it s on the second floor though and the entrance is somewhat hidden, so you have to pay extra attention when searching for it
good
Hygiene is really bad! I had diarrhea for a week after eating from his house
Great food, HK style menus. Love the fries and gravy.
One of my favourite hidden gems in Toronto. Always order the baked spaghetti and am never disappointed. Quality is great, large sizes and selection; price is fair too.
Cant believe I havent discovered this cozy diner sooner! The food here is amazing and on par with the top cafes in Toronto. Loved the beef briskets on rice.
Unbelievably delicious, INSANE portions, and the waiters were so incredibly nice. This is located on the second floor. I ve lived in this area my entire life and have never found this hidden gem until today. The menu is HUGE and from what I can tell, every dish is just absolute perfection. It s so rare to find a HK cafe with such unique personality that exudes from their dishes. The pasta was perfectly al dente, pork chops crispy with the most tender meat inside. The sauce was sweet and savoury, almost delicate if I may be so bold to say, and I didn t have trouble trying to mix the pasta and sauce with the top layer like many other places. Onions and tomatoes were just divine. I m in awe of this place.
Theyve been around for a while, and quality have not decreased. Still solid HK cafe food for fair price.
Food is alright but a bit pricey. Would say its more authentic compared to other Hong Kong restaurants downtown.
LARGE portions. Decent hong kong food
I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious (and super well-priced) and the service is fantastic! The people who work there are super friendly and welcoming. I got the hainan chicken and rice (which was amazing), the spicy fried calamari, and hong long milk tea all for $38. They even gave us free soup. I d definitely recommend this place if you re looking for delicious, no-fuss, fairly priced food!
The waitress called me lang jai
Authentic Hong Kong tea restaurant experience.
Incredible services, the lady was very friendly and nice. The food has huge portion, and authentic too! I would definitely come back soon!
Just like eating in HK! But better!
Been here for many years. Good as always.
The value for the price is absolutely unbeatable. The portions are huge and it s not expensive. Definitely worth the money! Will come again.
The best restaurant in Toronto I really like it
You dont eat here for the atmosphere, but you do for taste, sppef and overall value. That said this place is top in all 3 categories.
Food selection, quality, and portion are all amazing. Granted, the prices have increased a lot since the pandemic, but it is still a lot more affordable than the other places, especially the steak! With the sides, its enough for two meals. Have also tried the Macau style chicken and its great as well. The ambiance is down-to-earth and great for conversations; the server is friendly. They seem to be understaffed so budget a bit more time.
Beef steak and chick fillet were both great! Recommend! Will come back again!
Always go there during weekends for a nice lunch, ordered their regular menu items for several times, quite large portion, around 20-30 dollars per dish; recently focused on their lunch special, for a price of 12.5 you will get a small portion of soup (3 options), one main dish (3 options) and one coffee or hong kong style milk tea. Well for the lunch special, your main dish will definitely be a much smaller portion and really depends on what they offer on that day and your choice, because sometimes, for example today I ordered stewed lamb with tofu skin, well there s no much lamb in it and there are just tons and tons of small bones, but for a price of 12.5 it s hard to say it s bad but also I cannot say it s good because of, you know, mouthful of bones lol. But sometimes there s like beef stew with radish which, still small portion, but definitely more satisfying than the lamb stew today. So if you want to save like 10-15 dollars plus you want to have a pretty decent hk milk tea then just order their lunch special, otherwise just scan the QR code on the table and order the regular menu, I don t think you will go wrong with the items on the regular menu, especially love their curry beef tongue or tomato beef tongue, decent flavor. Also remember bring cash or debit card, they either don t accept payment with credit card or they will charge you more which is totally not worth it. Also the default tips start at 15% and if you give less you may get questioned by the unhappy owner.
Massive portions, lots of variety! Loved it! Would come back again!
Great selection of dishes with high quality service even later at night!
This is one of my go-tos in Chinatown. Really enjoy the efficient service and the tasty meal combos.
