1063 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M6H 1M5, Canada
Casual eatery serving cheeky cocktails alongside local favorites with a contemporary twist from Mumbai and across India.
I tried Triple Schezwan Fried Rice. Felt pretty tasteless although the quantity was good. Ginger was too strong in the dish. The ambience and service was great. They offer 10% off if you pay in cash so Carr y cash with you
So we tried the Surmai Fish Thali and my friend ordered the Chicken Thali. All I would say it's a must try for all the Mumbaikars out there who miss the authentic seafood. The best part about the thali was the portion size, the size of the Surmai fry was really good. It consisted of 3 curries- shrimp , fish and Tisrya Masala(clams). All the three had its own different flavour and tasted just as authentic as the Malvani cuisine we get in Mumbai. I was craving this thali so much it reminded me of my home. The Chicken thali had 3 curries as well. The Chicken Sukha is to die for. My friend was actually trying this cuisine for the first time and with every bite we both were like Oh My God this is so good. We also ordered Shrimp and Pomfret Fry on the side. Both were outstanding, again the size of the Pomfret was worth the price you pay. The service was excellent, If you are a seafood lover you should definitely go try. I am going again for sure. Thanks to the team for this amazing meal and service our hearts were full.
The food was expected more. I ordered tandoori and panipuri was not too good. It was very sweet and the bunny was very cold and no onions only they stuffed into Aloo potato and Vada Pao was the bread was not soft. It was very hard to eat and the Babaji was OK.
One of our favourite Indian fusion places. The atmosphere is very cozy and inviting, perfect for a date night or hanging out with friends. The butter chicken Mac and cheese and mumbaikat special tacos were fantastic. The staff is also very polite. Overall, the service and food were good
Great Indian food! I was actually recommended to this spot by an Indian friend. There is a cash discount. We got the samosas, pani puri, paneer Tikka masala, malvani sukka, and one more curry plus plain naan, and some cocktails. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially the curries. The only thing was that the malvani sukka had an interesting texture. The restaurant is clean and the servers were friendly and helpful since we had questions. The vibe is casual but nicely decorated. Washrooms are downstairs.
Love the mumbai Street Food dishes here. They have the authentic bombay vadapav and misal pav. The vada pav is crispy, hot, and delicious, and the misal pav is the best in Toronto. Bhaji pav was a bit disappointing for me. The paneer tacos were good, too. I didn't like the sandwich, though. Their triple schezwan fried rice were tasty and in a great quantity. The staff was very responsive. Also liked the vibe of this place, good to visit with friends and family. Just a suggestion, they can improve the quality of their pav.
This restaurant had a decent amount of decor. It wasn’t too busy and we were able to get a last minute reservation. We came as a group of 4 and ordered these: Virgin Mojlto: Friend said it’s good Mango Bite: It was like a mango slushy, I could taste the mango liqueur (wasn’t strong though) Pav Bhaji: This was slightly spicy and came with two mini hamburger buns Samosa: This was good with the red sauce Malvani Sukka with Chicken: This was sweet and savoury Pani Puri: This was pretty good in taste and look wise it was aesthetic Plain Naan: We made 2 orders to share between 4. It was a good amount but you have to pay extra for garlic or even butter for the naan Tikka Masala Curry w/ Paneer: The sauce was okay and the paneer was pretty cheesy. I think I prefer chicken or beef instead. Overall, the food was okay. It was quite filling and we had leftovers. However I was pretty bloated and had a bit of a stomach ache the next day. The washroom is in the basement (not accessible friendly) and there is a bit of a smell when I got downstairs.
The food here is the closest you'll get to authentic Mumbai cuisine—it's incredibly tasty. The restaurant's ambiance evokes nostalgic memories of Mumbai. The staff is also very polite. Overall, the service and food are amazing.
To much bad sarvice
If you re looking for spicy authentic Indian food (not white people spicy) this is really good. If you re looking for a good experience, this is okish because they don t even offer water when you come in or refill glasses. Service can be better.
Trust the recent reviews, this place is hot trash. The food has not been curated to provide with a tasteful experience rather it s a hogwash of random spices with meat in it (at least for the mutton thali). Avoid and save money ton of other better Indian food options available in the city
Great food! Great service! Highly recommended Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options Food : 5/5 |
Worst food ever Would have given 0 stars If you can t deliver food stop the thing Don t waste our money Stale food, bad presentation and a huge difference when eaten in the restaurant and ordered online
The food is extremely delicious here and amazing customer service.
Big shout-out and heartfelt thanks to the Mumbaikar team for working so hard during Diwali, even while being away from their own homes. They didn t miss a beat and served up amazing Thalis that tasted just like home. We re so glad we chose to celebrate our Diwali with them - it was the perfect decision. Keep up the great work and keep those delicious meals coming!
If you want to have Maharashtrian dishes, then Mumbaikar should be your go to place! The taste is very similar to the original dishes!
Ketki was phenomenal! So happy to experience the food today
Ordered triple schezwan from here, and it was so bland. 1 star is what it deserves. Not what a mumbaikar would want. Pass on this place. Tried this place again: If you want food with the cheapest quality of ingredients, this is the place for you!! Ordered again after a friend said, Lets give them another chance: the quality of the rice was the worst thing Ive ever experienced. Cheap, bad quality. Lowest of the lows. I wouldnt give it another try. Take out is worse than dine in. Because of obvious reasons.
Triple Schezwan Fried Rice Is The best thing ever i have ever had. Just loved it
Tired there maharashtrian fish thali and it was same like what we get in mumbai. With clams masala, malvani curry it was simply the best.
Absolutely disappointing. They dont serve fresh food here. You can tell it is frozen. Tastes like food you get from the hot bar of a supermarket (which actually is a better version of whatever is served here).
Nice place to grab some Mumbai/ Indian Food. We got the Panipuri, Misal Pav and Phav Bhaji and all tasted good. Vegetarian options: Yes- loads
The food was worst and pathetic The person who served the food had an attitude as if she owns the restaurant The way she behaves I have no ducking clue why they even have her there She said she will get back about the update on the food And she literally looked and ignored till we dint leave Plus she dint even get the containers She on top of that dint even come back even after asking for the containers On top she was gossiping with her manager that what I asked was such a big deal I won t suggest this mumbaikar But the other place the server and the food both are much better. Explore the younge street it s way much better Even look at their poor quantity The timings on google and restaurant menu are also messed up. Vegetarian options: The paneer is under cooked The naan is not cheesy Nor the gravy was cooked
Had a great time there . Food was perfect. Atmosphere was amazing. Staff are well trained. Ketki was serving me today. She recommended chicken lollipop and vada pav . It was tasty. Took me back to Mumbai for a while
Ordered Mutton masala with rice - the curry is very extremely oily, like floating in oil. It is a bit salty too. Though the meat is soft and overall somewhat tasty, the amount of oil is dangerous and Im not going to order it again.
Being a Hyderabadi it was tough to find good vada pav !! 10/10 for vada pav and 10 points for misal pav as well Worth the hype Yay! Vegetarian options: I just turned temp vegetarian and this is the best so far
We got the Tandoori Momos and Bhel chaat, atmosphere is also vibrant!
Decent food with good vibes and service. If you are missing Mumbai s food, should visit here once
My friend and I visited for my birthday dinner in Mumbaikar restaurant. The service was attentive and friendly. The server was Faran and knowledgeable and made great recommendation, quickly served and friendly. Food was so delicious and fresh. Our verall experience was enjoyable and I would highly recommend to others Mumbaikar and meet frindly staff and have a great experience.
The food was awesome and the service is one of the best ,good quality and good quantity. Recommended dishes - chicken briyani
Amazing food . Loved the attitude of the staff.. Chicken thali is a must try Food : 4/5
Went to dinner last night and the Food was nice ,Authentic and fresh, Ambience is okay But service was bad and the Server was clueless and didnt have any knowledge of menu And it wasnt even that busy but she was in rush
I ordered the Surmai Fish Thali, which the menu described as including a fish appetizer, fish curry, and a non-veg curry. What I actually received was really disappointing. I got a Surmai fish fry as the appetizer fine, but instead of fish curry, they served shrimp curry, and instead of a non-veg curry, I got a half egg curry. I felt misled by the menu. When I brought this up, the chef insisted this is how they serve the thali. Seriously? Shrimp curry in a fish thali and no fish curry in fish thali??? (Where they have separate Shrimp Thali in the menu) It felt like they were fooling customers. Me being hardcore Konkan Fish Lover, this was unacceptable. Plus, the whole thali was a waste the food wasn t fresh, and the Surmai fish wasn t fresh either. I don t like to put out Marathi People down but Mumbaikar, your food quality is no longer worth it.
Amazing food, and the presentation was so good so neat and clean. The servers was very friendly.
Worst hospitality need to improve how to run restaurant
Rude staff!
Very bad service as well as customer service ...0/10
As a Mumbaikar, hakka chinese noodles was just plain noodles with 3-4 chicken pieces and some veggies and size of the vadapav was way too small Total disappointment Maybe the owner is not from Mumbai Food : 2/5
Best food and service Best taste of typical and authentic Mumbai s Vada pav We had triple sezwan rice and vada pav it was amazing and staff too was amazing Food : 5/5
The server was very rude , we ordered paneer item and it was sour, we complained but he told us this is what it is and started yelling
One of the best foods I have tried in my life . The staff is very friendly !!!. Surely comming again . Must try vadda pav, chicken lollipop and the pistachio dessert. Food : 5/5
Amazing food!
Great ambiance and authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. My go-to spot for a satisfying meal!
Warm ambiance paired with genuine Maharashtrian flavors this place never disappoints!
The restaurant was very busy, and there was only one server. We waited for 15 minutes just to place an order, and then had to wait another 15 minutes to get the bill. We had to remind the server multiple times. It wasnt her fault; I think the owner should hire more servers. It was a busy Sunday night, and although the server was doing a good job, we still didn t like that our time was wasted.
Very disappointed, I asked no spicy toddler food, they gave very spicy Mac and cheese to my son I had pav Bhaji which is also not tasty at all Food
Such a cool concept and as a person from Mumbai, I really wanted to root for them. I have been here multiple times and quality seems to be declining. Prices do not match the quality. Pista tresleche is dried sponge with canned whip cream. I couldn t eat more than one spoon, had to send it back. The server was kind enough to remove it from the bill. The pav we got was not fresh. $3.99 for 2 chapatis? Come on . The masala chai was bitter and had no masala in it. Sabudana vada is tasty. Ambience - The restaurant was playing one type of music in dining area and blasting different music in the kitchen. Quite distracting! Restaurant looks clean but washrooms not so much. Floors are sticky, men s toilet dirty and no hand soap. Servers not attentive - We got there around 9pm and we were the only table at that time but still I had to call server every single time I wanted to order. They never checked to see if we needed to order anything. Overall, disappointing experience. I really wanted to support and like this restaurant. Third and last visit.
Went to Mumbaikar about a year ago and had a good experience but it seems to have dramatically declined. The value of the food is not there ($4 for two small chapati!!!), portions are so skimpy: only two small pav come with the keema or missal pav and you have to order a side pav just to finish your dish, tons of gravy and barely any meat in the mutton sukka which only comes with the curry, no rice or chapati, or side included ($20). Pistachio tres leches was terrible with spray whipped cream and bright green fake pistachio and the chai tasted like it had no masala. Except for the dessert, the flavour of the food was good and honestly I could ve potentially gotten over the questionable portions if the service wasn t terrible. We (2 people) were the only table in the whole restaurant and they kept us waiting to order, for the bill, and never checked on us once. Very upsetting as we love Mumbai cuisine and this place has so much potential to be a delicious and unique addition to the Toronto food scene.
Visited this place on Saturday afternoon for lunch with my diverse co workers Everything was really good Service was great too My friends loved it Kitki was very helpful and suggested few dishes to my friends also explained them in detail about it Vada pav was very authentic Curries were delicious Compliments to the chef and the team
Mumbaikar Restaurant impresses with its rich, aromatic dishes and inviting atmosphere. The staff is attentive, and the service is quick without compromising quality. From the tangy chaat to the savory kebabs, it s a place worth visiting for genuine Indian flavors.
This place has a unique menu with a lot of interesting dishes besides the usual rice and meat curries. (Dont get me wrong, I love rice and meat curries, but its nice to try something new!) The pakoras were some of the best I have had. Did you know that Mumbai Tacos were a thing? Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options
I recently tried the Vada Pav at Mumbaikar, and it was a delightful experience. The vada was perfectly spiced, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Would definitely visit again.
I recently tried the Misal Pav at Mumbaikar, and it was an absolute treat. The misal had a perfect balance of spicy and tangy flavors, with a rich, flavorful gravy made from sprouted beans and a medley of spices. The pav was fresh and soft, ideal for soaking up the delicious misal. The dish was beautifully garnished with crispy farsan, onions, and a dash of lemon, adding layers of texture and freshness.
The Pani Puri at Mumbaikar is a burst of tangy and spicy flavors, perfectly balanced with crisp puris and refreshing mint water. A must-try for any street food lover craving an authentic Mumbai experience!
Mumbaikar Restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience with its authentic Indian cuisine, warm ambiance, and attentive service. The décor is a delightful blend of modern elegance and traditional elements, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Highlights of my meal included the signature tacos , chicken lollipop , and the Faluda was a refreshing complement to the bold flavors, and the Masala chaas provided a bitter , satisfying conclusion. Mumbaikar excels in every aspect, making it a standout choice for those seeking a memorable taste of Mumbais culinary heritage. Highly recommended. My momma is in town.. she loveeee the food and especially the Indian Taste.
We ordered Pav bhaji and malai chicken tikka. Chicken was very hard and flavour less and Pav bhaji - Bhaji was good but for cooked pav you have to pay extra otherwise they served raw pav. Never seen pav bhaji with raw pav, A thela vendor serve pav bhaji with grilled or roasted pav. It was first and last visit.
The place is an amazing amalgamation of flavours, vibe and good company ! Everything we ordered was just on point in terms of flavours and textures. From Ragda Pattice to Solkadhi. The best place for Mumbai food in Toronto . And the kingfisher beer was cherry on top.
I had an amazing dining experience at MumbaiKar! The food was exceptional and truly brought the flavors of Mumbai to Toronto. We tried the misal paav and the Bombay sandwich, both of which were fantastic. The misal paav was spicy and flavorful, with just the right amount of heat, while the Bombay sandwich was deliciously satisfying, packed with fresh ingredients and a perfect blend of spices. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great experience. I highly recommend Mumbai Kar to anyone craving authentic Mumbai street food. 100% satisfied!!!
Mumbaikar offers the best Mumbai/Maharashtrain food in Canada! Their triple rice, ghee toast, and vada pav are must-tries. Thanks to the team for bringing their A-game to the food industry and making this Mumbaikar proud.
Oh boy, what a place to satisfy your wada pav and sabudana wada cravings. Food is authentic and the service is fast. We tried wada pav, sabudana wada, chai, pav Bhaji and everything was amazing! Totally worth every penny
We ordered the misal pav, chilli chicken, chicken tikka naan and pistachio tres leches. The misal had about a teaspoon of pulses but was decent. The chilli chicken was overcooked and rubbery. The naan was uncooked in places and lacked any resemblance of chicken tikka. The tres leches was the most disappointing. The cake was stale and dry. It was loaded with whipped cream to cover up the dryness. To add to this, the toilets were clogged and unusable. Very disappointing visit and don t think will be coming back
Tooooooooo greeeeesy.. super oily food..
Unprofessional waiting staff. Zero etiquettes. All the while we were in the restaurent the 2 waitress kept talk loudly in marathi as if they are in local train. Ordered toast sandwich. It was tasteless. Ordered keema pav, the pav was dead cold, I guess directly served from the refrigerator. Either the owner is too busy to notice these things or in the wrong line of business.
Very good staff !
Coming from Mumbai, I really crave for Mumbai Street food. And hands down it is this best Mumbai street food place in the town. Their food is just on point flavor wise. Pav bhaji and Vada pav is a must try. The portion of the food served is decent and to share with friends and family. The service was extremely good. The server, Ketki was very was very sweet and generous. Overall, it is a 10/10. Would recommend everyone to go visit.
Nice Cozy Place On Bloor Street, They Serve Authentic East Indian Cuisine Including Mumbai (Bombay) Street Food. We Had The Coconut Shrimp Curry And Bread Buns With Mince Meat & Peas. The Food Was Good, The Service Was Quick And The Ambience Was Good.
Visited the restaurant today for Independence Day offers. We ordered Chicken lollipop, Chicken Thali, Misal Pav, Kokum Sherbet and Maka Beer. The food and drinks were excellent except for the Misal Pav which was a little watery for my liking. The Rasmalai which was a part of the Thali was the best one we ever had in Toronto and reminded us of the local Mithai Shop.
Vegetarian options: It s not worth of price , we really had great expectations but we re so disappointed. Compare to taste it wasn t worth of our money . Food
The food is delicious and different, I loved it!! I will come back again!! And the margaritas are amazing!!! A 100 out of 10!!
The Best Mumbai Style Food In Toronto.
Mumbaikar offers a warm, inviting atmosphere with attentive staff. The menu is diverse, and the food is fresh and flavourful, I highly recommend the Vada pao and pani puri :)
The taste was not that great. We ordered a few things, out of all the Karwari Jhinga was amazing. Bombay toast sandwich was very bland and had no taste in it (picture attached). The masala fries were uncooked. The pav in Dabeli and Vada pav was not fresh and very chewy. But, the customer service was good
If you miss mumbai food or Maharashtrian style of food please visit this place. Absolutely worth it. I ve been eating from here for about 2 years here and cant stop! Excellent food!!
Overhyped. Below average food with a lot of food colouring. 2 days and I m still trying to wash it off. Great customer service though. Good customer service though. Food : 2/5
The sea food thali was amazing just gave feel like mumbai, the staff was not there for good amount of time, but i can understand because i was there at 6PM. But the food was good, also had misal pav but it was okish!
Sabudana wada and pulao was very good Vegetarian options: Good variety for vegetarian food Food : 5/5 |
Absolutelyyyyyyy loved their misal pav! The flavors were outstanding. The Vada Pav was okayish still way better than other places and the sabudana Vada was amazing too.Highly recommended if youre looking for that typical Maharashtrian spice in Toronto.
Vada Pav and Chicken Lollipop were awesome would recommend this place
Need to update this since the food quality has degraded a lot. Been there a couple of times over the period of last 2 months and the food no longer tastes the same which is very sad as they had delicious food. The service however, is still great!!! Will be cautious going here again. Placed a party order for 15 people last minute on the call and Suraj was there to our rescue. The food was mind blowing, everyone was drooling over the biryani and the entire order was super budget friendly. I couldnt be more thankful to the team for accommodating our order. If you or anyone you know is having a party and need catering for Indian food, this is the place!!!
Ordered Kothimbir wadi as it was on buy one get one free offer on June 28th. It was so bad that unable to have a single piece. The taste was no close to Kothimbir wadi. The colour looked like a dark brownie. My family always order from Mumbaikar and we we like their pav wasa and misal pav. But whenever ordered buy one get one free food items , always pathetic and seemed that the left overs are kept in offer. This happened for the third time so this time thought of writing the review.
Amazing food, go to place for Mumbai style vada pav and Missal Pav. Also the only place where you will give the og Pav like in mumbai
If you re a true Mumbaikars and missing mumbai, this is the spot for you guys!! Authentic mumbai ka khana!! One of the favourite restaurants in the city.
Awesome Indian food. Very cozy vibe with Bollywood songs in the background.
Amazing food, you should try Mishal paav.
We ordered chicken lollipop and vegetable Hakka fried rice. While the chicken lollipop was satisfactory, we found the vegetable Hakka fried rice to be excessively filled with an overwhelming amount of green peas, to the exclusion of other vegetables typically expected in Hakka fried rice such as cabbage, capsicum, and carrot. This deviation from the traditional preparation was unexpected, particularly given our familiarity with Hakka cuisine. When we inquired, we were informed that green peas are the sole vegetable used in their version of Hakka fried rice. This departure from the standard recipe, which typically includes a variety of vegetables, was surprising and not in line with our expectations based on our understanding of Hakka cuisine.
My experience at Mumbaikar Restaurant was delightful from start to finish. I had heard great things about their Misal Pav, and I must say, it exceeded expectations. The perfect blend of spices and authentic flavors made each bite truly memorable. I also tried their Pomfret Fry, and it was phenomenal incredibly crisp with just the right amount of filling. Its a must-try for anyone visiting. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, creating a comfortable dining atmosphere. What really stood out was the owner/Manager , who was the sweetest person. Their warmth and hospitality added a personal touch to the entire experience. Overall, Mumbaikar Restaurant offers not just delicious food but also exceptional service and a welcoming environment. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to savor authentic Mumbai flavors in a friendly setting. P.S.: Travelled all the way from Kitchener to Toronto (heard so much about Mumbaikar).
3.5/5 Tried multiple things here like Kheema pav, Vada Pav, Dabeli, Triple Schezwan fried rice. Taste is not that great nor is the service. Decent dining experience. The quality of food didn t feel worth the prices. Food
Great experience, outstanding food! Definite must try!
Amazing street food. Reminds me of Mumbai every time I went there.
Vada pav as close to Bombay, not Exactly like it, but yes enjoyable! Dry red chutney powder & green chutney were great However, Pav bhaji spoilt our entire taste bud ! HOW CAN ONE go SO WRONG for a PAV BHAJI dude The taste was zero, Tasted liked boiled veggies With no salt Pav bhaji masala didn t exist No garlic, no tomato The order was taken back & we replaced with 2nd vada pav Hopelessly returned home hungry I did NOT expect THIS from a placed named Mumbaikar Please please don t disappoint us with Pav bhaji..!! It s like playing with our emotions Service - we had to call someone to order , exactly like other people have written for review
I recently visited Mumbaikar at Bloor, and tried several dishes: Vada Pao: Disappointing. The buns were not soft, and you can find much better versions elsewhere. Pav Bhaji: Also not up to par. The buns were undercooked, detracting from the overall dish. Veg Thali: The standout of my meal. The thali was flavorful, with delicious gulab jamun and tasty tadka dal that made it enjoyable. Tandoori Veg Momos: Good. These came with a flavorful green chutney that complemented the momos well. Overall, while the Veg Thali and Tandoori Veg Momos were enjoyable, the Vada Pao and Pav Bhaji did not meet expectations.
I want to try Indian restaurants because of the new population increase. Its rare that I find places that are inviting enough. This location was empty around 1 pm, do it was perfect to try its authenticity. I ordered apps as onion bhaji (fritters) and chicken Biryani. Host advised it would take 10-15 mins after I asked if things were ready. Bhaji did come out quick, but I could tell it was refried. Having said that, the mix and flavours with the side chutneys provided made it hit the spot for someone that has had a craving for onion bhaji for a while. Chicken Biryani had alot of flavour, but the reheating process had burned bits of the chicken, and I did notice a masala mix of meat (possibly of beef) to add to the rice flavour, especially since I was the first customer, house chef may have tired to enhance flavour by adding a meat pre made Biryani masala..just make sure you ask the host to not have this done incase you only eat chicken as meat. Otherwise service was good, good enough to order on Uber eats if you want a hit of modern twist of what someone would call food from Mumbai. Id be back to try the veggie options, those are what truly tell the skill of the chef! Especially in Indian cooking, esp Mumbai versions. I liked the variety of music too, maybe lower the volume, host was humble towards the chef too, but may want to ask the ingredients in the items served. So that when random foodies like me ask specifics you are prepared. Note: the reason I ordered the items I did, was because a true test of an Mumbai restaurant is the tikka masala, and butter chicken. Neither of those items were prepared. So if you want those types of dishes maybe go later in the day.
I had ordered their Misal Pav with moderate spice level and it was really good!
Thank you Mumbaikar for amazing chicken thali we really liked each bite we had, staff had one girl she was very welcoming and professional, great location and service. Just one improvement in cleanliness near washroom area as we went for hand wash use washroom we found few insects and cockroaches near to the stairs and inside the washroom which makes guests a bit uneasy maybe leaving a bit bad impression for such a good place where we spend up eating.
Had Dabeli. It was really disappointing. Having Mumbaikar name raises expectation of such signature street food items.
Tried the Triple Schezwan rice, pav bhaji and vada pav. Food reminded me of Amchi Mumbai
Worst experience we had .. 1. Only one person from staff was there attending all the customers - taking orders, serving food, proving to go boxes, bill etc (poor girl) server was very sweet but did feel bad for her as she had no help 2. Food - we had tandoori momos which was nothing but normal steamed momos with hell lot of spices on top of it - NOT AT ALL TANDOOR ; Chicken curry was okayish, Pav Bhaji did not taste like Pav Bhaji at all - tastes most of jeera powder and garam masala in it ; triple fried rice - combo of rice and noodles was good but the gravy was watery runny and so bad - overall good experience was very bad Firt we ordered Ragda Patties for take out and we requested them to pack the Pattie s and Ragda separate so it won t get soggy by the time we reach home - the girl said she will ask the chef and came out saying they can only pack chutneys separately but Ragda and Patties they will give in same container which made NO SENSE AT ALL - Common just put it in 2 different containers as simple as that Then we had to change the take out order to Tawa Pulao which was good in taste THEN THE WORST THING WE SAW WAS A DEAD COCKROACH ON BATHROOM FLOOR - I was super annoyed looking at that which simply means NO CLEANLINESS - MAKES IT WORST WENT TO THE RESTAURANT READING ALL WONDERFUL REVIEWS AND CAME OUT WITH A HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT HONESTLY CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AFTER THE EXPERIENCE WE HAD
Tried all their Mumbai special items- Vada pav, misal pav, dahi batata puri. Taste exactly like bombay. Great service and ambience. Definitely recommend to all Mumbaikars in Toronto
This place brings back Mumbai Memories.. On my third visit tried there karwari jhinga and must say it was cooked to perfection. Vada Pav here is a must try but I would also recommend trying there chicken vindaloo and garlic naan. I have tried garlic naan at so many places but this is the only place where I get it the way I used to eat it back in Mumbai. A must visit restaurant for all but especially if u are from Mumbai.. Cant wait to go again to try there fish thalis. Kudos to the team for bringing the Mumbai Taste to Canada
The most horrible food I had in a while. The sheer amount of oil used in chicken shezwan noodles can feed three households. Chef needs to look into this.
I have been to this place 4 times since me arrival in Canada 6 months ago, and I absolutely love the food! For anyone wanting to try authentic maharashtrian cuisine or someone who misses home like me , I strongly recommend Mumbaikar! The taste is so close to the one my Aai cooks, be it anything from seafood, chicken or mutton to misal pav! My personal favourite item on their menu is the solkadi and I have to admit it is one of the best Ive had so far. The consistency in the taste of the food speaks of their integrity, be it any location the food will taste equally great! Also the staff is very sociable and the owners are good people! Kudos to you guys and thank you for bringing the taste of Mumbai all the way here! All the best!
If you want to go during summer, please make sure to bring your own fan/AC because they have centralized AC with auto option only. Hopefully they are not doing the same during winters; but I cant take a chance anymore. Hoping one day they have option to order centralized as well so restaurant can run smoothly without doing anything.
Mumbaikar Restaurant captures the vibrant essence of Mumbai, with decor that reflects the citys eclectic mix of culture. The food at Mumbaikar Restaurant is flavourful and authentic Mumbais diverse culinary heritage. The ingredients are fresh, and the dishes are well-prepared and presented. Shout out to their head chef prathmesh Mumbaikar Restaurant is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking authentic Mumbai-style dining. Its lively atmosphere, friendly service, diverse menu, and high-quality food make it a standout option for both locals and visitors.
Tried Misal pao and Vada pao, I think you guys should get a better pao because misal gravy and Vada both were great but pao made whole experience Average!
Ordered Hakka noodles on Uber and got noodles with cut up chicken nuggets on top
I ordered the Special Chicken Biryani from Mumbaikar Indian Restaurant and Bar through Uber Eats, but Im disappointed. The dish lacked not just biryani flavors but there are none. It was mainly rice and meat with very little salt. There were no spices or flavors at all, despite requesting extra spice with chilies. the quantity of food provided was much less than expected for the price paid, feeling insufficient and not good value. Lastly, the packaging was poorly done, with boxes that were not properly packed. As someone who appreciates and cooks authentic Indian cuisine, this experience fell short of my expectations for flavor , quality and quantity. I hope this feedback helps improve the preparation and quantity of dishes at Mumbaikar Indian Restaurant and Bar in the future.
Exceptional flavours, impeccable service, and a delightful ambiance make Mumbaikar a must-visit for Indian cuisine enthusiasts.
One of the most authentic restaurants in Toronto that serve Mumbai style food. Absolutely recommended.
The manager here is absolutely rude , the restaurant was running at full capacity when we walked in and a customer waived at me saying that he is leaving soon and i just gace him a thumbs up , The manager got really angry and shouted at us , never walking in this restaurant again.
Great service by faran and great food
It was amazing dinner last nigt with amazing recommendations by server as we came for nachos but unfortunately it was not available but it was great service. So it was made up
it was great dinner yesterday with great customer service by guy
The place is good ambience wise but I guess it s a bad choice for vegetarians. We ordered triple Schezwan rice and the paneer in it were very chewy and rice was literally undercooked and tasteless. Also ordered thali which was 2/5 and that too for rice dal and roti. Everything else was just not even okayish.
Such a lovely place. Great Food, Best Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, Misal Pav. Triple Rice is too die for Loved there sabudana vada too. Great Service and Worth the money. Highly Recommended. Amazing Experience, Great Cocktails.
After ordering doordash a couple of times and the food being flavorful, decided to dine in. I came with excitement and was extremely disappointed with this place. We went here today at 7:15pm. 5 out of 6 six dishes we asked for, were either unavailable or discontinued. So, instead of using their menu, I went to look at the doordash menu since it should be current. Some of the dishes they claimed discontinued were on there. So, I asked them, What if somebody orders this from doordash. Thats when I found out, they werent discontinued, theyre saving the dishes for future online orders. Went from full of respect and Im gonna be regular to disappointment and disgust.
This place never disappoints. I visited this place this week. Ordered Fish thaali and My friends ordered Chicken kadai. Both of them along with garlic nan were top notch. A must try item is the authentic solkadhi. Neeti and Arya were very cooperative, genuine and gave suggestions which were spot on. A big Thank you to Neeti and Arya. I highly recommend this restaurant. You must definitely visit this one for some authentic Indian food.
Wonderful place for Authentic Misal Pav. I have tried everything on the menu and everything has been impressive. Definitely would recommend this place to every Mumbaikar and Maharastrian.
Time badaoooo baaaki sab first class hai
Being from Mumbai I am a big fan of wada pav & Mumbai style street food. The wada pav here definitely hits the spot & its super tasty. Definitely recommended!!!
Great food, good price and helpful friendly staff. Hard to find fault.
Absolute horrible customer service. No regards for special requests or even customers for that matter.
I ve been here a few times in the past 3 years and it is definitely one of my favourite Mumbai food place! It s in fact one of the very few that serves jackfruit biryani and gravy!!!!!! Recently went here for Mother s Day special thali. They had three variations- veg, chicken and seafood (pomfret). The veg thali had veg kolhapuri, paneer tikka masala, dal fry, rice, roti, salad and AAMRAS! It was yum!y friends liked the pomfret thali too. Even on other occasions, I have thoroughly enjoyed their sabudana vada, pav bhaji and chaats, plus their mocktails too. A must try is their dessert called Pistachio Tres Leches - it melts in your mouth and is absolutely divine! Definitely one of my all time fav places
Loved the chicken sukka
My only favourite restaurant for Maharashtrian food. The flavours are top notch , sincere efforts by the chefs. The food was delicious and the staff is friendly too.
Amazing environment and food
Best wada pav around!!
The guy here named Farhan is lacking customer service They dont even deserve a star tbh. The service is so disappointing. Please i request all the foodies to look somewhere else to eat your food. This place is waste of time and money
Im a huge fan of sea food, it was so delicious! Masala fries were divine! The mango cocktail was good, many options to choose from the menu! Great atmosphere all together and lovely and fast service!
Amazing taste, Classic food, Worth the visit. Surely visiting again Food : 5/5 |
This restaurant is a real gem! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a laid-back meal with friends. The drinks menu has some unique options I especially loved the Chili Ananas cocktail. The food was delicious; the Masala Chicken Lollipop was so good with perfect balance of spice and heat. Then we also had Vada pao and pani puri (reminded me of back home). Goat curry and rice, saved some so I can have for my next meal at home. Prices and the portions are amazing. Friendly staff they made us feel right at home. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that I cant wait to repeat. Highly recommend checking it out!
Had a fabulous experience at Mumbaikar! Great food, superb ambience and great host Arya. She did a fab job in recommending some of their famous dishes! Shout out to Arya from Nagpur
Food was ok!!! Kheema was tooo salty!!!!! Pomfret fry batter felt like it was still raw, Sabudana Cara was really good!!! A lil too pricey!!!!!
EDIT - This restaurant has really gone down in terms of their food as well as service. I visited their location in person to walk in, and they straight up said they don t have a table. They did not ask me to wait, ask how many people were there etc, Apart from that, the quality and taste of their food has deteriorated quite a bit in the past two years while their pricing remains on the higher side. I really want to support Indian businesses and wished them well but they haven t delivered well on multiple occasions in the past year. I m no longer a customer. Older review from 2 years ago - As someone who had spent all my life thus far in Mumbai, I can testify that MUMBAIKAR stays true to its name and serves 100% authentic Mumbai food right here in the core of downtown Toronto. I am writing this review after having ordered take-out on multiple occasions from them and I must say I have never been disappointed. I would highly recommend their Misal Pav and Bombay Biryani if youre craving the sweet (or should I say savoury?) taste of home. If someone is looking to try out Bombay food for the first time, try it from this restaurant at your own risk - you might get addicted lol. Best food, amazing taste, always on time. Keep up the good work! Jai Hind. Jai Maharashtra! :P
Very hyped up for the name. Taste for some items are ok but the Signature dishes are lacking taste seriously..like Vada Pao is served with cold & dry Pao s .No Lasun/ Garlic chutney and not even the fry green chilly Too hyped up Visited twice and both times the experience with food was below PAR
Total waste of time and money. BIG FRAUD. Extremely poor customer service. If it was the only restaurant in the whole of North America, Id stop eating out but Ill never go to this place. Absolutely terrible experience
Food:0/10 Service: -10/10 Mumbaikar, the name is not justified. Mumbai is famous for Vadapav, and they cant even make it properly. You had only one job. Only 5 menu items and cant even make one properly. Editing the review because Google Maps wont allow me to reply to the restaurant. Firstly, I ordered one Vadapav for myself, then ordered 2 more for my friends accompanying me. Later only realized it was not at all worth it. So, I canceled the other 2 orders before they started preparing. I repeated myself several times, and they acknowledged it as well. The vada was not at all warm, and pav itself was cold and dry. Secondly, they charged me $39.78, stating they had already prepared the order explaining they only re-fry the already half fried vada. They dont do anything to the pav. Thats all they do. I respect food and didnt want to throw it out. Therefore, I humbly gave it away to a needy person outside the restaurant. He took a bite and threw it in garbage, complaining that food was stale. Now, how do you expect me to give you a good review? I clearly did NOT FINISH my food right there. You can check the cameras if you have. It was made a takeout by your scamming staff members. They are the ones who forced me to buy the food which they hadnt even prepared. They simply didnt cancel my order just to make money out of it. Thats the most probable reason your restaurant is mostly empty. Only 5 menu items and cant even make one properly.
Best place to have a food. Staff and owners are so friendly. food is so amazing. Food : 5/5
Went here first time, and it was amazing. The food was lovely. Tried the sabudana wada which was a 9/10. Had the Surmai thali. The shrimp curry in the thali reminded me of home. Amazing rice and sol kadhi. Surmai wasn t the freshest, but all in all I d rate the thali 8.5/10. Had the Pomfret fry which was perfectly marinated and fried and was the steal of the day. I d rate it 10/10. Also, had the chance to enjoy the gudi padwa special thali, and the amras and puri was too good. Would definitely recommend all Maharashtrians/Mumbaikars to try it as it will remind you of home. And to everyone out side Mumbai , who want to try Maharashtrian/Mumbai cuisine. Edit: also tried the kokam Sherbet and it s a must try too!
One of the best Gudi Padwa thali I have ever had. Best Matki Usal. Batata bhaji and Aamras was one of the best.
Five-star experience, offering authentic Indian flavors in a cozy ambiance. With attentive staff and delicious food, its a must-visit.
Had the Gudi padwa thali yesterday, it did remind me of Mumbai was so delicious couldnt wait to eat it should have taken a picture, must try !
Visited on gudi padwa, had the special thali there, amazing hospitality and food was delicious, had Durva helping us, great staff! Will visit again
The Gudi Padwa thali was amazing! Each dish was a flavorful delight, truly capturing the essence of the festival.
Wow I like this place due to nice food and service thanks keep on.
I had Gudi Padwa special thali yesterday and it was really good and nostalgic.
Amazing food. Undoubtedly the best sea food in Toronto. I m not a fan on chicken but I couldn t stop eating their chicken lollipop with gravy. Food : 5/5
Mumbaikar is one the best restaurant for maharashtrian food. yesterday I went over there with my friends to eat their special gudi padwa thali and it was fabulous, just like home
Good and best food all over gta
Best indian food all over gta Highly recommended.... Food
We had Gudi Padwa special thali yesterday that taste so good! Really enjoy it! Food
The food was amazing...!! Had gudi padega thali... Loved it !! And it has great hospitality we were assisted by a staff named Durva and she was of great help !!
Only place in Toronto that serves authentic seafood! Brilliant service and very welcoming atmosphere. Absolutely love it.
We ordered Misal pav on Uber delivery and all we got was just the curry with no sprouts or moth beans in it what so ever. It was just filled with oil. This is the second time it has happened. Worst service ever.
Please save your money and don t go here! We have ordered a few times since we live closer to the place, but each time they have disappointed with the quality of the food they deliver. We ordered pav bhaji and vada pav just recently and it was stale and chewy! Please don t waste your money here.
This place literally takes you back to the streets of Mumbai. We went on a Saturday when it was heavily snowing outside so we had difficulty finding a parking spot. We had to park in our friend s building which was about 1 km from this place. But it was all worth the struggle when we had the food. They have maintained the authentic taste of Mumbai street food. We had vada pav and misal pav. Both were amazing and I highly recommend them. Also try their kokum sharbat, it was very refreshing.
Food is always full of so much of oil that you will regret eating from here. Have had fish curry and keema pao. The gravy items have bucket full of oil in them. Their dabeli is a joke. Only the vada paos are okay.
Food is good not the best I would say. Can improve items in menu. Menu is limited. Taste is good
This review is not for food. Since, i got chance to eat at other location once and yes food was good i liked that. But, in this location i tried to dine in thrice. Every time they did not took order. According to them they stop taking order an hour before of closing time. I felt that they more interested on closing other than serving the customer. Three times they deny to take order, i guess not interested in business. Poor customer service.
Came here with bunch of friends. Heard that this is a must try place. Ordered their specials.. Chicken lollipop, Schezwan fried rice, naan. Taste and smell was too good. Worth every dollar spent. Food : 5/5 |
Nestled in the heart of culinary excellence, this Indian gem seamlessly blends exceptional customer service with delectable cuisine. this restaurant is a haven for food enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable dining experience. We were served by Disha, and she was simply amazing, so polite, accommodating and we are definitely visiting again.
Dietary restrictions: Veg and halal options Food
Very delicious Indian pocket saving food with a good ambience and Indian collections was percent medolious. We spent 70 cad including tips for snacks and a main course for 3 people.
We ordered a vada pav which was good. The bombay grilled sandwich was not even grilled and was nothing like a bombay grilled sandwich. It was just a toast sandwich. Servers can tie their hair and carry trays while serving.
I went in for dinner with my family a couple of days ago at Mumbaikar. Disha recommended us to try the thali. I usually do not like getting thalis for dinner as the quality of thali varies in different restaurants. We ordered the dahi puri, chicken thali, mutton thali and pav bhajji and were extremely pleased by the recommendations. I highly recommend this restaurant. Even though the food was amazing but what really impressed me was the service by Disha. She knew exactly what would please the customers and was fast in doing so. Thanks for such a great experience.
Wonderful experience , went here after a while but the experience still is awesome. Great experience and tasty food..Do try the masala chicken lolipop
Good food but bit expensive
My first visit was perfectly awesome food, atmosphere, service,Today was my second visit as well as a horrible experience,I ordered Bombay chicken Biryani,it was watery, tasteless ,the raita was looking like a white water with veggies.
As the name suggests its a restaurant with one of the finest dishes from the Mumbai financial capital of India. I recommend having Gobi Manchurian, Vadapav, Pav Bhaaji and all their special they are fantastic Food
Best Misal Pav ever I had in Toronto
Ordered via skip! Tried the promfret fry, for 20-22$ they definitely need to improve the portion size, the fish wasnt well cooked nor fresh despite requesting for well cook
From many days we wanted to try this restaurant for Mumbai ( Bombay ) style street food ; and we are very glad we finally did. We tried - Misal Pav Pao Bhaji Sabudana Vada And everything was amazing and close to what we get Maharashtra! Service is fast , staff is very friendly , welcoming and kind . Vegetarian options: Misal Pav is great
Had a wonderful time at Mumbaikars, the same authentic taste i was looking for was fulfilled by you guys. Thank you so much for the amazing taste.
Loved the food and atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Not a very busy restaurant. The staff are nice. The food was pretty good. The Mumbai vada pav I really liked, but it was quite spicy. Chicken lollipop, Surmai fry/ pomfret fry were good. I wasn t a fan of the raga pattice. It just wasn t good. The falooda was a bit of a disappointment. Overall it was decent. I would consider going back.
Waited for 30 mins and then denied entry. Very poor customer service
Miserable people management. Management is not qualified enough to anticipate the inflow of guests and Uber orders and provide a suitable wait time. We were told that the wait time is approximately 25 mins and would call back. Post 45 mins when we went back to enquire, the management mentioned that they are not ready to accept new guests as they cannot take any guests further. There were at least two to three tables still vacant!! If you are asked to wait, there is no guarantee that the team would call you back or intimate in any form that the table is ready. Be prepared to be dejected !!! And yes I cant rate the food and ambience, because we were denied the opportunity itself!!!!
Poor management and poor service
Very rude behavior from the owner. They told us to wait for 25 mins then said cant service us
Absolutely loved this place. Delicious food, great art and amazing service.
Went last night with some friends after hearing about Mumbaikar through tiktok, and really glad we did! All the food was quite delicious, our favourites were the Bombay Butter chicken (well spiced, slight sweetness which was nice, and a bit of a charred taste which also elevated the dish; perfect with the garlic naan we got), the masala lollipops (absolutely delicious, a bit spicy), and the triple schezwan rice (Hakka style fried rice with delicious gravy). Servers were all really nice! Wasnt too busy when we first came in around 8:45 but was packed shortly after. Would definitely come again!
We tried tandoori Momos, Gobi Manchurian, bhindi masala a, paneer tikka masala.. staff is very good and service dis excellent. We loved everything we ordered.
My family and I had a suberb experience here. The atmosphere was cozy and the food was high quality (traditional with contemporary twists) and bursting with flavour. The best we have had in the city. The service team were all very welcoming and kind. We marked a special occasion here and the chef even came out to greet us with a special dish. Thank-you to the entire team at Mumbaikar!
Friendly service, tasty food and good to so see items on the menu that you don t see at most other Indian restaurants in Toronto. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options.
This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Located in downtown Toronto, the ambience is perfect for dinner with friends or family members. The food was very tasty, especially the Butter Naan.
Good food bad interior lighting
A Gem of a place. My wife and daughter had dinner after a show at Paradise Theatre. The food was excellent and different from most Indian cusine. Onion Pakoda, Malai Chicken Tikka, Lamb Masala Curry, Matunga Fish Curry with Jeera Rice and Naan. The Mumbai Mule cocktail was unique and went well with the food. The service and the attention from the wait staff was superb! They were very attentive to your level of spiciness. Thank you.
Love it, if you are looking for authentic Mumbai taste , go to this place. Their Missal and Vada Pav are really good.
Nailed it!
Seriously not worth it... This place is very expensive and the food is not that great either. Misal pav and vada pav were good but it is not worth the arm and leg they charge for it. Triple schezwan fried rice, and chicken lollipop were very disappointing. We had high hopes and expectations from this place after seeing all the hype but it was really very disappointing. Tastes were nothing special.
The veggie fried rice and jackfruit curry were good. The food didn t taste fresh though- the momos were definitely old. The pistachio tres leches is a great spin but the cake again tasted old.
I had an amazing experience at Mumbaikar at Bloor. The service was impeccable attentive, friendly, and prompt without being overbearing. The staff Nivi went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. What truly stood out was the remarkable quality of the food. From appetizers to desserts, every bite was a delight. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was impressive, and the taste was simply outstanding. I highly recommend this for its top-notch service and consistently high-quality cuisine. Its a place where attention to detail and culinary expertise truly shine, making every visit an absolute pleasure.
Good food, we got a bunch of stuff the main thing that we were looking forward to was the pav bhaji which wasn t that good and we were very disappointed. The vada pav was small but tasted really good. The malai tikka wasn t well marinated and not juicy. Everything was well presented and was clean. The service was very slow and we always had to wait to get a server. Good music.
From amongst ALL Indian food I have tried here, this place is by far my favourite. The chicken lollipop (Chinese style), triple Schezwan rice was to die for (full street food feels).. their kokam martini was so so good. And Arya - our mulgi from Nagpur - was so hospitable and so so sweet. Her reco was amazing! Listen take my word.. just try this place. You won t be disappointed.
