By my request, my husband and I visited this Indonesian restaurant. Compared to other Indonesian restaurants, Satay Sate is more affordable and has variety of options. We ordered Nasi Kuning Combo, Gado-gado, Satay (with tofu), Nasi Goreng (with tofu), and Es Cendol as the dessert. I'm very impressed with the management decision. The space is small but comfy, with an industrial feeling. The decoration reminds me of different places in Indonesia (Javanese masks, pedicab, Balinese puppets). But they played Western pop music and yes, the visitors were not only Indonesians. I am an Indonesian from Jakarta, accustomed to both salty (Sumatran) and sweet (Javanese) flavours. The food menu, I believe, is mainly from Java island. They did, however, incorporate Mie Ayam (originally from South China), Kue Talam (Batavian food), Ikan with Sambal Matah (Balinese). One thing I regret is that they didn't have many staffs. It was 3 staffs against 3-4 families, with moderate turnaround. But overall, I'm glad we enjoyed our time. Flavourful, delicious, and fulfilling!
Really delicious food with decent portion sizes! I especially enjoyed the nasi goreng, ayam penyet (fried chicken), and the chicken satay, but everything was good! We got quite a bit for two people, but I’m glad we got to try it all! Great place to get Indonesian food in North York!
Satay Sate has authentic halal spicy Indonesian food that's super unique to Toronto. 📝 🚗 You can park in the paid parking lot and then ask the cashier for a parking voucher (free of charge). That way you don't need to pay for street parking and worry about spending time at the restaurant. 🥘☕️ This place specializes in Indonesian food items including street food. It's honestly one of the best restaurants in Toronto and is always worth more than one visit. We ordered the: Ayam Goreng, Nasi Bakar, Mie Jawa, and Nasi Goreng. Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken) - This was the spiciest thing that we ordered and we asked for more spicy sambal (it was really good!) Nasi Bakar (loosely translated as Burned/Grilles Rice) - Yellow coconut milk rice wrapped in steamed banana leaf - The banana leaf gives an earthy flavour (super common in South Asian cultures) which is so exciting to see and packs a punch of flavour - Mild to no spicy Mie Jawa (Javanese Noodles) - We ordered this with chicken - Good mild-spicy dish Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) - Authentic fried rice, and we ordered it with beef - Mild spice level 🕑 Closes pretty late (9pm) but opens at 11:30 am right in time for lunch! There's a steady flow of customers but there's plenty of seating available. 🌿✨️ The aesthetics of this place are cute and summery, but it also has a rustic modern touch to it. I think it'd be best if they added more Indonesian artwork to make it more cohesive. 🤍 Customer service is amazing! They'll explain each dish to you, and ask for your preferred spice level. The owner came and talked to us and she explained to us the history of Indonesian food and where the influence comes from. It's hard to come by places that offer amazing food and even better customer service so whenever I find a gem like this I try to visit often!
This Indonesian gem is a must visit!! The incredible service by Jeanne Watulo, owner and Chef is unmatched. From start to finish, the flavours of every dish dazzles the senses. The Bakwan Jagung (corn fritter) delights your taste buds! All the sates are delicious and are served with Chef Watulo’s homemade peanut sauce. You will ask for more peanut sauce when you taste it!! The star of our visit was the Nasi Goreng (Indonesian fried rice). This restaurant should be on the Michelin Guide!! Absolutely incredible and very highly recommended!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Came here with my friends for lunch. We ordered about 6 dishes for 3 people to share. The food is really good and affordable. The service is also nice and all of the staff are friendly and supportive. Would love to come again!
Came here for dinner, the staff was attentive and friendly. They took time to explain the menu and gave suggestions. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would recommend to come for dinner or lunch. You can also validate your parking if you park in the parking garage beside the restaurant.
It was our first time trying an Indonesian restaurant. The food was very flavourful. The service was good, and they offered some tasty recommendations. They checked in with us periodically to ask how our meal was going. We very much enjoyed our introduction to Indo-food, and we'd like to come again to try some other interesting dishes.
I like different type of cuisine. Searched on Google and saw this place and went there. So glad we picked this restaurant. The food was delicious. The quality of the food and the service was excellent. We love the desert too. I give 5 stars. The chef (I think she is the owner) came out to chat with us and other customers. She really cares if customers like the food or not. Highly recommend the weekend menu. Those items are currently available only on the weekends. For sure we will be back.
Such great food and service! Ended up taking an extra order to go!!
The food was good and the price is hard to beat!
Amazing same taste as indonesian
The food is amazing and the people are so kind, polite and helpful. It has become a weekly visit for us.
Its not easy to find vegetarian nasi goreng in Toronto. This place is pretty authentic. Nasi goreng could have been a little more though Vegetarian options: Limited options but all are good
Portion sizes were small. Food wasn t super authentic.
So yummy! Been craving nasi goreng...sated! Food
Never had Indonesian food before, but wanted to try something new. With nothing else to compare to, I would say it was decent. I ordered the martabak with ground beef and the nasi kuning combo, while my friend ordered the Balinese grilled fish. The martabak was decent and the nasi kuning had some nice flavours as well. Atmosphere is really nice in this restaurant. Nice and bright, and very spacious. One thing Id note is that service was a little bit lacking. It wasnt bad, and the server was nice, but more proactive service would be good (checking in, filling water without being asked). Especially when the restaurant is mostly empty. The restaurant can also provide a voucher for the parking garage next door so make sure to ask for that so that you dont have to pay. Parking: Ask for a parking voucher
Very authentic Indonesian food
The food we ordered was delicious and the service was good.
Its a halal indonesian restaurant. We ordered Nasi Goreng with chicken(2people can share), Chicken skewers with peanut sauce (it was yummy), Soto Ayam and Ikan Samnal Mata. Food tastes good, restaurant am in was nice, washroom was clean, staffs were friendly. Overall a good experience.
Walking by and was a perfect surprise of a lunch spot. First time having Indonesian food and was not disappointed. Very friendly staff and great food.
If youre looking for authentic, flavorful Indonesian cuisine, look no further than Satay Sate! Jenny, the owner and chef, truly pours her heart and soul into every dish. Her passion for cooking shines through in every bite, and her recommendations were spot-on. She s not only knowledgeable but also incredibly helpful, making sure you have the best possible dining experience. The customer service here is second to none. Abdul was also fantastic friendly, attentive, and always ready with a smile. It s rare to find such warmth and hospitality paired with exceptional food. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving delicious, home-cooked Indonesian food in a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a must-visit!
Food is definitely 10/10 but unfortunately there was an insect in the sambal
Only come here if you have all the time in the world. Waited 30+ minutes for our food and it was not even hot!!! The taste overall was average only don t come if you value your time
If you are craving for some Indonesian food, this is the place! The nasi goreng and fried chicken is must try.
Tasty food and friendly staff to explain the menu. Worth trying the food. Food is delicious.
One of the best restaurants that serves authentic Indonesian dishes. This is my second time and will definitely come again.
Tasty food and attentive service with a very reasonable price. Parking: Free indoor parking Food : 5/5 |
The chicken skewers were burnt & dry. Overall not impressed
Best chicken I ve ever had
Nice restaurant with delicious food and pleasant atmosphere. The Mie Jawa, Nasi Goreng, and Mixed Sate are all full of flavour and delicious! The service is friendly and welcoming and the prices are good. Large portions that are very filling.
So this place has been on my radar for quite some time now and I finally ventured down here to give it a try and my only regret is I should have came here much earlier as I have missed out on some great food. I came here with a friend on a weekday evening and atmosphere was rather relaxing as opposed to a fast paced environment with lots of people, not that there is anything wrong with that but a nice change of scenery, not to mention being greeted by smiling staff is always a welcoming sign. So my friend and I shared lumpia which is known to be Philippino but this one is different as there was no meat and it had some veggies and soft tofu and it was pleasantly nice especially the pairing with the peanut sauce as that had to have been the best peanut sauce Ive ever eaten as it was to die for. Oh, I guess I should have mentioned if you have a nut allergy to stay very far away from here. Next on the menu, we shared skewers of meat, and they cooked to perfection as they were not overly charred, which can be overpowering and once again paired with that peanut sauce enhanced it to another level. Next was their coconut curry which was well balanced in flavor as nothing was over powering but only down side I had for this was you had to order rice separately for it as me personally if you are serving a dish that is meant to be paired with rice as an example just pair it up automatically. The other thing I would recommend is the chairs as they are metal, and if one came here during winter, the last thing you would want to sit on is metal. But overall, this is a nice little gem to visit and indulge as the food is rather home-some. So I will be coming here once again and do recommend people giving this place a try.
Had dinner last night with my family. We ordered mixed Satay, Beef Ribs, Nasi Goreng and Nasi Kuning Combo. Food was absolutely delicious. Service improvement is needed. They closed the kitchen before asking us if want to order any dessert. Parking: Underground is free for restaurant customers.
Fantastic food. We ordered half the menue to try the different dishes, every dish was great! I highly recommend it!
Delicious Indonesian food in a cozy and modern cafe style restaurant. The star of the show were the satay skewers which were very tender and juicy. The Gado Gado and Cendol were also nice additions to the meal. We will definitely be going back!
Great meal! Recommend the chicken and beef satay.
The food is good but service needs to be better.
Had a really nice lu xh here today
The best indonesian restaurant in Toronto. There is a free 2 hour parking ( with validation) in the 6 floor parking building. The food is excellent with wide variety of indonesian cuisine. The food is Halal. The prices are reasonable. The service is amazing, special thanks to Bilal ( for his attentiveness) and manager (who is making sure food is cooked at standard). We will return back .. Dietary restrictions: Hala option Kid-friendliness: Very feiendly. Special thanks
This place had amazing Indonesian food with great ambience as well. The highlight for me was the Nasi Goreng - it was so good! Wish the menu had more options, but everything I tried so far has been great.
The food was delicious, the service was great, and the decor of the restaurant was simple and clean.
Satay Sate takes you back to Bali From the welcoming and kind service, to the delicious, flavourful food Satay Sate is our go-to restaurant when we are looking for something good to eat. We came back for a second time, and tried out some new dishes. This time we tried the short rib and the ayam penyet (spicy smashed fried chicken). The food was absolutely delicious! The chicken was just the right amount of spicy and the skin was so crispy. It s amazing how flavourful the whole dish is. The short ribs were also amazing, with the sauce it was extremely tender. In the past we ve tried the plate that comes with fried chicken, some beef stew and rice so we could try a bit of a few things. We also love the satay skewers. We also tried the coconut drink, it s a nice refreshing dessert if you re looking for something not too sweet but very different and authentic. I highly recommend this restaurant for genuine authentic indonesian food! There are others but this restaurant stands out!! It s also very reasonably priced too which makes us come back from more. Parking is provided by the restaurant
Great menu, good service, and great tasting food.
Ended up giving this place a try and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend if in the area. Everything is so flavourful and perfectly cooked.
I tried this restaurant for the first time and ordered mie jawa and martabak as takeout. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The martabak was far from authentic and not recommended; I struggled to finish it. The mie jawa arrived soggy and cold, and although it was somewhat authentic, it was not enjoyable. The packaging was subpar, failing to keep the food warm and fresh. The portions were decent, but the flavors did not meet my expectations. Given the quality of the food and the lack of authenticity, I would not order from this restaurant again. If youre looking for a genuine Indonesian dining experience, I recommend trying other places. This one just doesnt hit the mark.
Best Indonesian Food in Toronto. Friendly service Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options and delicious too Food : 5/5 |
This is my husbands and my favourite restaurant - We stopped by for the first time back in February on a whim and have been back practically almost every weekend! Their weekend special is fantastic. The price is great, the food is amazing and the service is spectacular (as always) . The dish I had I believe is called the Nasi Kunig Combo, and the flowers are Kue Talam which has quickly and effortlessly become my favourite dessert ever. I couldn t recommend this restaurant enough and look forward to going back many more times!
Great hidden gem for Indonesian food. Parking is inconvenient.
Visiting this location a few times for lunch and always had a great experience. Beautiful Indonesian restaurant with amazing food and great service! Staff are super friendly. The restaurant has a lots of vegetarian options. They also offer prepaid parking tickets for guests. Definitely come back again soon
This was a chance find on a glorious summer day, when we were craving for satay in particular. The food was very authentic and tasted amazing.. the service was great too! The owner of the place was extremely humble and very nice to interact with. Will recommend this place..
One of the most underrated restaurants in the GTA.Great food, great ambience and service. They have a limited but high quality menu. I cant wait to go back and try something else the next time. Parking: Parking is in the building and fee is waivered for 2 hours if you dine in.
Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is wonderful, best fish ever! Food
I havent had Indonesian Restaurant food dishes in a very long time (since 2004, when my mother owned and was the head chef in one). Satay Sate got almost everything perfect. I didnt take photos of the main dishes (but I did of the dessert), Their Nasi Goreng assorted dish was very tasty. The rendang was well made and flavorful, the ayam goreng (fried chicken) was awesome with a crispy skin and not overcooked meat. I did find the chicken Gulai dish a touch too spicy but the taste was definitely there. The bowl of coconut rice I got was very fragrant and a nice blend to cut down the spice of the Gulai. The acar (pickled cucumber and carrots) definitely reminded me of Jakarta and Bali restaurants in terms of flavour. The chicken and beef satay combo was tasty as well and it was nice to see a legit crunchy peanut sauce instead of the peanut butter style. The soto ayam was tasty enough that my kid devoured it... For dessert, we shared a dish of pisang goreng (deep fried bananas) taste wise, it was perfect, but I found the crust to be a little bit too thick (were talking by 2 or 3 mm. Sorry kid food taster mentality in me). The ice cream served with it had my kid devour each bite of the bananas with probably more than 2 teaspoons of ice cream on it. The cendol (kinda like a tropical bubble tea) had the perfect blend in flavor that I got from the hocker stands in Jakarta. With a rating of 5 out of 5, Id definitely want to come back. The staff were extremely friendly and polite and I ended up saying to them terima kasih, makanannya enak sekali (thank you, the food was very tasty). Parking: You do get a coupon that pays for your parking.
Very delicious satay (both chicken and beef). Authentic cendol dessert, one of the best that I have tried in North America (adding bits of jackfruit will make it perfect). Rendang beef is below average in my opinion, a little bit dry and tough. Parking: Restaurant validated free parking in the next door garage up to 3 hours
Food was great, had take out chicken skewers and beef skewers wrap. Even when I got home the skewers tasted great, the hot sauce seemed a bit mild. The beef skewers wrap seemed like too much going on in the wrap. I can only imagine what the food taste like dine in, cant wait to try it again but this time dine in.
Cute hidden gem in Scarborough for those craving for Indonesian food. Service was great, servers are friendly but just patience when waiting for your food please. Food are excellent except the snacks (es cendol and martabak) didnt hit the right tastebuds. Everything else is an excellent experience! Totally recommended.
This place is not bad. The food is very delicious but the portion is kinda small and its a bit pricy. The owners are very nice and friendly. Must try their satay. The restaurant looks clean and spacious.
Came across the restaurant by chance and it was surprisingly really good! Loved the chicken skewers and noodles with shrimp. Very flavorful.
We saw this restaurant when we visited the Burger place next door and thought we would give it a try. The menu is fairly limited. We had the corn fritters and chicken satay. The fritters were tasty. The satay was okay, but lacked flavour, they are served on top of the peanut sauce which also lacked flavour. A little seasoning would go a long way. The one issue I had was, several of the chicken skewers seemed to have been placed in the same place some fish was previously grilled. So this was not a welcome flavour on our skewers. Service was good and the staff were very nice!
Great space with yummy food. The peanut sauce on the skewers of chicken ate delicious. The salad is yummy and had a lovely dressing. I only wish the serving size was a little larger.
Really reasonably price, tasty food and friendly service ! Will definitely be back for more.
We order the Shrimp Mie Jawa and Beef Rendang with Coconut Rice, and both of them were amazing. We ordered the mild spicy versions of both and it was too hot for us. The service was prompt and the interior is decently well done! Would recommend!!
If youre craving authentic Malaysian/Indonesian food, this is the closest it gets. Their food was bursting with flavor and the spice levels were perfect! While the food and atmosphere were great, we felt we were let down by the service. We were told food would take 10-15 minutes but it took well over 30. And a large group that entered after us were served before us. And they also messed up our order before they rushed in and fixed it. Mixed Sate - I found it good but my wife loved it. Their peanut sauce definitely stood out. Mie Jawa - This was bursting with flavor and was quite spicy (which I personally loved). Pair this with some extra peanut sauce/chili sauce and youll love it too. Nasi Goreng - This was a classic. Youll get exactly what you expect (if youve had it before). Perfect blend of flavor. Ayam Penyet - It was my first time trying this and I was pleasantly surprised. It had a very authentic taste and had the perfect balance of flavor. Must try at least once. Coconut Crepe Desert - This was a weekend special and not sure what the exact name was but this was good too. Nothing extraordinary but youll like it if youre a fan of coconuts. My wife loved it though.
Amazing restaurant with amazing staff members, we went there to break our fast for iftaar. We have been there before and I recommend 100%.
Ayam Penyet was delicious(smashed fried chicken with sambal). Cendol Ice (dessert) was really good.
My partner and I ordered takeout from here. The service was so friendly, and the food was divine. What a wonderful spot!
Great food, great service and great ambiance. Park at the parking garage they will give you a coupon for free parking
We loved the Ayam Goreng. The sharing platter had five pieces of chicken. We also enjoyed the Nasi Goreng, good portion but wish the flavor was a bit stronger. The beef satay was good too. Re-visit update: Had Nasi Goreng, Beef Satay, Ayam Goreng, and Mie Jawa. Everything was spot on!
I am in love! I m so happy I found this gem! I was watching Tzuyang s mukbang in Indonesia and was curious about the food. Satay Sate is the closest to my home. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! The food is soo good!!! I am going to come back!!! Also, the server who served us is a young man who plays the guitar! He is very hospitable, very friendly, not annoying type! I was so happy with my experience here!!! The lady was also very nice! She chatted with us for a while and made sure to make us feel comfortable. Terima Kasih! Parking: They give vouchers - FREE PARKING FOR THE FIRST 3 HOURS.
The service was amazing, we ordered mi goreng and the owner s recommendation. the flavored rice was so good and the fried chicken was so much nicer than I expected. the noodle was a bit dry but the overall it was good.
A nice modern Indonesian restaurant tucked away in an industrial area. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there were quite a few customers, about 60% full. They have a weekend menu, but you can order from the regular menu as well. The restaurant is very clean, and the servers are very friendly. There is an indoor parking lot next to the restaurant and after your meal, the restaurant will give you a coupon which gives you 3 hours of free parking. The quality of the food is good and the portions of food are reasonable for the price they charge. The service is excellent and you never feel rushed. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Imagine a brisk winters day, the chill in the air prompting you to seek refuge in a charming restaurant. Stepping into Satay Sate (12 William Sylvester Dr, Toronto, ON M2J 0E9), the promise of an authentic halal Indonesian experience warms both the heart and the palate. Our winter escapade commenced with a flavorful beef marangii - tender cuts of dry-aged beef, seasoned with a variety of spices and herbs, creating an exquisite fusion of aromas and tastes. The Chicken Mie Jawa elevated the experience further, featuring tender noodles immersed in a rich Javanese-style broth, perfectly balanced with sweet soy sauce, fragrant spices, and succulent shredded chicken. Garnished with fresh herbs, crispy shallots, and a dash of lime, this stir-fried noodle dish was a sensory delight. Accompanying these culinary gems were the ayam penyet and coconut rice. The ayam penyet showcased impeccably fried and smashed chicken, delivering a crisp exterior that revealed tender, juicy meat, complemented by a tantalizing sour and spicy kick. In contrast, the coconut rice offered a sweet, luscious profile, creating a refreshing counterpoint to the meal. The feast concluded with cendol, a dessert epitomizing the tropical sweetness of Indonesian cuisine. The pandan jelly, delicately chewy and green, was generously bathed in coconut milk and palm syrup, served atop a bed of shaved ice - a refreshing finale to an indulgent meal. Whether craving a regal feast or seeking comfort during the cold winter months, Satay Sate beckons. With a diverse menu encompassing satay, noodles, rice dishes, and desserts - including vegetarian and gluten-free options - this culinary haven ensures a satisfying experience for every palette. I like the atmosphere. Foods are delicious. Its a bit lacking compared to what I ate in Indonesia.
The beef satay is sooo soft! The portion was great. Im stuffed! Save some Satay for me. Ill be back!
Love the vibe. The man and the lady that attended to us was super friendly. The food was so good that I didn t even remember to take photos! The rendang was soft and juicy, if you love spicy food, the ayam penyet is a MUST HAVE. Love the gado-gado. Beef maranggi and chicken satay were perfection!
Fair portions, good food, but flavours are a bit underwhelming. Still worth to go. Note: u have to go into the visitors parking in the building, theres no street parking Food
Flavor Food offers a delightful dining experience with its top-notch cuisine. The service is commendable, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a pleasant meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is peaceful and cozy, providing a quiet and comfortable environment perfect for enjoying a meal in serenity. Highly recommended for those seeking quality food and a relaxing dining atmosphere. Parking: Restaurant validate parking for free
Loved the food so much I ordered the same thing for takeout for the family
What a wonderful place! Food, the service and the ambience all were spot on. Flavours were amazing and loved the portion sizes too. Too bad were not close by to this place to come regularly. Highly recommended.
Food is good. Staff are very friendly. Restaurant looks nice with simple decorations and yellow lights. Enjoy my time here with my friends
Food was okay but the place is nice.
Small quiet restaurant with authentic indo food. The skewers are amazing and curry super delicious. Will definitely come back again soon.
Nice hidden gem for Indonesian food. Tucked away in more of a commercial business area, the prices were fair and the portions were quite large and delicious. Their chicken satay was nice and tender. Their noodles and rice dices were also just the right amount of flavour reminding of night market food vendors in Asia. Parking is also free in the parking lot. It was not busy on Saturday during lunch but Im sure it gets busy during the work week.
Grilled fish, beef skewers, coconut crepe dessert... outstanding! I wish I had taken photos. My toddler son loved the coconut rice too.
Really enjoyed the food here, thanks!!
Tasty food with welcoming service and convenient price!
Enjoyed the new year eve dinner. Service was excellent and the proprietor was very helpful in recommendations for desserts. They ran out of a few items, so we will go back for more later!
Amazing place, great vibes. The staff are super friendly and fast service. The food was absolutely delicious.
This restaurant served delicious, authentic Indonesian cuisine. We had 3 dishes and 2 desserts - all were fantastic! My kids ate a lot, especially the 1 year old who kept pointing at the Nasi Goreng and smacked his lips for more. The desserts were exquisite and tasty. Service was friendly, attentive and fast. I highly recommend! PS - get the skewers with peanut sauce. Parking: Free parking with dine-in Kid-friendliness: Has high chairs but no change table
Came here with 3 people to try out Indonesian food. Its not very easy to find them in Toronto, but I think this is top tier. Note that this place is halal as well. Chicken and beef sate (skewers in photos), are the best items in this place. The peanut sauce goes well with the grilled chicken and a very spicy diced veggie mixture is the perfect compliment to the grilled beef. Nasi goreng (fried noodles), are flavourful, with the main taste being sweet soy sauce with garlic. Chicken is still tender, and very well marinated. This is an Indonesian classic you must get, even though it may be too heavy of a flavour to eat with other dishes here. Ayam penyet (chilli sauce covered fried chicken), is incredibly tender. This may be too spicy, in which case you should order it with a different chilli sauce. You can eat this with coconut rice or just on its own. It is spicy and savoury, but the chicken flavour is not covered by the sauce. Excellent option to try. Beef rendang (beef stew), is mediocre, with the flavour being too mild and beef chunks being a little tough still. I would avoid getting this. Overall a fantastic experience, I cant wait to come back on a weekend to try the special menu, especially the grilled fish.
Great service and Amazing food! We ordered Martabak, Chicken Sate,Balinese grill fish, Kue talam, Pisang Goreng and Cendol. Everything was fresh and delicious. Food
Great experience trying Indonesian food for the first time. I thought the satay peanut sauce was excellent and I enjoyed the coconut/basil flavour in the chicken rice in banana leaf. The rice cake dessert was very nice and you could taste real ube and sweet potato. Service was very friendly.
Flavoursome, soulful food. We had the chicken curry, fried chicken and beef skewers with coconut rice. Taste was top notch + lady servicing us lovely. Happy with experience
The food is very flavorful and the service is great. One of the only few places in the GTA that offer authentic Indonesian cuisine!
Amazing food, felt like a visit to Indonesia. The food and sauce taste amazing and authentic.
The experience was unfortunately not as expected from a nice trendy looking restaurant. Ended up with dirty cutlery, cold food, and the food was tasteless. Not worth it in my opinion.
Really tender beef, great authentic Indonesian good. Go here for the real stuff rather than Little Sister. Parking: Free validated parking
Food is authentic and delicious Staff is very friendly and good service Food
Good tasting food and a good amount of variety. Tried the chicken skewers which were great, the chicken fried rice and the fried chicken which were both good. The beef randang was alright.
Had their fried chicken entre, their coconut drink and their banana fritters. This is my second time going here. The food is really good. Its different but familiar! I would definitely recomend this place if you wanna try 100% halal indonesian food. The owner is wonderful person! For the 3 items, the price was definitely reasonable. Dietary restrictions: Its 100% halal, the owner is very conscious of that.
Wonderful service here! Clean delicious food. The server was so polite, helpful and respectful. The food itself was really good. We really enjoyed our time here!
The Nasi Goreng was quite subpar. Didnt have much of a flavor and in my opinion was a bit too sweet. Probably wont get this again from here.
Incredible food, and friendly service. Will be back for more!
We ordered a mix of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. The Nasi goreng was really good, both chicken and the tofu version. Chicken skewers and drinks were great too. Good spot for some genuine Indonesian food.
Very clean, food is delicious, fresh and price wise affordable and comparable to other restaurants. Very friendly people 100% customer service. Very pleasant atmosphere. Vegetarian options: Vegetanle menu as well Parking: Lots and free parking spaces Kid-friendliness: Decorations are for every level of life
Reasonable priced Indonesian food. We tried several dishes. Nasi goreng was good. Soto Adam could be better. Stan pen yet was tasty
Been coming to this place since they opened. Loved seeing how they have evolved and continue to serve up authentic Indonesian food. The owner/chef is so friendly and works very hard to keep the standard high in her restaurant! Satays are fantastic but my fave is the beef rendang!! Must try.
Very nice place, well kept and the staff is great. I went with the beef red rendang entree, and it was tasty, and a pop. Portion wise, I thought it was okay only, but hard to say since this was my first time. I will go again and try something else. Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian dishes Parking: Free parking with restaurant provided voucher.
I really love this kind of Southeast Asian style skewers. The beef I picked is so tender and not dry at all. It looks like dark soy sauce and the dark and thick sweet dipping sauce makes the flavor of the skewers more prominent. The super special banana leaf roasted curry chicken rice is one of the must-order dishes in Indonesian cuisine. The aroma of banana leaves permeates the rice. The curry rice is filled with shredded coconut, which is fragrant. The rice is soft but not greasy. The grilled chicken is marinated with local special seasonings and then grilled, making the meat tender and juicy. The store is right next to the Taiwanese supermarket, and it s free indoors
Love the food here. Really good Indonesian food. We ordered mee goreng with chicken and shrimp, sop bontot and nasi goreng with chicken (no photo)
My dad is from Indonesia and whenever he misses the food we come here. Service is always fast, attentive and kind. The food is authentic and delicious! Our favourites are the nasi goreng tempeh, chicken and beef satay, Mie Jawa and the gado gado (like an Indonesian salad with peanut sauce!) Theres plenty of seating and the restaurant will validate your underground parking ticket so its free if you ask.
#1 Indonesian restaurant in the whole GTA. Great food. The satay sauce is so well made. Love the nasi goreng. And, I just can t resist not having the cendol after such a good Indonesian meal. Parking: Lots. Free coupon after dinner. Kid-friendliness: Of course.
It was my first time and everything was delicious! The service was lovely and so friendly and helpful. I cant wait to visit again.
Oxtail soup is a ripoff. $16.95 before tax for 3 small pieces thinly sliced oxtail. Ripoff for sure! And the staff agreed but said that oxtail is expensive. Unbelievable!
First off, the service is AMAZING. The friendliest waiter ever - on the phone and in person. The food was good but not spectacular, hence the 4 stars. The mackerel main only comes as is. I felt that there should have been something with it - soup, slaw, rice, anything! Satay was good but the peanut sauce flavour could be taken up a notch. Restaurant is quiet, spacious and great for families.
What a lovely place! I have been craving for authentic Indonesian food and so glad to finally find this place. Everything is amazing but my fav today is the curry chicken (forgot to take a photo) and my all time favorite- Nasi Goreng !!
Awesome food for great price. We experienced great service.
Decent taste but a little bit bland. Chicken skewers were delicious.
Parking: The restaurant offers parking ticket Food
Very good food. Authentic. Bukan main main
5 star food and service
Wonderful food. Very nicely prepared with authentic spices and taste. Must visit.
Everything I ordered tasted amazing! Best Spring Rolls Ive ever had. Food was very authentic, just like how it tasted in Indonesia! Staff is welcoming and friendly. They give free parking vouchers
The Ayam penyet was awesome!
Ordered here for dine in lunch after the rush hour! Food was great. Ask for their house hot sauce on the side if you like to add a spicy kick to your dish. The tempeh was good, would add it to chicken goreng next time I m back. Clean location, friendly staff!
Good food
Food is great! My Malaysian friend gave the approval of the authenticity! Strongly recommend the Chicken rice in banana leaves. A rare menu item that I would definitely go back just for that! Of course satay skewers are delicious! Next time, we will go early to try their sold out dessert items! Parking: Close to paid parking lot, but they offer discount validation.
Loved absolutely everything about the experience, most delicious Indonesian food Ive ever had, beautiful simple clean decor, relaxing music soothing every bite, cant say enough good things about this place, cannot wait to come back, truly amazing
Came here for dinner and really enjoyed the food. I have hardly any experience with Indonesian food so I cannot attest to the authenticity of it but all I know is that the food tasted good. We were able to try a lot of things and got the gado gado salad, chicken and beef skewers, beef rendang, mie jawa, nasi bakar and ayam bakar and cendol. Really have no complaints about any of the food. We enjoyed it all! We all especially liked the mie jawa and I was surprised with how much I liked the ayam bakar. Very flavorful and not dry at all. Ive had cendol once in Malaysia and it tasted very similar. Would have like maybe just a tad bit more pandan jelly in it. Service was friendly. Prices are very reasonable. You can also ask for a parking coupon for 3 hours of parking for the parkade right next to them. Plenty of parking spots in the parkade. Would definitely come back again and recommend others to try.
Good food, reasonable price. Lots of free parking by asking the restaurant to endorse the parking ticket. Parking: Need to get endorsement on parking ticket from restaurant for free parking
This was me and my partner s first time trying Indonesian food, and it was amazing! We ordered the martabak with ground beef and the mie jawa with tofu. So yummy and the portion sizes were great for the price. Their service was so warm and kind, it felt like they went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options, and also a lot of modifications available to make your dish vegetarian! Parking: Plenty of parking in the parking garage. If you show the workers your parking confirmation from the parking garage, they will give you another ticket that you insert before leaving the garage, and that way parking is free!
Delicious food and great service. Fresh ingredients, authentic taste; portion size is just right. Our first time trying Indonesian cuisine and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend trying Beef Rendang Entree, Ayam Penyet Entree, Mango Soda & Cendol. Special thanks to our server for making our day:)
Food was good. Service was excellent! Would definitely recommend.
Okay service but meat was very stale and bland
Authentic Indonesian cuisine!
One of only a handful authentic Indonesian restaurants in the GTA. It s a hidden gem located in the vicinity of Fairview Mall in North York. Parking: If parking in the parking garage, get free parking pass from your server before leaving
Excellent food and atmosphere, friendly service . Halal
Great meal and excellent service. The sambal for penyek chicken rice was soooooooooooo delicious. A must!
Great food and service!
Parking: Restaurant can validate parking ticket free of charge Food
I have been eating here for years. This is a hidden gem. They have the best peanut satay sauce Ive ever had. Friendly staff.. Just an overall gem. Would recommend to anyone. For parking: get a ticket in the garage and then ask the restaurant for a parking pass. You need both your original ticket as well as the pass they give you to exit for free. 3 hr free parking they give!
Amazing place for indonesian food. I came for the first time with family and everyone enjoyed the food and service. We had picky eaters: no milk, no egg, vegetarian, spicy and everyone was accommodated. The owner was very nice and talked to us for a bit, explaining to us about the food, how it is in Indonesia, what is different, it was a great conversation! The server was super nice and attentive. Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian and dairy free options. Parking: Park in the garage. Restaurant will give you a 3h coupon.
One of the best Indonesian food in Toronto. Staff are very friendly , price is reasonable Food
Amazing food and amazing service!
It was such a let down and was very disappointed with my takeout order of beef rendang last night. It did not look appetizing and the portion was so small. Food
Thank you for the great experience! Brought a table of 9, friendly staff. Good food. Really commend the shrimp, soup, and beef skewers!
I love this place. Authentic Indonesian place in town. The indoor seating is very cosy and the service is mostly good. The sate is good and the fried chicken is even better. I would also recommend trying their Curcumin ginger tea, it s my personal favourite. Definitely a must try and you will go back again. Parking: Street green P parking.
They have amazing food for a very good price. Loved their service too!
Visited on a Saturday night. We really loved our food and the service was super friendly and fast. We enjoyed the Nasi Bakar very much. Really great option for halal meal!!
Amazing staff. Really nice and reasonably priced food
Delicious food excellent service.will visit again and try different things.
Great food! Great tastes and really kind and nice staff.
Absolutely delicious. Had a group of friends come in and we were warmly welcomed. Atmosphere was informal and relaxed. Great place for communal dining. The meal was a great experience. Would def come by again
It s our first time to give a shot on Indonesian food. To be honest, it s the taste that we hadn t tried before. However, their service and attitude are pretty kind and friendly, and the foods are quite surprised us, the tastes are amazing for sure, a bit sweet not too salty, our favourite is their fried noodle and fried chicken. There are lots of parking spots on the upper levels, which the restaurant will give you a coupon after you purchase, usually it counts for 3 hrs. We are truly satisfied with what we have, but only one thing we need to complain is that the oily smell is very strong as their kitchen is quite opened and nearby the tables. Hopefully, the vent system can be improved in the future. Parking: There are plenty of parking spots on the upper levels, all you need to do is to get the coupon for free parking after your purchasing. Kid-friendliness: High chair.
Hosted my birthday dinner here last week, and I couldnt have asked for better food and hosts.
their chicken satay is sooo good!! especially with their peanut sauce
It tastes pretty good and the chili peppers are also very spicy. I like it very much, but the portion is too small. I can eat two portions of his portion of noodles. I only got half a bowl of noodle soup.
Great little restaurant, definitely gives you the Indonesian vibe, Service is Amazing. They also validate parking for when you park underground. The food was ok I was expecting different spices. The chicken skewer tasted more like Filipino BBQ, and the noodles tasted kind of like the indomi packet. The best dish was the beef rendang it tasted a little different from my pallet Is used to in a good way.
Food was great! Portions are good
It was my first time trying Indonesian food... It was an amazing experience for sure. Really good atmosphere, cozy environment.... My favorite item are spicy nasi goreng chicken and weekend special Balinese Grilled Fish and Nasi Kuning Combo.... Nasi Kuning is my favorite rice.
Went here for some early dinner after work and the food tasted great. Service was warm yet a bit lost for a having it here order . I ended up ordering at the front. Parking is there. Quite findable and definitely worth trying for the food.
Our first time trying Indonesian cuisine. Cant get it better than this .We tried Chicken Satay , Ayam Penyat and Mei Java. All three dishes were really good .
Food and Service are amazing.. one of my Staples..peanut sauce is life
The lunch menu was great - we got the Ayam Penyet and Beef Rendang and dadar gulung and hubby and I really enjoyed it! Reminded me of childhood days in Indonesia.
Nice family run business. Good food, well cooked. Friendly service.
First time trying Indonesian food and it was great. The customer service was also fantastic, highly recommend!
Great food, great atmosphere, great service! We will definitely go again.
Good ol honest cooking! Nice flavours, chicken was juicy, and not salty. The salad had a subtley yummy sweet & sour sauce. We ordered Ayam Penyet, chicken skewers, and Nasi Bakar. Theyll even validate your parking. Im definitely coming back. Worth the trip because Ill shop next door at Maeli too
I always appreciate good food and service. This place delivers on both. We randomly stumbled upon Satay Sate today and thoroughly enjoyed the food. My fiancé and I experienced a lot of new flavours here which did not disappoint at all. We tried the chicken sate skewers, chicken nasi goreng, egg balado and beef short ribs. Recommend all of them. Our server, David was so kind, friendly and courteous. P.s The restaurant also validates parking. Another plus point.
This place is absolutely amazing!!! The food is so delicious! David our server was super friendly, prompt, and was able to accommodate all our requests. The decor is very clean and modern. I cant believe people dont know about this place! Would give 6 stars if I could. Will definitely be coming back here again! Thank You Satay Sate!
Excellent skewers. Tender meat, good flavours. Attentive service. Lovely, new spot, cute & fresh décor. Would come back to try some of their noodle and fried rice dishes.
Got there right at opening and was waiting for a friend. We got so excited talking that I only had a chance to take pictures before he came and forgot to take pictures of the food. Boo- me Had the mie-ayam as it was a cold, windy day, and was looking for something a little warm and soupy, which at the spot. We also had the beef skewers which were quite nice. Nice place. And glad that I came early as it started to get quite busy. Service is great. Atmosphere is great. Will definitely come back if I was in the area.
This is the 3rd time I dined there. I am not a spice lover, but just like to explore ethnic food. Their dishes were pretty authentic, with a little modern fusion touch. Most of the menu item names and descriptions were using some forms of Indonesian or Malay words that might require a bit of Q&A with the server. I wish they had physical menus with pictures and ingredients spelled out rather than online menus. It was a real inconvenience to scroll thru the menu pages on a phone screen. BTW, if you do not like spicy food, it is not your restaurant.
In case you have a short or long stay in Canada, this restaurant is a necessary stop in your itinerary, especially if like me you like to try exotic food, with interesting taste and the perfect balance of flavors, many were unknown to me, as a Mexican I have a very special palate and high expectations towards exotic food and I can assure you, that these dishes will meet all your expectations.
